  1. Monster... A Hidden Gem [Eng / Esp]@omarcitorojas135d

    ....English Version....

Monster... A Hidden Gem. We return to anime plots with the genres I love; those genres that encompass mystery, suspense, and psychological horror. In that sense, a few days ago I saw a story or series that very few people have heard of, at least in my opinion. I say this because most anime lovers, again in my opinion, expect these stories to be full of battles, fantasy, and action-packed characters. I think this is why the anime series Monster, despite its fantastic cinematic image quality, has been underrated. It's true that there is no frenetic action or fast-paced battles, but the truth is that the plot of Monster is extremely appealing, full of mystery and suspense, and it really generates a lot of tension.

For me, Monster is a hidden gem because it's not a simple plot; on the contrary, you have to pay close attention and you'll notice that watching it will be a total challenge for your mind. It's a series that doesn't hide its events because we're going to appreciate intense realism, where the human condition will be called into question. It's certainly a work with an impressive and well-crafted script; here, we quickly realize that we are in the presence of a deadly game, where the characters give their all to deliver a vibrant story, not in the sense of action, but in the performances where each of them shows that they can be a terrifying enemy, or simply the being who must seek the truth and end the terror that threatens to take over everything. Let's enjoy this series together, which I particularly loved, and here I offer you my impressions.

This Monster series by our friend Naoki Urasawa is not just an evocation of mystery and psychological terror; watching it is like navigating the twisted mind of a criminal, going beyond what we are used to enjoying in anime. Let's remember that this story is set in post-war Europe. Here we will feel how forgiveness, human morality, and evil personality are presented in each of the characters. At first, we have the prominent and famous doctor Kenzo Tenma, who must make a decision between two patients: a child or a very powerful figure. For Kenzo, human life is what matters, no matter who it is. Everyone is equal, and despite all the obstacles, he decides to save the child's life without knowing the future consequences of his decision.

What is certain is that Johan Liebheart's character would be that child who lived because of Kenzo's decision. Now, this guy has become a despicable being, a murderer; in short, a monster. Inside the doctor's mind, there is only guilt, so he has decided to abandon his medical work to go in search of the criminal who decided to murder and not take advantage of his second chance for good; he must stop the monster he has created. This whole story becomes dense and, although as I said before, it has a slow pace, this allows for the creation of an atmosphere of mystery, suspense, and total paranoia that grows by the minute.

Without a doubt, there is a tremendous contrast between the characters; on the one hand, Johan is terrifying, manipulative, and for him, life is worthless; he is a deadly shadow. On the other hand, Dr. Kenzo is kind-hearted and fights hard for good to prevail; however, he must resort to unexpected methods to try to control the monster he has created. Now, will Kenzo have to become a murderer? Come and find out.

It's true that in anime I love battles, action, color, and constant fiction, but Monster goes beyond all that. It's a story that introduces detective work without being detective work, as we see a person who abandons everything to pursue a mission that could save many lives. On the other hand, we won't get any easy answers during the plot. There's a puzzle here that we have to put together, so we have to accompany Kenzo in his activities as an investigator. Another exciting touch we see in the plot is the conspiracies that took place at that time, secret experiments, among other things.

One very important tip is that you should pay close attention to each episode, because any element revealed in a scene could be vitally important as the story progresses. Simply put, this anime is worth digging out of the trunk, because we are going to enjoy a story that is far from the norm for anime. On the contrary, you will see a very realistic plot that offers many moments of mystery and clues that will leave you frozen in your seat. The ending is spectacular and calls for reflection on human actions. In short, you must watch it, enjoy it, and analyze it, because sometimes to defeat a monster, you have to do monstrous things. Cheers, and see you soon.

    ....Versión En Español....

Monster...

  2. (ENG/ESP) The Psychology of the Characters in “Monster” - Blog / La Psicología de los Personajes de "Monster" - Blog@reenave203d

    Español

    "Monster" poster as image reference

    "Monster" poster as image reference

Hello, Manga and Anime Lovers Community!

I am slowly recovering from the severe flu that hit me a few days ago, so I hope to get back to my regular posting schedule.

The topic I want to share with you today relates to one of the anime that I have loved the most in the Seinen/psychological thriller genre: "Monster."

This work, created by Naoki Urasawa, explores the nature of "evil."

Unlike other works where the plot centers on power and overcoming challenges, "Monster" delves into the human mind, revealing layer by layer the ethical dilemmas, traumas, and motivations through its characters, who are designed as pieces of a moral puzzle.

Each character represents a distinct facet of the psychology of conflict.

Before continuing, I must give a respective SPOILER ALERT for those who haven’t read the manga or watched the anime.

Now let’s examine the different characters and what they represent in this intricate plot.

