Abrasoles amigos amantes del anime ^~^

Me encontraba viendo, una vez más, un anime que me gusta mucho, sin embargo en esta ocasión decidí mirarlo con más atención a sus detalles.

Les hablo del anime “Marmalade Boy” La familia crece, creación de la mangaka Wataru Yoshizumi. El manga comenzó a publicarse en revistas “Ribon” entre los años 1995-1997 donde se logró vender más de diez millones de copias. Su éxito fue tanto que inspiró a que crearán la serie, la cual se emitió en el año 1994 estrenándose en la televisión japonesa.

El anime “Marmalade Boy” La familia crece, cuenta con 76 capítulos además de un ova qué es la que daría pie a entender cómo se propicia la historia. Marmalade Boy cuenta con tan solo una temporada y su estilo “shojo” se deja ver notoriamente. Un estilo muchas veces atribuido solo a espectadoras femeninas, sin embargo es un género que también agrada mucho a los espectadores masculinos (aunque a veces no lo confiesen).

La trama

Esta gira en torno a sus personajes principales. Yuu Matsura, un chico alto, rubio y bien parecido, quien por fuera parece el chico ideal, por dentro guarda problemas que siente no puede expresar o compartir, esto genera que se vea de carácter seco cuando su real esencia es completamente distinta.

Por otro lado, Miki Koishikawa, es una chica completamente distinta, de cabello rojizo y de carácter dulce y jovial. Ella no teme decir lo que siente y sus emociones están muy a flor de piel.

Si lo vemos, ambos son polos opuestos, pero del mismo modo estos polos se atraen al igual que en esta serie.

Cada uno viviendo en sus respectivas familias, se unen gracias a sus padres. Ambas parejas en plan de divorcio, deciden contraer nupcias con sus antiguos amores y es ahí que tanto padre y madre de ambos chicos se casan , es decir, el padre de Yuu se casa con la madre de Miki y viceversa, el padre de Miki se casa con la madre de Yuu. Lo cual provoca un caos en sus vidas.

Ambas parejas en “pro” de sus hijos, deciden vivir todos juntos y así no separarse de sus hijos y estar al pendiente. Cosa que causa algunos conflictos entre ambos, sobre todo en su vida escolar ya que son mirados de manera extraña por este suceso.

En medio de esto vemos como nuevos personajes van apareciendo y de mismo modo sus propias historias, las cuales se entrelazan a las de sus protagonistas. En este anime podemos ver diversos conflictos, los cuales al ver en una primera ocasión uno quizás no logre percatarse, pero al verla más de una vez hace que uno lo analice.

Por ejemplo: Encontramos en primer conflicto, la separación y posterior matrimonio entre los padres podría ser algo normal, pero, la convivencia en conjunto pasa a ser “anormal” ya que los roles al ser compartidos tienden a tergiversarse o desligarse, más aún ya que al ser sus hijos adolescentes, sus padres tienden a salir y dejarlos solos.

En segundo lugar, podemos ver el carácter machista de Yuu, tiende a minimizar las emociones de Miki, la considera infantil, aún sabiendo que él la ama, es ahí que su inseguridad sale a flote en conjunto a sus celos.

Una vez, ambos se confiesan y mantienen un amor en secreto, Yuu no cambia mucho ya que no confía en Miki para decir sus problemas. Por otro lado, al salir nuevos personajes que sienten algo por él, este no pone un freno o límite y permite las actitudes haciendo sentir mal a su novia, además prioriza emociones de amigas a las de su propia novia.

No obstante, Miki, refleja una gran inseguridad lo cual genera que se culpe de la mayor parte de cosas que suceden en la relación, ella idealiza en sobre manera a Yuu y en ocasiones se puede ver su dependencia hacia él. Por otro lado, recibe críticas por parte de Yuu, por ejemplo, acusandola de coqueta cuando solamente se comporta de forma amistosa con sus amigos o compañeros de trabajo. Esto refleja la inseguridad de Yuu quien prefiere culpar a entender que está en un claro problema emocional.

Además, podemos ver el conflicto que vive Meiko, mejor amiga de Miki. Esta chica proveniente de buena familia, mantiene una relación clandestina con su profesor, el señor Namura, aquí podemos ver un tema bastante delicado. En algunos episodios se puede ver como el profesor Namura lucha con sus emociones alejándose de ella, sin embargo la propia Meiko lo persigue. Nuevamente vemos una relación de dependencia la cual proviene de un abandono familiar. Meiko, prácticamente vive sola con su servidumbre, mientras sus padres no se preocupan de ella.

Otros personajes que podemos encontrar con un claro reflejo de egocentrismo serían: la modelo Suzu Sakuma, quien está ciegamente enamorada de Yuu y Tsutumu Rokutanda, ex compañero de Yuu y fiel enamorado de Arimi, quien fuera la primera novia de Yuu. En esta categoría, también podríamos poner a Jinny, compañera de Yuu en Estados Unidos, quien también se enamorara de él creando artimañas para separar a Yuu y Mikki.

