  1. Living With Yourself [Netflix Original] - Is it worth the time?@unbiasedwriter2428d

I guess I might be a bit late with this review, especially considering that some of my great review mates on Steemit have already written a review of Living With Yourself (@gooddream and @serialfiller). But, maybe you are interested in reading my thoughts about this brand new Netflix original series starring Paul Rudd as well? Well, keep on reading, and I might actually inspire you to watch this show!

    Paul Rudd.jpg

What is Living With Yourself all about (some spoilers)

Paul Rudd is playing the character of a man who isn't satisfied with his life. He isn't successful at work, and things aren't really good at home either. A colleague tells him about this SPA salon that made miracles to him and encourages our "hero" to pay the place a visit as well. After some thinking, he decides to go there himself.

One of the funniest moments of the show takes place right there and then when he is lying there in the SPA salon and the "doctors" are shouting in Korean, without the patient understanding a thing. I can easily imagine how frustrating that must be, especially if you have no clue what is really going on and it sounds as if something is going wrong... but you have no clue, simply because the doctors speak a different language. I laughed really hard right there!

Everything looks good after this and Paul Rudd leaves the SPA salon. But, what really happened? They cloned him, and the new and better version is now alive and well, while the original was killed (or was supposed to be killed). And instead of just living a better life, there are now two of the same person out there, and this will lead to all sorts of interesting events.

My honest thoughts about Living With Yourself

I didn't have time to binge-watch the show, so I watched one episode a day for 8 days. And on all these days, I looked forward to seeing how the story would move on. It was always curious about the continuation of the story, but it wasn't addictive in the way that it was really hard to wait. I read a review in an online paper in which they criticized the show for falling in between the humor and the drama category, and I kind of agree to that. Living With Yourself is at times funny, but it isn't a comedy. It is at times a drama, but it cannot at all be compared to show like This Is Us. This might be a strength, but also a weakness.

I like the way Paul Rudd plays the role of both his characters, and it doesn't really annoy me. It can sometimes be annoying with double roles, but normally, I don't have a problem with it. So, when I disliked Gemini Man, it wasn't because of the double role of Will Smith, it was simply because it was a terrible movie. And so I actually enjoyed watching Paul Rudd in both versions of his character.

All in all, I had a very good time watching the show. I liked how they twisted the story, and also had a good time seeing everything that happened from the different perspective of the two characters. Actually, that might be a good lesson for some people as they understand that events in life can always be seen from two perspectives.

    Final judgment

Living With Yourself is amusing (at times) and it has a story that is interesting. It might not be the best show ever, but if you want some simple and nice TV series to watch on Netflix tonight (and for some more evenings), I believe this can serve you well.

It currently has a 7,4/10 score on IMDb. This is a fairly good score, and I believe it deserves such a score. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an 85% score (which is better than the IMDb score). In other words, quite a lot of people like this show a lot, and I guess I belong to that category (even though I would have loved for the show to contain more jokes and laughter as I strongly feel as if this series belong in the comedy category and not in the drama category).

  2. Living with yourself: a life with our clone is possible?@serialfiller2433d

    Tunnel Wave.png

Living with yourself is one of the many new Netflix series of this 2019, now densisissmo of products. And it is precisely this density that is the biggest enemy of the spectator, who, even if he wants to try to keep up with the streaming platforms and the big networks, just won't be able to avoid losing many titles on the road. And then the question is reversed if we look from the point of view of production companies that to stand out must invent new concepts, trying to make them better. There are those who trust in a powerful writing, some in big budgets, some in the basic idea. Others, like the series covered in this post, rely above all on their leading actor. Paul Rudd is finally called to the main role in a television production after many appearances and some important roles in the cinema. In this series Paul Rudd splits, interpreting himself and his clone. Not a very original idea but that could have created beautiful introspective moments. He could, because in fact the series while not boring and throwing interesting ideas, he can't convince himself up to the bottom.

    STEEMPOSSIBLE STORYCHAIN THEMAGAZINE.png

The powerful idea behind the series is that it projects us into a surreal situation in which, not wanting to, we find our clone at home and not because of a strange retaliation by someone against us but by our conscious choice ended badly because of the cloning software that was supposed to "throw" the cloning body and preserve the cloned. So who will our life be? Our or our clone? Who will succumb? Impossible choice, ethically and practically. So why not try to live together? Splitting wife, dog, home, work, affections and hobbies? 2 people for a lifetime only. Very interesting and original concept but which fails to develop effectively, indeed it seems very firm on its own positions and anchored to the beautiful initial idea. Paul Rudd is good, very good, he manages to make good the duplicity of his character and launch himself soul and body in this adventure. Not enough to emerge in such a dense landscape, ending up as a simple and good TV series to look distractedly and then forget about it.

  3. Living With Yourself (series) : It's Paul Rudd on Netflix and it's just OK (Potential spoilers)@gooddream2443d

When I say it is just OK i mean that I watched the entire first season in one sitting but I was a bit underwhelmed after it was all over. Comparing this series to Dead to Me I can easily say that this is nowhere near as good as the Christina Applegate series.

I am kind of indifferent to whether or not Living with Yourself even has a second season and mostly, in my mind, that isn't a great sign.

I found it difficult to completely eliminate spoilers in this write-up so if you want to go into this series blind, i highly suggest you turn back

The basic premise is that Miles Elliot (Rudd) is unhappy with his own life professionally and personally and finds out from a work colleague a method of changing all of that through a day spa that did wonders for him. Rudd decides to persue the same avenue and ends up being cloned with improved DNA, but unlike those that have come before, his original self survives the process resulting in two Miles Elliots living in the same time and space.

What we are left with is two identical Miles Elliots that have the same body, same memories, and same basically everything. The other people in their lives are unaware that there are 2 of them but since the "improved" Miles had access to DNA betterment, the old Miles is less desireable in most ways....certainly professional.

That's all of the plot that I think i should reveal and exactly that is revealed in the trailer so please don't give me a headache over this, i did the best i could.

I think that this show is entertaining for sure: I did actually sit through 8, 22-minute episodes without leaving the sofa after all. However, I for one have never enjoyed films where one person is playing the role of multiple people and I am going to be seriously judgmental any time that someone tries to pull this off.

    [source](https://uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/living-with-you-paul-rudd-1.jpg)

For the most party, Paul Rudd doesn't need to interact with Paul Rudd and when they do need to do so, the CGI team or whatever actually pull it off quite well by virtue of limiting the physical contact between the two characters that are both, essentially, "Miles."

I just don't believe that the underlying story of "self-discovery" that Miles experiences is particularly compelling and also, a lot of what goes on is pretty unrealistic because well, people around them would notice the difference.

    from the official [Netflix](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWOA1ZGywLbqmigxE4Qlvuw) channel

Overall, I would say that this sequence of 22 minute episodes is decent, and I am not disappointed that I watched them but in the end I don't really think they have much of a show here. Even though the season ends with an obvious indication that there is material for a 2nd season in store, I'm not looking forward to it because the show kind of runs its absurd course after 8 episodes.

While I did enjoy certain aspects of this series I would say that there is a really good chance that you can pass this one and still feel as though you have missed nothing. People may be talking about this now, but they wont be doing so a month from now.
