   Hello friends, today I want to share with you a film that I came across a few days ago and that caught my attention because it has a lot to do with the reality that we live today in terms of social networks and how some companies in the medium could be handling them. This film is based on a literary work of the same name by writer Dave Eggers. Starring Emma Watson (one of my favourite actresses) and the mega talented Tom Hanks.

   Hola amigos, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una película que me encontré hace unos días y que llamó poderosamente mi atención debido a que tiene mucho que ver con la realidad que se vive hoy en día en cuanto a las redes sociales y como algunas empresas del medio podrían estar manejándolas. Esta peli está basada en una obra literaria del mismo nombre del escritor Dave Eggers. Protagonizada por Emma Watson (una de mis actrices favoritas) y el mega talentoso Tom Hanks.

   

   Overview/Resumen

   Mae Holland (Emma Watson) is very dissatisfied with her job, frustrated because the pay is not good and she doesn't have much of a future there, but one day, while still at work, she receives a call from her friend Annie, who tells her that she got her an interview to apply for a job at "The Circle", a prestigious and famous technology company where Annie works. Mae is very excited and goes to the interview, pleasantly surprising her employers. The job seems comfortable, she just has to be in charge of helping users of the Circle's products and services, gradually getting to know the system better and getting better ratings from customers. During a conference he meets Bailey (Tom Hanks) who holds one of the highest positions within the company, he shows them the latest product of the company that promises to be very useful, it is a very small high resolution video camera that (according to him) can help expose dangerous situations to get solutions in time, catch criminals or simply see the weather in real time.

   Mae Holland (Emma Watson) está muy insatisfecha con su trabajo, se siente frustrada porque la paga no es buena y no tiene mucho futuro allí, pero en una ocasión, estando aún en el trabajo, ella recibe una llamada de su amiga Annie, quien le dice que le consiguió una entrevista para que opte a un trabajo en "El Círculo" una prestigiosa y famosa compañía de tecnología donde trabaja Annie. Mae se entusiasma mucho y acude a la entrevista, sorprendiendo gratamente a sus empleadores. El trabajo parece cómodo, solo tiene que encargarse de ayudar a los usuarios de los productos y servicios del Círculo, poco a poco va conociendo mejor el sistema y obteniendo mejores calificaciones por parte de los clientes. Durante una conferencia conoce a Bailey (Tom Hanks) quien posee uno de los cargos más altos dentro de la empresa, él les muestra el más reciente producto de la compañía que promete ser muy útil, se trata de una pequeñísima cámara de video de alta resolución que (según él) puede ayudar a exponer situaciones de peligro para obtener soluciones a tiempo, atrapar criminales o simplemente ver el clima en tiempo real.

   The Circle's new project is called SeeChange and it promotes the idea that humanity should be completely transparent, i.e. that everyone should share their information on the internet, so Bailey distributes some cameras among the workers (including Mae). Step by step she realises that the company is monitoring her every move through this project, even watching her family members and a boy who had previously shown interest in her to the point of causing her serious difficulties. To what extent can this project be considered good for humanity? Can you imagine being forced to share with other users absolutely EVERYTHING you do in your daily life? All this under the premise "knowing is good, but knowing everything is even better" - could humanity in real life end up this way at some point?

   El nuevo proyecto del Círculo se llama SeeChange y promueve la idea de que la humanidad debería ser completamente transparente, es decir, que todos deberían compartir su información en internet, así que Bailey reparte entre los trabajadores (entre ellos Mae) algunas cámaras. Poco a poco ella se va dando cuenta de que la empresa controla todos sus movimientos a través de este proyecto, incluso vigilan a sus familiares y a un chico que previamente había mostrado interés en ella hasta el punto de ocasionarle graves dificultades. ¿Hasta que punto este proyecto puede considerarse bueno para la humanidad? ¿Imaginas verte obligado a compartir con otros usuarios absolutamente TODO lo que hagas en tu vida cotidiana? Todo esto bajo la premisa "saber es bueno, pero saberlo todo es todavía mejor" ¿la humanidad en la vida real podría terminar de esta manera en algún momento?