Entre esta lista de personajes, creo que podríamos sacar a estos dos personajes, los cuales serían: Arimi y Ginta. Arimi siendo la primera novia de Yuu, entendió al final el fin de su relación sin volverse tóxica, por el otro lado, Ginta, quien fuera el primer interés amoroso de Mikki, también comprende que él no es el escogido. Ambos, Arimi y Ginta, empiezan una relación que a mi modo de ver es la más sana de la serie.

Si seguimos analizando a cada personaje nos daría para ir al psicólogo 😂 y quién sabe qué diagnóstico nos daría.

Ya finalizando la trama, podemos ver que la pareja, pese a todo continuar junta, sin embargo viejos secretos salen a luz haciendo pensar a Yuu qué ambos (Yuu y Miki) son hermanos, sin embargo no pueden alejarse y deciden vivir su amor de todos modos, una cosa que sería ilógica por obvias razones. Por otro lado, este secreto es falso y podemos ver que la desconfianza de Yuu hacía sus padres y no consultar aquella duda en un comienzo provocó grandes problemas y por otro lado ver que ambos tomaban esa decisión deja una extraño reflejo del concepto amor.

I was watching an anime that I really like once again, but this time I decided to pay more attention to the details.

I'm talking about the anime "Marmalade Boy" The Family Grows, created by mangaka Wataru Yoshizumi. The manga began to be published in Ribon magazines between 1995 and 1997, selling over ten million copies. Its success was such that it inspired the creation of the series, which was broadcast in 1994, premiering on Japanese television.

The plot

On the other hand, Miki Koishikawa is a completely different girl, with reddish hair and a sweet and cheerful personality. She is not afraid to say what she feels, and her emotions are very close to the surface.

If we look at it, they are polar opposites, but in the same way, these opposites attract, just like in this series.

Each living with their respective families, they are brought together by their parents. Both couples, who are planning to divorce, decide to marry their former loves, and that is when both the father and mother of the two boys get married, that is, Yuu's father marries Miki's mother and vice versa, Miki's father marries Yuu's mother. This causes chaos in their lives.

Both couples, for the sake of their children, decide to live together so they can stay close to their children and keep an eye on them. This causes some conflicts between them, especially in their school life, as they are viewed strangely because of this event.

In the midst of this, we see new characters appear and their own stories unfold, which become intertwined with those of the main characters. In this anime, we see various conflicts, which may not be apparent at first glance, but upon repeated viewing, cause us to analyze them.

For example: We find in the first conflict that the separation and subsequent marriage between the parents could be something normal, but living together becomes "abnormal" since the roles, being shared, tend to be distorted or disconnected, even more so since their children are teenagers and their parents tend to go out and leave them alone.

Secondly, we can see Yuu's macho character. He tends to minimize Miki's emotions and considers her childish, even though he knows he loves her. This is where his insecurity comes to the surface, along with his jealousy. Once, they both confess their feelings and keep their love a secret, but Yuu does not change much because he does not trust Miki enough to tell her about his problems. On the other hand, when new characters who have feelings for him appear, he does not put a stop to it or set limits, allowing attitudes that make his girlfriend feel bad. He also prioritizes the emotions of his female friends over those of his own girlfriend.

However, Miki reflects a great deal of insecurity, which causes her to blame herself for most of the things that happen in the relationship. She idealizes Yuu excessively, and at times her dependence on him is evident. On the other hand, she receives criticism from Yuu, for example, accusing her of being flirtatious when she is only behaving in a friendly manner toward her friends or coworkers. This reflects Yuu's insecurity, who prefers to blame her rather than understand that he is clearly in emotional turmoil.

In addition, we can see the conflict experienced by Meiko, Miki's best friend. This girl, who comes from a good family, has a secret relationship with her teacher, Mr. Namura, which is a rather delicate issue. In some episodes, we can see how Mr. Namura struggles with his emotions and distances himself from her, but Meiko pursues him. Once again, we see a relationship of dependency that stems from family abandonment. Meiko practically lives alone with her servants, while her parents do not care about her.

Other characters who clearly reflect egocentrism include model Suzu Sakuma, who is blindly in love with Yuu, and Tsutumu Rokutanda, Yuu's former classmate and loyal lover of Arimi, who was Yuu's first girlfriend. In this category, we could also include Jinny, Yuu's classmate in the United States, who also falls in love with him and devises schemes to separate Yuu and Mikki.

