En esta época existen un gran número de proyectos tanto cinematográficos y de series de tv los cuales están basados en los 80', este tipo de producciones crea mucha nostalgia y para ser sincero es divertido ver la moda, la forma de hacer tv y las películas y más que nada la música lo cual creo que es de las muchas cosas que me gustan recordar, pero creo que hay una cosa en particular que es más fácil de recrear en estos tipos de proyectos dentro del mundo del entrenamiento y eso que es muy fácil relacionar a esta época con una de plena diversión, aventura y hasta inocencia, es claro que todavía los 80' es algo fácil de vender y por eso creo que sin importar el género de la historia, siempre veremos a estos tipos de films y series; ahora con respecto a los 90' creo que es difícil de vender, siento que todo era más deprimente, lleno de rabia que se debía expresar, sin ninguna duda una época más combativa, pero al final también fue una épica divertida, de descubrimiento y sin ninguna duda una época más ruda que la anterior.

In this era there are a number of projects both film and tv series which are based on the 80', these types of productions create a lot of nostalgia and to be honest it's fun to see the fashion, the way of making tv and movies and most of all the music which I think is of the many things I like to remember, but I think there is one thing in particular that is easier to recreate in these types of projects within the training world and that is that it is very easy to relate to this era with one of full fun, adventure and even innocence, it is clear that still the 80's is something easy to sell and that's why I think that no matter the genre of the story, we will always see these types of films and series; now with respect to the 90's I think it is difficult to sell, I feel that everything was more depressing, full of rage that had to be expressed, without any doubt a more combative time, but in the end it was also a fun epic, of discovery and without any doubt a rougher time than the previous one.
En "Mid90s" veremos la historia de Stevie, un chico de 12 años quien vive en Los Angeles junto a su madre y su abusivo hermano mayor; Stevie no tiene una vida familiar y por eso está en la búsqueda de algún lugar en donde encajar y ese lugar es en una tienda en dónde un grupo de skaters se reúnen y disfrutan de la vida, eso llama la atención de este chico que hará todo lo posible para ser parte de este grupo y sentir que por fin sienta lo que es ser parte de algo.
In "Mid90s" we will see the story of Stevie, a 12 year old boy who lives in Los Angeles with his mother and his abusive older brother; Stevie does not have a good family life and so he is looking for somewhere to belong and that place is in a store where a group of skaters gather and enjoy life, that draws the attention of this boy who will do everything possible to be part of this group and feel that finally feel what it is to be part of something.
Esta película significó el estreno en la dirección de un largometraje del actor Jonah Hill; para ser su primer trabajo en este tipo de producción, pienso que hizo un buen trabajo, más que nada en las varias escenas en dónde están este grupo de personajes están patinando y también cuando estos personajes están conversando tranquilos, para ser sincero creo que Hill tomo mucha influencia en estos vídeos de famosos Skeaters y videos musicales de los 90' para crear este tipo de escenas. Este en realidad es un pequeño film, es crudo y creo que Hill se enfocó en más en desarrollar la historia en vez de querer crear escenas espectaculares de este grupo de chicos patinando porque la verdadera importancia está en la historia en vez de tanto lo visual y no es que exista una mala dirección, lo cual no es este el caso, ya que el tipo de filmar este film fue perfecto porque siento que le da realidad a toda la historia.
El guion hecho por el mismo Hill, es lo que más me ha gustado; sé que al hacer películas basadas en una específica época pueda generar mucha nostalgia en las personas que verán estás producciones y en esta oportunidad no se escapa de crear eso, no tengo duda de que esto fue lo que me llamó la atención en un primer momento y debo de decir que la nostalgia no vino por la forma de vestir, ni por la música, la nostalgia vino por la historia de Stevie, ver a este joven personaje en la búsqueda de hacer un grupo de amigos que lo hagan sentir en familia, que tenga una sensación de libertad y a la vez de presión para ser reconocido y encajar en un grupo de personas que están lejos de lo normal o lo aceptable por la sociedad, esto sí que me gustó porque siempre me ha parecido genial este tipo de historias en dónde un personaje deba luchar para sentirse bien consigo mismo y así ser parte de algo; lo otro es que creo que es esta historia representa el hecho en que en los 90' ser alguien diferente, fuera de lo normal, ser un "Outcast" era lo que llamaba más la atención en vez de mostrar una imagen perfecta, esto lo demuestra muy bien está historia.
This film was the feature film directing debut of the actor Jonah Hill; for his first work in this type of production, I think he did a good job, mostly in the various scenes where this group of characters are skating and also when these characters are talking quietly, to be honest I think that Hill took a lot of influence in these videos of famous Skeaters and music videos of the 90's to create this type of scenes. This is actually a small film, it's raw and I think Hill focused more on developing the story instead of wanting to create spectacular scenes of this group of guys skateboarding because the real importance is in the story instead of the visuals and it's not that there is bad direction, which is not the case here, because the way this film was shot was perfect because I feel it gives reality to the whole story.
