Me gustaría decir que me sorprende la desconexión que padezco con la franquicia del MCU, pero creo que el desgaste fue total al ver el cuarto film de The Avengers y por supuesto las decepciones de varias de sus producciones como series y algunas que otras películas de no sé en cuál fase se desarrollan; justamente esa falta de expectativa o motivación para ver las películas basadas en personajes de Marvel Comics, es lo que hizo que me tomara tiempo para ver la última producción del MCU que para ser sincero no se siente del todo como parte de esa extensa franquicia, creo que más que nada es una gran despedida o clausura de un grupo de personajes que abrieron la puerta para todo este movimiento cinematográfico basado en comics, el cual es relatado por el llamado "El Mercenario Bocón".

I'd like to say that I'm surprised by the disconnect I suffer from with the MCU franchise, but I think the burnout was total after seeing the fourth film of The Avengers and of course the disappointments of several of its productions as series and some other movies of I don't know in which phase they are developed; just that lack of expectation or motivation to see movies based on Marvel Comics characters, is what made me take time to see the last production of the MCU that to be honest does not feel entirely as part of that extensive franchise, I think more than anything is a great farewell or closure of a group of characters that opened the door for this whole cinematic movement based on comics, which is told by the so-called "The Merc with a Mouth".

"Deadpool & Wolverine", tercera entrega de la franquicia de Deadpool, veremos las consecuencias de los actos de "Wade Wilson" al usar el dispositivo de viajes en el tiempo de "Cable" para revivir a "Vannesa", quien después de ese acto heroico ha terminado su relación con Wade y por eso el ahora ex mercenario, trabaja como vendedor de autos junto a su gran amigo "Peter", pero no todo es decepción, tristeza, soledad y una peluca para Wade, porque como dije anteriormente, existen consecuencias para sus actos las cuales son la aparición de la "TVA" (Time Variance Authority) quienes buscaran reclutar a Deadpool, ya que su universo, "Tierra-616", se está deteriorando y por eso han decidido destruirlo por completo de una manera rápida y justamente en ese instante, Deadpool decide contraatacar, pero para lograrlo deberá contar con alguien experimentado en ser un héroe, a alguien que está muerto, pero será fácil de reclutar por sus otras versiones, me refiero al mítico "Wolverine".

"Deadpool & Wolverine", third installment of the Deadpool franchise, we will see the consequences of the acts of "Wade Wilson" when using the time travel device of "Cable" to revive "Vannesa", who after that heroic act has ended his relationship with Wade and so the now former mercenary, works as a car salesman with his great friend "Peter", but not everything is disappointment, sadness, loneliness and a wig for Wade, because as I said before, there are consequences for his actions which are the appearance of the "TVA" (Time Variance Authority) who will seek to recruit Deadpool, because their universe, "Earth-616", is deteriorating and therefore have decided to destroy it completely in a fast way and just at that moment, Deadpool decides to fight back, but to achieve this he must have someone experienced in being a hero, someone who is dead, but will be easy to recruit by their other versions, I mean the mythical "Wolverine".

Sé que al comienzo de esta reseña hice referencia a la desconexión al MCU o la poca expectativa con este film, pero creo que toda persona que ha seguido a este tipo de films, que tiene un conocimiento extenso o breve de las aventuras de Deadpool, era inevitable el esperar a que está reunión entre dos míticos personajes de Marvel Comics se llevará a cabo y creo que muchos, pero muchos estuvieron felices de por fin ver la interacción entre estos personajes interpretados por los actores que nacieron para darles vida en la gran pantalla; personalmente puedo decir que sí, me alegró la noticia del regreso de Hugh Jackman como Wolverine, pero para ser sincero esperaba algo épico y no el pobre film que se realizó. El trabajo que realizó Shawn Levy, no es bueno, las escenografías son como de una serie de los 90' así como toda secuencia de acción que son aburridas, la única que destaca es la pelea dentro de la van, pero las demás son todas olvidables, no hay nada, a eso, sumo el pobre uso del CGI lo cual arruina a muchas de las secuencias de acción.

El guion fue escrito por Levy, Reynolds y otras tres personas más, en mi opinión es un desastre, es aburrido, pero aún, es repetitivo y no lo digo porque la principal motivación de esta tercera película sea la relación entre Wade y Vanessa, lo cual encuentro perfecto porque es la base para esta franquicia, mi crítica sobre lo repetitivo es a los chistes, las frases y es que me costó para reírme en este tercer film; no hubo esa frescura y diversión que si hubo en el primer film así como también lo tuvo en varios momentos la segunda parte; nuevamente repito, se perdió una gran oportunidad de hacer una historia heroica y muy divertida.

I know that at the beginning of this review I made reference to the disconnection to the MCU or the low expectation with this film, but I think that every person who has followed this kind of films, who has an extensive or brief knowledge of the adventures of Deadpool, it was inevitable to wait for this meeting between two mythical Marvel Comics characters to take place and I think many, but many were happy to finally see the interaction between these characters played by the actors who were born to give them life on the big screen; personally I can say that yes, I was happy to hear the news of Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine, but to be honest I was expecting something epic and not the poor film that was made. The work done by Shawn Levy, is not good, the set designs are like a series of the 90' as well as all action sequence that are boring, the only one that stands out is the fight inside the van, but the others are all forgettable, there is nothing, to that, I add the poor use of CGI which ruins many of the action sequences.

The script was written by Levy, Reynolds and three other people, in my opinion it's a disaster, it's boring, but still, it's repetitive and I'm not saying that because the main motivation of this third film is the relationship between Wade and Vanessa, which I find perfect because it's the base for this franchise, my criticism about the repetitive is to the jokes, the phrases and it's that I found it hard to laugh in this third film; there was not that freshness and fun that there was in the first film as well as in several moments of the second part; again I repeat, a great opportunity to make a heroic and very funny story was lost.

Ryan Reynolds no es de mis actores favoritos porque lo pongo en el mismo grupo de actores como Diesel, The Rock, Stallone en dónde siempre interpretan al mismo personaje una y otra vez, pero como dije anteriormente, nacieron para interpretar a estos personajes y es claro que cumple con su rol de este mercenario que no importa cuantas veces rompe el cuarto muro, pero que lamentablemente es víctima del propio guion que él co escribió, aunque debo ser justo y dire que lo hecho con "Nicepool" es de lo mejor del film. El regreso de Hugh Jackman como Wolverine es el más grande fanservice de los últimos años, hace canónico lo referente a "Nadie muere en los comics" y ahora con todo esto del multiverso, entonces, ahora más que nunca, nadie muere en el MCU; pero no creo que su interpretación fuese la mejor, creo que lo hecho en "Logan" lo desgastó por completo y en esta película solamente está para usar el traje amarillo y azul.

