Esta película no es apta para personas con heridas emocionales abiertas porque su historia, su final, te hará llorar a moco suelto.

Hacía scroll de películas y quise ver una de comedia, vi al popular Latrell Spencer en ella y pensé que sería genial pero a 30 minutos de la misma aun no aparecía y todo hablaba de cosas que no se pueden hablar aqui, además no era graciosa. Cambié de canal y caí en otra que por el titulo "The Time capsule" me pareció interesante, es drama y ciencia ficción pero no imaginé que iba a ser tan romántica. Ya a las escenas finales terminó de enamorarme y conectarme con mi parte que creí haber sanado para darme cuenta que aunque no hablemos de estas cosas, es una herida emocional abierta: La pérdida y desearía con todo el alma, así como en la película, manipular el tiempo y darme o darnos una nueva oportunidad, pues en el presente para uno de los dos a acabado radicalmente, mientras que "quien viajó" sigue congelado en el tiempo manteniendo sus sentimientos hacia la otra persona intactos.

Greetings dear moviegoers! This movie is not suitable for people with open emotional wounds because its story, its ending, will make you cry your eyes out. I was scrolling through movies and I wanted to see a comedy movie, I saw the popular Latrell Spencer in it and I thought it would be great but 30 minutes into the movie he still didn't appear and everything was talking about things that can't be talked about here, plus it wasn't funny. I changed the channel and fell in another one that by the title "The Time capsule" seemed interesting, it is drama and science fiction but I didn't imagine it was going to be so romantic. By the final scenes I ended up falling in love and connecting with my part that I thought I had healed to realize that although we do not talk about these things, it is an open emotional wound: The loss and I wish with all my soul, as in the film, manipulate time and give me or give us a new opportunity, because in the present for one of the two has ended radically, while "who traveled" is still frozen in time keeping their feelings for the other person intact.

According to a message that appears at the beginning of the film, La Ola (The Wave) is loosely inspired by events that occurred in Chile in May 2018. As we recall, in October of that same year, what became known as the Social Outburst occurred, a popular movement that sought to expose a series of inefficient or downright reprehensible public policies. There were protests, riots, demonstrations, a referendum was called to change the constitution, and so far... nothing has come of it. But a good part of the strength of that movement came from the so-called feminist wave, which had already been taking shape since May. In this context, we follow Julia (Daniela López), a music student at a university where students interrupt activities to denounce the harassment and sexual abuse they have endured from professors and other students for too long. With a large banner covering the entire center of campus, the girls make it clear: "Rapists graduate at this university." Authorities are urging people to report their attackers by name, but victims are reluctant to do so because there are no protection protocols for them, which means that reporting them can be more harmful to the victims than to the attackers. Tired of the authorities' ineffectiveness, the university's girls' movement seeks two things. First: to be heard. Second: justice.

De acuerdo a un mensaje que aparece al inicio del film, La Ola es una película libremente inspirada en eventos ocurridos en Chile en Mayo de 2018. Como recordamos, en Octubre de ese mismo año se produjo lo que se conoció como el Estallido Social, un movimiento popular que buscaba visibilizar una serie de políticas públicas ineficientes o directamente condenables. Hubo protestas, disturbios, manifestaciones, se convocó un referéndum para cambiar la constitución y hasta ahora... no se ha llegado a nada. Pero buena parte de la fuerza de ese movimiento vino de la llamada ola feminista que ya venía pronunciándose desde el mes de mayo. En ese marco, seguimos a Julia (Daniela López) una estudiante de música que estudia en una universidad en donde las estudiantes interrumpen las actividades para denunciar el acoso y los abusos sexuales que han soportado, por parte de profesores y otros alumnos, durante demasiado tiempo. Con una gran pancarta que cubre todo el centro del campus, las chicas lo dejan claro: "En esta universidad se titulan violadores". Las autoridades llaman a denunciar con nombre y apellido a los agresores, pero las víctimas no quieren hacerlo porque no existen protocolos de protección para ellas, con lo que la denuncia puede ser más perjudicial para las víctimas que para los agresores. Cansadas de la ineficiencia de las autoridades, el movimiento de chicas de la universidad busca dos cosas. Primero: ser escuchadas. Segundo: que se haga justicia.

