I'm finally dusting off my to-watch list. Here's one I recently finished, and I have to say it's pretty good. It has everything I love: sci-fi, drama, romance, and suspense.
Finalmente estoy desempolvando mi lista de series por ver. Aquí tenemos una que terminé recientemente y debo decir que es bastante buena, tiene todo lo que me encanta, ciencia ficción, drama, romance, suspenso.
Sense8 is a series centered around eight complete strangers scattered around the world. These people have a mental and emotional connection, and thanks to this strong connection, they are all able to share their skills, knowledge, and even feelings, regardless of the distance.

Sense8 es una serie que su trama gira entorno a 8 personas totalmente desconocidas y esparcidas por el mundo. Estas personas tienen una conexión mental y emocional, gracias a esta gran conexión todos ellos son capaces de compartir sus habilidades, conocimientos y hasta sentimientos sin importar la distancia.

In the series, they explain that these types of people are known as "sensates" and are part of another kind of evolution where they interact in a different way, as mentioned before, like a kind of telepathy but on a much deeper level.
I didn't really know what to expect from the series, but it has a bit of everything. It shows you a glimpse of the world, the culture, the conflicts that arise due to the existence of these beings, since there is an organization hunting them.
En la serie explican que a este tipo de personas se les conoce como ‘sensates’ y forman parte de lo que es otra especie de evolución donde interactúan de una manera diferente, tal como se mencionó antes, como una especie de telepatía pero a un nivel mucho más profundo.
No sabía que esperar realmente de la serie pero tiene un poco de todo, te muestra un poco del mundo, la cultura, los conflictos que se generan debido a la existencia de estos seres, ya que hay una organización cazándolos.
This series is a safe recommendation for me; it's quite entertaining and truly has everything. I must clarify that it's a series for those 18+, as it has some very strong scenes, in addition to exploring themes of sexuality and gender identity. It also touches on topics related to politics, religion, corruption, etc.
It has quite a few criticisms of certain institutions and shows very real parts of life. This makes it a good series, and the experience it offers while watching is on another level.
An interesting fact is that, as I mentioned before, these eight people are scattered around the world. All scenes were filmed in the corresponding countries and with local actors, so they give us a true look at the countries and their cultures. Another fact is that this series had been canceled, but due to the multiple worldwide protests that resulted from its cancellation, they had to restart it, closing with a final episode that lasted more than two hours.
Esta serie para mi es una recomendación segura, es bastante entretenida y tiene realmente de todo. Ciertamente debo aclarar que es una serie para +18 años ya que tiene escenas bastante fuertes, ademas de explorar los temas de la sexualidad y la identidad de género. Por otro lado toca temas acerca de la política, la religión, la corrupción, etc.
Tienen bastantes criticas hacia ciertas instituciones, muestra partes muy reales de la vida. Esto lo hace una buena serie, además la experiencia que te brinda mientras mira la serie es de otro nivel.
Unos datos curiosos, es que como mencioné antes estas 8 personas están esparcidas alrededor del mundo. Pues todas escenas fueron grabadas en los países correspondientes y con actores locales, así que nos dan una mirada verdadera de los países y de la cultura. Otro dato es que esta serie había sido cancelada pero por las múltiples protestas a nivel mundial que generó esta cancelación tuvieron que reanudarla, cerrando con un último capítulo que duró más de 2 horas.
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great today! This time I want to share with you my review, with my personal opinions, about the series: Sense8, a Netflix series, which is a little bit old, it premiered approximately in 2015, I watched it a few years ago with my girlfriend, since she loved it, and I still remember that experience.... I feel like this series is a really immersive experience... the main premise revolves around 8 characters who are interconnected in a very special way, able to enter each other's minds and share skills and experiences (this can be a lot of fun, haha).
From the beginning, this series can grab you with its somewhat different approach and its ability to explore complex issues, such as identity, sexuality and human connection between people who don't even know each other, they are really different in all areas, it's like they put together people who would never get along, haha... The narrative may seem a bit confusing at the beginning, especially when we try to understand how the characters interact with each other, and how these psychic connections affect their lives, but little by little they have to get used to it, and, therefore, we also get used to it, obvious... One of the strong points that I could appreciate in this series, is its incredible character development, each of the eight main characters is deeply interesting, they have personal stories and at the same time they manage to intertwine with those of the other members of the group.

En esta ocasión les quiero compartir mi reseña, con mis opiniones personales, sobre la serie: Sense8, una serie de Netflix, la cual es un poquito antigua, se estrenó aproximadamente en el 2015, yo la vi hace unos cuantos años con mí novia, ya que a ella le encantó, y aún recuerdo mucho esa experiencia.. Siento que esta serie es una experiencia realmente envolvente... la premisa principal gira en torno a 8 personajes que están interconectados de una manera muy especial, capaces de entrar en las mentes de los otros y compartir habilidades y experiencias (esto puede ser muy divertido, jaja).
