  1. Si Fueras Yo / The Change Up (2011): ¿Que harías si cambiarás de vida con tu mejor amigo?@miguelpeliculas2011d

There are many films that deal with body changes, too many I would say, but what makes this one better than many others is that it is not like the vast majority. In most films of this style by a miracle or by a spell the characters change bodies, but most of these do not know each other, have different lifestyles or even change parts of their personality.

In this Dave and Mitch are lifelong friends, who due to different motivations or their lifestyles, gradually grew apart (very similar to real life), being here what makes this film special, since both have to live the life "so envied" of the other, one accepting challenges and trying to be more mature, and the other learning to relax and stay high.

    Sinopsis Oficial / Official Synopsis:

"Dave y Mitch eran un par de amigos inseparables que se alejaron con el tiempo. Dave es un abogado que tiene mucho trabajo y un hombre de familia, mientras que Mitch evita las responsabilidades normales de los adultos. Entre ellos se envidian y después de una noche de copas, los hombres despiertan y descubren que han intercambiado sus cuerpos. Dave y Mitch se enteran muy pronto de que las cosas no son tan fáciles como parecían y buscan regresar a la normalidad."

"Dave and Mitch were an inseparable pair of friends who grew apart over time. Dave is a busy lawyer and family man, while Mitch avoids normal adult responsibilities. They envy each other and after a night of drinking, the men wake up to find that they have swapped their bodies. Dave and Mitch quickly find out that things are not as easy as they seemed and are looking to get back to normal."

With all that, they know a little more about each other, understanding that sometimes not everything is so easy, but where they have the greatest growth is in their own life, since when they see it as another person, they realize all the mistakes they have made. committed and how they hurt their loved ones. Mitch learns to be more mature and stop giving up everything, while Dave sees how he hurt his wife and that she is the only woman for him.

This film has a great cast, Ryan Reynolds continues to show that he is a great multi-faceted actor, being the main source of comedy, although Jason Bateman does not clash in his role, having very good comic moments. The protagonists also stand out a lot, Olivia Wilde is beautiful and adds intensity to her role and Leslie Mann was very good, with very comical scenes and other emotional ones.

As for comedy, which is the most important thing in these films, I have to say that I liked the jokes, Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) had a very crazy life and the scenes of the porn movie made me laugh a lot. There are also several nude scenes that were very well achieved, they fulfill the objective of moving us and making us laugh.

Although not all the comic parts were well accomplished, as for example, ultraviolent, crying and defecating babies had good and bad times. But the worst was the script and the story, full of clichés and nonsense, in addition to the fact that the film knows that it is not very original and does not bother him, with a predictable happy ending, the kind that Hollywood likes so much.

In conclusion, it is not the best comedy film I have seen, but I get a few laughs and have a good time watching it. I do not recommend it for the whole family as it has nudes and many bad words, although there are versions with some censorship.

  2. The Change up: Netflix Rom-Com worth watching IMO@netflixr2180d

I was on a Jason Bateman kick and I think I have finally seen all of the movies he is in on Netflix. Now I just have to finish Ozark which I think has become dreadfully boring and will fizzle out soon.

I like Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman a lot. I feel as though both of them are fantastic actors in multiple genres but they are likely most well-known for comedy and in The Change Up I think this is particularly evident.

    unnamed.jpg src

The story is that two best friends who have known one another for their entire lives now find themselves in very different life situations. Dave (Jason Bateman) is a very successful lawyer who is extremely dedicated to his job, has a wife and 3 kids and is very busy with his family and professional obligations. Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) on the other hand is a bachelor that lives day-to-day, smokes weed constantly, and is basically a womanizer on the prowl.

When Dave hangs out with Mitch in a rare get-together Dave (again, Bateman) revels that he is incredibly jealous of Mitch’s carefree life and tell his pal that he would really love to be able to live in his shoes, even if just for a short time. After getting drunk and walking away from the bar they stop to piss in a fountain (wishing well?) and Dave once again states his desire to have Mitch’s life. At this point Mitch admits that he too is jealous of Dave’s professional success and also envies the fact that he has a loving wife and family. All the lights in the city turn off for a few minutes and some ominous music plays, indicating that some magic has happened.

    changeup_ryanreynoldsjasonbateman.jpg src

The next day they wake up and realize that they have changed bodies with Mitch’s consciousness residing in Dave’s body and vice-versa. Hilarity ensues as each of them realize what has happened and they get together to go repeat the process with the fountain to reverse the “magic” only to discover that during the night, the statue has been moved.