Ryan Reynolds is not one of my favorite actors because I put him in the same group of actors like Diesel, The Rock, Stallone where they always play the same character over and over again, but as I said before, they were born to play these characters and it is clear that he fulfills his role of this mercenary that no matter how many times he breaks the fourth wall, but unfortunately he is a victim of his own script that he co-wrote, although I must be fair and say that what he did with "Nicepool" is one of the best of the film. The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is the greatest fanservice of the last years, it makes canonical what refers to "Nobody dies in the comics" and now with all this multiverse stuff, so, now more than ever, nobody dies in the MCU; but I don't think his performance was the best, I think what he did in "Logan" wore him out completely and in this movie he is only there to wear the yellow and blue suit.

Me sentí decepcionado con Deadpool & Wolverine, esperaba algo más, mejores aventuras, mejor historia, mejor interacción con los muchos cameos, las escenas de acción que es lo que menos me gustó, se perdió la oportunidad de hacer algo épico, de dar protagonismo a ambos en dichas escenas, que son personajes casi indestructibles y aunque sé que las huelga de actores y guionista fue un factor influyente en como se fue desarrollando esta producción, eso no evita que (nuevamente repito) se debió hacer algo mejor y lo digo por los personajes y hasta por los mismos actores que serán difíciles de superar cuando llegue el momento de que otros tomen el manto de Wade y Logan.

I was disappointed with Deadpool & Wolverine, I expected something more, better adventures, better story, better interaction with the many cameos, the action scenes which is what I liked the least, they missed the opportunity to do something epic, to give prominence to both of them in those scenes, Although I know that the strike of actors and screenwriter was an influential factor in how this production was developed, that does not avoid that (again I repeat) something better should have been done and I say it for the characters and even for the actors themselves that will be difficult to overcome when the time comes for others to take the mantle of Wade and Logan.

Episode 1 of Silo Season 2 takes us right back where we left off with Juliette after that jaw dropping ending of Season 1 where we find out there was more than one silo dotted all over the place. The Engineer is the name of the first episode, probably in reference to Juliette life on how she started her engineering career, we also see Juliette enter one of these enigmatic neighboring Silo, there are many, each with what seems an entire population at the end with similar struggle and while it does offer some nice revelations, it spends far too much time going in circles on things we already know or probably suspect, things that are too evident. On the more positive side show doesn’t waste a second jumping in to the action, since the ending of Season 1 the main question was Who is out there?. T starting with a fascinating look into this new silo’s past, including a rebellion that actually opened the doors to the outside world a similar situation to what was starting at Juliette original Silo, to an extend they were not lying its not safe out there and she have finally seen it, an entire revolution died on the toxic environment.

The episode begins with Juliette as a kid when she started at the recycling ribbon, side by side the "second" Silo in fact Silo number 17 pops up with a scene where a sheriff gets a message about flooding the generator in 15 minutes, big fight between the rebels and the administration of the Silo that ended in everyone going out as they demand freedom only to find out how toxic was outside killing everyone who dare to go up the stairs. The dangerous atmosphere is set up as Juliette makes her way through this decaying structure, which is basically a mirror image of her own home Silo, its like she is been witness of what happens when people without knowing wants out of the Silo, this place has fallen into disrepair over time is really something that really sells the story, with flooding in the lower levels and corpses scattered everywhere acting as silent witness. Even though this are very dark scenes that most people wont enjoy watching in 1080p, I have to mention that the production design team for building such a believable almost holocaust environment, abandoned space that speaks to its own story through the visual details alone.

The thing that really got my attention was how the environment of the episode builds tension by creating the abandoned Silo as a character itself, its how on this episode is Juliette vs the abandoned Silo, all the destruction and flooding she has on her way to first safe her life and second make this her temporary or even permanent home, she knows she cant go out there. The episode is particularly effective to show how Juliette now has to constantly fight to survive, from the moment she is outside and start feeling the harsh environment having to watch the thousands of dead people who for some reason keep coming out of the Silo, if you are at the door and watching others die or have a hard time then why not going back?. There is also other factors that describe how hard it was for her to survive like the moment she had to break her helmet to keep breathing, well that right there says you are not going back out again, although she might find the same gear inside Silo 17, the entire episode is a hole combination of obstacles that just want to kill her one after another.

I love how the show still builds its world, and that these Silos were all exact copies of each other, the same social structure, same security measures, but I was frustrated by the time spent with Juliette’s early days in mechanical and her relationship with Walker, this is old news for anyone who saw season one. These scenes don’t really bring anything new to the table with how we already knew of her character from Season 1, and that time could have been used to explore the history of this new Silo and its failed rebellion. While the flashbacks do help to bring back Juliette’s resiliency and adaptability, but they feel a little redundant, during most of the episode I was constantly asking "when to the point??".

The episodes becomes interesting when Juliette tries to cross a broken walkway, first trying to use old ropes that I knew were going to snap, having her falling into the void but lucky the Silo is heavily flooded and not just the generator chamber, it goes all the way up to very high levels.

The ending features an interesting new character we hear but don’t see, who plays the song "Moon River" on repeat behind a locked door, at first it was not certain if she was alone, there is this interesting dynamic created now between Juliette and a man behind a door she can't open, this mysterious men threatening to kill Juliette next time she tries to break in, who has a connection to the past rebellion of the Silo. The blue eye and his very looking unstable mental state, suggest some exposure to whatever is really going on outside, turns the ending into a big cliff hanger, the ones that make you think "really you lost all that time telling the same story again?".

While it doesn't advance the story as much I'd have hoped, this episode is a good foundation to look at the bigger picture and what to expect during season two, the fact that there have been successful rebellions before and that they inevitably fail because the outside world is something no one was prepared for, only makes Juliette choice to be free plausible but without any rewards since they can't survive the outside world, at least not without her head inside a helmet, I’m curious to see how she’ll use this knowledge moving forward.