From this list of characters, I think we could remove two characters: Arimi and Ginta. Arimi, being Yuu's first girlfriend, finally understood the end of their relationship without becoming toxic. On the other hand, Ginta, who was Mikki's first love interest, also understands that he is not the chosen one. Both Arimi and Ginta begin a relationship that, in my opinion, is the healthiest in the series.

On the other hand, perhaps a little more childish and capricious, we find Michael, an exchange student who lives with the Koishikawas and is also in love with Mikki, and Keik Tsuchiya, a renowned pianist who is also in love with Mikki. When she ends her relationship, both enter into a childish competition for her heart, but Kei understands that this competition will lead nowhere.

If we continue analyzing each character, we would need to go to a psychologist 😂 and who knows what diagnosis they would give us.

As the plot comes to an end, we see that the couple, despite everything, remain together. However, old secrets come to light, leading Yuu to believe that they (Yuu and Miki) are siblings. Nevertheless, they cannot stay away from each other and decide to live out their love anyway, something that would be illogical for obvious reasons. On the other hand, this secret is false, and we can see that Yuu's distrust of his parents and his failure to consult them about his doubts at the beginning caused major problems. Furthermore, seeing that both of them made that decision leaves a strange reflection of the concept of love.

Marmalade Boy, the family grows, although it is a good anime, its plot is quite strange, with delicate themes and strange personalities, many of which we would not like to know.

This is my personal opinion and does not seek to interfere with that of others.

Hola amigos cinéfilos, hoy quiero hablarles de una propuesta que estoy esperando hace rato, les hablo de la película de Popeye, protagonizada por Yessica Alba, Willd Smith y Dewaine Yacson. Quien no ha visto o ha oido hablar de Popeye, el marinero que adquiere super fuerza al comer una lata de espinacas, sus aventuras de comedias y la locura con su novia. Jajajaja. Espero que esta propuesta del próximo año sea como me imagino, con los actores espectaculares, creo que valdrá la pena la espera. Coméntame que piensas de esta venidera película, te gustaría verla. This is one of the latest MGM+ exclusive series that is supernatural show of sorts with a few elements of thriller or horror in it. It also appears to be some sort of teenage drama to get the highly sought after youth market potentially interested.

The series is based on a Stephen King novel and at least for me, this is normally a sign that things have more of a potential to go wrong than they do to go write. I am one of those people of the opinion that while King has a lot of great books out there that two things are a problem anytime you are dealing with him: Most of his books have had bad film and television adaptation and the second thing is that the man has so much material, I believe more than 100 books, that not all of them are going to be great, especially not the ones that have complicated plots that are difficult and expensive to present on screen.

That being said I am keeping an open mind and have thus far, seen all of the episodes and most am not impressed up to this point.

The story is broad and it could change perspective as the show progresses but thus for it is told mostly through the perspective of Luke, who is a child genius with incredible potential that one day wakes up in a replica of his bedroom only to discover that he has been kidnapped by a institute that appears to be part of the government, and he and other teens that have "powers" that are yet untapped are being trained to help with something yet to be defined. Something that is described as being one of the most important directives in the world.

We are not made very aware of what that actually is, but I would be willing to bet that because that this is a Stephen King story, that the institute is mostly doing bad things.

The administrators of the facility for the most part are rather strange people and some of them are sadists or spooky people that mostly leave the kids that they kidnap to themselves. The kids aren't really given a choice in whether or not they will participate, but basic positive and negative reinforcement is used at will including beatings for negative and tokens for the snack machines as a positive.

There are not very many children in the institute but we are slowly introduced to all of them and here is where the show kind of lost me. I make no secret of the fact that I am not a fan of child actors unless they are truly exemplary and unfortunately there just aren't very many truly gifted child actors. Not everyone can pull a Macaulay Culkin.

With the exception of unknown actor Joe Freeman who plays Luke, these kids can barely act at all and their performances just come across as amateurish. It doesn't help that Stephen King lost the ability to write a convincing child or teenager decades ago and the attempts and getting modern slang "correct" in the dialogue is extremely cringe.

The adult actors don't fare much better and the cast is mostly a who's who of who cares: Mary-Louise Parker is a standout here and I am thinking that she is going to be the only person in the cast that anyone recognizes although you probably aren't going to be sure why you recognize her.

She plays the role of an administrator of the Institute and it is clear in just two episodes that she is going to have a crisis of conscious as the series goes on. Mark my words.

There is a yet unrelated "side show" about a wandering pretty-boy who takes up a nighttime job at a nearby police station involving the only other person in the cast that can act, Ben Barnes. He plays the role of "Tim" and while we don't know in what capacity he ends up being involved in the main story, it is evident that he will be. For now, he is just quickly becoming a small town, Maine, hero in the local community - which by the way is an incredibly diverse town despite the fact that the actual Maine isn't diverse at all. King and MGM must still have DEI overlords because they tick a lot of racial and sexual-orientation boxes in just the first episode.