Desde el principio, esta serie puede atraparte con su propuesta algo diferente y su capacidad de explorar temas complejos, como la identidad, la sexualidad y la conexión humana entre personas que ni siquiera se conocen, son realmente diferentes en todos los ámbitos, es como si juntaran personas que nunca se llevarían bien, jaja.. La narrativa puede parecer algo confusa al inicio, especialmente cuando tratamos de entender cómo es que los personajes interactúan entre sí, y cómo estas conexiones psíquicas van afectando sus diversas vidas, pero poco a poco estos tienen que acostumbrarse a ello, y, por lo tanto, nosotros también nos acostumbramos a ello, obvio.. Uno de los puntos fuertes que pude apreciar de esta serie, es su increíble desarrollo de personajes, cada uno de los ocho protagonistas es profundamente interesante, tienen historias personales y al mismo tiempo logran entrelazarse con las de los demás miembros del grupo.
I thought the cast of this series was phenomenal, with standout performances that brought a lot of depth and realism to the characters.... For example, Will, as the American cop, Riley, as the Icelandic DJ, Sun, the Korean martial arts expert businesswoman, are just some of the characters that shine the most in their roles, but equally I feel that all of the characters in this series are very well constructed.... I feel that the series managed to stand out in terms of representation and inclusion, it was one of the first TV series to feature a transgender character, clearly played by a transgender actress, of course.
One of the most interesting aspects of Sense8 is its production, this series was filmed in multiple locations around the world, it takes you to Berlin, passing through beautiful streets of Mumbai and transports you to beautiful skyscrapers in Asia. This series has a global focus that not only gives it a sense of authenticity, but also highlights a lot of the differences and similarities between the characters. The soundtrack was good, throughout the episodes, the music plays a crucial role in the narrative... there are very memorable scenes that go from action moments to more emotional sequences, and always the action scenes are the ones I like the most. This music thing, it's something that reflects a lot of the emotional tone of the series and allows you to connect more with these characters.
El reparto de esta serie me pareció fenomenal, con actuaciones destacadas que aportaron mucha profundidad y realismo a los personajes... Por ejemplo, Will, como el policía americano, Riley, como la DJ islandesa, Sun, la empresaria experta en artes marciales coreanas, son solo algunos de los personajes que brillan más en sus roles, pero de igual manera considero que todos los personajes de esta serie están muy bien construidos.. Siento que la serie logró destacar en cuanto a la representación y la inclusión, fue de las primeras series de televisión en presentar a un personaje transgénero, interpretado claramente por una actriz transgénero, claro.
Uno de los aspectos más interesantes de Sense8 es su producción, esta serie fue filmada en múltiples locaciones alrededor del mundo, te lleva a Berlín, pasando por hermosas calles de Mumbai y te transporta a hermosos rascacielos de Asia. Esta serie tiene un enfoque global que no solo le da una sensación de autenticidad, sino que también destaca mucho las diferencias y similitudes entre los personajes. La banda sonora estuvo buena, a lo largo de los episodios, la música juega un papel crucial en la narrativa.. hay escenas muy memorables que pasan desde momentos de acción hasta secuencias más emocionales, y siempre las escenas de acción son las que más me gustan. Esto de la música, es algo que refleja mucho el tono emocional de la serie y permite conectar más con estos personajes.
Obviously, this series, like many other productions, is not without some negative criticisms, for example, some viewers may find that the plot takes a while to develop and that the first few episodes are a bit slow. This is something I do somewhat agree with, as it is normal for the first few episodes to be a bit introductory, and in this case, well, it is used to introduce the characters and this new connection. While I find that it didn't feel too slow to me, it is possible that for some other people hungry for action and suspense it may feel like a more leisurely pace.
Also, the series tackles a multitude of topics and at times can feel like it tries to cover too much, which can sometimes be overwhelming for a certain type of audience.. however, for those who are willing to invest a little time, I think the series offers a lot of narrative depth. Another thing, Sense8 also offers very good action scenes, it's not just emotional drama, it's also filled with some very well choreographed and exciting action sequences.
Each character's unique abilities are used very creatively in the fight scenes and also in the chases, which adds an extra layer of dynamism that is very enjoyable to watch. My favorite scenes were Sun's scenes, they are really impressive and show off his martial arts skills very well, which are visually stunning, I feel like they are seamlessly integrated into the plot, without looking like they were introduced randomly.
