Dandadan is the exact fusion of genres you thought wouldn't work well together, like horror and comedy. This series is so well crafted that not only the plot but also the animation designs and drawings themselves capture you from the first episode. Everything is perfectly synchronized to avoid overkill and make this anime different, combining boldness, irrelevance, and truly striking visual effects, which makes it a wild journey between the paranormal and the hilarious in a very enjoyable way.
And it's definitely a series for adults, as it touches on risqué themes and jokes that aren't suitable for children. One of the aspects that most impacted me while watching it is the quality of its characters. Their design style is quite good and appealing. In fact, for me, they're as good as or better than the ones Ufotable used to create the rest of the Kimetsu No Yaiba story. This is because they blend authentic art with monochromatic scenes, where certain character designs stand out, elevating them to another level, making them epic.
On the other hand, they add touches of madness, incoherence, and great humor with scenes that will make you laugh out loud. If you want to distract your mind with something light and different, without having to dig too deep to decipher a character, this is the series you should give a try. It also has an occasional emotional touch, where the character seeks to reflect and grow internally to become stronger. This, for me, adds a sublime essence to the story, as it ultimately shows you the evolution of the characters, their emotional growth, and the maturity they reach to transform them into great people worthy of being remembered and taken as role models.
As for the characters, I can only say that each one has something special about them, and they made me grow fond of them. Each one complements the other in their own way without realizing it, and little by little, the interpersonal relationships become greatly strengthened, as it's in the most absurd scenes that touches of empathy and understanding are shown, not to mention the romantic story that develops in the background between the protagonists. That's why I said at the beginning that this series was one of the best, because it managed to merge such complex themes in a very simple way.
Another plus I should highlight, which made me enjoy this series so much, is that they also combine two of my favorite themes: the supernatural with UFOs and aliens. They also add well-known urban legends and some lesser-known ones, which makes it special. Overall, there are many combined aspects that keep this series' plot fresh and its battles very exciting, as its characters are forced to adapt to new and bizarre situations.
Hello, cinema fans. Let's continue with more classics from the action and science fiction genres of the 90s with another film not suitable for all audiences that I saw when I was a child (something I don't recommend you do with your children or any minors). This successful, grotesque, and chaotic film is yet another example of one of the best eras of the genre and the film industry. Based on Philip K. Dick's short novel "We Can Remember if You Wholesale", Total Recall was directed by Paul Verhoeven. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rachel Ticotin, Sharon Stone, Ronny Cox, and Michael Ironside. Discover one of those films that are now considered cult classics.

The film begins by showing us a rocky, reddish landscape, like a mountainous desert, with two people in suits doing a kind of "space walk". However, a ravine separates the pair, causing the protagonist to fall and break the helmet he is wearing, and then die from lack of oxygen. Suddenly, as his face begins to swell and his eyes are about to pop out, he wakes up from what seemed to be a simple dream, a nightmare. That morning, our protagonist, Douglas Quaid, watches the news on a virtual screen on his wall as they talk about the riots on Mars, the red planet he always dreams about.
While they talk about the terrorist attacks and problems with rebels there, Quaid comes up with the "brilliant idea" of going on a trip to Mars to spend his vacation there. However, his wife lovingly rejects him and tries to persuade him to go somewhere else. He remains unconvinced, strangely obsessed with going to this place because he feels it has something special for him. At his construction job, he talks to his co-worker to ask him about the Rekall company, which he says on television offers to recreate people's dreams of anything. His co-worker warns him not to even think about going, but he goes anyway to relive that dream that has been troubling him.

Trama
I think the only reason I remember this movie is because of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The funny thing is that this is the movie I've seen the least out of all the ones I know. I've probably only seen it once or twice in my life when I was a kid or a preteen. My initial impression was that it's not like most of the action movies he's in, as its grotesque and more violent than usual tone makes it unsuitable for young or general audiences. My opinion now, after seeing it again, hasn't changed; it's only reinforced as something more than just a crude action movie with visually unpleasant characters. Both its plot and the themes it deals with make you think a lot, as well as entertaining you.
