I found Damsel on Netflix it's a movie that has a pretty decent concept but the execution is so weak that you forget everything the minute you finish watching it, I watched it over the weekend and I kept thinking that it could have been something much better if they had put more effort into it or if they had hired someone who actually knew how to write a script that made sense. The thing is that Damsel sells you this story of a princess who is tricked into marrying a prince and it turns out everything is a trap because the royal family needs her as a sacrifice for a dragon that lives in a cave, that sounds good but the problem is that from beginning to end the movie is full of plot holes that have no explanation and characters who act like they don't have brains, Millie Bobby Brown does what she can with the material they gave her but for me neither she nor Angela Bassett nor Robin Wright look very interested in being there, it's like they had no passion for this project. The first part of the movie is super boring, it's like half an hour of pure nothing where Elodie who is the protagonist spends her time complaining that she doesn't want to get married but at the same time accepts because her village is starving to death, so you say well at least she's thinking about her people but then she acts like a selfish person the rest of the movie so not even that makes sense.

Damsel me la encontré en Netflix es una película que tiene un concepto bastante decente pero la ejecución es tan floja que se te olvida todo al minuto de terminatr de verla, yo la vi el fin de semana y me quedé pensanso que pudo haber sido algo mucho mejor si le hubieran metido más ganas o si hubieran contratado a alguien que de verdad supiera escribir un guion que tuviera sentido. La cosa es que Damsel te vende esta historia de una princesa que es engañada para casarse con un príncipe y resulta que todo es una trampa porque la familia real la necesita como sacrificio para un dragón que vive en una cueva, esp suena bien pero el problema es que desde el principio hasta el final la película está llena de huecos en la trama que no tienen explicación y personajes que actúan como si no tuvieran cerebro, Millie Bobby Brown hace lo que puede con el material que le dieron pero para mí ni ella ni Angela Basset ni Robin Wright se ven muy interesados en estar ahi, es como que si no tenían pasión por este proyecto. La primera parte de la peli es aburridísima, es como media hora de pura nada donde Elodie que es la protagonista se la pasa quejándose de que no quiere casarse pero al mismo tiempo acepta porque su pueblo está muriendo de hambre, entonces tu dices bueno al menos está pensando en su gente pero luego ella se comporta como una egoísta el resto de la película así que ni siquiera eso tiene sentido.

The dialogue is super basic and has no depth, there's no character development, there's no emotion about anything. Elodie meets the prince and tells him things like if he really likes her or not when she just met him two seconds ago, everything feels super forced and unnatural. When they throw her off the cliff after the wedding is where the action is supposed to start but this part doesn't work well either, first of all Elodie falls from super high and lands on some branches and survives without a single broken bone, not a scratch nothing at all, she's completely fine and that already tells you the level of logic this movie has, the dragon that lives in the cave is intelligent and can talk which is something I liked because it gives the creature more personality, it's not just a brainless monster that wants to kill, it has a plan and enjoys hunting the princesses like it's a game, that's good in theory but the execution is bad because Elodie is so dumb that she can't stay quiet for two seconds, she knows the dragon is hunting her and that it can hear everything but she spends all her time screaming and talking to herself. The movie becomes a repetitive cycle of Elodie hiding, trying to escape, being attacked by the dragon and barely escaping, this happens over and over and it feels eternal even though it's only an hour, the pacing is all wrong.

El dialogo es super básico y no tiene nunguan profundidad, no hay desarrollo de personajes, no hay emoción de nada. Elodie conoce al príncipe y le dice cosas como que si de verdad le gusta o no cuando acaba de conocerlo hace dos segundos, todo se siente super forzado y poco natural. Cuando la tiran al precipicio después de la boda es donde se supone que empieza la acción pero esta parte tampoco funciona bien, primero que nada Elodie cae super alto y aterriza en unas ramas y sobrevive sin un solo hueso roto, ni un rasguño nada de nasda, está completamente bien y eso ya te dice el nivel de lógica que tiene esta película, el dragón que vive en la cueva es inteligente y puede hablar lo cual es algo que me gusto porque le da más personalidad al bicho, no es solo un monstruo sin cerebro que quiere matar, tiene un plan y disfruta cazando a las princesas como si fuera un juego, eso está bien en teoría pero la ejecución es mala porque Elodie es tan tonta que no puede quedarse callada ni dos segundos, ella sabe que el dragón la está cazando y que puede escuchar todo pero se la pasa gritando y hablando sola todo el tiempo. La película se convierte en un ciclo repetitivo de Elodie escondiéndose, tratando de escapar, siendo atacada por el dragón y escapandose por muy poco, esto pasa una y otra vez y se siente eterno aunque solo sea una hora, el ritmo esta todo mal.

There's a bunch of things in the movie that don't make sense and are never explained, at one point Elodie sees some figures that other princesses carved in the rocks but she finds a map, something that makes no sense because to draw it someone would have had to go back to the hideout after finding the exit but that's not possible because the girl who drew it died on the other side of the cave, so nobody knows how she made the map, Elodie's dad shows up trying to rescue her but the dragon kills him and she stays hidden watching him die without doing anything, I don't know I think she could have come out and distracted the dragon so her dad could escape or something but no just act like a selfish person. The third part of the movie is the most ridiculous of all, Elodie manages to escape from the cave and magically becomes an expert warrior with a sword when she had never touched one in her life, suddenly she knows how to fight better than all the knights in the kingdom, can climb ropes at impossible speeds and has superhuman strength that has no explanation, all this because the script needs it.

Hay un montón de cosas en la película que no tienen sentido y que nunca se explican, en un momento Elodie ve unas figuras que tallaron otras princesas en las rocas pero se consigue con un mapa, algo que no tiene lógica porque para dibujarlo alguien tendría que haber regresado al escondite después de encontrar la salida pero eso no es posible porque la chica que lo dibujó murió en el otro lado de la cueva, entonces nadie sabe como hizo el mapa, el papá de Elodie aparece tratando de rescatarla pero el dragón lo mata y ella se queda escondida viendo como muere sin hacer nada, no sé puienso que pudo haber salid oy distraer al dragón para que el papá escapara o algo pero no actuar como una simple egoísta. La tercera parte de la peli es la más ridícula de todo, Elodie logra escapar de la cueva y se convierte mágicamente en una guerrera experta con espada cuando nunca en su vida había tocado una, de repente sabe pelear mejor que todos los caballeros del reino, puede trepar cuerdas a velocidades imposibles y tiene una fuerza sobrehumana que no tiene explicacion, todo esto porque el guion lo necesita.

The final battle with the dragon is so stupid, the dragon has like a thousand opportunities to kill Elodie but never does, it always waits until she's ready to attack when it could burn her alive from far away, in the end she fights the dragon with a sword and somehow wins, all the trained knights in the kingdom died trying to kill this dragon but she who has no training defeats it without problems. The worst thing about Damsel is that it had potential to be something interesting, the idea of a princess who has to survive in a cave with an intelligent dragon hunting her is good and could have been something more exciting but instead they decided to make the protagonist invincible for no reason at all, you never feel she's in real danger because you know she's going to survive everything no matter how impossible the situation is, the dragon acts like an idiot every time the script needs it to, all the men in the movie are either evil or useless and die, literally every man who appears on screen dies before the movie ends, the only one is the prince but he doesn't even talk much, the female empowerment message is so forced that it becomes uncomfortable, it's not subtle at all, they scream it in your face every five minutes.

La batalla final con el dragón es dem estupido, el dragón tiene como mil oportunidades de matar a Elodie pero nunca lo hace, siempre espera a que ella esté lista para atacar cuando podría quemarla viva desde lejos, al final ella pelea contra el dragón con una espada y de alguna manera gana, todos los caballeros entrenados del reino murieron intentando matar a este dragón pero ella que no tiene ningún entrenamiento lo derrota sin problemas. Lo peor de Damsel es que tenia potencial para ser algo interesante, la idea de una princesa que tiene que sobrevivir en una cueva con un dragón inteligente cazándola es bueno y pudo ser algo más emocionante pero en lugar de eso decidieron hacer que la protagonista fuera invencible sin razón alguna, nunca sientes que está en peligro real porque sabes que va a sobrevivir todo sin importar que tan imposible sea la situación, el dragón actúa como un idiota cada vez que el guion lo necesita, todos los hombres en la película son o malvados o inútiles y mueren, literalmente cada hombre que aparece en pantalla muere antes de que termine la película, el único es el príncipe pero el ni siquiera habla casi, el mensaje de empoderamiento femenino esta tan forzado que se vuelve incomodo, no es sutil para nada, te lo gritan en la cara cada cinco minutos.