Obviamente, esta serie, como muchas otras producciones, no está libre de algunas críticas negativas, por ejemplo, algunos espectadores pueden encontrar que la trama tarda en desarrollarse y que los primeros episodios son algo lentos. Esto es algo con lo que sí estoy un poco de acuerdo, ya que es normal que los primeros episodios sean un poco introductorios, y en este caso, pues, se utiliza para introducir a los personajes y a esta nueva conexión. Otra cosa, Sense8 ofrece también muy buenas escenas de acción, no es solo drama emocional, también está llena de algunas secuencias de acción muy bien coreografiadas y emocionantes.
Las habilidades únicas de cada personaje se utilizan de manera muy creativa en las escenas de combate y también en las persecuciones, lo que añade una capa adicional de dinamismo que es muy disfrutable de ver. Mis escenas favoritas fueron las escenas de Sun, son realmente impresionantes y muestran muy bien sus habilidades de artes marciales, que son visualmente asombrosas, siento que están integradas perfectamente a la trama, sin parecer que se introdujeron de manera aleatoria.
As for the depiction of sexuality and interpersonal relationships, this one is not afraid of anything and is very open to showing very, very racy scenes. The series presents a variety of romantic and sexual relationships, including conventional and not so conventional relationships, and does so in a very authentic way, but I do feel it can be shocking to an audience that may not be used to seeing a lot of nude scenes within television.... Obviously, this series is for adults, do not even think of watching it in the presence of a child, because as I say, this series is not afraid at all to show nudity, and explicit scenes. Although they may seem a little unnecessary at times, I personally didn't mind them, I feel that they knew how to integrate them properly, and not in a way that seems like they just came to mind and aja.
In terms of narrative, I feel it is very ambitious, the main plot involves a global conspiracy and a very mysterious terrible organization that tries to capture all these people who share sensations and are known as “Sensates”, thus providing a story with enough tension and mystery so that it can keep the viewer's interest. However, I think what shines the most in this series are the personal stories and interactions between these characters, which really drive the series...the way they managed to deliver these individual stories in a cohesive narrative, is a giant test of great writing skill.
But, to me, it felt like the series finale went on too long and I feel like it didn't end up shining the way I would have liked it to. This was mainly due to the initial cancellation of this production and although they did wrap up some plots nicely, I feel like I was expecting a little more...I think many other fans of this series will agree with me. The final 2 hour episode was excellent and I didn't think it had bad quality, but there is something inside me that tells me it could have been much better.
En cuanto a la representación de la sexualidad y las relaciones interpersonales, esta no le teme a nada y es muy abierta a mostrar escenas muy, pero muy subidas de tono. La serie presenta una variedad de relaciones románticas y sexuales, incluyendo relaciones convencionales y no tan convencionales, y lo hace de una manera muy auténtica, pero sí considero que puede ser impactante para un público que tal vez no esté acostumbrado a ver muchas escenas de desnudos dentro de la televisión... Obviamente, esta serie es para mayores de edad, ni se les ocurra verla en presencia de algún niño, ya que como les digo, esta serie no le teme para nada en mostrar desnudos, y escenas explícitas. Aunque pueden parecer un poco innecesarias en algunas ocasiones, a mí personalmente no me molestaron, siento que si supieron integrarlas de manera adecuada, y no de una manera que parezca que simplemente se les vino a la cabeza y ajá.
En términos de narrativa, siento que es muy ambiciosa, la trama principal implica una conspiración global y una terrible organización muy misteriosa que intenta capturar a todas estas personas que comparten sensaciones y que son conocidas como "Sensates", proporcionando así una historia con suficiente tensión y misterio para que pueda mantener el interés del espectador. Sin embargo, creo que lo que más brilla en esta serie son las historias personales y las interacciones entre estos personajes, lo que realmente impulsan la serie... la forma en la que lograron entregar estas historias individuales en una narrativa coherente, es una prueba gigante de una gran habilidad de escritura.
Pero, a mí me pareció que el final de la serie se extendió mucho y siento que no terminó de brillar como me fuera gustado. Esto se debió principalmente a la cancelación inicial de esta producción y aunque sí cerraron de buena manera algunas tramas, siento que esperaba un poco más..creo que muchos otros fanáticos de esta serie estarán de acuerdo conmigo. El episodio final de 2 horas fue excelente y no me pareció que tuviera mala calidad, pero hay algo dentro de mí que me dice que pudo ser mucho mejor.
Sense8 is a series that truly defies convention and offers a unique television experience. With a focus on diversity, representation and clearly on human connection, the series not only entertains, but also invites you to reflect a little on what is current affairs today.... While it may obviously not be for everyone, those who dare to immerse themselves in its world will surely find a unique and exciting story that will stay with you for some time to come... if I had to rate Sense8, I would give it an 8.5/10.

