KPop Demon Hunters my opinion | [ENG/ESP]

Hello everyone, although I like Japanese music and my favorite band is one of these, I have not been very into odols or kpop, but something that I do like a lot are animated movies and, as I have been resuming watching movies more often, recently I had been seeing videos on my TikTok referring to a specific one that, after much thought, a few days ago I decided to watch and for that reason today I come to give you my opinion on this occasion about the movie: K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Hola a todos, aunque me gustan las músicas japonesas y mi banda favorita es una de estas, no he estado muy metida en el tema de idols o kpop, pero algo que sí me gusta mucho son las películas animadas y, como he estado retomando el ver películas más seguido, recientemente me había estado saliendo en mi TikTok videos referentes a una en específico que, luego de mucho pensar, hace unos días me decido a ver y por lo mismo hoy vengo a darles mi opinión en esta oportunidad sobre la película: K-Pop Demon Hunters.

To begin with, this film was released on June 20th by Netflix and it mixes mystery, fantasy and above all music, this being one of the things that usually catch my attention on many occasions, and the thing is that with this film I didn't have many expectations since I felt that it might be a vile copy of the film Red, which in my opinion is one of my favorites, and although it doesn't have any themes other than the one that resonates the most in its time, I loved it, so I was waiting for this one to surprise me.

Para empezar, esta película salió el pasado 20 de junio de la mano de Netflix y mezcla misterio, fantasía y sobre todo música, siendo esta una de las cosas que suelen llamarme la atención en muchas ocasiones, y es que con esta película no tenía tantas expectativas ya que sentía que capaz sería una vil copia de la película Red, que en mi opinión es de mis favoritas, y aunque no tiene temas más que el que más resuena en sus tiempos, me encantó, por lo que estaba esperando que esta me sorprendiera.

This film centers on Huntrix, a group of three idols: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who use their voices as priestesses to protect the city from demons by creating a barrier. At first, it seemed a bit far-fetched, but as we get deeper into the nearly two-hour film, we realize the plot isn't really going in that direction. If we're good viewers, we'll see it's more about self-acceptance and liberation from the norm, something that captivated me.

Esta película se centra en Huntrix, formado por tres idols: Rumi, Mira y Zoey, las cuales usan sus voces a modo de sacerdotisas para proteger la ciudad de los demonios a través de una barrera. En un comienzo se me hizo algo volado, pero a medida que nos adentramos en las casi dos horas de película, nos fijamos que la trama no va en realidad hacia ese rumbo, pues si somos buenos espectadores podremos ver que va más bien de la autoaceptación y la liberación del estándar, algo que me logró atrapar.

Regarding the animation, I must say I was curious to see how the idols' expressions were often very cartoonish, manga-style, I might say. Likewise, this style was clearly defined in each character, and of course, the idol aesthetic was faithfully adopted in each group, creating for many that appreciation for the cuteness of each idol, whether male or female. Since we can see the Saja Boys, a group of male idols who give a nod to other well-known bands, the details in their hair, eyes, and even nails, although barely noticeable, are well done.

Con respecto a la animación, debo decir que me fue curioso ver cómo las expresiones de las idols en muchos momentos eran muy caricaturescas, estilo manga podría decir. Así mismo, este estilo en cada personaje estaba bien marcado y, claro, la estética idol fielmente adoptada en cada grupo, haciendo para muchos ese gusto hacia lo lindo de cada idol, ya sea chico o chica. Puesto que podemos ver a los Saja Boys, siendo estos un grupo de idols masculinos que dan un guiño a otras bandas conocidas, así mismo los detalles en cabello, ojos e incluso uñas, aunque poco perceptibles, están bien hechos.

The plot itself, though it has several clichés, isn't boring at all; the time flew by while I watched it. I would have even liked to see a few more common clichés in this one, but no. Likewise, when it comes to which character I liked, I could say a bit of each one, because they offer depth, even if it's not obvious in them. But the main one is Rumi and her internal struggle, which could be a representation of when we hide who we are and how that affects everyone around us, including ourselves.

En sí, la trama, aunque llega a tener varios clichés, no aburre en absoluto; a mí se me pasó el tiempo volando mientras la veía. Incluso me hubiera gustado ver uno que otro cliché más común en esta, pero no. Así mismo, al decir qué personaje me gustó, podría decir que un poco de todos, porque profundizan, aunque no sea evidente en ellos, pero la principal es Rumi con su lucha interna, que puede ser una representación de cuando ocultamos quiénes somos y cómo eso afecta a todo nuestro entorno, incluidos nosotros mismos.

Now, regarding the songs, I simply liked them. There are very simple songs, yet catchy because of the melody, like some that are just a listen; we know what they mean. And although there's a lot of music, this is precisely what the film is based on, not so much how they sing or whether it's K-pop music, but how through the voice, change or expression can be achieved, something they even imply and mention in the film that something well said or that connects makes a difference. And well, personally, I have more than one song stuck; in fact, as I mentioned in my previous review, I'm listening to one of the songs, in this case "Golden," as I write this review.

Ahora bien, con respecto a las canciones, simplemente me gustaron. Hay desde temas muy simples, pero pegadizos por la melodía, como unos que son solo de escuchar; sabemos qué quieren decir. Y aunque hay mucha música, justamente de esto se basa la película, no tanto de cómo cantan o si es música K-pop, sino de cómo a través de la voz se puede ejercer un cambio o una expresión, cosa que incluso dan a entender y mencionan en la película que algo bien dicho o que conecte hace la diferencia. Y bueno, en lo personal tengo más de una canción pegada; incluso, como mencioné en mi reseña anterior, estoy escuchando uno de los temas, en este caso "Golden", mientras escribo esta reseña.

It's a highly recommended film, whether you're a fan of the musical genre or the aesthetic, comedy, or, on the contrary, want to watch and analyze the characters or the lyrics. Personally, I like the lyrics of Asian songs, as they convey beautiful messages, even if the melody is different, but they make it fit, which I simply enjoy. In this case, understanding the film in depth means paying attention to the songs and the plot so that everything fits together correctly and the real context of the film reaches us.