The truth is Damsel is exactly the type of movie that Netflix makes over and over again, movies designed to be trendy for a while with famous actors and big budgets but that have no soul, they're products made to look good in the trailer and convince you to subscribe to Netflix but when you watch them you realize there's nothing there, nobody talks about these movies a week after they come out because there's nothing to talk about. The performances are bad in general, everyone is there for the paycheck and it shows, Millie Bobby Brown who is normally a good actress here is super flat, Angela Bassett who is an incredible actress is wasted in a role where she only has to be evil and that's it, Robin Wright shows up for a few minutes and doesn't contribute anything either. My score for Damsel is 5/10 and that's being nice, in my opinion it's in that category of Netflix movies that exist only to fill space in the catalog and that's it, I don't recommend it it's not worth your time unless you have nothing else to do and even then it's better to watch something else, the only good thing is the dragon's voice actress who did a good job but that's it, the rest is a boring mess with plot holes the size of a truck and characters whose names you can't even remember.

La verdad Damsel es exactamente el tipo de pelicula que Netflix hace una y otra vez, peliculas diseñadas para ser moda por un rato con actores famosos y presupuestos grandes pero que no tienen alma, son productos hechos para verse bien en el trailer y convencerte de que te suscribas a Netflix pero cuando las ves te das cuenta de que no hay nada ahí, nadie habla de estas películas una semana después de que salen porque no hay nada de que hablar. Las actuaciones son malas en general, todos estan ahi por el pago y se nota, Millie Bobby Brown que normalmente es buena actriz aquí esta súper plana, Angela Basset que es una actriz increíble esta desperdiciada en un papel donde solo tiene que ser malvada y ya, Robin Wright aparece por unos minutos y tampoco aporta nada. Mi punruación para Damsel es 5/10 y eso siendo buena, en mi opinión está en esa categoría de pelis de Netflix que existen solo para llenar espacio en el catálogo y ya, no la recomiendo no vale tu tiempo a menos que no tengas nada más que hacer y hasta así es mejor ver otra cosa, lo único bueno es la actriz de voz del dragón que hizo un buen trabajo pero eso es todo, el resto es un desastre aburrido con huecos de trama del tamaño de un camión y personajes que no puedes ni recordar sus nombres.

Hi everyone, not too long ago I saw the movie Damsel. I guess it was a trailer that made me do it. I'm not a big fan of the genre, but this fantasy-drama adventure movie surprised me positively. The movie is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and is from 2024.😃

It's about a young woman Elodie played by Millie Bobby Brown who is tricked into an arranged marriage to secure the future of her family. But instead of a happy marriage, she discovers that she is to be sacrificed to a fire-breathing dragon instead. Here there is nerve-wracking action and dark humor that I really liked. There are good acting performances and I really liked Millie Bobby Brown as the charismatic Elodie who is both vulnerable and heroic. Visually, the movie is impressive, with imaginative landscapes and good music throughout the movie. The plot may seem a bit predictable, but the movie manages to keep me interested and the action is like a modern twist on "damsel in distress" where Elodie takes fate into her own hands. I liked it and give this a solid 7.

I just emerged from a moderately thrilling cinematic adventure and I'm just so eager to share a review. It turns out this movie has been out for about nine months and courtesy of the ceaseless short clips and many video reviews, my subconscious assumed I had seen the entire movie already.

Eventually, I created time to see the movie and I'll like to start by saying the movie “Damsel” was a scintillating watch right from the beginning.

About The Movie

Elodie, an unconventional princess, is destined for a life of royal duties and marriage. Soon enough, Elodie’s parents arrange a transactional marriage to a charming prince Henry to gain financial liberation and save their impoverished subjects. In order to assuage her parents from their imminent financial doom, she agrees to marry Prince Henry.

One minute she is being pampered like the princess she is and the next minute she's being yanked into a dungeon that houses a primitive fire breathing dragon as a form of sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Elodie has to rely solely on her wit and will to survive.

This fantasy action fairytale film released on the 8th of March, 2024, was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and spans for an hour and fifty minutes.

My Thoughts

I saw the movies ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Enola Holmes’ some months back and in these pieces, Millie Bobby Brown(a multidimensional character who embodies both vulnerability and strength) performed exceptionally well in the said movies. It's no doubt that I opted to see yet another movie by her when I came across it. As such, it's safe to say that Elodie was one of the major reasons I decided to see this movie and was I disappointed by her performance this time? Certainly not.

The initial eerieness, suspicion and spooky moves had me glued as none of it made any sense at the start; just like it should be. Why were the royals urgently searching for a bride? And three brides in a row for that matter. Why was the prideful Queen ready to spare a smile to the “low life’ royals all of a sudden?” Why as a blood covenant between the newly married couples made? Eventually, I got the answers to both my asked and unasked questions.

The word protagonist really came in to play in this film because ninety-five percent of the scenes had Elodie in them. This would have been a terrible thing if Elodie was a heinous character but her screenplay was just ideal. This left little to no room for the development of other characters but that didn't make the supporting characters any less impressive.

With the way this film began, I expected a more exhilarating ending but that wasn't the case. To an extent, it felt like all the magic happened at the start of the movie leaving only crumbs for the end. This led to an insipid and easily predictable end but luckily, the beginning made up for the end after all.

Meanwhile, themes like female empowerment and trauma were expertly depicted in the film, making it a relatable piece. The cinematography on the other hand was also very appealing and impressive.

Recommendation and Rating.

This movie was a delightful surprise that offered a bold twist from traditional fairytale tale tropes. The plot was an unorthodox one that's provided a fresh perspective. With this, I would give the movie a 6.5/10 rating. It is a generally good watch and I believe it would be particularly thrilling to the fans of fantasy and fairytale movie genres.

Scattered thoughts can do a lot of things to you, and I guess that is why I found myself being immersed in a film that I didn’t think I was ever going to have the willpower to see.

And because I didn’t want the reviews of the movie to either discourage or amplify my hopes, I only saw the cast, and that was all I needed to know. I loved Millie Bobby Brown from her epic acting in Sherlock Holmes, Angela Bassett is an OG, so of course I was interested in what role she played in the movie. I also saw that it was about dragons, and a fantasy-loving girl could nearly shed tears of joy. Here is the review of this maybe spoiler-filled movie(because I do expect everyone who was interested to have watched it by now).

Damsel (2024)

Princess Elodie’s(Millie Brown) kingdom is faced with unending winter and severe drought. As a kind royal who loves her people, she gives orders to increase the people’s food and resource rations as many times as possible. However, things do not seem to get any better for them. One day, she returns from her time outdoors to find out that her father, the King, has received a proposal of marriage on her account from the faraway land of Aurea.

Her entire family lives their Kingdom to Aurea but after their seemingly warm welcome, Princess Elodie’s Stepmom(Angela Bassett) senses something off and tries to warn her stepdaughter against the marriage. She doesn’t listen and the marriage happens anyway because the princess has taken a liking to her betrothed. On the very day the marriage happens, however, Princess Elodie receives the shock of her life as she discovers that not only is her new family not who she thought they were, but they’ve also set a deadly trap for her. One she may make it out of? Or can she...

My Review and Rating

Sprint is the word to describe it, because that’s what I did. I sprinted to the part where I’d get to give my thoughts because I needed to have an outlet for the things I saw in this movie, else I’d burst. Problem now is where to begin. And I think I’ll start with the cons to this movie as the pros do not leave me much to work with.

First, the accent. Whoever thought it wise to give Angela Bassett such accent didn’t do right. I think the creators of this movie where in a rush, whether it is to release the next “blockbuster” or the eagerness to give Millie Brown another star role, I don’t know. But if they had devoted time to crafting the plot and maybe more time for the actors to master their English accents, this movie may not have been this appalling.

Then, there is the plot. And I could sum how bad it was to the fact that it lacked CONTENT. More than half the time, it was Princess Elodie being chased across the screen. The illogicalities also include a yearly sacrifice of different princesses from different kingdoms where all of their families seem to be struggling enough to just sign a pact that their daughters are dragon food? That is, after being lied to initially that it would be a normal marriage. No one that is connected to Aurea can put the pieces together as to why princesses are disappearing almost immediately after the marriage? The dragon too, after centuries, does not realize, even with the fact that these women are all from different genealogies, that she’s being hoodwinked? Not so smart, is she?

Again, the general script, I just couldn’t . Why was Elodie who is supposed to be in hiding screaming so much? Why doesn’t she know when to run? Why, after yelling so much, couldn’t she speak up when people had come to rescue her? Why was she portrayed as frightened and fragile in the beginning, only to be portrayed as suddenly strong and invincible, brandishing swords like she’d wielded it all her life at the end? Why would she take her step mother’s horse leaving her stranded in the mountains after seeing she was recently stabbed and race back to the dragon's lair? And how couldn’t she think to use the healing worms to save her dying father but remembered it in saving a whole dragon?

Hmmm....where does it end? Princess Elodie was portrayed to be some terminator, so that even when she was badly burnt by the dragon, she totally did not register her wounds and was sprinting from one place to the other. And to what end did she cut her hair and lose more and more of her clothing? In a cold cave! Feminist movies are all great but women are beautiful, strong and powerful as they are. Strolling out of a burning castle shows nothing. Reusing plots and characters does nothing as well for female empowerment. We frankly need more movies with complex female characters. And not...this.

