The voice actor who dubbed the Latin American Spanish version of the protagonist's brother in the animated film Big Hero 6 recently passed away. The story follows young Hiro Hamada, a robotics prodigy living in the technological city of San Fransokyo. He participates in illegal robot fights alongside one he created, his older brother Tadashi Hamada. To motivate him, since he believes going to university is a waste of time, Tadashi takes him to his school, where Hiro meets his friends and Baymax, an inflatable robot designed to be a "personal medical assistant." However, after a presentation to gain admission to university, an unfortunate accident occurs, causing his brother to leave while trying to save their professor.
Following this, Hiro falls into a depression, finding solace and a new purpose thanks to Baymax, who leads him to discover that someone stole his microbots, the technology he demonstrated in the presentation. Personal opinion
One of the aspects I liked most about this film is that, yes, it has that textbook superhero formula, but with an emotional execution that very few films in the genre achieve. Furthermore, the characters here don't possess special powers; it's their intelligence that takes science and technology to another level, making it incredibly compelling. This technology isn't the "monster" of the story, but rather the ultimate expression of human love. Tadashi didn't create Baymax to become rich, but to help others. Another element I appreciated is how the film handles the grieving process, where revenge and sacrifice take center stage. This is achieved by using robotics as a therapeutic metaphor. In what sense? Well, the script poses a very mature question: How do you fill the void of loss? Hiro tries to fill it with revenge (destructive justice), while Baymax's original design seeks to fill it with care (healing). This internal conflict of Hiro's is what gives the plot its weight. It's not just a child wanting to catch a villain; it's a child processing trauma through a technological object he inherited from the person he lost, and I think this is the important point of how humans process, understand, and learn to live with loss, even to the point of sacrifice, which isn't necessarily dying for another, but rather, the best way to avenge is by setting aside revenge and hatred.
As always, Disney presents the structure of the hero's journey, the evolution and overcoming of the main character alongside others who help him, but here they build their own world, which is visually beautiful and appealing in many ways. The relationship between these brothers, even with the older brother's limited screen time, continues to have a great impact throughout the plot. It's impressive how this character still resonated throughout the story, and you could feel that connection with his brother and what the older brother felt with his loss. The negative point I see in this film is, without a doubt, the villain. It's not that he's unconventional, since his motivation is a dark mirror of Hiro's (both act out of loss), but his revelation feels a bit rushed and loses the depth given to the protagonist. In short, he became predictable.
Positive points…
-The visual aspect (Worldbuilding): The city of San Fransokyo is a masterpiece of production design.
-Charismatic character designs; Baymax's, in particular, makes me feel tender, and I wanted a doll or plushie of him.
-The portrayal of grief and extremely meaningful messages.

-A good pace, mixed with quite intelligent humor, and it works for both children and adults.

Hace poco murió el actor de doblaje que le daba voz en español latino al hermano del protagonista de la película animada Big hero 6, una triste noticia realmente, sin embargo, me hizo acordar de este filme que, no puedo creer que no he hablado del mismo, es uno de mis favoritos y que han pasado mas de 11 años de su estreno, whoaaa, ha sido mucho el tiempo, pero bueno, nunca es tarde para rememorar y recomendar esta historia.
Big Hero 6….
Fue estrenado para el año 2014, bajo la dirección de Don Hall y Chris Williams, es una producción de Walt Disney Animation Studios y es de genero aventura, acción, superhéroes y ciencia ficción. Tengo entendido que la historia está basada en un cómic de Marvel del mismo nombre (Big Hero 6), creado por Steven T. Seagle y Duncan Rouleau en los años 90, sin embargo, aunque los personajes tengan los mismos nombres, en el comic el tono es mucho más oscuro y agresivo. Por ejemplo, Baymax no es un robot inflable adorable; es un guardaespaldas robótico que puede transformarse en un dragón imponente y tiene programadas las memorias del padre de Hiro; además de otros cambios, como la ambientación, el enfoque y mucho más.
¿De qué va la trama?…

Opinión personal
Uno de los aspectos que más me gusto de este filme, es que si, tiene esa fórmula de superhéroes de manual, pero con una ejecución emocional que muy pocas películas del género logran alcanzar, aunado que aquí no son personas con poderes especiales más que su inteligencia que llevan a la ciencia y tecnología a otro nivel, haciéndola sumamente atractiva, agregando que, esta tecnología no es el “monstruo” de la historia, sino la máxima expresión del amor humano, Tadashi no construyó a Baymax para ser rico, sino para ayudar. Otra de los elementos que me gustó de la película es como maneja el proceso de duelo, donde la venganza y el sacrificio toman protagonismo, esto lo logran usando la robótica como metáfora terapéutica ¿en qué sentido? Pues el guion plantea una pregunta muy madura: ¿Cómo se llena el vacío de una pérdida? Hiro intenta llenarlo con venganza (justicia destructiva), mientras que el diseño original de Baymax busca llenarlo con cuidados (sanación); ese conflicto interno de Hiro es lo que le da peso a la trama. No es solo un niño queriendo atrapar a un villano; es un niño procesando un trauma a través de un objeto tecnológico que heredó de quien perdió y creo que este es el punto importante de como el humano procesa, entiende y aprende a vivir con la perdida, llegando al sacrificio, que, no necesariamente es morir por otro, sino que, la mejor forma de vengarse es dejando la venganza y el odio a un lado.
Como siempre, Disney presenta la estructura del viaje del héroe, de la evolución y superación del personaje principal en conjunto a otros que lo ayudan, pero, aquí construyen su propio mundo, donde visualmente es hermoso y atractivo en muchos sentidos y también como la relación de estos hermanos, aun con la poca aparición en pantalla del mayor, sigue teniendo un gran impacto a lo largo de la trama, es impresionante como aun este personaje resonaba en toda la historia y se sentía esa conexión con su hermano y lo que este también sentía con su perdida. El punto negativo que le veo a esta película es, sin duda alguna, el villano, no es que no sea convencional, ya que su motivación es un espejo oscuro de la de Hiro (ambos actúan por pérdida), pero su revelación se siente un poco apresurada y pierde esa profundidad que se le está dando al protagonista, en pocas palabras, se volvió predecible.
Puntos positivos…
-El apartado visual (Worldbuilding): La ciudad de San Fransokyo es una obra maestra del diseño de producción
-Diseños carismáticos de sus personajes, el de Baymax sobre todo me causa ternura y he querido un muñeco o peluche del mismo.
- La representación del duelo y mensajes sumamente significativos.
- La ciencia como "superpoder"
-Un buen ritmo, mezclado con un humor bastante inteligente y funciona tanto para niños como para adultos.
Puntos negativos…
-Villano genérico.
-Falta de desarrollo en sus personajes secundarios, pero es entendible por el tiempo de duración del filme, por lo que quisiera una segunda entrega.
