If you know a thing about first love stories, it's either it doesn't work out in the end or it's a till death do us part" affair. The same goes for this movie, one with the storyline focused on a first love story, how it ends is one you should look forward to if you decide to see this movie.

Just after I had finished seeing "Strong Girl Nam-soon", and was intrigued by the supporting character Ru Shi-oh starred by Byeon Woo-seok, I went on a search for other series where he starred in and I came across this short movie.

For one who would always prefer series, I didn't give it a second thought to see this short movie at least for a break from too many series and it turned out to be another good watch for me.

The 20th Century Girl is a two hour Korean movie released in the year 2022 but it's scenes are set in a year before the 21st century (1999-2000). The movie is starred by popular characters like Kim Yoo-jung from the most recent series "My Demon" and Byeon Woo-seok from "Strong Girl Nam-soon" as I've pointed out before. These two are good casts and play their role really well so I didn't expect anything less in this movie even if it was just for two hours.

The storyline of this short movie goes like this...

In 1999 lived a school girl whose friend is out of the country for a heart surgery. Before leaving, her friend asks her to find out whatever about a boy she fell in love with. Na Bora begins to follow the boy around who happened to always be around his best friend, it turns out the two girl friends mistook the names of the boys and Bora was following the wrong boy around.

Na Bora falls in love with the Poong Woo, who she supposed was a friend of the guy her friend is in love with. Things took a great turn when her friend returned from her successful heart surgery and both have to choose between their first love or friendship love.

What really caused the mistake with the boys name that brought this upon two best friends? How did it end with their first love? You'll have to check out the movie to find out.

If there's one thing I felt so much while seeing this movie, it was the feeling of sadness towards the young lives falling in love and the older ones setting a bridge they can't fight off. This isn't so necessary as I think they just wanted to show how first love is but I wish the movie had ended a bit more different. Then again, the end was what made the movie make a whole lot of sense and I don't regret seeing it.

I actually saw the movie again before this review, so yeah, it's a movie one could see over and over and you'll still feel the emotions it brought to you on your first watch. The supporting characters didn't do much and I didn't think much about them as our main characters played their role too well.

The scenes where they cried, shared past memories and even where the male lead revealed his true feelings towards the female lead, all those scenes were so memorable and I like the mild comedy in it, too much comedy wouldn't have been cool for such a movie anyways.

I'll recommend this short movie to anyone who likes romantic movies but I must say, there are a lot of lessons shared in this movie than it being romantic. I especially like the setting of the scenes as they try to show how it was back in the beginning of the 21st century.

It's a 8/10 from me on this one and that's because I wished for a much better ending. Aside that, the movie is definitely going to be worth your time. What do you think about the storyline?

It's been a while since a production has caused this, this thing that this one has left. Last night I couldn't sleep well, but it's not just this, I have this post-film symptom. It's unbelievable, I really don't know how to define this sour taste in my throat.
Había pasado un tiempo en que una producción causaba esto, esto que esta ha dejado. Anoche no pude dormir bien, pero no es solamente esto, tengo ese síntoma post film. Es increíble, es que en propiedad no sé cómo definir este sabor tan agrio en mi garganta.

20th Century Girl, seems to have stolen my heart this 2022, even surpassing my perception with Business Proposal which in my eyes was the best romance K-drama this year. I've been detached from my tastes, but I know that something as unique as this hasn't come out, this is something that has really made my skin crawl in so many ways.
20th Century Girl, parece que se ha robado mi corazón este 2022, incluso superando mi percepción con Business Proposal que a mi modo de ver fue el mejor K-drama de romance de este año. It reminds me of the first time I saw Encounter, yes, 20th Century Girl has touched me emotionally and I really can't believe it yet. I'm writing this because I'm not over Film, and I think I'll have a hard time getting over it.

I saw this film on the recommendation of two people I admire in the ecosystem, I'll keep to myself who they are, but they are to blame for the fact that I didn't sleep well last night, and it's not exactly because it's a horror plot, not at all. The film ironically is a melodrama, but one that expresses human truth, and feelings in a way that exclaim and radiate pain.

Some of the artists I have seen in various productions, especially the main characters, for example: Kim Yoo-Jung who acted as Na Bo-ra, I know her from Love in the Moonlight (this is my favorite historical k-drama), by the way, she is totally beautiful. In the case of Byeon Woo-seok who acted as Poong Woon- ho, I saw him in productions like Record of Yout.