The ending, unsurprisingly, was very predictable. The cliché lines of “I’m done being told what to do,” when there was practically never a time she listened was comical. As well as acting like she was going to kill the dragon but not following up with it, adding yet another eyeroll-worthy line to the mix. Like, really guys....do better.

Oh...I almost forgot to state the good parts of this movie. It’s exciting, if you’re looking for something comical. The costumes were amazing, the acting and role interpretation were great too, the set and CGI all did their best to make this movie noteworthy. With the budget used, it wasn’t surprising that they at least delivered in these aspects. I would give Damsel a shaky 6/10. Glad to be done with it. Praying that this is not the future of the Hollywood film industry.

Today I present you a very good movie called Damsel, a film that mixes the world of Fantasy, adventure and action, set in the medieval world where two kingdoms try to form alliances to recover economically, but the secret that hides this kingdom comes to light when a powerful creature from the depths emerges to devour the successors of an ancient king.

El día de hoy te presentó una película muy buena llamada Damsel, un film que mezcla el mundo de la Fantasía, aventura y acción, ambientado en el mundo de medieval donde dos reinos intentan formar alianzas para poder recuperarse económicamente, pero el secreto que esconde este reino sale a la luz cuando una poderosa criatura de las profundidades emerge para devorar a los sucesores de un antiguo rey.

Many years ago, a king was in search of a mysterious treasure that is said to bring prosperity in the kingdom for thousands of generations and that also aria that no nation will face him for the mysteries that this mountain holds.

Al momento de encontrar ese misterioso tesoro encuentran 3 extrañas criaturas, donde un rey y sus soldados deciden acabar con su vida, despertando la furia del peor enemigo de un caballero medieval, quizás la muerte sea una bendición para el gran pecado que este rey ha hecho al matar a estas criaturas, en lugar de morir, este poderoso demonio le da la maldición de entregar a lo más sagrado que tiene durante 3 generaciones, y que si no lo hace acabará con todo lo que creado en el mundo y acabaría con toda la humanidad.

Aunque no quiera hacerlo, deberá de buscar la forma de darle lo que quiere a la criatura, porque deberá de combatir contra el reloj, cada ciertos años tiene que entregarle lo que esta enorme criatura pide si quiere mantener a él y toda su generación con vida.

We will meet a princess named "Elodie", a woman who does not like formalities and just wants to live a quiet life with her family without being forced to do all those things that a princess must do, she spends most of her time exploring all the corners of her father's kingdom until she receives news that is the main reason for a king to have children, to marry a prince to divide the wealth of both kingdoms.

Her father practically forces her to marry, since her kingdom is in an economic collapse where if she does not do this, she will lose her entire kingdom and must return to the fields in order to survive. Something that becomes for these men a total dishonor, and if it is to give their daughter in marriage for her honor, they do it without thinking twice.

Although she does not agree, she maintains the hope that at least she will marry a charming prince who will treat her as she deserves, as a queen, but there is something else that makes her father feel very worried and guilty with that decision.

Conoceremos a una princesa llamada "Elodie", una mujer a la que no le gustan mucho las formalidades y que solamente quiere vivir una vida tranquila al lado de su familia sin que le obliguen hacer todas esas cosas que una princesa debe hacer, pasa la mayor parte del tiempo explorando por todos los roncones del reino de su padre hasta que recibe una noticia a la que es el motivo principal de un rey al tener hijos, casarse con un príncipe para dividir las riquezas de ambos reinos.

Su padre la obliga prácticamente a casarse, ya que su reino se encuentran en un colapso económico donde si no hace esto, perderá todo su reino y deberán de volver a los campos para poder sobrevivir. Cosa que se convierte para estos hombres en una deshonra total, y si es de dar a su hija en matrimonio por su honor, lo hacen sin pensarlo 2 veces.

Aunque ella no este de acuerdo, mantiene la esperanza de que por lo menos se casara con un príncipe encantador que la tratara como se merece, como una reina, pero hay algo más que hace que su padre se sienta muy preocupado y culpable con esa decisión.

In his last steps to get married, every moment that passes his father feels much more paranoid and guilty with this decision, there is something much more beyond that his daughters and wife do not know, awakening dramatic moment where the father is very noticeable face of concern.

As the days go by, Princess Elodie begins to notice that strange things are happening in this beautiful and huge castle, realizing that not everything will be rosy, so she decides to investigate a little, but in the process fails to find anything and only gets carried away by the charm of her future husband.

En sus últimos pasos para casarse, cada momento que pasa su padre se siente mucho más paranoico y culpable con esta decisión, hay algo mucho más allá que sus hijas y esposa no saben, despertando momento dramático donde al padre se le nota mucho el rostro de la preocupación.

Now let's talk about how good it was for me according to my tastes, I like movies set in this era, the fantasy genre does not please me much, but they managed very well to make it not seem so fake to me, the story is completely good, the setting and character development seemed excellent to me.

I gave this movie 5 stars out of 5, even though it has a little bit of that fantasy that I don't like, the story and the drama it generates in each of the settings is wonderful.

Although in Rotten Tomatoes the critics have not given it a good appreciation (56%), for the audience in general it has seemed quite good (60%), I liked it a lot and I spent 1 hour and 50 minutes very well spent watching this amazing movie.

Elodie sobrevive ante esta poderosa criatura gracias al poder de la verdad, salvando su vida y la de futuras "reinas" que intenten casarse con un falso príncipe que era utilizado por su madre para poder viviendo sobre esa montaña plagada de maldiciones.

Ahora hablemos de lo buena que fue para mí según mis gustos, me gustan las películas ambientadas en esta época, el género de la fantasía no me agrada mucho, pero se las apañaron muy bien para poder hacer que no me parezca tan falso, la historia es completamente buena, la ambientación y el desarrollo de los personajes me pareció excelente.

A esta película le he dado 5 estrellas de 5, aunque tenga un poco de esa fantasía que no me gusta, la historia y el drama que genera en cada uno de los escenarios es maravilloso.

Aunque en Rotten Tomatoes los críticos no le hayan dado una buena apreciación (56%), para la audiencia en general le ha parecido bastante buena (60%), a mí me gusto mucho y pase 1 hora con 50 minutos muy bien gastados viendo esta asombrosa película.

Finally, I found the time to watch this movie that has been recommended to me multiple times on this platform by amazing people, but I only have one question to ask the film critics; why the bad reviews? I don't understand why people always expect masterpieces from every new movie been released. Probably because technology has advanced and people are thirsty for more things. So I wouldn't entirely blame the critics of this movie.

Watching this movie was fun for me and it was pretty entertaining for me except for one or two flaws there. I love anything that has to do with dragons as you all know. So immediately I read some reviews here, I quickly made time to see and it was worth my time.

’Damsel (2024)’ is a dark fantasy movie that was distributed by Netflix. It was written by Dan Mazeau and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. The movie starred Millie Bobby Brown, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright.

The storyline of the movie centers around a young beautiful damsel, Elodie whose father received a proposal from the Queen of Aurea, Isabella to marry her son Prince Henry. Elodie’s clan needed this union to survive for the upcoming winter as their barnes and food storage were getting low. Still Elodie was skeptical about the proposal, but her father urged and encouraged her to marry the Prince.

Soon, Elodie and her family journeyed in a ship to the kingdom of Aurea to honor the Queen's proposal. Immediately they got there, Elodie met the Prince and they both got to know each other. Soon their wedding was organized and the ceremony was carried out.

Unfortunately, Elodie discovered that she was not the bride but an actual sacrificial lamb to appease a ruthless and dreadful dragon so that ancient debt can be repaid. Will Elodie survive? What happens to her family she left behind in the Aurea palace?

My Review And Rating.

Like I said earlier, I love anything that has to do with dragons. I am a huge fan that I have some of my jewelry in dragon shapes. I think Netflix did a good job with this movie. It wasn't that bad as a lot of viewers have rated it. This is an amazing movie I have seen since Hobbit : Desolation of Smaug (I didn't forget about GOT or HOD). I love a good fantasy movie and this movie delivered what I anticipated.

Damsel is a movie with a relatively small space/filming location. This was augmented with beautiful landscapes, costumes, colors, the lighting, the visual CGI and the camera work. All these gave the movie a good outlook, and it made the movie exciting to watch. Also, the dragon was excellent, it looked fierce, scary and fearsome. Though I didn't really like the voice of the voice actor. She was still able to create and portray a menacing presence to the audience, that I commend her for.

The plot of this movie was pretty well written and straightforward. I appreciate the fact that there was no unnecessary humor or comedy in the plot or dialogues. The characters were well built, it wasn't that bad as people say. It is a cool plot, with a ferocious dragon, a headstrong lead character, good action scenes and above all a fantastic movie for family time.

The scene arrangements were okay but not a masterpiece. Millie Brown carried out her role well. She was impressive except for her loud, constant, and ear-breaking screams, (like, you are not in the lake of fire, shut the f*ck up.). The dragon was awesome. Angela Bassett, regardless she did have much to say, she made her impact, I felt her presence throughout the movie.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the ending. I anticipated a heart gripping end that will not be forgotten considering how thrilling the movie was like from the beginning. The end felt cliché, cheesy and it was predictable.

