   Pierwszy sezon obejrzany wieczorami z mężem. Lekki, dobry do bindżowania, ale w przypadku zmęczonych życiem rodziców na pełnym etacie dobry serial do tego, żeby wieczorem przez chwilę odmóżdżyć się i pójść spać. ;)

   Watched the first season in the evenings with my husband. Light, good for binge-watching, but for tired, full-time parents, a good show to help them unwind and go to bed in the evening. ;)

   

   Mickey Haller to adwokat, który po dłuższej przerwie wraca do gry i prowadzi biuro z tylnego siedzenia swojego Lincolna, krążąc po całym LA. W pierwszym sezonie bierze na warsztat głośną sprawę morderstwa żony pewnego magnata technologicznego, próbując dowieść jego niewinności w blasku fleszy. To klasyczny, wciągający miks dramatów sądowych, rodzinnych przepraw z dwiema byłymi żonami i odkrywania mrocznych tajemnic miasta aniołów.

   Mickey Haller is a lawyer who returns to the game after a long hiatus, running his office from the backseat of his Lincoln, cruising around L.A. In the first season, he tackles the high-profile murder case of a tech tycoon's wife, attempting to prove his innocence in the spotlight. It's a classic, gripping mix of courtroom drama, family entanglements with his two ex-wives, and uncovering the dark secrets of the City of Angels.

   

   Szczerze, to mam za sobą lata oglądania seriali prawniczych. Ally McBeal, Prawo Agaty. Swego czasu bardzo lubiłam też czytać i oglądać Grishama. Ten serial jest o tyle spoko, że tu jest jakaś zagadka kryminalna, i jej rozwiązanie nawet wciąga. Z minusów mogę wymienić takie typowe dla amerykańskich seriali. Jedna z bohaterek nie potrafi mówić normalnie tylko beczy jak koza, i ogólnie cały model jest taki nowoczesno-amerykański, co sprawia, że w moim odczuciu odpychająco powierzchowny.

   Honestly, I've spent years watching legal dramas. Ally McBeal, Agatha's Law. I also really enjoyed reading and watching Grisham back in the day. This series is nice because it has a murder mystery, and solving it is quite engaging. Among the downsides, I can name the typical American dramas. One of the characters can't speak properly, she just bleats like a goat, and overall, the whole thing is so modern-American, which makes it, in my opinion, repulsively superficial.

   

   Podsumowując, da się, ale żeby to było jakieś arcydzieło gatunku - to broń boże, nie.

   To sum up, it's possible to watch, but for it to be some kind of masterpiece of the genre - it is not.

   Michael Connelly can be considered one of the most successful authors of the crime genre in contemporary American literature, at least judging by the willingness of Hollywood studios to adapt his novels for big and small screen. This is evidenced by the series of novels featuring the hard-boiled Los Angeles police detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch, which had the honour of serving as the basis for Bosch, Amazon's first original drama series. The Bosch novels share the same fictional universe with another series by Connelly, whose protagonist is lawyer and Bosch's half-brother, Michael "Mickey" Haller. The Lincoln Lawyer, the first novel in this series, was adapted into a 2011 film.

   The titular protagonist, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey, earned the nickname "The Lincoln Lawyer" because he prefers to conduct his business from the back seat of a Lincoln Navigator driven by his loyal assistant Earl (played by Laurence Mason) rather than in the office. Most of his clients are dealers, bikers, murderers, rapists, prostitutes, and similar lowlifes whom Haller successfully keeps from prison, creating numerous enemies among law enforcement. However, his ex-wife Margaret McPherson (played by Marisa Tomei), who works on the opposite side as a prosecutor, still considers him a good friend. Haller's reputation ultimately leads him to an atypical client for his career thus far—Louis Roulet (played by Ryan Philippe), a relatively young man who has become wealthy trading real estate alongside his mother Mary Windsor (played by Frances Fisher). Roulet is accused of beating and attempting to rape Regina "Reggie" Campo (played by Margarita Levieva), a young woman he met one night at a club. Roulet refuses any plea deal with the prosecution, insisting he is completely innocent and that he is a victim of a setup designed to bring millions to the young woman in a future civil lawsuit. Haller diligently sets to work and, with the help of his experienced investigator Frank Levin (played by William H. Macy), begins to unravel the case but eventually uncovers some uncomfortable truths about his own professional past.