Es una película que es muy recomendada, tanto si eres fan del género musical o la estética, la comedia o si, por el contrario, quieres ver y analizar a los personajes o a las letras. En lo personal, me gustan las letras de las canciones asiáticas, ya que transmiten bonitos mensajes, incluso si la melodía es distinta al mismo, pero hacen que encaje, cosa que simplemente disfruto, y en esta ocasión entender a profundidad la película es prestarle atención a las canciones y a la trama para que todo embone correctamente y el real contexto de esta nos llegue.

In itself it has everything: music, romance, comedy, fantasy and an inner message, so yes I would watch it again without a problem and with respect to whether it exceeded my expectations, well yes, it is a slightly more adult version of Red and this one touches on more themes, so yes, not so much to say that it is better by far, but it has my complete approval.

En sí tiene todo: música, romance, comedia, fantasía y un mensaje interno, por lo que sí la volvería a ver sin problema y con respecto a si superó mis expectativas, pues sí, es una versión un poco más adulta de Red y esta toca más temas, así que sí, no tanto para decir que por mucho sea mejor, pero tiene mi completo aprobado.

High Potential - Are there people who are that smart?

Hey Hivers and Movie fans,

It is nice to have a new TV show to talk about today. Recently, I have adopted the act of watching new TV shows as a means of putting my mind to rest after a long day or to start my weekend.

One genre of TV shows I have enjoyed over and over in the past is murder mystery. Mindfully, not the deep dark murder mystery or documentaries like the Jeffrey Dahmer, or American Murder Mystery documentaries and the rest of that kind, rather I'm talking about the kind of murder mystery that comes with a feel of comedy or comic relief.

I think that murder mysteries can be all serious, but at the same time, there should be a form of comedy relief, as that is what will keep a person like me glued to the show or movie. Life is quite serious already, so let's cope with some comedy.

In this mindset, I have watched the Mentalist, which happens to be my favourite on the list of murder mysteries. The back-and-forth tussle between Patrick Jane and Red John. Although some may argue that the Mentalist is not a murder mystery that comes with comic relief. But in that defense, it does.
Have you ever taken your time to watch how Patrick Jane plays with every given case, undermining the seriousness that comes with murder while making it obvious that nothing can be hidden from him. Or is it how he likes to act like a psychic that can read your mind and even speak to the dead, which are all lies since they are all clever psychological tricks he has mastered and implemented over and over again.

With this, it was a no-brainer when I decided to watch High Potential. Although I have to confess I was not so enthusiastic about the movie at first because I felt the glamorous use of an attractive Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata as the lead characters kind of undersold the murder mystery to me.
I thought these good-looking actors should just make this show another too-hot-to-handle or desperate housewives saga. Well, what did they say about judging a book by its cover? You end up losing the knowledge or missing out on something good.

So this was my case until I said to myself yesterday, what do I have to lose? Frankly nothing. Since all I am looking for is something to keep my mind busy and possibly sleep off as well on it, if it helps.
Lo and behold, it keeps getting good. Kaitlin Olson, who plays Morgan, a cleaner at the LAPD with a high IQ, keeps finding new information in an ongoing investigation that proves the police have it all wrong most times.

Her detailed attention to every single piece of information and spotting the missing piece is what I find quite intriguing. She is that kind of person who can spot a grammatical error in an expression where a period was used instead of a question mark, while at the same time reading the content at top speed.

The micro bits of information are how she gets to solve the murder case for each episode, even something as minor as the weather condition of last night, or what direction the wind was blowing from last night.
This is what got me thinking. Are there people like Morgan from the ABC TV show High Potential, who have an insanely high IQ and the ability to consume a large amount of information at top speed while understanding every bit of it? I think these kinds of things can only be found in movies, although I stand to be proven wrong or, better still, corrected.

I am currently on episode 5, where she is finally working full time for the LAPD consultant for murder investigation, and at the same time, trying to uncover what happened or led to the disappearance of her ex-husband. So far, it gets better as Morgan has become the female version of Patrick Jane from The Mentalist. If you enjoyed The Mentalist, I recommend you check High Potential.

The end of an era has come to an end, or at least that's what one imagines. The Squid Games has been Netflix's most successful series, surpassing even Stranger Things in terms of audience. It must be said that when the series started it was a real boom, being something that had not been seen on television it caught many people off guard and hooked them immediately, it was a novel product and above all well done. The second season did not reach the quality of the first one but it was still quite good, it kept people's attention and expectations. But now comes the third and final season, which is not bad either, but I think it falls quite short compared to the previous two.

El final de una era ha llegado a su final, o por lo menos eso es lo que uno se imagina. Los Squid Games ha sido la serie más exitosa de Netflix superando incluso a Stranger Things en lo que a audiencia se refiere. Hay que decir que cuando comenzó la serie fue un boom auténtico, al ser algo que no se había visto en televisión agarró desprevenido a muchas personas y las enganchó inmediatamente, era un producto novedoso y sobretodo bien hecho. La segunda temporada no le llegó en calidad a la primera pero de igual manera fue bastante buena, mantuvo la atención y la expectativa en la gente. Pero ahora llega la tercera y final, la cual tampoco es mala, pero si creo que se queda bastante corta con respecto a las dos anteriores.

Let's talk about several characters. The first one is Hwang, the detective brother who for two seasons was looking for the island. I understand the background of his character and the feelings he had at the end of the season when he sees his brother but in the story I consider that he ends up being “useless”, it is true that he achieves his mission and manages to save the famous father of the sick girl but he was expected to do more than stay paralyzed. I want to believe that in the end the humanity that we all have inside won overcoming the barbarism that was seen in the three seasons. In the end the series is a bit about that, being more human and less pieces of a macabre game.

Hablemos de varios personajes. El primero es Hwang, el hermano detective que por dos temporadas estuvo buscando la isla. Entiendo el trasfondo de su personaje y los sentimientos que tuvo al final de la temporada cuando ve a su hermano pero en la historia considero que termina quedando con un "inútil", es verdad que consigue su cometido y logra salvar al famoso padre de la niña enferma pero se esperaba que hiciera algo más que quedarse paralizado. Quiero creer que al final la humanidad que tenemos todos a lo interno ganó sobreponiéndose a la barbarie que se vio en las tres temporadas. Al final la serie va un poco de eso, ser más humanos y menos piezas de un juego macabro.