Rating this movie, I will give it 6 out of 10 stars. It was good, entertaining, interesting and thrilling. I enjoyed watching this movie and it is not as bad as people say. Ignore the bad reviews and give this movie a chance.

These last months they have released many productions that are coming out great, counting with new very young actors, directors that are very little recognized, but they are willing to work to recreate movies with some money and become an overnight success. In addition, in Netflix we can find productions of all kinds and over the weekend I was encouraged to see one that is trending and managed to combine a large number of very good aspects along with fantasy, adventure and thus be able to recreate the film of Damsel and at the time of reading a little of it and watch the trailer I noticed that there was something special and could not pass up such production, where in less than two hours will happen a unique adventure.

Estos últimos meses han sacado muchas producciones que están saliendo de maravilla, contando con nuevos actores muy jóvenes, directores que son muy poco reconocidos, pero que están dispuestos a trabajar para recrear películas con algo de dinero y que se conviertan en un éxito de la noche a la mañana. Además, en Netflix podemos encontrar producciones de todo tipo y el fin de semana me animé a ver una que está en tendencia y lograron combinar una gran serie de aspectos muy buenos junto a la fantasía, la aventura y así poder recrear la película de Damsel y al momento de leer un poco de ella y ver el tráiler note que había algo especial y no podía dejar de pasar dicha producción, donde en menos de dos horas sucederán una aventura única.

At first this movie felt a little slow and maybe it is because of the same theme and in my case I rarely see this kind of fantasy movies, for being very exaggerated or always being the same and we already know how the dynamics of the plot will be. I certainly continued watching and things took a different path as certain details were resolved in a very fast and interesting way, as she goes from being a princess to having to fight against dragons, who are willing to kill everyone and it was something I never expected to see and from there the action began.

Una película que tiene un toque especial, donde podemos notar princesas, príncipes, dragones, ejércitos y una época medieval donde se desarrolla toda la producción, contando con ciertos aspectos de otras películas, sin embargo, aquí nos va narrando la historia de una princesa quien buscara ese príncipe para poder gobernar, pero detrás de todo eso se encuentra un misterio, que nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Serán la mejor pareja?, Podrán gobernar y que nadie les quite su puesto y muchas otras cosas que solo están presentes en esta historia de fantasía, como también resaltando el trabajo en equipo, valentía, fuerza y la verdad por delante siempre será de gran importancia.

Al principio esta película la sentí un poco lenta y quizás sea por la misma temática y en mi caso muy poco veo este tipo de películas de fantasía, por ser muy exageradas o siempre ser lo mismo y ya conocemos como será la dinámica de la trama. Sin duda continué viendo y las cosas fueron tomando otro camino a medida que se iba resolviendo ciertos detalles de una manera muy rápida e interesante, ya que pasa de ser princesa a tener que luchar contra dragones, que están dispuestos a matar a todo el mundo y fue algo que jamás me espere ver y de allí comenzó la acción.

In addition, it is a film that leads us to keep watching and see what happens to the princess, where the slightest mistake can affect a lot, plus you can see that side of survival that every human being can bring out, since it would not be good to stand in front of a great dragon.

The atmosphere of the time was wonderful, playing with a great combination of colors, the theme and especially the special effects in order to recreate each part of the fantasy story and these are things that require a lot of time and dedication to get it right. One of the things I liked the most is how they managed to present the dragon in each of the parts where he makes an appearance, bought to other movies where they go out this one deserves an award for being more realistic. Also, we can see that it can vote fire and take the action to another, therefore, seeing a princess and a dragon will be the fun of it all.

Ha logrado una gran cantidad de reproducciones esta película con tan solo pocas semanas de su estreno y me pareció increíble como lograron armarla y llevar esa creatividad al siguiente nivel, pasando por esa época medieval, conflictos, guerras y por eso las críticas han sido muy positivas y son cosas que favorecen a la producción para seguir escalando de puesto. Además, es una película que nos lleva a seguir viendo y ver que pasa con dicha princesa, donde el mínimo error que se cometa puede afectar muchísimo, además se nota ese lado de supervivencia que todo ser humano puede sacar, ya que no sería nada bueno quedarse parado frente a un gran dragón.

La ambienta de la época les quedo de maravilla, jugando con una gran combinación de colores, la temática y sobre todo los efectos especiales para así poder recrear cada parte de la historia de fantasía y son cosas que requieren de mucho tiempo y dedicación para que salga bien. Una de las cosas que más me gusto es como lograron presentarnos al dragón en cada una de las partes donde hace acto de presencia, comprado a otras películas donde salen esta merece un premio, por ser más realista. Además, podemos ver que puede votar fuego y llevar la acción a otro, por lo tanto, ver a una princesa y a un dragón será la diversión de todo esto.

La actuación de la gran actriz Millie Bobby Brown es muy buena y esta es la segunda vez que la veo en una pantalla y sin duda es una joven que cuenta con un trayecto muy grande en el mundo de la actuación y esta vez toma un buen papel, demostrando ese toque de amabilidad, cariño y su gran responsabilidad al ser una bella reina, sin duda detrás de eso está ese joven que es una guerrera, luchadora y me gusto como tiene que ir resolviendo cada uno de los asuntos y verdades ante ese mundo, dándole un gran toque a esta película y sin ella esta producción no sería lo mismo, demostrando que es capaz de poder resolver y no dejarse humillar por los demás.

Una película que logro un gran impacto y me gusto la manera como nos las presentaron y lo bueno es que no es tan extensa y le dan un final único a este historia de fantasía, donde cada quien toma su camino y se pueden reverla muchos secretos de ese reinado, por eso este tipo de historias serán una maravilla. ¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨ Para nadie es un secreto que los cortes de luz que todos estamos viviendo podrían convertirse en una razón completamente válida para enloquecer, afortunadamente (y ésto lo digo con mucho respeto y propiedad) en el sector de mi casa al menos tenemos días y horarios establecidos para dichos cortes, sé que en muchos lugares no es así y por eso lo menciono desde mi experiencia personal, pero comento ésto porque al mal tiempo buena cara y al tener al menos días y horarios he podido establecer cierta rutina de preparación, la cual incluye descargar películas o libros para pasar el rato, es así como he podido invertir éste tiempo en disfrutar de películas o series de las que luego puedo hablar por aquí, siendo el caso en ésta oportunidad del reciente estreno de Netflix Damisela 🐲👑, de la cual hablaremos de dia de hoy.

SINOPSIS || SYNOPSIS
Aunque pueda parecer encantadora al inicio, la historia de ésta damisela no es un cuento de hadas. Elodie es la princesa de un pequeño poblado que actualmente se encuentra en la pobreza, aunque todos hacen su mayor esfuerzo para intentar sobrevivir, la verdad es que sin recursos será prácticamente imposible, es por eso que cuando el matrimonio toca a la puerta, el padre de Elodie decide que será la mejor opción para salvar a su pueblo. Convencida de que ésto es parte de su deber, nuestra damisela acepta dicho matrimonio y aunque todo parecía completamente perfecto al inicio, pronto se da cuenta que su apuesto príncipe y su familia solo la quieren para un objetivo: el sacrificio. Una antigua deuda debe ser saldada, y es así como lo que parecía ser un cuento de hadas, pronto se convierte en una historia de supervivencia en donde Elodie debe encontrar la forma de salvarse a sí misma de la fuerza de una dragona 🐲.

PROTAGONISTAS || PROTAGONISTS
Desde mi punto de vista ésta historia tiene principalmente dos protagonistas, y no estamos hablando del príncipe 🤣, Elodie y la Dragona son sin duda alguna los personajes principales de ésta película, pero vamos a irnos por partes para que puedan entender mi punto. Elodie es nuestra protagonista principal de eso no hay duda, y siento que es un personaje muy bien construido, para nada se siente forzado su transitar y ese cambio de rol de pasar de ser una damisela con modales intachables, a ser una guerrera que está luchando por su vida, y cuando hablo de forzado me refiero a esa transición medio extraña que a veces tienen las protagonistas en donde de un momento a otro ya saben pelear, lanzar cuchillos, dar vueltas en el aire y demás cosas que aprenden en 2 segundos de trama 🤣, aquí Elodie si es verdad que se toma un poco más de tiempo, la vemos llorar de frustración, entrar en crisis por no saber qué hacer, aceptar que va a morir en punto de la historia, y tomar la fuerza necesaria para sobrevivir, y eso es lo que al menos yo espero de historias de éste tipo en donde a la chica le toca aprender rápidamente cómo hacer para vivir y superar semejante amenaza que se le atraviesa. Además de ésto, me gustó mucho de ella la interacción que tuvo con su hermana, a pesar de ser breve a mí parecer, y sin duda alguna los encuentros que tiene con la Dragona son buenísimos 🔥.

