Hello everyone, I saw Retribution yesterday, the film would have been better without the children in the car I think, they didn't say anything, and the acting performances from them I thought were ass. Sorry Liam Neeson I'm a fan of yours, not your fault hehe.😃
Retribution is an intense action thriller from 2023. Starring Liam Neeson, he and the children are subjected to a house threat while driving them to school. If they stop or get out of the car, it will explode. Liam Neeson delivers well as usual.
Visually, the film is good, and has a number of good twists and surprises along the way. Cool car chase scenes and with music from Hans Zimmer which I like a lot. The film is directed by Nimrod Antal and the film delivers excitement from start to finish, but the dialogue from the children in the car was too simple and at times simply stupid. They basically said nothing.. The film would have been much better without them lol. Sorry, it's a 6 from me, could have been an 8 maybe..

The film stars Liam Neeson as Matt Tuner, Jack Champion as Zach Tuner, Ember Davidtz as Heather Tuner, Noma Dumezwei as Angela Brickmann and Matthew Modine as Anders Muller among other actors and is directed by Nimród Antal.
La película cuenta con un elenco compuesto entre Liam Neeson quien hace el papel de Matt Tuner, Jack Champion cómo Zach Tuner, Ember Davidtz como Heather Tuner, Noma Dumezwei cómo Angela Brickmann y Matthew Modine como Anders Muller entre otros actores además de que cuenta con la dirección de Nimród Antal.
The plot revolves around Matt Tuner a very important banker who works in Berlin, he is someone or the kind of person who revolves around work and that is something that makes it clear the film to start by their family interactions which are seen to be in crisis, by a request from his wife (which he wanted to do) takes his children to school, taking the surprise that under his seat was a bomb and if he got out of the car would detonate putting the lives of his children and himself in danger having the time counting down to try to save their lives.
La trama gira en torno a Matt Tuner un banquero muy importante que trabaja en Berlín, el es alguien o el tipo de persona que gira en torno al trabajo y eso es algo que deja bien en claro la película al comenzar por su interacciones familiares las cuales se ven que están en crisis, por un pedido de su esposa (cosa que lo quería hacer) lleva a sus hijos en las escuela, llevándose la sorpresa de que debajo de su asiento había una bomba y si llegaba a salir del auto iba a detonar poniendo la vida de sus hijos y la de él en peligro teniendo el tiempo contando para intentar salvar sus vidas.
The truth is that I swore it had more action and that's why I had not insisted on watching it since I'm not much of this type of movie, but I ended up watching it to spend quality time with my dad who has seen other movies of the leading actor and who also wanted to see against the clock, my surprise is that although the scenario almost all the time is a car, it does not become boring.
La verdad yo juraba que tenía más acción y por eso no había insistido en verla ya que no soy mucho de este tipo de película, pero la termine viendo por pasar tiempo de calidad con mi papá que ha visto otras películas del actor protagonista y el cual quería también ver contra el reloj, mi sorpresa es que a pesar que el escenario casi todo el tiempo es un carro no llega a ser aburrida.
It is important to mention that we are talking about a film which, its main component is the intrigue and suspense since we do not know who is behind this as well as if anyone is going to come out alive, it is at that moment that the film plays with the attention of the viewers having an actor capable of drawing attention with his dialogues and actions even though sometimes they are weak, it seems to me that Contrareloj knew how to make the scenes dynamic despite watching it in a car for almost an hour and a half.
Es importante mencionar que estamos hablando de una película la cual, su principal componente es la intriga y el suspenso ya que no sabemos quién está detrás de esto además de que si alguno vaya a salir con vida, es en ese momento que el filme juega con la atención de los espectadores teniendo un actor capaz de llamar la atención con sus diálogos y acciones a pesar de que a veces sean flojos, me parece que Contrareloj supo cómo hacer dinámica las escenas a pesar de verla en un carro casi por hora y media.
However, I complain a little about the integration of the children in the scenes, not because it was not necessary for them to be there since they were a key tool to be hooked thinking that something is going to happen to them, but because I feel that they were not exploited in the right way or enough in addition to their family situation that although it is talked about, it is left half lost in the middle of the film, something that I would have liked them to touch more deeply.
Si bien, me quejo un poco de la integración de los hijos en las ecenas, no porque no era necesario que estén ya que fueron una herramienta clave para estar enganchado al pensar que les va a pasar algo si no que siento que no fueron explotados de la manera correcta o suficiente además de su situación familiar que si bien se habla, se deja medio perdido está argumento a mitad de película cosa que me hubiera gustado que tocarán más a fondo.
The deaths and bombs, were vital in this sincerely we are vas visual than words, every three seconds they could say they had a bomb that could detonate at any moment but until we saw it with our own children we did not take this argument as something tangent, so I feel that these parts revitalized the film at a time that was getting lazy, plus the actions of the villain that leads the protagonist to a tightrope.
Las muertes y bombas, fueron vital en esto sinceramente nosotros somos vas visuales que de palabras, a cada tres segundos podían decir que tenían una bomba que podía detonar en cualquier momento pero hasta no verlo con nuestro propios hijos no tomamos este argumento como algo tangente, por eso siento que esas partes revitalizaron el filme en momento que se estaba poniendo flojo, además de las acciones del villano que lleva al protagonista a una cuerda floja.
"A man who has nothing to lose" is the way I describe the decline of a character that in the middle of his car was declining throughout the film, falling into the traps of the person who betrayed him in addition to realizing the things he was losing for his work and not doing things right, something that perhaps I was confused was the end although it would be sinful to say it was not brilliantly exciting, my rating to this film would be a 7/10.
“Un hombre que no tiene nada que perder” es la manera que describo el declive de un personaje que en medio de su carro fue decayendo a lo largo del filme, cayendo en las trampas de la persona que lo traicionó además de darse cuenta de las cosas que estaba perdiendo por su trabajo y no hacer las cosas bien, algo que tal vez me quedo confuso fue el final aunque sería pecado decir no fue brillantemente emocionante, mi calificación a está película sería un 7/10.
Hay una particularidad que tienen las películas de Liam Neeson y es que siempre está metido en un problema en donde sus hijos están en medio de la situación y siendo él, un hombre capaz sin importar a que se dedique, buscará la forma de salir airoso e ileso del conflicto en el que está. Como lo digo en el titulo soy gran fan de Neeson y de sus films, desde Qui-Gon Jinn en Star Wars, Hannibal en la Brigada A hasta Bryan Mills en Taken. La carrera de este actor ha sido vasta y en su haber tiene grandes películas, capaz me las he visto todas, no lo se, pero de lo que si estoy seguro es que casi ninguna de ellas son completamente malas, incluso la más floja es disfrutable sin problemas.