Sense8 es una serie que realmente desafía las convenciones y ofrece una experiencia televisiva única. Con un enfoque en la diversidad, la representación y claramente en la conexión humana, la serie no solo entretiene, sino que también te invita a reflexionar un poco sobre lo que es la actualidad hoy en día... Aunque puede obviamente no ser para todos, aquellos que se atrevan a sumergirse en su mundo seguramente encontrarán una historia única y emocionante que quedara con ustedes por algún tiempo.. si tuviera que calificar a Sense8, le pondría un 8.5/10.
Es una serie que, a pesar de sus imperfecciones, brilla mucho por su ambición, su corazón, sus personajes, su buena música, y por tocar unos temas muy importantes de manera significativa. ›¿Por qué Sense8 es tan asombrosa? [Review de la mítica serie de Netflix]@linarev1105d
Lo primero que debo decir, es que Sense8 fue la serie que me motivó a contratar el gigante del streaming #Netflix y creo que es una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado en cuanto a mi entretenimiento.
Sense8 es una verdadera obra de arte, parece mentira que una producción audiovisual de ciencia ficción pudiera contener tantas aristas y subtramas que se volvieron importantísimas a medida de que la producción avanzaba. Acabo de volverla a ver, desde que finalizó en el 2016. Es difícil catalogar la serie, es muy complicado encasillarla en un género como drama, acción o romance, tiene eso y mucho más: es una obra que está marcada por la intriga y el misterio, pero a ratos es una vertiginosa producción de acción con escenas muy bien conseguidas y de repente el ritmo baja para ser un show marcado por el romance, la ilusión y el color rosa. No obstante, se queda corta esa descripción, nos podemos topar con giros de trama maravillosos, vernos envueltos en frenéticas persecuciones policiales, criminales o de supervivencia, entrar en un entorno melancólico y depresivo, sumergirnos en el mundo frívolo de la farándula, explorar las mafias europeas y el acoso corporativo norteamericano, todo bajo la perspectiva de ocho personajes extraordinariamente desarrollados.
Pero... ¿De que va la serie?
Esta pregunta no es fácil de responder, puedo empezar diciendo que es una creación de las Hermanas Wachowski, lo cual nos puede dar una idea del espíritu creativo que rodea el universo de la serie que gira en torno a ocho personas, cuatro mujeres y cuatro hombres, que nacieron un 8 de agosto de 1988 en distintas partes del mundo (Islandia, México, San Francisco, Chicago, Kenia, La India, Korea del Sur y Alemania) y que al inicio de la producción se conectan por medio de un evento místico-sensitivo y que empiezan a tener de forma aparentemente "aleatoria" experiencias desconocidas en su cultura, idiosincrasia y costumbres, teniendo de fondo el macroconflicto de que una organización poderosa, vinculada a la política, la ciencia y a las grandes corporaciones, los busca para experimentar con ellos y usar sus habilidades. Como no está claro el funcionamiento de esas habilidades, el resultado es un asesinato cerebral, que evidentemente atenta contra los Sensates. Todo eso se mezcla con los diferentes conflictos que vive cada personaje y por ello la trama de la persecución parece desvanecerse entre el desarrollo de la cotidianidad.
En Alemania, Wolfgang arrastra el trauma de un padre maltratador y busca la aprobación propia tratando de superarlo como ladrón de cajas fuertes. Un robo de diamantes, lo sumerge en una espiral de violencia y venganza de mafias del centro de Europa.
En Korea del Sur, Sun, drena la pérdida de su madre, el desamor de su padre y la carga de un hermano inútil, siendo una peleadora magistral. En contra de su voluntad debe sacrificarse por los hombres de la familia, aceptando la realidad social del desprecio hacia la mujer.
En México, Lito, un actor en ascenso, se preocupa por parecer el macho símbolo sexual al tiempo que oculta su relación monogámica homosexual en un país lleno de machismo y prejuicios, en un negocio que no entiende la diversidad.
En Chicago, Will, lucha con su lado rebelde y trata de ser un policía de bien en una ciudad deshumanizada por la violencia entre las pandillas. El conflicto de Will es el principal de todos los sensates porque de alguna forma él va hilvanando los hilos para reunirlos. Su principal misión en la serie es descubrir esa conexión, que para él no empezó con la serie, sino que lo ha marcado desde el pasado.
En Bombay, Kala, está a punto de casarse con un hombre encantador quien está perdidamente enamorado de ella, en el momento en que su principal preocupación es la profesión por la que luchó y su trabajo como química. Se debate entre lo que siente (que no es amor) y lo que la familia y la sociedad espera.
En Londres, Riley, una exitosa Dj, se ve envuelta en una disputa entre negocios de drogas y acaba en medio de una balacera en la que sale ilesa. Ese acontecimiento traumático la hará tomar una mala decisión, que la convertirá en el ratón perseguido por un gato. Es oriunda de Islandia, su sitio natal le entrega una paz y un tormento indescriptible, por un pasado del que no se puede desprender.
