I read the successful book written by Katherine Paterson and enjoyed very much the wit that overflowed in the plot of the book and years later I saw the movie to verify that the screenplay accurately captured what was written and I was satisfied.

I later learned that it was written by the son of the book's writer, David L. Paterson. Paterson and that he was part of the production of this play that transports us for an hour and a half to live the situations of the two children who star in it and some of their friends.

Beyond showing us what the imagination is capable of creating, this play puts on the table situations that have become normal and even accepted but that represent a clear violation of the rights of each one to live free and also the belief of parents who think that abuse puts them in a place of power.

Everything happens smoothly in the life of Jess Aarons, a thirteen year old boy with a special talent for drawing, usually things of nature but with an introverted character until he meets Leslie Burke a girl with a cheerful character and an uncommon imagination who will find in the young man an ally to develop his stories and a place in an abandoned forest where they will proclaim themselves kings.

The former is played by actor Josh Hutcherson who already had a career of several films and had won Young Artist for his appearance in The Polar Express and who manages to repeat it for this film and the second one is played by Anna Sophia Robb for whom this was only her third film, who also won the Young Artist award for this film.

The critics' opinion was positive and praised the staging, the authors' interpretation and the fidelity to the original novel, while it had a majority support from the public who left almost 140 billion dollars at the box office, which multiplied the Disney production company's investment of only 25 billion.

The main scenes were filmed in New Zealand, Hobsonville and Woodhill Forest, the latter located in the same town, in addition to some rural areas located in Riverhead and Puhoi.

It is undoubtedly a good bet to watch it with the family.