I assume these people have a very big budget, I ask myself: why not do something of higher quality? - I understand that due to the nature of the story and its violence, having a real baby was not the best option, but I think they could have made it a little less artificial. And no, this is not something small or unimportant because looking so fake takes away the emotional factor of the scenes. Personally I didn't like that, I didn't enjoy it and I wasn't even able to empathize with his relationship with his mother. For me it was a mere prop to try to give more drama to the story.

Esta gente asumo que maneja un presupuesto sumamente abultado, pregunto: ¿por qué no hacer algo de más calidad? - y esta pregunta me la hago al ver el CGI tan lamentable que le pusieron al famoso bebé 222. Entiendo que por la naturaleza de la historia y su violencia tener un bebé real no era la mejor opción pero yo creo que pudieron haberlo hecho un poco menos artificial. Y no, esto no es algo pequeño o sin importancia porque al verse tan falso le quita el factor emocional a las escenas. Personalmente no me gustó eso, no lo disfruté y ni siquiera pude ser capaz de empatizar con la relación de él su madre. Para mi fue mera utilería para tratar de darle más drama a la historia.

And the third thing to mention that was really hard to watch were the “VIPs”, these masked characters with an important decision-making power in these games. If you listen to it in the original language you will realize how forced their dialogues and interactions are to the point that they sound like they were taken from a cartoon or comic book or they are just bad actors and that's it. If they are the villains, the minimum is that they act as such, that they mimic their characters and make it moderately believable; unfortunately this was not the case. Another experience ruined by things that could have been done much better. Some really well acted “VIPs” would have been incredible.

Y lo tercero a mencionar que la verdad costó verlo fueron los "VIP", estos personajes enmascarados con un poder de decisión importante en estos juegos. Si lo escuchan en idioma original se van a dar cuenta de lo forzado que son sus diálogos e interacciones al punto de que parecen que fueron sacados de una caricatura o comiquita o es que simplemente son malos actores y ya está. Si ellos vienen siendo los villanos pues lo mínimo es que actúen como tal, que se mimeticen con sus personajes y lo hagan medianamente creíble; lamentablemente no fue el caso. Otra experiencia arruinada por cosas que pudieron haberse hecho mucho mejor. Unos "VIP" realmente bien interpretados hubiesen sido increíbles.

But not everything is bad. It is understood that no one could be left alive except for a single participant, so that the only thing that had to be done was to find a way for the protagonists to die. Here the deaths of almost everyone were very good, the drama that existed behind all these scenes was ideal to give them the closure they needed and deserved. There was everything, sacrifices, betrayals, grudges, pettiness, selfishness but we also saw love, understanding, etc. In the end this is a series that fully explores human nature and how we act in situations where one's life depends on another or on decisions we may make for our own benefit or unknowingly for the benefit of others.

Pero no todo es malo. Se entiende que nadie podía quedar vivo salvo un solo participante por lo que la vuelta que había que hacer era buscar la forma del cómo iban a morir los protagonistas. Acá las muertes de casi todos estuvieron muy buenas, el drama que existió detrás de todas estas escenas fue el ideal para darles el cierre que necesitaban y merecían. Hubo de todo, sacrificios, traiciones, rencores, mezquindad, egoísmo pero también vimos amor, compresión, etc. Al final esta es una serie que explora en su totalidad la naturaleza humana y el cómo actuamos en situaciones en donde la vida de cada uno depende de otro o de decisiones que podamos tomar para beneficio propio o sin saberlo de los demás.

In the end we had a closing that gives food for thought about many things of which we know very few. It wasn't a bad ending, some people didn't like it but it's all a matter of taste. It was known that the creator had another ending in mind and it's a good thing he didn't because otherwise the story would have gone into an eternal loop. The ending was for Seong Gi-hun to stay alive and go to the United States with his daughter to realize that these games were an international movement and thus the suffering and revenge would be something perpetual. I give this series finale a 6.5/10. Tell me, have you seen it yet? - What did you think?

Al final tuvimos un cierre que da para pensar muchas cosas de las cuales sabemos muy pocas. No fue un mal cierre, hay gente que no les gustó pero todo es cuestión de gustos. Se supo que el creador tenía otro final en mente y la verdad menos mal que no lo hizo porque sino la historia hubiese entrado en un bucle eterno. El final era que Seong Gi-hun quedara vivo y se fuera a los Estados Unidos con su hija para darse cuenta que estos juegos eran un movimiento internacional y así el sufrimiento y la venganza sería algo perpetua. A este final de serie le doy un 6.5/10. Dime, ¿ya lo viste? - ¿qué te pareció?

MY MOVIE REVIEW: THE FORGE
There are movies that actually create lasting impact in your mind after watching them. They don't easily leave and I must confess that one of them is The forge. Watching the movie after hearing the hype and trust me, checking it out, I discovered it was actually worth watching. The movie was a spiritual alarm clock for me to open my eyes to see the need why everyone needs to be mentored, discipled and be aware of their generational responsibility.

The movie center around the story of a young man who have this great potential to be someone great in life but lack that guidance and direction of life to get there. I must confess that is the situation a lot of us are always into in our society. A lot of us are just like Aspen Kennedy. We have so much potential but we lack that proper mentorship to actually get there. And then we also have another picture in the movie in person of Cameron Arnett who played the role of the mentor.

Even though they didn't meet themselves at the begining of the movie, later on, Thier path cross which for me was not by accident but by divine leading. And after the meeting, there was an evident transformation, mentorship and character development in the life of the younger man. That particular taught me that sometimes, why our life is still stagnant is because we actually lack the necessary development and spiritual mentorship needed. For me, the title fit in perfectly to what the movie stand for.

Let me talk about the key themes in that movie that actually resonate with me greatly. The first in the aspect of Discipleship and Mentorship. In Nigeria my country, we see mentorship as something that is cultural and even spiritual important. We have the likes of elders, parents or even pastors who played a major role in shaping the world of we the younger ones. When watching the movie, I realised why the lives of youth in Nigeria is nothing to write home about, it is because they lack the necessary mentorship and Discipleship in their lives.