   My Opinion/Mi Opinión

   One of the things that caught my attention is the scene where Annie shows the company's facilities to Mae, it really is very similar to everything we have been told about Google on the internet, maybe they did it to empathise with the audience and make us identify with the story in a more efficient way. I haven't had the chance to read the book but I honestly consider that the way the situation is going in real life I wouldn't be surprised if we end up like this, I say this because of the amount of information that every day requires the social networks that we are used to using on a daily basis.

   Una de las cosas que más llamó mi atención es la escena donde Annie le muestra las instalaciones de la empresa a Mae, de verdad es muy parecido a todo lo que nos han dicho de Google en internet, quizá lo hicieron para empatizar con la audiencia y hacer que nos identifiquemos con la historia de una manera más eficiente. No he tenido la oportunidad de leer el libro pero honestamente considero que tal y como se va encaminando la situación en la vida real no me sorprendería que termináramos así, lo digo debido a la cantidad de información que cada día requieren las redes sociales que acostumbramos a usar a diario.

   But what I like most about this film is that even though the idea implemented by the Circle is imminent and unstoppable, Mae manages to use the tremendous influence she had already gained within the social network to make this situation become... maybe I can say "fairer" by any stretch of the imagination.

   Pero lo que más me gusta de este film es que a pesar de que la idea implementada por el Círculo es inminente e imparable, Mae logra usar la tremenda influencia que ya se había ganado dentro de la red social para hacer que esta situación se tornara... si se puede decir "más justa" dentro de lo que cabe.

   This film not only makes us reflect on the amount of information we can offer about ourselves on the web, but also on how our behaviour on the web can influence other users. On the internet we can see everything, people who use the web to share their knowledge, to help others or for personal growth, but we also find the "Haters" who can become a real problem and destroy the life of any person with their judgments issued a priori and without any basis. We must also be careful with what we publish on a daily basis, as what happened to Mae in one of the scenes could happen to us, when a simple harmless photo of a chandelier made with deer antlers that probably could have been found in a forest after the animals had spontaneously lost them, unleashed a pitched battle and terrible harassment by users who claimed that Mercer (the boy who made the chandelier) was a cruel person who assaulted animals.

   Esta película no solo nos hace reflexionar acerca de la cantidad de información que podemos ofrecer sobre nosotros en la web, sino también de como puede influir nuestro comportamiento dentro de la misma con respecto a otros usuarios. En internet podemos ver de todo, gente que usa la web para compartir sus conocimientos, para ayudar a otros o como crecimiento personal, pero también nos encontramos con los "Haters" quienes pueden llegar a convertirse en un verdadero problema y destruir la vida de cualquier persona con sus juicios emitidos a priori y sin ningún fundamento. También debemos tener cuidado con lo que publicamos a diario, ya que podría pasarnos lo que le sucedió a Mae en una de las escenas, cuando una simple foto inofensiva sobre un candelabro hecho con cuernos de venado que probablemente pudieron haber sido encontrados en un bosque luego de que los animales los perdieran espontáneamente, desató una batalla campal y un terrible acoso por parte de usuarios que afirmaban que Mercer (el chico que hizo el candelabro) era una persona cruel que agredía a los animales.

   But I didn't only like the story, but also the cinematography where you can see the right handling of colours and lights to generate the right sensations in the spectator, the soundtrack, in my opinion, didn't surprise me but it was quite good, but the performances were magnificent, above all I was surprised by Tom Hanks who I hadn't seen in a role like this, however, later on we did see him as a villain in the film about Elvis Presley. In the circle Tom's character is shown as a relaxed, surprisingly balanced man, as that friendly boss you could identify with, but that's where his danger lies, in the degree of empathy he generates in others.

