  1. Television Review: Jessica Jones (Season 1, 2015)@drax317d

    ![(source:tmdb.org)]https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/oCBXVGx4r3Hzyu2zWi9j9UdvvHD.jpg()

The Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2010s has grown so vast that it was no longer confined to film alone; Marvel Comics could afford to adapt even relatively obscure titles. Jessica Jones served as one such example, her obscurity explained not only by her unconventional status as a Marvel superheroine but also by her relative youth. She made her first comic appearance in 2001, which may not seem so distant given that the initial foundations for what would become a lucrative enterprise for Marvel and Hollywood studios were already laid thanks to the first X-Men films. Less than a decade and a half later, Jessica Jones re-emerged as the protagonist of a Netflix television series that garnered significant critical acclaim—not only among the now extensive array of superhero series but also within today’s hyper-competitive landscape of live-action television shows.

Jessica Jones, which, like other Netflix series, adopted the now-popular “limited” 13-episode format with a self-contained narrative per season, belongs to the same Marvel universe as The Avengers. In a narrower sense, it is even more closely linked to Daredevil, which preceded it, as well as Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which followed. The titular protagonist, portrayed by Krysten Ritter, is a New York-based private detective who, despite possessing superhuman strength, takes on routine, poorly paid jobs for decidedly unglamorous clients and spends nearly all her free time in a third-rate, run-down apartment where her neighbours are junkies and various pathological cases. Jones herself is not far removed from them, as her only companion—aside from the popular radio host Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), whom she has known since childhood—is a bottle of whisky.

The reasons for her attempts to drown her sorrows in alcohol stem not only from her previous career as a costumed heroine ending in catastrophic failure but also from an incident that left her deeply traumatised and consumed by guilt. Behind it all stands the villain Killgrave (David Tennant), who possesses the power to control others’ minds and whom she confronts again when it emerges that the runaway daughter her clients are searching for is one of his latest victims.

Jessica Jones, much like Daredevil, represents both a part of and a kind of antithesis to the Marvel Cinematic Universe—at least if one considers its most famous elements to be costumed superheroes spectacularly saving megacities from alien monsters. The series’ heroine is far more grounded in reality, or as close to a realistic depiction of everyday life as the superhero genre permits. She is not merely a sullen cynic, alcoholic, and PTSD sufferer but also exists in a world weighed down by supposedly “trivial” and “banal” yet very real issues such as addiction and sexual abuse. Even the main antagonist, masterfully portrayed by David Tennant, is relatively “small-time” compared to other Marvel villains, using his powers to indulge in seemingly minor whims. It is precisely the banality and everyday nature of his evil that makes him far more terrifying. The series’ exceptionally dark, noir tone—where there was little opportunity to utilise special effects—is also reflected in the sex scene involving the protagonist, which in the original comic was notably bold for Marvel’s standards at the time due to its rawness but in the series is reconstructed faithfully in a decidedly non-erotic manner.

However, the atmosphere alone would not have been sufficient for Jessica Jones’ success without the exceptionally high-quality scriptwriting. Melissa Rosenberg, known for her work on the Twilight film series and the popular TV show Dexter, adeptly handled the material, delivering viewers a dark yet intriguing and gripping story across 13 episodes. She was strongly supported by a cast dominated by women, unlike many series in the same genre. This applies above all to Ritter, who, by portraying a far more complex character than the ill-fated Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad, is crafting one of the most unconventional, least conventional, yet most striking television heroines in recent years. Australian model Rachael Taylor also delivered a strong performance as her friend, as did Carrie-Anne Moss, who has quietly transitioned to character-driven roles since The Matrix and here portrays a deeply compelling, morally compromised lesbian lawyer. Jessica Jones, at least judging by its first season, is a series that once again demonstrates how television, even within the superhero genre, has become a higher-quality medium than the big screen in terms of content quality.