Watching the movie, there was this strong statement that was made which really touched me. The statement was "Whoever wants the next generation the most will get them". For me, it is beyond the statement, I see it as a strong warning to the next generations that are coming for them to pay attention to what they listen to. It opened my eyes to see that what this present generation becomes will determine what the next generation will become. Watching that movie, I realised that if this generation gets it right, the next generation will get it right and vice versa also.

Another strong theme that the movie talk about which really touched me was the aspect of redemption and purpose. That makes use of Aspen Kennedy who was later redeem and redirected to a life of purpose juts because he met someone. It talks about Godly inheritance and legacy generally and opened my eyes to see the importance in it. For me personally, the way that young boy was able to rise from his shame, Failure and generally sin opened my eyes to see that there is no life that can not be redeemed if they have the right association.

Talking about the acting and the performance by the actors, for me I will say they really did a great job. Cameron Arnett did a great job acting as the spiritual wise mentor and also Aspen Kennedy acting as the mentee did a great job. Their performance was beyond juts acting movie, they acted the life in the movie which helped to create that emotional connection between the viewers and the movie itself.

For me, after watching the movie, I discovered that the movie is beyond just the movie, it have strong spiritual impact. It is a movie everyone should watch ranging from pastors, parents, children, youth and many more. Even after watching the movie, I begin to pray seriously that God should send the right person to my life who will guide me right just as Aspen Kennedy was able to be guided right. It also opened my eyes to see that there is no life that is beyond redemption. For me, I personally believe the movie is not just a movie, it is really an eye opener for everyone of us to see why we need mentorship in this our present world.

Rating: 9/10

A lot of things for me stand out in the movie titled the forge and it is a movie that I can watch over and over again without not getting tired. I will give it 9/10 if I am definitely to rate it.

Film Review: Tulip Fever (2017)

"Whenever cryptocurrencies’ price crashes or experiences a downward trend, this represents an opportunity for mainstream sceptical “nocoiner” economists to once again declare the phenomenon a “bubble.” For those who still don’t understand the term “bubble,” mainstream media will provide a detailed explanation—describing it as some banal and bizarre commodity that, due to stock market speculation and mass frenzy, gains an astronomical price and experiences steady value growth beyond any sound basis, before the laws of economic gravity step in to orchestrate an even steeper, more spectacular crash, leaving the masses who invested in it hoping to get rich without hard work, bereft. One of the oldest and most famous phenomena of this type is the so-called tulip mania in the Netherlands during the first half of the 17th century, which served as the basis for the 2017 film Tulip Fever.

The film is based on Deborah Moggach’s novel, adapted into a screenplay by the renowned Tom Stoppard. The plot unfolds during the period when the Dutch Republic, after achieving independence in a prolonged war against Spain, enjoyed the status of Europe’s most enlightened and liberal state—one enriched by trade and emerging capitalism into an unprecedented degree of wealth—a wealth reflected, among other things, in the rare and exotic tulips becoming a new status symbol. Wealthy merchant Cornelis Sandvoort (Christoph Waltz), however, faces other problems. While he has accumulated extraordinary wealth, the death of his spouse and child means he has no one to leave it to. To this end, he brings a young and beautiful Sophia (Alicia Vikander) from an orphanage and makes her his new wife. Despite the extraordinary efforts Cornelis invests in her, she cannot bear him an heir. Compounding this, she becomes deeply infatuated with Jan van Loos (Dane DeHaan), a poor but talented young painter whom Cornelis has hired to paint a family portrait. Meanwhile, Sophia’s maid, Maria (Holliday Grainger), faces far graver issues, as her lover Willem (Jack O’Connell) has vanished, leaving her pregnant. Jan, convinced that painting alone won’t make ends meet, attempts rapid enrichment through tulip trading. In the meantime, the two women in the Sandvoorts’ household devise a devious plan to assist one another.

While the title suggests a historical epic to recount the fascinating events of a relatively distant past—one that is, ironically, quite relevant to the modern world—Tulip Fever barely engages with economics, reducing the entire tulip narrative to a farcical game of naïve losers gambling in taverns posing as stock exchanges. The screenplay focuses far more on melodrama, particularly the love triangle between the Sandvoorts and the young artist, which, especially in the latter half, descends into a farcical tone that’s somewhat endearing but ultimately unoriginal and unremarkable. The entire tulip saga—of rapid wealth, speculation, and market collapse—is merely a pretext for a routine costumed melodrama akin to The Other Boleyn Girl, which Justin Chadwick directed in 2008. A better example of what the film was supposed to be about is the infamous Shakespeare in Love, a similar mix of melodrama and farce that Harvey Weinstein peddled nearly two decades ago as an Oscar-bait contrivance, where the story of Shakespeare was more propelled by stellar performances than a banal script.

In this regard, however, Tulip Fever falls far short of Weinstein’s standards. Ever-reliable Christoph Waltz appears to have a good time, transforming a character who would conventionally be a villain into a sympathetic gentleman. Alicia Vikander also tries, but due to the script’s banality, she often overacts, and viewers—at least those inclined to notice such things—will likely remember her more for a few nude scenes than for her performance. But the greatest disappointment is Dane DeHaan, who increasingly resembles a young Leonardo DiCaprio and seems to be reenacting his most famous role from Titanic. This wouldn’t be so problematic if the film had either spectacular special effects or, more crucially, some “chemistry” akin to that between DiCaprio and Winslet in Titanic. Here, however, there is none of that, leaving only a routine trudge toward a predictable happy ending, where even the greatest market crash in history is reduced to a handful of deflated characters in a tavern, and the narrative claims that the government—like in similar events four centuries later—had to rein in overzealous capitalists. Those watching today’s headlines about the cryptocurrency “bubbles” collapsing might say that little was learnt from this historical episode. Those watching this film would say its creators learnt even less."

Game of thrones is a Masterpiece
Hello everyone welcome to my blog once again. In response to the 139th contest of this community I'll be talking about the most bingeable television show and personally that title falls to Game of thrones, My favorite series.

