I really feel as though DC is supremely kicking Marvel's ass this year so far and while this movie isn't spectacular they did manage to make a movie without making some sort of real life political statement or doing anything that could be considered "woke" - what ever that even means anymore

What we get is a CGI filled and reasonably entertaining mindless 90 minutes of crazy stuff happening on screen intermingled with a lot of attempts at humor, some of which actually work.

The film starts out with a bunch of words on the screen and if you miss that, well you are going to be a bit lost as to where you are in time and space, so face the screen for a few minutes ok? At first I thought this was a really lazy way of introducing what is going on, but after we got our wordy "fast-forward" I was kind of glad that they did it that way.

They need to create a real enemy for Superman and I suppose this was probably easier than trying to give us a drawn out backstory and since it is Lex Luthor again anyway, we don't really need it.

It starts out with Superman near defeat, lying in the middle of the snow and this is how we get introduced to "Krypto" his super-dog. Why does superdog have some level of superpowers? Don't know! If the idea was to throw him in there for some sort of cute effect it worked on me and I think most other people.

Then we get down to a fast-forward of what the current conflict it and how it came to be. This all, thankfully, happens rather rapidly and doesn't get to much into little details that honestly, can't really be explained. The underlying reason why the world turns on Superman is actually pretty stupid, but I wont spoil it for you so you can find out for yourself.

When you see it you'll know what I mean and it is wildly dumb. I do think though, that they were trying to say something about how rapidly people can have their opinions changed by news stations having an agenda and also being propped up by bots on the internet with social media. They don't make a lecture out of it, which I would have hated if they tried, but the subtle inference that all of us are just automatons waiting for our masters to tell us what to love or hate next, is kind of true in today's time.

Whatever, they needed to create some sort of reason why Superman was going to become an enemy of the state and I guess they kind of did that.

They introduce some other characters into the film which was seriously camp but in a way it kind of worked out pretty well because they don't focus on any of them for too long and other than one of them, I don't really see DC trying to pull a Marvel and create an entire new franchise merely because they were in a Superman film. God I hope not. They server their purpose though and some of what happens with them is actually kind of funny.

This movie was always going to be a blockbuster regardless of whether or not it was actually any good but there is one character in particular who I really didn't care for at all and that was Lex Luthor. Maybe it is just because I have been exposed to him as a villain since I was a little kid and wish that they could come up with someone else... I mean, there ARE other villains in the Superman universe is there not? Does it always have to be Lex and if Lex is continually doing stuff like this over and over again, how on earth is he not in a supermax prison or put to death. That part of it doesn't make a great deal of sense to me .

I don't really fault Nicholas Hoult for his portrayal of Lex, it is just a badly written character. Some of his dialogue is interesting but as the story goes on he willingly divulges every single piece of his evil plan to everyone, even though the "battle" is still ongoing. In the end his motivations for having done everything he did is kind of "meh" and since he is the villain, obviously none of it works out.

I mean we all knew that Superman was going to emerge victorious, that is no surprise, but long-winded announcements coming from both Lex and Superman before they actually butt heads left me sighing and rolling my eyes in seat F-16 in the theater.

Should I watch it?

Honestly, I think this is one that most people can skip at the cinema. It wasn't a bad movie, it just relies very heavily on the action scenes for entertainment and while those are very well done I can honestly say that 90% of the non-action stuff / dialogue that happens in this movie is just something that would have encouraged me to switch it off entirely if I had been watching it at home. Almost all of the dialogue is borderline insufferable and it is salvaged only because it is a visual spectacle, which was expected of something with a $225 million budget.

That being said, the experience in the theater is definitely going to be a lot better than it will be once it releases to streaming - I don't think I would have made it all the way through this had I not been in a movie theater. The big screen and probably especially if you have the chance to see it in 3D will make it perhaps worthwhile to some.

If you are expecting some sort of wonderful story this is definitely not going to provide that. Most of the story honestly feels like it was written by children.

So far I have seen 3 movies this year and as sad as it it considering none of these films are great, here they are in order of how good I felt they were from best to worst.

