  1. The Bear season 4 - Healing and change [ENG/SPA]@danielcarrerag333d

I just finished the fourth season of The Bear, and honestly, for me, it's one of the best shows of this decade. It started out as this wild mix of chaos and complexity, but it really ended with some deep reflections and a powerful message about change and healing. I'll never forget that first season where the chaos seemed never-ending, but as the story went on, we saw this incredibly exciting and inspiring evolution.

The Bear 4ta temporada - Sanación y cambio

For me, the best episode of this season was episode 7, "The Wedding." I think it's the perfect contrast to "Fishes" from season two. We see the yelling replaced by thoughtful silences and honest, healing conversations. The family comes together despite their past hurts and manages to create something nobody expected: an atmosphere of forgiveness and understanding. This definitely divided fans—some expected a total disaster, but others, like me, were super satisfied. It genuinely brought me joy.

I really liked the whole "race against the clock" plotline to get the restaurant profitable. It put all the characters' perspectives into sharp focus, and they started adapting to limitations and becoming more efficient. Bringing in the element of time was perfect because it reminds us that time waits for no one. It doesn't matter if you're improving; if time runs out, what's done is done, period.

Even though Richie's my favorite character, this season really made me appreciate Carmy more. It showed that being talented and really good at one thing doesn't necessarily make us good at every other aspect of life. Carmy realizes that and stops imposing his ideas on how to run the restaurant, like changing the menu daily, because it was driving them into the ground.

I loved the irony of Carmy starting to take things easy, slowing down his own life, when the restaurant was running out of time and they needed to speed up to try and save it. This change of pace made him a more sensitive person, and he started listening and letting others take charge. That's the only way he got his love for Claire back and even managed to forgive his mom, who hurt him so much.

    imgi_19_2c3b612f-f771-4839-adfb-60985383a501.jpeg

And how can I not talk about Richie and his huge transformation? Seeing him smile in the episode of his ex-wife's wedding was unforgettable. It really hit me when he made that kind of plea in his sleep, asking a higher power for the restaurant not to fail. That was clear evidence he finally found his purpose in life there, and he starts encouraging the rest of the team about the importance of selfless hospitality. But to do that, they have to fix their own problems first so they can serve with the best attitude.

    imgi_6_3e7f1452-1026-442b-8cce-3f00fbd00c20.jpeg imgi_10_294642dc-1df4-44e7-8d96-4f8ea5d18810.jpeg

In a nutshell, the series was really about the characters' journey of change; it was never just about cooking or the restaurant itself. The message focused on how people deal with the death of a loved one, how they control their passions for the greater good, and how they work on change no matter what stage of life they're in. I appreciate how bold the creators were in moving past the chaos theme to explore change and reconciliation. I honestly don't get why this show is categorized as a comedy at awards shows.

  2. The Bear: Anxiety vs. Humor in Season Three [ENG/SPA]@danielcarrerag652d

I finally finished the third season of The Bear, a season that left me with a bittersweet taste as I watched the chaos that seemed to have been overcome take over Carmy and the entire restaurant team even more. Previous seasons showed an evolution of the characters adapting to the new restaurant proposal, all in the midst of a kitchen on the verge of collapse where everyone was struggling to find their place, but this new season focuses a lot on past wounds, with many flashbacks that make it difficult for the restaurant to finally take shape.

Carmy at the Center of the Storm

Carmy remains the center of attention in the series, of course he's the genius in the kitchen behind the wonderful dishes they always serve, but it seems that his brother's death still haunts him, and now we add to that the emotional problems he suffered during his learning process, caused by the chefs who supervised him. This causes his relationship with Sydney, his sous-chef, to become increasingly complex, weakening the mutual admiration they felt because emotions are very involved in the restaurant business.

    Cooking under pressure destroys order

This season maintains the premise of the previous ones: the kitchen as a metaphor, much more than a workplace, where the results on the plates are a reflection of the chaos that their characters live, where emotions are present in the preparations, resulting in both positive and negative outcomes. Every cut, every seasoning, every finished dish is a metaphor for the characters' lives, who are full of uncertainties and challenges.

This season delves much deeper into the metaphors, making it clear that cooking can heal a person as it did with Marcus, or encourage pain as is happening to Carmy, who is looking for a way to control the chaos that surrounds him in the midst of his emotional suffering, but this effort seems to be destroying him more and more.

Trauma and anxiety are the main ingredients of this season

Carmy constantly struggles with the ghosts of his past, this is repeated over and over again in the season and can be strange when it comes to a series classified as a comedy. For those who want to witness some joviality linked to the kitchen, in this season they are in for a big surprise. The series portrays in a realistic and moving way the effects of trauma on mental health, showing how it can manifest in different ways and how it can affect all areas of life.

The humor of the Fak brothers Vs the dark and introspective

This season doesn't abandon the intensity of the previous ones but predominates moments of deep reflection in many of its characters. This seems to take on greater relevance, which makes it difficult at times to enjoy the touches of humor that the Fak brothers give to the series. We have a great cameo with John Cena playing the character of Sammy Fak, and along with Neil (Matty Matheson), Ted (Ricky Staffieri) they give us one of the funniest scenes in the series.

Despite the changes in this season, I believe The Bear is a great series for having a well-constructed story, with episodes dedicated to characters you can identify with like Riche in the second season, or now Tina in the third. That shows how the series aims to explore issues that seem complex but that it embodies in the daily life of a person, obtaining moving moments to connect with, leaving the feeling of wanting to know how the story ends, which has been perfectly open for a fourth season.

