One of the biggest missions involving any movie (or television) adaptation is to be faithful to its source materials. Narrative or visual references always matter a lot, because it is through them that the audience who has a previous connection with the material will certainly care about what they are watching. Without this maintenance of ideas, it is unlikely that a new version will be made. Fortunately, this is not the case here because everything works fine.

Based on the true worldwide phenomenon produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios, and created by the duo Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender tells the story of Aang, who even though he is just a child, already has a great responsibility ahead of him: save planet earth. This will only be possible if he uses his powers as an avatar to maintain peace and balance between the four nations: fire, earth, water and air.

As an avatar, Aang can master and use the four elements in an extraordinary way. Therefore, his ability begins to be the target of a real hunt by the kingdom of fire, which calls itself the greatest nation on the planet, but to obtain total hegemony of power, they need to destroy each and every avatar, and that includes a young man they didn't even know existed. Based on this premise, the script creates an excellent starting point here.

So far I've only watched the first episode, and based on that, I can say that the beginning seems very promising, especially because it seems that the writers did their homework very well in relation to what can be seen in the material it serves. as the basis for creating this live action adaptation. Betting on a production with high technical quality, the first episode is a very attractive invitation for the entire season to be watched.

Although there are conveniences that in essence do not affect the quality of the script (but create an escapist atmosphere to provide very quick solutions to some specific events, such as Aang's escape from the Fire Nation ship), all the entertainment that the television series set out to bring is achieved. The pace of action was frenetic, featuring beautiful war choreography, but I missed a slightly more elaborate dramatic development.

Starring Gordon Cormier (who has a very charismatic presence, despite his limited acting talent), the television series also features Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley in the supporting cast (forming the central trio: Aang, Soka and Katara) and together they they even increase the chemistry between their characters, but remain limited in terms of performances. The creation is by Albert Kim, which surprises in its scenography, costumes and special effects.

El ritmo de acción era frenético, destacando hermosas coreografías bélicas, pero se echó en falta un desarrollo dramático un poco más elaborado.

Apostando em uma produção com uma alta qualidade técnica, o primeiro episódio é um convite muito atrativo para que toda a temporada seja assistida.

Bueno, como podrán notar es una trama bastante simple y nada fuera de lo común, pero lo que hay que destacar es el trasfondo de esta historia. Empezando con que Lia es china y ellos tienen toda una cultura bastante estricta en ciertos temas. Sin embargo, Lia se animó a desafiar las reglas al irse de su ciudad natal y perseguir su sueño, aunque al principio no haya resultado como lo esperaba, finge sobre este hecho porque no quiere que la tilden como el fracaso de su familia. A esto se suma que su hermana pequeña se está por casar y ella todavía sigue soltera. Que no tendría nada de malo, pero de nuevo, ya saben cómo funcionan este tipo de culturas con respecto al matrimonio.

De todos modos, pienso que esta no es la típica familia china que se deben estar imaginando, no los sentí muy estrictos o rígidos como se podría dar a entender. Es una familia disfuncional, pero eso la hace mucho más cercana a la realidad. Cada uno de ellos tiene una personalidad bastante risueña y arrolladora, eso sí, pueden resultar bastante intensos. Es por esto que la relación de la protagonista con ellos es distante, pero al final logran limar sus asperezas.

Anyway, I think this is not the typical Chinese family you might be imagining, I didn't feel them very strict or rigid as you might imply. It's a dysfunctional family, but that makes it much closer to reality. Each one of them has a pretty laugh-out-loud personality, but they can be quite intense. This is why the protagonist's relationship with them is distant, but in the end they manage to iron out their differences.

Regarding the blind dates organized by her relatives, I must say that they were quite comical. It's funny to see how each one thought about what could be useful to her, which in the end ends up getting good things out of these outings, but far from what she really wanted. La verdad es una película muy entretenida, me encontré riendo en varias partes y al final fue lo suficiente emotiva como a mí me suelen gustar. También tuvo su buena dosis de romance del bueno, de ese que me encanta mirar. Así que mi valoración es positiva. The truth is a very entertaining movie, I found myself laughing in several parts and at the end it was emotional enough as I usually like. It also had a good dose of good romance, the kind I love to watch. So my rating is positive. Like all series, that we have seen in the majority, they begin full of emotion, it is there where they catch us, with their stories, their characters, but as they advance, we make an expectation, waiting for a great ending, unfortunately, this very rarely happens, it is in the end, when some disappoint us, not all, but mostly.

I confess that this series, I started watching it a while ago, but I never finished watching it, but recently I decided to retake it, of course I went back to watch it complete, to remember it well, and thus give the follow-up, with each character; and when I reached a certain part of the seasons, I felt it a little forced, with the new characters, with the change of some, not to mention that great ending, what good, it could have been better, it could have been better.

This series will not bore you, not at all, it will have its moments, yes, but it has its dramatic, horror, bloody scenes, if you like this style, I invite you to watch it.

