There are a lot of things I can do. I can sing, dance, be incredibly heartless, laugh at pretty much everything, with enough time, make pretty much everyone laugh and I can make awfully good noodles. There are some things that I can't do to, yet what stands right on top of that list is me noting a good old movie that I thoroughly enjoyed and not watch it.
I already had plans for today, I'd decided to watch and write on the award winning animation Flow, yet when I transferred the movie I downloaded from my phone to my laptop, I noticed Disney Brave, a movie probably put in by my sister, and just like that my plans for the night had changed.

To escape such a stifling fate, Merida goes to a witch to find a spell that'll change her mother and help her escape the proposals.

It's quite clear. When Disney and Pixar team up on something, it's hardly ever a miss.
I remember watching this show in 2015, I remember simply how starstruck I was by the movie.
From the Scottish songs to the accents and the full movie outlook.
Disney's Princess's is one gimmick that Disney has going and it's a list that just keeps on adding from Cinderella to Moana and in every princess we get to see new characters.
I'd have to say it, that Merida is possibly my best Princess, although my introduction to the Disney Princess lifestyle wasn't my choice, being an only boy with 3 other sisters meant a very one sided voting process during movie nights.
Regardless of all the Disney princesses, I feel Merida's story is the most relatable. A 16 year old who is scared of her life changing, who's mother doesn't listen and in turn who doesn't know how to listen to her mother.
This stage of teenage years is one almost everybody has passed through in some way or the other, simply because of that, this movie was able to appeal to the masses and in particular to me.
The lore was one touch that I loved too. The story about the four brothers and the fact that Merida made the same mistake, got the same spell from the same witch but was able to learn from the past.
This was a wholesome movie that leaves such an emotional impact that it's a must watch for kids and anyone else.
I rate it a storming 9 out of 10✨❤️
Anyone who’s been following up with more of my recent film reviews will see that I’ve been on a nostalgic streak where I rewatch films, animated and otherwise, that affected me deeply. I came back home to attend a family function last week or thereabout, and I walked in on my little sisters seeing this movie. I barely got my travelling bags in when I decided to sit and watch the film there and then. I should think that this is the best decision that I’ve made in the last few weeks.
Brave (2012)
Young Princess Merida of the Celt clan in Medieval Scotland is celebrating her birthday and is given a bow and arrow by her father, King Fergus, much to the disapproval of her mother, Queen Elinor. Later on, a bear attacks the family, and this costs Fergus one of his legs. Ten years later, and Merida discovers she’s to be betrothed to the one of the sons of her father’s allies, of which failure to do so could spell doom for her entire kingdom.
Merida refuses this despite her mother’s injunctions and decides to compete with the men for her own hand. She bests her suitors, and after a heated argument with her mother, she runs into the forest. There, she encounters a witch and asks for a spell that will change her mother’s mind. She’s given an enchanted cake to give to her mother to eat. What Merida does not realize is how this one seeming “error” on her part will change the trajectory of her destiny.
My Thoughts and Rating
I think Merida, more than any other, is my best Disney princess. You’ve got to hand it to her. She was such a likeable character, which is hard to see for many other princesses. For once, the storyline isn’t about the damsel in distress who gets the dashing prince, but a lady who attempts to seize and take control of her fate. She was endearing to me from the get-go, and there was nay a moment when I felt her character annoying, which tends to happen a lot with the others.
I’ve never been to Scotland, and if I’m honest, I’ve never had the slightest inclination to see what happens there, even though I’ve always found their accent endearing. Brave is set in fictional medieval Scotland, so even though it’s not depictive of modern-day Scotland, it did make me wonder a great deal. What it’s like to be amid such vibrantly beautiful colours and sights. You do not see me longing to be part of a culture as bad as I was seeing in this movie. It was truly a masterly stroke from the creators, and I commend them dearly for it.
On the subject of theme, what can I say? This movie is as priceless as it is invaluable. I have a soft spot for films centered on family. I think it’s cause I know how it feels to be caught in the web of personal gains against responsibility and all that. Seeing Merida get rid of her selfishness to take hold of responsibilities was quite a delight. A mother who is oppressive but loving because she wants to mold you to becoming a better version of herself is something I know a lot of us women find relatable, and there’s this persistent urge to rebel against it because you believe you’re becoming your own woman and should be allowed to make decisions of yourself. Eventually, you see, or maybe not, why your mom acted that way.
I laughed in this film. There were a lot of fun moments, and I think my favourite part was a scene at the ending, but I can’t talk about it because I do not want to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet. But boy, did I giggle. Pixar films have never been short of amazing. From Up to Finding Nemo, they’ve never failed to deliver, and Brave, in my opinion, trumps them all. Wonderful CGI, exquisite setting, amazing characters, lots of heart… What more can you ask for? Giving this film a whopping 4.6/5 stars because it’s just that amazing and because I can. Have a beautiful week ahead, everyone!