I remember watching the first season when I was just 14 after a lot of negative reviews which centered around nudity from a schoolmate. I intended on buying a totally different film but when I got home, there was definitely a mix up with the DVD cassette as I found something else from what I bought. Initially I was pissed off but decided to give it a try and thank God I did as that decision was a complete life changer. The show starts up pretty slow and one might conclude that it is just the average series with a medieval setting but as you continue to progress with its story, you will come to appreciate it for what it truly is - A masterpiece.

The world of game of thrones revolves around seven great kingdoms, nine regions surrounded by a huge wall of ice with the capital being king's landing with the wildlings living beyond the wall. The show starts with the king Robert Baratheon coming all the way to the Winterfell, the capital of the Northern kingdom to seek the aid of his best friend Eddard Stark who also happens to be the warden of the North.

King Robert wants his friend to become his right hand man, helping him run the kingdom and also merge their houses through marriage (Robert's son and Ned's daughter). Ned leaves his family behind taking with him his two daughters as he heads to the capital to protect his friend from the threats looming within the palace. He encounters a lot of problems during his reign as hand of the king searching for secrets which finally leads to the truth of the king's children being fathered by the queens twin brother and not the king himself. He eventually confronts the queen about his discovery but before he could do anything, the king dies from a boar hunt, the prince is made the new ruler and he is beheaded for trying to Usurp the throne.

Angered by this, the entire continent is ravaged by war splitting into different factions each either having an agenda to control power or exact revenge. The Northerners led by Ned's first son Robb Stark rallies his army and marches to King's landing to avenge his father and retrieve both his sisters. The Tyrells rally behind king Robert's younger brother to take back power from the false heir, Ned's bastard Jon Snow is a man of the night's watch protecting the kingdom from threat beyond the wall and is not allowed to participate in the fighting.

The entire kingdom is a mess as rebels keep springing up at every turn to enrich themselves as the kingdoms bleed. Outside the watchful eyes of the westeros lies Daenerys Targaryen the last living heir from the original rulers of the entire continent with 3 dragons, an army of dothraki warriors and unsullied slaves to help her reclaim the throne. And finally beyond it all is the army of the dead under the control of the night King as they try to kill every living being and transform them into creatures of the dead.

What makes this show truly great is it's completely unpredictable nature. The show is not afraid to kill off characters the audience bond with and love as we have seen it happen countless times within the series. It is also blessed with an impressive story, world building, characters people can rally behind and an impressive plot that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats hungry to devour every episode after the previous one is done. I cannot count how many times I have rewatched this series but still find it very interesting as the show has that flare to draw you in with its richness.

Every character has an important role to play that at some point it becomes extremely difficult to identify the main character. From the cunning nature of the dwarf Tyrion Lannister, the morality and honour of Jon Snow, the cruel heart of Joffery Baratheon, the ambition of little finger, the power hungry Cercei Lannister and the resilience of Aryastark, Game of thrones is a reservoir of perfection.

One of the primary theme of this show is the struggle for power. Literally every character with a big role to play desires to either sit on the iron throne or just straight up possess a massive chunk at both political power and military strength. This lust for control becomes the control cursor controlling the affairs of the film causing wars, unlikely alliances, betrayal and death. Very few characters seek power for the right reasons and Jon Snow the exception wants nothing to do with it even though he is actually the real heir to everything. His noble nature will eventually lead to his tragic downfall, an outcome I still find very difficult to forgive even till this very day as Jon is my favorite character in the entire show.

Regardless of it's contradictory ending, game of thrones is still arguably the greatest television show ever with an impressive rewatchable history. It has everything one can seek for in television and a masterpiece like this only comes ones in a generation. Enjoy this cinematic beauty, it is truly a rare breed.

Hello movie lovers! How have you been? What you've been watching lately? 🎥

Introduction

As some of you might know, on Friday 27th the "final season" of Squid Game has been released, which to be honest I've been looking forward to.

I started watching Squid Game in 2021 not too much after the first season has been released just because it was in trending and all I could hear about whether I was speaking with friends or family members, was speaking about this series.

I would like to make the mention from the beginning that I am not a fan of gore/bloody/horror movies/series/games in general, nor of series in general as I don't have the patience to watch them in episodes, often ending up wanting to see the full season in one day, or of content that has the actors speaking a different language than English. It's not like I have a problem with actors from other countries as Romania has plenty of actors too, but for some reason my ADHD brain finds it very hard to focus watching a movie/series hearing a different language than English.

However, even with all these impediments that would make me reconsider my thoughts of watching Squid Game or not, the thing that everyone was speaking about this series, made me press the play button and watch the first season.

I won't share too many thoughts about this one as I am sure everyone is already used with what the series is about, even those who didn't watch more than one episode of it, but hearing that there will be a 2nd and 3rd season both released in less than half a year in between, did stir my curiosity wondering what new elements could be brought into the show without making it feel like one of those series that get dragged out with too many seasons.

Description and Opinions

Either way, a thing that remained the same in all three seasons, were the games, the leader of the games, as well as.. the protagonist, Lee Jung-jae playing Seong Gi-hun who was the last player alive and also the winner of the games in the first season, but which for some reason decided to get into the 2nd game as well, which was split in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the series.

At first, I didn't like this, although I think that having a different main player would affect the overall interest into watching the series, but it felt a bit repetitive. However, after watching a couple of episodes, it made sense to see him in the spotlight again, which also made sense to have a 3rd season based on how much information was suddenly presented.

While the 1st season of Squid Game focused on games basically, each of the 9 episodes coming with a new game more or less, the 2nd and 3rd season didn't involve too many games, but showed a lot of the world from behind, with a lot of action going on even outside the arena which used to gather the whole attention.

However, a thing that came as a surprise was seeing Leonardo DiCaprio be featured in the official trailer of the Squid Game Season 3 which was presented also as "The Final Season", making me want to keep watching this series. I'd lie by saying that when you see such a big actor being featured you would step back from keep watching the series because it obviously catches lots of attention making even more people watch the series, even these that didn't watch the previous seasons.