The first episode of Dune: We go 10,000 years before Paul Atreides, after humanity has won the Machine Wars and establishes the foundation for the Bene Gesserit order, part of the story that is not even mention during the movies, something that for me as a new Dune fan I'm very eager to know more about but for that I might have to look for the books and not for any other sequel or TV Series. In the beginning of the episode name The Hidden Hand, we see a mix of past and present, the usual time jumps that might get viewers lost if not paying close attention specially on Valya Harkonnen life, where we find out how the sisterhood became and what their first goals were when they were left with nothing after the devastating war against thinking machines. Those early days of the Empire would see two Harkonnen sisters have an impact on the rest of the galaxy through their own actions and decisions; Valya and Tula.

The Machine Wars, also known as the Butlerian Jihad; a term I actually found when looking up more about this war, where humanity fought against AI that wanted to dominate everything, from the start, we are introduced to a universe that is trying to rebuild itself after a devastating conflict, the episode skips between different time periods, it begins with the first Mother Superior’s death, then 30 years forward to where the series is now, just by this example time gaps are a thing and probably became a problem for the story telling part of the episode. To be hones some of the CGI effects during the Machine Wars flashbacks feel a little let down, a bit flat even cliche, the production values really shine when we get to rest of the episode but at first look like a cheap copy of the Matrix, the series starts to resonate with the movies and probably make sense for fans when Valya use the voice for the first time on Dorotea, big dopamine moment for fans watching the series.

Some of the first and main characters we meet are Emperor Corrino played by Mark Strong and his daughter Princess Ynez, as well as a mysterious dude named Desmond Hart played Travis Fimmel; who does a fantastic job giving me Ragnar Lothbrok vibes from the Vikings TV Series, Desmond seemed to have gotten through the meeting with the Freemen and probably sandworm on Arrakis. What's interesting about this episode is that it shows the Harkonnen family in a different light, long before they become the monsters of the latest Dune movies that I know, when we see them as somewhat decent people trying to rebuild their family's reputation after they were accused of desertion during The Machine Wars.

When you look at the bigger picture the episode raises some interesting themes of control, power and manipulation, the usual Dune stuff, multiple families trying to grasp as much power as they can, all under the umbrella of The Emperor. One of the main aspects of the episode is how the Bene Gesserit are shown in their early stages already plotting their long term breeding program which would eventually lead to the Kwisatz Haderach, from what I could find online this is a nice touches for fans of the original story, we see them use their abilities like truth saying and the first appearance of "the Voice" through Valya Harkonnen.

I’m mixed on this first episode, but leaning positive as I get to discover more details about the story and that's exactly what I want from this series to explain more detailed how everything started and not just a side story, I like how they’re trying to expand the Dune universe by showing us this important time in its history but sometimes it feels like they’re trying to juggle too many plot threads. While it’s necessary to set the background with these time jumps, it’s difficult to connect with the characters and gets to the heart of their motives, for example Desmond is a HUGE cliff hanger on episode one. There is also the political intrigue and House Corrino and House Richese's marriage arrangement are interesting, and the episode does pick up steam between this two.

The episode starts to pick up some conflicting mood when the young heir of House Richese is found with a thinking machine; a small kind of lizard who is alive, strictly forbidden after the wars, after Princes Ynez; now his wife, asks him during the betrothal ceremony what he had there playing with. When it reaches this point, there is more at stake because it reveals deeper tensions within the empire, some factions want to go back to using thinking machines, even though the horrors of the Machine Wars were still very fresh in people’s memory. The Emperor's attempt to deal with this reveal says so much about the delicate political state he is attempting to maintain, preferring diplomacy over the very quick punishment, both his wife and daughter where expecting an iron fist attitude but The Emperor is a very firm man who has decided to follow his advisor sister Kasha, the wedding is their main goal and goes over everything at the moment, there will be time for other matters.

All the tension during the weeding leads to the princess and her brother attending a spice fueled party, giving us our first peak into how spice was used recreationally in this time, very different from its later role in space travel and political power but nothing mayor other than the princess having an affair with her sword master Keiran Atreides. We also get a crucial conversation between Desmond Hart and the Emperor during these final scenes where Hart's true motivations begin to become clear, his survival of a sandworm attack that remains mysterious and his obvious vendetta against the Bene Gesserit suggest he will be a major antagonist going forward but the question is if he is alone and how he got those powers?.

There are a lot of threads left hanging in the episode, the failed betrothal, the discovery of banned technology, the increasing conflicts between the houses and the suggestion of something much more sinister at bay among those who would like to return to using thinking machines. The interesting thing about these final moments is they are similar to the events that will happen thousands of years later for Paul Atreides and that history in the Dune universe tends to repeat itself, everything goes in circles.

Hola, querido hiver.

Pasado el ecuador de la serie Juego de Tronos continúo con mis reseñas. El invierno se acerca cada vez más y empezamos a conocer el alcance de lo que viene. Las leyendas son ciertas, el mundo está en peligro y como no se empiecen a poner de acuerdo entre reinos el final será inevitable para todos.

Antes de seguir con la reseña, hago mi pertinente...

Debo seguir desvelando lo que va sucede en la serie, así que estás avisado. Es tu elección continuar leyendo o no.

Tyrion Lannister huye de Desembarco del Rey gracias a la ayuda de Varys, el Consejero de los Rumores. Llegan a Volantis y allí durante una escaramuza en un burdel cae en las manos de Jorah, el antiguo asesor de Dannaerys Targaryan que fue expulsado por espiarla. La idea de Jorah es llevar a Tyrion ante ella como premio para que le perdone.

El camino hasta Meereen no será nada fácil. Primero pasan por una ciudad abandonada donde les atacan unos Hombres de Piedra y más tarde se topan con unos esclavistas. Aprovechan el encuentro para ser llevados hasta Meereen en condición de esclavos para la lucha en los reñideros.

Daenerys ha tenido que restituir los reñideros muy a su pesar, pero esta parece ser la única forma de que el pueblo de la ciudad de Meereen la admita como reina. Sin embargo, los anteriores amos no se conforman y se producen graves altercados que terminan con una de las escenas más emocionantes hasta ahora, cuando Daenerys monta por primera vez a lomos de Drogon.

Saltamos al sur de Poniente, al reino de Dorne. Aquí está Myrcella, la única hermana del actual rey Tommen Baratheon. Justo cuando se promete con el príncipe Trystan Martell se presenta su tío (en realidad su padre) Jamie Lannister dispuesto a llevársela.

