1. ›Haunted Mansion|| A Churn of Consternation And Comedy.@wongi966d

   One of my favourite combinations when it comes to movie genres are comedy and horror in a swirl. Some horror movies are comical enough in my eyes but when the script writers consciously add comical scenes, then it makes everything beautiful and magical.

   

   Source Haunted Mansion is one of such movies and so you can guess how much I enjoyed seeing this movie. After seeing the movie, I went to do a little genre background check just so I was clear. It would have been preposterous if comedy wasn't part of the genre.

   I cannot remember the last time I actually saw a movie with this combination but after seeing Haunted mansion, I came to a conclusion that I had spent two hours of my time judiciously.

   About The Movie.

   Haunted Mansion is a supernatural horror comedy film, directed by Justin Sinein. This movie captures the attention of the viewers with a puzzling and certainly terrifying opening scene. It leaves many questions on the minds of the viewers just like every good horror movie should.

   In the movie, a woman and her son beckon on a versatile crew of self acclaimed spiritual experts to help
   rid her home of spiritual inhabitants. The spiritual experts are from diverse walks of life.

   The self acclaimed experts swoop into the haunted mansion not paying heed to what they were getting themselves too. Just like every other movie, they all thought the haunted mansion was a joke that a middle aged single parent came up with. Their coming together to proffer a solution was the highlight of the movie.

   Cast

   There weren't a great number of characters in this movie, making it easier for viewers to keep their attention on what mattered the most.

   Lakeith Stanfield as Ben Matthias

   Lakeith Stanfield played the role of an unhappy man. Right from the very first scene he appeared in, one could tell that he was a troubled soul. This was due to the fact that his fiancee died after he proposed to her. He had planned a very beautiful life for the both of them but after her loss, nothing made sense anymore.

   He didn't believe in supernatural forces and to prove this, he got a special camera that could only capture ghosts and things of that sort. For years the camera wasn't put to use because he probably wasn't looking in the right places but soon enough, he needed the camera like a fish would water.

   Ben acted out his role beautifully and for that, I wouldn't hold back the accolades he earned. He played a major role in the movie and I'm sure the director was pleased with his performance.

   Rosario Dawson as Gabbie

   

   Gabbie was a single mom who never asked to be a single mother. Her husband passed away and she wanted a fresh start. Her yearning for a fresh start led her to buy a mansion far away from where they originally lived.

   This mansion had underlying history and ninety-nine plus one ghost inhabitant. These ghosts were held there for many years against their wish and so they made living in the mansion unbearable for those alive.

   One would say, "why not just leave the mansion?" Well, the tricky part was that once you step foot inside the mansion, there is not turning back. You were automatically added to the " to be haunted" list.

   Gabbie was a jovial character who still stood strong amidst all the turbulence she had and was currently through. A very admirable character I must say.

   Chase Dillon as Travis.

   

   Travis was Gabbie's only son. Travis missed having the presence of a dad in his life and so he was very susceptible. Along the line, he was used as a pawn but luckily for him, he was a smart young boy.

   Travis contributed to the comic part of this movie with his ignorance and utter naiveness in certain situations. His facial expressions and reactions were all so hilarious.

   Tiffany Haddish as Harriet

   

   Tiffany Haddish is one character that I've seen playing the supernatural role prior to this movie. When I saw her in this movie, I knew that she was going to ace it. She is one character that knows her onions.

   Harriet was a supernatural psychic of some sort who could communicate with spirits. She was brought in to aid the communication between the living and the dead inhabitants of the mansion. Did she intercede properly? Only one way to find out.

   My Opinion.

   

   The first thing I would say about the movie is that it was a great comic relief. The way the characters said hilarious things with mundane facial expressions made it really satirical. And the ghost? The ghosts were amazing! A majority of the ghosts were good but slow-witted.

   One of the numerous favourite scenes of mine was when the priest was asked to mislead the ghosts. A priest is supposed to be all powerful but this particular priest barely knew how to say a prayer. So instead of praying, he decided to try psychology on the ghosts. Of course, it didn't end well, hehe.