What I did not like, though, is that, the image of Leonardo DiCaprio was basically just used, because this is not part of the season 3, nor have the "final season" of Squid Game as it was promoted. You heard that right - Squid Game did it again. After releasing a full season with amateurs and fans playing the game but being promoted as a new season of the game, the movie did it again, using Leonardo DiCaprio as the start of the "Final Season/Season 3" which is most likely to be featured in the next season, which will be played in USA.

A thing that you might already be used to, is that, despite having 456 players in game, each determined to take part in the game from various financial reasons, there will always be a couple of them with a unique personality, making them easy to be remembered and consider as possible winners. The thing stays the same for the Season 2 as well, but with a more modern look and easy to remember figures.

A thing that I presumed wrong is that the games might be the same as these played in the first season which would make it quickly a turn off and lost of time watching, but happily that's not the case because the games are taken to the next level as well, bringing a lot of twists and mixed emotions along the episodes that involve these.

Emotions are also the main word I'd use for the Season 3 especially, because having the action mixed between the games and what happens outside the arena, made the series a lot better in my opinion. However, I'd lie saying that Season 3 was the best, because moments of disappointment or these leaving me with lots of question marks were not missing, some of the answers not being received even now, after finishing watching Squid Game.

One of them would be with the importance given on Jun-hee/Player 222's newborn which made me get a bit more emotional than expected, but then seeing Geum-ja's kill her son, Yong-sik, to save the baby, or even Seong Gi-hun/player 456 commit a suicide making the baby become the game's winner, seemed way too much for me. I could understand and see coming lots of twists from the official mother and father of the kid which were both players, but then seeing other players take this case so seriously, make me quickly become distracted from the series because as much as I tried to find an answer to why this truly happened, I could not find any.

Conclusions

Speaking about a series, it makes sense to remind about the previous seasons, which brings in the first conclusion. If you never watched Squid Game, then the first season is surely worth it. It's a one of a kind series with nothing seen before that quickly made it become so popular back in 2021 when it's been released and I can fully agree with the success is enjoyed. However, if you want to keep watching the series then you have to watch both Season 2 and Season 3 because they are linked to each other and if you stop after the 2nd Season then you lose the whole fun and basically stop at the middle of the story. But what I believe is that they both could create a single season of 9 episodes as the first one because many moments from the last two seasons could be taken out instead of having 6 episodes for each of the two.

The series is quite brutal and bloody which makes me think that it's not for everyone and the audience should think twice before watching the series. I am aware that there are a lot of gore/bloody movies and series, but as an adult that is close to 30s, I would lie by saying that I didn't get quite a few moments of discomfort while watching this, because there were plenty of moments when I looked in a different direction or covered my eyes.

Secondly, the 3rd Season comes with some easy to be predicted moments, which makes me think twice if it really was a good season or not because we all know that good movies/series, are these that no matter how many times you try, you should never anticipate what happens next. However, for me this came handy, already getting myself ready for the scenes that were about to pop up un the screen, especially these detailed and brutal ones.

I have a mix of emotions after watching the Netflix series, on one hand it filled me with a great feeling of nostalgia and on the other hand I feel incomplete 😄 is that I can't believe they stopped the project just in the third season Why? It's not fair, the series was going really well, but at least I'm left with the very pleasant feeling that Matthew will be with Anne forever.

Tengo una mezcla de emociones luego de haber visto la serie de Netflix, por un lado me llenó de un gran sentimiento de nostalgia y por otro me siento incompleta 😄 es que no puedo creer que hayan detenido el proyecto justo en la tercera temporada ¿Por queeeeeeeeeé? No es justo, la serie iba muy bien, pero al menos me quedo con la gratísima sensación de que Matthew estará con Anne por siempre.

Overview/Resumen

Anne is an orphan girl who arrived by mistake to the Cuthbert brothers' house, because they wanted to adopt a boy instead of a girl, someone who could help them with the farm, but in the orphanage they made a mistake and sent Ann. At the beginning Marilla (the older sister of the two Cuthbert brothers) decides to return the girl, but she regrets when she sees that she would be very unhappy, and as time goes by Anne wins the heart, not only of her new adoptive parents but of all Avonlea because she has a very peculiar personality, especially for the time in which she lives, she is an inveterate lover of literature and values very much the power of imagination.

Anne es una niña huérfana que llegó por error a casa de los hermanos Cuthbert, pues ellos deseaban adoptar a un chico en lugar de una chica, alguien que pudiera ayudarlos con la granja, pero en el orfanato se equivocaron y enviaron a Ann. Al inicio Marilla (la hermana mayor de los dos hermanos Cuthbert) decide regresar a la niña, pero se arrepiente al ver que ella sería muy infeliz, y con el paso del tiempo Anne se gana el corazón, no solo de sus nuevos padres adoptivos sino de todo Avonlea pues ella tiene una personalidad muy peculiar, sobre todo para la época en que vive, es una amante empedernida de la literatura y valora mucho el poder de la imaginación.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión

I think this is the first time that an audiovisual product exceeds my expectations with respect to the original literary version, and honestly this series is very well done, not only in terms of the script (despite all the changes I feel it still retains much of the original essence of the story) the new characters were very well written and developed to fit perfectly with the rest of the characters, the costumes were wonderful and the characterization was unbeatable, so much so that they made Amybeth McNulty (Anne) look 13 years old when she was actually 15, although in the original version she was only 11.

Creo que es la primera vez que un producto audiovisual supera mis expectativas con respecto a la versión original, la literaria, y es que honestamente está muy bien hecha esta serie, no solo en cuanto al guion (a pesar de todos los cambios siento que aún conserva muchísimo de la esencia original de la historia) los nuevos personajes estuvieron muy bien escritos y desarrollados para que encajaran perfectamente con el resto de personajes, el vestuario estuvo maravilloso y la caracterización insuperable, tanto que lograron que Amybeth McNulty (Anne) se viera de 13 años cuando en realidad tenía 15, aunque en la versión original solo tenía 11.

