While I had started watching this months ago as buddy recommended it to me some months ago, I also had seen back then some few videos talking about animes from the season back then highlighting this anime, praising the production in how everything from the presentation of the worlds to the animation and soundtrack were really good, and recommending this as one of the the best from this year. From teh combination of adapting the light novel from 2012 that was highly influential to the "Isekai" genre (person from real world dying and reincarnating in a different world where the anime takes place) and praised for its story, to the visible attention to detail in producing this anime adaptation.
While the 11th episode of the anime aired in back in March (marking the end of the first half of the anime), the second half started airing in October (and just few days ago started watching those episodes; for that matter it is still ongoing) so for the sake of consistency with "seasons" and the fact that the second half is still ongoing, I'll be covering my thoughts about the first 11 episodes of this anime.
NOTE: If you haven't watched these first 11 episodes of the anime, then there will be spoilers below of them, so read at your own risk.
The premise begins with a homeless man on the streets (later shown to be a failure after severe bullying in school and becoming a hikkikomori, isolating himself from everyone) getting hit by a truck and dying after trying to save someone. He ends up reincarnating as the children of two previous adventurers in a magic world, awakening in the body of a bab. While this is uncommon for the genre as characters often reincarnate either as how they were in their past life or with a new yet grown up form, this gives a lot of weight to both the character's struggle with his traumas from his former life...and the idea about how he's given a second chance to achieve something and learn from his mistakes.
Despite being reborn as a baby given the name of "Rudeus", he actually keeps his intelligence, which while allows him to learn the new world's language very quickly and become a prodigy as a magic user at a very early age, also demostrates that one of his main personality traits of his past like, being a pervert, is...left intact. However, the story has him reflect both on the actions he takes on his second life (taking in mind his actions from the past and the problems it caused him) and having to face the unexplored dangers of an entirely new world. After his mother witnessed his pmagic otential (as he broke a wall by accidentally reading a water spell he saw on a book), she brought a magic teacher called Roxy Migurdia, which helped him master water spells to the point that he surpassed her after learning everything.
After practicing swordfighting with his father, Paul Greyrat, he meets a girl named Sylphiette after defending her from bullies and turns into his first friend (albeit after some issues, as she disguised a boy and Rudeus got into trouble after accidentally discovering that) and then is forced by his father to take a tutoring job as a math and magic teacher with a girl named Eris Boreas Greyrat, along with being taught more swordfighting by a beastwoman called Ghilaine. There is an explanation about the Boreas family wanting to keep in secret their connection with the Greyrat, as at one point Rudeus and Eris get kidnapped and have to escape (Rudeus at first thought it was a plan to have Eris appreciate his lessons as he had offered an idea like that...but they got kidnapped by real bandits).
The anime progresses in a quite natural way, introducing characters organically for important purposes in the story as the anime can skip from days to years if necessary at any given point, but doesn't force any characters to stay for no reason either: Roxy departs after arriving and having taught Rudeus all what she could, and Rudeus is forced to leave Sylphiette behind after he wanted to pay for her entrance at a magic academy, as Paul decided that both of them needed to be able to stand on their own (having Rudeus leave to a new place and take a job on his own, while Sylphiette needed to progress without having to rely on Rudeus).
The characters have designs and personalities that stand out from each other, which makes you empatize more with them as the story progresses, like Rudeus being gentlemanly at times and impressively precocious yet acting strangely pervy at certain moments (because he's mentally still a 30 year old otaku), Roxy being calm and being a great teacher that can also get flustered due to people thinking she's too young to be one at first sight (as she's actually from a demon species that has a really long lifespan, making her look way younger than she is), Paul being a caring father to Rudeus and a very skilled swordsman that can also be recklessly carefree (many give bad impressions of him and left both his wife and the home's maid pregnant at one point), and Eris Boreas Greyrat (the girl Rudeus had to tutor) having a short-temper and acting quite violent against Rudeus.