    RATING: 8/10 (+++)

Hello to all fans of good stories... I hope you are feeling great today. This time I bring a new review... this time I will continue with another series of the old Marvel/Netflix partnership... previously I shared with you my review of Daredevil, considered for me the best Marvel series to date. and well, this time I want to share with you another series that is derived from that same universe and that I also think is very, very good. Today I will talk about the series Jessica Jones, this series delves into the reality of having powers and the psychological weight that it can have. Imagine a life where your mind and body have been controlled by someone else... where some of the most important choices in your life have been stolen from you, and that an apparent blessing turns out to be a curse for you.... Jessica is the protagonist of this series, I wouldn't consider her a heroine completely... she is simply a woman who ends up helping certain people, but most of the time she is quite indifferent...
She faces certain nightmares and tries to regain control of her life.. i tell you, this superhero series is very different.. it's far from the typical gloss and the typical save the day vibe that we could find in any other Marvel production, this series has a very unique vibe.. when i started watching it i expected to see, obviously, amazing action scenes, or villain percussions, typical stuff, but Jessica Jones hits you with something completely different from the first episode.. The world Jessica lives in is complicated.. she is a person tormented by a villain who, in my opinion, is one of the best villains I've seen in a superhero series.. and most importantly, he doesn't need weapons or an army to make our protagonist suffer in many ways.. he has a certain power that makes him terrifyingly powerful, and he uses this power in such a deep way that he leaves real and deep scars...
Over the course of the episodes we will see Jessica relive her trauma over and over again, dealing with guilt, loneliness and helplessness.. this is a story that explores very dark themes with unique realism, it differs to Daredevil as we are not trying to fight crime directly, but we are following a personal struggle, something very different to what many will be used to.

Krysten Reiter as Jessica is brilliant...I had seen her in much lighter roles before, but here she completely transforms. She presents us with a sarcastic, reserved character, and it's interesting to see how she carries the weight of her past mistakes.... This actress's performance perfectly captures her pain and her toughness, you can see it in her eyes...she has been through hell and has built very thick walls to keep herself safe, despite her constant cynicism, you can tell there are people she cares about, although she would never admit it of course. Her relationship with her best friend, Trish, is interesting, she is the only anchor Jessica has...her connection to the more “normal” world, but even their friendship is complex and sometimes chaotic...not everything is rosy...they fight, make up, then fight again.
Trish has a rather bright personality, unlike Jessica, and her determination to become someone better is always perfectly balanced with our protagonist's latent darkness. One of the things that surprised me the most was how well the series integrates psychological depth with action and suspense.. instead of big fight scenes, this series focuses mostly on smaller, more personal confrontations.. there's one specific episode where Jessica tries to lure the villain into a trap, and the tension is really crazy...
You're on the edge of your seat, knowing that Jessica has various plans, but also keeping in mind that at any moment the big villain can get away with it, this to me was really exciting.. it's a series that does manage to get you excited. It's different from most other superhero stories, where it's already pretty cliché what you think is going to happen, here she's not trying to save the world or save the city, it's just her trying to save herself and a few people she really loves.. in a sense, this makes every victory and every defeat feel that much more impactful.

I really like the raw and more realistic approach of this series.. we see how Jessica's strength, for example, doesn't magically solve all her problems, in fact, she always tries to hide it and avoid situations where she has to use it... She is a private investigator with jobs that involve catching cheating husbands or finding missing persons.. nothing too glamorous, and her strength is both a blessing and a curse, sure, she is able to break several doors in one blow, but this doesn't fix her broken friendships, solve her cases, or erase her trauma.
The series doesn't move away from these raw truths, and that's what makes it unique, Jessica is one of the most human superheroines you'll ever see on screen... she has serious problems with alcohol, she takes refuge in different things that may not be entirely healthy, she doesn't think things through and she makes a lot of mistakes... Let's talk about Killgrave... as I was saying, he's one of Marvel's best villains, he's played in a chilling way by David Tenant, and he's someone you'll love to hate. He is a completely manipulative, narcissistic and cruel villain, although he doesn't see himself as a villain.. a part of him believes that he is actually in love with Jessica, and this twisted version of love only makes him more and more dangerous, he is the one in charge of giving a creepier touch to the series, in the first season... Obviously it doesn't give terror, but it does take you out of the loop on many occasions... many times we see many characters trying to resist his influence, giving us very heartbreaking scenes.