The story is meant to take place in small town Maine, but it is very clearly filmed in Canada, which is where almost all experimental and low-budget projects are filmed. I say this because you can hear it in the accents that a majority of the cast are not American. If you are American or know a lot of Canadians you will pick up on this right away as well. There's nothing wrong with this, but when this happens it is usually a good indicator that they are working with very little money and had to hire local talent which is why there are not a lot of hyperlinks on their wiki page - these people are mostly brand new actors and actresses and it definitely shows.

The sets don't fare much better either as the Institute itself, which is supposed to be a highly sophisticated clandestine structure, looks cheap and resembles more of an unused old school or factory than it does a state-of-the-art facility in modern times.

MGM doesn't disclose what their budget is but I can guarantee you that it isn't very much and this is clear in virtually every single scene in the series.

Should I watch it?

For most people I think this should be a hard pass but give it an episode if you need convincing. This is not a great show but it does kind of appear that it maybe could have been if they had significantly more money to play around with than they do. With such limited production capacity it shouldn't really be all that surprising that a grand scale thriller series can't really showcase what they were hoping for.

Stephen King's name doesn't really mean that much anymore seeing as how he appears to be willing to sell his IP's for just anyone that is willing to pay anything for them and for this one, it couldn't have been very much but what does King care? He doesn't appear to care at all seeing as how everything he cranks out gets turned into some sort of film or series.

I will say this though: I continue to watch it just to see how cringe and awful it will be and if it can get worse. I think it can and they are working on doing that. Normally the worst episodes of any series come in the middle and since there are only 8 episodes in total, 3-5 (the ones that are getting released next) should be absolute bangers in the awful category.

Filled with bad acting, cheap sets, and almost entirely unlikable characters, I can't really come up with much reason to watch this at all outside of seeing what sort of stupid S**T they are going to do next.

While this has a high IMDB rating, from what I have read almost all of the high rated ones seem AI generated whereas the low end ones are filled with spelling mistakes and seem more genuine. Those sites really can't be trusted anymore but if you watch just one episode you will understand that while I might not be correct in totally panning it, there is NO WAY that this is 7.8/10 like their IMDB rating suggests.

Aunque siempre he sido más fanático del universo de DC, las películas en live action no habían sido las mejores, siendo infructuosos los múltiples intentos para crear un universo como el de Marvel. James Gunn tenía entre sus manos una tarea muy difícil, pues iniciar este nuevo reinicio con Superman era un reto, y si soy sincero, no tenía demasiadas expectativas, pero aunque creo que no es la mejor película basada en los cómics de DC, pudimos ver una faceta más humana del hombre de acero, alejado de esa mística de semidiós de otras entregas, encontrando un correcto equilibrio entre comedia y acción, incluso desarrollando un entremado de temas políticos y sociales, que no se sienten tan pesados y dan más profundidad al relato.

Although I've always been more of a fan of the DC universe, the live-action films hadn't been the best, with multiple attempts to create a universe like Marvel's being unsuccessful. James Gunn had a very difficult task on his hands, since starting this new reboot with Superman was a challenge, and if I'm honest, I didn't have too many expectations, but although I think it's not the best film based on DC comics, we were able to see a more human side of the Man of Steel, far from the demigod mystique of other installments, finding the right balance between comedy and action, even developing an interweaving of political and social themes, which don't feel so heavy and give more depth to the story.

Antes de la trama, quiero empezar hablando de las interpretaciones de Superman, Lois Lane y Lex Luthor, quienes fueron los que más me gustaron de la película, y en quienes se centra toda la historia. Como ya dije, aquí vemos alejada esa imagen de semidiós de superman, y aunque a muchos no les ha gustado eso, pienso que es algo más realista, ya que por ejemplo, en la escena de la entrevista con Lois en su apartamento, vemos como se enoja, como no siempre tiene una respuesta, llegando a frustrarse, y aunque seas el más poderoso del mundo, la vida y las situaciones no siempre las podemos resolver solo con el ideal de tratar de mejorar al mundo, más aún cuando aparentemente, todavía eres un nuvato como héroe, además todo es un efecto mariposa, no sabemos si nuestras acciones, a la larga, pueden traer más dolor.

Before the plot, I want to start by talking about the performances of Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, who were my favorites in the film, and on whom the whole story focuses. As I said, here we see a departure from that demigod image of Superman, and although many have not liked that, I think it is somewhat more realistic, since for example, in the interview scene with Lois in her apartment, we see how he gets angry, how he doesn't always have an answer, becoming frustrated, and even if you are the most powerful in the world, life and situations cannot always be resolved only with the ideal of trying to improve the world, even more so when apparently, you are still a novice as a hero, besides everything is a butterfly effect, we do not know if our actions, in the long run, can bring more pain.