From my point of view this story has mainly two main characters, and we are not talking about the prince 🤣, Elodie and the Dragoness are undoubtedly the main characters of this film, but let's go by parts so you can understand my point. Elodie is our main protagonist, there is no doubt about that, and I feel that she is a very well built character, her transition and that change of role from being a damsel with impeccable manners, to being a warrior who is fighting for her life, and when I talk about forced I mean that strange transition that sometimes the protagonists have where from one moment to another they already know how to fight, throw knives, spin around in the air and other things, Here Elodie takes a bit more time, we see her crying out of frustration, going into crisis for not knowing what to do, accepting that she's going to die at some point in the story, and taking the necessary strength to survive, and that's what at least I expect from stories of this kind where the girl has to learn quickly how to live and overcome such a threat that comes her way. Besides this, I really liked the interaction she had with her sister, even though it was brief in my opinion, and without a doubt the encounters she has with the Dragon are great 🔥.

En segundo lugar tenemos a la Dragona, que no es la villana de ésta historia aunque podría parecer que sí 🤣, y su construcción la hace sentirse como un personaje con todas las letras de la palabra, tiene voz y eso es un elemento importante porque la vemos interactuando constantemente con Elodie, es quien nos dice porque Elodie está en la situación que está, aunque la verdad es que a ella la han engañado durante todo éste tiempo y a mí parecer ese fue un punto débil en la trama, es un personaje con mucha fuerza y no lo digo porque sea Dragona, sino porque logras sentirla con toda su rabia, con todo su poder y con toda su locura, y digo ésto porque definitivamente está loca 🤣, la manera en como ha disfrutado a los largo de los años el asesinar a todos sus sacrificios, es sin duda alguna una razón para decir que es una psicópata 🤣, aunque al final se justifican sus actos, o mas bien se explica la razón de sus acciones, igual a mí parecer es un personaje completamente desquiciado, eso sí no tanto como otros. Visualmente está muy bien hecha, hay que tener en cuenta que ésto no es Juego de Tronos o La Casa del Dragón, así que tampoco pidamos algo de ese calibre en los efectos visuales de la Dragona, pero debo dar crédito al trabajo que se realizó, ahora yo tuve una pequeña disonancia con la voz del personaje, pero quizás sea el doblaje porque la vi en español, tal vez su voz en inglés sea más acorde y tenga mayor impacto, porque definitivamente doblada le hizo falta fuerza.

Secondly we have the Dragoness, who is not the villain of this story although it might seem so 🤣, and her construction makes her feel like a character with all the letters of the word, she has a voice and that is an important element because we see her interacting constantly with Elodie, she is the one who tells us why Elodie is in the situation she is in, although the truth is that she has been deceived during all this time and to me that was a weak point in the plot, she is a character with a lot of strength and I don't say that because she is a dragon, but because you can feel her with all her rage, with all her power and with all her madness, and I say this because she is definitely mad 🤣, the way she has enjoyed murdering all her sacrifices over the years, is without a doubt a reason to say that she is a psychopath 🤣, although at the end her actions are justified, or rather the reason for her actions are explained, still in my opinion she is a completely unhinged character, but not as much as others. Visually it is very well done, keep in mind that this is not Game of Thrones or Dragon House, so let's not ask for something of that caliber in the visual effects of the Dragon, but I must give credit to the work that was done, now I had a little dissonance with the voice of the character, but maybe it's the dubbing because I saw it in Spanish, maybe her voice in English is more consistent and has more impact, because definitely dubbed it lacked strength.

ASPECTOS POSITIVOS || POSITIVE POINTS
Me gustaron mucho los efectos visuales, sí hay momentos en los que te das cuenta que el CGI como que falló un poco, pero en líneas generales los efectos visuales fueron muy buenos, me encantó que no es una película oscura, y aquí voy a sacar toda mi crítica a esas películas o series que no se ven por lo oscura que son, aquí no pasa y estoy agradecida enormemente de ello, incluso aunque el 80% de la historia transcurre en una cueva, puedo decir que es una cueva iluminada 🤣. El vestuario y el castillo fueron elementos muy bien cuidados, se nota el lujo que tenían en ese reino y eso hace mucho contraste con el lugar de donde viene Elodie, y justo eso ayuda a entender las decisiones que se toman en torno al matrimonio. Pese a que la película no es oscura, sí se siente claustrofóbica y ésto no lo señalo como punto negativo básicamente porque si nuestra protagonista está encerrada en una cueva, luchando por su vida, anhelando volver a salir y ver a su familia, que la película se sienta de tal forma habla de lo bien lograda que estuvo, ahora yo la ví estando sin electricidad a las 8pm 🤣, así que capaz eso haya ayudado en éste elemento, pero igual me parece un excelente elemento a destacar.

I really liked the visual effects, yes there are moments where you realize that the CGI kind of failed a little, but overall the visual effects were very good, I loved that it is not a dark film, and here I will take out all my criticism to those movies or series that are not seen because of how dark they are, here it does not happen and I am grateful for it, even though 80% of the story takes place in a cave, I can say that it is a lighted cave 🤣. The costumes and the castle were very well cared for elements, you can see the luxury they had in that kingdom and that makes a lot of contrast with the place where Elodie comes from, and just that helps to understand the decisions that are made around the marriage. Although the film is not dark, it does feel claustrophobic and I don't point this out as a negative point basically because if our protagonist is locked in a cave, fighting for her life, longing to get back out and see her family, that the film feels that way speaks of how well made it was, now I saw it without electricity at 8pm 🤣, so maybe that has helped in this element, but I still think it's an excellent element to highlight.

Ahora bien, no es una película perfecta y está lejos de serlo, así como tiene puntos positivos también tiene puntos negativos, entre ellos tengo el ritmo de la historia, siento que la película llevaba un muy buen ritmo hasta cierta escena con el papá, a partir de allí agregaron elementos a la trama que siento que no eran necesarios, a qué me refiero, el tema de la hermana (para quienes ya vieron la película entenderán) no era necesario, es más podría decir que a partir de allí se pierde un poco el interés, da un poco la sensación de que les faltaba trama en la película y para rellenar tiempo decidieron añadir esa parte, cuando yo personalmente considero que más bien lo que se pudo hacer fue mostrar lo que ocurria fuera de la cueva, y ahí va mi segundo elemento negativo y es el desperdicio de cast que tiene, literalmente aparece más la Dragona que el resto de actores 🤣, ni siquiera te aprendes sus nombres porque pasan absolutamente por debajo de la mesa 🤷🏻‍♀️, y habría sido interesante ver qué ocurría afuera mientras Elodie luchaba por su vida. Finalmente, ¿qué onda con el cabello de Elodie?, de verdad pasé toda la película esperando el momento en que ocurriera algo con su cabello que nos explicara porque en los promocionales aparece con cabello largo, y al final resultó ser un momento al estilo Mulan 🤦🏻‍♀️, o sea tenías una dragona y mucho fuego, ¿y me estás diciendo que el tema del cabello fue decisión propia?, ¿Por qué?, ¿Acaso le molestaba para pelear? 🤣, o sea lo entiendo pero se pudo buscar una forma mas dramática y epica, así que queda como tercer punto negativo 🤣.

Es una película bastante entretenida, sí te mantiene pegado a la pantalla viendo cómo hará la protagonista para sobrevivir, además me parece que tiene un buen final, los verdaderos villanos acaban como deben y las dos protagonistas obtienen el final que merecen, no es perfecta y no es la mejor de su género, pero se debe aplaudir el trabajo que se realizó. Amé la película, es muy buena y la actuación de Millie Bobby Brown fue perfecta, de una chica vulnerable se transformó de forma gradual en una mujer empoderada y valiente que no necesita de nadie. La puesta en escena fue hermosa, todo sugería un cuento de hadas, el vestuario y todo el reino se sentía real, el dragón muy bien logrado y daba miedo, lucía atemorizante, hasta hubo una escena que salté de mi aiento del susto, me recordó a la serie Guerra de Tronos, pensé que Elodie se había convertido al final de la película en la madre de dragones, jajaja.

Damsel is a movie of fantastic, adventure and action genre. It is starred by Millie Bobby Brown, Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone and Brooke Carter. This movie has a duration of 110 minutes and it was release in march 8th of this year on Netflix platform.

What is this movie about? It tells the story of an obedient damsel, who accepts to get married in order to create alliances for improving her towns people lives. However, as soon as she gets married, she realizes what a big mistake she has comitted, since, her husband family has a dark plan for her first day as the new princess.

What I think about this movie? Damsel has the perfect dose of action and reflection. It is a really entertaining movie with great sets and locations. I consider Millie Bobby Brown made a great performance with her character. And the story is great, however I consider even when the idea was brilliant I think It would be great if the story would have more profound content. Another important fact about this movie it is the clear and constant reference to game of thrones, I'm not sure if it was unporpouse or not, but even the last few minutes of the story it is a clear wink to one specific moment to the penultimate GOT season.

Do I recommend this movie? Of course, it is the kind of story that is perfect to be watched with family or by your own. This movie could become in a confort movie and enjoy it with a big popcorn bowl.