So far, we have seen different films with post-apocalyptic or dystopian futures with something similar in terms of a chaotic and desolate vision of tomorrow. Whether it is due to war, a cataclysm, an invasion, or technology itself, we will always see humanity going through a nightmare in the flesh. However, unlike the previous films I have brought you in this special, Total Recall plays a lot with the mind and the viewer's perception of whether what we see in the nearly two hours of the feature film is real or just a well-told dream. That... and only that is enough to bring you this cinematic work with the potential to make you think and doubt what is real and what is not. Obviously, if you are sensitive to violence, nudity, and gore, I do not recommend it.

The idea of a future in which humanity has advanced so far that it can travel into space and live on other planets in the Solar System is fascinating in itself. Of course, this is nothing new if you've seen as many science fiction movies as I have. But this movie is not like any other, as it begins by introducing us to our protagonist, Douglas Quaid, and his interest in his dreams of going to Mars. The strange thing is that in his dreams he is not with his current blonde wife, but with a brunette woman. However, that's not the main problem, because in a future where you let a company with a dubious reputation manipulate your mind to dream things that aren't real sounds like something no sane person would ever do.
However, we are not here to look for logic in a science fiction and action movie from the 1990s. That is why we see the great Arnold Schwarzenegger transform from an ordinary city worker into a dangerous professional assassin who seems to be wanted by a secret agency led by a corrupt leader and businessman from Mars. The interesting thing is not what you just read, but how the film takes this big plot twist right after inducing the protagonist to dream about what he asked for: an adventure as a secret agent with a girl, villains, mutants, aliens, and a happy ending (I'll just say that the aliens were missing). I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone reading this who is thinking of going to see it after finishing this review, but I will just say that the ending really makes you think.

Returning to the plot, with our protagonist being pursued for much of the film while discovering the truth about everything that is happening and managing to get to Mars, I like how we can see certain parallels between the film and reality. I am referring mainly to the contrast between Earth and Mars. While on the blue planet we see an advanced and safe society with jobs and a very good climate, on the red planet we see how the corrupt leader and businessman exploits the inhabitants to work in mines while reducing their wages and the little oxygen they have. Yes, I know that many of you reading this will think that it is a clear reference to today's society and the differences between them and so on. Personally, it is not new to me that these things are so well reflected in this type of film.
Another interesting detail worth mentioning are the mutants, those humans who live on Mars and who, due to the lack of oxygen, suffer deformities in their bodies and even develop certain abilities such as mind reading (psychics). Yes, now it does sound like pure science fiction, but my question is how did it come to that with only the lack of oxygen, as they try to imply in this movie. If you told me that it was something more like certain elements or materials on the red planet that cause these mutations, I would believe it more. But anyway, let's leave this small detail aside. What really intrigues me about this film is how the association behind our rebellious and dangerous protagonist has the ability to erase memories and replace them with false ones and dreams of years of a human being's life.
This is something that, from the outset, the film mentions and shows us over and over again as a message that we must not forget while we are entertained by the chases, fights, and incredible and bloody action sequences it contains. It's as if the theme of dreams and memories has something to do with everything that is happening, which is true up to a certain point in the story. But it's not just the fact that real memories can be replaced by false ones, but also the fact that the protagonist is made to dream something that he himself describes well and then sees it reflected throughout the rest of the film. All so that in the end we are reminded once again whether everything was real or not, completely blowing our minds. This way of hooking the viewer with a plot that is much more interesting than the typical action movie about agents fighting criminals is simply fascinating.
Now, as for the characters we meet in this movie, I have mixed feelings, to be honest. Starting with the protagonist, Arnold Schwarzenegger does an excellent job of portraying him. He moves far away from his iconic cold and emotionless Terminator character to adapt a character torn between what he believes he is and what he once was. Two different personalities that only share their ability to kill people in a bloody way and be a problem for a dangerous organization. His case serves as a very good example of another interesting theme addressed in this film: identity. On the other hand, we have characters such as the protagonist's supposed wife, the assassin sent to find him, and the main antagonist of this film. All these characters fulfill their specific roles well, and some even stand out with lines and performances that catch the eye.