At first, Julia feels very separated from her fellow activists, but a confusing encounter with Max, her singing teacher's assistant, shakes up her world and her reality, unwittingly leading her to become the center and voice of a struggle that is now also her own. The point is that this isn't an issue that affects one or two victims. It affects many. Time and again, girls are assaulted, abused, and raped by their fellow students or their teachers. And the system remains silent. And amidst that silence, Julia's voice will resonate.

Al principio, Julia se siente muy separada de sus compañeras activistas, pero un confuso encuentro con Max, el ayudante de su profesora de canto, sacude su mundo y su realidad y la llevará, involuntariamente, a convertirse en el centro y en la voz de una lucha que ahora también es suya. El punto es que no es un tema que afecta a una o dos víctimas. Son muchas. Una y otra vez las chicas son agredidas, abusadas y violadas por sus compañeros estudiantes o por sus profesores. In my opinion, of all the countries in South America, Chile has the strongest feminist movement and the one where there is the most space to discuss gender issues. However, paradoxically, feminism is a sensitive topic in Chile. On the one hand, there is a strong identification and pride in feeling feminist, but at the same time, there is a kind of shame or rejection of the term. In the same country where women are increasingly represented in public power, in management positions in companies, and in spaces historically monopolized by men, gender-based violence and femicides don't seem to be decreasing. It's as if this were, simultaneously, the worst and the best time to be a woman. Portraying a reality like that in an era famous for its cancel culture is no easy task. It was almost impossible to tell this story and show all its facets without some sectors coming out to complain, but - in my opinion - director Sebastián Lelio found that almost and from there he successfully told a complex story both in content and form, because The Wave is not only a drama film but also a musical. There's dancing, singing, choreography, but also denunciation, crying, anger, injustice, social criticism, criticism of institutions, of journalism, confusion, more questions than answers and a fairly complete look, from different angles and positions, at complex problems, which combines very well with narrative resources such as comedy and metafiction.

En mi opinión, de todos los países de América del Sur, Chile es el que tiene un movimiento feminista más fuerte y en el que hay más espacio para hablar de cuestiones de género. Sin embargo, por paradójico que parezca, el feminismo es un tema delicado en Chile. Por un lado existe una fuerte identificación y orgullo en sentirse feminista, pero al mismo tiempo hay una especie de vergüenza o rechazo al término; en el mismo país en el que la mujer tiene cada vez mayor representación en el poder público, en cargos directivos en empresas y en espacios históricamente monopolizados por los hombres, la violencia de género y los femicidios no parecen disminuir. Es como si este fuera, a la vez, el peor y el mejor momento para ser mujer. Retratar una realidad como esa en una época famosa por su cultura de la cancelación no es tarea fácil. Era casi imposible contar esta historia y mostrar todas sus aristas sin que saliera algún sector a reclamar, pero - en en mi opinión - el director Sebastián Lelio encontró ese casi y desde allí contó, con éxito, una historia compleja tanto en el fondo como en la forma, porque La Ola no es sólo una película dramática sino que también es un musical. Hay baile, canto, coreografías, pero también denuncia, llanto, rabia, injusticia, crítica social, crítica a las instituciones, al periodismo, confusión, más preguntas que respuestas y una mirada bastante completa, desde distintos ángulos y posturas, de problemas complejos, que combina muy bien con recursos narrativos como la comedia y la metaficción.