Damsel es una película de género fantástico, de aventuras y acción. Está protagonizada por Millie Bobby Brown, Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone y Brooke Carter. Esta película tiene una duración de 110 minutos y se estrenó el 8 de marzo de este año en la plataforma Netflix.

¿De qué se trata esta película? Cuenta la historia de una damisela obediente, que acepta casarse con el fin de crear alianzas para mejorar la vida de la gente de su pueblo. Sin embargo, apenas se casa, se da cuenta del gran error que ha cometido, ya que la familia de su esposo tiene un oscuro plan para su primer día como nueva princesa.

My mother, who is usually only interested in Nigerian films, strongly recommended Damsel to me, and I thought to myself that there must be something truly special about it. And then, to discover that Millie Bobbie Brown played the main role, I was even more eager to see it.

The title 'Damsel' gives Brigerton vibes, and that was exactly what I was expecting. I hadn't seen the trailer and had no idea what was coming, so I was open to anything in hopes that the film would truly be something I would enjoy.

Damsel turned out to be a worthwhile film, and for reasons more than just how talented the young actress, Millie, was in the film.

A young woman agrees to marry a handsome prince -- only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive. _[Google]

The film is centred on betrayal and courage. It reflects on conflicts that cost the lives of innocent individuals and brought hurt to unsuspecting families, as well as the power we can wield when we brave daunting situations with courage.

Damsel slowly introduces its characters and develops them well enough to enable them to tell the story for themselves as the film progresses. As much as it really is just a one-hour and thirty-fifty film, it manages to allow its viewers to enjoy the available bits of the characters. The most iconic, of course, was the main character, Elodie.

Thirty minutes into the film, it feels like the usual British kind, set in the medieval times. Thereafter, things begin to switch up pretty quickly and interestingly. And then was when the real action and drama began—the emotional rollercoaster scenes. Before then, though, the film's pacing was just right and nothing short of progressive.

You'll find a talking dragon in this film. The trailer already hints at that. In a way, that mostly helps the film's story be more enjoyable. Rather than just having some girl run for her dear life from a dragon that's willing to obliterate her—which was all very thrilling to watch, actually—you get more depth by knowing the dragon's thoughts. That contributes to the entertaining side of the film.

The film takes its viewer through the journey of a young lady who is wrongly subjected to unfortunate experiences, to live in fear and survival mode, and then grows into a fierce, fearless, and brave lady who is determined to conquer and bring her family back together again.

Emotional rollercoaster because there are times when I really hoped that she didn't fall or get burned or something like that, and then there are other times that you feel empathetic for the misery of innocent lives. And then again, you feel angered by the level of betrayal you would find. All that keeps the energy of the film spontaneous in a well-written manner, and I appreciate that.

The outstanding performance in this film of Millie Bobby Brown as the main character, Elodie, wasn't anything surprising to me, as I had seen her put in as much commitment and hard work in the films before this one. She sells the film's story completely with how well she portrays her characters. Her performance was mostly the life of the film, to me.

The visual storytelling of Damsel, too, is another thing to appreciate. I didn't think anything wasn't "okay" as the CGI for the dragon, when it breathes fire, and the surroundings in the cave were just right and did the job.

Damsel is a film that just about anybody can watch and enjoy. There's nothing provoking in any way. It isn't overstretched, and it has the right pacing for most of the parts. It's something I don't mind watching more than once.

It's a very recommendable film. I rate it 8/10.

I tend to pay little attention to trending movies as sometimes it turns out to be bad, leading me to questions like who the fudge praised this? And then I comfort myself with the thought that perhaps aliens did because humans would never. But despite the hype around Netflix's ‘Damsel’ I paid attention to it, especially after seeing on the poster a stunning female lead.

The hype around this movie is definitely not fueled by aliens. I concur, it's a brilliant film. I mean look at Millie Bobby, she ate her role and left no crumbs.

There's something always exciting whenever I watch a film that portrays the medieval period. I mean those costumes taking me back in time, revealing the way of people back then, who would literally give up their lives for the sake of the kingdom. In our world today, pfft, no one would ever give up their dream or life for the benefit of any subject instead the reverse is the case.

After receiving a proposal from Queen Anabelle of Aurea, Elodie, the daughter of Lord Bayford, is compelled by her father to marry Prince Henry of Aurea. Elodie accepts the proposal which in turn will help her impoverished people.

After the marriage is carried out and her father, step mother and sister goes back home, she is requested to carry out a ritual which according to the prince is paying tribute to the ancestors.

Unbeknownst to Elodie, she is the price of a pact that was made by the king of Aurea to the dragon that lives in the cave below the mountains. The King of Aurea had entered a pact with a dragon after killing three of its offspring to give three of his daughters to it for the sake of peace between the dragon and his kingdom. Truly an eye for an eye.

To avoid sacrificing their own royal blood, the Queen made the women married to Henry take a blood oath that automatically gave them royal blood and after that is done, they are thrown into the chasm that leads to the dragon's lair.

After being thrown into the dragon's lair, Elodie has to fight for her survival as it was evident that no innocent daughter, who was thrown in the lair made it out alive.

As gripping as this film is, there is a flaw of the lead character and of course that makes it stand out because the lead character/protagonist doesn't have to be a perfect human even when fantasy is involved. The flaw I noticed is in where Elodie declines to heed to her step mother's warning after she had warned her to not go on with the wedding as she sensed something was off about the whole wedding arrangement.

I believe she refused to heed because of her loyalty to her people and probably to lead a good example to her little sister who looked up to her.

Released on March 8th, 2024, the director of this film, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, did an excellent job, and of course the writer do too as the storyline is compelling and really engaging.

If you're a fan of dark fantasies and medieval settings, you should see ‘Damsel.’

For some time now I've been liking dragons, that's why I recently watched Damsel, as I knew about its premiere.

Esta parte me causo un gran conflicto porque el Dragón como tal no es el villano de la historia si no, los mismo reyes de ese lugar que se aprovechan de los demás y engañan, causándote una gran impotencia tanto por el dragón como Elodie.

Speaking of Elodie, we can give Millie Bobby a round of applause because most of the time it's her in action in a cave with the dragon, you can say that if the acting or what's going on wasn't good it would have taken away from the movie but it has that touch you can tell it's more because of her acting, although I don't deny that at times her character was a bit inconsistent with her fits of euphoria but let's be clear...without that scripted convenience no doubt the poor girl doesn't survive.

Hablando de Elodie, podemos darle un aplauso a Millie Bobby porque la mayor parte del tiempo es ella en acción en una cueva con el dragón, se puede decir que si la actuación o lo que está sucediendo no estuviera bueno hubiera quitado la película pero tiene ese toque que se puede decir que es más por la actuación de ella, aunque no niego que a veces su personaje era un poco incoherente con sus ataques de euforia pero estemos claros…sin esa conveniencia de guion sin duda no sobrevive la pobre muchacha.

This is a movie that I don't think is the best thing to come out this month, but it is quite entertaining and more so if you like the action and fantasy theme, especially dragons. I wouldn't say it's a self conclusive movie as it can lead to a new one between the two of them, I would give it a 6/10 on a rating, but let me know what you guys think of it.

Damsel is a production released on Netflix and is now one of the top ten most watched films in Venezuela. The plot, surprisingly, is one that maintains a fantasy narrative, but not the everyday one invested in a perfect romance.

Apparently, romance no longer sells or is not Netflix's focus these days. I want to highlight the way the film keeps you attached to the production. You don't want to leave until the last scene; although, as it goes on, you expect the kingdom of the story to be destroyed, you don't expect it to be in the acquiescence of the protagonist and the antagonist.

The special effects are outstanding. They are very well produced, and most considerable are the sets that invite you to become part of Damsel's universe. One aspect that every production must now consider is the integration of the viewer with the scenes of the film. Remarkably, Damsel succeeds in doing so.

What didn't I like? Indeed, that trite message of revenge, the underdeveloped way in which the film closed, and the same trite story of the Dragon. Of course, all this is tempered by the sequence of events that occur and keep you entertained.

Damsel es una producción estrenada en Netflix y que ahora se encuentra en una de las diez películas más vistas en Venezuela. La trama, sorprendentemente, es una que mantiene un relato de fantasía, pero no el cotidiano investido de un romance perfecto.

Al parecer, el romance ya no vende o no es el objetivo de Netflix actualmente. Quiero destacar del film la manera en que te mantiene apegado a la producción. No querrás separarte hasta culminar la última escena; aunque a medida que pasa esperas que el Reino de la historia sea destruido, no esperas que sea en anuencia de la protagonista y el antagonista.

Los efectos especiales son destacables. Están muy bien producidos y lo más considerable son los escenarios que te invitan a formar parte del universo de Damsel. Un aspecto que toda producción debe considerar ahora es la integración del espectador con las escenas del film. Destacablemente Damsel logra hacerlo.