   The screenplay was nice. The soundtrack and every other thing was at a normal proportion. Most of the scenes were filmed at night(in darkness) so there weren't any visible or glaring mistakes.

   Recommendation.

   

   I would soulfully recommend this movie to everyone. If you're not up for the horror, then, you would definitely be up for the comedy. It was two hours of entertainment for me and I'm certain it would be the same for you if you give it a try.

   I just saw "Haunted Mansion", the most recent film adaptation of the Walt Disney theme park attraction, a film that has a couple of virtues and a couple of defects but that in general knows how to give us an entertaining experience, although obviously we would like to something more considering the potential of the idea.

   No wonder, let's remember that a couple of years ago Pirates of the Caribbean was also considered little more than an adaptation of a park attraction and went on to become one of the biggest franchises of the century, setting a precedent that unfortunately Disney did not. has been able to replicate within all these years.

   

   

   They had already tried to make this same idea work in 2003 with another film of the same name, which, although it did not represent an unreasonable success for the company, at least managed to recover everything invested at the box office, and, honestly, had a much more tone. immature and humorous, but much more appropriate and easy to digest, something supported by the imposing presence of an Eddy Murphy at the peak of his career.

   Haunted Mansion (2023) emerges in a very different panorama, with much higher expectations and a casting full of stars such as Danny DeVito, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson and Owen Wilson, who to no one's surprise end up being the most interesting from the film directed by Justin Simien.

   And although there are many good ideas on paper, we regret that the execution of most of them is not very good: Haunted Mansion fails as a horror film, as a drama and as a light comedy.

   The reason? Despite its two-hour duration, the large number of characters that parade on the screen ends up being counterproductive, limiting the time we spend with each of them and causing any of their characteristics or backstories to pass without pain or glory, something that It certainly doesn't work in the film's favor when it comes to creating moments of emotion or sadness.

   Haunted Mansion works as a sequence of gags and ideas that in isolation make sense but that come and go without taking the necessary time to generate any kind of impact, almost as if they were the fulfillment of a series of requirements necessary to release a blockbuster. modern forward.

   From the death of Travis' father to the fact that Kent is not a real exorcist, they are narrative details that (if we think about it with a little cynicism) are unimportant in the plot, but that if implemented well could have elevated it to another level.

   

   

   

   Does this mean that it is an unbearable film? Not at all, Haunted Mansion is still very entertaining and as I said previously, this is possible thanks to the large number of iconic actors we have behind us, all very capable of doing wonders with a mediocre script. Besides, it is very correct technically and has a couple of solid musical moments.

   It's a Halloween movie suitable for the whole family and little else.

   No es para poco, recordemos que hace un par de años Pirates of the Caribbean también era considerado poco más que una adaptación de una atracción de parque y llegó a convertirse en una de las franquicias más grandes del siglo, sentando un precedente que lastimosamente Disney no ha podido replicar dentro de todos estos años.

   

   

   Ya habían intentado hacer funcionar esta misma idea en 2003 con otra película del mismo nombre, que, si bien no representó un éxito desmedido para la compañía, al menos logró recuperar todo lo invertido en taquilla, y, honestamente, contaba con un tono mucho más inmaduro y humorístico, pero mucho más adecuado y fácil de digerir, algo apoyado por la imponente presencia de un Eddy Murphy en la cúspide de su carrera.

   Haunted Mansion (2023) surge en un panorama muy distinto, con expectativas mucho más altas y un casting plagado de estrellas como Danny DeVito, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson y Owen Wilson, quienes para sorpresa de nadie terminan siendo lo más interesante del filme dirigido por Justin Simien.

   Y es que aunque hay muchas buenas ideas en papel, lamentamos que la ejecución de la mayoría de estas no resulta muy buena: Haunted Mansion fracasa como una película de terror, como un drama y como una comedia ligera.

   ¿La razón? A pesar de sus dos horas de duración, la gran cantidad de personajes que van desfilando en pantalla termina siendo contraproducente, limitando el tiempo que convivimos con cada uno de ellos y haciendo que cualquiera de sus características o backstories pasen sin pena ni gloria, algo que sin duda no juega a favor de la película cuando se trata de crear momentos de emoción o tristeza.