Ya a este punto para quienes han leído algún otro post mío habrán notado que me encantan las películas de animación, que si bien ahora no he visto demasiadas por falta de tiempo, aún recuerdo las películas que disfruté muchísimo antes, y una de esas es Valiente.
Por tanto hoy les comentaré mi opinión con algunos spoilers sobre la princesa más indomable de Disney y lecciones sobre la comunicación y el auto control.
At this point, those who have read some of my other posts will have noticed that I love animated films, that although I haven't seen too many lately due to lack of time, I still remember the films that I enjoyed a lot before, and one of those is Brave.
Therefore today I will tell you my opinion with some spoilers about Disney's most indomitable princess
Sinopsis | Synopsis
Película de Disney y Pixar estrenada en 2012, narra la historia de Mérida, una princesa adolescente escocesa que creció en la realeza pero también rodeada de aventuras y espíritu valiente, aprendido en gran parte de la influencia de su padre. Él, el gran rey Fergus, la había salvado de pequeña cuando por casualidad, en el bosque, la niña se topa con Mor'du el gran oso temido por el pueblo. Su padre mantiene una lucha feroz donde incluso pierde una pierna.
Así creció Mérida, con ese deseo de aventura y libertad que hasta cierto punto era cortado por su madre, la reina Elinor, quien contrario a su marido e hija, es alguien de modales refinados que siempre guarda la compostura, jamás involucrándose en actividades barbáricas. Mérida, completamente asqueada con la idea de solo quedarse en un castillo, cumpliendo los protocolos tan aburridos de esposa y reina, hará todo lo posible por no seguir las órdenes de su madre...
Disney and Pixar film released in 2012, tells the story of Merida, a Scottish teenage princess who grew up in royalty but also surrounded by adventure and a brave spirit, learned mostly from the influence of her father. La comunicación es la clave | Communication is key
Esta película demuestra que en las relaciones interpersonales el amor no lo es todo. Por supuesto que tiene que estar presente, siendo la base de la relación de pareja, de amistad, de hermanos o incluso de madre e hija como en este caso, perola comunicación es la clave para que una relación sea sana. El problema entre Mérida y Elinor se resume en falta de comunicación, puesto que ninguna escucha las necesidades ni deseos de la otra, siendo testarudas y enfocadas solo en el interés personal.
Claro que debemos priorizar nuestras necesidades, pero en una relación es muy importante también escuchar las del otro y sí, hay que ceder. No completamente, pero debemos hacer ciertas cosas por la otra persona de manera de poder aportar algo positivo para ella, y lo ideal es que esto sea recíproco.
This film shows that in interpersonal relationships, love is not everything. Of course it has to be present, being the basis of the relationship as a couple, friendship, siblings or even mother and daughter as in this case, butcommunication is the key for a relationship to be healthy. The problem between Merida and Elinor is summarized in a lack of communication, since neither listens to the needs or desires of the other, being stubborn and focused only on personal interest.
Of course we must prioritize our needs, but in a relationship it is also very important to listen to the other's needs and yes, you have to give in a little. Not completely, but we must do certain things for the other person in order to be able to contribute something positive for them, and ideally this is reciprocal.
Mérida ama a su madre y su madre Elinor la ama a ella, pero ninguna de las dos se escucha sino que están concentradas en lo que cada una considera correcto y el orgullo no laa deja ver más allá, mucho menos admitir que no tienen la razón. ¿Alguna vez has escuchado algo así? Merida loves her mother and her mother Elinor loves her, but neither of them listens to each other but rather they are focused on what each one considers right and pride does not allow them to see further, much less admit that they are not right. Have you ever heard anything like that? Well, it is really a very common situation since people rarely know how to communicate, but rather we assume that "the other knows" or that it is obvious. Nothing is ever completely obvious so we should not take anything for granted.