   Pero no solo me gustó la historia, sino la fotografía donde se puede ver acertadamente el manejo de colores y luces para generar las sensaciones adecuadas en el espectador, la banda sonora, en mi opinión, no me sorprendió pero estuvo bastante buena, pero las actuaciones estuvieron magnificas, sobre todo me sorprendió Tom Hanks a quien yo no había visto en un rol como este, sin embargo, posteriormente sí que lo vimos como villano en el film sobre Elvis Presley. En el círculo el personaje de Tom se muestra como un hombre relajado, sorprendentemente equilibrado, como ese jefe amistoso con el que podrías llegar a identificarte, pero es allí donde radica su peligrosidad, en el grado de empatía que genera en los demás.

   I really enjoyed this film, especially because of what I told you at the beginning of this post, I wouldn't be surprised if humanity ends up as shown at the end of this film (which I won't reveal to avoid spoilers) Thank you all for your attention and support, see you next time.

   De verdad disfruté de este film, sobre todo por lo que les dije al principio, no me sorprendería que la humanidad terminara tal y como se muestra al final de esta película (lo cual no revelaré para evitar los spoilers) Muchas gracias a todos ustedes por su atención y por su apoyo, nos leemos en una próxima oportunidad.

   The Circle

   The Circle is one of those movies that few people like, I guess. I remember reading a comment that said: It is very nice to see Hermione play the cybermesian Joan of Arc and Tom Hanks, bearded and paunchy, without playing the shipwrecked. It is a 2017 American tech thriller film, directed and written by James Ponsoldt, based on the homonymous novel by Dave Eggers written in 2013. The main characters are Tom Hanks, Emma Watson. Also we can see John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt and Bill Paxton.

   The plot introduces us to Mae Holland (Emma Watson) is a young prodigy who is hired by a great company called The Circle, which is responsible for taking communication technology to its ethical and technical limits. As Mae gets to know the company, she will learn increasingly dark secrets. The story does not seem like much, however, the amount of information it contained may not have been able to see it. I think it is an advanced film, because now we see that many of these situations are no longer science fiction. We are on the verge of a metaverse that will take us beyond our imagination. I think it is a good time to see this film again from our present day. I wish you a good weekend.

3. ›Фільм "Коло" ("The Circle"), 2015р. Враження 😐@occupy-mars1719d

   🎞 "Коло" ("The Circle") - американський фантастичний трилер 2015-го року. У ролях: Картер Дженкінс, Лоуренс Као, Аллегра Мастерс, Майкл Нарделлі, Джулі Бенц та інші маловідомі актори.

   Цей фільм знято в одному приміщенні. Щось типу "Екзамену", про який я розповідала раніше. Або хтось порівнює з "Платформа", та для мене це не дуже вдале порівняння, бо "Платформа" набагато сильніший, і навіть "Екзамен" цікавіший. Та зараз ми маємо саме стрічку"Коло", про неї і поговорим.

   

   💬 50 незнайомців "прокидаються" ("отямлюються") в темному зачиненому приміщенні. Кожен з них стоїть на своєму, виділеному червоним колом, місці. І центрі всіх - також коло і трикутні позначки. Першим ділом всі незнайомці розуміють - зрушити зі свого місця не можна, так само як і торкнутися когось, хто поряд. Перший, хто вийшов за межі своєї позначки - помирає. Потім виявляється, що з певною періодичністю будуть помирати всі підряд, а ще вони, як виявилося, можуть голосувати за когось, хто має померти. Ну і ось протягом усього фільму режисери підкидують глядачу харч для роздумів: як по-справедливому визначити порядок смертей і від чого цей порядок має залежати. Ось тут я зупинюся і не буду розповідати далі, але скажу, що саме в цьому плані дуже слабо пропрацьовано сценарій і акторську гру. Ми може й хотіли б побачити якусь логіку, пороздумувати на цю тему, але не вистачає чогось для заглиблення. Акторська гра, а ще й зважаючи на те, що персонажів там буде дуже багато, "так собі".