  3. First Impressions on 'The Bear': The chaos of cooking@namiks999d

    vlcsnap-2023-10-03-18h30m56s839.png

I have seen a few posts around on The Bear lately, as well as quite a bit of discussion. I've been a big preoccupied with a ton of different other shows as of late and just hadn't had time to give it a chance. But I noticed it was available on Disney+ today, and with a little bit of free time, I decided to give it a chance. This was a wise decision! I like shows about cooking, the process of food making and the personalities that can be found contributing to it. Anthony Bourdain's travel show Parts Unknown is one of my favourite food and travel shows of all, as well as a few others here and there, including The Great British Bake Off of course. But good food related shows are a bit difficult to find. If they're more focused on reality, they need a good host that understands what they're showing. And fictional shows are of course incredibly difficult to tell stories for. They need to be character driven. They need to understand the food industry. It's why I think shows like The Bear are often a bit of a rarity.

The Bear quickly pulled me in, I instantly found myself appreciating just about every aspect of it. From the directing to the colour grading, even down to the performances and story. This is a really, really good show with a simple premise that manages to remain fresh -- no pun intended -- while each episode handles a different aspect of running a failing food business. It doesn't sound all that interesting, but these are quick, 27 minute episodes that don't hold back in the pacing. This is a show in constant motion, much like the work in a kitchen would be for a chef. Endlessly preparing meals and ingredients and performing various maintenance tasks, trying to get things perfect; even if your team isn't really at your pace. That is one way of saying that The Bear is a show that is insanely chaotic, but I love it for this. It really pulls you in with such constant motion, such loudness, to the point where you yourself start to feel on edge. It's highly effective.

This post may feature a few spoilers in some episodes, so be warned in case that sort of thing bothers you. Though this isn't really much of a show that has a linear story, so far.

    The Bear

    vlcsnap-2023-10-03-18h29m44s822.png

The Bear starts off by introducing us to our protagonist, a seemingly 30-something working in his cousin's dying restaurant. This first episode is very good. Constantly showing the beauty of Chicago while switching between the beautiful cinematography of food preparation in a kitchen. But it very quickly takes a sudden turn and the pacing only increases from here on. This is no ordinary kitchen, there's absolutely zero teamwork and the owner seems to be totally incapable of managing his staff and business. Just about the only person that has a grasp on reality is our protagonist, who shows a clear passion for cooking and doing things properly, all while being able to manage the marketing side of things in an attempt to bring fresh faces to the business.

This seems to be quite a running theme in the show as each episode shows the various hardships faced in the restauarant as everyone is up in each other's faces, refusing to work together and without any sort of agenda. Our protagonist tries his hardest to use his prior experience in a higher ranking restaurant to show a clear path forward, to which nobody really pays attention. The drama here is strong, up-close cinematography that shows the tightness of a kitchen space, the emotions on the faces of each chef as the tensions rise. The noise is high, the heat is evident. So much arguing over responsibilities and who should do what and when and how. For a show with such short episodes, they certainly feel full of action.

In terms of casting, Jeremy Allen White is perfect as the protagonist of the show, he absolutely fits the role of a messy-haired professional chef full of stress. I haven't really seen him in anything else, but he perfectly suits the role of a character that is highly dysfunctional but also completely devoted to something. Watching him perform is really something, and one of the best performances I have seen in a long time. I don't think I have really seen the other cast members before, but it's White that really stands out. With the most range in his character as we see him at his breaking point, even down to this downtime moments where he just seems completely broken.

I really like seeing this in a character. Their passionate side as well as how devoted they are to the point in which their lives seem to be barely scraping by. But this show isn't entirely serious, there's lots of humour in it; in one episode a group of people are accidentally drugged and sent to sleep with Xanax accidentally falling into the drink mix. The host is actually happy about this given the peace it provides. Though much of the humour comes in the dialogue as we see the characters fighting, some of the dialogue and moments almost seem like they're improvised given how natural they look. Especially with the camera constantly changing perspectives and giving us constant cuts, as if it's filmed from numerous angles with multiple cameras (which it most likely was).

Despite all of the chaos I really like the moments it shows to display the cooking. Really cinematic, very beautiful shots that almost imply that all of that hellish interactivity was worth it. That in the end something really beautiful was produced and enjoyed by someone. And the show displays experimentation too, there's even an episode entirely devoted to one person trying to make the perfect donut with inspiration from their childhood, even looking at colour theory to find the right look visually. And there are episodes where the team does actually get along and manage to solve problems together, showing the dynamic of this environment and how it isn't all chaos and screaming. Fortunately with a relatively conservative number of episodes and shorter runtime, I don't think this is a show that can easly exhaust itself. There seem to be two seasons and I'm already reaching the end of the first. Without a really linear narrative, it can sort of end anywhere. The character development is trickled down through each episode, really. Minor moments in their days add to their depth, and it really works.

  4. The Bear: I don't know anything about cooking and yet this series is great / No se nada de cocina y aun asi esta serie es genial [ENG-ESP]@freddbrito1005d

I don't remember exactly when was the first time I heard or knew something about this series, I don't remember if it was from a podcast that I listen to regularly or I read about it casually on Twitter, but what I do know is that since that first time I knew about the existence of The Bear, the internet started bombarding me about it, from YouTube, Twitter and TikTok, so after all that I decided to watch it once and for all. Before I started watching the series I had researched a little bit about what it was about, but very little, I practically only knew the basics and that was that it was a series about a restaurant or something like that, or at least that's what I thought it was at the beginning and although in general terms that's what the series is about, about how a restaurant works, in this case a "fast food" one, in this case "fast food", so to speak, as the series progresses and we are introduced to the characters along with their backgrounds, The Bear is a series that touches on various human issues, such as depression, suicide, the desire to fit in somewhere, the internal struggle about your happiness and what you think makes you happy, among other things.