Santiago de Chile is another protagonist in the film. Iconic and recognizable landmarks such as San Diego Street, the Stock Exchange building on Nueva York Street, the National Institute, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santiago Metro stations, the National Archives, the Lastarria neighborhood, and the GAM (Gabriela Mistral Center) are elevated to cinematic mythology thanks to Echazarreta's photography. However, the film's true strength lies in how it brings painful, confusing, but necessary themes and questions to the table (on screen): Is it or should it be illegal to expose someone? Is it worth washing our hands of this society by saying "this is what I was taught"? To what extent are parents or institutions responsible, and to what extent are the aggressor responsible? What is the correct way to cover this type of news? And many other questions worth discussing collectively. Santiago de Chile es una protagonista más en la cinta. Rincones tan emblemáticos y reconocibles como la calle San Diego, el edificio de la Bolsa en la calle Nueva York, el Instituto Nacional, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, estaciones del Metro de Santiago, el Archivo Nacional, el barrio Lastarria y el GAM (Centro Gabriela Mistral), son elevados aquí a mitología cinematográfica gracias a la fotografía de Echazarreta. Como las buenas historias, La Ola es profundamente particular - ADN 100% chileno - pero a la vez increíblemente universal, así que les recomiendo verla en cualquier lugar en donde estén, ¿cuántos de ustedes la han visto ya? Although it is not sufficiently comprehensive in all the debates (and reflections) it aims to bring to the audience, it is very assertive in its feat of fueling debates that certainly last much longer than its running time (this being my biggest "negative" criticism of this movie, which missed the opportunity to become more profound).

In this Brazilian drama (with some very specific politically dystopian touches), Tereza is a 77-year-old woman living in an industrialized city in the Amazon region. Faced with an official call from the national government, she finds herself forced to "surrender" to the current laws of this system, which prevents any and all elderly people (over 75) from living outside what is called a special "housing colony" for seniors, where they can supposedly "enjoy" their remaining years. However, she decides to go against the system and embarks on an incredible and powerful journey of self-discovery, where she will ultimately find (and provide) "answers" she never expected to find (or even offer).

It's not just about refusing to accept the idea of living in seclusion in a new kind of "society," it's about understanding oneself as part of the world as a human being, with all one's dreams and desires (despite one's advanced age). The entire purpose of this "housing law" for seniors to live together was actually created by the national government to fuel its brutal capitalist bias, which sees even people as a significant financial asset, turning them into mere products on the shelves of a vast open-air market. Fighting against this, Tereza decides to act like someone who wants to take justice into her own hands, sparing no effort to finally get where she wants to go.

Desperately searching for a way out of this "hell" disguised as "paradise," she embarks on a journey with intense human potential. Sailing the waters of various rivers and tributaries, she unleashes everything she wanted to do before but never had (until then). In this quest, she not only discovers a better version of herself but also manages to awaken this in some others around her (such as a somewhat troubled illegal goods smuggler and an elderly nautical traveler with no clear direction). Her journey to maturity is deeply inspiring, portrayed through small adventures in a kind of boat movie.

There is a lot of beauty in this movie, from its simple production aspect (which ends up making this project much more charming due to its intimate and cozy atmosphere) to its strong and consistent narrative structure (fostering tangible discussions about ageism, respect, freedom, politics, religiosity... just to mention a few examples), which despite having its main layers well planned, unfortunately, it doesn't manage to work very well between the lines of all its dilemmas (and a big part of this problem is the less than 80 minutes of projection that the movie has, because it is more than obvious that the project needed to have much more time to exist).

The script's content may even provoke some laughter at times (such as the scene where a car "tows" elderly people who are walking the streets, disobeying "colonial law," as if they were trash that needs to be properly collected so as not to disrupt the social life of others), but even in these more relaxed moments, the plot offers something deeply reflective. The drama is visually superficial (because the production has low financial support, which can sometimes be a negative... such as not showing what the "colony" where the elderly are sent is like), but the complexity of the issues addressed is very relevant and substantial in its context.