Hello everyone! I watched the new Superman movie over the weekend. It's the latest try to revive the DC Cinematic Universe after the less than successful Justice League a few years ago. The film is directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and you can see the humor that he brings in the film.

Summary

The movie starts with Superman beaten up by an unknown masked villain. Apparently, this villain is created by Lexcorp to aid his goal in finding Superman's Fortress of Solitude and discover his secrets. Meanwhile, Superman is also involved in stopping a foreign invasion similar to what's happening in Russia and Ukraine.

Later on, we discover the truth about why Superman was sent to Earth. This is contentious since a lot of fans see this as breaking from canon but to me, it's not so. There are similar themes explored in the Superman stories throughout and this theme is also explored in James Gunn's "Brightburn" and the graphic novel, "Invincible". There was a moment in the film where Lex Luthor did something terrible while the people turned on Superman. Part of me wanted him to go John Wick and turn the movie into something like "Injustice" storyline but no, Superman frustratingly kept to his boyscout image.

The movie also introduce the Justice Gang (unofficial name) composed of Guy Gardner Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Mr. Terrific. They play the part of disparate heroes similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy where James Gunn was known for.

In the final act, Superman escapes his prison and fights the unknown villain who he unmasked. The reveal was a surprise and explains much. Krypto, the dog, did to Luthor what Superman won't do and it was a bit satisfying. Later on, we see Supergirl in the mid-credits scene.

The Characters

David Corenswet as Superman

As much as I like Henry Cavill, David Corenswet played a younger Superman well. He plays a Superman who is a bit humanlike as we saw him bleeding and defeated in the very first scene.

Nicholas Hault as Lex Luthor

Probably the best portrayal of Luthor as a criminal genius. Previous iterations of Luthor in movies didn't really get the character. Gene Hackman's was a criminal but not the rich, genius Luthor. Kevin Spacey's was crazy and Jesse Eisenberg's was even crazier.

Krypto the Superdog

I was afraid that Krypto would be too goofy (pun intended) in this movie as Gunn is known to inject humor in his movies. However, Krypto didn't appear much and was only there when needed to.

My Thoughts

Gunn’s reboot brings a bright and hopeful Superman in contrast to the darkness of Snyder era DCU. It's a callback to Superman 1978 and even has the original Superman theme by John Williams. On the other hand, part of me wanted an "Injustice" version of Superman but this would lead the DCU in another direction. The elements are there to go this route. Superman's parent's reason for sending him to Earth, Luthor's and the Earthlings actions would probably turn any other super being. That said, Superman was well received by critics and fans. This seems a great start for the DCU with Supergirl teased in the mid-credits to follow.

es uno de esos animes que te quedan incrustados en el alma, y sinceramente, no considero que exista una exageración en esa declaración. Desde el primer capítulo, la serie te cautiva con su argumento tan triste pero también alentador. La narración de Kosei, el virtuoso pianista que pierde su capacidad para "escuchar" la música tras un trauma, resonó en mi interior de manera intensa. ¿Quién alguna vez no ha experimentado el sentimiento de perder algo esencial en su vida, algo que lo caracterizaba? Ese sentimiento de vacío y la batalla por reponerse es lo que me atrajo desde el inicio, ya que es una emoción universal, aunque no se manifieste mediante la música.

is one of those anime that remain embedded in your soul, and honestly, I don't consider that there is an exaggeration in that statement. From the very first episode, the series captivates you with its sad yet heartwarming storyline. The narration of Kosei, the virtuoso pianist who loses his ability to "hear" music after a trauma, resonated within me intensely. Who hasn't ever experienced the feeling of losing something essential in their life, something that characterized them? That feeling of emptiness and the battle to recover is what attracted me from the beginning, since it is a universal emotion, even if it does not manifest itself through music.