Ese enfoque del hombre de acero contrasta con Lois Lane, quien no ve la amabilidad de las personas de la misma forma, y más allá de antagonizar a Clark, pienso que intenta darle otra visión de los hechos, protegiéndolo desde su propia forma de ser, mostrando una versión del personaje más cercana a lo que yo conocí inicialmente en series y películas, alejándose de esa primera versión de los cómics, que solo existía para complacer. Por último, pero no menos importante, Lex Luthor, un acierto total, probablemente lo que más me gustó, porque demuestra la inseguridad y envidia que cualquier humano podría tener ante un ente superpoderoso, que solo por ser quien es, puede dominar al mundo a placer, sin ningún tipo de esfuerzo, mientras que tu a base de ingenio, estas a su merced (aunque es un poco más megalomaniaco de lo normal).

That approach of the Man of Steel contrasts with Lois Lane, who does not see the kindness of people in the same way, and beyond antagonizing Clark, I think she tries to give him another vision of the facts, protecting him from her own way of being, showing a version of the character closer to what I initially knew in series and movies, moving away from that first version of the comics, which only existed to please. Last but not least, Lex Luthor, a total success, probably what I liked the most, because it shows the insecurity and envy that any human could have before a super-powerful entity, who just because of who he is, can dominate the world at will, without any effort, while you, based on ingenuity, are at his mercy (although he is a little more megalomaniacal than usual).

Los secundarios también estuvieron excelentes, la venezolana María de Faria no desentonó, como la ingeniera, tuvo varias escenas de acción y se vió bien, resaltando que al no ser conclusiva su participación, seguro será parte de próximos proyectos de DC. El linterna verde de Guy Gardner fue muy diferente a las versiones que hemos visto en otros proyectos, mencionando a los Green Lantern Corps, lo que promete expandir más este universo, pero de los secundarios fue Mister Terrific quien se llevó todos los reflectores, tuvo un peso importante en la trama, pese a no ser un héroe tan conocido fuera de los cómics. Kryto el perro maravilla hizo un debut sólido, vemos que su comportamiento es por su dueño, Supergirl, y aunque fue completamente modelado por efectos especiales, basándose en el mismo perro del director, sus interacciones se sintieron muy orgánicas.

The supporting cast was also excellent. Venezuelan María de Faria was a great fit as the engineer. She had several action scenes and looked good, highlighting that since her participation is not conclusive, she will surely be part of upcoming DC projects. Guy Gardner's Green Lantern was very different from the versions we've seen in other projects, mentioning the Green Lantern Corps, which promises to expand this universe even more. But of the supporting cast, it was Mister Terrific who stole the spotlight. He had an important role in the plot, despite not being a well-known hero outside of comics. Kryto the Wonder Dog made a solid debut. We see that his behavior is due to his owner, Supergirl, and although he was completely modeled by special effects, based on the director's own dog, their interactions felt very organic.

Hablando de la trama, vemos como este Superman no tiene una historia de inicio per se, sino que más bien vemos sus inicios como héroe novato, mostrándonos cierta cosas de su pasado, que demuestran el porqué de su personalidad, sumado, a que en esta ocasión, su padre no muere en su infancia. Su mundo ya tenía conocimiento de los metahumanos previamente a su existencia, pero su poder es algo definitorio, pues parte de la humanidad lo ve como una amenaza, haciendo que la historia de sus padres kryptonianos genere tanta incomodidad, a sí como que justifica el equipo que estaba formando Luthor, quien bajo las sombras, ideó todo y creó esos universos de bolsillo, que probablemente serán muy importantes para integrar otros personajes de DC, pues se rumorea que el Peacemaker que hizo un cameo en las noticias, no es el mismo que el de la serie, aunque ojalá que no, pues allí ya se hizo mención a Batman.

Speaking of the plot, we see how this Superman does not have a coming-of-age story per se, but rather we see his beginnings as a rookie hero, showing us certain things from his past, which demonstrate the reason for his personality, added to the fact that this time, his father does not die in his childhood. His world already had knowledge of metahumans prior to their existence, but his power is something defining, since part of humanity sees him as a threat, making the story of his Kryptonian parents generate so much discomfort, as well as justifying the team that Luthor was forming, who under the shadows, devised everything and created those pocket universes, which will probably be very important to integrate other DC characters, since it is rumored that the Peacemaker who made a cameo in the news is not the same as the one in the series, although I hope not, since Batman was already mentioned there.

Otro cosa que no me cuadro del todo fue el tono de la película, pues aunque siempre se han hecho chistes con la oscuridad de DC, comparado con las historias de Marvel, Gunn le dió su toque más vivo a este nuevo universo, con mucha similitudes a su saga de Guardianes de la Galaxia. Hay una escena con Jimmy Olsen donde se ven las calles de Metrópolis, muy distantes al ambiente del resto de la película, y aunque eso me hizo pensar que en zonas de esas características más oscuras podrían desarrollarse las historias de Batman, por ejemplo, no estoy seguro si se mantendría del todo la esencia del caballero de noche, por lo que me muero de ganas de ver la segunda temporada de Peacemaker, para ver si mantiene el tono de esa primera, que realmente me gustó.