Denise Weinberg is the standout performer in the cast (which also features a special appearance by Rodrigo Santoro), because it's incredible how she captures the audience's attention through such a sympathetic and well-developed character (who is very strong, but also very sensitive). There are no dramatic scenes here; there's "just" life unfolding through the actions of an elderly woman who is "claiming" her own right to exist, to be seen, and to be respected as a human being. The supporting cast is interesting, but much less compelling due to the lack of depth in their respective plots (even so, they are important and quite empathetic characters).

There is no doubt that The Blue Trail is a naturally attractive movie (even because it deals with themes that are sensitive to our entire society and that inspire us to seek our own freedom, even if that sounds like something wrong... in addition to flirting with cultural issues of the Amazon, such as the issue of the blue slime of the rare snail that appears at some moments) and that it has good technical aspects (the script manages to be physically explored by an efficient scene editing, in addition to having a dense narrative, very beautiful photography and also a strategically captivating and well-scored soundtrack), but it is clear that Gabriel Mascaro did not dare enough as a director (or screenwriter).

Sinopsis: Debido a una decisión del gobierno nacional, Tereza, a punto de ser enviada al exilio forzoso en una "colonia especial" para ancianos, decide rebelarse contra el sistema opresivo que "aplasta" la existencia de esta clase social y busca su propia libertad, el derecho a ser vista (y a existir) en el mundo.

¿Alguna vez has pensado en cómo será tu vejez? Sin ningún proceso de "glamorización", aquí tienes una película con una trama sumamente interesante. Si bien no es lo suficientemente exhaustiva en todos los debates (y reflexiones) que pretende acercar al público, es muy asertiva en su intento de alimentar debates que, sin duda, duran mucho más que su metraje (esta es mi mayor crítica "negativa" a esta película, que perdió la oportunidad de profundizar).

En este drama brasileño (con toques políticamente distópicos muy específicos), Tereza es una mujer de 77 años que vive en una ciudad industrializada de la Amazonia. Ante un llamado oficial del gobierno nacional, se ve obligada a someterse a las leyes vigentes de este sistema, que impiden a todas las personas mayores de 75 años vivir fuera de lo que se denomina una "colonia de viviendas" especial para personas mayores, donde supuestamente pueden disfrutar de sus años restantes. Sin embargo, decide ir contra el sistema y se embarca en un increíble y poderoso viaje de autodescubrimiento, donde finalmente encontrará (y proporcionará) respuestas que nunca esperó encontrar (ni siquiera ofrecer).

No se trata solo de negarse a aceptar la idea de vivir en aislamiento en una nueva "sociedad", sino de comprenderse como parte del mundo, como ser humano, con todos sus sueños y deseos (a pesar de su avanzada edad). El propósito de esta "ley de vivienda" para que las personas mayores convivan fue creado por el gobierno nacional para alimentar su brutal sesgo capitalista, que considera incluso a las personas como un activo financiero significativo, convirtiéndolas en meros productos en los estantes de un vasto mercado al aire libre. Ante esto, Tereza decide actuar como quien quiere tomarse la justicia por su mano, sin escatimar esfuerzos para finalmente llegar a donde quiere ir.

Buscando desesperadamente una salida de este "infierno" disfrazado de "paraíso", se embarca en un viaje con un intenso potencial humano. Navegando por las aguas de diversos ríos y afluentes, da rienda suelta a todo lo que antes deseaba hacer, pero que nunca había logrado (hasta entonces). En esta búsqueda, no solo descubre una mejor versión de sí misma, sino que también logra despertarla en quienes la rodean (como un contrabandista con problemas y una anciana viajera náutica sin rumbo claro). Su camino hacia la madurez es profundamente inspirador, retratado a través de pequeñas aventuras en una especie de boat movie.