En Nairobi, Capheus, busca ganarse la vida para poder ayudar a su madre quien vive con VIH, se expone constantemente a las injusticias de un país cuya pobreza está inducida por las mafias farmacéuticas y la violencia social. Es un optimista sin remedio.
En San Francisco, Nomi, trata de olvidar su pasado en una relación de ensueño con su novia Amanita, pero es la primera Sensate localizada por la "compañía" y su viaje se vuelve por la supervivencia. Es transexual y parte de su destino está marcado por la aceptación y la transfobia.
El seriado se pasea por varios tópicos como el romance, la sexualidad, la aceptación, la identidad, la discriminación, la misoginia, la mafia, el submundo de las drogas, el machismo, la política, la conspiración, el drama, el soft porn, la trama policial y detectivesca, la melancolía y la tristeza. Es poderosamente conmovedora y ardientemente sensual. Puede ser emocionante y reflexiva, todo potenciado con personajes sólidos, un guión convincente y una banda sonora mucho más que apropiada: ideal.
El trabajo de edición es sublime, pasar desde México a Berlín, de Seul a San Francisco o de Nairobi a Bombay en la misma escena es simplemente sublime, es el metamensaje de romper las fronteras, que no existan barreras y las clases no separen. La serie es una extraordinaria metáfora de todo lo que debería ser un mundo mejor, un mundo donde las personas se acepten, se ayuden, sientan el mal ajeno y celebren la diversidad.
Los personajes son diversos, no hay héroes, no hay princesas, no hay extremos, son personajes grises, reales, verdaderos, con sus demonios, sus manchas y sus arrepentimientos. Es una serie que vale la pena ver, claramente cada personaje tiene su propio universo y fácilmente se podría hacer un capítulo profundizando en cada uno, pero Las Wachowski decidieron darnos esta serie coral que es un deleite para los sentidos, una montaña rusa de sensaciones y mezclarnos a todos desde el inicio para que se haga mucho más difícil decidir cual protagonista nos gusta más, porque de hecho, todos tienen la misma importancia en el peso del argumento, todos tienen personajes de soporte y cada cual cuenta con su escenario de desarrollo, lo cual es algo, muy complicado de lograr en una serie coral.
Yes, I rewatched Sense8, and honestly, I forgot how many times I have already watched it, this is one of the comfort series that I watch when I am not at my best, and even though I am at my best now, I wanted to watch it anyway, with Sense8 I think I have closed a cycle of rewatching series and movies that I had already watched years ago, so that's why I am here doing this review that I wanted to do since many years ago.
Sense8 is too many good things to be described in a few words, but following the synopsis of the series, Sense8 is about a group of people who find themselves mentally connected from one day to the next, and together they must try to survive in a world where they are seen as a threat.
I first became aware of the existence of this series in January 2017 when I read about the fact that the second season was going to be released in May of that year, and that the special episode had already been released last December, as a person aware of the intensity of their addictions, I didn't watch anything until the second season was released and then I hated Netflix for canceling it, well, I still HATE Netflix, but not as much as before.
Sí, volví a ver Sense8, y sinceramente, olvidé cuántas veces la he visto ya, esta es una de mis comfort series que veo cuando no estoy en mis mejores momentos, y aunque ahora sí estoy en mis mejores momentos, la quise ver de todas formas, con Sense8 creo haber cerrado un ciclo de volver a ver series y películas que ya había visto hace años, así que por eso estoy aquí haciendo esta reseña que quería hacer desde hace muchos años.
Sense8 es demasiadas cosas buenas como para que se pueda describir en pocas palabras, pero siguiendo la sinopsis de la serie, Sense8 trata sobre un grupo de personas que se ven conectadas mentalmente de un día para otro, y juntxs deben tratar de sobrevivir en mundo donde se les ve como una amenaza.
Yo me enteré de la existencia de esta serie en enero del 2017 cuando leí sobre el hecho de la segunda temporada iba a ser estrenada en mayo de ese año, y que ya se había estrenado el capítulo especial el diciembre pasado, como persona consciente de la intensidad de sus adicciones, no vi nada hasta que se estrenó la segunda temporada y después odié a Netflix por cancelarla, bueno, sigo Odiando a Netflix, pero no tanto como antes.
Yes, even though I've watched this series many times I still get excited as if it was the first time, I still cry as if it was the first time, and I love it as if it was the first time. The concept of the series is an amazing thing that deserves to be loved, and I hate you Netflix for canceling it.