   John Roman's screenplay does not offer anything particularly new; viewers will not see anything regarding plot or relatively predictable resolution that they haven't encountered in countless other legal dramas and thrillers. What elevates The Lincoln Laweyer above average is primarily its specific atmosphere and style, significantly enhanced by the direction of the relatively unknown Brad Furman. The film largely resembles the dark and often depressing crime thrillers of the 1970s, where protagonists on the sunlit streets of Los Angeles frequently engaged in Sisyphean struggles against a corrupt system where crime goes unpunished. This is supported not only by a rather effective soundtrack dominated by music from the last decades of the 20th century but also by Matthew McConaughey's commendable performance, as he once again attempts and succeeds in proving that he is not just a pretty face but also a top-tier actor. In this instance, he achieves a solid transformation from a morally ambiguous antihero with lawyerly "scum" stereotypes to a true fighter for justice who genuinely seeks to rid the world of evil. Ryan Philippe, on the other hand, does not fare well in yet another role as a WASP villain that has turned into a cliché for his career. Conversely, the rest of the cast delivered more than commendable performances in small but impactful roles; thus, The Lincoln Lawyer, although far from being something that should be considered a genre classic, represents a rare example of a feature film that maintains quality within the frameworks established by what we have come to expect from television's Golden Age over the past decade. In 2022 saga of Mickey Haller was continued with Netflix series starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

   Bonsoir,

   La saison 2 est arrivée sur Netflix, cet été 2023. Elle se compose de 10 épisodes. Une saison 3 a, d'ores et déjà, été confirmée par Netflix, pour notre + grand plaisir, mais nous n'avons pas encore de date de sortie.

   Synopsis :

   Michael Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), l'avocat à la Lincoln, a une très bonne réputation. En quelques années, après avoir réussi à se débarrasser de ses addictions, il est parvenu à mener à bien ses affaires, en gagnant la plupart des procès qu'il avait à défendre.

   Au départ, il n'avait ni bureau ni cabinet professionnel, il gérait tout depuis sa voiture qui est une Lincoln cabriolet. Maintenant, il a un cabinet avec une secrétaire, sa 2e épouse Lorna Crain (Becky Newton), un assistant/détective Cisco (Angus Sampson), le futur mari de sa 2e épouse, et un chauffeur qui est une ancienne cliente, Izzy (Jazz Raycole). Il a aussi une 2e Lincoln, + professionnelle, il garde sa cabriolet pour ses moments privés ! Cette situation est assez bizarre, mais la façon de travailler de Michael, dit Micky, n'est pas très conventionnelle non plus.

   Il va parfois demander conseil à son mentor Legal Siegal (Elliott Gould), qui a travaillé avec feu son père, qui était aussi un excellent avocat.

   A côté de tout cela, il a sa vie privée avec sa 1ère épouse Maggie MacPherson (Neve Campbell) et leur fille Hayley (Krista Warner) qu'il côtoie plusieurs fois par semaine, notamment pour conduire et rechercher sa fille à son cours d'équitation. Et puis, il a ses rencontres fortuites qui l'entraînent parfois sur les montagnes russes des sentiments.

   Mon avis et petites infos :

   J'aime beaucoup les films et séries qui se déroulent aux alentours et dans le Tribunal, surtout quand les avocats ne sont pas conventionnels. J'avais aussi beaucoup apprécié la série Suits, par exemple. Nous n'hésiterons pas à regarder la saison 3 de La Défense Lincoln, dès qu'elle serait disponible dans son entièreté.

   Elliott Gould a déjà 85 ans, le temps file, mais il a l'air d'aller bien, tant mieux ! C'est un acteur avec une sacrée filmographie (films et téléfilms). Si vous ne le connaissez pas, allez consulter sa page Wikipedia et vous direz "Ah oui, c'est lui". Par exemple, dans la série Friends, il jouait Jack Geller, le père de Monica et Ross Geller.