Let's begin with Dr. Kenzo Tenma, the doctor who chooses life. Tenma is a highly talented neurosurgeon with a promising future who, at the beginning of the story, decides to save the life of a child—none other than Johan—rather than the mayor's life. Following this decision, a series of events begin to unfold, forcing Tenma to flee, becoming a fugitive and making him question his moral compass more than once. We can say that Tenma represents the internal struggle between professional ethics and social pressure. This conflict reaches its peak when he is forced to sacrifice his professional career and reputation to protect the life of an innocent. Dr. Tenma demonstrates a high sensitivity to the suffering of others, aligning this trait with the theory of altruistic empathy. We also notice that as the series progresses, the resilience he demonstrates ultimately becomes a form of self-efficacy: with each obstacle he faces, he reinforces his conviction that human nature has intrinsic value.

Now, let’s turn to the series' antagonist: Johan Liebert, who is the mirror of emptiness. Johan presents himself as a child prodigy who transforms into a ruthless manipulator. He has a cold charisma and his ability to manipulate others shows that he has a profound understanding of social psychology. Throughout the series, we don’t see Johan acting out of material greed or lust for power; his motivation seems to be creating an existential void and projecting it onto others. Johan exhibits severe personality disorder traits. His behavior reflects antisocial personality disorder and psychopathy, characterized by a lack of remorse and calculated manipulation. He uses depersonalization as a defense mechanism to disconnect from any emotional bond with the world around him, allowing him to commit atrocious acts without experiencing internal conflict.

We also have secondary characters who contribute to the plot from different perspectives related to justice and guilt: Inspector Lunge and Detective Nina Porter.

Lunge becomes a representation of police obsession. His obsessive and stubborn dedication to capturing Tenma projects his own professional failure onto the fugitive. Meanwhile, Nina Porter, whom we also know as Anna, symbolizes the search for redemption. The traumatic past she had with Johan pushes her to confront her own pain while seeking a way to repair the inflicted hurt. These two characters illustrate how trauma can become either motivation or self-destruction, depending on the support network around them and their capacity for self-reflection.

In "Monster," narrative techniques deepen the characters' psychology. The author, Urasawa, employs “flashbacks” and “multiple viewpoints” to reveal the hidden layers of characters. In each episode, perspectives alternate from Tenma’s, Johan’s, and Lunge’s points of view, creating a feeling of cognitive instability for the audience. This allows viewers to experience firsthand the confusion and doubts faced by the characters.

Additionally, the use of gray tones and dim lighting reinforces the atmosphere of uncertainty. The backgrounds in desaturated colors serve as a visual field that reflects the moral ambiguity through which the characters navigate throughout the plot.

As we delve deeper into the story, we can see many themes present: we can initially observe the theme of free will vs. determinism. This is evident when we see Tenma believe in the capacity to choose, while Johan, on the contrary, moves under a predestined logic of chaos. The theme of fragmented identity is also present, noticeable when characters adopt aliases and roles to reinforce or escape their traumas, such as Johan vs. Heinrich. Another theme in "Monster" is guilt and responsibility. This is present in the conflicts of Lunge and Nina: the former blames himself for not stopping Johan in time, while the latter blames herself for her own vulnerability. Finally, we have the theme of manipulation and persuasion, observable when Johan employs gaslighting techniques to destabilize his victims, showcasing his mastery of mass psychology.

"Monster" is a story that compels readers and viewers to question their notions of good and evil through its complex characters. There are no easy answers; rather, it reveals that morality exists in a gray area where intention, circumstances, and individual psychology are intertwined.

Undoubtedly, "Monster" is a work that, through this ambiguity, leaves us with profound analysis from both a literary and psychological perspective.

  3. Monster - "What is it to do the right thing"@memess335d

    Source : https://wallpapercave.com/monster-urasawa-wallpapers
Monster or the biggest master piece in the history of animes in my opinion.
The anime was published in 2004 based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa (on of the most talented man out there in my opinion). Is considered by some (including me) the best or one of the best psychological themed anime.

What is it even about ?
The story is about Kenzo Tenma, a neurosurgeon living and practicing in Germany. He is having an climbing career but one day a man die because he had to operate a less urgent but more important patient first and seeing the wife of the man destroyed by the event make him rethink the way he want to play the game of life. Later that day the mayor and a kid are both admitted to the hospital at the same time and even if asked to operate on the mayor Tenma want to save the kid.
After this, the mayor dies and Tenma is penalized by what he did, left on side by hierarchy and left by his wife.
On top of this already annoying situation, it come out that the kid he saved is a "Monster" that kill a lot of people without letting any unintentional traces. Tenma only goal now become to stop the Monster he "created".

I could reveal what happens during the 72 episodes but if you don't discover it yourself it doesn't have the same taste...