You will love some characters, you will hate others, you will admire the attitude and bravery of some, you will be frustrated by the attitude of others, but without a doubt, it is a series that will make you see the value of friendship, trust, character, and most importantly, seeking to survive in a world full of chaos and selfishness; all eager for power, wanting to lead, and dominate.

Synopsis: A very immersive documentary about what happened to Albert Einstein after he fled Nazi Germany and how he was tormented throughout his life because of a single decision.

Alternating between several photos and many archive videos about important parts of the personal life of the genius Albert Einstein and personified representations by a cast that tries to create an atmosphere closer to the audience, this documentary has a powerful essence, but despite all its good intentions (which arouses a lot of curiosity and a legitimate interest in understanding more about the situations that are shown), the project has a negative balance because it relies on a mixture of arguments that cannot be as well developed, despite being very thought-provoking.

Basically, the script works in two ways. In the first, the narrative is told through personal photos and videos that are edited to try to create a non-linear timeline about the facts chosen to be in the movie. In the second, the narrative relies on the interpretation of a cast that tries to “modernize” the events so that everyone can feel a little closer to the facts. The third way chosen by the script is to try to create a point where there is a constant “convergence” between everything, and that is precisely where the documentary fails in all its attempts.

While only working with his personal collection, the idea of delving into Einstein's life focusing on the period when he fled Nazi Germany (and even a little before that in some specific scenes) is very efficient. There are many interesting points that are brought to the documentary, such as: his irony in not liking people with a lot of authority (and ending up becoming one due to the impact of his work and his discoveries), the more politicized side that brought him several personal and professional problems, as well as one horrible regret in particular.

This whole context is very good. Each new part of this story that is told brings more content to the movie, which is full of this type of material. Through these excerpts we can get to know a little better how he felt as a genius, as a political opinion maker (even though he never wanted to become a celebrity) and especially as a human being tormented by a single bad decision that helped change the world (for worse or for better will depend a lot on each person's point of view), but it has brought eternal complications.

When the script tries to throw everything into a slightly more “modern” time, an extremely inexpressive cast enters the scene with notable characterization problems. In particular, the protagonist himself, who comes to life through Aidan McArdle and a precarious (and limited) makeup job. No one can deliver a performance worthy of what is being told. Furthermore, the scenes are played on the screen without any greater purpose and only create a “temporal distortion”, as if there were actually two stories in parallel that were being interconnected.

At these moments, although there are some interesting scene transitions, everything is very flawed because it breaks the entire narrative rhythm that was previously built. Promoting this idea, the documentary fluctuates a lot in all its qualities, as if it were on a roller coaster full of errors with just a few occasional successes along the way. From afar, it is possible to notice that this Netflix production did not receive much money to have more elaborate production work, and unfortunately, for the chosen path, investing more money would be essential.

Anyway, even though it is a very problematic documentary, the narrative line brings a lot of information and the reality behind some very important facts regarding Einstein's relationship with the creation of the atomic bomb, and this is where the documentary has its crucial flaw: not delve deeper into the idea that is the reason for its existence. Little is said about his relationship with the creation of the atomic bomb, summing it all up to his regret (which is eternal, and also psychologically brutal) in making public his valuable theory about the equivalence between matter and energy.

Einstein and the Bomb is much more concerned with showing a dramatic (and political) panorama of how Nazi Germany impacted the life of a genius forever. Also investing in some moments full of reflection, director Anthony Philipson even tries to work well with all the facts he has at hand, but he is very lost in directing them, without drawing up an action plan. The short running time also works against the documentary, which is summarized in a projection of just over 60 minutes. Was it so difficult to realize that Einstein deserved so much more than that?

Sinopse: Um documentário bem imersivo sobre o que aconteceu com Albert Einstein depois que ele fugiu da Alemanha nazista e como ele foi atormentado durante toda à sua por causa de uma única decisão.

Alternando entre diversas fotos e muitos vídeos de arquivo sobre importantes pedaços da vida pessoal do gênio Albert Einstein e representações personificadas por um elenco que tenta criar uma atmosfera mais próximo do público, este documentário tem uma essência poderosa, mas apesar de toda à sua boa intenção (que desperta muita curiosidade e um legítimo interesse em entender mais sobre as situações que são mostradas), o projeto tem um saldo negativo por apostar em uma mescla de argumentações que não consegue ser tão bem desenvolvida, apesar de ser bem instigante.

Basicamente, o roteiro trabalha de duas maneiras. Na primeira, a narrativa é contada através de fotos e vídeos pessoais que são editados para tentar criar uma linha do tempo não-linear sobre os fatos escolhidos para estarem no filme. Na segunda, a narrativa aposta na interpretação de um elenco que tenta “modernizar” os acontecimentos para que todos possam se sentir um pouco mais próximos dos fatos. A terceira via escolhida pelo roteiro é tentar criar um ponto onde há uma constante “convergência” entre tudo, e é justamente aí que o documentário falha em todas as suas tentativas.