El verdadero valor de esta serie radica en cómo se forja la relación entre Kosei y Kaori. Kaori es un torbellino de energía, un poder natural que se adentra en la vida gris de Kosei con el fin de darle vida y darle color. Admito que inicialmente, su personalidad me resultó un poco "excesiva", casi llegando a ser agobiante con su perseverancia, pero rápidamente comprendí que esa era justamente su magia. Ella no acepta un "no" por respuesta cuando se trata de la pasión, y eso es algo que Kosei necesitaba desesperadamente. The real value of this series lies in how the relationship between Kosei and Kaori is forged. I admit that initially, her personality was a bit "over the top" for me, almost becoming overwhelming with her perseverance, but I quickly understood that this was just her magic. She doesn't take "no" for an answer when it comes to passion, and that's something Kosei desperately needed. Their interaction is pure chemistry, full of funny, tender and, of course, heartbreaking moments.

Ahora, si debo citar algo que me generó un cierto conflicto, sería el ritmo en algunas secciones. En ocasiones, experimentaba la sensación de que ciertos fragmentos se prolongaban un poco más de lo necesario, particularmente en los momentos de reflexión de Kosei. Comprendo que es crucial para el crecimiento del personaje, sin embargo, hubo momentos en los que la narrativa se percibió como excesivamente cargada. No obstante, esto representa un aspecto menor en relación con la hermosura global de la obra. Adicionalmente, la animación de los fragmentos musicales es, sin exagerar, sublime. Now, if I must cite something that generated a certain conflict for me, it would be the pacing in some sections. At times, I experienced the feeling that certain fragments went on a bit longer than necessary, particularly in Kosei's moments of reflection. I understand that this is crucial to the character's growth, however, there were times when the narrative was perceived as being overly burdened. However, this represents a minor aspect in relation to the overall beauty of the work. Additionally, the animation of the musical excerpts is, without exaggeration, sublime. The representation of the notes, the feelings flowing through the instruments, is simply captivating and immerses you totally in the experience.

En cuanto a la música, ¡qué escenario sonoro! Es imposible mencionar "Your Lie in April" sin resaltar la relevancia de la música clásica en el argumento. En lo personal, no soy una especialista en el asunto, pero la serie consiguió que valorara cada pieza, que experimentara la emoción que se esconde en cada nota. Las interpretaciones son tan impactantes que te arrancan el aliento, y la manera en que se emplean para representar las emociones de los personajes es sobresaliente. Es una lección de que la música no es solo ruido, sino un lenguaje universal que puede expresar lo más profundo del alma humana.

As for the music, what a soundstage! It is impossible to mention "Your Lie in April" without highlighting the relevance of classical music in the plot. Personally, I am not a specialist in the matter, but the series managed to make me value each piece, to experience the emotion hidden in each note. The performances are so powerful that they take your breath away, and the way they are used to represent the emotions of the characters is outstanding. It is a lesson that music is not just noise, but a universal language that can express the deepest part of the human soul.

Claro, no podemos pasar por alto el elefante en el cuarto: el desenlace. El final... Sí, fue totalmente devastador, pero simultáneamente, totalmente imprescindible y hermosamente llevado a cabo. Me dejó con un nudo en la garganta y los ojos llenos de lágrimas, y todavía hoy, al rememorarlo, siento una punzada. Algunos podrían verlo como una "parte negativa" debido a la tristeza que conlleva, pero para mí, es lo que otorga a la serie su efecto perdurable. No solo se refiere a la melancolía, sino también al mensaje de que nuestro legado e influencia en la vida de los demás perduran mucho más allá de nuestra vida física.

Of course, we can't overlook the elephant in the room: the denouement. The ending... Yes, it was utterly devastating, but simultaneously, utterly essential and beautifully pulled off. It left me with a lump in my throat and my eyes filled with tears, and even today, as I reminisce about it, I feel a twinge. Some might see it as a "negative part" because of the sadness involved, but for me, it's what gives the series its lasting effect. It's not only about the melancholy, but also the message that our legacy and influence on the lives of others lives on far beyond our physical lives.