The Bear is a series that logically handles many technicalities used in the kitchen, so I being a simple human who knows only the basics of cooking, there are many things about this area that I did not understand, but for someone who loves cooking or a chef, I'm sure this series would love it. The series especially focuses on Carmen or also called Carmy, in which after the suicide of his older brother, he inherits his brother's restaurant, so Carmy as a way to pay tribute to his late brother will look for a way to raise this place that is not in the best conditions. At the same time, Carmy presents his own internal conflicts because before and before his brother died he did not want him to work in his restaurant, so before the refusal of his older brother, Carmy begins to study and work in the best kitchens in the world, being recognized as one of the best chefs.

Throughout two seasons, we will see the search for happiness not only of Carmy, but also of several characters that play a very important role in the development of this story, we will also know part of the past of these characters, especially the main characters, so we will have a much broader perspective of the actions and personalities of these characters. One of the central themes of this series is how to fit in at work, being the kitchen one of the jobs where stress is part of the day to day, being able to cope with all these events without collapsing is one of the most impressive things that human beings can do, leave the stress aside to be able to do things perfectly.

Since I finished watching Better Call Saul and Succession, I had not seen any other series that made me want to watch the next episode so much, and the way The Bear's story grabs you is very interesting, even for a person like me, who as I said before, I know very little about cooking. This series has a certain level of comedy, it is quite intense in several episodes and there are others where sadness is the central axis of the story. This is one of the best series of this year, and I am looking forward to a third season.

  5. The Bear | My favorite show of 2023 so far [ENG/SPA]@danielcarrerag1007d

Hi community! I finally had the opportunity to complete a series, I had been unable to do so for a long time, I was facilitated by the fact that it contains short episodes of less than 30 minutes, well condensed in terms of plot and entertainment, first hand I can say that it is a good series that has left me wanting to follow its history, as it has two seasons, the newest released recently, which ends with unfinished events that need closure, which hints that there will be a third season.

I understand that it is one of the series of the moment, the first season received very good reviews, which I share, it is very good and the second season is not far behind. I think I understand why people who have seen the series have liked it a lot, at least it was one of the things I liked the most, the diversity of characters and the dynamics between them is one of the best and most natural I've seen in a while, plus each of the characters evolves very well from the first to the second season, you can start hating them and end up loving them.

Have you heard the saying: after the storm comes the calm? In the first season we see how they go from chaos to have some control of various situations that arise, but then something interesting happens, when everything seems to move forward and improve, with one or another challenge, you begin to question that everything is progressing too well to be true, that's where everything takes an intense turn to leave you eager to continue watching, and just for that the series is worth it, I think it is a strong candidate to win several awards.

The second season is a complete evolution, the characters prosper and become professionals, but they do not lose their essence, I loved that, also the restaurant begins to develop a new concept of the hand of the geniuses of the kitchen Carmen and Sydney, but they have many obstacles to overcome, the biggest of all is to remodel with a loan, which must be paid in 18 months, in a city where other restaurants have not been successful and close their doors.

Assume responsibility in success and failure | The Steve Bartman incident

This was one of the messages that the series left me with, in one of the episodes of the second season Jimmy (Oliver Platt) uncle of chef Carmen, who is the one financing the new restaurant, sits down to talk to Carmen to teach her a lesson and he does it through a real life event in major league baseball, in a controversial play in the division finals between the Florida Marlins and the Chicago Cubs in 2003.

A young man named Steve Batman is blamed because he did not let Moisés Alou catch a foul ball that would be out for sure, you can look it up on YouTube for more clarity, but that game was already a disaster and the real culprit of the crisis that the team lived that day was Alex González who was not able to catch a single hit by Miguel Cabrera, that was the beginning of a series of errors that did not allow the Cubs after 45 years to go to the World Series.

But no one remembers that this was the mistake that broke the team, everyone remembers Bartman's interference, and prefer to blame a fan who did what anyone would do in a ball game, the moral is that when we make mistakes we tend to excuse ourselves and hide behind a Bartman, the series evokes this moment making a wake-up call to take responsibility and focus on the objectives necessary to achieve our goals, and if we are wrong not spend our lives blaming others.

No matter what age you are it's never too late to progress

My favorite chapter is the seventh of the second season titled 'Forks' we see Richie, who has been working in the restaurant for a long time, he feels like a cousin of Chef Carmen despite not having any family ties, he has been one of the main opponents of change, he is a bitter man, family failure, with little talent, as well as aggressive and unsympathetic.

His cousin Chef Carmen sends him to a 7-day internship at the best restaurant in town, where he starts polishing forks every morning, thinking he has been punished by his cousin for opposing change. During those 7 days he discovers how organized and demanding the best restaurant can be, he feels motivated and manages to join the dynamics of the place, and at 45 years old, when he thought it was too late to discover his talents, he finds himself and has a purpose, he is a new man, going from being the most hated character to someone you respect for giving in to change to evolve.

    Thebear_sep.png

The outstanding and talented is controversial.

This series seems to support an idea that I have heard others discuss about the talent of outstanding characters, such idea points out that a star, a public figure who excels in any discipline, sport, art or craft, must have a chaotic life to be extraordinary in what he or she masters. In the second season we see Carmen finally have a romantic personal life, but it distracts him from his goal of turning the inherited restaurant into the best, affecting him and almost incapacitating him as a good chef.

    Thebear_sep.png

I think this series has something for everyone to identify with, we meet the young woman who wants to excel and after a failure believes she has no more opportunities to excel, we meet the middle-aged man who is in crisis with a life full of mistakes that doesn't fit thinking it's too late to excel, the one who is too old to learn, the one we all admire because he is the star and talented but his life is a disaster and suffers from anxiety, the woman who cares for everyone and seems normal but her big flaw is wanting to repair the damage in others.

It is a series loaded with many facets that anyone can identify with, that teaches us that the key to success is preparation ahead of time, that it is never too late to do it, that you can take what seems untalented and turn it into something extraordinary, if there is commitment and dedication.

Films, documentaries and series about the world of gastronomy are my favorite Top along with Horror although it seems strange, and The Bear with its first season made me a total fan at a time when I really I didn't know any of its main or secondary actors; At the time I did my The Bear First Season Post. Of course, the most expected thing was to enjoy The Bear-Second Season and the time finally came.