¿Qué no me gustó? En efecto, ése mensaje trillado de la venganza, la manera poco desarrollada en que cerró el film y la misma historia trillada del Dragon. Claro, todo esto se ve apaciguado por la secuencia de los hechos que ocurren y te mantienen entretenido.

The costumes are something that should also be highlighted. The clothes identify very well each of the characters, their social status and their relevance in the plot. The costumes, for example, of the kings, exude grandeur and importance. You'll know who they are just by looking at them, despite their small part in the film.

The adaptation of the dragon is remarkable; it is very well done, and the way the dragon uses its powers shows good craftsmanship. However, you notice that the dragon has a certain resemblance to a lion. I didn't like that very much.

Damsel is a film that glimpses a dark fantasy; at the beginning, everything is beautiful, and then it becomes a struggle for the protagonist to survive.

El vestuario es algo que se debe destacar también. Las prendas identifican muy bien a cada uno de los personajes, su condición social y su relevancia en la trama. El vestuario, por ejemplo, de los reyes, emana grandeza e importancia. Sabrás quienes son sólo con verlos a pesar de su poca participación en el film.

La adaptación del dragón es notable, está muy bien hecha y la manera en que este utiliza sus poderes demuestra una buena elaboración. Sin embargo, notas que el dragón tiene cierto parecido a un león. Eso no me gustó mucho.

Damsel es una película que vislumbra una fantasía oscura; al principio todo es hermoso y luego se convierte en una lucha por parte de la protagonista para poder sobrevivir.

Deception is a notable feature of the plot, but you don't understand what kind or type it is. Everything is kept in deep secrecy. The plot sends a message about the value of women in medieval worlds and the way most were sold. Coincidentally, Elodie was sold by her father for a few gold coins to save her people from winter. You know the business of nobility.

The kingdom of Aurean is aesthetically beautiful and flawless, but it has a dark tradition. We would call that the cult of, a dark sect capable of malevolently killing anyone to maintain its power over all things.

El engaño es algo notable en la trama, pero no entiendes de qué clase o tipo es. Todo se mantiene en un hermetismo profundo. La trama envía un mensaje sobre el valor de las mujeres en los mundos medievales y la manera en que la mayoría era vendida. Casualmente, Elodie fue vendida por su padre por unas cuantas monedas de oro para salvar a su pueblo del invierno. Ya saben asuntos de la nobleza.

The film features the performance of actor Nick Robinson as Prince Henry. I didn't particularly expect to see him acting here. He has acted in notable productions such as Everything, Everything, The 5th Wave and Love, Simon. Actor Nick Robinson's role is remarkable, but it also invests a lot of falsehood, ego, and a bit of evil that grows little by little. After all, the Prince Henry that Nick Robinson plays is the person who sends the protagonist to her death.

I really liked Millie Bobby Brown's performance as Elodie. A woman is capable of fighting hard enough to survive. It's remarkable that she won't let herself decay or be entangled according to the designs of the Aurean people.

The plot has several important messages. Betrayal is something that can always happen to anyone. Human life is the most important thing, and until it is over, you must not stop fighting for it. Elodie does that in the film until the end.

Another essential message is about fathers. In the plot, Elodie's father makes a mistake, but he seeks to make up for it. The way he does it stand out and gives the story an emotional message about the value of family.

Finally, I must point out that Damsel is a film that involves you little by little, the reason is due to the plot where Elodie must avoid being killed by a beast locked in the nearby mountains of the Kingdom of Aurean. It intrigues you, involves you and makes you feel adrenaline, but is diluted with a poorly crafted ending.

En el film destaca la actuación del actor Nick Robinson como el Prince Henry. En lo particular no esperaba verlo actuando acá. Él ha actuado en producciones notables como Everything, Everything, The 5th Wave y Love, Simon. El papel del actor Nick Robinson es notable, pero también inviste mucha falsedad, ego y una maldad pequeña que crece poco a poco. Después de todo, el Prince Henry que Nick Robinson interpreta es la persona que envía a morir a la protagonista.

Otro mensaje destacable está referido a los padres. En la trama el padre de Elodie se equivoca, pero busca resarcir su error. La manera en que lo hace destaca y hace que la historia tenga un mensaje emotivo sobre el valor de la familia.

Finalmente, debo indicar que Damsel es un film que te envuelve poco a poco, la razón es debido al argumento donde Elodie debe evitar ser asesinada por una bestia encerrada en las cercanas montañas del Reino de Aurean. Te intriga, te envuelve y te hace sentir adrenalina, pero se diluye con un final poco elaborado.

Cuando se dio a conocer que saldría esta película no les voy a negar que la curiosidad me llamó porque, además de Enola Holmes, volveríamos a ver otro rol protagónico de Millie Bobby, obviando claro está lo hecho por ella en Stranger Things. Siento que las personas se crean unas expectativas muy altas con respecto a ella ya que para mi sigue sin demostrar esos grandes dotes en la actuación, no es mala actriz pero el camino para ella es largo y esto me lo demostró bastante en este film. Una película más de heroínas, princesas, reinos y dragones en donde a pesar de que la historia sea un tanto diferente no deja de ser genérica y cliché.

When it was announced that this film would be released I will not deny that I was curious because, in addition to Enola Holmes, we would see another leading role of Millie Bobby, obviating of course what she did in Stranger Things. I feel that people create very high expectations for her because for me she still does not show those great acting skills, she is not a bad actress but she has a long way to go and she showed it to me in this film. One more movie of heroines, princesses, kingdoms and dragons where even though the story is a little different, it is still generic and cliché.

La historia comienza con Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown), una joven y bella damisela que vive en los confines de un reino en donde todo parece ser tranquilo pero precario. Un buen día recibe la propuesta para casarse con el príncipe de dicho reino, un matrimonio que supondría muchos beneficios para su pueblo el cual los necesita en cantidades industriales. Aún con dudas decide acatar lo que su papá decidió por ella porque si, fue su padre el que consumió todo esto, y viajan hasta el castillo de los gobernantes para concretar la tan ansiada boda. Pero hay algo raro, hay algo que ronda aquel lugar que no inspira confianza y pronto descubrirán que es.

Resulta que detrás de aquella familia real existe una historia que se remonta siglos atrás que tiene que ver con dragones y la realeza de aquellos tiempos. Es una trama oscura y llena de misterios, así como aquel matrimonio al que Elodie ya es parte. El tema es que hay una deuda pendiente y que necesita ser saldada y la única forma de hacerlo es a través de un sacrificio por lo que adivinen quien es la elegida para dicho tributo? - en efecto, nuestra joven princesa. Esta familia decide lanzarla a los confines de una cueva la cual es habitada por dicho dragón para buscar pagar lo que se debe. Es acá entonces cuando veremos a Elodie usar fuerza e ingenio para tratar de salir de allí y cobrar justicia.

It turns out that behind that royal family there is a story that goes back centuries that has to do with dragons and the royalty of those times. It is a dark plot and full of mysteries, as well as that marriage to which Elodie is already part of. The point is that there is an outstanding debt that needs to be settled and the only way to do it is through a sacrifice, so guess who is the one chosen for the tribute? - In fact, our young princess. This family decides to throw her into the confines of a cave which is inhabited by said dragon to seek to pay what is owed. It is here that we will see Elodie use strength and ingenuity to try to get out of there and collect justice.

Lo primero a decir y qué fue lo que más me llamó la atención fue todo el tema de los efectos visuales. De las cosas más criticables que siempre tiene el cine es el tema del CGI, cuando este no es empleado de buena forma el resultado es nefasto. Aquí hay que decir que no fue el caso, la verdad es que la película se ve espectacular y sobretodo el dragón, es un trabajo muy parecido a lo visto tanto en GOT como en House of the Dragon. Todas las escenas, o por lo menos la mayoría, cumplieron decentemente con los efectos. Quizás en partes cuando este dragón escupía fuego se podían ver algunas distorsiones pero al final creo que es un trabajo, para ser la película que es, muy aceptable.

The first thing that caught my attention was the visual effects. One of the most criticized things in cinema is the CGI, when this is not used in a good way the result is disastrous. Here it must be said that this was not the case, the truth is that the film looks spectacular and especially the dragon, is a work very similar to what was seen in both GOT and House of the Dragon. All the scenes, or at least most of them, complied decently with the effects. Maybe in parts when this dragon was spitting fire you could see some distortions but in the end I think it's a very acceptable job for the movie it is.

A nivel de trama como ya dije es un tanto diferente porque no es la típica historia de la princesa inútil, acá vemos cierto empoderamiento femenino pero sin ser algo molesto como en otros casos. En lo personal no me aburrí en ningún momento, al contrario, es una trama que te mantiene a la expectativa siempre, es algo muy distinto a lo que esperaba. Si que es verdad que me pareció un tanto cursi en algunos pasajes, es muy fácil caer en los clichés de siempre y acá eso se ve, poco pero se ve. A pesar de que te mantiene expectante para mi estas historias son muy predecibles, todas terminan casi de igual manera por lo que el encanto lo pierde un poco.