   Haunted Mansion funciona como una secuencia de gags e ideas que de forma aislada tienen sentido pero que llegan y se van sin tomarse el tiempo necesario para generar cualquier clase de impacto, casi como si fuesen el cumplimiento de una serie de requisitos necesarios para sacar un blockbuster moderno adelante.

   Desde la muerte del padre de Travis hasta el hecho de que Kent no es un exorcista real, son detalles narrativos que (si lo pensamos con un poco de cinismo) carecen de importancia en la trama, pero que bien implementados podrían haberla elevado a otro nivel.

   

   

   

   ¿Esto quiere decir que es una película insoportable? Para nada, Haunted Mansion sigue siendo muy entretenida y como dije previamente, esto es posible gracias a la gran cantidad de actores iconicos que tenemos detrás, todos muy capaces de hacer maravillas con un guión mediocre. Aparte, es muy correcta técnicamente y tiene un par de momentos musicales sólidos.

   Es una película de Halloween adecuada para toda la familia y poco más.

   Hace 20 años más o menos Eddie Murphy, un trabajador de bienes raíces, junto a su familia nos mostraron en la película del mismo nombre que esta una mansión la cual estaba habitada por fantasmas, aquella era un film lleno de comedia con unos tintes de terror. En este 2023 Disney volvió a aplicar la formula de traer antiguos títulos y hacerles un refrescamiento con la finalidad de revivir, supongo yo, películas que en su momento fueron bastantes buenas. Honestamente estaba muy renuente con ver este film por todo lo que significa Disney hoy en día, son muchas decisiones que han tomado que me han hecho apartarme un poco de una marca que en mi infancia fue un pilar de entretenimiento para mi.

   About 20 years ago Eddie Murphy, a real estate worker, along with his family showed us in the movie of the same name a mansion which was inhabited by ghosts, that was a film full of comedy with some horror overtones. In this 2023 Disney applied again the formula of bringing back old titles and refreshing them in order to revive, I guess, movies that were pretty good at the time. Honestly I was very reluctant to see this film because of all that Disney means today, there are many decisions they have made that have made me move away a little from a brand that in my childhood was a pillar of entertainment for me.

   Pero entonces cuando leo un poco más acerca de esta película noto algo que me llama la atención y es el gran elenco que tiene, de verdad tiene muy buenos actores y en el fondo dije que algo cool tiene que tener el film con toda esta gente actuando. El tema y la clave principal acá es que sepas a lo que vas, no puedes comenzar a ver la película pensando que vas a ver un film puro y duro de terror, lleno de gore y suspenso, no no, nada de eso, Disney no es así. Estamos ante una comedia, evidentemente, la cual está acompañada con unos toques de terror, sustos y unos muy buenos efectos visuales; todo para ser disfrutado en familia, porque estoy seguro que esa es la intención máxima de Disney. Así que sin más, hablemos un poco de que va esta nueva adaptación.

   But then when I read a little more about this movie I notice something that catches my attention and it is the great cast it has, it really has very good actors and deep down I said that something cool has to be in the film with all these people acting. The theme and the main key here is that you know what you are going for, you can't start watching the film thinking that you are going to see a pure and hard horror film, full of gore and suspense, no no, nothing like that, Disney is not like that. We are facing a comedy, obviously, which is accompanied with a few touches of horror, scares and some very good visual effects; all to be enjoyed with the family, because I'm sure that is Disney's maximum intention. So without further ado, let's talk a little bit about this new adaptation.

   Esta nueva historia comienza con Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) y su hijo quienes se mudan a una mansión de la que poco se sabe, es la típica mansión inmensa abandonada de madera que le cruje cada metro cuadrado. Es complicado imaginarse que eso suceda realmente pero nada, estamos dentro los clichés de estas películas. La cosa es que apenas al llegar y tratar de acomodarse para pasar la primera noche en ella empiezan a pasar cosas raras siendo Travis, el niño, el primero en darse cuenta. Sin pensarlo huyen de inmediato pero este lugar tiene una particularidad y que estés donde estés sus fantasmas te van a perseguir hasta que regreses a aquella casa.