Although I like this series a lot, I have some criticisms.. for example, some points of the plot feel a little extended and exaggerated.. there are several sub-plots that did not convince me.. I feel that they take time away from the central conflict.. it does not feel that these sub-plots are completely necessary. Another thing, there are some secondary characters that I didn't end up connecting with, for example, Malcolm... although he has his good moments, most of the time I feel that if they deleted his character, it wouldn't directly affect the plot in a direct way... I would have liked them to be developed more in a certain way.
The first season for me was the best, I feel that the ending of this one feels satisfying and a bit anticlimactic at the same time.. this series sins for being too simple in certain episodes.. i feel that many times i was left expecting something really shocking or a gigantic fight, but everything was too earthly. Although this is one of the points that I like the most about this series, I admit that in some occasions I would have liked to see Jessica in 100% heroine mode. This series has three seasons... my favorite is the first one, the second also seemed pretty good to me... it has some incredible emotional moments... and the third one, for me I feel that it could have been exploited in a better way... unfortunately it did not convince me completely... although I consider that the end was nice enough and it was a somewhat worthy closure for this superheroine.

As far as ratings go, I give Jessica Jones an 8.5/10. It's refreshing, dark and intensely psychological.. it's different than many other series I've seen, specifically superhero series. Krysten's performance alone is worth it...the exploration of trauma and recovery gives it a depth that is unique. Obviously, it's not a perfect series, it has several problems.. but, even so, it's still an incredible journey and recommended.
If you are looking for a series that will not only entertain you, but make you think a little, well you should give it a chance. Jessica charts her own path... a messy and painful path to redemption and a slightly more heroic life, but she never quite establishes herself as a savior of the innocent... she's always just Jessica, the private investigator with alcoholic problems, and a bad attitude. As I was saying, there is a lot of quality behind the older Marvel and Netflix productions... and I think that, within all the ones they put out, this one is very worthwhile. I'll leave you the trailer down here... I hope you give it a chance if you haven't. Let me know what you thought of it. I'll see you in the next reviews. Take care of yourselves. Bye bye.

Bye bye.

  3. Jessica Jones -season 2@mmaruf3023d

After a bad season 1, the makers of Jessica Jones tried their best to work on the story and screenplay of Jessica Jones.

Marvel has invested so much energy and money on Jessica Jones that they just can not leave that now. In season 2 they got back to the cliche theory : "THE DARK PAST". In the whole season 2, Jessica fights with her past. There is no actual antagonist in season 2. It is just her and her family matters. Jessica tries to find out about her past ans finds the medical center where she was experimented and were given super - powers. SO, Jessica tries to find that culprit who did this to her. But she finds out that her mother is actually working with that doctor who experimented on her. Now, she is in a dilemma. She just can not kill that doctor because her mother loves the doctor.

Though it is not Marvel's best tv series, I can certainly say that it is much better than Jessica Jones Seaon 1. Before "MARVEL'S DEFENDERS" , they tried to ensure that Jessica Jones get a good response from the viewers as she has a very big part in the upcoming MARVEL television series.

  4. Jessica Jones -season 2 episode 1 - review@mmaruf3024d

The first season of Jessica Jones was not up to the mark. The climax and the character development was not just there. Now , Marvel has brought this superhero series again with a new agenda, story.

In the first episode of Jessica Jones season 2, we see that she is back in her old job, which is private investigator. Now she has an assistant. Her sister is trying her to convince Jessica to look for her past because the her sister will get a good story for show . And Jessica just won't do that cause she knows her sister is doing all of these to be more popular.

Jessica gets many annoying clients everyday but one day a weirdo comes and says he is lightning fast at running and someone else is trying to kill him. Jessica thought he was just a mad person. But soon, Jessica found that he actually had speed but before doing anything that man got killed mysteriously . No, Jessica is going after them who killed this weirdo. And Jessica's past has something to do with this.

So, in this season, Marvel is going down the obvious tested way, "THE DARK PAST" Almost every Marvel superhero has a dark past. It seems in Jessica Jones we are going to see that again. Hope, it will be worth watching !!!!

  5. Jessica Jones - television series review@mmaruf3029d

Marvel has introduced many super hero to us through television and movies. We have seen the marvelous DAREDEVILS. With that continuity Marvel brought us "Jessica Jones". But somehow it did not worked that much as other Marvel television series.