Además en esta historia Mérida atraviesa los cambios propios de la pubertad, dónde no es extraño que ella no quiera hacer las cosas que le dicen ni parecerse a su madre puesto que en esta etapa los adolescentes buscan su propia identidad y ser algo diferente a lo que sus padres esperan de ellos les da cierta sensación de independencia, los individualiza y se sienten como si por fin fueran alguien con una identidad.
Esto es completamente normal pero muy difícil de entender para los padres que generalmente solo desean cuidar a sus hijos y esa es otra de las partes del problema que se refleja en la película.
Furthermore, in this story, Merida goes through the changes of puberty, where it is not strange that she does not want to do the things she is told to or look like her mother since at this stage adolescents search for their own identity and to be something different from what their parents expect of them, it gives them a certain sense of independence, it individualizes them and they feel as if they are finally someone with an identity.
This is completely normal but very difficult to understand for parents who generally just want to take care of their children and that is another part of the problem that is reflected in the film.
A través de todas las dificultades poco a poco Mérida va entendiendo que su madre tiene características positivas y viceversa, lo que hace que ambas cambien de opinión y tomen la iniciativa de escucharse, lo cual es realmente lo que ambas añoraban. No sabían cómo comunicarlo o demostrarlo, pero una vez que descubren cómo se siente el alivio de ambas. Ninguna de las necesidades es priorizada por encima de la otra, sino que todas son importantes y entre ambas logran tener una relación equilibrada.
La película es muy emotiva puesto que logras empatizar con todos los personajes y ese momento de clímax muy probablemente te hará llorar (como a mí). Además los elementos mágicos son un plus que hace interesante la película, y ver también la historia de Mor'du como contraste de la de Mérida es también una excelente comparación, demostrando más o menos qué habría pasado con ella si sus decisiones hubieran sido otras.
Through all the difficulties little by little Merida understands that her mother has positive characteristics and vice versa, which makes them both change their minds and take the initiative to listen to each other, which is really what they both longed. They didn't know how to communicate it or show it, but once they find out how, they both feel relieved. None of the needs is prioritized above the other, but all are important and between the two they manage to have a balanced relationship.
The film is very emotional since you manage to empathize with all the characters and that climax moment will most likely make you cry (like me). Furthermore, the magical elements are a plus that makes the film interesting, and also seeing Mor'du's story as a contrast to Merida's is also an excellent comparison, demonstrating more or less what would have happened to her if her decisions had been different.
Hay elementos de comedia justos y necesarios para aliviar la tensión así como son la cantidad adecuada y para nada exagerados. Es comedia simple, sigue siendo una película de niños, pero es buena.
Aparte la animación es espectacular, como es usual en Pixar, y creo que lo más hermoso de todo es el cabello de Mérida 😅. Se ve demasiado suave y esponjado, dan muchas ganas de tocarlo jajaja
There are necessary comedy elements to relieve the tension as well as they are the right amount and not at all exaggerated. It's simple comedy, it's still a kids' movie, but it is good.
Besides, the animation is spectacular, as usual at Pixar, and I think the most beautiful thing of all is Merida's hair 😅. It looks too soft and fluffy, it makes you want to touch it hahaha
En general es una película preciosa, emotiva y con un mensaje muy importante para personas de cualquier edad. Puedes disfrutarla aunque sea una película infantil porque eso es lo que pasa cuando haces bien un trabajo, como en este caso.