Hay mucha belleza en esta película, desde su sencillo aspecto de producción (que termina haciendo a este proyecto mucho más encantador debido a su atmósfera íntima y acogedora) hasta su fuerte y consistente estructura narrativa (que fomenta discusiones tangibles sobre el edadismo, el respeto, la libertad, la política, la religiosidad... solo por mencionar algunos ejemplos), que a pesar de tener sus capas principales bien planeadas, desafortunadamente, no logra trabajar muy bien entre líneas todos sus dilemas (y gran parte de este problema son los menos de 80 minutos de proyección que tiene la película, porque es más que obvio que el proyecto necesitaba tener mucho más tiempo para existir).

El contenido del guion puede incluso provocar risa en ocasiones (como la escena en la que un coche "remolca" a ancianos que caminan por las calles, desobedeciendo la "ley colonial", como si fueran basura que debe recogerse adecuadamente para no perturbar la vida social de los demás), pero incluso en estos momentos más relajados, la trama ofrece algo profundamente reflexivo. El drama es visualmente superficial (debido a que la producción cuenta con poco apoyo financiero, lo que a veces puede ser negativo, como no mostrar cómo es la "colonia" donde se envía a los ancianos), pero la complejidad de los temas abordados es muy relevante y sustancial en su contexto.

Denise Weinberg es la actriz más destacada del reparto (que también cuenta con la participación especial de Rodrigo Santoro), pues es increíble cómo capta la atención del público a través de un personaje tan simpático y bien desarrollado (muy fuerte, pero también muy sensible). No hay escenas dramáticas; simplemente se vive la vida a través de las acciones de una anciana que reivindica su derecho a existir, a ser vista y respetada como ser humano. El reparto secundario es interesante, pero mucho menos convincente debido a la falta de profundidad en sus respectivas tramas (aun así, son personajes importantes y bastante empáticos).

No cabe duda de que The Blue Trail es una película naturalmente atractiva (incluso porque trata temas sensibles para toda nuestra sociedad y que nos inspiran a buscar nuestra propia libertad, aunque eso suene a algo erróneo… además de coquetear con cuestiones culturales de la Amazonía, como el tema de la baba azul del raro caracol que aparece en algunos momentos) y que tiene buenos aspectos técnicos (el guion logra ser explorado físicamente por un eficiente montaje de escenas, además de tener una narrativa densa, una fotografía muy bella y también una banda sonora estratégicamente cautivadora y bien orquestada), pero está claro que Gabriel Mascaro no se atrevió lo suficiente como director (ni como guionista).

Sinopse: Por uma decisão do governo nacional, prestes a ser enviada para um exílio forçado em uma “colônia especial” para idosos, Tereza, decide então se rebelar contra o sistema opressor que “esmaga” a existência dessa camada social, e vai em busca da sua própria liberdade pelo direito de ser vista (e de existir) no mundo.

Você já pensou em como será à sua velhice? Se sim, já pensou em como será fazer parte desse grupo de pessoas? Com quem você vai estar? Como você vai estar? Como irá se manter financeiramente? Entre essas e outras questões... Sem qualquer processo de “glamourificação”, eis aqui um filme que tem uma trama extremamente interessante. Ainda que não seja suficientemente abrangente em todos os debates (e reflexões) que se propõe a trazer para o público, é muito assertivo na sua proeza de alimentar os debates que certamente são bem mais longos do que o seu tempo de projeção (sendo esta, a minha maior crítica “negativa” sobre este filme, que perdeu a oportunidade de se tornar mais profundo).

Neste drama brasileiro (com alguns toques politicamente distópicos bem pontuais), Tereza é uma idosa de 77 anos que vive em uma cidade industrializada na região da Amazônia. Diante de um chamado oficial do governo nacional, ela se vê forçada a “render-se” as leis vigentes desse sistema, que impede todo e qualquer idoso (acima dos 75 anos) de viver fora do que é chamado de “colônia habitacional” especial para idosos, onde eles supostamente podem “desfrutar” dos seus próximos anos de vida. No entanto, ela decide ir contra o sistema e embarca numa incrível e poderosa jornada de autodescoberta, onde ela acabará encontrando (e dando) “respostas” que jamais esperava encontrar (ou até oferecer).