   Je ne sais pas encore ce que nous allons regarder ce soir, mais ce ne sera pas trop long, car nous avons regardé les 4 derniers épisodes de cette série hier soir et il était près de minuit quand on a été au lit. On n'a plus 20 ans et il va nous falloir faire quelques petites grasses matinées pour récupérer notre sommeil. Pour ne pas perturber notre cycle circadien, il est préférable de dormir 1/2h ou 1h en + plusieurs fois que dormir 1 fois 4 heures (ou +) ..

   The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal drama series that focuses on courthouse drama. The show was created by David E. Kelley based on a novel by Michael Connelly, The Brass Verdict.

   

   ENGLISH

   Another film genre that I love, other than sci-fi and thrillers, is legal drama. All that courthouse drama and tension is something I love to see. So when I saw that another series had just been released and it was getting positive reviews, I could not help but jump right into it. 

   One thing I love about courthouse drama is that you can not always tell its direction right away. Another is that there are always discoveries to be made and they make one go, "oh, so that's what happened," because right from their beginnings, you can wonder how something is connected.

   This series is not just about the courthouse drama alone. There are some little diversions in it, but in the end, there were explanations as to why. But is the series something to give time to follow? Well, without further ado, journey with me as we find out.

   ᴘᴀʀᴛ ɪ

   Mickey Haller, aka The Lincoln Lawyer (as all his cars are Lincoln motors, and he works on the road I. them), has just returned after a year of recovery from his accident and addiction to painkillers. Unfortunately, his old pal, Jerry Vincent, had just been murdered, and he inherited all of Jerry's practice.

   Among the cases he inherits is the high-profile murder case of a successful game company owner, Trevor Elliot. Trevor had been accused of killing his wife, Lara, alongside her lover, Ian Rilz.

   He had lost his reputation and connection with his family following his accident that he barely survived. The opportunity to redeem himself poses itself in the inheritance of Jerry's practice.

   With only a week to go until the trial of the Trevor Elliot case, Mickey has to get up to speed with the case, make investigations and discoveries, prepare and, most importantly, "win" the case.

   With all the tension and pressure on Mickey, a continuance (extension of the trial date) for the Trevor Elliot case should help. But his client refuses, which further creates suspense. 

   Mickey gathers his team together; Cisco, his investigator, and Lorna, his secretary. And together with an LAPD detective, Griggs, they put pieces together to solve the mystery; Did Trever actually commit the murder? Or was just "tunnel vision" and could have been someone else?

   

   𝕄𝕐 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊 & 𝕆ℙ𝕀ℕ𝕀𝕆ℕ

   The Lincoln Lawyer is a TV show that brings to light the things we do not normally see in a crime; the kinds of motives and how they come about, the consequences that follow, the truths and the lies that are buried within. 

   

   It does really well to show that no one is perfect, particularly with the issues of addiction. You see, addiction is always caused/started by something else. By running away from something, one can fall into a ditch of another thing. And this series highlights that. In a suble way, it also showed some ways to deal with it; Mickey had his hands full and was never idle - made being sober easier.

   The series highlights some important aspects through out the series, such as;

   • Letting work get in the middle of familial affair is never health for a family. And there's so much influence impacted to kids by parents. The series highlighted many ways Mickey was inspired by his father, Mickey Haller Snr.
   • How "everybody lie" is a crucial theory to always remember in dealing with people. In the end of the series, many people didn't turn out to be as they first seemed.
   • And how corruption always births destruction.

   Another thing the series does well to do is adding comedy; subtle, yet, engaging.