En conclusión, "Your Lie in April" es un trabajo magistral que te arranca el corazón para después sanarlo de manera inesperada. No es perfecta, al igual que ninguna obra artística, pero sus fallos son tan mínimos que apenas se aprecian ante la magnitud de su belleza y su mensaje. Es una serie que te lleva a meditar acerca de la vida, la muerte, el amor, la amistad y la relevancia de seguir tus pasiones a pesar de las dificultades. In conclusion, "Your Lie in April" is a masterful work that rips your heart out and then heals it in an unexpected way. It is not perfect, as no work of art is, but its flaws are so minimal that they are barely noticeable in the face of the magnitude of its beauty and message. It is a series that leads you to meditate on life, death, love, friendship and the relevance of following your passions despite the difficulties. If you haven't watched it, I fervently suggest it, but yes, have tissues at the ready, as you will require them.

A few months ago, while watching the last episodes of the second season of Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken), I took a look at the homepage of Anime FLV, an online site where I usually watch anime. There, a title caught my attention, and I decided to give it a try, which I do not regret.

Fire Force (En'en no Shōbōtai)

Fire Force tells the story of a 17-year-old boy, Shira, from the moment he joins Japan's 8th fire brigade. This anime presents us with a world in which, in addition to normal fires, there are others caused by infernos, which are nothing more than human beings who have spontaneously combusted.

Infernos have no reason, are uncontrollable, can throw fireballs, some can reach great power and speed, each has a unique appearance, but in general they are black figures enveloped in fire.

Shira is a third-generation victim of human combustion, meaning he is capable of generating flames in specific parts of his body, in his case his feet. When he was a child, his house was set on fire by an infernal, and he was the only survivor. Since then, he has had a nervous laugh that comes out when he feels pressured, and because of this, he was accused of murdering his mother and brother.

The world in which Shira lives is what emerged after an event called the Great Cataclysm. From there, a religion arose in which the sun is worshipped, and before killing any infernal, they say a prayer so that the being may find rest.

But what is interesting about this anime? First, it is the construction of a world. As I mentioned, everything takes place on a planet rebuilt after the great cataclysm, and as the anime progresses, we see places that are remnants of the previous world, not to mention the unique religion they profess, spontaneous combustion, the existence of the Pillars, and the Adolla Burst, about which there is still much to discover.

Since there are people capable of manipulating fire or generating fire in some part of their body at will, there are sometimes battles with infernos and at other times with other characters, which is great because we see how these characters grow and become stronger throughout the series.

The variety of characters in Fire Force is interesting; we see characters of all kinds, from the brilliant to the foolish, but each one has their place and importance at certain moments, each with a story and all with importance within the anime. In addition, there is no shortage of humorous moments that can even appear in the middle of a battle, when you were expecting some action, something happens that makes you burst out laughing. Among my favorite characters are Shira, Benimaru, Sho, Leonard Burns, Joker, and Obi.

The music is another of its strengths, both its openings and endings are of high quality and feature eye-catching animations that you want to see.

The animation in Fire Force is dynamic and fluid, emphasizing certain characters or details (figures within eyes) and playing with colors, which is vital because we are talking about a concept in which fire is central and therefore stands out.

This anime has two complete seasons available, and a few weeks ago, the first part of its third season finished airing. The second part will begin airing in January 2026. I give it an 8 out of 10. Hace unos meses mientras veía los últimos capítulos de la segunda témpora de Solo leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken) le di una vista a la página de inicio de Anime FLV, sitio online en el que suelo ver los animes, allí llamo mi atención un titulo y decidí a darle una oportunidad de lo cual no me arrepiento.

Fire Force (En'en no Shōbōtai)

Fire Force nos narra la historia de un joven de 17 años, Shira desde el momento en el que este se integra al 8.º cuerpo de bomberos de Japón, este anime nos presentan un mundo en que además de los incendios normales, hay otros, los cuales son causados por infernales que no son más que seres humanos que entraron en combustión espontánea.

Los infernales no tienen raciocinio, son descontrolados, pueden lanzar bolas de fuego, algunos pueden alcanzar potencia y velocidad, cada uno tiene un aspecto único, pero en líneas generales son una figura negra envuelta en fuego.