The Bear did two things that I totally admire and will always mention as an example of what a great production can do.

The Bear- First Season was so good that with a cast of practically unknown actors it managed to become one of the Series to receive the best recognition from specialized critics, winning several Nominations and Awards among them 13 Emmy nominations and many others, including Best Series, Sound Editing, Direction, Best Screenplay, Cast, Guest Actor Jon Bernthal and of course the performance of its main character Jeremy Allen White.

The Bear Second Season has surprised us by including a bill of great and well-known actors in it, in important roles for the plot, and not even having advertised this to sell us that new installment . That is to say, the success of The Bear is so great that it can include actors even an Oscar Winner, and not having advertised about it to promote the 2nd season, not even in its Official Trailer .

It's just that I was surprised watching a chapter and thinking "Carmen's mom looks like Jame Lee Curtis, that's it... it has to be her... by God it's her!...how can she be?... And so with other actors and actresses that I really admire.

But not only do they have the bill of an Oscar Winner, they have several very successful actors and actresses, and with whom you will surely have an affinity, this was a plus that I did not expect in The Bear Second Season.

The Bear- Second Season continues where the first one left off, in what is the redesign and reconstruction of the restaurant in the hands of its protagonists, they go to an uncle to support them with capital as a partner, he supports but with a significant investment it does so by exerting pressure with the opening of the restaurant and its profitability of course, and everything begins here, planning, purchases, sacrifices, problems, permits, important decisions and the development of each character around this ambitious challenge since they even seek to be a quality and prestigious Haute Cuisine restaurant that can be eligible for stars, and each one assumes it with great commitment but with all individualities and personal problems.

This is how The Bear-Second Season makes the restaurant the medium where he's going to develop each character's arc, and it was a complete delight.

The restaurant The series allowed us to see in many ways everything that is behind the remodeling of a restaurant. How difficult and important the permits are for its operation, we see the team doing the work to reduce costs, the infrastructure problems that are achieved, the contractors and equipment; at the same time the assembly of the menu, the choice of kitchen utensils, etc. It was really interesting to learn about those important and stressful points for people who work in this field.

    image.png The Bear

Professional Preparation Our young protagonists Carmen and Sidney know how important the professional preparation of the team is, so within the investment budget they include courses and internships for their work team, and through chapters dedicated to them we can appreciate those who take advantage of it to grow despite their limitations and problems, and also those who are overwhelmed by having to learn new things.

Family Problems If you thought that the restaurant's problems were the heaviest, most difficult and stressful, I want you to know that it does not compare with what you are going to experience especially watching Chapter 6 "Fish" where we are going to understand all the problems of Carmen's family and where we are going to enjoy the performances of the new bill in this second season.

Although I must confess that I found the tension they put in the scenes of Carmen's mother played by Oscar Winner Jame Lee Curtis exaggerated, I must also admit that her performance was masterful, it shows how disturbing mental illnesses are, how they affect the family and especially each of their children. And if I think about it, there really are Italian families that are this intense, I've known them, so although all that almost forced stress made me a little uneasy, I think that there are families that are that difficult in their relationships.

Personally, I would have liked them to lower that level of stress a bit so that more families or people would feel identified with such difficult family gatherings. It bothered me a little, just a little... But when you add and subtract, well, it was a very good chapter, not my favorite, but very good.

image.png The Bear - Jame Lee Curtis

Gourmet Dishes and Desserts They did not neglect this point at all, despite handling many themes and characters throughout the series; the dishes, preparations, desserts, plating and techniques showed off at all times.

    I value this

a lot since there are films and series about gastronomy that are leaving all this behind, but in The Bear they know how to give everything its place, and it was wonderful once again to have the opportunity to put our noses in each kitchen , making us part of it and allowing us at times even a sensory experience.

WHAT I LIKED LEAST: CARMEN'S ROMANCE I didn't like how they treated Carmen's Romance, I feel that each scene was very forced and full of clichés. The shots so close to both of their faces was very uncomfortable, the romantic music and even the conversations were very unoriginal and not at all relaxed.

I understand the intention and everything that happens with them makes a lot of sense in how it affects Carmen and how things happen, but I didn't like their scenes that were too cheesy for my taste.

Ritchie My Favorite Character of this 2nd Season In the first season this character seemed very irritating and annoying to me. Who has not met such a guy? Every scene with him annoyed me, but in this second season he is the character whose arc has moved me the most, since Carmen sends him to do a Customer Service course or internship or something like that. Ritchi takes it very badly since he believes that he only wants to separate him from the work, but in Chapter 7 "Forks" dedicated to him, we are going to see what is behind the activity of the waiters, the taking of orders, the communication , knowing the client, clothing, codes, etc. This chapter alone can surpass many films on gastronomy. The growth of Ritchie's character and the change in him is something that has touched my heart.

This chapter has left me the phrase that I will always remember from this series and that on a personal level has moved things in me: "EVERY SECOND COUNTS"

    image.png Richie

There is much more to say about this series, about all the characters and that is that each one had an arc, we were able to get to know them more and understand their frustrations, problems and reasons for wanting to improve themselves, each one has a good treatment and you will surely identify with more one's.

The Bear Season Two I think it's about that, about Trying to Be Better despite all the things that happen to us, and how difficult it is, even sometimes it's not enough. Many times we ourselves are the biggest obstacle to overcome, our problems, mental illness, stress, family, etc.

    image.png The Bear

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series, I'm sure it will do it again, it will get great reviews and many awards.

Leave the desire to see a Third Season again.