   Now, dear reader, let's get into some specifics for the series;

   sᴛᴏʀʏʟɪɴᴇ

   The story is quite simple: a lawyer, his case, and his family. It is pretty easy to flip this as it is quite a generic plot. However, it is the nuances in the execution of the story that distinguish a film from other works in the film industry.    Like I earlier said, there are some little diversions in it, but in the end, there were explanations as to why. You really cannot have a legal drama and not have questions like "what does this robbery have to do with this harrassment?" "How could she say that in court?" "Oh, so there's more to that accident?" And it's not uncommon for series to abandon their viewers in the middle of the action.    Some diversions, of course, because it is all a big tree of branches connected to the same root. The series did well to connect the dots. And yes, it is just a season for now, but it does not leave empty spaces to be filled in the next season, which makes it more "enjoyable," if I could term it.

   ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ

   This aspect is very important in giving films the dynamics they need to keep their audience on track. If poorly done, it could end up being a blunt knife without an edge and therefore render the film "boring." The camera angles in this TV show are something I really like. My favourite is the angle from the back of his 1962-64 Lincoln Continental Convertible.

   And secondly, the sound. The song choices of the producers were very efficient ones to deliver the effects of the scenes.

   ᴀᴄᴛɪɴɢ

   As I always say, you really can not have life in a film without the characters. And their performances are actually what sell the characters of a movie to the audience. 

   Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Micky Haller) was so excellent in delivering his character, especially with all the humour he added. In my opinion, he gave life to the series. 

   And I must commend Angus Sampson for keeping that badass baritone voice throughout the series; it just might have been difficult as that is not his actual voice. 

   Jazz Raymond must have worked really hard as well to sell that character, Izzy. To nail the life of an addict is a very delicate role. 

   

   𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...

   The series has proven to be binge-worthy and is one that I am looking forward to its second season. 

   It is too early to determine if Netflix will renew the show for another season, but with what has been offered, the show is doing well and may be considered for a renewal. 

   I would give the series a 7.5/10.

   The Lincoln Lawyer es una serie de drama legal que se centra en el drama de los tribunales. La serie fue creada por David E. Kelley basada en una novela de Michael Connelly, El veredicto de Brass.

   Otro género cinematográfico que me encanta, aparte de la ciencia ficción y el thriller, es el drama jurídico. Todo el drama y la tensión de los tribunales es algo que me encanta ver. Así que cuando vi que se acababa de estrenar otra serie y que estaba recibiendo críticas positivas, no pude evitar meterme de lleno en ella.

   Una de las cosas que me gustan de los dramas judiciales es que no siempre se puede saber su dirección de inmediato. Otra es que siempre hay descubrimientos que se hacen y que hacen que uno diga "oh, así que eso es lo que pasó", porque ya desde sus inicios, puedes preguntarte cómo está conectado algo.

   Esta serie no es sólo el drama del juzgado. Hay algunos pequeños desvíos en ella, pero al final se explica el porqué. Pero, ¿es la serie algo a lo que hay que dedicar tiempo para seguirla? Bueno, sin más preámbulos, viaje conmigo mientras lo averiguamos.

   Mickey Haller, alias El Abogado Lincoln (ya que todos sus coches son motores Lincoln, y trabaja en la carretera I. de ellos), acaba de regresar tras un año de recuperación de su accidente y su adicción a los analgésicos. Desgraciadamente, su viejo amigo, Jerry Vincent, acaba de ser asesinado, y él ha heredado todo el bufete de Jerry.

   Entre los casos que hereda se encuentra el caso de asesinato de un exitoso propietario de una empresa de juegos, Trevor Elliot. Trevor había sido acusado de matar a su mujer, Lara, junto a su amante, Ian Rilz.

   A sólo una semana del juicio del caso Trevor Elliot, Mickey tiene que ponerse al día con el caso, hacer investigaciones y descubrimientos, prepararse y, lo más importante, "ganar" el caso.

   Con toda la tensión y la presión sobre Mickey, un aplazamiento (extensión de la fecha del juicio) para el caso de Trevor Elliot debería ayudar. Pero su cliente se niega, lo que crea aún más suspense.

   Mickey reúne a su equipo: Cisco, su investigador, y Lorna, su secretaria. Y junto con un detective de la policía de Los Ángeles, Griggs, juntan las piezas para resolver el misterio. ¿Realmente Trever cometió el asesinato? ¿O fue sólo una "visión de túnel" y pudo haber sido otra persona?