Aprovechando la coyuntura tenemos a Ellaria Arena dispuesta a vengar la muerte de Oberyn Martell, hermano del rey de Dorne. Para ello reúne a las que eran sus hijas, las Serpientes de Arena.

Ascendemos en el mapa hasta Desembarco del Rey. Allí Cersei Lannister ejerce realmente el gobierno como madre del actual rey Tommen, que es fácilmente manejado por ella.

Cersei trata de minar la confianza de su hijo en su reciente esposa la reina Margaery. Utiliza a unos fanáticos religiosos como instrumento para atacar al hermano de Margaery, pero el plan se vuelve en su contra. Ver a esta mujer encerrada en una celda, chupando el suelo para conseguir agua derramada, ha sido otro momento álgido de lo que llevamos de serie. ¡Ya era hora de que sufriese de verdad!

Por su parte Arya Stark llega a Braavos. Consigue que la acepten en la Casa de Blanco y Negro. Al principio no entiende nada de lo que debe hacer para aprender. Solo barre y lava los cadáveres de personas que mueren en la Casa.

Poco a poco convence al hombre que lleva la cara de Jaqen y éste le confiere la misión de asesinar a un hombre. Cuando casi la cumple aparece por Daavos uno de los hombres que se había jurado matar y se desvía del cometido asignado.

Su hermana Sansa es llevada por Meñique al encuentro con los Bolton. Por el camino se cruzan con Brienne y Pod, pero Sansa no confía en ellos ya que no los conoce. Meñique convence a Sansa para que se case con Ramsay Bolton y de este modo haga justicia a su familia desde esa posición. Pretende que se convierta en la Guardiana del Norte.

El matrimonio anterior de Sansa con Tyrion Lannister se considera nulo por no haberse consumado. En este otro Ramsay se encarga de hacerlo de forma brutal y violenta, obligando a estar presente a Hediondo (Theon Greyjoy).

Mientras esto sucede, Brienne y Pod permanecen cerca a la espera de una solicitud de ayuda por parte de Sansa.

El rey Stannis Baratheon trata de obtener la lealtad de los salvajes del otro lado del Muro para que le ayuden a vencer a los Bolton que están en Invernalia. Al negarse su cabecilla ordena quemarlo. Intenta entonces convencer a Jon Nieve, al que los salvajes comienzan a respetar, pero este permanece fiel a la Guardia de la Noche.

Stannis se marcha sin hacer caso a las advertencias de que el mal tiempo no dejará que venzan en Invernalia. Ante las primeras señales de pérdidas en su ejército la sacerdotisa Melissandre le dice que necesita hacer otro sacrificio de sangre. La elegida en esta ocasión es la princesa Shireen, la propia hija de Stannis.

En el Castillo Negro Jon Nieve es elegido Lord Comandante de la Guardia de la Noche. Marcha en compañía de Tormund el salvaje y otros guardianes de la noche hacia el Norte del Muro. El objetivo es hablar con los líderes de los clanes y convencerles de que luchen junto a los hombres de los Siete Reinos cuando llegue el momento de enfrentarse a los Caminantes Blancos.

Mientras algunos clanes se muestran reacios otros acceden, pero cuando están embarcando aparece un ejército de espectros seguidos de Caminantes Blancos. Casi todos los salvajes que quedaban allí mueren y al alejarse hacia los barcos de regreso el Rey de la Noche y Jon Nieve mantienen sus miradas. Al regresar al Castillo Negro, aparecen de nuevo primero Davos para pedirle hombres para la batalla de Invernalia y después Melissandre quien confirma sin palabras la derrota acaecida por Stanis Baratheon.

Quien no aparece en toda la temporada es Bran Stark, se supone que sigue más allá del Muro pero solamente es nombrado por Theon Greyjoy cuando le confiesa a Sansa Stark que en lugar de asesinar a sus hermanos pequeños mataron a unos campesinos y les hicieron pasar por ellos.

Tras la oscuridad de la cuarta temporada de nuevo se recuperan escenarios luminosos y escenas de exteriores. Me hizo especial ilusión reconocer algunos lugares en los que he estado personalmente como el Puente Romano de Córdoba o el Real Alcázar de Sevilla. No serán los únicos, pues la producción recorrerá más puntos de la geografía española.

Las batallas de esta temporada son cortas, cosa que he agradecido porque en la anterior terminé saturada de mandobles y flechas voladoras. En esta hay más cuchillo degollador, sobre todo en Meereen, jajaja. La acción quizá sea menos trepidante pero me parece igual de impactante por la crudeza de determinados sucesos como el sacrificio de la princesa Shireen.

La sexta es la última temporada de 10 episodios, esto va cada vez más rápido y no quiero que llegue el final pero no puedo parar. Sigo enganchada y disfrutando, que es lo importante.

Hi, dear hiver.

After the halfway point of the series Game of Thrones I continue with my reviews. Winter is getting closer and closer and we are beginning to know the extent of what is to come. The legends are true, the world is in peril and unless the kingdoms start to come to terms with each other the end will be inevitable for all.

Before I go on with the review, I make my pertinent....

Tyrion Lannister flees King's Landing with the help of Varys, the Counselor of Rumors. They reach Volantis and there during a skirmish in a brothel he falls into the hands of Jorah, Dannaerys Targaryan's former advisor who was expelled for spying on her. Jorah's idea is to bring Tyrion to her as a reward for forgiveness.

The road to Meereen will be far from easy. First they pass through an abandoned city where they are attacked by Stone Men and later encounter slavers. They take advantage of the encounter to be taken to Meereen as slaves for the fight in the quarrels.

Daenerys has been forced to reinstate the dueling grounds, much to her regret, but this seems to be the only way for the people of the city of Meereen to admit her as queen. However, the former masters are not content and serious altercations ensue, ending with one of the most exciting scenes so far, when Daenerys rides Drogon for the first time.

We jump to the south of Westeros, to the kingdom of Dorne. Here is Myrcella, the only sister of the current King Tommen Baratheon. Just as she is betrothed to Prince Trystan Martell, her uncle (actually her father) Jamie Lannister shows up, ready to take her away.

Taking advantage of the situation, we have Ellaria Arena ready to avenge the death of Oberyn Martell, brother of the King of Dorne. To do so, she gathers her daughters, the Sand Snakes.