Otherwise, I think the film's script helps a lot to keep the pace going. That and the fact that it adds a touch of humor, mostly black humor, amid all the action, drama, and suspense. I like how it breaks the tension with crazy moments like the "you are me" scene. I mean... whoever wrote this script is a genius (those who have already seen the film will know what I mean). But I think what stands out most is the view of Mars and how chaotic it is, especially its mutant inhabitants and what they are like. I think this is where we talk about how the leader of this place treats and takes advantage of these people and how they differentiate them from others. A clear message about issues such as classism or the simple lack of humanity when it comes to leading or governing a place.

Last but not least, let's talk about the visual aspect of this film. Perhaps the most striking thing it has to offer is how the film handles both practical and computer-generated effects in a way that looks great for its time. While it has a dark tone that veers toward the grotesque or gory at times, this film manages to blend the typical vision we had of Mars as the red planet with its inhabitants, giving them an unpleasant appearance. I like that they mostly used practical effects, such as for the weapons, explosions, the appearances of certain mutant characters, the exterior view of the red planet with its mountains, and even the scenes of deaths and murders.
Otherwise, it has a very well-done aesthetic with a style that is neither cyberpunk nor anything like it. There are also certain views of cities or underground areas that are excellent and very interesting, especially because of the appearance of the ships. CGI is almost never seen in the film; I think it's only noticeable when they pass through those huge metal detectors. Returning to the visuals, I like that the film strives to be as graphic as possible, as in the case of people being suffocated by the lack of oxygen on Mars. On the other hand, we have the sound effects, which are excellent, very typical of that era, with sounds that go right to the bone. The soundtrack is another brilliant aspect of this film, very similar to other films I think I know. In short, this film is perfect if you are looking for something very different from what is common in the science fiction genre.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 in terms of the action and science fiction genre.

As an old-school Jim Gaffigan fan, I really want to see the guy do well and will support anything that he does. He has kind of struggled to find his legs as far as what he is going to be in cinema but I believe he has determined that despite the fact that he is a comedian, that he doesn't want to do comedy roles in films and has been pursuing only serious dramatic roles in moves as of late.
Perhaps this is a good thing because had Jim done the comedy route he would almost certainly end up being a type-cast character that people would quickly bore of. At least that is how I imagine it. I don't recall a single Gaffigan comedy film though, and I can think of several of his serious roles.
Jim plays the role of Cameron Edwin and he is a pleasant man who lives in a a small city with his wife and two children. His life has been dedicated to science and he is the host of a children's science program that just hasn't quite managed to take off and he is relegated to late-night airtime where almost nobody even gets to see it. His rather boring life is upended one day when he is standing somewhere mailing a letter when a car, with a person inside of it, drops out of the sky into the street behind him.
I think if we were ever in the street and a car dropped just meters away from us that it would be all over the news but when Cameron is telling his family about it at dinner, they seem hesitant to believe that he is even telling the truth.
Jim's family is just fine. They all seem reasonably loving and get along, but at the same time everyone seems a bit upset that their lives are not more exciting and Jim himself is a bit disappointed that things didn't really work out so well for him and he is lamenting that he is soon going to be entering his twilight years and doesn't feel as though he has accomplished as much as he would have liked to.
Before you ask, yes, that is "Kim Wexler" standing next to Gaffigan and she is great in this but unfortunately for actress Rhea Seahorn she was so good in Better Call Saul that she struggles to be anything else. In Linoleum it almost seems like we are watching a prequel of Saul as to what her life was like before she became a lawyer that worked for Slippin' Jimmy. If what i just wrote there doesn't mean anything do you, this is probably a good thing. As wife "Erin" she does a fine job in this movie.
The two of them have a daughter named "Nora" and she is probably the 2nd most featured character in the film.
Nora is a bit of an outcast at school. She isn't disliked but she just doesn't really try to be popular. She also is a self-proclaimed lesbian but that evolves as things go on. She is hyper intelligent and doesn't really get along with anyone... well, that is until she does.
So now you see all the major characters so what is the story?
Well, I can't really get into that without potentially spoiling the one thing about this film that makes it different and probably the only thing about it that makes it good. This film has a sort of artistic way about it that when it does all finally come together you are left wondering what the hell did I just see? Was any of it real? What parts of it were just someone's imagination and what parts of it actually happened?
It is spelled out to us a bit that the universe is all the perception of your own mind or something along those lines, but in the end when the credits do finally come on you are left second-guessing yourself about something that you might have missed that happened in the story.