Eso es lo que pasa con Retribution o Contrarreloj en español. Estamos ante un film el cual para los estándares de Liam es un poco "lenta y tranquila" ya que acá no lo veremos dar un solo golpe por ejemplo, cosa que de por si ya es rara porque esa es una de sus grandes firmas. Pero hay que recordar que el tiempo no pasa en vano, Neeson tiene más de 70 años por lo que el cuerpo no es el mismo, hacer una película exigente físicamente creo que ya no está en los planes del actor estadounidense. Para que tengan referencia Taken salió en el 2008 y ya allí se veía con cierta edad. Aún así aquí estamos hablando de otro thriller en donde Liam tiene que evitar que parte de su familia muera. Sin más vayamos y hablemos un poco de este nuevo film.

Aquí es cuando el film podríamos decir que arranca, cuando se transforma en un thriller muy vertiginoso en donde el enemigo número uno es el tiempo. Veremos como Matt tratará de hacer lo posible e imposible para poder salir del infierno en el que está con la dificultad de que tiene a sus dos hijos en el asiento de atrás. Tengo que decir que es un film raro y lo digo por las conclusiones a las que llegué después de haberlo visto: es una película que ciertamente me entretuvo pero que en el fondo se que es cualquier cosa, no es una producción tan buena y que solamente la terminé de ver porque le quise ser fiel a Liam que a pesar de esto considero que se marcó una buena actuación.
This is when the film starts, when it becomes a fast-paced thriller where the number one enemy is time. We will see how Matt will try to do the possible and impossible to get out of the hell he is in with the difficulty that he has his two children in the back seat. I have to say that it is a strange film and I say this because of the conclusions I came to after having seen it: it is a film that certainly entertained me but deep down I know that it is anything but a good production and that I only finished watching it because I wanted to be faithful to Liam, who despite this I consider that he gave a good performance.
Todo el film se desarrolla dentro de un carro, allí es donde se desenvuelve todo. No hay grandes escenas de acción ni muy elaboradas, todo se centra en la llamada de esta persona anónima, estar concentrado con cumplir las peticiones y lo más importante: no bajarse del auto. Leyendo esto se pudiera pensar que la trama está muy limitada, y si, un poco la verdad, es cero profunda y va al grano, no le importa lo que se esté haciendo afuera del carro, todo eso cae en un segundo plano y eso es algo que no me gustó, mientras más información y contexto haya para mi siempre será mejor todo. Que pasa? - que a pesar de esto la historia se las ingenia para captar tu atención y que por lo menos no te aburras del todo, en mi caso logró que mantuviera cierta atención.
The whole film takes place inside a car, that's where everything unfolds. There are no big or very elaborate action scenes, everything is focused on the call of this anonymous person, being focused on fulfilling the requests and the most important thing: not getting out of the car. Reading this you might think that the plot is very limited, and yes, a little bit the truth, it is zero depth and goes to the point, it does not care what is being done outside the car, all that falls in the background and that is something that I did not like, the more information and context there is for me will always be better everything. What happens? - In spite of this, the story manages to capture your attention and at least keep you from getting bored, in my case it managed to keep my attention.
Como dije es muy plano todo, el guion es lo más básico que van a ver, es hasta predecible todo salvo llegando al final que hay una especie de plot twist que honestamente no me lo esperaba. El detalle es que esa sorpresa se va un poco a la basura con el cierre que buscaron darle, creo que lo peorcito de todo es precisamente la forma en como termina, no me convenció en lo absoluto, fue muy apresurado y poco creativo y repito, increíblemente predecible. Esto dañó la película? - no porque es complicado dañarla siendo lo que es, más bien hizo que alguna buena opinión extra que pudiera tener no haya sido posible.