I know this is impractical but the idea of magically switching bodies isn’t exactly something that would happen either. This is also an underlying story that has been done many times before (Freaky Friday anyone?) but yet, this somehow is a lot more interesting than other body-switching stories I have seen in the past.

The reason why this is so funny and interesting to me is because we have certain nuances about Jason and Ryan that we expect of their acting styles. In The Change Up we get to see Jason and Ryan switch acting roles to behave like the other typically does in films and they both nail it. Bateman is all of a sudden brash and swears a lot with little regard paid to his statements and Reynolds is suddenly reserved, calm and thinks out his statements before he makes them.

This is fantastic not just because it is part of the story but because it shows that Bateman and Reynolds are pretty fantastic actors and I would be willing to bet that they had a lot of fun trying to emulate one anothers’ acting styles.

This film has comedy, a bit of action, and some pretty juvenile humor that I think would only appeal to people that appreciate that sort of thing. I feel as though if you enjoyed Happy Gilmore there is a very good chance you will enjoy this. Also, there are some very touching relationship moments in the film that kind of hit me right in the “feels.”

The movie made a reasonable profit at the box office but was nearly universally panned by critics both professional and in the general public in ranking sites such as Rotten Tomatoes. I disagree with this prevailing notion but yet again, it might have a lot to do with the fact that generally speaking I really enjoy Ryan Reynolds and especially Jason Bateman. The Telegraph rated it as one of the worst films of 2011 and I wholeheartedly disagree!

    Should you watch it?

I think you should give it a try because even though it is pretty evident how the whole thing is going to play out the “role reversal” of Reynolds and Bateman is reason enough to enjoy this. However, there is nothing particularly noteworthy about the story. But it is a romantic comedy and very few of those deviate from a very formulaic plot. Basically, i feel that the critics are being snobbish when they say this is a terrible film as it is one of my favorite comedies that I have seen in the past few months.

  3. "The Change-Up" by David Dobkin - movie review@godflesh2879d

Comedy.... again. Once again, Ryan Reynolds. Again, Jason Bateman. And again two hours lost. For a moment, I said, "Who is watching these movies, damn ?!" But I'm not that sensitive. And my answer is clear. Those who watch movies of Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and all the big balls, bridesmaids and bachelor hunters. Not that something ... For every train there are passengers.

If it's not clear, we've seen this movie. There would be nothing wrong with director David Dobkin and his two screenwriters were not as men to think of something original instead of gathering what they think. The only time I do not think I've ever looked at is the relationship when the characters of the two heroes swap while they are spitting on a fountain. If this counts as original, I take the words back. The scene in question gives a lot of insight into both the nature of humor and the half of the story line, which consists of tortured gangs beyond the edge of the good taste that most of you can feel. The other half has the noble task of convincing us that whoever he does, he does it, as long as everyone is happy and rich. Personally, this lyrical approach did not work, but my thin string might be too thick.

It was also my hope that the film could be saved by Ryan Reynolds, whom I gladly looked at in the Proposal and Buried. The man fights heroically with the malicious replicas and sketches worthy of a Bulgarian series, but the intentions of foolish laughter generated by the exchange of identities are not realized. In my opinion, neither he nor Jason Bateman managed to convincingly play the role of the other, which, if it had happened, would certainly be much more fun. After all, the result is that I somehow prefer Ryan Reynolds's role to have been played by himself. I have to mention the female presence, which is expressed by the participation of Olivia Wilde and Leslie Mann. There is no doubt that half of the audience will be waiting for them and will definitely have something to see. One even shows boobs, but it's not what you want. Aside from spraying sex, both do not have much work on the screen unless we count that without them the film would end for half an hour. The helplessness of screenwriters reaches cosmic values, especially in their images, which are like being taken out of a subtle computer game in one of the social networks. I recently read how happy she was, Olivia Wilde, that she can now choose her roles. If that goes on, it's better to be unhappy.

In order not to be misunderstood, I may have to say that I do not mind the comedies that raise your mood and from which you remember at least one fresh dialogue. Because we're dealing with places to change, one of the movies I've been laughing at all is Dark Friday. What annoys me are molded semi-fabrics, which, if I can say so, are not politically correct to the average intelligence. What do we get in this case? Toilet humor, scruffy romance and two chick chicks. Sure, some will be enough for them, but that's just not my train.