I like to think in a film, and I like twist endings, but this one was perhaps a little bit too confusing with the ending for me to really grasp all of what happened there. Basically we are shown an hour and 10 minutes of one story, but in the last 10 minutes of the film the entire thing gets put on its head and much of what we have been getting told isn't true... or is it?
I'm sorry but I can't say more about it than that without potentially spoiling it. There is a certain demographic out there that this film will appeal to and the rest of the people will be confused or perhaps not even make it to the end of it all.
Should I watch it?
I think that aside from certain people that no, you should not. This doesn't mean that the move isn't good. I truly think that it is good. It's just kind of a slog with well, at the end, I believe that most people will feel as though it was a waste of time because the producers spent the past 100 minutes tricking you into thinking this movie is about something it isn't about and when it all comes together you are left with at "what the hell?" sort of feeling.
Perhaps that doesn't make any sense but I kind of feel like it was artistic in a way that is going to get it accolades from places like Cannes and SXSW, but it isn't going to translate into mass appeal or worse for the people that make these things, mass consumption. This film made just over $100,000 a the box office and is one of those films that I don't think was ever intended to make any money at cinemas.
Jim does put on the best performance of his acting career though and if you are fan of him, this is very nice to see. I rate this as "maybe" because unless you are a big fan of Gaffigan like I am, you probably wont make it all the way to the end of this one.
Linoleum can be streamed on Hulu and rented on a number of other platforms including Amazon. It is not on Netflix

The soundtrack is not important or interesting, I have already explained in previous installments the reason for this.

The same happens with this section, it is not relevant due to the nature of the film, so to extend at this point is a waste of time.

The plot is what it is: stupid, funny and irreverent, countless sexual jokes and idiots, to expect anything more than that would be foolish. Narratively there is not much, the film only seeks to offer an absurd amount of various sexual nonsense, something that as a viewer you may or may not find funny but it is the only thing on which this film focuses, in turn, the duration is what is usual so it has enough time to develop its premise and give it closure, nothing that surprises in any way.

The characters are only to make various stupidities, from the beginning to the end they are some master of master degrees, out of it there is not much, their only intention is to make fun with their silly actions and vulgar jokes.
American Wedding continues with all those customs that the saga already brings, it is synonymous with irreverence, sexual jokes and embarrassing situations, nothing more complex than that. It is for all the above that it deserves 2.5 stars of 7, it is a stupid tape to look where you look, it will be taste only of those who enjoy this type of unbridled nonsense.
I saw Megan 1.0 three years ago when I was still neck deep into horror films and I liked the movie purely because of the horror theme. However, Megan 2.0 was an unexpected turn from the original movie.
Be that as it may, the movie made me wonder. During the course of the movie, a few references were made towards AI becoming smarter if left for years (the same way wine tastes better with time) and I can't help but wonder how true this is?
About The Movie
The story takes place two years after the events of the first film, with Gemma now an activist advocating for AI regulation while still struggling with the trauma inflicted by Megan.
During the course of this, a new militarized robot AMELIA, goes rogue and Megan is the only one that can stop her seeing that she was built from the same program as Megan. Desperate, Gemma reluctantly agrees to resurrect and upgrade Megan. Megan does not return as a villain but as an anti-hero ally determined to protect Cady and humanity by extension. Would Megan keep to her promise of protecting humanity or would she stick with her own kind?
The movie stars actors like Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ivanna Sakhno, and Jemaine Clement.
Released on 24th June, 2025 and directed by Gerard Johnstone the action comedy thriller movie has a runtime of 120 minutes.
My Opinion
Megan 2.0 is a fun, chaotic, self-aware sequel that shifts the tone from pure horror to more of an action-comedy thriller. It retains Megan, the killer AI doll's style but embraces a more lighthearted and entertaining approach. This sequel transforms Megan from a villainous figure into a more anti-hero protagonist
I like the movie's clever use of technology in the plot like smart house defenses and sharp one-liners that bring Megan to life as funny and sassy.
While the movie loses some of its original pure horror impact by adopting a lighter tone, the shift allows the film to explore Megan's character more deeply with moments of morality and maturity despite her being an AI doll.