As I said, everything is very flat, the script is the most basic thing you are going to see, it is even predictable, except at the end there is a kind of plot twist that I honestly did not expect. The detail is that this surprise goes a little bit to the trash with the closure they tried to give it, I think the worst of it all is precisely the way it ends, it did not convince me at all, it was very rushed and uncreative and I repeat, incredibly predictable. Did it hurt the movie? - No, because it is complicated to damage it being what it is, rather it made that any good extra opinion that I could have had was not possible.
Al no haber escenas que ameriten una reseña es complicado seguir hablando propiamente del film. Lo más destacable que hubo en este aspecto es un par de persecuciones que estuvieron bastante promedio, nada extraordinario y poco más la verdad. Es por esto que habría que hablar de Liam y de como llevó un papel en el que creo le vemos otra faceta a la que estamos acostumbrado de él. Por lo general sus personajes son físicos, siempre se desarrollan bajo la premisa de que las cosas se pueden resolver por la fuerza bruta, a punta de golpes pero este no es el caso. Aquí se ve a un Liam mucho más dramático, más sufrido y contra las cuerdas; son pocas veces en la que tiene la situación controlada.
Since there are no scenes that merit a review, it is difficult to continue talking about the film itself. The most remarkable thing in this aspect is a couple of chases that were pretty average, nothing extraordinary and little else really. That's why we should talk about Liam and how he handled a role in which I think we see another side to what we are used to him. Usually his characters are physical, always developed under the premise that things can be solved by brute force, at the point of blows but this is not the case. Here we see a much more dramatic Liam, more suffering and on the ropes; there are few times when he has the situation under control.
No hay mayor exigencia en su personaje, siempre va sentado manejando por lo que, por lo menos a mi, me pareció extraño. Creo que es una actuación decente a pesar de todo, llegas a empatizar con él un poco. De resto y como es casi rutinario en estas películas los personajes secundarios son eso, totalmente cero destacables. Algo que me estresó mucho es la policía, en este caso la agente que pone la cara, un sinsentido total, haciendo preguntas obvias, actuación tibia, cero pesa en la trama, más que ayudar era un estorbo. Sin dudas hay muchas cosas cuestionables acá pero bueno, entendemos que no todas las películas de Liam Neeson serán un éxito.
There's not much demand on his character, he's always sitting there driving so, at least to me, it seemed strange. I think it's a decent performance though, you get to empathize with him a bit. Otherwise, as is almost routine in these movies, the supporting characters are just that, totally unremarkable. Something that stressed me a lot is the police, in this case the agent who puts the face, a total nonsense, asking obvious questions, lukewarm performance, zero weight in the plot, rather than help was a hindrance. Undoubtedly there are many questionable things here but well, we understand that not all Liam Neeson movies will be a success.
Un 6/10 y es que no hay mucho lugar por donde agarrar este intento de película de acción. Puedo entender si no se animan a verla, en mi caso lo hice porque realmente y como lo he dejado bien claro a lo largo de la reseña, soy fanático del trabajo de Liam. Es un film de hora y media en donde existe un thriller que puede que mantenga tu atención y el cual es perfecto para pasar un rato cuando no hay nada que ver. Te dejo el tráiler acá abajo.
A 6/10 and there's not much of a place to grab this attempt at an action movie. I can understand if you don't want to see it, in my case I did because really and as I have made clear throughout the review, I am a fan of Liam's work. It's an hour and a half film where there is a thriller that might keep your attention and which is perfect to pass some time when there is nothing to watch. I'll leave the trailer below.