We move up the map to King's Landing. There Cersei Lannister actually exercises rule as the mother of the current King Tommen, who is easily managed by her.

Cersei tries to undermine her son's trust in his recent wife Queen Margaery. She uses religious fanatics as a tool to attack Margaery's brother, but the plan backfires. Seeing this woman locked in a cell, sucking on the floor for spilled water, was another highlight of the series so far. It's about time she really suffered!

Arya Stark arrives in Braavos. She is accepted into the House of Black and White. At first she understands nothing of what she must do to learn. She just sweeps and washes the corpses of people who die in the House.

Gradually he convinces the man who wears Jaqen's face and the man gives him a mission to assassinate a man. Just as he is about to complete his mission, one of the men he had sworn to kill appears in Daavos and deviates from his assigned task.

His sister Sansa is taken by Littlefinger to meet the Boltons. On the way they meet Brienne and Pod, but Sansa does not trust them as she does not know them. Littlefinger convinces Sansa to marry Ramsay Bolton and thus do justice to her family from that position. He intends for her to become the Warden of the North.

Sansa's previous marriage to Tyrion Lannister is considered null and void because it was not consummated. In this one, Ramsay does it brutally and violently, forcing Hediondo (Theon Greyjoy) to be present.

While this is happening, Brienne and Pod remain nearby, waiting for a request for help from Sansa.

King Stannis Baratheon tries to gain the loyalty of the wildlings on the other side of the Wall to help him defeat the Boltons at Winterfell. When their leader refuses, he orders them burned. He then tries to convince Jon Snow, whom the wildlings begin to respect, but he remains loyal to the Night's Watch.

Stannis leaves without heeding warnings that bad weather will not let them win at Winterfell. At the first signs of losses in his army, the priestess Melissandre tells him that he needs to make another blood sacrifice. The chosen one this time is Princess Shireen, Stannis' own daughter.

At Castle Black Jon Snow is elected Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He marches in the company of Tormund the Wildling and other Night's Watch to North of the Wall. The aim is to speak to the clan leaders and convince them to fight alongside the men of the Seven Kingdoms when the time comes to face the White Walkers.

While some clans are reluctant, others agree, but just as they are embarking, an army of wraiths appears, followed by White Walkers. Almost all of the remaining wildlings are killed and as they walk away to the returning ships the Night's King and Jon Snow hold their gazes. As they return to Castle Black, first Davos appears again to ask for men for the battle of Winterfell and then Melissandre who wordlessly confirms the defeat of Stanis Baratheon.

Bran Stark does not appear in the whole season, he is supposed to be still beyond the Wall but he is only mentioned by Theon Greyjoy when he confesses to Sansa Stark that instead of murdering his younger brothers they killed some peasants and made them pass for them.

After the darkness of the fourth season, light scenes and outdoor scenes are brought back. I was particularly excited to recognise some places I have been to personally, such as the Roman Bridge in Cordoba and the Real Alcazar in Seville. They will not be the only ones, as the production will travel to more places in Spain.

This season's battles are short, which I was grateful for, because in the previous season I ended up being saturated with swords and flying arrows. In this one there are more slashing knives, especially in Meereen, hahaha. The action is perhaps less fast-paced but I find it just as shocking because of the crudeness of certain events such as the sacrifice of Princess Shireen.

The sixth is the last season of 10 episodes, this is going faster and faster and I don't want the end to come but I can't stop. I'm still hooked and enjoying it, which is the important thing.

A finales de los 80' y principio de los 90', la visión de Tim Burton de Batman y su galería de villanos cambio por completo mi perspectiva hacia todo esos personajes; en mi opinión (ahora de adulto) pienso que es una visión que se asemeja a un Freak Show, personajes que no temen mostrar su nivel de locura en una lucha por controlar (villanos) y defender (héroe) a Ciudad Gótica; tiempo después, lo referente a la realidad impuesta por Nolan posiblemente disminuyó lo referente a los problemas psiquiátricos de los personajes, aunque en "El Caballero de la Noche" sea en dónde se explore más y por eso creo que es la mejor de todas; posiblemente en esta nueva oportunidad, Matt Reeves y compañía, tenga la oportunidad de unificar ambas maneras de relatar una historia ya contada muchas veces, pero en donde se explore la diferente manera de vivir en locura y por eso El Pingüino ofreció el relato sobre un personaje que no es un héroe o un antihéroe, sino un gran y vil villano.

In the late 80's and early 90's, Tim Burton's vision of Batman and his gallery of villains completely changed my perspective towards all those characters; in my opinion (now as an adult) I think it is a vision that resembles a Freak Show, characters who are not afraid to show their level of madness in a fight to control (villains) and defend (hero) Gotham City; After some time, the reality imposed by Nolan possibly diminished the psychiatric problems of the characters, although in "The Dark Knight" is where it is explored more and that's why I think it's the best of all; possibly in this new opportunity, Matt Reeves and company, have the opportunity to unify both ways of telling a story already told many times, but where the different way of living in madness is explored and that is why The Penguin offered the story about a character who is not a hero or an antihero, but a great and vile villain.

El pasado domingo se estrenó "A Great or Little Thing", octavo y último episodio (por ahora) de la miniserie "The Penguin"; un episodio que demostró lo grandioso del relato en esta producción en donde a pesar de tener noción de que muchas cosas deberían suceder, de igual manera creó un gran impacto en los millones de personas que vieron el episodio. La narrativa sobre la vida de "Oz Cobb" en un principio captó la atención de muchos que pensaron que está era la historia sobre un hombre que sin importar su discapacidad superó obstáculos hasta alcanzar lo más alto de una organización mafiosa; justamente muchos fans de la miniserie (posiblemente) se vieron identificados con "Oz" que a pesar de crecer sin ningún beneficio, enfrentó a todos los poderosos jefes y sus familiares que siempre lo subestimaron y lo trataron como lo peor; todo ese relato hizo pensar que está era una historia de superación, de una lucha de clases, la típica en donde el menos beneficiado supera duras pruebas y alcanza una gran meta y en parte es verdad, pero lo impresionante es el cómo logra superar todas sus metas.