    ENGLISH

Although in recent days I had put aside the television series for a bit to catch up on several movies that I had pending, I couldn't wait much longer to return to the second season of one of the best projects of last year, the FX series : The Bear.

    p24707272_b_v13_aa.jpg Source

Along with HBO's Succession, The Bear is a perfect example of all the virtues of modern television when it takes full advantage of the nature of its format, creating an intriguing story from a simple premise where a large group of characters all have the chance to shine.

The first season introduced us to Carmy, a rather temperamental chef who had to take over his recently deceased brother's restaurant "The Beef". Taking us on a roller coaster of emotions where we had to deal with the stress of a kitchen at the same time that his protagonist tried to face the ghosts of his past.

    Screenshot_2023-08-03-23-05-07-002_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

    Screenshot_2023-08-03-23-05-19-058_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

As someone who has always been fascinated by the world of cooking in general (especially when it comes to dealing with the public), The Bear seemed to me a fascinating representation of the painful emotional dualism that plagues a family business of this type, debts, staff control, accidents in the kitchen and dealing with government entities are just some of the examples that we see perfectly represented in a black comedy that honestly shouldn't exaggerate too much to impress its audience.

    Screenshot_2023-08-03-23-04-50-760_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

    Screenshot_2023-08-03-23-05-34-576_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

The key? The agility, an accelerated direction that captures the adrenaline of being part of a Kitchen interspersed with brilliant dialogues where any silly discussion can end up giving us gigantic amounts of information about the characters we are seeing.

The Bear season 2 takes these good points and enhances them organically, understanding what made Christopher Storer's creation work in the first place and giving space to new characters that manage to reinforce the overall product.

In this case, we see Carmy's desperate efforts to relaunch the restaurant from scratch by giving it a facelift, fueled by the hidden money his brother Mike left him. To achieve this task, he will need the help of Sydney (played by Ayo Edebiri) and the rest of his former staff.

As I said previously, The Bear has a fairly simple premise and at the end of the day what holds our interest is the excellent quality of all its characters, complex, charismatic, and difficult to pigeonhole as "good" and "bad".

    Screenshot_2023-08-03-23-04-58-522_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

I am very grateful that it remains so consistent and faithful to its essence, despite the fact that every day we are bombarded with absurd amounts of new television series and movies on all streaming platforms, very few cases end up being of such quality.

I became interested in this series after I realized how well-received it was by the public, and because it was a supposed comedy that took place in a restaurant's kitchen.

I sometimes enjoy watching content related to chefs and food preparation, so it was also a reason why I wanted to take a look at this series. The story is about a well-renowned chef who becomes the person in charge of his deceased brother's restaurant, and this chef will have to deal with a lot of issues to make this place a successful business.

I ended up getting a bit tired of the constant yelling among the kitchen workers. It seemed sometimes they were a very dysfunctional team unable to keep the peace and not be chaotic. And I also disliked the lack of sufficient comedic moments, it became clear my expectations were totally off with this series, but I still decided to watch it until the end simply because it was an above-average production.

I would recommend this series but I wouldn't say it is a comedic story but rather a very dramatic one with excessive yelling.

Hello friends, good vibes to all.

As many of you know we are in the middle of awards season, or at least the Emmys are coming, so it is almost an obligation for me to catch up with the great series that have given to talk about and one of them is undoubtedly The Bear. These awards will come in the middle of a strike of screenwriters and actors and it is already known that there will be delays in the premieres of films and series that were announced. But this is not the subject of today, today we come to talk about one of the revelations of last year's series and is currently airing its second season and I say revelation because for example in these upcoming Emmy has 13 nominations.

But it is also because people were fascinated by this story of anxiety, trauma, family, chaos, overcoming, but above all of love for being behind a kitchen trying to do the best possible day after day. At first it was not clear to me in which genre to place this series, is it a drama or a comedy? - I would say that it is a hybrid excellently achieved and there are chapters that are impressive to the point that one as a viewer becomes fully immersed in the disaster of that kitchen feeling the stress on the skin but at the same time with a smile for the interactions and the occurrences of all the characters. So, let's go ahead and talk a little bit about what this incredible story is about.

    Source!

This story begins with Carmen Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a world-class chef, one of the best in the world who must make a career change to take care of the family business. A guy who was working and used to being in the top restaurants on the planet had to return to Chicago after the loss of a family member to run "The Original Beef of Chicagoland" which is a sandwich business. Everything seemed to indicate that after such experience and quality that Carmen had, taking over this small business would not be a challenge; mistake, big mistake. In addition to searching for the perfect harmony among a group of messy cooks, she has to face fears, traumas and sadness caused by family burdens from the past.

Throughout the plot we will see how these relationships within the kitchen are "cooking" little by little to the point that sooner or later that connection that is so much sought may begin to bear fruit. The reality is also that the physical and financial state of that place is a disaster, so everyone's grain of sand will be essential for the restaurant to be saved and at the same time to make a leap in quality, which is what Carmen is looking for in the end, despite the distrust and skepticism of some. So the first eight chapters of this first season will be to see how this place, being a real chaos, tries not to drown among so much fighting, shouting and egos.

I have had several jobs in my life and if there is one in which I can hardly see myself, it is in a kitchen. The respect I feel for people who earn their daily living working in this world is maximum and after having seen this series I reaffirm it even more. It must be said that this is a story where anxiety is another protagonist, one that is in Carmen's head and with it she must deal with everything that represents being the reigning voice of a kitchen. It is a sample of how hard and complicated this job is but at the same time and although it sounds crazy, how rewarding it can be when the stars align and things start to flow. In this restaurant that rarely happens but they keep trying again and again.

The concept of family is another of the things we often see around here, both inside and outside the kitchens. Yes, at the beginning I said that this group of cooks is messy but that does not mean that respect and affection does not exist, many of them have been working together for a long time and yes, they yell at each other, insult each other and make bad faces but somehow they are a machine that manages to keep the Beef from sinking and that is thanks to the roots they have with the place, to see that is very cool. The family outside the kitchens, the Berzatto's, is also another one with its infinite problems and that, depressed by the departure of one of them, they are also in the constant search to be better and try not to die trying. Both families are dysfunctional to the point of being dysfunctional, but the admiration and love between their members is greater than everything.