   This new story begins with Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) and her son who move into a mansion of which little is known, it is the typical huge abandoned wooden mansion that creaks every square meter. It's hard to imagine it actually happening, but nothing, we are in the clichés of these movies. The thing is that as soon as they arrive and try to settle in to spend the first night there, strange things start to happen and Travis, the boy, is the first to notice. Without thinking they flee immediately but this place has a particularity and that wherever you are their ghosts will haunt you until you return to that house.

   Ante la desesperación de la madre e hijo esta decide contactar a un grupo de "expertos" bastante variado y peculiar para que la ayuden a salir de la gran cantidad de ánimas y espectros que hacen "vida" en aquella mansión. Una vez todos allí se dan cuenta que el problema real es un ente maligno que no deja en paz a nadie, ni a los vivos ni a los muertos, siendo ahí donde deberán enfocarse para solucionar todo. Pero hay un detalle y es que la muerte está muy presente y acechando a todos en la mansión, tienen que lograr el cometido antes de una fecha limite porque sino una desgracia puede ocurrir. Es entonces donde veremos lo que serán capaces de estas personas para intentar ayudar a Gabbie y que este mal salga de una vez por todas de la casa.

   In desperation, the mother and son decide to contact a group of "experts" quite varied and peculiar to help her get out of the large number of spirits and specters that make "life" in that mansion. Once they are all there, they realize that the real problem is an evil entity that leaves no one alone, neither the living nor the dead, and that is where they must focus to solve everything. But there is a detail and that is that death is very present and stalking everyone in the mansion, they have to achieve the task before a deadline because otherwise a misfortune can happen. It is then where we will see what these people will be able to do to try to help Gabbie and get this evil out of the house once and for all.

   Como ya dije en el principio hay que estar muy claros con lo que se va a ver para que después no hayan decepciones. He leído criticas, a veces lo hago, y la que más se repite es que le faltó ser más terrorífica, que fuese capaz de impartir más miedo y es entonces donde me pregunto, acaso no están viendo quien está detrás de este film? - Disney no se va a arriesgar, básicamente porque no es su línea, a hacer algo más pesado, para eso hay otros títulos por ahí. Sabiendo esto tienen que entender que estamos ante una película netamente familiar, con un terror muy amigable, aprecio que en al algunos casos hayan querido subir la vara y hacer a los fantasmas algo espeluznantes, pero que al final de cuentas es una película para que sea disfrutada y porque no, para reírte un rato.

   As I said at the beginning, you have to be very clear about what you are going to see so that you won't be disappointed. I have read reviews, sometimes I do, and the most repeated one is that it lacked to be more terrifying, to be able to impart more fear and that's when I ask myself, are you not seeing who is behind this film? - Disney is not going to risk, basically because it is not their line, to make something heavier, for that there are other titles out there. Knowing this you have to understand that this is a purely family movie, with a very friendly horror, I appreciate that in some cases they wanted to raise the bar and make the ghosts a little creepy, but at the end of the day it is a movie to be enjoyed and why not, to laugh for a while.

   Algo que me sorprendió fue todo lo que tiene que ver con lo visual, efectos especiales, CGI, etc. Para ser una película de estas características por lo menos bajo mi opinión creo que estuvo muy bien logrado todo esto, hay mucho juego en varias escenas en donde se nota este trabajo, se maneja mucho la alteración del espacio, por ejemplo, estás en un pasillo y este comienza a moverse y suelos y paredes cambian de posición; todos estos detalles hicieron que la experiencia fuera agradable, hace que ver el film no sea algo aburrido. Los fantasmas y sus apariencias, todo lo que a ellos rodea, son cosas que estuvieron correctas muy para mi sorpresa. La verdad esperaba algo de mucha menos calidad pero visualmente no fue el caso.

   Something that surprised me was everything that has to do with visuals, special effects, CGI, etc. For a film of these characteristics at least in my opinion I think it was very well done all this, there is much play in several scenes where this work is noticeable, the alteration of space is handled much, for example, you are in a hallway and it begins to move and floors and walls change position; all these details made the experience enjoyable, makes watching the film is not something boring. The ghosts and their appearances, everything that surrounds them, are things that were correct much to my surprise. I was expecting something of much lesser quality but visually this was not the case.

