I’ve been reminiscing a lot on some of the animated movies I watched growing up, and a conversation with my friend today where we nearly had a playful food fight was when I remembered a delightful movie that I’m happy to share with you today. I may be getting back into my animated film era, but I think it will be with the older cartoons as newly released ones are not just as exciting, and frankly features certain things that I would rather not see.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
Flint Lockwood lives in Swallow Falls with his father, Tim, and his pet monkey, Steve. The island he lives in has their income from sardines which they supply to other regions. Flint is an inventor who often gets into arguments with Tim as he believes his son is wasting his time and should take over the family business. With the rest of the world suddenly disliking sardines, the people of Swallow Falls are forced to eat the sardines themselves and this leaves them disgruntled.
Not until Tim invents a machine that turns water into food. A mishap with the machine sends it up to the sky and soon enough, it begins to rain cheeseburgers as well as other foods. The rejected Swallow Falls soon becomes a tourist attraction as all want to see the island where any food possible can be gotten from the sky with a flick of a button. But soon enough, disaster falls as the invention decides to take matters into its own hands.
I can’t even lie, my biggest interest in this movie was the food. I watched this movie back-to-back, like thrice in a row, and kept salivating each time because of the wide array of different foods. I remember badgering my dad if we could get a machine like that and fantasizing about how cool it would be if I had access to food on a whim. I promised myself though, that I’ll be more conservative about my requests and won’t have my machine turning out like Flint’s. Lol, those were the days.
Like all other films, other issues were highlighted in this film. Like the need to be more supportive of the interests of your children and being more accepting of your uniqueness, no matter how weirdly others may look at you or take you to be. It was refreshing to see Flint come to terms with his aggressors, and although it doesn’t happen like that in real life, it was appealing to me then that those vital issues like bullying and identity crisis were addressed.
I don’t think I’ve seen many more films like Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. These days a lot to filter through and animated movies are not as carefree as they used to be. But I may watch this again. Just for the fun and delight of seeing food that I wouldn’t dare eat now that I’m older, again.

Hola hive, el mundo de las películas animadas a mi en lo particular me encanta, y ver como las diferencias que tiene cada estudio en hacer una película de este estilo es bastante curioso, en este caso la película de las que les voy a hablar me la he visto una buena cantidad de veces y me parece una genialidad, por esta razón es que voy a hablar de Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (o Lluvia De Hamburguesas como se le conoce en latinoamerica, que por cierto un muy buen nombre) es una película Animada lanzada en el 2009 que está está basada en un libro del mismo nombre, la película esta producida por Sony Pictures Animation y dirigida por Phil Lord y Christopher Miller. Dicho ya un poco de contexto, comencemos!
Cuando somos niños y vemos peliculas la mayoría de veces nuestro criterio de si una pelicula es buena o mala va ligado directamente a si nos divirtió o no dicha pelicula, sin embargo cuando vamos creciendo nos damos cuentas de detallitos objetivos que pueden hacer que amemos más dichas peliculas o que al contrario las empecemos a sentir como peliculas vacías, esta es la razón por la cual me encanta volver a ver peliculas que me gustaban mucho cuando era pequeño, me gusta comprobar si realmente eran tan buenas como las recuerdo.
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs es una pelicula Que tuve en bucle mucho tiempo, realmente me encantaba, pero esto no era en vano ya que realmente es una muy buena película. Empecemos con lo mas me gusta: La trama o su concepto, muchas veces la peliculas animadas Suelen apuntar a ser un conjunto de escenas cómicas y ya, pero esta película no es así, aunque el concepto principal es “lluvia de comida” que es bastante fantasioso, la película logra llevarlo a un plano bastante real y nos muestra hasta los problemas que esto podría traer.
El desarrollo de personajes en esta pelicula es impresionante, nos hacen entender tanto a cada personaje de forma individual como la relación que tienen con los otros, asi podemos entender como la madre de nuestro protagonista era un puente entre el padre y flint, tambien entendemos como desde un principio conectan flint y Sam debido a su pasado, y así con cada personaje. Es bastante cool De ver cuando le ponen tanto empeño a estas películas animadas.
La animación de esta película a es bastante bonita, en especial en esos momentos donde toda el ambiente es de comida, como en la escena donde llueve helado (que en lo personal es de mis momentos favoritos)
Aunque para ser totalmente sincero nunca he visto esta película en su idioma original, pero de igual forma hay que destacar el excelente cast Que hay detrás de los personajes, con actores súper conocidos como lo son Bill Hader como flint, Neil Patrick Harris como el mono Steve o Andy Samberg como baby Brent.
De verdad Que para mi es una excelente pelicula, lo tiene prácticamente todo y es muy muy muy divertida, creo que la consideraría como una de mi comfort movies porque sinceramente me parece genial.
Es bastante impresionante ver de una forma objetiva esa pelicula Que disfrutábamos tanto de niños y darnos cuenta que realmente son joyitas, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs no es una pelicula vacia, es una pelicula Que tiene un excelente arco, un mensaje bastante bonito, una animación que no decepciona y cast con actores excelentes, realmente creo que no se le puede pedir más a una película de este estilo.
En conclusion siento que volviéndola a ver le termine agarrando mas cariño del que ya le tenia, si te gustaba mucho esta película cuando eras Niño si o si tienes que volver a verla porque la experiencia sigue siendo igual de buena, y si no la has visto te la recomiendo totalmente.

When we are kids and we watch movies most of the times our criteria of if a movie is good or bad is directly linked to if we enjoyed or not that movie, however when we grow up we realize objective details that can make us love more those movies or on the contrary we start to feel them as empty movies, this is the reason why I love to watch again movies that I liked a lot when I was a kid, I like to check if they were really as good as I remember them.
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is a movie that I had on loop for a long time, I really loved it, but this was not in vain as it really is a very good movie. Let's start with what I like the most: The plot or its concept, many times animated movies usually aim to be a set of comic scenes and that's it, but this movie is not like that, although the main concept is "food rain" which is quite fanciful, the movie manages to take it to a quite real plane and even shows us the problems that this could bring.
The character development in this movie is impressive, they make us understand each character individually as well as the relationship they have with the others, so we can understand how the mother of our protagonist was a bridge between the father and flint, we also understand how from the beginning flint and Sam connect because of their past, and so on with each character. It's pretty cool to see when they put so much effort into these animated movies.
The animation of this movie is quite nice, especially in those moments where the whole atmosphere is food, as in the scene where it rains ice cream (which personally is one of my favorite moments).
Although to be totally honest I have never seen this movie in its original language, but I must also highlight the excellent cast behind the characters, with super well-known actors such as Bill Hader as Flint, Neil Patrick Harris as the monkey Steve or Andy Samberg as baby Brent.
For me it is an excellent movie, it has practically everything and it is very very very very funny, I think I would consider it as one of my comfort movies because I honestly think it's great.
It is quite impressive to see in an objective way that movie that we enjoyed so much as children and realize that they really are jewels, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is not an empty movie, it is a movie that has an excellent arc, a pretty nice message, an animation that does not disappoint and cast with excellent actors, I really think you can not ask more from a movie of this style.
In conclusion I feel that watching it again I ended up getting more affection for it than I already had, if you liked this movie when you were a kid you have to see it again because the experience is still as good, and if you have not seen it I totally recommend it.