   

   𝕄𝕀𝕊 ℙ𝔼ℕ𝕊𝔸𝕄𝕀𝔼ℕ𝕋𝕆𝕊 𝕐 𝕆ℙ𝕀ℕ𝕀𝕆́ℕ

   The Lincoln Lawyer es un programa de televisión que saca a la luz las cosas que normalmente no vemos en un crimen; los tipos de motivos y cómo se producen, las consecuencias que se derivan, las verdades y las mentiras que se esconden.

   

   Hace muy bien a como nadie es perfecto, particularmente con los temas de adicción. Verás, la adicción siempre es causada/empezada por otra cosa. Al huir de algo, uno puede caer en una zanja de otra cosa. Y esta serie lo pone de manifiesto. También muestra algunas formas de afrontarla; Mickey tenía las manos llenas y nunca estaba ocioso, lo que hace que estar sobrio sea más fácil.

   La serie destaca algunos aspectos importantes a lo largo de la serie, como; - Dejar que el trabajo se interponga en los asuntos familiares nunca es saludable para una familia. Y la influencia que ejercen los padres sobre los hijos es muy grande. La serie destacó muchas formas en las que Mickey se inspiró en su padre, Mickey Haller Snr. - Cómo "todo el mundo miente" es una teoría crucial que hay que recordar siempre al tratar con la gente. Al final de la serie, muchas personas no resultaron ser lo que parecían al principio.

   • Y cómo la corrupción siempre da lugar a la destrucción.

   Otra cosa que la serie hace bien es añadir comedia; sutil, pero atractiva.

   Ahora, querido lector, entremos en algunos detalles de la serie;

   ʜɪsᴛᴏʀɪᴀ

   La historia es bastante sencilla: un abogado, su caso y su familia. Es bastante fácil darle la vuelta a esto, ya que es una trama bastante genérica. Sin embargo, son los matices en la ejecución de la historia los que distinguen una película de otras obras de la industria cinematográfica.

   Como dije antes, hay algunos pequeños desvíos en ella, pero al final, había explicaciones del porqué.Realmente no se puede tener un drama legal y no tener preguntas como "¿qué tiene que ver este robo con este acoso?" "¿Cómo pudo decir eso en la corte?" "Oh, ¿entonces hay algo más en ese accidente?" Y no es raro que las series abandonen a sus espectadores en medio de la acción.

   Algunos desvíos, claro, porque todo es un gran árbol de ramas conectadas a la misma raíz. La serie ha hecho bien en conectar los puntos. Y sí, por ahora es sólo una temporada, pero no deja espacios vacíos para ser rellenados en la siguiente, lo que la hace más "disfrutable", si se puede calificar así.

   ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ

   Este aspecto es muy importante para dotar a las películas de la dinámica que necesitan para mantener a su público. Si se hace mal, puede acabar siendo un cuchillo romo sin filo y, por tanto, hacer que la película sea "aburrida". Los ángulos de cámara de este programa de televisión son algo que me gusta mucho. Mi favorito es el ángulo desde la parte trasera de su 1962-64 Lincoln Continental Convertible.

   Y en segundo lugar, el sonido. La elección de las canciones por parte de los productores ha sido muy eficaz para conseguir los efectos de las escenas.

   ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀᴄɪᴏ́ɴ

   Como siempre digo, realmente no puede haber vida en una película sin los personajes. Y sus interpretaciones son las que realmente venden los personajes de una película al público.

   Manuel García-Rulfo (Micky Haller) estuvo excelente en la interpretación de su personaje, sobre todo con todo el humor que añadió. En mi opinión, dio vida a la serie.

   Y debo elogiar a Angus Sampson por mantener esa voz de barítono durante toda la serie, aunque haya sido difícil, ya que no es su voz real.

   Jazz Raymond debe haber trabajado muy duro también para vender ese personaje, Izzy. Encarnar la vida de un adicto es un papel muy delicado.