What I enjoyed the most was the action inside the kitchens, personally I really like to watch cooking shows or reality shows, I think I'm a frustrated cook. But yes, the sliding, the way they prepare the dishes, the recipes, the chaos of mobility in such a small space, is undoubtedly what I enjoyed the most. For example, Marcus (Lionel Boyce) is the restaurant's pastry chef, and all the scenes where he is seen preparing cakes and doughnuts are spectacular, meticulous, well done, giving visual pleasure. In fact, to achieve this, those involved have to have a love for the art and that is very much appreciated here. Nothing to say about all those cooking scenes, brutal each and every one of them.

Characters. There are a few that are paramount. Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Carmen's cousin, is a complicated person and has a lot of internal conflict, it is difficult for him to digest the changes but it is more a matter of sentimentality or feeling than anything else, he is another who was very affected by the death of this family member; even so, he is a pillar of this story. Top character. And the other one I want to mention is Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) who for me is the revelation of this series. Perfectionist, focused, serene, she is the one who will give another air to the restaurant, she is the calm that needs the storm that is always in that kitchen. And well, Jeremy himself is another one that embroiders it in very optimal ways, scenes where he is seen battling with anxiety and sadness or directing the kitchen are the best things in this series. In general all the characters are extremely good and unique.

A series that explores many topics and does it in a way full of tension and comedy where each character is a world that collide in a kitchen to bring out the best and worst in each other. I give it a 9/10, it is one of the best series of last year and the second season is going the same way. It consists of 8 episodes of about half an hour each and is available on HULU and Disney+. I leave the trailer below.

  10. The Bear | You should be dead@jauregui981118d

    image.png

    image.png

After many attempts I was able to watch The Bear, I think I spent two months on this, and it wasn't easy, the anxiety that the first chapters caused me was horrible, my skin itched and I wanted to run away, so no, I preferred not to watch it until I could get used to the idea that this was what I was going to find in the series, taking advantage of the fact that yesterday something traumatic happened to me I decided to give the series a chance again, besides, I saw the pictures of Jennifer Coolidge and Jeremy Allen White, that made me want to watch the series, so I put together the recent trauma with the anxiety that the series causes me and I watched it, and I laughed, and I cried, and I still hate several characters, so I hope I don't poison myself with everything that will possibly come out of me in this review.

Restaurant kitchens are usually hell, that's no secret to anyone, so finding that hell here doesn't surprise anyone, but it does surprise me that that was pretty much all most of the reviews I read talked about, at least the parts I read, or at least it was the part they gave the most importance to, when the reason behind it all was not only more important, but more shocking, but since it's not as visible and tangible as how hellish it can be to share a small space with many people, not everyone gives it the attention it deserves.

    image.png

Carmen, commonly known as Carmy, is one of the best chefs in the world, becoming the youngest chef to work in the best restaurant according to I don't remember who, but he is not in that restaurant, he is running the family business, the Original Beef of Chicagoland, left to him by his brother Michael after he died by suicide, then, Carmy has to do her best to work in a place that reminds her every day what she lost, so she hires Sidney, a great chef that with only her presence and a week of work already has a whole plan in place to change the situation in the business, being this the beginning of a different kind of hell than the one we were introduced to, where we will see the different facets of grief, as well as human nature in general.

I started watching the series because of Carmy and I finished watching it because of Sidney, fuck, Sidney, I love you, thank you for existing. The world and a half already talked about the hell that is cooking in restaurants and other places like that, so I'm not going to talk too much about it, but I will say that I could never and would never work in places like that, the level of hostility was more than I could stand and I would end up going through the same thing as Carmy, but instead of sleepwalking through cooking, I would start stabbing people in the kitchen without realizing it, I don't deal well with hostile situations, and when I can't stand it anymore, it's better that no one is around me.

    image.png

    image.png

I would be Michael, although I don't think so, but I do see myself committing suicide and leaving a lot of problems to the people around me, although in my case the problems I would leave to everyone would be very well justified, it would be fun, when I do it I will need someone to tell me everything that happens after my death by the Ouija board, although it is very likely that I will stay here roaming the world of the living and no one will notice me. Anyway, I need a spin off of Michael's life where we learn in more depth about the problems he had that led him to commit suicide and do the other thing he did before the suicide, that is, an unsurprising plot twist that made me cry, fucking beautiful series that kept me suffering horribly for its entire run.

There are two characters that I completely hate in the series and even though one of them gets better as the chapters go by, nothing justifies what she did and only shows what a shitty person she can become when things start to change and stop being what she knew for half her life, I mean, change is scary, and even more when you are over 50 and those changes are happening because a person who is not even half the age you are is achieving things that you would never dream of, so yes, Tina, you suck, you got better, but I can't stand you. Richie, you evil son of a bitch, and pardon my French, but from the first moment I saw him he shut me up, and as the chapters went by I only felt pity, contempt, and more hatred for him; Richie is the perfect example that trauma explains a person's behavior, but that doesn't justify it at all, so no, I'm sorry that the person you thought was your best friend committed suicide, but that doesn't give you the right to treat everyone around you like shit, especially Sidney, and I'll just say, that everything Sidney said to him when he couldn't stand it anymore gave me a thousand years of life, I wish the stab he gave him would have been worse, but no, that wouldn't be good for the plot. Sidney, I love you, I hope in the second season you keep insulting Richie for a long time.

    image.png

    image.png

The beginning of the first chapter, the beginning of the second chapter, the end of the seventh chapter, the beginning of the eighth chapter, those are my favorite moments of the series, anyway I still like it completely, but those moments I mention are the ones that gave me more mental orgasms. I just hope that the second season is much, much better, that they introduce possibly new characters and give full development to the characters that are already there, and that they please don't make Carmy look so bad. And I'm surprised I've made it this far without having melted thinking about Jeremy Allen White, I hope to dream in the coming days that I marry him and spend all my time caressing his nose and ears.