   Pero lo que verdaderamente es el gran valor agregado de esto es el cast. Los personajes son muy diferentes pero cada uno tiene una esencia diferente. Actores como Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto y por ahí en un pequeño rol aparece Winona Ryder conforman un muy elenco. Hay que mencionar también a Lakeith Stanfield quien es Ben Matthias, el fotógrafo/científico, a Tiffany Haddish quien es la médium y a Chase Dilon quien hace del hijo de Gabbie. Honestamente todos hicieron una buena interpretación de sus personajes. Me gustó mucho el niño, de verdad lo suelto que se le vio es sorprendente y DeVito siempre es gracioso y da gusto verlo. Es imposible que no quieras ver el film con todos los nombres que tiene, creo que vale la pena sentarse las dos horas para disfrutar un poco.

   But what is really the great added value of this is the cast. The characters are very different but each one has a different essence. Actors like Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto and a small role for Winona Ryder make up a great cast. We must also mention Lakeith Stanfield who is Ben Matthias, the photographer/scientist, Tiffany Haddish who is the medium and Chase Dilon who plays Gabbie's son. Honestly they all gave good performances of their characters. I really liked the kid, really how loose he came across is amazing and DeVito is always funny and a joy to watch. It's impossible not to want to watch the film with all the names in it, I think it's worth sitting through the two hours to enjoy it a bit.

   Un 7/10 de mi parte porque aunque se que la película no es mala, no es para mi. La vi sin problemas y la disfruté pero es una temática que no va conmigo. Tiene buenos efectos, las actuaciones están bien, la historia es simple pero tampoco hace falta tener algo más elaborado, por lo menos no en este film. No hay sustos ni un terror maléfico, se aprecia el intento pero no sale de ahí, de un simple intento. Está en Disney+ y dura dos horas. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo para que le echen un vistazo.

   A 7/10 from me because even though I know the movie is not bad, it's not for me. I saw it without problems and I enjoyed it but it is a theme that does not go with me. It has good effects, the performances are fine, the story is simple but there is no need to have something more elaborate, at least not in this film. There are no scares or evil terror, the attempt is appreciated but it doesn't go beyond that, a simple attempt. It's on Disney+ and it's two hours long. 4. ›'Haunted Mansion' by Justin Simien Review: It could've been worse, also could've been better@namiks995d

   

   There's a part of me that really misses the era of Disney when they would make relatively short, fun family films (that alliteration wasn't intentional). Some of the films I have enjoyed the most from Disney barely clock in at around the 90 minute mark. These films would be full of adventure, simple stories and a relatively small cast. Yet each one felt different from the last. These days, I can't help but feel that giants such as Disney can't help themselves but flesh out films in attempt to please both shareholders in regards to their cash burn, as well as justify any streaming cost increases to the consumer. After all, the argument to both is that things epic and good cost money, both sides need to pay up if they want more of it.

   To defend Disney, they are far from the only ones doing this. Pretty much every streaming service is bloating out films in attempt to rinse the shareholder and the consumer as prices increase every few months whether you watch them or not. Now, in regards to Haunted Mansion, this is a remake of a 2003, relatively short, film of a similar name: The Haunted Mansion. Both of which are based apparently on a Disney attraction named, you guessed it: Haunted House. I did see the 2003 film back when it released, I believe I still have the DVD from that time. I saw it a few times and never really thought a whole lot of it, but it was a fun film to watch to get into the Halloween mood during October. To look at the 2003 release and to compare it to this new 2023 release probably isn't fair given how vastly different they are, so if you ever saw that film, I guess don't quite assume it has much relation to this one.

   At first, I wasn't even sure if they were related at all as I started watching, but I kept looking back at that 2003 title and trying remember it. Though, from what I remember, it just was mediocre at best. Anyway, keep in mind that there will be spoilers here. If you want to see this film, perhaps read this after you have seen it.