Não se trata apenas de não aceitar a ideia de viver reclusa em um novo tipo de “sociedade”, se trata sobre se entender enquanto parte do mundo como ser humano, com todos os seus sonhos e desejos (apesar da idade já avançada). Todos os propósitos dessa “lei da habitação” para convivência entre idosos, na verdade, foi criada pelo governo nacional para alimentar todo seu viés capitalista e brutal, que enxerga até mesmo nas pessoas uma grande cifra financeira, tornando-as então em meros produtos na prateleira de um grande mercado a céu aberto. Lutando contra isso, Tereza decide agir como alguém que quer fazer justiça com as próprias mãos, sem medir esforços para finalmente chegar onde ela desejar.

Desesperadamente procurando uma saída desse “inferno” disfarçado “paraíso”, ela então mergulha numa viagem com um potencial de humanidade muito intenso, e navegando nas águas de diferentes rios e afluentes, ela vai dando vazão a tudo o que ela queria ter feito antes e nunca havia feito (até então). Nessa busca, ela não apenas conhece uma versão melhor dela mesma, mas também consegue despertar isso em algumas outras pessoas que estão ao redor dela (como um atravessador de mercadorias ilegais meio conturbado, e uma viajante náutica - também idosa - sem rumo definido). O caminho de amadurecimento é muito inspirador, e retratado por pequenas aventuras numa espécie de boat movie.

Há muita beleza neste filme, desde o seu aspecto simples de produção (o que acaba tornando esse projeto uma coisa muito mais charmosa pela sua atmosfera intimista e aconchegante) até a sua estrutura forte e consistente narrativa (fomentando discussões tangíveis sobre etarismo, respeito, liberdade, política, religiosidade... apenas para mencionar alguns exemplos), que apesar de ter as suas principais camadas bem planejadas, infelizmente, não consegue trabalhar muito bem nas entrelinhas de todos seus dilemas (e uma grande parte desse problema são os menos de 80 minutos de projeção que o filme tem, porque fica mais do que óbvio que o projeto precisava ter muito mais tempo para existir).

O teor do roteiro pode até causar algumas risadas em algum momento (como a cena em que um carro “reboca” idosos que estão andando pelas ruas e desobedecendo a “lei colonial”, como se eles fossem uma parte do lixo que precisa ser devidamente recolhido para não atrapalhar o convívio social das demais pessoas), mas até mesmo nesses momentos mais descontraídos, a trama traz algo muito reflexivo. O drama é visualmente superficial (porque a produção tem uma captação financeira baixa, o que acaba sendo algo negativo às vezes... como não mostrar como é a “colônia” para onde os idosos são enviados), mas a complexidade dos assuntos abordados é muito relevante e substancial no seu contexto.

Denise Weinberg é o grande destaque do elenco (que ainda conta com uma participação especial de Rodrigo Santoro), porque é incrível como ela consegue captar a atenção do público através de uma personagem tão simpática e tão bem construída (que é muito forte, mas ao mesmo tempo, também é muito sensível). Não há cenas mirabolantes aqui, há “apenas” à vida acontecendo diante das ações de uma idosa que está “reivindicando” o seu próprio direito de existir, de ser vista, e de ser respeitada enquanto ser humano. O elenco coadjuvante é interessante, mas muito menos visceral pela falta de profundidade em suas respectivas tramas (ainda sim, são personagens importantes e bastante empáticos).

Não há dúvidas de que O Último Azul é um filme naturalmente atrativo (até porque lida com temas que são sensíveis à toda nossa sociedade e que nos inspira a buscar pela nossa própria liberdade, ainda que isso soe como algo errado... além de flertar com questões culturais da Amazônia, como a questão da baba azul do raro caracol que surge em alguns momentos) e que tem bons aspectos técnicos (o roteiro consegue ser fisicamente explorado por uma edição de cenas eficiente, além de ter uma narrativa densa, uma fotografia muito bonita e também uma trilha sonora estrategicamente cativante e bem pontuada), mas é notório que** Gabriel Mascaro** não ousou o suficiente enquanto diretor (ou roteirista).