Enquanto trabalha apenas com o acervo pessoal, a ideia de mergulhar na vida de Einstein focando no período em que ele foge de Alemanha nazista (e até um pouco antes disso em algumas cenas específicas) é muito eficiente. Há muitos pontos interessantes que são trazidos para o documentário, como por exemplo: a ironia dele em não gostar de pessoas com muita autoridade (e acabar se tornando uma devido ao impacto do seu trabalho e suas descobertas), o lado mais politizado que lhe trouxe vários problemas pessoais e profissionais, além de um horrível arrependimento em particular.

Todo esse contexto é muito bom. Cada nova parte dessa história que é contada traz mais conteúdo para o filme, que é repleto deste tipo de material. Através desses recortes nós podemos conhecer um pouco melhor como ele se sentia enquanto gênio, enquanto formador de opinião política (mesmo que nunca quisesse ter se tornado uma celebridade) e principalmente enquanto ser humano atormentado por uma única decisão ruim que ajudou a mudar o mundo (para pior ou para melhor vai depender muito do ponto de vista de cada pessoa), mas que lhe trouxe complicações eternas.

Quando o roteiro tenta jogar tudo para um tempo um pouco mais “moderno”, entra em cena um elenco extremamente inexpressivo e com notáveis problemas de caracterização. Em especial, o próprio protagonista, que ganha vida através de Aidan McArdle e um precário (e limitado) trabalho de maquiagem. Ninguém consegue entregar uma performance digna do que está sendo contado. Além do mais, as cenas são jogadas na tela sem maiores propósitos e criam apenas uma “distorção temporal”, como se na verdade houvessem duas histórias em paralelo que estavam sendo interligadas.

Nestes momentos, apesar de haver algumas transições de cenas interessantes, tudo é muito falho porque quebra todo o ritmo narrativo que é construído anteriormente. Fomentando esta ideia, o documentário oscila bastante em toda as suas qualidades, como se estivesse em uma montanha-russa repleta de erros com apenas alguns acertos pontuais no meio do seu caminho. De longe, é possível notar que essa produção da Netflix não recebeu tanto dinheiro para ter um trabalho de produção mais elaborado, e infelizmente, para o caminho escolhido, investir mais dinheiro seria essencial.

De qualquer maneira, mesmo sendo um documentário bem problemático, a linha narrativa traz muitas informações e à realidade por trás de alguns fatos importantíssimos para a relação de Einstein com a criação da bomba atômica, e é aqui que o documentário tem à sua falha crucial: não se aprofundar na ideia que é à razão da sua existência. Pouco se fala sobre à relação dele com a criação da bomba atômica, resumindo tudo ao arrependimento dele (que é eterno, e também psicologicamente brutal) em tornar pública à sua valiosa teoria sobre a equivalência entre matéria e energia.

Einstein e a Bomba se preocupa muito mais em mostrar um panorama dramático (e político) sobre como a Alemanha nazista impactou à vida um gênio para sempre. Apostando também em alguns momentos cheios de reflexão, o diretor Anthony Philipson até tenta trabalhar bem todos os fatos que tem mãos, mas fica muito perdido ao direcioná-los, sem traçar um plano de ação. O curto tempo de duração também trabalha contra o documentário, que fica resumido a uma projeção de pouco mais de 60 minutos. Será que era tão difícil perceber que Einstein merecia muito mais do que isso?

The series puts us in the shoes of Lee Tang, a boy without a clear purpose to live for, after being discharged from the army, he spends most of his time at his parents' house thinking every day about going on vacation to Canada but he can't afford it either, since the only job he can aspire to is the one he already has, attending a small store near the apartment he rents, this job barely covers his studies and to keep himself alive. On a closing day at work, Lee Tang will have to attend to a duo of subjects, one of them very drunk and nefarious, where he will maintain a passive attitude to avoid causing problems. On his way home, he will come across the same nefarious man "sleeping" on the ground and his companion standing around, the latter demanding Lee Tang to leave, not listening, Lee Tang will be attacked by the man, causing him to make the decision to defend himself for the first time in his life, using a hammer he had borrowed from work.

Lee Tang had no intention of killing him but he did, now guilt is eating away at him and he thinks he will be caught, he also left the murder weapon at the crime scene, although everything takes an unexpected turn when the police arrive the next day and the crime scene suggests that the two men there killed each other, also there is no hammer, causing no evidence of Lee Tang. The only one who will pursue Lee Tang will be detective Jang Nan-gam, who has a hunch due to his infallible instinct despite having no proof that he is guilty; Lee Tang will become a sort of vigilante because all the murders he commits seem to leave no evidence and all the people he kills are criminals or the worst kind of killers.

No matter how healthy you consider yourself, perhaps you too are on the verge of committing a "bad" act in order to protect the "good", the factors just have to come together for it to happen.