The characters awed me as usual. I found myself wondering how humans could act so exceptionally well as robots. The rest of the supporting casts brought their A-game as well and they all made the viewing experience.
The themes explored in this film include: AI ethics and regulation as it explores the dangers of militarised AI, redemption, personal growth, technology and family. It also shines some light on corporate exploitation of technology and AI.
Personally, I found little to no setbacks in this movie. The cinematography was great, the characters were at their best, the plot was a pretty good and engaging one. It was a good movie in general.
Rating and Recommendation.
Despite my initial bias, I found this to be a really interesting watch and would give it a solid 8/10 rating. If you like seeing movies within the sci-fi, comedy or thriller genres or you're down to see a film with a quirky AI doll protagonist, this movie would be a good watch for you.
I just finished the fourth season of The Bear, and honestly, for me, it's one of the best shows of this decade. It started out as this wild mix of chaos and complexity, but it really ended with some deep reflections and a powerful message about change and healing. I'll never forget that first season where the chaos seemed never-ending, but as the story went on, we saw this incredibly exciting and inspiring evolution.
The Bear 4ta temporada - Sanación y cambio
For me, the best episode of this season was episode 7, "The Wedding." I think it's the perfect contrast to "Fishes" from season two. We see the yelling replaced by thoughtful silences and honest, healing conversations. The family comes together despite their past hurts and manages to create something nobody expected: an atmosphere of forgiveness and understanding. This definitely divided fans—some expected a total disaster, but others, like me, were super satisfied. It genuinely brought me joy.
I really liked the whole "race against the clock" plotline to get the restaurant profitable. It put all the characters' perspectives into sharp focus, and they started adapting to limitations and becoming more efficient. Bringing in the element of time was perfect because it reminds us that time waits for no one. It doesn't matter if you're improving; if time runs out, what's done is done, period.
Even though Richie's my favorite character, this season really made me appreciate Carmy more. It showed that being talented and really good at one thing doesn't necessarily make us good at every other aspect of life. Carmy realizes that and stops imposing his ideas on how to run the restaurant, like changing the menu daily, because it was driving them into the ground.
I loved the irony of Carmy starting to take things easy, slowing down his own life, when the restaurant was running out of time and they needed to speed up to try and save it. This change of pace made him a more sensitive person, and he started listening and letting others take charge. That's the only way he got his love for Claire back and even managed to forgive his mom, who hurt him so much.
And how can I not talk about Richie and his huge transformation? Seeing him smile in the episode of his ex-wife's wedding was unforgettable. It really hit me when he made that kind of plea in his sleep, asking a higher power for the restaurant not to fail. That was clear evidence he finally found his purpose in life there, and he starts encouraging the rest of the team about the importance of selfless hospitality. But to do that, they have to fix their own problems first so they can serve with the best attitude.
In a nutshell, the series was really about the characters' journey of change; it was never just about cooking or the restaurant itself. The message focused on how people deal with the death of a loved one, how they control their passions for the greater good, and how they work on change no matter what stage of life they're in. I appreciate how bold the creators were in moving past the chaos theme to explore change and reconciliation. I honestly don't get why this show is categorized as a comedy at awards shows.

Chainsaw Man has to be one of the wildest anime I’ve ever seen. It’s bloody, chaotic, darkly funny and somehow, it still manages to hit you in the heart. But the character that really pulled me in is Denji. He’s not your typical hero. He doesn’t fight for justice. He fights to eat good food, touch boobs, and have a roof over his head. He’s brutally honest about what he wants, and in a world full of lies and monsters, that kind of raw, shameless humanity stands out. Denji is messed up, but real and that’s what makes him powerful. The first drawing I made was a rough, inky black-and-white sketch raw, jagged, full of movement. I wanted it to reflect Denji’s unstable, explosive energy. That moment when he transforms into Chainsaw Man, it’s not polished or heroic it’s desperate, chaotic, like he’s tearing his way through life just to survive. Then I created the second version with glowing chainsaws, orange lighting, and a supernatural vibe. That glow represents the hellfire Denji walks through every day. It’s not just about cool effects; it’s about how this kid lights up a dark world with nothing but rage, pain, and that little spark of hope that keeps him going. Both versions show different sides of the same character. One is raw and grounded. The other is fiery and otherworldly. That’s what Chainsaw Man is to me gritty reality clashing with insane fantasy. And Denji? He’s the heart of that madness. Hope y’all like it. Please you can give an up-vote to support and if you want to see more of this💪.