Justamente ese pensamiento de que esperaban una historia del antihéroe llevó a creer en el personaje de "Victor"; de manera unánime, todos apoyamos a "Vic", todos conectamos con él, esperamos que pudiera encontrar un motivo, un lugar donde encajar y comenzar de nuevo, pero la realidad es que vimos la historia de un joven hombre perdido, derrotado, sin nada que ofrecer y que al final, poco a poco fue un vendiendo su alma al diablo; algo parecido sucedió con "Sofía Falcone" quien muchos la vieron como la villana de la historia, pero la realidad es que fue la gran víctima, alguien que tuvo que vivir en el infierno para transformarse en algo oscuro para así cortar con todo lazo familiar y comenzar de nuevo; si en esta historia existe una imagen cercana al antihéroe, en mi opinión esa fue "Sofia Gigante".

Last Sunday was the premiere of "A Great or Little Thing", the eighth and last episode (for now) of the miniseries "The Penguin "; an episode that demonstrated the greatness of the story in this production where despite the notion that many things should happen, it still created a great impact on the millions of people who watched the episode. The narrative about the life of "Oz Cobb" initially caught the attention of many who thought that this was the story about a man who regardless of his disability overcame obstacles to reach the top of a mafia organization; justly many fans of the miniseries (possibly) identified with "Oz" who despite growing up without any benefits, faced all the powerful bosses and their families who always underestimated him and treated him as the worst; all that story made people think that this was a story of overcoming, of a class struggle, the typical one where the least benefited overcomes hard trials and reaches a great goal and it is partly true, but the impressive thing is how he manages to overcome all his goals.

Precisely that thought that they expected a story of the anti-hero led to believe in the character of "Victor"; unanimously, we all supported "Vic", we all connected with him, we hoped he could find a reason, a place to fit in and start over, but the reality is that we saw the story of a young man lost, defeated, with nothing to offer and that in the end, little by little he was a selling his soul to the devil; Something similar happened with "Sofia Falcone" who many saw her as the villain of the story, but the reality is that she was the great victim, someone who had to live in hell to transform herself into something dark in order to cut all family ties and start over; if in this story there is an image close to the anti-hero, in my opinion that was "Sofia Gigante".

El último episodio de esta miniserie fue una terrorífica sorpresa, primero por crear impacto en la escena que todos sabíamos qué sucedería, pero no de la manera que en que sucedió; lo otro fue el homenaje a un clásico cinematográfico como fue "El Padrino", pero no hay duda que demostrar el grado de locura que experimenta "Oz" fue muy impresionante y es por eso que no dejaba de pensar en el anterior episodio "Top Hat", el cual se engrandece con toda revelación que observamos en el episodio final, ambas partes cierran el círculo y nos enseñan la calidad de villano que protagoniza esta historia y lo que le difiere de muchas otras producciones basadas en comics; El Pingüino es malévolo, manipulador, oportunista, un asesino, mentiroso, egoísta, un vil ser y esta es la primera vez que defino a ese personaje de esa manera y todo eso es gracias al cambio radical que existe en él desde su aparición en "The Batman" hasta ahora, justamente eso demuestra un desarrollo sorprendente del personaje y que ha creado unificación en el público al momento de odiarlo.

The last episode of this miniseries was a terrifying surprise, first for creating impact in the scene that we all knew would happen, but not in the way it happened; The other was the homage to a classic movie like "The Godfather", but there is no doubt that showing the degree of madness that "Oz" experiences was very impressive and that is why I kept thinking about the previous episode "Top Hat", which is magnified with every revelation that we see in the final episode, both parts close the circle and show us the quality of the villain who stars in this story and what makes him different from many other productions based on comics; The Penguin is malevolent, manipulative, opportunistic, a murderer, a liar, selfish, a vile being and this is the first time I define that character in that way and all that is thanks to the radical change that exists in him since his appearance in "The Batman" until now, just that shows an amazing development of the character and that has created unification in the public at the time of hating him.

Está producción creada por Lauren LeFranc, junto a la visión de Reeves, es de lo mejor que he visto en este año; las altas expectativas que tenía fueron superadas porque está es una magnífica producción, una historia que es parte de la llamada "La Gran Saga Criminal", pero que tiene una gran independencia y es lo justamente me ha agradado; aunque si diré algo y es que si comparamos la historia de The Penguin con la historia conocida de Batman, podemos encontrar similitudes, por ejemplo, ambos son de Gótica, ciudad que les quitó a cercanos familiares, ambos están motivados por cumplir promesas o mantener el legado de sus padres, ambos usan los caminos subterráneos de su ciudad, ambos toman bajo su manto a jóvenes perdidos y ambos deben enfrentar a enemigos con problemas mentales aunque tanto El Pingüino como Batman, también padecen de un alto grado de locura, la gran diferencia está en que ambos transitan caminos diferentes, uno es un despiadado criminal y el otro es el salvador que todos necesitan. No sé qué sucederá en el futuro, pero espero que la historia de Oz no termine en la secuela de The Batman y es que espero verlo sufrir y pagar por todo lo que hizo y que seguramente hará.

This production created by Lauren LeFranc, together with the vision of Reeves, is one of the best I've seen this year; the high expectations I had were exceeded because this is a magnificent production, a story that is part of the so-called "The Great Criminal Saga", but that has a great independence and that's just what I liked; although I will say something and that is that if we compare the story of The Penguin with the known history of Batman, we can find similarities, for example, both are from Gotham, a city that took away close relatives, both are motivated to keep promises or maintain the legacy of their parents, both use the subway roads of their city, both take under their mantle lost young people and both must face enemies with mental problems, although both The Penguin and Batman also suffer from a high degree of insanity, the big difference is that both walk different paths, one is a ruthless criminal and the other is the savior that everyone needs. I don't know what will happen in the future, but I hope Oz's story doesn't end in the sequel to The Batman and I hope to see him suffer and pay for everything he did and will surely do.

In early October Netflix release a sequel to the great movie The Platform, I was really expecting this movie to happen after the success of the original, to be honest I was not expecting to be better since the bar was set very high but it was not that bad so my rating is mostly based compared to the first movie so you don't get confuse. After all is a good movie which attempts to expand on the original and doesn’t quite reach the same heights. The movie brings us back to that vertical prison where food comes through the platform that goes from top to bottom, but now with a new system in place trying to make sense of the mess we witnessed in the first film.

I didn't go into this movie expecting another masterpiece like the original, but I did get a decent follow up that's entertaining enough but doesn't pack the raw punch of the original. Though they feel at times like a refresh of what we’ve seen before just with a similar tone but at the same time trying to stay as close as the first classic, the movie still delivers some intense moments and thought provoking scenarios but not the type of movie who tries to push their agenda.