I can say that I saw warm, memorable performances and the heartfelt message was expressed in a way that tears you emotionally. When I saw the title of the movie, I thought there would be a time travel or something like that, but in reality that time travel was just remembering the exact moment where that strange flame arose in Na Bo-ra's heart. Really, it's a little hard for me to write about what even this film has left me, it's too emotional.
Puedo decir que he visto actuaciones cálidas, memorables y que el mensaje sincero se expresó de una manera que te desgarra emocionalmente. Cuando vi el título de la película, pensé que habría un viaje en el tiempo o algo así, pero en realidad ese viaje fue solamente recordar el momento exacto en donde esa llama extraña surgió en el corazón de Na Bo-ra. De verdad, me cuesta un poco escribir sobre lo que aun este film me ha dejado, es demasiado emotivo.

Beautiful, beautiful in every way. I don't know if it's a matter of taste, or perception of what each one of us wants with love, and life itself, maybe that was the part they wanted to leave marked in the script.

The film takes place in two times, 20th century and 21st century, but the reality is that everything that happens in the 20th century is a beautiful memory, a warm and real one that Na Bo-ra keeps.

Yeon Du (Roh Yoon Seo) is that friend that Na Bo-ra is willing to do anything for. That everything involves chasing after the person her friend loves, while that friend is in the U.S. for heart surgery. Who is the guy? Baek Hyun Jin (Park Jung Woo), well, this is something of a deterrent and will have to be determined. The truth is that there is something dramatic in all of this.

If the world doesn't end in the 21st century, I want to fall in love with Na Bo-ra at that time, sweet and attractively appealing by Poong Woon- ho. It's all so ironic, from the aspects and what the film contains.

In this film there are scenes worth admiring, one is demarcated with a letter that falls on the floor, how? Two that also drew me in to the level of not letting me sleep well are at the end of the film, one is where the 21st century Na Bo- ra walks that gallery in a beautiful art exhibit for her, only her and sees that ending.

The reason why I started watching melodramas is because of the intrinsic value of permeating human emotions, feeling that you are there inside the production and that you can be part of the story, that is the reason why I like this, and it makes it indisputably and irrefutably the best hours; because you see the art, you see the essence of what you long for in fantasies.
La razón por la que comencé a ver melodramas es por ese valor intrínseco al permear en las emociones humanas, sentir que estás ahí dentro de la producción y que tú puedes ser parte de la historia, ese es el fundamento por el que me gusta esto, y hace de una manera indiscutible, e irrefutable que sean las mejores horas; porque se ve el arte, se ve la esencia de lo que se anhela en fantasías.

This film makes it beautiful, its composition, the way in which the memories of some people are their greatest treasure and where love does not die, but endures in each of those moments that are there, in the deepest part.
Este film le hace hermoso, su composición, la forma en la que los recuerdos de unas personas son su mayor tesoro y en donde el amor no muere, sino que perdura en cada uno de esos momentos que están ahí, en la parte más profunda.

Never forget that an event in the past can define the events of the future, that is something that the screenwriter has left here, facts and twists that have an impact.
Nunca lo olvides un suceso del pasado puede definir los hechos del futuro, eso es algo que la guionista ha dejado aquí, hechos y giros que impactan.

All in all, it is a 10/10.
En definitiva, es un 10/10.

Hola querida comunidad de Movies & TV, estuve entre ver y no ver la película de la cual les vengo hablar porque me hice demasiados spoilers ya que está muy famosa en este momento y sabía que si era de romance y drama probablemente iba a terminar con sentimientos encontrados y con un vacío por un tiempo. Pero decidí verla después de ver pequeñas partes de la historia y me llamaba la atención por qué tuvo el final que nos mostraron.

La chica del siglo 20 en español o 20th Century Girl es una película coreana del 2022 de género romance y drama, transmitida en Netflix y muy vista este año, logrando un gran éxito tanto por su historia como por las grandes actuaciones de sus protagonistas.

Ambientada en el año 1999, nos cuenta la historia de Na Bo-ra (Kim Yoo-jung) una chica de diecisiete años con gran personalidad y con un buen corazón. Ella está en la secundaria y tiene a su mejor amiga de la infancia Yeon-du (Roh Yoon-seo) cuya amistad tiene muchos años y ambas son muy leales la una a la otra.

Debido a problemas de salud, Yeon-du tiene que realizarse una operación del corazón o su vida puede estar en peligro, para esto ella debe viajar a los Estados Unidos donde será operada. Pero antes de irse de Corea del Sur ella le confiesa a Na Bo-ra que está perdidamente enamorada de un chico de la secundaria y que se siente triste de tener que irse.

Na Bo-ra le hace una promesa a su mejor amiga, que mientras ella se recupera va averiguar todo acerca del chico que le gusta, llamado Baek Hyun-jin (Park Jung-woo).