Starz, while producing its series Black Sails, encountered similar production issues as it did with its earlier hit Spartacus. This should come as little surprise, given that both series share a narrative structure constrained by historical parameters, with Black Sails further limited by the need to adhere to the plot of Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel set decades later. Naturally, this means a significant portion of the audience—even those unfamiliar with Caribbean history of the early 18th century—knows how certain characters will fare and how little many of their ambitious plans will ultimately matter.
In the fourth and final season of Black Sails, one such ambitious plan is devised by Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), a pirate who has finally secured the legendary treasure from the Spanish galleon Urca de Lima. Whereas he had previously dreamed of using that treasure to secure a peaceful retirement in a new British Empire-ruled world order, he has now, for deeply personal reasons, shifted his life’s goal. He pours all his energy into sabotaging this new order at its inception. The treasure from the Urca is meant to fund a Caribbean-wide uprising, uniting pirates and those who profit from piracy with the Maroons (escaped slaves) and those still toiling on plantations. According to Flint’s plan, this revolution should begin in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, which had been lawless for a decade prior, serving as a safe haven for pirates. However, the enterprising sea captain Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts) has recently established British authority there and, as governor, seeks to maintain order through a mix of carrots and sticks. Rogers, however, is not thriving; he has financed his entire venture from his own pocket, incurring massive debts. His control over Nassau also seems precarious due to the rebellion being orchestrated by pirate Billy Bones (Tom Hopper), whose figure is ironically overshadowed by the enriched, honey-tongued Long John Silver (Luke Arnold)—a man with his own personal motives for joining the cause and secret plans for the treasure.
The most significant difference between Black Sails and Spartacus lies in the fact that the four-season run of the former was not driven by producers’ ambitions but was forced by the health issues of the lead actor, causing the second season to serve as a prologue without its central character. For Black Sails, the decision to make four seasons was made to fill programming gaps, and, as things stand, without considering that creative resources might dry up over four years. This becomes evident, as the pirate saga’s conclusion feels predictably drawn-out. It is clear to everyone that no pirate-slave revolution will materialise, that the treasure will remain on a distant island (one, in a rare pleasant narrative surprise, revealed not to be the one previously hinted at in the prior season), and that Nassau will stay under British rule. The question left is how all this will transpire and which characters—those not documented in historical records or Stevenson’s prose—will survive the series finale. Their numbers, relative to earlier seasons, are limited, further restricting the writers’ options, forcing them to contrive their exits through unconvincing coincidences and melodrama fit for soap operas. The soapy elements are most glaring in the characters of Long John Silver and Eleanor Guthrie, whose Machiavellian strategies, which served them well in earlier seasons’ survival games, are undone by sentimental outbursts rendering them weak. Even the relentless attempts to create drama through betrayals and stabbing people in the back eventually grow tiresome and predictable, with only occasional scenes of spectacular, gory battles offering respite. These are too few to offset the damage caused by scenes where every character labours to justify their actions with a lexicon dominated by phrases more fitting a modern sociology dissertation than the words of an average 18th-century Caribbean pirate. Even the undeniable talent of the well-cast ensemble cannot rescue the show from the tedious impression akin to attending a press conference by a faceless Eurocrat. The audience will also be put off by the show’s insistence on wrapping everything up with some sort of happy ending, even resorting to soap-opera-style deus ex machina interventions. When Black Sails finally concludes, the overall impression of the series will remain positive, but with relief that a fifth season will not follow.
RATING: 5/10 (++)

Hello Movies & Tv cinephiles, I hope you are well today. I recently came across a Spanish movie called Un funeral de locos, I'm not a big fan of comedy movies and in fact I thought it had some drama and in part, it does have a lot of drama but combined with the necessary black humor to tell a story so full of craziness within a family where everyone has their own personality and lifestyle, where no one seems to fit in and who have their own personal problems that are reflected on the day of the funeral.