   Haunted Mansion

   

   I haven't really heard of director Justin Simien, but I glanced over his IMDb page and did see a few titles I recognised. Though, I haven't seen them, I admit. So going into Haunted Mansion was my first introduction to his capabilities as a director. And I have to say, one of the first things I noticed with Haunted Mansion was that it really did look good for a Disney+ title. In terms of lighting and cinematography, it's a very dark, but well-lit film. It certainly managed to capture the fun atmosphere of a haunted mansion, and the typical Halloween themes you would expect. But this isn't a horror or a thriller, for the most part it's a comedy. Much like the 2003 film. Therefore you can't expect the type of lighting and directing of a horror or thriller. Think family film, Halloween fun, atmosphere and adventure!

   What adds to this are the performances from a cast I don't really know anything about. A downside is that it holds less soul than the likes of Eddie Murphy and his charisma, for the most part the film is carried by Danny DeVito, a long loved Disney actor, and Owen Wilson. The rest of the cast just didn't really do it for me, and I feel that some of that might be because they just didn't seem like they were believable in any way. Not much of a family you can really see being real. Perhaps slightly miscast in this sort of film but better off elsewhere in other genres. This did ruin some of the immersion a bit, but flatter characters did make the whole spooky, darker side of the film more evident. Though I don't think the performances themselves are bad, just that the characters and casting itself seems a bit weak.

   But the film still had its moments. I liked how well the set design was, and even down to the use of special effects it wasn't that bad. I think some of this is due to the darker lighting, allowing them to hide the set and special effects in shadows. Blade Runner is a great example of this. Not to compare, but for context. And this is a surprise coming from a modern Disney film, which they typically love to go wild with cheap special effects and to pursue that option wherever possible instead of building sets and using real locations. The mansion's interior seemed spacious but real, full of mystery and many unique rooms that may have been hidden in time. The film utilised the space quite well, which I have to admit is another strange thing to be saying about a modern Disney release.

   It's story is the weakest part of the whole production, though. A single mother moving into a mansion which is haunted by ghosts, to which she hires a priest to try to remove them. It has a similar setup to the previous 2003 title, but weirdly with a few changes regarding the family structure. And as mentioned before, these characters are the least interesting part of the film compared to the performances by Danny DeVito and Owen Wilson. With this story, I just can't seem to see why it needs the runtime it has. It doesn't feel justified nor taken advantage of. It ended up being a bit of a slog when it could've been much stronger had it been shorter. And for a family comedy/horror, it just didn't really have that adventure and charm to it, the comedy just seemed like it wasn't really present.

   Perhaps it's worth a watch if you can spare the time and want to get into the mood for Halloween. In my case, I watched it because I wanted to avoid rewatching the classics as I usually do. I wanted something new, and this was definitely something new. Just, a little lackluster. I wouldn't expect a whole lot from it if I were you, that might make it a bit more enjoyable if you go in just expecting a lengthy film but with mildly interesting set of characters. I wouldn't say it's a terrible film at all, I don't think it qualifies. Nor would I say it's entirely worth skipping. Pretty much, if you like Halloween themes and have too much time, then I guess it could be your thing.

   Gabbie and her son Travis to the Gracey Manor with the aim of turning it into a guest house but since they arrive they are scared by the ghosts that inhabit it and they leave, but then they are chased by the ghosts who force them to return to the house. house, and the other people who dare to enter later also end up being stalked by some entity that forces them to return like Kent, an exorcist priest and then Ben, a photographer who is hired to take photos of the ghosts.    I tell you that I've been waiting for this new movie since it was announced because not only did I really like the one that was released in 2003, I also loved the attraction when I had the opportunity to see it when we visited Disneyland in 2005 and well, I would say that it was very good and made me have a good time at the movies. I will start by talking about the performance of the cast in general, which I thought was very good and I liked seeing actors like Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson and Owen Wilson among the leads since they are actors that I have admired for quite some time. I also liked that there were actors like Jared Leto (who did the voice of the bad ghost) and Winona Ryder (although she is not credited). I think they made a good choice and I really liked everyone's performance.