Another thing that didn't quite fit me was the tone of the film, because although there have always been jokes about the darkness of DC, compared to Marvel stories, Gunn gave his most lively touch to this new universe, with many similarities to his Guardians of the Galaxy saga. There's a scene with Jimmy Olsen where you can see the streets of Metropolis, very distant from the atmosphere of the rest of the film, and although that made me think that in areas with those darker characteristics the stories of Batman, for example, could develop, I'm not sure if the essence of the Dark Knight would be fully maintained, so I'm dying to see the second season of Peacemaker, to see if it maintains the tone of the first one, which I really liked.

En conclusión, la película no es perfecta, tiene muchas conveniencias de guión y algunas decisiones polémicas, como el de cambiar el origen de los padres kryptonianos o la nueva Supergirl, que si dista muchísimo de la imagen general del personaje, han causado mucho escozor en algunos fanáticos, pero dentro de todo, pienso que no están tan mal, solo quieren mostrarnos una realidad diferente de estos personajes, basándose un poco más en nuestros tiempos, sin llegar a ser tan exagerados con esa ola de inclusión forzada que tanto me tiene cansado. Tal vez abusan un poco del discurso político y social, llevándolo casi a un calca de nuestra misma sociedad, pero como siempre Superman ha sido un estandarte de paz y de que siempre podemos ser mejores, no llega a eclipsar tanto la trama y la historia del primer superheroe de la historia.

In conclusion, the film is not perfect, it has many script conveniences and some controversial decisions, such as changing the origin of the Kryptonian parents or the new Supergirl, which although it is very far from the general image of the character, has caused a lot of irritation in some fans, but all in all, I think they are not so bad, they just want to show us a different reality of these characters, based a little more in our times, without being so exaggerated with that wave of forced inclusion that has me so tired. Maybe they abuse the political and social discourse a little, taking it almost to a carbon copy of our own society, but as Superman has always been a banner of peace and that we can always be better, it does not overshadow so much the plot and the story of the first superhero in history.

It follows a food researcher, Shin Ha-Ri (Kim Se-jeong) who worked hard to earn her money, Shin Ha-ri was the best friend of a chaebol—Jin Young-seo (Seol In-ah); they supported each other through everything. Young-seo was adamant on getting married as her parents always arranged blind dates for her, on one of these blind dates, she convinced her best friend Shin Ha-ri to go in her place to scare off the suitor—promising her some bucks.

However, the situation took an unforeseen twist when the man Shin Ha-ri (in place of Yong-seo) was to go on a blind date with, was the strict CEO of the company she worked for—Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-Seop).
Tae-moo, on the other hand, gave in to his grandfather's constant matchmaking and decided to marry her without realizing Shin Ha-ri was an impersonator and also his employee. If you are a lover of contract relationships, rom-coms, office romance and strong second leads, then you’re in for a good watch. I'm such a big fan of Ahn Hyo-Seop, In Business proposal, Ahn Hyo-Seop delivered an interesting performance as the CEO. The chemistry between the first couple leads and second couple leads are electric and well-balanced.

Business Proposal was the second K-drama I ever watched after Alchemy of souls and it remains one of the best out there. I highly recommend.

I went into watching Superman not knowing what to expect. I didn’t look at any reviews bed or watching the film but still wanted to see the movie based on fomo.

Overall, Superman wasn’t a bad movie. It was slightly mid, but something I was still able to enjoy.

The feel of the new Superman movie was different than recent DC movies due to them going with a new director. This was a good move! I liked the Justice League movies even though each heroes movie all felt like the same story with a different costume. But Superman (2025) is way different. It’s not completely dark, it has a bit of humor throughout the movie, and a straight up action movie more so than an action-drama. It kinda feels a modernized live action version of the Superman cartoons I grew up watching in the 90s.

The new character Superman is cool. He’s a high moral character guy and he’s Superman without being overpowered. He kicks some ass but he has to rely on his team quite a bit throughout the movie.

The supporting team, The Justice Gang and Krypto, were nothing like what you’d expect from watching the movie trailers. Hawk girl was pretty badass. The Green Lantern was cool due to his powers but borderline douchebag. But I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Fantastic! He was totally different than what I expected based off the trailer and added a lot of entertainment value. Same thing with the dog Krypto. Not what you’d expect to see based off the trailer, but anytime he’s on the screen he’s entertaining af!