Mientras Yeon-du está en Estados Unidos, Na Bo-ra decide perseguir al chico del cual está enamorada su mejor amiga y averiguar todo acerca de el e informarle cada detalle de su vida a Yeon-du vía correo electrónico.

En el desespero por saber más sobre Baek Hyun-jin, Na Bo-ra decide unirse al club de radiodifusión al igual que el pero el al final toma la decisión de no entrar al club. Es ahí cuando Na Bo-ra se da cuenta de que el mejor amigo de Baek Hyun-jin, Poong Woon-ho está en el club, entonces ella se acerca a él para sacarle información.

Baek Hyun-jin piensa que Na Bo-ra está interesada en el porque siempre está cerca y comienza a desarrollar sentimientos por ella, pero Na Bo-ra no se esperaba esto y le dice que ella no está interesada en el.

Mientras pasa más tiempo cerca de Baek Hyun-jin, nota la presencia de Poong Woon-ho (Byeon Woo-seok) y empieza a desarrollar sentimientos por el inesperadamente. Poong Woon-ho piensa que ella está interesada en su mejor amigo y trata de no estar cerca de ella pero cada vez es más difícil, la presencia de Na Bo-ra le remueve las emociones y sentimientos y se da cuenta que el está sintiendo algo por ella.

Después del regreso de Yeon-du y su exitosa operación, Na Bo-ra está feliz pero ocurre un grave error, una confusión. Yeon-du le confiesa que el chico del que está enamorada es Woon-ho y comienza la dura realidad a la que se tiene que enfrentar Na Bo-ra al tener que ocultarle a su mejor amiga que está enamorada del mismo chico que ella.

Luego de que ambos confesaran sus sentimientos por el otro, Woon-ho tiene que irse a Nueva Zelanda junto a su madre y su hermano, Na Bo-ra decide esperarlo y así pasan los años y no llega a tener ningún mensaje o llamada por parte de el. Se siente sumamente triste por siempre recordarlo.

Finalmente al pasar los años, en una exhibición al cuál fue invitada ve a Woon-ho e imágenes de ellos cuando eran adolescentes. Por último Woon-ho le dice en el vídeo que lo espere y que quiere ver a la Na Bo-ra del siglo 21. Esta escena es demasiado conmovedora. Luego de enterarse de lo que pasó con Woon-ho, finalmente ella puede dejar ese capítulo de su vida atrás y recordarlo sin rencor sino más bien con mucho cariño por lo que vivieron juntos.

La película tiene una duración de dos horas pero se pasa volando porque no hay escenas de relleno y todo esta tan perfectamente hecho en la película que es muy agradable de ver. Las actuaciones de los actores principales es simplemente espectacular, te hacen sentir exactamente como si fueras parte de la historia de amor adolescente en esa época de los 90s.

La escenografía y el ambiente quedó muy parecido a como se vería una historia de 1999, con tonos en las imágenes que lo hacen ver antigüo y muy personal y cálido en cuanto al romance. Al igual que la vestimenta y la moda de la época.

Esta historia es muy conmovedora, porque hay dos personas que se aman pero por circunstancias de la vida no terminan juntos. Las escenas son muy hermosas y tanto como el personaje de Woon-ho, que es un chico risueño y muy lindo cómo el personaje de Na Bo-ra, una chica que nunca pensó en el amor como algo demasiado importante, termina enamorándose de cada detalle y momento vivido con Woon-ho, el cual se encargó de que fuera muy especial para ambos y poderlo recordar en el futuro.

Si, el final es triste, no llore pero me dolió demasiado, sobre todo porque quedas como sin respuestas, esperando saber el por qué todo termino de esa manera. Pero nos deja esa historia de amor que será recordada por siempre.

La chica del siglo 20 en español or 20th Century Girl is a 2022 Korean film of romance and drama genre, streamed on Netflix and widely watched this year, achieving great success both for its story and for the great performances of its protagonists.

Set in the year 1999, it tells us the story of Na Bo-ra (Kim Yoo-jung) a seventeen-year-old girl with a big personality and a good heart. She is in high school and has her childhood best friend Yeon-du (Roh Yoon-seo) whose friendship is many years old and both are very loyal to each other.

Due to health problems, Yeon-du has to undergo a heart operation or her life may be in danger, for which she must travel to the United States where she will be operated on. But before leaving South Korea, she confesses to Na Bo-ra that she is madly in love with a high school boy and feels sad that she has to leave.

In desperation to know more about Baek Hyun-jin, Na Bo-ra decides to join the broadcasting club just like him but he ultimately makes the decision not to join the club. That's when Na Bo-ra realizes that Baek Hyun-jin's best friend, Poong Woon-ho is in the club, so she approaches him to get information out of him.