   Les cuento que estuve esperando esta nueva película desde que la anunciaron ya que no solamente la que lanzaron en 2003 me gustó mucho, también me encantó la atracción cuando tuve la oportunidad de verla cuando visitamos Disneyland en el 2005 y bueno, diría que estuvo muy buena y me hizo pasar un buen rato en el cine. Empezaré hablando del desempeño del cast en el general, el cual a mi me pareció muy bueno y me gustó ver a actores como Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson y Owen Wilson entre los protagonistas ya que son actores que admiro desde hace bastante tiempo, también me gustó que figuraran actores como Jared Leto (el cual hizo la voz del fantasma malo) y Winona Ryder (aunque no está acreditada). Pienso que hicieron buena elección y de verdad me gustó el desempeño de todos.

   The film in general has good photography as well as the special effects used in the creation of the ghosts and spirits which this time seem more chilling to me than those of the previous film, and the setting of the house and other places i also like a lot because the lighting and color palette used make the environments quite gloomy and realistic. Unlike the 2003 movie, this one seems a little more terrifying to me since the other one I would say is a little more comical but both are quite good and offer a good ghost story and the one in this movie seemed quite entertaining and very good for enjoy especially with family. I also really liked the soundtrack, I think it's excellent and it adds emotion to the plot.

   La película en general tiene buena fotografía así como los efectos especiales utilizados en la creación de los fantasmas y espíritus los cuales esta vez me parecen más escalofriantes que los de la anterior película, y la ambientación de la casa y otros lugares también me gusta mucho ya que la iluminación y paleta de colores utilizada hacen de los ambientes bastante lúgubres y realistas. A diferencia de la pelicula del 2003 esta me parece un poco más terrorífica ya que la otra diría que es un poco más cómica pero ambas son bastante buenas y ofrecen una buena historia de fantasmas y la de esta película me pareció bastante entretenida y muy buena para disfrutar especialmente en familia. El soundtrack también me gustó mucho, me parece excelente y le aporta emoción a la trama.

   This new Disney film is inspired by the classic theme park attraction of the same name and mixes fantasy with comedy and adventure, entertaining audiences of all ages.

   The plot revolves around the ghosts found in a mansion that has been bought by a successful doctor named Gabbie, played by Rosario Dawson, known for her performances in the films Sin City and Men in Black II, who has a young son named Travis, played by actor Chase Dillon who worked two years ago in the western The Harder They Fall.

   Hola amigos espero que se encuentren increíble, hace unos días me estaba acordando de una película un poco vieja que me encanta mucho, la mansión embrujada, antes la veía mucho en Disney pero luego dejaron de pasarla y no la había podido ver más, hasta ahora que me acordé que estaba en Disney plus. Por eso hoy les traigo su reseña.

Pues tiene todo que ver, porque ese duque es el dueño de la mansión y la trágica historia es un misterio sin resolver.

   Está película me hace recordar un poco a la producción de piratas del caribe, es que me da un aire, quizás lo siento así por sus similitudes visuales. Yo siento que está es una de las mejores películas que ha sacado Disney, es más, para ser del 2003 tiene una excelente producción, ambientación e historia, cosa que algunas películas de Disney de halloween de ahora no tienen, ya que las películas nuevas de Disney están llenas de musicales y eso se vuelve tedioso, aunque no hablo de abracadabra 2, esa me encanto con todo y sus musicales porque la primera también tenía musicales, así que esa siguió su historia como debía. Pero yo hablo de películas como “Chica vs monstruo” dónde la producción es muy mala y hay muchos musicales que no tienen tanto sentido, realmente siento que poner musicales sin sentido para quitar acortar guiones o la historia a veces si no se plantea de la mejor manera no quedan bien en la película.

Además la historia base de la película es muy buena, o sea ese argumento de; “Un duque pierde al amor de su vida de forma trágica, la soledad lo lleva a atentar contra su vida, llevándolos a ser un alma que luego de muchos años descubrirá por un volante que la señora Sara Evers de bienes raíces es la reencarnación de su amor. El duque hará todo lo posible por unir sus vidas nuevamente, pero los secretos y traiciones rondan en su mansión”

   Sin duda está película yo la recomiendo con los ojos cerrados, porque es muy muy buena, creo que arriba no lo dije pero el vestuario también es 10/10 la combinación de época con lo moderno del momento me parece genial, sin duda la mansión embrujada tiene muchos puntos grandiosos que se deben resaltar, tanto así que no recuerdo que tenga algo negativo llamativo y eso es fantástico.