8 strangers from 8 different cities find themselves mentally connected and don't know what the fuck is going on. That beginning is one of the slowest, the middle of the first season is very slow, and that's why a lot of people stop watching and don't give the series a more than deserved chance to finish watching it. That slowness is fair and necessary, we are in the middle of 8 people, we are getting to know those 8 people and those 8 people are getting to know each other, don't expect action sequences, drama and suspense from the beginning, you have to give the series time to follow its own pace and not become something that doesn't represent it.
Nomi, Lito, Riley, Will, Sun, Kala, Wolfgang, and Capheus are going to be our 8 sensates, the cluster that we are going to be linked to, each one of them is completely different from the rest and that's one of the reasons why they are in the situation they are in at that moment, one needs the other and they don't even know it, so through that mental/sensory/sentimental connection they have they will come to give and receive a necessary help to be able to continue having decent and dignified lives, because the world sees them as a threat and will do whatever it takes to capture them and prevent the world from knowing of their existence.

Esa lentiudad es justa y necesaria, estamos en medio de 8 personas, estamos conociendo a esas 8 personas y esas 8 personas se están conociendo entre ellas, no esperes secuencias de acción, drama y suspenso desde el principio, tienes que darle tiempo a la serie de que siga su propio ritmo y no se convierta en algo que no la resepresente de verdad.

This is a series that is for sexual diversity, gender diversity, gender expression, and whatever else they feel like that is different in the world, and the reason it is hated is the fact that it is different in the end. One of my favorite things about the series is the fact that they make us see the reality that everyone is different, no matter if they are cis-hetero or cis gay, queer or not, even if a group of people is classified under the same label, they are still completely different people from each other, and that often we forget, and it is something that the series reminds us in a very subtle way.

Obviamente esta es una serie que está en pro de la diversidad sexual, de género, de expresión de género, y todo lo que les de la gana que es diferente en el mundo, y que por la razón de que es odiado es el hecho de que es diferente, fin. Sense8 isn't going to appeal to everyone. What's more, the majority will flee after seeing the pilot. Released on June 5, 2015, it is a series directed by the Wachowski sisters, the same ones who made The Matrix and many other classics. It is a series produced by Netflix. It has two seasons, plus a final 2-hour chapter. The issue was that for economic reasons on June 1, 2017, Netflix announced the cancellation of the series, leaving the plot open. 2 weeks ago I started to watch this old Netflix series from 2015 mainly because I am a big fan of the Wachowskis thanks to the Matrix trilogy, but also because I remember watching some episodes of season one several years ago but never finished watching this story. When I rediscovered this series 2 weeks ago because, to be honest, I had completely forgotten about it, I knew I had to watch it from the beginning.
What is the plot all about?
Knowing this is a production by the Wachowskis already implies the plot is going to have a lot of scifi in it. The scifi part of this series consists of a telepathic connection between a special group of human beings known as sensates. In this fictional world, there are 2 types of humans. Sapiens, who are the normal ones like you and me, and sensates who can develop these abilities and live in constant fear of being hunted down by an evil and powerful organization. That sounded generic but that's exactly the type of villain this series has.
All sensates are members of a small cluster with other sensates that were born at the exact same moment as them. The members of the cluster are like brothers and sisters to each other. However, it is also possible to develop a similar telepathic connection with members of another cluster if both sensates make eye contact with each other.
This special ability that only sensates can develop is extremely valuable and could easily be weaponized for any type of means. There are several examples of this happening throughout the series, and I honestly don't understand how the sensates are in such a vulnerable position in today's society given the fact they have existed for a long long time. I believe it would be much more likely to see sensates organizing in groups and strategically taking over every major organization there is. In the series, not every sensate lives in fear though, there are some of them who have a lot of influence and power but they are always the bad guys. Good sensates live constantly scared of being found out or hunted down and in some cases, they even hide like Jews during the Nazi purge.
Hace 2 semanas comencé a ver esta vieja serie de Netflix de 2015 principalmente porque soy un gran fan de los Wachowskis gracias a la trilogía Matrix, pero también porque recuerdo haber visto algunos episodios de la primera temporada hace varios años pero nunca terminé de ver esta historia. Cuando redescubrí esta serie hace 2 semanas porque, para ser honesto, se me había olvidado por completo, sabía que tenía que verla desde el principio.

Eso suena genérico, pero ese es exactamente el tipo de villano que tiene esta serie.
Todos los sensoriales son miembros de un pequeño grupo con otros sensoriales que nacieron exactamente en el mismo momento que ellos. Los miembros del grupo son como hermanos entre sí. Sin embargo, también es posible desarrollar una conexión telepática similar con miembros de otro grupo si ambos sensoriales hacen contacto visual entre sí.