The plot tells the story of a funeral where a Spanish family is almost forced in the midst of each of the family members' obligations to attend the father's funeral. There are a number of dramas as they try to get everything right and give the sacred burial to the deceased, but things get out of control in the midst of the mistaken distribution of drugs (without intending to do so), the wait for all family members to gather and say goodbye in peace which is almost impossible, especially after the great secret that the children discover about their late father.
This movie was released in 2025 and directed by Manuel Gomez Pereira, it has a lot of well known actors in Spain such as Santi Ugalde, Quim Gutierrez, Ernesto Alterio, Inma Cuesta, Esmeralda Pimentel, Belen Rueda, Antonio Resines, Secun de la Rosa, among others who participated only a little in the film. I really enjoyed the performances and although some people think it is a very bad movie, I think that although it is not the best, it has some things that make you enjoy it at least a little between the laughs that you get in every scene.
Humor is the main point in this story, where the children and relatives of the deceased are all a little crazy, there is one who has a facade of being the best writer in the United States and earns a lot of money, another one hides by the alibi of working as a pharmacist that in reality is dedicated to the sale of narcotics, another has a relationship that is not accepted by his father and despite having this problem still has enough love to fight for their relationship, there is also the typical family member who is there just because it is the right thing to do and the widow who hides a problem with alcohol while spending all day drinking behind the rooms of the beautiful house where she lived with the deceased.
The most important part for me was the secret of the deceased, totally unexpected and which made me laugh a lot because of the reaction of his children when they learn the truth that their father was hiding and that they try not to let it be known as the wake ends. It is at that point that you realize that you really never really get to know people including your own family and that there can be very dark secrets hidden that possibly go with the dead if someone doesn't somehow reveal the truth.
In itself the movie is not normal at all, it is fun, it entertains you and gives you that feeling of being in a mess that is not yours but that fills you with curiosity. The scenes are pretty normal filmed mostly inside the house where the deceased is being watched and you don't see anything else different. I feel like it's not a movie that anyone would enjoy including myself, since comedy stories are not my favorite genre of movies but this one was passable and I got a few laughs out of it. If you want to see something different, that is Spanish cinema you can find this movie on PrimeVideo. 🍿

Have you ever seen a movie you once anticipated and ended up wanting to arrest the whole crew? That was exactly how I felt during and after watching the movie Home Sweet Home: Rebirth.
Before I went for this movie, I had seen its posters on Facebook and enough hype, especially with the supernatural talk and the displays on the poster—coupled with the fact that it has a stretch to Thailand. Oh yeah, Thailand movies are good. Most importantly, it had a zombie theme, so I went for it, only to hop in and watch a very 'unrealistic' storyline. Please don’t get me wrong—I know most movies are fictional, with unrealistic stories as it relates to our world and the supernatural world. But this one, in particular, was a bit strange, with a combination of hell talk, zombies, and a chronic, computerized devil-like demon.
Jake, a policeman in the U.S., and his family—his wife, Prang and little baby, Loo—decided to spend their holiday in Thailand, their grandma’s hometown. They landed in Thailand and, on their first trip to explore the city before going to their grandma’s home, Jake met a monk who gave him a prophecy, saying he was the one who could close the gate of hell and that he would lose his family very soon. Yeah, it was strange to Jake and unbelievable, so he dismissed it.
Right in the mall they were in, a guy(an agent of the devil) appeared from nowhere and started shooting everyone to death, and that was how the zombie breakout began. How did that happen? What’s the relationship? Absolutely no idea.
Jake, upon seeing that the guy was killing everyone, told his family to hide in one of the rooms so he could go and stop him. That was it, he went, and in the process, he got killed and found himself in another world that looked exactly like the world he was in before he died. Interestingly, he died without knowing that he died.
The story continues with him and Chan (the monk guy) trying to find a way to close the gate of hell.
The storyline sounds interesting, right? Yeah, it does—but the poor linking of the various aspects spoiled it. How do I mean?
Okay, there was a gate of hell that needed to be closed by a chosen one who just traveled from the U.S. to Thailand for a holiday? A gate of hell—in this modern world? Haaaa!
Okay, let’s say all that was the supernatural angle that needed a bit of brain-racking to fully understand the flow of the movie. One of the poorest and most uninteresting aspects of the movie is the demon used. The demon was so mighty and excessively computerized. I found it very awkward, especially with the way it was crashing down buildings.
