Today i decided to watch the new Karate Kid movie. In general in case you don't know the whole franchise the first movie was released all the way back in 1984 and was iconic back then. Due to the success, we got another one in 1986 and a third one in 1989. The star of the movie back then was Daniel or Ralph Macchio and his teacher, Mr. Miyagi.

Btw there was another one out in 1994 with Mr. Miyagi training a girl and ofc it ended badly. 2010 brought as another Karate Kid but this time the teacher was the one and only Jackie Chan and the student was Jaden Smith. It was a fresh movie and not that bad to be honest.

Then the miracle that is called Cobra Kai came to life. It is a series that was released in 2018 and ended on 2025 with 6 freaking seasons. There we get to see Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence being adults, how life is going for them and how they decided to start training new kids in the art of Karate.

The series is quite good and have that nostalgia feeling all the way. It's literally like you watch a movie from back then don't expect anything fancy in terms of fighting. It has an 8.4/10 in IMDB.

Now, after that short history lesson and the success of the series i don't know who but they decided to have another Karate Kid film but this time combining Jackie Chan and Daniel.

Plot

In Karate Kid Legends we got Li Fong a Kung Fu Prodigy who leaves with his mom in Beijing and trains at his uncle's dojo. His uncle is basically Jackie Chan. His mother doesn't want him to practise Kung Fu because she considers it the reason her other son died. She gets a new job in New York and Li travels with her.

There, quickly he meets Mia a girl of his age who works at a nearby Pizzeria with her father. They become friends and more than that but Mia's ex is the top dog in terms of Karate in the area. So things get heat up, Li seems to be holding back and losing in a fight but a couple of days later he beats 3 adults pay collectors who come after Mia's father.

Her father surprised and astonished, ask him to teach him Kung Fu in order to participate in a tournament to earn some money and pay off his debt. During the match, he gets some unfair hits and get to the emergency room. Li to help him out enrolled to the Karate tournament where Mia's ex is the winner for 5 year in order to earn the prize money (50k) and help out.

Jackie Chan comes all the way from China to train LI and also asks the help of Daniel for that. You can guess the outcome i think!

Good & Bad

In general it's a decent movie but nothing spectacular. When i see Jackie Chan in a movie i know that the fight scenes will be good and also funny and that's exactly what happened. All the actors did a pretty good job as well.

Now, in terms of the scenario, i really didn't like it at all, it seemed quite fast paced. Like how the hell out of nowhere you come to New York with millions of people and you end up during the first 2 days to not only find a beautiful girl that you pretty much like and become close friends, you also beat up 3 adults with weapons but you lose to a kid of your age.

At the same time both of them start having feelings for each other, you start teaching out of nowhere an adult Kung Fu, end up in an underground tournament and participate in another one. Also, Jackie has like secret asian prophet capabilities to sense that he is needed in New York.

Honestly,i would give it a 5.5/10 and that's because it's Jackie in there!

At the beginning of the movie, it is shown that many people are jumping into a big set because there is a hand fight in the middle of it, meaning boxing in the ring, or you can say kickboxing or hand fight, and they are exchanging money, you can say gambling in a word. In the middle of it, two friends bet on a fighter. The fighting is shown in the beginning, a different kind of excitement will work inside you in the beginning because the kind of scene shown in the beginning of the movie will make you want to watch the next scene. I like the beginning.

The story of the movie is very beautiful, a blind boy is murdered according to plan by one of those gangsters. And make the incident in such a way that someone else or you, can say a third party has done this murder. But after uncovering the truth, Hero is the main character of this movie. In this way, the director has tried to present the incident beautifully. If the director wanted to work a little harder, this event could have been presented more beautifully, since the director has tried a lot to introduce suspense, either he succeeded or he needed to work a little more.

Just when the anime world was getting boring, LAZARUS suddenly appeared—a futuristic action thriller that MAPPA and Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe brought together to create a different experience. And if we say that the action choreography was done by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, then you can understand what a blast it is.