As I said before, the plot is a little different because it is not the typical story of the useless princess, here we see some female empowerment but without being something annoying as in other cases. Personally I was not bored at any time, on the contrary, it is a plot that keeps you always waiting, it is something very different from what I expected. It is true that I found it a bit cheesy in some passages, it is very easy to fall into the usual clichés and here you can see that, a little but you can see it. Although it keeps you expectant for me these stories are very predictable, all end almost the same way so the charm loses a little.

Vestuario, las pocas locaciones que hayan usado y todo lo que tiene que ver con lo que se percibe en pantalla, vuelvo y repito, estuvieron muy bien logradas. Lo que no estuvo tan bien conseguido fue la actuación de Millie. Hay algo en ella que no me termina de convencer como actriz, nunca conectas con el personaje, a veces la veo muy forzada y artificial; no se si le falta madurar en la profesión o es que tenemos a Eleven todavía muy presente. Por otro lado, Robin Wright (la Reina Isabel) si me gustó, buena antagonista, creo que fue la contraparte perfecta para balancear un poco la tibia actuación de Millie.

Costumes, the few locations used and everything that has to do with what is perceived on screen, again and again, were very well done. What was not so well achieved was Millie's performance. There is something about her that does not convince me as an actress, you never connect with the character, sometimes I see her very forced and artificial; I do not know if she has not matured in the profession or is that we have Eleven still very present. On the other hand, Robin Wright (Queen Elizabeth) if I liked, good antagonist, I think she was the perfect counterpart to balance a little bit Millie's lukewarm performance.

En fin, le doy un 6.5/10. No me gustó la actuación de Bobby Brown, es una historia más del montón de princesas y reinos mágicos y que hay ciertas escenas muy cursis y cliché que más que quedar épicas a mi me molestaron un poco. Lo bueno es todo lo visual y el CGI. Es entretenida y perfecta para pasar el rato pero hasta ahí. La tienen en Netflix y dura poco menos de dos horas. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.

Anyway, I give it a 6.5/10. I didn't like Bobby Brown's performance, it's just another story about princesses and magical kingdoms and there are some very cheesy and cliché scenes that more than being epic, they bothered me a little. The good thing is all the visuals and CGI. It's entertaining and perfect for hanging out but that's as far as it goes. It's available on Netflix and it's just under two hours long. Everyone detests betrayal yet it's rampant among peasants and royals alike!

A young girl, Elodie (played by Millie Bobby Brown), travels by sea to a faraway land to marry Prince Henry of Aurea. After the ceremony, they join their hands in a blood oath and thereafter, he apologises before tossing her like a doll into a dark chasm that harbours a fearsome creature. A dragon. Will Elodie survive the attacks from the dragon? Why did the Prince and people of Aurea betray this young princess?

It's a fairytale, yet it's not. The opening voiceover by Millie Bobby Brown says:

There are many stories of chivalry where the heroic knight saves the damsel in distress. This is not one of them!

Damsel (2024) is an epic, dark fantasy and definitely worth watching for those into this genre. It's unique in the sense that we expect the commoner-crowned-princess to fall in love with the prince, and they live happily ever after, just like in fairytales. Sadly, it's not so and this takes the audience by surprise.

I applaud the minds behind this film because the plot is brilliant; it's not cliché like some dark romances. The storytelling is intriguing and exciting. The writer, Dan Mazeau, makes a complete opposite version of what we are familiar with, telling us all that glitters is not gold. The prince doesn't get the damsel and they don't live happily ever after. The damsel is distressed but saves herself rather than wait for Prince Charming or a knight in shining armour. The horrible beast doesn't eat or kill the damsel, instead she conquers the beast!

As the theme of betrayal marks the beginning of the film, the core of the story becomes the connection that develops between Elodie and the dragon. Their clash of wills, determination and anger reveals that their stories are similar and heartbreaking. Once they find that connection, they become unstoppable, making the last scene admirable.

Ever since her fantastic performance in Eniola Holmes 1 and 2, I promised myself never to miss any of Millie Bobby Brown's movies because she has great acting skills. In this epic film, she embodies her character with such finesse that you'll forget it's fictional. As Elodie, she's brave, daring and smart. At first, she's this young lady with dreams of adventure and love but when faced with reality, she buckles up and fights for her life and family.

The supporting cast performed admirably too, especially Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice as the dragon. Unlike the baritone voices of the dragons featured in Merlin and The Hobbit trilogy, hers is calm and drawling, if that makes sense.

I was happy to see Angela Bassett in a supporting role. Though her screen time is little, her acting is great as always and her impact felt in the narrative. And Robin Wright is never shy to act as the bad queen!

Another impressive part of this dark fantasy is the dragon's cave. It's dark with many nooks and crannies, names of pasts damsels who didn't survive the dragon scratched on the wall to create the omnious and spooky feeling. Also, there are glowworms! (You'll have to see the film to understand my exclamation here). That was unexpected. The cave is a deathtrap possessing healing properties as well.

One part of the film I would fault though is the cinematography and editing. They are okay but in some scenes, they slip up and it's awkward. This is more obvious in the scene where the villains are taken out. It's sudden and unrealistic. When faced with a fire-breathing dragon, I would run for my dear life but these villains stood and watched as the fire rained on them. That's just unreal and the CGI in the scene was terribly done.

Overall, Damsel is an enjoyable, fantasy adventure that will take you by surprise. It reminds us that villains are easily misunderstood and may have a reason why they do terrible things. It's worth watching again and again. I'll give it 3.9 stars out of 5 because of the CGI slips.

Recién llegada a la plataforma de Netflix vemos a Millie Bobby Brown la protagonista de stranger things en un papel y un rol bastante diferente a lo que lo hemos visto últimamente, yo debo confesar que soy muy fan de esta actriz desde que la vi en la afamada serie de stranger things y ha seguido su carrera y he visto Muchas de sus películas y la verdad es que su actuación me encanta y no me he sentido decepcionada hasta ahora en ninguna de las películas que he podido ver e interpretar un papel.

Damsel es una película que está inventada en un reino muy muy lejano y aunque tome elementos típicos de las películas de princesas como los castillos los reinos y toda la alta sociedad también viene a traernos algo nuevo y algo refrescante ya que esta no es la típica princesa, por el contrario es valiente atrevida y se enfrenta a los retos que le impone la vida.

Damsel is a movie that is invented in a kingdom far far away and although it takes typical elements of princess movies such as castles, kingdoms and all the high society also comes to bring us something new and refreshing because this is not the typical princess, on the contrary, she is brave, daring and faces the challenges that life imposes on her.

Me parece que uno de los puntos más fuertes de estas películas es la fotografía es muy bonita y está muy bien pulida y a pesar de un ser una película para el streaming reconozco que sus efectos especiales están muy bien llevados creo que el único punto de declive o el mayor punto de equilibrio mejor dicho el hecho de que hasta cierto.

La película cae mucho cliché ya sabes lo que va a venir y entonces digamos que ese punto de sorpresa se pierde un poco más sin embargo no deja de ser una película muy entretenida y que trae un aire fresco en cuanto a estas historias de príncipes princesas y reinos muy muy lejanos.

I can't listen to/watch real life stories to get away from real life, but productions based on a non-existent universe or life have managed to attract my attention more at such times.

Damsel, one of Netflix's new productions this year, features the aforementioned fantasy world and fantastic characters. For me, I think it is one of the good choices of the day because it breaks all your ties with real life while watching it. I admit that this is what I was looking for.

Set in a fantasy world, the story brings together princes and princesses from different kingdoms. Even though all the princesses gather for the same reason, the main theme of the movie is the plot that takes place unaware of each other's existence. I have a negative perception of accepting everything that happens in an unreal world in advance. That's why I don't have any expectations towards sci-fi and fantasy genre productions, I accept everything in the story and I know that this acceptance causes me to lose my critical point of view.

Damsel is not like the usual prince and princess stories, on the contrary, a strong princess character who takes care of her own affairs is shouldering the entire burden of the movie alone. As in all fantasy movies, the conflicts between good and evil are among the most important elements that embellish the movie.

In general, the movie is quite enjoyable to watch, the story is gripping and the flow is successfully ensured. If there had been a little more action scenes after the truth was revealed in the story based on lies, I would have used the word "excellent" for the movie without hesitation.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the character of Princess Elodie, gave an eye-catching performance as the strong character I mentioned. Although she struggles to save her life when all her hopes are crushed, she starts to climb to the top at the lowest point. Her successful performance as both a princess and a warrior was one of the most enjoyable moments of the movie.

You know the well-known stories where knights or princes rescue princesses. The movie Damsel is not one of them, and it bases the whole story on a strong female character. I think that's the most important benefit of the movie and that it fits perfectly in a fantasy movie.

The presence of a fantastic monster like a dragon adds extra value to the movie, while the harmonious connection between the story and the monster is due to the success of the script. I liked the movie Damsel and I highly recommend watching it. The movie is suitable for all kinds of viewers, the story progresses flawlessly and draws the viewer in.