Primero: Soy fan de Liam Neeson ... He visto un montón de sus películas, recordando las mejores y... bueno, tratando de olvidar que no fueron; y aunque disfruto mucho de esas que por buenas siempre quedaran en mi memoria, eventualmente siento que es como la misma cara una y otra vez... y otra vez. Pero no puedo evitar pues entregarle siempre esa hora y media de mi vida a una nueva cartelera con su nombre.
CONTRARRELOJ se estrenó en agosto 2023 y pensé que además de ser otra película de Liam Neeson, también otra película de un hombre al que le colocan una bomba y tiene que hacer una serie de cosas, bajo la amenaza del otro lado de un teléfono móvil de volarlo en pedazos. Aún así, no me detuve y seguí viendo CONTRARRELOJ y debo confesar que no me arrepentí. No me sorprendí, pero tampoco me arrepentí, y a continuación les cuento.

Still, I didn't stop and continued watching RETRIBUTION and I must confess that I didn't regret it. I wasn't surprised, but I didn't regret it either, and I'll tell you below.
Retribution o como se conoce en español Contrarreloj, como les dije es lo último que ha salido con Liam Neeson de protagonista, interpretando a Matt Turner un corredor o asesor financiero de mucho éxito con un estilo de vida costoso, una hermosa casa, una esposa, una hija y un hijo adolescente, que tienen una dinámica familiar muy difícil entre ellos, ya que Matt se dedica mucho a su trabajo y descuida mucho a su familia.
De primer momento me inquietó mucho ver a Liam tan mayor, es una persona bastante mayor ya, y me preguntaba ¿qué tanta acción podía darle a esta película? Su papel de padre de estos dos chicos, es bastante raro, porque podría ser su abuelo fácilmente, y verlo peleando nuevamente no iba a ser lo más lindo de ver. Afortunadamente, no se atrevieron a tanto en Contrarreloj, y la acción que brindó el personaje de Liam no fue tan descabellado en ese sentido.

Para salvar sus vidas debe seguir una serie de instrucciones... Sí, un planteamiento que ya hemos visto muchas veces.
Puedo decirles que toda la acción sucede en el carro, tampoco fue que hubo tanta acción, ni hizo gala de tantos efectos especiales a los que ya estaba acostumbrada con Liam Neeson. La trama algo plana, sí brindó un giro al final para resolver la película.