Plot

The year is 2052. The world has a magical medicine—Hapuna, which removes all pain and disease from the body. Everyone lives and is happy. But the fun ends when the inventor of this medicine, Dr. Skinner, announces—Hapuna will kill everyone within 3 years! Meanwhile, people have already eaten it in droves.

From here begins the campaign of a special task force called “Lazarus”. They will stop Skinner. And they have only 30 days to go.

Positive Aspects

• Action: The very lifeblood of the series. Every time someone punches, it feels like the sound of breaking bones hits your chest, not your ears. Chad Stahelski himself has designed the action scenes with his own pen and ink, so every scene is of a cinematic level.

• Soundtrack: Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, and Floating Points—these three have created a soundscape that shakes not only your ears, but also your soul. A very unique mix of jazz, electronic, and classical.

• Animation Style: MAPPA has maintained their style as usual. Visual world design, lighting, choreography—everything is eye-catching.

• Tone: The series is global in scale, but the story is told from the perspective of small characters who take to the streets—this too is done in a very Watanabe-style way.

Negative Aspects

• Pacing: The beginning is relatively slow. Although there is action in the first 4-5 episodes, it takes time to become clear where the main story is going.

• Some characters are a bit flat: I feel like there would have been more connection if the character development was deeper.

• Philosophy: The series may seem a bit too “heavy themed” for some viewers. Especially those who are just looking for action.

Final Verdict

Lazarus is an anime that is not only about eye-popping action, but also about an alternate future reality that forces you to think about it. On the one hand, it is a thriller, on the other hand, it has a social subtext.

This is a great experience for Cowboy Bebop fans, as well as for those who are looking for an action-oriented and thought-provoking story.

With a little patience, the series will eventually become ingrained in your head.

I couldn't watch it at theaters and was neither sure about so I finally got around to watching Thunderbolts at home and honestly its kinda refreshing to see a Marvel movie that feels different, is not super hero over the top and builds a connection with the characters, specially when they feel like regular people. The MCU has been pretty rough in the past few years but phase 5 is turning out very good so far with a few exceptions, prior most movies go from meh to straight up terrible and dont even get me started on Quantumania, that thing was ok to a certain point but at the same time so disappointing because of all the wasted potential. Now Thunderbolts, its actually decent and almost touching very good, I mean decent is already good to watch although with all the Avengers movies the bar was set very high, which is saying something these days. The movie follows Yelena Belova, whos basically feeling empty inside after losing her sister Natasha and she gets thrown into this weird situation with other misfit characters like John Walker, Ghost and some guy named Bob who turns out to be way more than he seems, the crazy thing is that nobody remember Bob even existed. What I really liked about this movie is that it doesnt try to be some massive universe changing event or rescue the universe from some Alien invasion, its all about experimental super soldiers go wrong but it also focuses on these broken people trying to figure out their shit and thats honestly what Marvel needed right now, something more ground to earth and still with this super power related topic.

Source What really impressed me about Thunderbolts is how it manages to feel like a complete story while still setting up future stuff without being obnoxious and it never feels rush, every scene takes its time to develop or at least what matters, the only character that gets jumping from one place to another without much context is Valentina but I could really care less about her. When this team becomes the "New Avengers" at the end feels earned and the MCU is not that small so it gives the opportunity to keep exploring other super heroes instead of just been stuck with the OG ones, that was probably the super hero exhausting problem that they kept hammering the same characters on every Avenger movie to the point they had to do End Game and throw every one of them into a movie, and then what next??. Yes there are some characters recycled like Bucky Barnes showing up as the voice of reason works well and connects Thunderbolts with the original Avenger movies, even if Sebastian Stan is basically just playing the responsible adult trying to keep everyone from killing each other and that role also fits his character at this point in the MCU, I knew he wouldn't keep the hole politician role. The movie also does a good job of balancing the team screen time with everyone getting their moments to shine, even if some characters like Ghost and Taskmaster feel a bit underused, I mean Taskmaster dies in the first 10 minutes. The whole mental health angle with Bob and the void is handled way better than I expected, instead of just being a generic "power corrupts" story, its actually about dealing with trauma and depression which gives the climax some real emotional weight. The fact that they defeat the void not through violence but through connection and understanding is very mature angle for a Marvel movie that you dont see very often and it actually makes sense for these characters who are all dealing with their own emotional baggage and way over powered by Sentry, there was NO WAY they could defeat him one on one, yes might sound like a cheat code but it was all about how the story build up from the beginning.