The script made by Hill himself, is what I liked the most; I know that when making movies based on a specific era can generate a lot of nostalgia in people who will see these productions and this time does not escape from creating that, I have no doubt that this was what caught my attention at first and I must say that nostalgia did not come by the way of dressing, nor by the music, nostalgia came by the story of Stevie, to see this young character in the search to make a group of friends that make him feel like a family, that has a sense of freedom and at the same time pressure to be recognized and fit into a group of people who are far from normal or acceptable by society, I really liked this because I have always found great this kind of stories where a character must fight to feel good about himself and thus be part of something; The other thing is that I think this story represents the fact that in the 90's being someone different, out of the normal, being an "Outcast" was what called more attention instead of showing a perfect image, this is shown very well in this story.
Las actuaciones no son especiales, los momentos mejores actuados son por parte de su protagonista, el joven Sunny Suljic quien para el 2018, año del estreno de este film tenía 12 años de edad la cual es la misma edad que tiene el personaje que interpreta; para mí es un buen trabajo de este actor, es natural, real, tiene un grado de inocencia que cada vez más se va rompiendo mientras su vida familiar le afecta más y eso lo hace buscar un escape en amistades que para la sociedad no sería la mejor, pero para el momento tan triste de este chico, es lo más parecido a una familia que también es muy disfuncional; sobre los demás personajes, los actores que claramente no tienen experiencia al frente de las cámaras, para mí cada uno cumple con lo que deben expresar en importantes momentos sus personajes y hacen una buena representación de los personajes creados por Hill.
The performances are not special, the best acted moments are by its protagonist, the young Sunny Suljic who by 2018, the year of the release of this film was 12 years old which is the same age as the character he plays; for me it is a good work of this actor, he is natural, real, he has a degree of innocence that more and more is breaking as his family life affects him more and more and that makes him look for an escape in friendships that for society would not be the best, but for the very sad moment of this boy, it is the closest thing to a family that is also very dysfunctional; about the other characters, the actors who clearly have no experience in front of the cameras, for me each one fulfills what they should express in important moments their characters and make a good representation of the characters created by Hill.
Mid90s me pareció genial y la considero como una de las películas más nostalgias que he visto porque yo tuve mi adolescencia en los 90' y siempre estoy agradecido con la vida o con el destino de que así sucedió, pero también debo decir que no tuve la vida de "Stevie", pero de igual forma quería encajar en un estilo de vida y pudo hacerlo, disfrute de la moda, de la música, de las fiestas un gran momento para comenzar a crecer y sé que muchos no pudieron disfrutar de esta gran época, pero sin ninguna duda los 90' fueron épicos; refiriéndome nuevamente del film, con respecto al uso de la nostalgia y de lo bien escrito de su guion, me gustó que Hill haya hecho un gran homenaje, ya que si prestamos atención veremos qué más que nunca esa frustración de no pertenecer a algún lado y de no encajar creando la presión y a la vez depresión que hará que se cree esa búsqueda o escape de poder expresar esa rabia y en realidad en esa época, la agresividad, la rabia, la frustración era algo que vendía mucho y era muy explotado y por eso se vivió momentos violentos en esa época en Estados Unidos y eso lo plasma Jonah Hill en este film y lo esconde en un Coming-of-Age de este chico y sus amigos Skeaters. Me tomó mucho tiempo ver esta película y me arrepiento de eso y lamento que no exista más películas basadas en esta época porque pienso que hay un potencial enorme y para generar buenas historias.
Mid90s I thought it was great and I consider it as one of the most nostalgic movies I have seen because I had my adolescence in the 90s and I am always grateful to life or fate that it happened, but I must also say that I did not have the life of "Stevie", but still wanted to fit into a lifestyle and could do it, enjoy the fashion, music, parties a great time to start growing up and I know that many could not enjoy this great time, but without any doubt the 90s were epic; referring again to the film, regarding the use of nostalgia and the well written script, I liked that Hill has made a great tribute, because if we pay attention we will see that more than ever that frustration of not belonging somewhere and not fitting in creating the pressure and at the same time depression that will create that search or escape to express that anger and in reality at that time, aggressiveness, rage, frustration was something that sold a lot and was very exploited and that's why there were violent moments at that time in the United States and that is captured by Jonah Hill in this film and hides it in a Coming-of-Age of this boy and his friends Skeaters. It took me a long time to see this film and I regret that and I regret that there are not more films based on this era because I think there is a huge potential to generate good stories.