Lex Luthor just didn’t feel like that good of a character to me. I personally enjoyed Jesse Eisenberg‘s version of Lex Luthor a lot more than this one. Nicholas Hoult’s version of Lex was a greedy egomaniac fueled by jealousy as he should be, but he just didn’t feel like a genius to me. He just seemed like a jealous hater who studied Superman’s every move out of obsession. He was more of a weirdo

Even though Superman (2025) left some things to be desired, it wasn’t a bad movie. There wasn’t anything that blew me away but there was enough entertainment between the action, characters, and storyline to keep me interested in the movie. Overall, I’d rate Superman (2025):

I have a lot of weeks and even months to write an Anime review, so here i go. To begin with, a few months ago and due to nostalgia, i got in the trading card games, not to play the games or for investment purposes, though. I said the main drive was nostalgia and besides that i saw some freaking awesome full art cards.

So i started with Pokemon cards, then bought some One Piece cards, then Dragonball and now i am waiting for my first Digimon booster box. Also, i now have like 4-5 different Master's sets to complete :p! Btw the art is amazing, start collecting noooow!

So even though i have watched a lot of the Pokemon series, and everything related to Dragon Ball and One Piece i remember dropping Digimon since i was a kid. I have watched the first ones but I dropped it at Digimon Tamers. I decided a 1-2 weeks ago to start rewatching it especially now that i am waiting the booster box in order to know more about the lore of the cards I'll obtain. I won't do any Spoilers though!.

Plot

Digimon Tamers came out in Japan from April 2001 to March 2002 and has 51 episodes in total. This was the good era when we had no seasons and everything aired weekly.

Our protagonist is Takato Matsuki, who played the Digimon card game and always dreamed of having a Digimon on his own, to the point that he had already drawn it. Somehow, his card reader transforms into a D-Power Digivice and his creation Guilmon, comes to life. A strange digimon known as Calumon comes to the real world and has some strange powers that helps other digimon evolve.

This is basically the root of the adventure as some Digimon that live in the Digiworld are hunting it while the protagonist and his friends are trying to protect it.

Good & Bad

Now the good things are the nostalgia that hit me when i saw it. I was still remembering some of the characters, digimon and their evolution and in fact had a toy when i was younger from this series. Also, the animation from this era was great.

Something else i really liked and having being to Japan was the history ride of Japan in 20s. Such an amazing way to see how everything was like 25 years ago. Last but not least the voice actors of Guilmon is freaking MASAKO NOZAWA the voice of GOKUUUUUUU!

Finally, in terms of the good things, Digimon are quite darker and far from their era in terms of the plot in general and from the competitor, which is Pokemon. I think a reason why Digimon didn't have the same impact as Pokemon was that while it targeted kids, it is an anime that, in terms of plot and darkness it's towards older kids.

The only bad thing i have to say is that the fights or most of the fights to be accurate, are extremely lame. It's like one attack from the enemy, one attack from the protagonist and boom, the battle ended. Also, another pattern is the enemy digimon attacks, the protagonist attacks as well but does zero damage. The digievolution happens and with one hit the enemy digimon loses. In other words, most of the fights have close to zero suspense and interest whatsoever. Also, for far mostly every digimon has like 1 move.

Apple TV dropped Murderbot couple of weeks ago and Im just starting to catch up on some of the TV series, I wasn't expecting to get this hooked on a cyborg having an existential crisis but here we are. Its kinda different watching a Robot come up with so much drama, not your typical robot show where some shiny android learns to love humanity through heartwarming moments and cheesy dialogue or go totally rogue on humans, this is about a security unit that hacked its own programming and now spends most of its time watching soap operas while secretly wanting to avoid human contact at all costs, not only because he finds humans stressing but to not blow his cover. Alexander Skarsgard voices this antisocial killing machine with the kind of stealth although not dead man style that makes you forget you're watching a sci fi show, it feels more like listening to your most introverted friend complain about having to attend a work party or just been around others in the office cafeteria. The story could not be more simple but brilliant, take a corporate owned security robot, give it free will and watch it realize that freedom is way more complicated than just jail breaking himself, especially when you are stuck protecting the very species you find incredibly annoying. I found the first episode very entertaining as I can relate a lot to the introverted bot, the series doesnt try to be an action series even though there is some shooting and monsters but its more about how Murderbot tries to be as stealth as possible between humans, its neither about be profound or preachy about artificial intelligence, instead it just lets our reluctant hero bitch about everything while secretly caring more than it wants to admit.