De la actuación de Liam Neeson, puedo decir que vi un poco más de expresiones de parte del actor ya no tan enigmático por la edad tan avanzada que tiene. Aunque lo admiro mucho, a veces llegaba a ser la misma cara una y otra vez, como lo fue en su momento Steven Seagal, actor que si llegó a aburrirme antes de que terminaran sus películas.
También tenía la misma opinión de Nicolas Cage, que era la misma cara siempre, aunque él si ha interpretado papeles más característicos en cuanto a personajes.
Liam Neeson en Contrarreloj, lo vi con algo más de interpretación, toda la que pudo darle a Matt Turner sentado en un carro durante prácticamente toda la película.

Algo que no me gustó en Contrarreloj, y que estoy viendo en algunas películas actualmente, es que tratan de incorporar el factor familia dentro de la trama, pero muchas veces los personajes como tal no tienen una dinámica o guion que nos haga sentir ese factor diferencial. En este punto recuerdo recientemente a Evil Dead El Despertar, donde era una familia, pero en medio de toda la película no hubo tantas conexiones emocionales cuando se perdía a un personaje.
En Contrarreloj, los dos hijos de Matt Turner en la parte de atrás realmente no aportan nada a la película, el hijo adolescente no tiene ni diálogos, ni decisiones, ni aportaba ideas, nada, absolutamente nada. Y la niña tal vez si hubo un poco más de conexión con Matt, solo un poco más, pero si estos dos personajes se hubiesen omitido de toda la película, no hubiese sido muy diferente el resultado.
Something that I didn't like in Retribution, and that I'm seeing in some movies currently, is that they try to incorporate the family factor into the plot, but many times the characters as such do not have a dynamic or script that makes us feel that differentiating factor. . In Retribution, Matt Turner's two sons in the back really don't contribute anything to the film, the teenage son has no dialogue, no decisions, no ideas, nothing, absolutely nothing. And the girl maybe there was a little more connection with Matt, just a little more, but if these two characters had been omitted from the entire movie, the result would not have been very different.
Los planos de toda la película son espectaculares, tanto los planos cenitales, los acercamientos absolutos, los cambios de cámara, la iluminación, todo esto me gustó mucho.
WHAT I LIKED:
The shots throughout the film are spectacular, both the overhead shots, the absolute close-ups, the camera changes, the lighting, I really liked all of this.
La trama tan usada de la bomba en el carro y la amenaza de un desconocido al teléfono.
Lo predecible, ciertamente pude predecir el final de la película en cuanto a quién era la voz desconocida en el teléfono.
Los personajes débiles en la trama, como la esposa de Matt y los mismos hijos.
El final, aunque entiendo que no todas las películas deban dar un final como de "dos semanas después" o algo así, en esta película me hubiese gustado saber cómo queda Matt ante la justicia, si logra limpiar su nombre de todo en lo que se vio involucrado.
THAT I DID NOT LIKE

The ending, although I understand that not all movies should have an ending like "two weeks later" or something like that, in this movie I would have liked to know how Matt stands before justice, if he manages to clear his name from everything he's involved in. was involved.
En conclusión, ciertamente si fue "OTRA PELÍCULA DE LIAM NEESON" pero no está mal para disfrutarla en tu casa, para distraerte esos 90 minutos que duró, nada memorable, deseo que ya no lo hagan más porque sería como uno dice "estirar mucho el chicle". Seguiré recordando a Liam Neeson por sus películas de "Búsqueda Implacable" las cuales me atrevo a ver una y otra vez.

This is a thriller film that is a free adaptation of the 2015 Spanish film "El desconocido", which is directed by Nimród Antal, known for writing and directing the multi-award winning film Kontroll and Predators in 2010.
The plot revolves around Matt Turner, played by Liam Neeson, a businessman living in Berlin, who on a routine day, when it is his turn to take the kids to school receives a call from a mysterious man where he tells him that in the driver's seat of his car there is a bomb.
In order for it not to explode or be activated by remote control by him, he must comply with orders that he gives him.
In this way he is involved in a series of actions in which the partners of the company where he works die and are blamed by the press and the police on him.
His children in the back seat, played by Jack Champion (Avatar: The Sense of Water, 2022) and Lilly Aspell (Wonder Woman 1984, 2020), live and see the horror of the events.