The basic setup remains the same with 333 levels, two prisoners per floor, so 666 prisoners, on both movies they do try hard to make it look that its a living hell. Food still comes down the platform once a day, from the top to the bottom. This time is different because, they say, there’s an actual system in place where inmates can only eat what they have specifically requested when they got in, compared to the first movie its interesting since now inmates has a choice?.

And the story develops around Perempuan played by Milena Smit, who is locked up with a very interesting cell mate, Zamiatin played by Hovik Keuchkerian. They have started on level 46, which isn’t the worst place to be because there are 333 floors, but things soon get complicated when they find out that the prison now works under strict new rules enforced by a group of zealot like followers of a blind prophet. Perempuan chose croquettes, Zamiatin pizza, so this detail becomes much more important than you might think as the story goes on.

When we find out about "the higher ones" that supposedly met some kind of messiah figure and now violently enforce the food distribution rules, the plot takes some wild turns. The movie isn't scared to show the brutal repercussions of breaking these rules something that was heavily shown on the first movie, reason probably sometimes it feels this story just takes from the first movie instead of adding context or substantial changes, although there is less stomach churning violence than the first film, it's still pretty intense. There are also religious fanaticism elements all over through the story and how a peace loving ideology can be twisted into a violent crusade, honestly this felt a bit heavy handed at times but further added to the story.

Perempuan is brought to life by Milena Smit who gives her a vulnerability and strength as she works her way through the prison’s strange social order, especially at times when the plot starts to become a bit tortuous, her transformation into a deeply entangled being in the prison power play feels believable. Hovik Keuchkerian as her cellmate plays Zamiatin, he does brings some welcome humanity to the role of a former mathematician with a violent past. As on the first movie its about team work, no different on the sequel some of the more outlandish moments of the movie are ground by the chemistry of these two actors. Natalia Tena who appears later in the movie does good work with what she gets but many of the characters are underdeveloped compared to our two leads, and Oscar Jaenada as the blind prophet figure is appropriately creepy and authoritative, in my opinion a bit too on the nose with religious symbolism. Having so many characters on a close environment movie and not giving them enough context in fact becomes one of the biggest problem of the movie since it feels like the story is force against the main duo.

According to Netflix, the movie has been doing well on the streaming charts, it's hit number one on the non English language chart with 19.4 million views. Some have loved the expanded world building, others hate it because they think it's an unnecessary sequel that doesn't do enough to improve on the original concept. If you have been reading my posts for the almost two years then you might know I'm a bit forgiving with my opinion and never go to the extreme of giving very very low ratings below 5, or even talk about them since they not worth my time of posting about. I can see how this movie can be a 50/50 split between the audience and how critics would just murder it from the go. Another point to recognize is that this is a well made movie from a technical standpoint but not sure it warranted being a rehash of the first film's themes.

While watching this I found myself somewhere in the middle, it does have the production values and the movie is a very good looking grim, concrete affair with its grim atmosphere and claustrophobic settings. They build the tension well in quite a few scenes and they actually get quite thrilling with a few of the action sequences, but the second half of the story becomes too confused in its own mythology and symbolism to make you care what’s happening, instead this could have been a better movie if it was a pure action sequel instead of going all metaphors and over thinking things.

I just watched this horror movie that got my attention from the trailer content, there are certain aspects like the wooden guy and how at the same time is a mystery movie type, Oddity (2024), it really looks pretty decent, its not bad per say but I can understand how some people would not like it, how the movie have time jumps that might be inconclusive. It’s not a jump scare fest, but it has some good scares that will have you gripping your armrest. I really like that this whole supernatural vibe the movie has, it really plays with your head in a good way. I’d give it a good 7 out of 10.

The story starts with this woman Dani is fixing up this old house with her husband Ted and then there is this creepy dude who comes to her door one night, telling her there’s someone in her house. You'll find out that the guy is one of Ted's psychiatric patients named Olin. Next thing you know Dani's dead and everyone thinks this patient did it, from the get go sounds like someone setup poo dude. Fast forward a year and we meet Dani's twin sister Darcy, who has this psychic ability, not sure if to call it that but she is blind too after suffering from brain cancer so who knows if probably because of this condition her brain develop or change in a special way, one thing is for sure she wants to know what happened to her sister.

The movie gets trippy when we cut back and forth in time seeing bits and pieces of what happened, the inconclusive time jumps where you really have to pay attention to get the thread and don't get lost. At first it can be a bit confusing, but stick with it, it all comes together in the end. I love this type of endings but its a bit tiresome too, we have Darcy using her psychic powers to touch objects and see into the past, but things really go from 0 to a 100 real quick when she brings this creepy wooden mannequin to Ted’s house, which makes the story that much more weird.

This movie has a pretty good cast. Carolyn Bracken plays Dani and Darcy and nails it, this is another addon for any movies fan who can appreciate when an actor play two characters within the same movie and still nails both roles. She’s this normal, everyday person, she’s just trying to fix up her house, as Dani. She also plays Darcy, but she's got this weird, cold vibe about her that makes you kind of wonder what's going on in her head, every time she is on screen the mood of the scene is dark. Bracken does a fine job of making these two characters feel like completely two different people, there is one scene in particular where Darcy is using psychic powers trying to exploit the wooden man, but Bracken plays it so freaking chilling, her face shows the tension, and it really pulls the story in a supernatural sense.

Gwilym Lee plays Ted, Dani's husband, who latter on turn into the real villain of the movie, grieving but trying to move on or at least that's what he want everyone to think. That's not your ordinary leading man, but it actually helps the movie. That makes him feel more of a regular guy in this crazy situation, Ted's new girlfriend Yana is played by Caroline Menton, and she's kind of our eyes and ears in the story, but what makes her special is how she reacts to all the weird shit that’s happening the way we probably would, which makes her so relatable.

Although the movie does not get high ratings online I still think it is a great watch, a very unpopular horror movie that gets praises specially for the atmosphere that it builds up during every single scene where Darcy shows up. Jump scares on this movie exist but I think its because it was necessary since this is mostly a murder story rather than a full blown super natural evil possession thing, reminds me of Halle Berry's Gothika (2003), there was no devil in the hospital it was just a bunch of people fkn high and others abusing them, similar vibes here how someone pulls the threads to play God just because he didn't want to face reality, getting divorce after having an affair with Yana.