The characters also have some great development fitting to the story beats we get, like Rudeus learning to cherish the first friends he ever met since and overcoming his past trauma of leaving home. Eris also grows to be much more caring to others (including Rudeus) and developing her swordfighting skills taught by Rudeus (which were taught to him by Paul), which becomes important as at one point where Rudeus and Eris are caught by a huge wave of light and transported to an entirely new continent. This is where the rare interventions of the "Human-God" figure who gives cryptic advices to Rudeus in his dreams begins (where he's shown with his past life's body), as he is given the advice to trust the man that saved his life, which happens to be a demon from the Superd race, green haired humanoids with red gems in their foreheads that are dreaded and always depicted in stories as cold-blooded killers.
However, the advice ends up being helpful as Rudeus finds out that their reputation is a mistake as the incident where the Superd murdered between themselves and others that had everybody regard them as killers was caused by cursed spears that controlled their minds, with Ruijerd (the one telling him) having snapped after he killed his son under that influence, and now wielding his spear with the intention of clearing his race's name. This sets in motion a new arc as Rudeus decides to help him with this, forming a team of adventurers aiming for great reputation (but that will be met by countless setbacks; Ruijerd also has to disguise himself due to the sight green hair and red forehead gem being a visible threat to anybody).
At the end of everything when, after many hardships, they arrive to a coastal city, getting one step home returning home...but at the same time, not only Roxy is seen again arriving at the same city looking for Rudeus, but also Paul leaves a note there after finding out that Zenith (his wife), Lilia (the maid) and Aisha (his daughter from the maid) are gone. There's also a glimpse of a new character that would play an important role in the next episode...which happened to be the 12th one, so the continuation of the arc would be left hanging until the arrival of Part 2 months after.

There is a reason why this anime received so many positive reviews as it started airing: As mentioned before, not only the story and characters are quite endearing for the most part, but also everything is brought with very solid animation, many backgrounds that really take you to the variety of locations seen, and details like every episode's intro not only not using a same song, but also acts more like a extension of the episode showing the world or situation but with credits playing over (instead of playing a specific opening movie every time like in every other anime). As an anime reviewer in Youtube described it once, the episodes have a special feeling as if they were made as movies instead of anime, as the attention to detail is quite evident.
And yes, there was a bit of news regarding how some reviewers (and a country...you might guess which one) took offense regarding Rudeus's behaviour, and while his pervy actions definitely have him deserve a whack with a bat at times, pretending that the anime encourages it is completely missing the point (both in the many times this gets him into trouble and the fact that, once again, this is because of the man he used to be, who is often shown by the anime as a loser), and...well, I didn't really think in adding that here, but just wanted to as those complaints feel like nitpicking when everything else makes for one of the best anime out of this year.
Oh, and some few Guilty Gear games are shown in some of the past life flashbacks, which is neat (as I'm a fan of fighting games, including the GG games), interesting (as the game depicted hints that the man died around the early 2000s)...and sort of an insult because, yeah, it isn't the only thing shown regarding his behaviour pre-reincarnation...but well, the idea was to show that he was a complete shut-in before dying, and adding some of that into this anime helps complement certain changes he can finally take for the best.
In any case, this is the first anime review I post here (it feels harder for me to write anime reviews than game reviews for some reason), and while I might have went a bit overboard with writing, I definitely recommend people to watch this anime. For the next posts, I'll be likely making a post about my thoughts of The God of High School (my brother got me to watch it today...this is gonna be a ride) and, if I can, get to write an idea for the contest I heard of in here. Si bien empecé a ver esto hace meses porque un amigo me lo recomendó hace unos meses, también había visto en ese entonces algunos videos que hablaban de animes de la temporada en ese entonces destacando este anime, alabando la producción en cuanto a que todo, desde la presentación de los mundos hasta la animación y la banda sonora eran muy buenos, y recomendando esto como uno de los mejores de este año. Desde la combinación de la adaptación de la novela ligera de 2012 que fue muy influyente en el género "Isekai" (persona del mundo real que muere y se reencarna en un mundo diferente donde el anime se lleva a cabo) y alabado por su historia, a la atención visible a los detalles en la producción de esta adaptación del anime.

Sin embargo, la historia le hace reflexionar tanto sobre las acciones que lleva a cabo en su segunda vida (teniendo en cuenta sus acciones del pasado y los problemas que le causaron) como teniendo que enfrentarse a los peligros inexplorados de un mundo completamente nuevo.