Ahora bien, Shira es una víctima de combustión humana de tercera generación, es decir es capaz de generar llamas en partes precisas de su cuerpo, en su caso los pies, cuando era un niño su casa fue incendiada por un infernal, él fue el único sobreviviente, de allí quedo con una risa nerviosa que aflora cuando se siente presionado y por ello se le acusó de ser el asesino de su madre y hermano.

El mundo en el que vive Shira es lo que resurgió luego de un suceso llamado el gran cataclismo. Desde allí se originó una religión en la que se adora al sol y antes de acabar con cualquier infernal, rezan una oración con el propósito de que este ser consiga descanso.

Pero ¿qué tiene de interesante este anime?, lo primero es la construcción de un mundo, como ya mencioné, todo ocurre en un planeta reconstruido luego del gran cataclismo y a medida que avanza el anime vemos lugares son restos de lo que era el mundo anterior, sin olvidar la religión que profesan que es algo único, la combustión espontánea, la existencia de los Pilares y el Adolla Burst de los cuales todavía queda mucho por descubrir.

Al existir personas capaces de manipular el fuego o de generar fuego en alguna parte de su cuerpo a voluntad, hay batallas a veces con infernales y en algunos momentos con otros personajes, lo que es genial, pues vemos como estos personajes van creciendo y fortaleciéndose a lo largo de la serie.

La variedad de personajes en Fire Force es interesante vemos personajes de todo tipo desde los brillantes hasta los tontos, pero cada uno tiene su lugar e importancia dentro de determinados momentos, cada uno con una historia y todos con importancia dentro del anime, además de que no faltan los momentos de humor que incluso pueden aparecer en medio de una batalla, cuando esperabas algo de acción, ocurre algo que te hace soltar una carcajada, entre mis personajes favoritos están Shira, Benimaru, Sho, Leonard Burns, Joker y Obi

La música es otro de sus fuertes, tanto sus openings como sus endings son de calidad y con la característica de tener animaciones llamativas que deseas ver.

La animación de Fire Force es dinámica, fluida, dándole énfasis a ciertos personajes o detalles (figuras dentro de ojos) y jugando con los colores, lo cual es vital porque hablamos de un concepto en el que el fuego es central y por ello lo destacan.

Este anime tiene disponible dos temporadas completas y hace unas semanas terminó de transmitir la primera parte de su tercera temporada. La segunda parte de la misma se comenzará a transmitir en enero del 2026. Yo le doy un 8 de 10. Si has visto este anime dime qué opinas y de no haberlo visto, te animo a darle una oportunidad.

El día de ayer me estuve viendo una película que me pareció interesante en la previa, aunque mis expectativas no eran tan altas al principio, pues estaba en búsqueda de un filme para pasar un rato, como una historia agradable. The Friend es una película del año 2024, dirigido por los cineastas Scott McGehee y David Siegel, quienes también estuvieron a cargo del guion. Esta historia está basada en la novela escrita por Sigrid Nunez.

La historia de este filme nos habla de Iris, quien es una escritora y profesora, quien pierde a su amigo y mentor por una muerte repentina que le cambia las vidas a muchas personas. La escritora se queda con su danés, un perro quien llega a su vida en un momento que no estaba, le da un vuelco a su vida. Iris no le gustan los perros, se queda con él simplemente por la memoria de su amigo. La historia de esta película es buena, pues nos habla sobre el duelo, la amistad y la sanación emocional a través de vínculos inesperados. Nos da un gran mensaje de como el acompañamiento silencioso, puede ser de gran ayuda en estos momentos.

The main character is a woman who wants to appear strong, but the reality was different, because the story goes beyond a simple friendship. A theme that can be touched upon in the film is the loss of a family member or friend, it is about moving on with our lives, but in the end it affects us more than we think. Iris really believes that the company of a dog is not necessary, but the reality is different, as she finally realises that with the help of animals we can heal, even the Dane was affected by the loss of his human, so they both help each other to move forward. The grief of losing a person is not always overcome, but we can cope with the help of pets.