   

   ℝ𝔼𝔽𝕃𝔼𝕏𝕀𝕆ℕ𝔼𝕊 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃𝔼𝕊...

   La serie ha demostrado ser digna de un atracón y es una de las que espero con ansias su segunda temporada.

   Es demasiado pronto para determinar si Netflix renovará la serie para otra temporada, pero con lo que se ha ofrecido, la serie lo está haciendo bien y puede ser considerada para una renovación.

   Yo le daría a la serie un 7.5/10.

   They say that the profession you choose is marked by the environment in which you are educated, if that had been the case, I would have been a teacher or a lawyer...a lawyer if we measure it by the number of influences since it is the profession that predominates in my family, not to mention that I ended up married to one.

   The influence of law in my life was such that even my engineering degree thesis was software developed for the management control of a municipal court. I mastered in such detail the processes of civil law, that when the president of the jury was about to read the verdict of my defense, she asked me with a threatening tone: "Bachelor, do you aspire to the title of engineer or lawyer?", before I could answer (and thank goodness I did not, because I was terrified) she congratulated me for having passed my thesis with a grade of publication and closed her lecture by inviting me to study law in the future. Obviously, this never happened, someone had to have the responsibility to sabotage those boring legal talks at home.

   The truth is that if I had studied law, I would have surely ended up specializing in criminal law, criminal investigation has always captured my attention, it is something I am really passionate about, maybe that is the reason why police and crime dramas are the genres I enjoy reading and watching the most. The Netflix algorithm already knows about my preferences, so the suggestions for series and/or movies usually revolve around these themes, from that proposed selection two weeks ago I decided to watch The Lincoln Lawyer. I knew nothing about this series prior to that and had never even heard of it, so I started watching it based on the brief synopsis on Netflix.

   Dicen que la profesión que elijas está signada por el ambiente en el que te formas, de haber sido así, yo habría sido educadora o abogada…abogada si lo medimos por número de influencia, pues es la profesión que predomina en mi núcleo familiar, sin mencionar que terminé casada con uno.

   Fue tal la influencia del derecho en mi vida que incluso mi tesis de grado de ingeniería fue un software desarrollado para el control de gestión de un juzgado de municipio. Llegué a dominar con tal detalle los procesos del derecho civil, que cuando la presidenta del jurado estaba por leer el veredicto de mi defensa, me preguntó con tono amenazante: ¿Bachiller, usted aspira el título de Ingeniero o el de Abogado?, antes de que pudiese responder (y menos mal no lo hice, porque estaba aterrada) me felicitó por haber aprobar mi tesis con mención publicación, y cerró su lectura invitándome a estudiar derecho en el futuro. Obvio esto jamás pasó, alguien debía sabotear esas aburridas charlas jurídicas en casa.

   Lo cierto es que de haberlo hecho, de haber estudiado derecho, seguramente habría terminado especializándome en derecho penal, la investigación de hechos criminales siempre ha captado mi atención, es algo que realmente me apasiona, tal vez es la razón por la que los dramas policiales y criminales son los géneros que más disfruto leer y ver. El algoritmo de Netflix ya conoce de mis preferencias, de manera que las sugerencias de series y/o películas suelen giran en torno a estos temas, de esa selección propuesta hace dos semanas me decidí a ver El Abogado del Lincoln. No sabía nada previo a esta serie, ni siquiera había oído de ella, así que empecé a verla basada en la breve sinopsis de Netflix.

   

   Before I tell you my impressions of the series, let me give you some context as to what it's all about. The series is based on one of the novels in the Mickey Haller series written by novelist Michael Connelly, a famed writer of the detective and crime genre. The novel tells the story of Mickey Haller, a defense attorney who after losing a case that condemned an innocent man to jail, plunges into a deep depression that leads him to have an accident that almost ends his life and keeps him away from the courts for over a year until he is surprisingly notified that an old colleague has been murdered under strange circumstances and he is the heir to his legal firm and the cases he was handling.