To meet the new standards, the series appeals to inclusion by incorporating some characters that were not in the book, but I must admit that they did it within the framework of logic and reality of the environment and the time in which they live, for example we have Sebastian Lacroix who everyone affectionately calls "Bash", he and his wife had to deal with the prejudices of their time, the series shows you in a realistic way the different opinions that existed regarding black people, it tells us about racial segregation and how it was hard for them to make their way in the world, on the other hand we are shown characters more open to new concepts such as Gilbert and Miss Stacy, but I want to talk about her later. At the same time we can see how the issue of homosexuality was perceived back then, although I honestly don't agree with this version of Josephine being transformed into a homosexual character just because she was single in the original version, but I liked how they used Cole Mackenzie's character (new character) to illustrate how difficult it was for these people to fit into society back then, in a world that was not always understanding, he struggles to try to accept himself as he is and both he and Anne are very supportive of each other.

Para cumplir con los nuevos estándares, la serie apela a la inclusión al incorporar algunos personajes que no estaban en el libro, pero debo reconocer que lo hicieron dentro del marco de la lógica y la realidad del entorno y la época en que viven, por ejemplo tenemos a Sebastian Lacroix a quienes todos por cariño llaman "Bash", él y su esposa debieron lidiar con los prejuicios propios de su época, la serie te muestra de manera realista las diferentes opiniones que existían respecto a las personas negras, nos habla de la segregación racial y como les costó a ellos abrirse camino en el mundo, por otra parte nos muestran personajes más abiertos a nuevos conceptos como Gilbert y la señorita Stacy, pero de ella quiero hablar más adelante. Al mismo tiempo podemos ver como se percibía en ese entonces el tema de la homosexualidad, aunque honestamente no estoy de acuerdo con que a esta versión de Josephine la hayan transformado en un personaje homosexual solo porque era soltera en la versión original, pero me gustó como usaron el personaje de Cole Mackenzie (nuevo personaje) para ilustrar lo difícil que era para estas personas encajar en la sociedad en ese entonces, en un mundo que no siempre era comprensivo, él lucha por tratar de aceptarse a sí mismo como es y tanto él como Anne se brindan mucho apoyo mutuo.

But Anne is a girl equipped for life, she knows how to solve situations that many adults find difficult, she thinks quickly and reacts according to logic because she has trained her mind to do so, reading has made her astute and avid, it has given her an extensive and rich vocabulary while nourishing her dreamy and free soul, while adversity has taught her lessons to act according to each situation.

Anne es un personaje fuera de lo común que parece no encajar con los estándares de la tradicional y conservadora Avonlea, es demasiado locuaz y soñadora, su cabeza está llena de ideas que al principio parecen inconexas, inventa personajes y hasta un alter-ego (la princesa Cordelia) pero esto no es más que un recurso que ella ha utilizado por años para tratar de evadir el dolor de la soledad y los malos tratos recibidos en el orfanato y las familias sustitutas. Por otra parte la imaginación de Anne me hizo recordar tanto mis años de infancia ya que a pesar de que yo tuve una infancia mucho más privilegiada que el personaje, yo era demasiado imaginativa, creaba situaciones y personajes que eran compañeros en una vida solitaria ya que era hija única en ese entonces. Pero Anne es una niña equipada para la vida, sabe resolver situaciones que a muchos adultos les cuesta, piensa rápido y reacciona de acuerdo a la lógica porque ha entrenado su mente para ello, la lectura la ha hecho astuta y ávida, le ha otorgado un extenso y rico vocabulario al tiempo que ha alimentado su alma soñadora y libre, mientras que las adversidades le han dado lecciones para actuar de acuerdo con cada situación.

Miss Stacy is my favorite character for being an irreverent character, defender of the rights of students and women in a time when women really lacked value in society, she was not a rebel without a cause, on the contrary, she had very clear ideas and convictions, Miss Stacy represents the arrival of a new era, of the new century, she is the door to the knowledge of new trends, technology, fashion, progress and changes, but as I say, this character is not placed at random, nor do they make us understand that it has been easy for her, on the contrary, it shows us the difficulties that women with free thought faced in a time with mostly sexist ideas and closed thinking. Stacy takes her job very seriously, she is not a behaviorist like the previous teacher was, instead she appeals to listen to her students and prepare them for real life, her classes are dynamic, fun and above all useful, she defends her ideas with actions, not just words, in fact I remember with special admiration the episode where all the students of Avonlea, led by Anne (as it could not be otherwise) showed the community how much they had learned from their teacher and how much they valued that teaching, especially how useful the electricity experiment was.

I love the character development in this series, but I especially like how siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert learn to see life after Anne's arrival. Matthew, once so reserved and shy, learns to defend his ideas and goes from being a loner to Anne's accomplice. Marilla, for her part, begins to open and expand her mind more and more. At first, she appears secretive and reticent, but lets her heart fill with emotions and, although it's still difficult for her, sometimes lets those emotions out, recognizing that Anne was the most beautiful mistake that came to Green Gables, a right mistake that has made her very happy and that she definitely wouldn't know how to live without her.

Anime Review~ Toradora! – When Opposites Fall in Love
Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Today I bring you a beautiful romantic comedy anime full of emotional twists and unforgettable characters. I will tell you the story of two unlikely friends who discover love in the most unexpected ways.

Story Summary

This anime revolves around two high school students Ryuji Takasuke and Taiga Aisaka. Takasuke is a gentle boy with a scary face and Aisaka a small, violent girl who has a quick temper. Although they seem to be complete opposites they both have one thing in common they secretly like each other as best friends.

This is after an embarrassing first encounter where Ryuji and Taiga realize that they are in love with the same person and they come into an agreement of assisting each other to get near to the object of their affection. This surprise partnership soon turns into a loony palship. A slowly budding strong bond forms as they help each other through school, embarrassing moments, heart to heart talks and so on.

The relationship between Ryuji and Taiga is emerging in a minor emotional form as the story advances. Their relationship evolves as they were teasing and fighting and now they are caring and really understanding. The anime explore these issues of family hardships learning to love oneself, emotional maturity and teenage love.

Toradora! is a fine tuned mix of comedy drama and romance. Being endowed with a lovely support system and the school mood filled with true sentiments the anime finds its climactic love scenario being nothing as much as a memorable touching ending that makes clear that love does not always come to you where you are anticipating it but it matures with you.