Esta habilidad especial que solo los sensoriales pueden desarrollar es extremadamente valiosa y podría fácilmente ser utilizada como arma para cualquier tipo de fin. My thoughts about Season 2
As I mentioned in my article about season 1, I didn't like the fact that this is, above all, a scifi series but this didn't stop the Wachowskis from preoccupying themselves with adding tons and tons of content on LGBT drama. I don't really think there are that many homophobic people in the West, especially nowadays, but in this show, the 2 homosexual couples suffer a lot of problems in their personal lives thanks to their sexuality. These 2 couples consist of 2 gay men, and the other couple is between 2 lesbian women one of them being a transexual woman. It starts to get tiresome after a while and this doesn't change in season 2. The Wachowskis clearly wanted to score a lot of Woke points by glorifying poly relationships and tacitly criticizing conservative monogamous relationships.
I also noticed that in season 2, every episode loses precious minutes in meaningless and pointless scenes that don't advance the plot and are pretty much useless. I did a mental calculation and most episodes lose about 5 minutes in silly scenes, which means more than 1-hour per season. With such a complex scifi plot losing minutes in this type of scenes isn't worth it in my opinion. What's worse is that they ended up rushing the ending and major events felt like they were simplified or not properly told, and this was because they simply run out of time to tell the proper plot. They even had to make a special final episode that ran for more than 2 hours to give the fans a "proper" ending.
Given the fact the episodes of this series last more than 50 minutes each, and there are 12 episodes per season instead of the usual 10, and that the first and last episodes of season 2 last more than 2 hours each, it is really hard to understand how the Wachowskis could have run out of time to tell the proper story. But if you notice all the time they waste in silly scenes that don't do anything to advance the plot or entertain the viewers, then running out of time becomes inevitable. Ultimately, this feels like it could have been a masterpiece of the scifi genre but sadly the Wachowskis gave more priority to other parts of the story and not the scifi plot.
This doesn't mean there are not good things about the series. The scope of the setting is vast with scenes taking place in a lot of different countries and the way this telepathic integration within the main cluster is portrayed is quite fun and original. Sense8 provides a new type of action scene that is only possible thanks to its unique scifi plot. This could be compared with the original action scenes in some of Cristopher Nolan's films such as Inception or Tenet, which are only possible thanks to their corresponding scifi plot. Something similar happens in Sense8.
Mis pensamientos sobre la temporada 2
Como mencioné en mi artículo sobre la temporada 1, no me gustó el hecho de que esta es, sobre todo, una serie de ciencia ficción, pero esto no impidió que los Wachowski se preocuparan por agregar toneladas y toneladas de contenido sobre drama LGBT. Realmente no creo que haya tanta gente homofóbica en Occidente, especialmente hoy en día, pero en este programa, las 2 parejas homosexuales sufren muchos problemas en su vida personal gracias a su sexualidad. Lo peor es que terminaron apresurando el final y los eventos importantes se sintieron simplificados o no contados correctamente, y esto se debió a que simplemente se les acabó el tiempo para contar la trama adecuada. Incluso tuvieron que hacer un episodio final especial que duró más de 2 horas para darles a los fans un final "apropiado".
Dado que los episodios de esta serie duran más de 50 minutos cada uno, y hay 12 episodios por temporada en lugar de los 10 habituales, y que el primer y último episodio de la temporada 2 duran más de 2 horas cada uno, es realmente difícil comprender cómo a los Wachowski se les pudo haber acabado el tiempo para contar la historia adecuada. I would recommend this series only to people who are hardcore fans of the scifi genre and are interested in the special connection that sensates can develop. Have in mind you will have to tolerate a lot of nonsense and silly scenes throughout the entire series which is the thing I disliked the most. The scifi plot was quite original and is another example of the great creativity the Wachowskis sisters have. Maybe my expectations were too high, but since the Matrix was such a good trilogy I wanted to see this newer creation from the same people and now that I have watched it all, I am kind of disappointed.
Well known people involved in the series
I didn't know any of the actors before watching this series with the exception of an Indian guy playing a secondary character that I knew of from the Lost series. The rest of the cast was entirely new for me.
The creators of the show, on the other hand, are very popular and most people know about them or at least about their best work so far which is the Matrix trilogy. However, I am afraid of Lana Wachowski ruining the Matrix trilogy with the upcoming Matrix 4. Her sister Lilly won't be involved in this movie so it is up to Lana to expand this awesome trilogy without screwing it. After watching Sense8 I am actually kind of nervous about it.
Recomendaría esta serie solo a las personas que son fanáticos incondicionales del género de ciencia ficción y están interesados en la conexión especial que pueden desarrollar los sensoriales. Ten en cuenta que tendrás que tolerar muchas escenas tontas a lo largo de toda la serie, que es lo que más no me gustó. I remember I began to watch this series several years ago, but for some reason, I stopped watching it and it was just a few days ago when I rediscovered this series and decided to finally binge-watch all of it. Sense8 is a series created by the Wachowskis with the first season being released in 2015 by Netflix.