   Antes de comentarles mis impresiones de la serie, los pongo en contexto de que va todo. La serie está basada en una de las novelas de la serie Mickey Haller escrita por el novelista Michael Connelly, un afamado escritor del género policial y criminal. La novela cuenta la historia de Mickey Haller, un abogado defensor que tras perder un caso que condenó un inocente a la cárcel, se sume en una profunda depresión que lo lleva a tener un accidente que casi acaba con su vida y lo aleja de los tribunales por más de un año, hasta que sorpresivamente es notificado que un viejo colega ha sido asesinado en extrañas circunstancias y él es el heredero de su bufete y los casos que éste llevaba.

   The opportunity to resume his old life is contingent on getting his old colleague's clients to agree to let Haller represent them, of which his target client is Trevor Elliott, a multimillionaire owner of a video game development company who has been accused of murdering his wife and her lover. Elliott's defense will challenge Haller's skills and tolerance, for as he becomes involved in the case he begins to uncover an entire web of conspiracy and corruption.

   Para Haller, la oportunidad de retomar su vieja vida está supeditada a lograr que los clientes de su viejo colega acepten que él los represente, de todos ellos, su cliente objetivo es Trevor Elliott, un multimillonario dueño de una empresa de desarrollo de videojuegos que ha sido acusado de asesinar a su esposa y al amante de ésta. La defensa de Elliott pondrá a prueba las habilidades y la tolerancia de Haller, pues a medida que se involucra en el caso comienza a descubrir toda una red de conspiración y corrupción.

   The Lincoln Lawyer, may resemble many other iconic series of the genre with the special feature that Mickey Haller does not manage his cases as most of his colleagues do, he does it from inside a luxury Lincoln vehicle, well, several in reality. Parallel to the professional plot in Haller's life, there is also that of his private life, in which he shares custody of his daughter with his first ex-wife Maggie McPherson, also a legal professional, but as prosecuting attorney, so their professional positions put them on opposite sides...you can already guess what is woven as a consequence of the above.

   El Abogado del Lincoln, puede parecerse a muchas otras series icónicas del género con la especial característica de que Mickey Haller no gestiona sus casos como lo hace la mayoría de sus colegas, él lo hace desde el interior de un elegante Lincoln, bueno, varios en realidad. Paralelo a la trama profesional en la vida de Haller, está también la de su vida privada, en la que comparte la custodia de su hija con su primera exesposa Maggie McPherson, también profesional del derecho, pero como fiscal acusador, por lo que sus posiciones profesionales los ponen en bandos contrarios…ya pueden suponer lo que se teje como consecuencia de lo anterior.

   Ok, I won't tell you anymore because I might be being reckless, instead, I'll tell you about my impressions of the series. The first thing I must say is that it didn't cross my mind to review this series, but after a whole controversy on Twitter due to the mixed emotions that the series produced in me, @liveofdalla suggested I do the review to get it off my chest.

   All this came up because I mentioned that the series wasn't that good, and yet I was still hooked on watching it, in fact, in a couple of days I watched all 10 episodes of the first season. During that time I kept asking myself "why are you still so hooked if you're not watching Suits, I mean, it's not good, let it go", but I was still hooked waiting for the outcome. The reason is due to the fact that the series is quite entertaining, predictable, yes, and very much so, but entertaining, and I think that's the hook that conquers the audience.

   Ok, no les sigo contando más porque puedo pecar de imprudente, en lugar de eso les hablaré de mis impresiones. Lo primero que debo decir es que no se me pasó por la mente reseñar esta serie, pero luego de toda una controversia en twitter producto de las emociones encontradas que me produjo la serie, @liveofdalla me sugirió hacerla para desahogarme.

   Todo esto surgió porque mencioné que la serie no era tan buena, y que aun así, estaba instaladísima viéndola, de hecho, en un par de días vi los 10 capítulos de la primera temporada. En ese tiempo me cuestionaba incesantemente “¿por qué sigues tan enganchada si no estás viendo Suits?, o sea, no es buena, déjala ir”, pero allí seguí enganchada esperando el desenlace. La razón obedece al hecho de que la serie es bastante entretenida, predecible, sí y mucho, pero entretenida, y creo que allí está el gancho que conquista a la audiencia.