My review

Toradora! is my favorite romantic comedies, and there is a reason behind it. It is not a simple love story but a coming of age story full of laughs mis-communication and heart. Both Ryuji and Taiga are imperfect yet endearing characters and seeing their relations go gradually through the stage of dependence to caring is pleasing to the very tangible degree.

The fact that I love most is the natural character development. This show does not fly through love stories. Rather it tells of pain, support and personal development over the years. Graphic is sharp the music is touching and every episode makes you wish there was more.

You have to watch Toradora! whether you are a fan of school romance or just like the pleasure of a good story. It is both touching and humorous not to mention unforgettable which indeed is the sort of anime that makes you feel all arched up inside deep into the very next morning after the final episode.

🌙 The Sandman

I can't even tell the amount of times I've seen “The Sandman” on my Netflix Movie list and avoided it each time.

Perhaps it was because I had been lately disappointed with overly flashy trailers and paper-thin characters and paper-thin plots of too many fantasy series. There was something that dragged me back though. Perhaps it is just the mutters I heard among followers of Neil Gaiman graphic novels. Or maybe it was the cold lifeless pictures of Morpheus--tall, pale, brooding, with stars in his eyes, and silence in his tread. Or then again, I simply needed to get out of myself into a more poetic reality than real life.

Neil Gaiman comics are known to be strange, surreal and perhaps even intellectual. Then, however, it turned into a cultural moment: the trailer with its mutters of Dream and Death, the casting, the visuals, it all fell into place.

Then I read somebody describe it as “one of the best, boldest, most creative shows Netflix has ever produced.” That, coupled with the hum of anticipation that “animated scenes are ripped off classic panels” , led me to think I might be seeing something memorable.

And so one quiet night I hit play.

And in a few minutes I was off. Not only to watch, but to dream with open eyes.

However, I did not get what I expected.

This is not all fantasy. It’s philosophy. Myth. Grief. Power. A polished human, with all the skin gone and replaced with velvet and ash.

The Sandman is more than a show. It is an experience that creeps into your head, sits in your chest and alters the way you look at stories, grief, and sleep itself.

In the first episode, Dream - also referred to as Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming - is captured by mortal occultists during a botched ritual. He loses his tools, is imprisoned more than a century, and during his absence the world starts falling apart. Human beings enter into eternal slumber. Dreams turn into nightmares. In dark crevices of the mind chaos blossoms.

However, Morpheus is not just any other hero. He is not noisy. He does not make speeches or punch walls. He is mysterious, dangerous, melancholic. Dream, perfectly played by Tom Sturridge, whispers, and the voice sounds like thunder covered with silk. When he makes an appearance, the air moves.

It was not his strength that impressed me, but his isolation. His mute pain. He is a god who has lost his way to connect. And to see him re-learn that, via friendships, via betrayal, via grief, was hauntingly beautiful.

The Sandman unfolds in the human world as well as the Dreaming, a world that is as influenced by imagination, memory, fear, and desire. However, the atmosphere makes this series special. It does not only present your fantasy. It causes you to feel it.

The images are lyric: the dreamscapes, the libraries of old, the worlds of eternal darkness. It is lyrical writing. It seems each line is purposeful. You do not merely watch The Sandman but you drink it up like some weird delicately crafted poem.

Every episode has the feeling of a short story out of a collection of dreams; some of them are terribly emotional, some are horrifying, and all of them are memorable.

As well as Dream, The Sandman is full of complex characters. My favorite? Death.

Yes, Death.

Quietly radiant played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Death is not the grim reaper we were socialized to fear. She’s kind. Grounded. Humans. There is an episode, only one day with her company, when she walks with souls at the time of their death. And it broke me. In the kindest, most needed manner possible.

Next is Johanna Constantine, a cynical demon-exorcist who lives with a heavy burden of her past. And Rose Walker, a vortex of dreams, who does not even realize that she is breaking down the dimensions between worlds. and the Corinthian--as he is the nightmare with a grin full of teeth, so is he nearly seductive, in his hideousness.

Every character adds a human and raw element to the show. They are not mere fragments of a fantasy story. They are reflections, of trauma, of hope, of identity, of regret.

The Sandman isn’t about good vs. evil. It’s about balance. Change. Purpose. It asks questions you don’t expect from a fantasy series:

What happens when dreams die?

What do we owe the people we create?

Can gods change?

Are we more ourselves in dreams than in waking life?

One is the one that barely even involves Dream at all- it is about a man who is given immortality. Dream visits him in a pub once every century. It is one episode which caused me to weep. Not due to spectacle, but due to the sincere, barbaric gaze of time, loneliness, and the purpose of belonging.

The feeling of watching The Sandman was like walking across the silent nooks and crannies of my mind. It forced me to look at aspects of myself that I neglect in day-to-day life, the child who still follows dreams, the grown-up who loses things and grieves, the poet who prefers to shelter behind work.

It told me that dreams count. That they are sacred. That the dreams that we dream at night are as true as the realities of the day.

I began to write a journal again after completing the series. Not only goals or plans, dreams. Nightmares. Symbols. I recalled how I used to believe so in the power of the unseen. And I desired that again.

The television show did not only amuse me. It transformed me.

Naturally, not everyone can like The Sandman. It is draggy here and there. It does not give all the explanations. It meanders. It is more of a reflection than a solution. Yet perhaps that is the point. Dreams do not follow the straight and narrow. They are not supposed to be easy. They are supposed to be experienced, struggled over, recalled… or not.

However, when you give in--and I mean really give in--The Sandman will take you somewhere that you did not realize you had to go.

If you’re tired of formulaic fantasy… If you crave stories with soul… If you want to feel something ancient, strange, and uncomfortably beautiful…

Then dream with The Sandman.

It’s more than a show. It’s an elegy for the stories we lose when we stop believing. It’s a love letter to those of us who feel too much, dream too hard, or ache too often.

And if you’re like me, by the time the credits roll, you’ll be changed. Just a little. But deeply.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one dream to wake you up.