The story is about a group of characters that suddenly discover they are telepathically connected with each other. They live in different parts of the world and some of them speak different languages, but thanks to this mysterious connection, they are able to not only understand each other while communicating telepathically but they can also feel, see, and hear what the others are experiencing.
This connection is something they can't control, at least in the beginning. It is something that just happens to them out of nowhere and it can creep them out the first time it does. The connection doesn't necessarily involve all of them at the same time, most of the time it is only 2 of them experiencing this connection, but the best scenes are when a big number of them are connected with each other instead of just 2.
However, the most important advantage of this connection is that it allows them to share control of each other bodies, which ends up being extremely useful in certain situations because of their different skills. They can basically solve each other's problems thanks to their different skills. This integration can also be weaponized for evil means of course.

Since this isn't just a scifi series but also one that belongs in the action genre, there have to be some bad guys causing trouble to the main characters, and there certainly are. It turns out, there is a well-financed organization that hunts down humans capable of developing this special connection. They are dangerous, and one of them has a special skill as well. They disguise their true activities so no one really knows what they do and they are deeply infiltrated in certain hospital networks and other types of organizations that could allow them to gain access to the humans with this special connection.
The main characters have for the most part good skills to share with each other. There is a talented African driver, a Korean woman who fights even better than Jackie Chan and can win fights even when facing 5 bad guys simultaneously, there is also a Hispanic actor that is a great liar, there are several Americans, a policeman, a transexual female hacker, and a skilled criminal, among other characters from several other countries.
The characters with this connection, as you can see, are very varied and diverse. So far, there is only 1 character that hasn't shown a valuable skill but I suspect this character will show her true value in season 2. There are some things I didn't enjoy though. The Wachowskis played the LGTB card too hard.
There are certainly more homosexual kisses than heterosexual ones, and at some point, I even wondered if this was a scifi series or if this was just a series about dramas involving LGTB people. It becomes annoying because it doesn't add anything useful, entertaining, or valuable to the real plot. And let's get honest here, the majority of viewers don't want to watch 2 guys touching each other and giving each other deep kisses every single episode. WTF is that. I came here to watch a scifi series, not 2 dudes banging each other constantly.
Dado que esta no es solo una serie de ciencia ficción, sino también una que pertenece al género de acción, tiene que haber algunos tipos malos que causen problemas a los personajes principales, y ciertamente los hay. Resulta que hay una organización bien financiada que caza humanos capaces de desarrollar esta conexión especial. Son peligrosos y uno de ellos también tiene una habilidad especial. Disfrazan sus verdaderas actividades para que nadie sepa realmente lo que hacen y están profundamente infiltrados en ciertas redes hospitalarias y otro tipo de organizaciones que podrían permitirles acceder a los humanos con esta conexión especial.
Los personajes principales tienen en su mayor parte buenas habilidades para compartir entre ellos. Hasta ahora, solo hay un personaje que no ha mostrado una habilidad valiosa, pero sospecho que este personaje mostrará su verdadero valor en la temporada 2. Sin embargo, hay algunas cosas que no disfruté. Los Wachowski jugaron demasiado duro la carta LGTB.
Ciertamente hay más besos homosexuales que heterosexuales, y en algún momento, incluso me pregunté si se trataba de una serie de ciencia ficción o si era solo una serie sobre dramas que involucraban a personas LGTB. Se vuelve molesto porque esto no agrega nada útil, entretenido o valioso a la trama real. Y seamos honestos aquí, la mayoría de los espectadores no quieren ver a 2 chicos tocándose y dándose besos profundos en cada episodio. Que demonios es eso. Vine aquí para ver una serie de ciencia ficción, no dos tipos haciéndose de todo constantemente.
The series provides great action/scifi scenes and there will be many cases where the main characters complement each other in wonderful ways. Their existence is still at risk by the end of season 1, but at least they have proved to be very competitive when working together.
There are 12 episodes in each season, so there is plenty of time for character development, and sometimes it can even feel like there is simply too much time to fill, which might be the reason why there were silly scenes in some episodes. In the case of season 2, the first and last episodes last more than 2 hours each, so they are more like movies instead of normal 50 minutes episodes.
This scifi topic has plenty of potential for more entertainment and I will be written about season 2 soon enough. I can recommend this series if you really like scifi, but remember the Wachowskis play the LGTB card too hard because that might be annoying for some viewers that are only interested in scifi.

Su existencia todavía está en riesgo al final de la temporada 1, pero al menos han demostrado ser muy competitivos cuando trabajan juntos.