   Отже, якщо комусь цікаві фільми подібної тематики, які я описала вище - можете виділити 1 годину 25 хвилин на перегляд. В принципі, дякую хоч за те, що не затягнутий фільм 🙃

   "Сфера" ("The Circle") - цікавий фільм з Томом Хенксом, який варто переглянути. Це трилер жанру наукової фантастики 2017 року.

   У ролях: Емма Вотсон, Том Генкс, Карен Гіллан, Білл Пекстон та інші.

   

   💬 За сюжетом, молода дівчина, студентка-випускниця, влаштовується на роботу у дуже престижну компанію "Сфера". Компанія займається збором даних про людей: усі їхні контакти, покупки, банківські картки тощо. Це має стати технологічним проривом, в людей буде універсальний онлайн-ідентифікатор. Але за добрими намірами розвитку технологій стоять і негативні плани. Директор компанії (Том Хенкс) має свої наміри на людство, а дівчина єдина, яка може спробувати це зупинити.

   Фільм розкриває тему, ким бути людині: такою, над якою завжди хтось владарює і все за неї вирішує, чи вільною, незалежно особистістю?

   Imagínate por un momento que el requisito principal para poder elegir a tu gobernante sea estar inscrita en una red social creada por una compañía prestigiosa del internet. Imagínate por un momento que, aún si no estás "socialmente conectado", te logren encontrar cuando menos te lo esperas gracias a una aplicación muy parecida a Pokemon Go: gente con celular en mano enfocando su cámara en tu cara y drones persiguiéndote a todos lados como si hubieras cometido un crimen cuando lo único que hiciste fue comprar un helado o hablar con tu mejor amigo.

   Imagínate que la privacidad ya no exista. Que lo que tú crees que nadie sabe ya no es secreto. Que en cualquier parte del mundo, sin que te enteres, te están vigilando.

   Todo eso sonó muy orwelliano, pero muchísimo más orwelliano sonará que una chica común y corriente entra a trabajar a una empresa muy influyente, en donde todos son sonrisas, eventos culturales, conciertos de artistas favoritos e incluso te conviertes en una suerte de youtuber al mostrarles a media humanidad tu vida, tus sueños y hasta a tus papás en pleno sexo. Una empresa cuyo objetivo final es la monetización de tu privacidad (que ya está pasando, en cierto modo). Una empresa que quiere saberlo todo de todos, hasta de qué diablos haces los fines de semana en casa de tus papás.

   Todo lo expuesto con anterioridad es el argumento central de la adaptación fílmica de la novela The Circle de David Eggers (libro que quiero conseguir, por cierto), protagonizada por Tom Hanks y Emma Watson, quienes interpretan al gurú Eamon Bailey y a Mae Holland, respectivamente.

   El argumento está bien planteado; juega y conecta algunas temáticas importantes (privacidad vs. publicidad; fanatismo vs. razón) y te muestra el lado nada bonito de exponer toda tu vida o la de tus amigos a todo el mundo, un lado que muchas personas sabemos es tan asqueroso y desagradable que preferimos pasar de largo o alejarse de las redes por un tiempo.

   Las actuaciones de Hanks y Watson estuvieron decentes, aunque esperaba un poco más de ellos; quizás el ritmo del film es lo que les ha perjudicado, al ser un ritmo que se va saltando entre lo (excesivamente) pasivo a lo (excesivamente) activo, logrando que me desconectara de la historia por momentos. El final del film dejó mucho qué desear; digo, si te metes contra un gigante de la tecnología, éste te puede demandar o incluso mandar a un asesino a sueldo a asesinarte. O algo un poco más original.

   ¿Es buena o es mala? La verdad, ninguna de las dos cosas. Está pasable, pero no es la gran Coca Cola del desierto.