I'm not going to leave you the trailer because it's worth the life, so instead I'm going to leave you a monologue that Carmy has in chapter eight, which is just the beginning, and it's no spoiler, because although it is a strong and emotional scene, it tells almost nothing at all of the series, so there is no problem in you watching the scene if you haven't seen the series. Don't watch it if you suffer from anxiety, that was horrible for me, that reminds me of I couldn't watch Uncut Gems for the same thing, 15 minutes in I was already tearing the skin off my lips, that was horrible, I should give it another chance.

    image.png

For a long time I had been dying to see "The Bear", the Hulu/Star+ series that seemed to have positively surprised a good portion of the critic, built around a simple but effective premise in which a world-acclaimed chef must take control from his brother's humble restaurant after he decided to end his life.

This same synopsis serves as the starting point for a story where food and the hidden chaos behind a kitchen intermingle, presenting us with a very powerful drama.

It's quite refreshing, considering we're at a point where all the "popular" shows seem to be polarized and it's hard to come up with a project that effectively draws on elements from so many genres without losing its own focus, although The Bear wouldn't really qualify as a drama or comedy in absolute terms, the referential use of crucial aspects of both genres and narrative styles to execute his vision is evident.

The greatest virtue of "The Bear" lies in its frenetic pace, capable of perfectly capturing the dynamics of a kitchen where there are multiple members with different personalities and desires in a state of constant conflict, without neglecting fleeting moments of harmony where all come together to produce something wonderful.

Despite the short duration of each of its episodes, The Bear manages to make us complicit in the aspirations and fears of its protagonists, starting with the tormented chef who tries to keep his brother's restaurant going (without even understanding why he inherited it in the first place) and continuing with the rest of the kitchen staff who do not seem to be entirely happy with the transition that this implies.

Created by Christopher Storer and starring Jeremy Allen White, this is one of the most solid current series that exists, especially attractive for those who feel a passion for food even with all the chaos that involves to produce it.

Movies and series about the whole world around the art of Gastronomy, I am deeply passionate about, because it makes me feel that somehow I enter those kitchens, trailers or schools where the plots are developed; while we meet fascinating characters, cooking techniques, places, tools, styles that are distinguished depending on the places and their culture, recipes and we can even experience sensations or imagine flavors.

For all this and much more is that movies or series about Gastronomy stay in my mind, and are highly motivating, they make me want to clean and organize my kitchen differently, to buy new appliances or utensils, to dare to experiment with new recipes, etc. **That is to say that they not only distract me, but also add to my spirit. It's like when you're little and you go to see a karate movie and then you get home and you want to play karate with your brothers or join that gym. That's how I feel after seeing these topics on the different platforms that we have now.

The Bear is a series that I hadn't really heard of at the time. This Sunday I found a video about the Best Series of 2022 and it was in the ranking. I looked it up and it has only been released in Season 1 with 8 episodes that are not very long, they last around 30 or 40 minutes, except for the last episode that is a little longer. I started watching it while I was sewing some things, and I had to leave the sewing for another time, because the first chapter left me paralyzed, I could not do anything else, I had never seen a series or movie about a restaurant that generated me so much anxiety, not even an action movie has left me so stressed. Everything that happened in that kitchen felt as if I was there, it is incredible what a good story well told achieves, with excellent actors, with a location that itself is another character because you can feel the atmosphere of tension, the smallness of its space, the volatility of a situation in a small space, occupied by big egos, it is a whole sensory experience.

    [Filmaffinity.com - The Bear](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/filmimages.php?movie_id=948192)

The protagonist of the series is the actor Jeremy Allen White, who is the Chef Carmen Berzatto (yes, her name is Carmen in the series) who worked in a luxurious restaurant before and achieved professional studies in gastronomy, we know this by the use of resources such as flashback and by the other characters, that after the death of his brother Micke, he inherited his restaurant The Original Beef in Chicago, which is far from the luxury and the demands of his previous job.

    4.jpg Filmaffinity.com - The Bear

Ebon Moss plays Richie, who is the cousin of the protagonist and has a very strong and impulsive personality, from the first scene he has a very dominant and aggressive presence towards Carmen, and all the tension he generates reaches us.

I think we all have a very "Richie" relative with whom the relationship is very difficult, but you know you can count on him and vice versa. It's a very difficult relationship and from the beginning you're hooked on the character. He was very close to Mickey and misses him a lot too.

Ayo Edebiri is Sydney, a well-prepared girl who looks up to Carmen and wants to work with him because she admires him and has a vision for the Restaurant which she holds in high esteem because it was her father's favorite restaurant, as she mentions.

The Original Beef Restaurant, for me is like another character, which evolves throughout the series, which feels suffocating because of its confined space where so many egos work together, which houses so many industrial safety hazards and one feels the danger of equipment, knives, dirt, etc. and this is changing with the story, before our eyes, as something we long to see better, to overcome, because something in common among all the characters is that they love The Original Beef.

    Imdb.com - The Bear

This series besides giving us a great story, also teaches us about many things related to Gastronomy, with special emphasis on industrial safety measures, cleanliness, codes, customs of the chef and the team, rules like "Do not wipe your hands off the apron " that we learn first hand, as if we ourselves had been working in the Restaurant; and as I am really passionate about this whole world were like teachings that I already have in my memory.

You'll even get recipes or tips during the series, which I wrote down to eventually use and try with my family 😍 and that's a plus.