Hello to those of you who enjoy a good series!

I hope you are very well. Today I bring you a series that I'm watching and I think it's very good. At first I was reluctant to watch it, because I'm one of those people who lose interest in series and I get bored quickly, but as soon as I saw the first chapter, I got hooked and I could only think: What will be next?

This series is called Alien: earth which belongs to the film saga called Alien. For those who are familiar with the saga, the story is set two years before the original 1979 film, which tells the story of Ridley Scott. Despite this, I don't see it as a series where you have to know all the details of the saga or have seen another installment before.

The series is set in the year 2120, where the world is dominated by 5 mega corporations that run life on planet earth. Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Dynamic, Lynch and Threshold. Of these mega corporations, the series focuses on Prodigy, newer than the previous ones and founded by a boy: Boy Kavalier nicknamed the "boy genius", a precocious and manipulative young man, whose intelligence leads him to play god.

Years before the central events of the series, determined to "end" death, Boy decided to create synthetic human bodies of adults and transfer the consciousnesses of an unspecified number of children with various terminal illnesses, whose families were made to believe they had died. Alluding to this, he named them after the story of Peter Pan, giving the once "children" the names of the lost children in the tale.

Prominent among these children is "Wendy", a girl in a synthetic adult body. She is supposed to be the first child to be made synthetic and shown great favour, because Wendy has more advanced abilities and development than the others, especially more maturity. The problem is that Wendy clings to the older brother she left behind.

But soon the two siblings are reunited when the Weyland-Yutani-owned spaceship USCSS Maginot crashes to Earth, bringing with it a variety of deep space creatures, including the notorious Xenomorph, which killed all but one of the ship's crew: security officer Morrow, a modified human. Wendy's brother Hermit, a member of the rescue squad, is trapped by the Xenomorph and Wendy will do anything to save her brother, including going against the man who gave him a new life.

Sooner rather than later, Prodigy gets his hands on the creatures, but Morrow will stop at nothing to get them back, while Wendy forms a deep connection with the Xenomorphs and the question begins to arise "When is a machine not a machine?"

The series from the first instant hooked me, the story and characters seem to me to be very well developed, fierce and gripping, while making a great combination between horror and suspense that comes with that moral dilemma of whether these "hybrids" are still children just because their consciousness is in those bodies.

The issue with these "children" in synthetic adult bodies is absolutely insane, although the Prodigy team of scientists try to make them grow up "mentally", trying to recreate stages such as adolescence, this is not quite achieved, so many show great immaturity or even imbalance. One of them, in her existential crises, believes that her mood swings are due to the fact that she is "pregnant" and she is not the only one who begins to question her existence or starts to look at herself in the mirror too harshly.

Although in one part it breaks with the canon by placing the Xenomorphs before the events of Alien (1979), it still has the essence of the first instalments of the saga. Combining very well the comic horror with the existential crises that more than one character has in the series.

The characters are very good, as are the relationships they manage, but ultimately, my favourite dynamic is that of the siblings, even though there remains the uncomfortable doubt as to whether Wendy is still Hermit's sister. The biological and psychological horror is very good and so is the CGI. All the creatures that appear are scary and the story improves as the episodes progress.It's not a sleepless fright but it's good enough for this genre.

Espero que se encuentren bien. Hoy les traigo por recomendación una serie que estoy viendo y me parece muy buena. En un principio estaba reticente a verla, porque soy de las personas que pierden interés rápido en las series y me aburren rápido, pero apenas vi el primer episodio, quedé enganchada y solo podía pensar: ¿Qué sigue?