Una vez llegan al castillo Mérida debe esconder a su madre para que su padre no la vea convertida en oso, por lo que con ayuda de sus hermanitos que también probaron el pastel y se convirtieron en osos logran llegar al tapete, sin embargo las cosas se complican cuando el padre de Mérida confunde a su esposa con Mor'du e intenta matarla pero Mérida logra defenderla.

In the end this works and her mother returns to normal as well as her three little brothers of hers. Queen Elinor also apologizes to her daughter for the mistakes made in the past, and after this they both improve their relationship. Mérida logra reparar el tapete sin embargo, se da cuenta que eso no funciona por lo que Mérida termina arrepentida por todo y abraza a su madre pidiéndole que volviera a la normalidad. Al final esto funciona y su madre vuelve a la normalidad al igual que sus tres hermanitos. La Reina Elinor también se disculpa con su hija por los errores cometidos en el pasado, y luego de esto ambas mejoran su relación. Los aliados regresan a sus respectivos reinos y todo queda en paz al final.
The first time I saw this movie was in the theater with my dad and boy did I like it. It is a movie that is a little out of the ordinary in the Disney factory since this time we are presented with a princess who does not need a man by her side to live since she can fend for herself, in my opinion it is very important let the audience know that not all of us dream of marriage so Merida really struck me as brave from the start. Let's say that I felt a little identified with Mérida since, like her, I have a somewhat difficult mother and like Mérida and her mother, my mother and I have also had our arguments because, like Mérida's mother, mine he tries to impose himself on me and that's why we ended up upset so I would say that this movie sends an important message in this regard since parents should know that it is not okay to impose things on their children that they really do not want for their life, and at the same time we We children should know that there are better ways to make our parents see their mistakes without having to argue so loudly (although sometimes we can't help it). The overall work of the voice actors is truly incredible as they made each character great.
La primera vez que vi esta pelicula fue en el cine con mi papá y vaya que me gustó. Es una pelicula que se sale un poco de lo común en la factoría Disney ya que esta vez nos presentan a una princesa que no necesita de un hombre a su lado para vivir ya que ella puede valerse por sí misma, en mi opinión es muy importante que la audiencia sepa que no todas soñamos con el matrimonio así que Mérida realmente me pareció valiente desde el principio. Digamos que me sentí un poco identificada con Mérida ya que al igual que ella tengo una mamá un poco difícil y al igual que Mérida y su madre, mi mamá y yo también hemos tenido nuestras discusiones porque al igual que la madre de Mérida, la mia trata de imponerse a mi y por eso terminamos disgustadas así que diría que esta película manda un importante mensaje al respecto ya que los padres deberían saber que no está bien imponerle cosas a los hijos que realmente no quieren para su vida, y al mismo tiempo nosotros los hijos deberíamos saber que hay mejores maneras de hacerle ver a nuestros padres sus errores sin necesidad de discutir tan fuerte (aunque a veces no lo podamos evitar). El trabajo en general de los actores de voz es realmente increíble ya que lograron que cada personaje fuese grandioso.
The plot in general seemed very good and entertaining since it not only shows us a different Princess, since Disney has shown us over the years that princesses must wait for a prince to come to rescue them to live happily ever after. so this film seemed like a great novelty and necessary to teach all girls, adolescents and even us adults a great lesson that we don't necessarily have to be married from a very young age to be happy, that a woman can be capable of to be happy, free and full being alone and that everything should come in due time, not force it or by imposition and what I liked most about the plot besides that is that the relationship between Mérida and her mother has also been dealt with already that after everything they had to go through they both realized that their attitude was not the most appropriate, especially that of the Queen when she wanted to compromise her daughter against her will. It seems like a tremendous movie to me so I really want to praise the work of the director, producers and also the entire technical team since they did a great job to bring us a very innovative movie.
La trama en general me pareció muy buena y entretenida ya que no solamente nos muestra a una Princesa diferente, ya que Disney nos ha mostrado a lo largo de los años que las princesas deben esperar a que venga un principe a rescatarlas para vivir felices para siempre así que esta película me pareció una gran novedad y necesaria para darnos una gran lección a todas las niñas, adolescentes y hasta a nosotras las adultas de que no necesariamente tenemos que estar casadas desde muy temprana edad para ser felices, que una mujer puede ser capaz de ser feliz, libre y plena estando sola y que todo debería de llegar en su momento, no forzarlo ni por imposición y lo que más me gustó de la trama además de eso es que también se haya tratado la relación entre Mérida y su madre ya que luego de todo lo que tuvieron que pasar ambas se dieron cuenta de que su actitud no fue la más adecuada, especialmente la de la Reina al querer comprometer a su hija en contra de su voluntad. Me parece una tremenda película así que de verdad quiero elogiar el trabajo del director, productores y también de todo el equipo técnico ya que hicieron un gran trabajo para traernos una película bastante innovadora.

La animación es realmente preciosa al igual que el diseño de todos los personajes pero en especial me encantó Mérida, me encantó que la hayan diseñado con un cabello rizado despeinado y precioso muy diferente a las demás princesas que se ven perfectas con sus inmaculados peinados por lo que hicieron de Mérida un personaje realmente innovador, y en general el diseño de todos los demás personaje fue increíble así que esta película me parece una gran obra de principio a fin, ya que el soundtrack también me fascinó así que considero que que nadie debería perdérsela así que se la quiero recomendar a todos los que me leen y todavía no hayan tenido la oportunidad de verla, les aseguro que la van a disfrutar tanto como yo.

After three days away since I was sharing with my daughter these days of Easter, taking her for a walk, see the sporting events that they do near my community, yesterday when we arrived a favorite animated movie, that is Valiente.
She is a character since the first time I saw her, I liked her, since she is not the character we are used to seeing in Disney, the princess who waits to be rescued by the prince, or the one from happily ever after, I love this movie . But seeing a new drama on disney makes the viewer fall in love.

Analysis
This animated film, about the link of mother and daughter, made me reflect on the love I have for my daughter. In turn, we can reflect with this film, as the bond between parent children should be. I love these animated films, apart from the fact that I share more time with my daughter, we enjoy it together, there are always new lessons that you can learn from them.
We must take care of the bond we have with our children, we must not impose on our children things that they do not want, or that they fulfill the dreams that we wanted one day for us, we must be a mother that we are there for our children, that we must guide them and Advise him on the right track. Seeing this movie I saw my daughter Daniela in the future, it is she and I, that we should be together with each other.
It also teaches us that by having good communication with our children, it helps us to know them more, this part looked like the change was when her mother became that one, she was not the strict mother who only did what she said , there was flexibility, each one knew each other.
Despite having a busy life, you should devote time to your children, not only by giving them material things you are filling that void that leaves your distance.
The word Brave has long since reflected this movie when her mother fights a bear to save her daughter.