   I can't deny that I enjoyed that strategic part in which Haller goes from the backseat of his elegant Lincoln telling how a defendant's arguments are constructed in order to demolish those of the prosecutor. It's those things that give it a touch of brilliance that captivates and entertains, and that's how it crosses that fine line between being good and not so good, or maybe it's a very good bad series, I don't know.

   The only thing I can say is that I'm looking forward to seeing the second season, which as far as I know is not yet confirmed. So, it has something, so the best way to make your own opinion is to watch it. If you do, I'll be happy to hear your opinion.

   No puedo negar que disfruté esa parte estratégica en la que Haller va desde el asiento trasero de su elegante Lincoln relatando cómo se construyen los alegatos de una defensa para echar por tierra los del fiscal acusador. Son esas cosas las que le dan un toque de brillantez que cautiva y entretiene; y así es como cruza esa delgada línea entre ser buena y no tan buena, o tal vez es una muy buena serie mala, no lo sé.

   Lo único que si puedo decir es que quedé con ganas de ver la segunda temporada, que hasta donde sé todavía no está confirmada. Entonces, algo tiene, así que la mejor manera de hacerte tu propia opinión, es viéndola. Si lo haces, estaré encantada de conocer tu opinión.

   Après avoir terminé la série Ozark, on a choisi de se plonger dans une série au milieu des avocats.

   Cette série a débarqué sur Netflix à la mi-mai 2022 et se compose de 10 épisodes. Elle est adaptée du livre "Le Verdict du Plomb" (The Brass Verdict), écrit par Michael Connelly :

   Le personnage principal, Mickey Haller, est apparu pour la première fois dans le livre "La Défense Lincoln", du même auteur, qui a été adapté dans le film éponyme, sorti en 2011, avec Matthew McConaughey dans le rôle de Maître Haller.

   Nous situerions le style de cette série entre les séries Suits et Bull. C'est une très bonne série, avec de l'humour et des stratégies originales. Ce qu'on pourrait reprocher, c'est qu'il y a une affaire principale qui traverse toute la saison, une affaire secondaire dont on parle de temps en temps, puis toutes les autres petites affaires qui changent au fil des épisodes. Cela devenait un peu longuet pour l'affaire principale, mais à part cela, c'était très bien mené et très bien joué.

   Pour ce qui est du synopsis : Mickey Haller avait pris l'habitude d'étudier ses dossiers et d'y réfléchir dans sa voiture de marque Lincoln, ce qui explique le titre. L'avocat Mickey Haller a interrompu sa carrière pour des raisons personnelles (un accident notamment) et il est appelé à remplacer un confrère décédé, Jerry Vincent, qui l'a désigné comme successeur de son cabinet. Plusieurs affaires sont en cours et il doit donc prendre connaissance des différents dossiers au + vite. A côté de cela, il doit gérer sa vie privée. Il a 2 ex-femmes et une fille de la première. Ses 2 ex-épouses sont en bons termes entre elles et avec lui, puisque la 2e est carrément son assistante juridique. Son père était avocat également, ce qui lui a permis de fréquenter les tribunaux et assister aux procès depuis très jeune. L'avocat décédé ayant été assassiné, une enquête est menée et Mickey Haller craint pour sa vie ainsi que celle de sa famille, puisque ce meurtre semble bien être en lien avec un des dossiers dont il a hérité.

   A la fin de la saison, on nous laisse une porte grande ouverte pour une suite. Netflix n'a pas encore commandé la saison 2, mais c'est très probable qu'il y en ait une. Dans l'affirmative, elle sera disponible en mai 2023 et se composera également de 10 épisodes.

   L'acteur Manuel Garcia-Rulfo commence à être pas mal connu. Vous l'avez peut-être vu dans la dernière version des 7 Mercenaires en 2016 ou aux côtés de Ryan Reynolds dans 6 Underground en 2019.

   Je ne sais pas encore ce qu'on va regarder ce soir, ce sera donc une surprise pour tout le monde 😊