Esta serie se llama Alíen: earth que pertenece a la saga de películas denominadas Alíen. Para quien esté familiarizado con la saga, la historia se sitúa dos años antes de la película original de 1979, que cuenta la historia de Ridley Scott. A pesar de esto, no la veo como una serie en la cual tengan que saber cada detalle de la saga o haber visto otra entrega con antelación.

La serie se desarrolla en el año 2120, donde el mundo se encuentra dominado por 5 mega corporaciones que dirigen la vida en el planeta tierra. Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Dynamic, Lynch y Threshold. De estas mega corporaciones, la serie se enfoca en Prodigy, más nueva que las anteriores y fundada por un niño: Boy Kavalier apodado como el “niño genio”, un joven precoz y manipulador, cuya inteligencia lo lleva a jugar a ser dios.

Años antes de los eventos centrales que desarrolla la serie, decidido con “acabar” con la muerte, Boy decide crear cuerpos humanos sintéticos de adultos y traspasar las conciencias de un número no especificado de niños con diversas enfermedades terminales, de cuyas familias hizo creer que habían muerto. Haciendo alusión a esto, les puso nombres referentes al cuento de Peter Pan, dándoles a los que alguna vez fueron “niños”, los nombres que tenían los niños perdidos del cuento.

De entre estos niños destaca “Wendy”, una niña en un cuerpo sintético de adulta. Se presume que es la primera niña a la que volvió sintética y a la que muestra un gran favoritismo, debido a que Wendy presenta habilidades y un desarrollo más avanzado que los demás, sobre todo más madurez. ¿El problema?, Wendy se aferra al hermano mayor que dejó atrás.

Pero pronto ambos hermanos se reencuentran cuando la nave espacial USCSS Maginot propiedad de Weyland-Yutani, se estrella contra la tierra, trayendo consigo una variedad de criaturas del espacio profundo, entre ellas el famoso Xenomorfo, quien mato a todos los tripulantes de la nave, exceptuando a uno: el oficial de seguridad Morrow, un humano modificado. El hermano de Wendy, Hermit perteneciente al escuadrón de rescate, es atrapado por el Xenomorfo y Wendy hará lo que sea para salvar a su hermano, incluso ir en contra del hombre que le dio una nueva vida.

Más pronto que tarde, Prodigy se hace con las criaturas, pero Morrow no se detendrá ante nada para recuperarlas, mientras Wendy forma una conexión profunda con los Xenomorfos y empieza a surgir la pregunta “¿Cuándo una máquina no es una máquina?”

La serie desde el primer instante me enganchó, la historia y los personajes me parece muy bien desarrollada, es feroz y atrayente, a la vez que hace una gran combinación entre horror y suspenso que viene acompañado de ese dilema moral de si esos “híbridos” siguen siendo niños solo porque sus conciencias estén en esos cuerpos.

El asunto con esos “niños” en cuerpos sintéticos de adultos, es una absoluta locura, aunque el equipo de científicos de Prodigy trata de que “mentalmente” crezcan, tratando de recrear etapas como la adolescencia, no se logra totalmente, por lo que muchos presentan una gran inmadurez o incluso desequilibrios. Una en sus crisis existenciales cree que sus cambios de humor son porque está “embarazada” y no es la única que empieza a cuestionar su existencia o empezar a verse al espejo con demasiado ahínco.

Aunque en una parte rompe con el canon al situar a los Xenomorfo antes de los eventos de Alíen (1979), aún tiene esa esencia de las primeras entregas de la saga. Combinando muy bien el terror cómico con las crisis existenciales que más de un personaje tiene en la serie.

Los personajes son muy buenos, así como las relaciones que manejan, pero, en definitiva, mi dinámica favorita es la de los hermanos, a pesar de que sigue la inquietud de sí Wendy sigue siendo la hermana de Hermit. El terror biológico y psicológico es muy bueno y el CGI también. Todas las criaturas que salen están de miedo y la historia en sí solo parece mejorar conforme avanzan los capítulos. No es un terpara no dormir pero es lo suficientemente bueno para este género.