Personally Oddity was a pretty solid horror movie, I really liked how it built up the tension, you know using creepy sound effects and cool camera angles to keep you on edge, with a very moody and dark scenario everywhere they go. It's not only the whole psychic angle with Darcy that was pretty interesting, because to be honest I think the psychic aspect is old knew now days in the modern ear and only fits movies like The Conjuring franchise that develops during the 70s mostly, that's not something you see in every horror movie. There were a couple times where I got a bit lost with the timeline jumping around, but by the end it all came together.

Dani's house is another key aspect of the movie being the main stage where everything that matters happen, it’s a really creepy old house that Ted and Dani were renovating that most of the movie takes place in. It’s all these weird angles and dark corners with you thinking something can jump out at any moment, you find yourself constantly scanning the background, half expecting something to appear in the shadows.

To claim victory, Darcy doesn't simply want to ruin Ted, she wants to punish him and everyone who was part of this plan, well poor Olin turn into collateral damage. Not to fully tell the entire story, at then end everything becomes very clear and Darcy did came victory by getting rid of everyone after her twin sister murder, a story that does bring in closure, reason why I think its a solid one time watch.

The Penguin second season finale is one of the most impactful finales in recent years to be honest, very little series gives this kind of impression like Mandalorian or Game of Thrones, as it wraps up story lines and sets up exciting possibilities for The Batman Part 2 and handles Oz character development and final transformation into the monster we knew he had become masterfully, per Matt Reeves himself, this version of Penguin is far from the character we met in the first movies or TV Series.

We've seen Oz Cobb rise up the criminal ladder in Gotham, manipulating and destroying anyone who dared stand in his way, but this finale sees this go to a whole new level, particularly in that gut wrenching scene with Victor and while Penguin won't be a huge presence in The Batman Part 2 from what I have found online, Colin Farrell has already signed on for Part 3 and we know that Penguin will appear in about five to six scenes in The Batman Part 2, which is just how key this character has become.

From the moody lighting in the penthouse scenes to how they shot that final dance sequence with Eve Karlo as Oz mother dressed as his mother, everything in this episode feels cinematic and nails the noir atmosphere Matt Reeves created in The Batman, one of the biggest scenes is at the courthouse when Oz visits Sebastian Hady and sets up what could be a big plot point in The Batman Part 2.

Eagle eyed viewers noticed owl shaped curtains in the background during the courthouse scene, this could mean Bella Real; black women with her arm hurt that Oz look at while he was at the mayor, she is secretly working for the Court of Owls, setting up a larger conspiracy that could be at the center of The Batman Part 2 plot but this is just me trying to nerd out on the topic and assuming things based on what I have read online so DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS!!.

There this heart breaking scene of Oz killing Victor, a character Oz had become something of a surrogate son to throughout the season, is the crowning moment of the episode, taking everything the show has been building to and blowing your mind the moment you see this happening without return point and all you can ask is BUT WHY?!, Oz sees Victor concern for him as weakness and in his twisted mentality, weakness must be destroyed, it's a brutal moment that makes Oz into the monster he is from the comics. I remember the first Batman movies painting the Penguin as this brutal men who lives under the city but this series has made him a more modern and powerful men but still savage as always.

Towards the ending there is this mighty powerful scenes where Oz dances in his penthouse alone with Eve Karlo playing the role of his mother, telling him everything he wants to hear, while his real mother Frances lies in bed, crying, looking out over Gotham, trapped in what has become her prison, her final words to him, telling him "the devil" are perfectly what Oz has become and that tear rolling down her face says all about the monster she helped create, at some point during the episode I thought there was the possibility Oz might kill her turning into this twisted though of "If I can't have you nobody will" because that's exactly what happen when he killed his brothers and didn't care, he still had options so it was killing them and have his mother all for himself so if she hate him so much then might be better to kill her and get rid of that weakness, that sentiment. This is what I like the most out of this series, how it makes you try to understand how Penguin thinks, similar feelings came up during the first episodes with Sofia too.

The fact that this ending sets up future developments, particularly in Oz political ambitions, has been set up for him to possibly run for mayor?, something we've seen in the comics and Batman Returns and Sofia mention of him being "a man of the people" could come true, considering how he helped Crown Point with their power issues.

Sofia half sister sends her a note from Arkham, so the Selina Kyle connection adds another layer of complication to the story and we know Zoe Kravitz will be back as Selina, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out between the Falcone sisters and how that will affect Batman's relationship with Catwoman.

It's also likely to have serious consequences for Eve, she sold Oz out to Sofia, which lead to his mother being captured and we've seen Oz is not someone who will let someone betray him and given what we know about Oz character there's no way he'll let Eve Karlo get away with this, not when he already shown he is capable of killing those closest to him, like Victor and he may not have too many days left until he either remembers or realize it was because of her that his mother is laying in a bed like she is, it will also depends on how much his sick twisted mind is in love wit his mother because Eve Karlo does makes him think she is his mother, its similar to when Black Window sing to Hulk and gets him into this mental trance stage where Penguin just lets go, that does make him look weak though.

Lauren Frank nail the ending as over all its the most The Batman like scene with the dark mood, orange and red accents around the hotel and all of the sudden bat signal, I feel like it really push aside Oz or at least gives you that impression that the sheriff is in town!. After all the cool things about this new generation of TV series is how they expand the world around this stories, how they go back and forward from Movies to TV Series and at the end makes you think, where the hell was Batman when all this war was going on??

And the finale does a great job at introducing Oz in that larger Batman world; from The Batman movie, without losing its own sense of who Oz is as a character from this specific TV Series, someone who has everything he wanted but had his soul taken away in the process, which Colin Farrell's performance remains remarkable in the moments when we see both Ozv ulnerability and monotonousness come out at once.

This finale provides us with plenty to think about in regards to how Oz’s expanded criminal empire and political aspirations will fit into the bigger story and the promise of seeing Colin Farrell Penguin square off with Robert Pattinson Batman again, this time as a fully formed crime boss is so cool and goes full circle, this finale has absolutely exceeded expectations and left me wanting to see what comes next, it’s a solid 9/10 and one of the best season finales I’ve seen in last decade and I'm not exaggerating, it got 9.6/10 on IMDB.