It has many characters, not only the main ones I mentioned, in fact this is a detail that is part of the vision of the story, since there are many characters, working in a reduced and dangerous space because of the accidents they may have while working, we see all that in not very long chapters, and all that is intended to make us feel the anxiety and stress of all that activity, but they do it without overwhelming us, we do not feel that it is too much, I think it is perfect in how it achieves that goal.

This series is about grief, loss, relationships, family, companionship, effort, about internal struggles and a dream to be better and achieve success, about egos and the different characters that you can identify with in one way or another. I highly recommend it, it is already one of my favorite series for what it made me feel, what I learned and what it achieved internally in me.

I invite you to watch the series, and below is the official trailer subtitled in Spanish.

https://www.serialfiller.org/lastposts This is the future link to the post that I am inviting you to read in the coming days at www.serialfiller.org and which is previewed here

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

Don't miss an episode of Masterchef?

Was your favorite Shameless character Lip?

Is the world of cooking your world?

On June 23, FX released the pilot of an 8-episode TV series starring Jeremy Allen, unforgettable member of the Gallagher family in Shameless. The title is The Bear and it has been enjoyed immensely in America, receiving rave reviews and a lightning renewal for a second season to air in 2023. The series is set in Chicago but unfolds, almost entirely, within a small restaurant, called The Original Beef, owned by a pair of Italian American brothers (or rather one of the brothers as we will find out more in a moment) with the surname Berzatto hence the nickname "The Bear," hence the title of the show. Acclamation even here In the Mind of a SerialFiller? Find out right after the tired, barred face of our dear Jeremy in his not-so-starred chef's outfit.

The first thing that popped into my mind while watching the first few episodes of The Bear was that of awe on many levels. I was amazed by the simplicity, if you will, even the banality, of the idea underlying the entire show. Also astonishing to me was the fact that such a simple idea was also objectively a winning idea to begin with. Last level of amazement concerned, finally, the fact that it seemed wonderfully absurd to me that no one had thought of it before. But what idea are we talking about? Carmine Berzatto (Jeremy Allen) is a chef we would call a star chef here. He is the top chef at the best restaurant in the United States of America. So many sacrifices, unsustainable rhythms, a stifling work atmosphere but the knowledge that he has become the best, one à la Cracco, à la Cannavacciuolo, à la Barbieri just to name a few. And here I hook that amazement. In the year 2022, in a world where reality shows are going crazy that in various ways bring us hands and feet into the world of cooking, be it sophisticated, be it "earth, earth," be it Michelin restaurant, be it trattoria. The audience, in short, is not lacking and is indeed always very willing to be spectators of culinary competitions, mouth-watering contests, food and wine explorations, screaming chefs, mortified and harassed aspiring chefs, and so on. To think that until now no one had ever proposed a TV series set hands and feet in the world of cooking really took me by surprise. It was obvious, quite obvious, that such a series would generate interest and achieve success. Wouldn't it?

Returning to our Carmine, the real essence of the show is represented by his seemingly foolish choice to abandon the order, refinement, sophistication, and elegance of the hottest restaurant of the moment to run the kitchen of "The Original Beef of Chicagoland," a little restaurant in the Chicago suburbs that has been run for years by Carmine's brother Michael. We will discover that, behind this stark and puzzling choice, there is, in fact, Michael's decision to leave the management to Carmine, a brother who is now distant but with whom, as children and teenagers, the relationship was extraordinary. This handover stems not from a simple desire on Michael's part to call his brother back into the fold but, unfortunately, from a bequest in his will made essential by the untimely death of Michael, played by the always-excellent Jon Bernthal (We Own This City, The Premise) capable of fleshing out a character who appeared on video for a couple of minutes throughout the season. Over the course of the season we will discover much more about Michael, his relationship with his brother and the state the restaurant was and is in, but most importantly, we will better understand the psychology of Carmine, a boy of extraordinary talent and immense success but too obsessively locked within his passionate mania for cooking. This vocation required of him an almost total commitment, a commitment that distracted him from his affections, ties and that always exceptional relationship with Michael. Upon Michael's death, Carmine, though he could give up that challenge, though he had the luxury of washing his hands of it or leaving everything in the hands of Michael's lifelong partner, a volcanic Richie, decided to surprise everyone and quit, instead, his highly launched career to give meaning and follow-through to the sacrifices and

Upon Michael's death, Carmine, while being able to give up that challenge, while having the luxury of washing his hands of it or leaving it all in the hands of Michael's lifelong partner, a volcanic Richie, decides to surprise everyone and give up, instead, his highly launched career to give meaning and follow-up to his late brother's sacrifices and dream. A very intense, troubled and difficult story will ensue, exacerbated by the contingent moment (the pandemic crisis) that has brought thousands of establishments to their knees, including "The Original Beef," outclassed by moratoriums and debts and badly reduced from every point of view. Carmine will try to bring his experience, method and vision to the restaurant and all the staff. He will find a brigade that is motley, haphazard, unmotivated and unaccustomed to working with a precise hierarchical order within patterns more like barracks than kitchen. The uphill road, the emerging and ever-renewed difficulties, Richie's hostility, and the debts incurred will provide a challenge that would knock anyone down.

The Bear had the virtue of slipping into a strand that is ultra-seen-and-reviewed on television and that reaps consistently huge success but had never resulted in a serial episodic format. The production, however, had the merit of not settling for a story set in the culinary world, nor of resting on what might have seemed like an assured success but mixed in a very vigorous and dramatic family story, inserting it into the collective drama of covid and the impacts of the pandemic crisis on the restaurant industry. It made use of a Jeremy Allen who had always proven in Shameless to be a guarantee in such emotionally charged, rhythmic, foul-mouthed, adrenaline-fueled, bottom-up products, and the choice was spot-on. Above all, however, FX tried to answer a narrative question that God knows no one has thought of so far (and here the theme of initial astonishment returns): What would happen if a star chef inherited a low-level, heavily indebted establishment with a super-cheap diner menu? Have fun and enjoy!