The episode starts with this cyborg finishing up a mining gig where the human workers treat it like garbage, using it as entertainment by making it raise its arm for no reason except to be assholes, I think this was the OG flashbacks he kept getting before going full murderbot, he mention several times how they get recycled so I wonder if a little piece of that falty software or material stay with him. Six months of been treat like crap and our future murderbot finally cracks the code on its governor module, the thing that forces it to obey every human command no matter how stupid or degrading and suddenly it's free to make its own choices. But instead of going on a killing spree or escaping to some distant galaxy, it does something weirdly human, it goes back to work because the alternative is getting melted down by the corporation that owns it. He self named Murderbot, he then gets assigned to a new team of scientists from some hippie commune called Preservation Alliance and right away you can tell these people are different because they actually feel bad about essentially renting a sentient slave for their expedition. Dr. Mensah and her crew are describe as these well meaning environmental researchers who hold hands and hum together to make group decisions, which obviously makes our cynical cyborg want to crawl into a corner and die from secondhand embarrassment, I think we going to get a lot of context and character development on this series as how they started describing every other person that comes up going through the entire team.

Things get interesting when a giant centipede creature attacks two of the scientists during their survey work, forcing Murderbot to spring into action and save them even though it technically doesn't have to anymore but all he wants is to continue downloading content and avoid humans, does this cyborg goes full pirate on the humans downloading all kind of content? a moving Piratebay? jajaja thats hilarious. This rescue scene is where we see the real conflict at its core, our rogue bot could have just stood there and watched these people get eaten but instead it throws itself into danger to protect them, getting seriously injured in the process and the aftermath is even more complex because when one of the scientists freezes up in shock, Murderbot removes its helmet to show its human like face and tries to comfort her by basically saying "everything will be alright, you got my word", something it learned from watching too much television. Taking off his helmet make him look vulnerable and ends up being a huge mistake because it's completely outside normal security behavior, leading to suspicion from the team's tech expert who starts questioning whether their protection is malfunctioning or worse almost blaming Murderbot of them not getting proper secure data about their maps or worst been it operating outside of the system control. Right from episode one there seems to be this perfect balance between the action sequences with character development, never felt one sided, showing us that beneath all the sarcasm and misanthropy, there is something heroic about this character that it doesn't even recognize in itself. You can feel the internal struggle as Murderbot grapples with having choices for the first time while still being trapped by circumstances beyond its control, creating this perfect metaphor for anyone who has ever felt stuck in a job they hate but can't leave.

The mystery element kicks in when the team realizes their corporate supplied maps are missing crucial information about dangerous wildlife which explains why nobody warned them about the giant death worms lurking underground, but then again their tech leader Gurathin, who is a human with implants that enhance his capabilities, still believes there is something wrong with their security cyborg when in fact was never his fault, you will grow a grudge against this Gurathing for sure. There is definitely some corporate conspiracy building up, probably involving the same company that manufactures security units and then deliberately creates situations where they are absolutely necessary for survival. While all this is going on the core of the series starts to heat up as Murderbot is dealing with fragmented memories of its previous assignment, seven seconds of footage showing what appears to be a massacre involving security units and dead humans but it can't tell if he was the perpetrator or just witnessed the violence. These flashbacks add a dark enigma to the character that keeps you guessing about whether our security unit might actually be dangerous, even though everything we have seen suggests it's more likely to quote soap opera dialogue than hurt innocent people. The social relationship between the team members create additional tension as they debate whether to trust their obviously unusual security unit, with some seeing it as a person deserving of kindness while others view it as a potentially lethal piece of equipment that needs to be shut down immediately. The episode ends with Dr. Mensah checking on Murderbot's wellbeing, a gesture of genuine care that completely terrifies our antisocial hero because it's never experienced anyone treating it with basic human decency before, all he does is day dream how he kills every human around him to not blow his cover.

I know this show is going to be so relatable for many, I actually do a 100% from the point that most of the time I enjoy been alone and not having people around me but there are sometimes when I do want to go out and do it to feel different for a moment until I go back to the same capsule mode, this time combine those circumstances with a literal cyborg assassin, every awkward social interaction and desperate attempt to avoid human contact feels like watching someone with severe social anxiety trying to navigate a workplace full of extroverts. The series has this perfect balance between humor and emotions, making you laugh at Murderbot's internal monologue while also feeling sorry for a being that's trapped between two worlds without belonging to either one. Alexander Skarsgard brings exactly the right energy to this role, delivering the kind of dry, self deprecating personality that makes you forget you are watching someone play a robot instead of just a really antisocial person. The production values are solid without being flashy, creating a believable future world where corporate capitalism has extended its reach across the galaxy and turned sentient beings into rental equipment. This first episode sets up what promises to be a fascinating exploration of identity, freedom, and the question of what it means to be human when humanity itself seems pretty questionable most of the time, all wrapped up in a package that's entertaining enough to make you forget you're getting a philosophy lesson. I'm giving this one an 8 out of 10 because it manages to be funny, thoughtful and truely engaging while avoiding most of the pretentious bullshit that usually comes with AI stories, definitely worth watching if you just want to see a robot complain about having to give speeches.