   Realmente las actuación de Eddy Murphy, Marsha Thomason, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Jennifer Tilly, Ariel Alexandria,Marc John Jefferies, Nathaniel Parker, son actuaciones fenomenales, icónicas por así, las películas viejas de Halloween de Disney son una obra de arte y ojalá intentaran hacer producciones con diálogos realmente graciosos y buenas escenas y no película de “Relleno”.

   Really the performances of Eddy Murphy, Marsha Thomason, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Jennifer Tilly, Ariel Alexandria, Marc John Jefferies, Nathaniel Parker, are phenomenal performances, iconic for that matter, the old Disney Halloween movies are a work of art and I wish they would try to make productions with really funny dialogues and good scenes and not a “Filler” movie.

Espero se encuentren muy bien, hoy me gustaría hablarles de una película que me gusta mucho "The Haunted Mansion" la cual fué estrenada en el 2003 por The Walt Disney Pictures y protagonizada por Eddie Murphy, Marsha Thomason, Terrence Stamp, Jennifer Tilly, Nathaniel Parker entre otros.

   

   The story tells us the adventure of the Evers family, who on their way to a family trip with their 2 children decide to visit an old house whose owner "seeks to sell" since Jim and his wife Sara are real estate agents.    The story in general seemed quite entertaining, and the work that the actors do in the development of the characters is also very good. Eddie Murphy is one of my favorite actors and I found his character quite funny, also other characters like the 2 house workers and the spirit of the crystal ball also seemed funny to me and they give a touch of humor to the film. I also liked the work of the actor Terence Stamp as the butler Ramsey, who is the main antagonist. I feel that he managed to put a good dose of fear into the movie with his interpretation. In general, I think that the work of the entire cast worked perfectly as they managed to make a very entertaining and enjoyable film.

   La historia en general me pareció bastante entretenida, y el trabajo que hacen los actores en el desarrollo de los personajes es también muy bueno. Eddie Murphy es uno de mis actores favoritos y su personaje me pareció bastante gracioso, también otros personajes como los 2 trabajadores de la casa y el espiritu la bola de cristal también me parecieron graciosos y le dan un toque de humor a la película. También el trabajo del actor Terence Stamp como el mayordomo Ramsey el cual es el principal antagonista me gustó mucho, siento que logró ponerle una buena dósis de miedo a la pelicula con su interpretación. En general me parece que el trabajo de todo el elenco funcionó a la perfección ya que lograron hacer una película muy entretenida y agradable.

My favorite scenes are: the part where they run into the singing statues in the cemetery which I found very funny and also where they are on their way to the cemetery with Emma and Ezra from the house driving the float and she tells him "Drive carefully or you'll kill them all" and he replies "can't you see we're already dead?" I remember laughing a lot at both scenes the first time I saw the movie.

   La fotografía me gustó mucho, así como los efectos especiales utilizados en la creación de los fantasmas, esqueletos y otros espíritus y en especial ambientación de la casa y otros lugares, ya que la iluminación y paleta de colores utilizada hacen de los ambientes bastante lúgubres y realistas. Cabe resaltar que la película se basa en una atracción de Disneyland, por lo que varios lugares se parecen bastante. Mis escenas favoritas son: la parte en las que se topan con las estatuas cantantes en el cementerio las cuales me parecieron muy graciosas y también en la que van camino al cementerio con Emma y Ezra de la casa al mando de la carroza y ella le dice "maneja con cuidado o los matarás a todos" y el le responde "¿no ves que ya estamos muertos?", recuerdo que me reí mucho en ambas escenas la prímera vez que ví la peli.

   Aunque es una película algo vieja la he visto varias veces y aún me gusta mucho verla, me parece una buena mezcla de humor y terror por lo que no me aburre verla, la he disfrutado también varias veces en familia y cada vez que podemos volvemos a verla ya que todavía conservo una copia en formato DVD de la película, me gustaría mucho recomendársela a todos para disfrutarla ya sea en solitario o en familia, les aseguro que la disfrutarán y reirán bastante con ella.