I am one of those who previously didn't like dogs very much, I did have them, but after going through various situations, I got used to them, I even believe that their love is unconditional, they can help us in times of depression, something that many people go through and perhaps no one realises, which can lead to situations that we see in the film. The story seems good to me, a drama that at the beginning seems a bit slow and that I didn't understand very well, but as the minutes go by, the plot picks up pace and becomes a moving story with an ending that I loved.

As for the cast, I think the choice was quite good despite not knowing any of the cast, at least not that I remember. Un tema que se puede tocar en la película es la perdida de un familiar o amigo, se trata de continuar con nuestras vidas, pero al final nos afecta más de lo que uno cree. Soy de los que anteriormente no me gustaban muchos los perros, sí que los tenía, pero luego de pasar diversas situaciones, me acostumbre a ellos, incluso creo que su amor es incondicional, nos pueden ayudar en momentos de depresión, algo por la cual pasan muchas personas y tal vez nadie se da cuenta, lo que puede llevar a situaciones que vemos en la película. La historia me parece buena, un drama que al principio me parece algo lento y que no entendía muy bien, pero a pesar de que pasan los minutos, la trama agarra ritmo y se convierte en una historia conmovedora con un final que encantó.

En cuanto al cast respecto, considero que la elección fue bastante buena a pesar de no conocer a ninguno del elenco, al menos no que recuerde. Iris fue interpretado por Naomi Watts, quien investigando un poco es una actriz británica que ha participado en varias producciones de este tipo, aunque tal vez no han transcendido tanto, pues han sido producciones independientes. La verdad es que la actuación de Naomi me pareció increíble, un trabajo impecable con el cual logré destacar bastante. Bill Murray como Walter, el amigo de Iris y dueño de danés.

It's literally been just five days since I wrote about the brilliance of Lin Manuel Miranda, even when back then I haven't listened or watched his best work. Funny enough, I'm one of the 3% of people who knew about this brilliant composer without watching or listening to the Hamilton musical, well after writing the post on Tuesday, I realized that I shouldn't stay without watching it. So after making time yesterday, I sat down, had my headphones on and started the show.

Hamilton:The Musical

This is the one verse that I feel really embodies the musical. Personally I didn't know about Hamilton. Like I've heard the name, and it was affiliated to this musical, I didn't know what the musical was about nor about the person it was based on. I feel it's sad, considering how he was a cornerstone of America, it really wouldn't have happened without him, yet he's typically unknown when compared to Jefferson, Washington, Madison and even Burr. For this musical enlightenment we have to thank the idea that struck Lin Manuel, the crew and directors.

The musical is fun to listen to normally, but watching the musical by itself is a whole different experience, simply because of the magic that was created on the stage.

This one is one that'll leave your head bobbing. Lafayette was a joy to see on stage, his rapping, humor, singing and French accent really stole my heart.

Washington with his wisdom and songs were portrayed beautifully by this guy. A leader who didn't want the role, but was pushed into it, earned it, re-formed it and then left it for another to occupy.

Then Aaron Burr... If other actors and actresses were good, Aaron was magical. He wasn't just singing, he was putting on a show, using his whole body to pass on the ideas, thoughts and feels of the character. It was phenomenal to watch, I felt his frustration, hunger, drive and regret in every note. Hamilton was the main character but Aaron really stole the show for me.

Yet if we're to look at the main man Hamilton. We're just looking at a man with a want for something more, a man never satisfied and wanting to build something that'll outlast him. I can't say, but when dying from Burr's bullet, I wonder if he knows he was enough?

If he knows his country still stands and Eliza made sure his legacy remains. It wouldn't reach him, but I hope he knows that even though he lived, he died, we share his story.

With loads of other dope songs and so many more wonderful cast, I don't see why you shouldn't listen and watch this. Lin Manuel went hard, the music went harder😭 My first time watching and rating an actual play but I give this a stunning 10 out of 10✨