Another issue is Jake’s acting. I had to pause the movie to go and search if I was watching a dubbed version—like if the original language wasn’t English, and a bit of it was in Thai. Jake was so poor in his acting, especially with how fake his voice sounded in the scenes with the monk. Didn’t they rehearse those scenes before shooting? That’s so bad.
Jake’s wife and their little girl, Loo, were top-notch in their acts. They made me want to keep watching with their emotional survival runs. So real!
These are just my opinions, and some people may have a better rating of this movie, as I have seen it hyped a lot on social media.
I loved the ending where they showed how hell looks. I think that correlated with what I have in my head. Lol.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to release on July 25, 2025, is not just a superhero movie for me, but a nostalgic journey. I grew up watching the Fantastic Four movie in 2005, where Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Ioan Gruffudd’s performances were forever etched in my mind. At that time, this team was the second most important superhero team in my heart after Superman and Batman. Even though there were several sequels to Fantastic Four later, the magic of that 2005 movie never faded for me. So when I heard that this new movie was coming out, my excitement started to rise. In this blog, I will not give any spoilers, but rather share my experience as a viewer and fan, my likes and dislikes. Along with that, I will also highlight why everyone should watch this movie.
The main characters of the movie are the four members of the Fantastic Four team— Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing). The chemistry of these four and their unique powers take the story of the movie to another level. In addition, in the movie, we see the Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal) and the terrifying Galactus, who play an important role in the story. There is a deep story behind each character, which makes them interesting to us not only as superheroes, but also as people.
The first thing that captured my heart about this movie was its 1960s setting. This timeline of Earth-828 gave the movie a retro-futuristic vibe, which was a nostalgic trip for old fans like me. The design of the Baxter Building, the Fantastic Four's spaceship, and their technology—everything seemed to have come straight out of a comic book. The colors of the scenes, the costumes, and the cinematography impressed me. In particular, the space scenes were so amazing that I felt like I was traveling with them in space.
The depth of the relationship between Reed and Sue was very touching to me. Their family bond and emotional moments added a human dimension to the story. Johnny Storm's ever-present mischievousness and Ben Grimm's rough but loving personality made the movie come alive. Shalla-Bal's entry as the Silver Surfer and her mysterious presence added a new layer to the story. And Galactus? Seeing him, I felt like I had never seen anyone as terrifying and magnificent as this villain before.
The action scenes in the movie were a visual treat for me. In particular, the Human Torch's fire play and Invisible Woman's use of the force field were presented with great precision. The movie's soundtrack also won my heart. The musical accompaniment to each scene was so perfect that I was completely immersed in the story the entire time. The mid-credits scene was a huge surprise for me, one that I will never forget. It only made me more excited for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
Watching the movie took me back to those childhood days. The Fantastic Four have always held a special place for me, and this new movie has enriched that place even more. It is not just a superhero movie, but a story of family, love, and sacrifice. This new journey of Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben made me laugh, cry, and ultimately light a ray of hope in my heart. When they face their challenges together in the final scene of the movie, I thought—this is my Fantastic Four.
If you are a Marvel fan, this movie is a must-watch for you. It is not just the story of the Fantastic Four, but also opens up a new horizon of the Marvel multiverse. The unique world of Earth-828, the new interpretation of the Fantastic Four's powers, and the presence of terrifying villains like Galactus make the movie an epic experience. In addition, the movie's mid-credits scene gives a big hint about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which no Marvel fan will want to miss.
Even if you're not a fan of superhero movies, this movie will still draw you in for its family story and emotional moments. It's not just action, but a heartwarming story that will touch everyone.
The movie introduces us to a new world in the Marvel multiverse—Earth-828. There are no Avengers or X-Men on this world, only the Fantastic Four are the only superhero team here. This setting gave the movie a unique flavor. Also, the movie is directly connected to Avengers: Doomsday, which makes it even more important for Marvel fans.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is not just a movie to me, it's a new chapter in my childhood memories. This movie made me laugh, cry, and most importantly, deepen my love for my favorite superhero team. If you haven't seen the movie yet, hurry to the theater without delay. It's an experience you'll never forget.