Source I gotta say the acting in this movie is pretty damn good, with the leader actor Florence Pugh just absolutely crushes it as Yelena, she's got this way of making you feel every trauma and every emotional beat without it feeling forced or fake. Lewis Pullman as Bob slash Sentry really surprised me, because making someone who can basically destroy the world feel like a scared, messed up guy isn't easy, but he pulls it off without making it feel cheesy, on top of this consider he develops two characters, we didnt see much about Void but still he did both. Even the side characters don't suck, Wyatt Russell makes John Walker way less punchable than he was in that Falcon show and Hannah John Kamen actually makes Ghost interesting even though she doesn't get much to do. Julie Louis Dreyfus is having a blast being the bad guy and she makes Valentina feel dangerous without going full cartoon villain, she is just this cold government over powered woman who thinks she is saving the world by being a total bitch about it, specially how she tricks everyone with her press conference at the end, I honestly didn't see that coming and its clear Thunderbolts are not the right Avengers as how they basically accept still playing the same game as Valentina where they now "own her", we know that wont be the end of Valentina fighting over power. This movie doesn't try to be ten different things at once, it knows what it wants to be and just goes for it which is something Marvel forgot how to do somewhere between Endgame and whatever the hell Quantumania was supposed to be. The whole thing moves at a good pace, you get your character stuff mixed in with your action stuff and it doesn't feel like it's dragging or rushing through anything important. It feels like actual people made this movie instead of some committee trying to set up seventeen different sequels and that makes all the difference when you're watching it.

As a movie lover, I have always loved watching movies for as long as I can remember. In fact watching movies is one activity I love doing during my leisure hours.

I used to watch movies or series for longer hours without taking a break. Then, I always watched movies during weekdays and weekends. Those days, I can watch series with longer seasons and episodes. Series like The Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy and many more.

But now I must confess that I don't think I can enjoy watching a series with longer episodes anymore because there are other things that keep me occupied.

Which is why I now love TV shows or series that I can binge-watch within some hours and I mostly do this usually during weekends as that's when I would have the time to rest after a stressful weekday.

One of my favorite bingeable series is “Queen Charlotte”. It's a prequel spin-off of the Bridgerton series and as an avid lover of the Bridgerton series, I fell in love with Queen Charlotte's story.

This Tv show tells the story of the origin of Queen Charlotte and King George III (played by Corey Mylchreest), the show revolved around their arranged marriage, how they fell in love and the struggle with King George's mental illness amidst societal pressure. The setting of the TV show was in the Georgian era (starting in 1761 when they got married).

Young Queen Charlotte and King George's characters were electric. I was in awe with how comfortable they were with each other, thereby giving us an amazing show.

India Amarteifio who played the young Queen Charlotte and Golda Rosheuvel older Queen Charlotte were both exceptional actresses. They brought love and life to this show. Their acting skills were top notch. They poured out their hearts into making this show everlasting in our hearts.

Another exceptional character in the show was Lady Agatha Danbury. Arsema Thomas and Adjoa Andoh who played the young and older Lady Danbury respectively. We all loved her in the Bridgerton series but this show made me love and understand her character more.

One of the things I loved in this show was Queen Charlotte's relationship with Lady Danbury. The common thing they had at first was the fact that they were both newcomers to the English Court. Their relationship grew over time with Lady Danbury becoming the Queen's Ally and Confidante and they both developed mutual respect for each other.