Baek Hyun-jin thinks that Na Bo-ra is interested in him because he is always around and begins to develop feelings for her, but Na Bo-ra didn't expect this and tells him that she is not interested in him.

As she spends more time around Baek Hyun-jin, she notices the presence of Poong Woon-ho (Byeon Woo-seok) and begins to develop feelings for him unexpectedly. Poong Woon-ho thinks that she is interested in his best friend and tries not to be around her but it becomes increasingly difficult, Na Bo-ra's presence stirs her emotions and feelings and she realizes that he is having feelings for her.

After Yeon-du's return and her successful operation, Na Bo-ra is happy but a serious mistake occurs, a confusion. Yeon-du confesses to her that the boy she is in love with is Woon-ho and the harsh reality Na Bo-ra has to face begins as she has to hide from her best friend that she is in love with the same boy as her.

After they both confess their feelings for each other, Woon-ho has to go to New Zealand with his mother and brother, Na Bo-ra decides to wait for him and so years go by and she never gets any message or call from him. She feels extremely sad to always remember him.

Finally as the years go by, at an exhibition to which she was invited she sees Woon-ho and images of them when they were teenagers. Finally Woon-ho tells her in the video to wait for him and that he wants to see the Na Bo-ra of the 21st century. This scene is too touching. After learning what happened with Woon-ho, she can finally put that chapter of her life behind her and remember him without rancor but rather with much fondness for what they experienced together.

The movie is two hours long but it flies by because there are no filler scenes and everything is so perfectly done in the movie that it is very enjoyable to watch. The performances of the main actors are simply spectacular, they make you feel exactly as if you were part of the teenage love story in the 90s.

The set design and ambiance is very similar to what a 1999 story would look like, with tones in the images that make it look antique and very personal and warm in terms of romance. As well as the clothing and fashion of the time.

This story is very touching, because there are two people who love each other but due to life circumstances do not end up together. The scenes are very beautiful and as much as Woon-ho's character, who is a laughing and cute guy as Na Bo-ra's character, a girl who never thought of love as something too important, ends up falling in love with every detail and moment lived with Woon-ho, who made sure it was very special for both of them to remember it in the future.

Yes, the ending is sad, I didn't cry but it hurt me too much, especially because you are left with no answers, waiting to know why everything ended that way. But it leaves us with a love story that will be remembered forever.

This is the first Korean movie I review, I wasn't sure whether to watch it because I've already seen a couple of Korean things and usually the style it follows is quite similar, but I still jumped on it.

No sé sabe más nada de este chico y Yeon Du, debe irse por su cirugia y ahí es cuando le dice a Bo Ra que ella está muy enamorada, y le explica cómo se siente, alega que no podría vivir sin él, y que está segura de que será el amor de su vida. Bo Ra como es su mejor amiga, es la clase de amiga que haría lo que sea por ver a su mejor amiga feliz, decide que la va a ayudar, se acercará al chico y le hará saber de todos los detalles por correo electrónico, para que así ella pueda irse tranquila a realizarse su cirugía.

Bo Ra empieza su misión en la preparatoria y logra localizar el nombre que su mejor amiga le dijo, ya que recuerden, ella Yeon Du logró verlo en su chaqueta de él. Bo Ra logra acercarse a él y también a su mejor amigo, ya que los dos chicos están juntos todo el tiempo, de alguna forma Bo Ra quería estar en el mismo club que ellos, pero terminó ingresando ella al club junto con el otro chico del cual no le interesaba saber nada, toda esta historia se desarrolla y ella empieza a tener sentimientos por este chico de alguna manera, de todas maneras se sentía seguro porque no tenía nada que ver con su mejor amiga, pero también hay un enredo porque él otro chico cree que ella está enamorada de él, y pareciera una especie de triángulo amoroso.

Al pasar todo un semestre su amiga regresa de su operación y todo salió muy bien, a partir de ahí la historia toma un giro porque su mejor amiga revela quién era el chico que realmente le gustaba, y sí, era el mismo chico, a partir de aquí su amiga empieza a reprimir sus sentimientos y ocultar todo, la historia a medida que avanza da un giro y tiene un final que no te esperas.

It's an emotional film, I found it quite innocent and pleasant, it also gives you a kind of time travel to old video cameras, video cassettes but going back to the subject, it's a story of a first love, and I like the way in which they present it because it is full of many emotions and sweetness, it was something totally different from the rest of the films I had seen, even the ending that I did not expect, for me it was a good film, and honestly it brought me very good memories and It made me miss those times.