    Story and Screenplay-

Jessica is a private investigator. But she has amazing physical power. She can fight amazingly . But, she is mind controlled by Kilgrave, who is the antagonist of the story. She is not strong enough to fight him because he is in her head, her mind. She just can not get him out of her inner-self. Throughout the 1st season of Jessica Jones, she tries to fight against the evil and meets with another super hero LUKE CAGE. The problem with the screenplay is that it was not engaging enough. people did not got to see the inner-self of Kilgrave. Kilgrave is a very powerful villain because of his power of controlling mind. But we did not see the full powered position of him in the series. Jessica's character was not written well enough.

    Acting-

Krysten Ritter played the protagonist, Jessica. She failed to left impression in people's mind . She was not very natural in Jessica's character. We haven't seen enough of David Tennant as Kilgrave. We just saw him towards the end of the series . He should have got more footage in the series.

  6. Jessica Jones Marvel Series (Review#7)@filotasriza33409d

Hey how are you? Yes you the one reading it right now!

Today I will review another Marvel show I really like and it is none other than Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is a Marvel hero that with the help of Netflix it got its own show. It has 13 episodes and I think I aired after Daredevil fist season. The order I think is Daredevil-Jessica jones-Luke Cage

Below I will mention a few things about the plot in order for you to have an idea what is it about and later on I will post more info on every person takes part in separately! I am too kind and you know it

Jessica is an orphan that got adopted by Dorothy Walker a famous talent agent that has another daughter the beautiful Trish Walker with whom Jessica developed good bonds and each one cares for the other. When Jessica was teen she discovered her superpowers, superhuman strength to be exact( a couple of surprise powers waits you in the show) and later she started her journey as a superhero fighting crime!

Her career as a hero ended pretty bad with the encounter of Kilgrave a villain played by the amazing David Tennant, you may remember him from DOCTOR WHO. Kilgrave with his mind controlling powers made Jessica his slave until she broke free somehow. This experience made her quit acting as a superhero and become a private investigator in New York City that takes small cases just for rent and food money. Moreover, after the encounter she suffers from stress and psychologic problems.

That peaceful life comes to an end when Kilgrave comes in town and Jessica has to do something in order to stop him and win over her demons! The whole season is Jessica against Kilgrave with many many things happening in between.

Let’s say a couple of words for a couple of people involving in the show:

I won’t say anything more about Jessica jones as I want you to see her whole character development in the show

    Trish Walker

As i have mentioned she is sister of Jessica Jones as well as a former model and child Tv star (‘’thanks to her mom’’) and now she is currently working as successful radio talk show host. She loves Jessica a lot and tries to support her as much as she can. She is very determined to do that and willingly get involved into helping her with Kilgrave. The reason she loves so much Jessica is that when Trish was young her abusive talent manager mother forced her into be a model and a child star without caring about her needs. That led Trish into drug addiction with Jessica saving her form that. She learns and knows a few things about self-defense and how to use a gun!

Because we tell truths here let me tell you she is hot

    Will Simpson

He is a police officer that encountered with Kilgrave and of course controlled by him. As a result he made his life purpose to find and kill him. I don’t want to spoil other things but keep in mind that Will Simpson takes part in bigger things and he is not that the mere cop we see in every movie, his role is better and throughout the series he is well developed!

    Kilgrave

Kilgrave or Kevin Thompson was a child that his parents made many experiments in order to treat neurodegenerative disease he had resulting in giving his current powers. He then started to use his powers for personal gain (since he could literally do whatever he wanted to). When he found Jessica Jones he obsessed with her and even loving her and try to find her out when she broke free (she was the only one having accomplished that)

What is amazing about him is that he learned how to use his power and he uses it in a very smart way. Every time we see him in the show using his power he just do it in a different way and he has plan A, plan B, plan C. He is somewhat of a mastermind and he never keeps us bored. Also I believe that the actor playing him is just the perfect fit for Kilgrave, they did in general amazing work with the cast.

                                                   My Conclusion

Go watch it, the whole show is like a manhunt and it’s very enjoyable to watch it if you haven’t. I saw it in 2 days only and I didn’t even realize it. Once again its different from the other show as in this one we get to see more of a villain with Super powers unlike in Luke Cage that pretty much was gang and criminal wars

The good thing with marvel is that each of their series is different from the other but all connect to each other, go check it out and tell me what you think about

Here is the Jessica Jones trailer

If you want i can make another section of posts that review each season of a show, if you want that let me know. Every show i review i 100% watch or watched it. Be free to comment me everything you want to know or to say