Queen Charlotte is one of the most beautiful yet heartbreaking love stories I have ever watched. The cast was amazing. The storyline was near perfection. I loved everything about this series. With one season and six episodes, I was left feeling mesmerised. I wished it never ends.

If you are yet to see this series, try doing so. I highly recommend it. You can also watch the Bridgerton series to better understand some of the cast, though it's not really mandatory.

I am rating this series 9 /10. It was that good.

Wes Anderson's Asteroid City was quite a disappointment for me. It was the first time one of his films just didn't register with me. The first time where I felt he had truly lost it and went a bit too much style over substance. The characters uninteresting, the story just all over the place. I love Wes Anderson's films still, especially the ones before The Grand Budapest Hotel where the money really started to flow in and give him more creative potential. Even so, I still love the exaggerated way in which Anderson tells stories. I love that framing and narration, the directing that takes advantage of a boxed aspect ratio and utilises depth within the frame. There aren't many directors quite like him at the same level within Hollywood, and that definitely has led to him both creating many unique things, but also putting himself into this box in which people expect the same thing from him every time. When it came to The Phoenician Scheme, I think it didn't quite land with the general audience again. People still expecting a bit more. Closer to The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Though to me this felt more like a nice mixture between his older films and the stylisation we have grow to love from the director and storyteller. I actually rather enjoyed the film despite sometimes finding some problems with it, but never anything that really made me think he had lost his way, just the usual hiccups that are found within a film since none are perfect. The Phoenician Scheme itself being an engaging story that has an elite coming to terms with the challenges of greed and his tough lack of connection within his family and friends, of which themselves thrive on greed. Market manipulation threatening their monopoly, putting their livelihoods at risk. Our protagonist on a little adventure to fix this and amend his problems with those around him, all while trying to rediscover his life as a father with a troubled daughter that is trying to pursue a life of faith as a Nun.

I quite liked the momentum the story had, it felt like it was constantly in motion, and that was important with a relatively thin cast. The main characters being those under the wing of our protagonist, Anatole. Michael Cera's character a Nord named Bjorn that is specialised in the world of insects, and supposed to teach Anatole new things as Anatole claims to love learning under the limited free time he has. His previous tutor unfortunately blown to pieces during a flight that led to one of many plane crashes and attempts of assassination over Anatole's life. Now, this is of course where much of the comedy comes in, and Anderson is great at displaying gentle moments of dark humour. A very deadpan way of telling stories that are often wrapped in tragedy and violence. Told in very beautiful ways that make it clear that the world they characters live in is certainly dangerous, but also one of great beauty and structure still, often told through the mannerisms of its higher-class characters.

The directing remains as strong as ever, his unique way of telling stories with fun compositions, traditional methods of filmmaking, and the use of camera movements. There are times in which you feel the film is getting a bit repetitive, where the film seems like it is dragging on a bit and needs to wrap things up, but that is felt more towards its end anyway. This isn't a film you'll likely remember a lot from, you won't go thinking about it years later suddenly, but that's fine. It's a simple story and one that's a lot of fun to explore with the time and characters we are given.

‎Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister is a fun and romantic comedy manga series that I really liked. The main character of the story is Uryu Kamihate, who has to marry one of the three sisters in order to become the heir to the temple. This theme is new and interesting. The romance and harem elements of the series are presented very smoothly and pleasantly, which made me interested in the story.

‎The artwork of the manga is quite beautiful. The relationships between the characters and their personalities are very well developed, which brought the story to life. I was especially attracted to the different personalities of the three sisters.

‎Some supernatural elements in the story and dreams of seeing the future made the whole plot more mysterious and exciting. In addition, the humor of the series made me laugh a lot and had a good time.

‎Overall, those who like harem-style stories mixed with romance and comedy For those who do, this series is definitely worth watching. I will be reading the next episodes and the manga with interest. ‎