Es una película emotiva, me pareció bastante inocente y agradable, también te da como una especie de viaje en el tiempo a las video cámaras antiguas, los video casetes pero volviendo al tema, es una historia de un primer amor, y me gusta la forma en que expresan porque está lleno de muchas emociones y de dulzura, fue algo totalmente diferente al resto de las películas que había visto, incluso el final que no me esperaba, para mi fue una buena película, y honestamente me trajo muy buenos recuerdos y me hice añorar aquellas tiempos.

La verdad quiero decir que cuentan con un gran elenco (por lo menos en su juventud) que interpretaron su papel de una forma muy bonita, Kim Yoo-jung(Na Bo-ra), Byeon Woo-seok (Poong Woon-ho),Ron Yoon-seo (Kim Yeon-du) y Park Jung-woo(Naek Hyun-jin). La historia va de una chica en la década de los 90 de Corea que se llama Na Bo-ra quien tiene que ser de acosadora digo de cupido para su amiga que tiene que irse por un tiempo de Corea del Sur y resulta que ello encuentra el amor”, la película es acta para mayores de 13 años (no acta para gente sensible) bueno mentira pero si son llorones tengan unos pañuelos.

Empezamos hablando de los personajes de las dos amiga, Na Bo-ra y Yoo-seo, saben algo que admiro mucho es cuando uno le agarra simpatía a un personaje en una película, ya que es un tiempo bastante breve para que el público simpatice realmente con alguien y eso me paso de verdad con Na Bo-ra no se si es porque esta medio pendeja o porque tiene un buen corazón, en la película se puede a llegar a simpatizar con ella en un punto que solo quieres que termine siendo feliz, es una muchacha que ama a su mejor amiga y es algo que de verdad se ve bonito en la película como incluso la amistad y el amor están en parte iguales, siento que ella merecía mas que ese final y por otro lado Yoo-seo es alguien que solo aparece a media película la cual yo juraba que me iba a caer mal, pero es una chica dulce que también sabe que la amistad es el número en sus corazones antes que nadie.

Por otro lado tenemos a los otros amigos Poong Woon-ho y Naek Hyun-jin, que puede decir de Woon-ho…creo que Salí enamora de él jajajaj la verdad es un chico bastante tímido y siento que se guardaba las cosas hasta cierto punto, a medida que pasa la película tú vas sintiendo que él es un chico que vale la pena de a mucho y que también merece un final feliz por otro lado Hyung-jin lo dire simple, es un patán de n buen corazón, me pareció bastante antipático a lo largo de la historia es como el contraste de los dos amigos, además de que el hace buenas acciones que le quitan un poco lo mal que me callo.

La película en si te entretiene al principio ya que Na Bo-ra es una protagonista bastante entretenida por lo menos en su juventud, algo que me llama la atención que se desarrolla en 1999 y ahí es donde va agarrando forma el título, la confusión que hubo en la historia fue algo que me sorprendió, siento que fue un factor sorpresa para mí ya que no sabía eso, la historia romántica siento que fue muy inocente, bonito y también jugaron con mi mente al principio sobre el interés romántico y todo eso, los dos chicos hacían linda pareja siento que en los actores había esa química que se proyecta en pantalla.
The movie itself entertains you at the beginning as Na Bo-ra is a pretty entertaining protagonist at least in her youth, something that catches my attention that it takes place in 1999 and that's where the title is taking shape, the confusion in the story was something that surprised me, I feel it was a surprise factor for me as I didn't know that, the romantic story I feel it was very innocent, cute and they also played with my mind at the beginning about the romantic interest and all that, the two guys made cute couple I feel that in the actors there was that chemistry that is projected on screen.

La película me gustó mucho y si no la hubiera analizado, diría que es la mejor que he visto pero si tiene sus fallas sobre todo al final, o sea le pidieron agregar media hora más. Además de que esa bien triste la resolución de la película siento que está muy apurada los últimos 20 minutos, me quedo una gran interrogante que cuando vean la película sabrán cual es además de que quería ver que paso con los demás personajes, por otro lado la actriz que interpreta a Na Bo-ra de grande siento que era como una roca y no supo trasmitir las emociones como lo hacía la actriz joven, porque para lo que se enteró me sorprendió su actitud fue como “a bueno” y yo como WTF, siento que ese es su fallo pero para cómo se desenvuelve Casi toda la película vale la pena verla sobre todo si te gusta chillar con películas/series Coreanas como yo jejeje le doy un 8-5/10 por lo antes mencionado si no hubiera sido un 10/10, si me interesaría leer que les pareció esta bonita pero triste película, que creo que con las ultimas frases entendemos muy bien el nombre  , chao.