Let's know give a word about the themes, one of the big question around the anime is the moral ambiguity of "What is it to do the right thing". Kenzo did the right thing by saving a child. Kenzo did the wrong thing by curing the future antagonist. Did he know it that the child would kill people ? No, but if he listened to the hospital direction he wouldn't have saved a serial killer.
Another question treated during the anime at various moment and by the story of various character is the question of life, do we all deserve to live ? Do your actions impact your right to live ?

The final maxi-package is composed of 4 theme that are all mixed up, Good & Evil and Justice & Evil. During the story you will learn about the life of the young "Monster" which then "explain" why he became evil but at the same time another character with the same life turned out to become the complete opposite. Once the anime ends, there is no happy or sad ending it's more of a mixed one, in which you as a spectator have to tell if Kenzo have fixed his mistake (if you think he did any) or if he didn't.

In the end Monster isn't just any anime it's a one of a kind, no fan service, almost no action, slow rhythm. 72 episode and slow you will ask me how is it possible to watch all of this ? Intensity, when the character are happy you are, when they are stressed so are you, they are scared i guarantee you will start to be too.

There is one characther i would love to talk about, but he appear so late in the story that reviling anything about him would spoil you a lot about the story and i don't want this... but i can say that this opposit to "Monster" is an exemple on how we should all live. Being kind to everyone (could apply to Tenma too).

To end this, this anime probably impacted the way i behave quite a lot. Made me realize that i was nice not kind... which i tried and still try to change in my everyday way of behaving. Watch it 10/10.

Look, Monster had me hooked from episode one, but not because of action or visuals—it was that thick, almost suffocating atmosphere that makes you doubt everything. The story isn’t fast, nor should it be. Every silence, every shot lingering on a face or an empty street has a purpose. It’s the kind of anime that doesn’t scream at you; it whispers with weight.

That said, the pacing is a double-edged sword. Because yeah, it’s meticulous to the extreme, but there are moments when that slowness feels more sluggish than tense. Some episodes could easily be trimmed without losing depth, and that threw off my vibe a bit. Still, patience pays off.

And the characters... damn. Johan is brilliant, but I’m also drawn to side characters like Eva and Grimmer—they’ve got those twisted, painfully human layers. The show doesn’t idealize anyone, and that’s a luxury. No one here is purely good or evil, and it makes you squirm in the best way.

On top of that, the music and framing feel like something out of European cinema. There’s no fanservice, no exaggeration—just storytelling that dares to be quiet and sober. It’s mature without trying too hard to be dark. It’s what many animes aim to be, but few achieve.

    750459.jpg

To wrap it up, Monster isn’t something you watch to kill time. It’s an uncomfortable, long, emotionally draining experience. But if you can handle the pacing and like anime that lingers in your mind for days, then you really shouldn’t miss it.

Excellent psychological thriller that keeps suspense till the very end. Captivating story, that raises multiple deep moral questions, especially in the beginning. Interesting concept. A good mix of drama, mystery, storytelling and action. Immersive atmosphere.

Late 20th century European aesthetics and unforgettable "Tří Žába".

  6. Monster-A thought provoking anime[ENG/SPA]@omokhafue629d

ENG As much as I would like to say I've never encountered a mind altering anime or any life changing anime that would make me think different, I don't think I have.. I think I might slowly or gradually be turning into a psychopath but I blame the books and contents I read for that. But then again,it isn't the real world so voicing this out is basically worthless because it isn't close to a real thing. I always try to look at the world, the universe different,in ways the character of whatsoever I'm watching or reading view it.I've tried to understand the establishment of religions, politics, dynasties, the logic of living and taking one's life, hate and love in animes I'm watching. Well,I gave up in understanding anything and enough of what that was. Let's talk about an anime that provoked my thoughts, ayy? Well, that would be Monster. Roar!

94ebe0d8e6f80bf5a859558510c3775f.jpg Source Monster is a psychological thriller which consists of about 74 episodes. The series begins with Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese neurosurgeon who was working somewhere in Germany,Dusseldort to be exact. An emergency of a young boy,Johan Leibert was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound and at the same the mayor with injuries of higher tier was brought in also. Tenma was in a position to make a choice ,choose between saving the young boy and saving the mayor. Mind you,the mayor could serve as a major influence in his career in multiple ways. A choice was made and Tenme eventually chooses to save Johan's life.

Then there was the Red Rose Mansion. A secret facility Tenma was curious about and wanted to investigate in regards to their mysterious conspiracies. The Red Rose Mansion was a facility that conducted inhumane experiments on children. These included things like mind control; with the use of hypnosis or programming, psychological conditioning and genetic enhancing (stuff like super strength). The facility's aim was to create perfect soldiers and be able to control them. This is really similar to what was done in Black Widow. Literal mind control, not with hypnosis or anything. Mind control. This had something to do with Johan, increasing Tenma's curiousity more.

1905fc916fe151800558bba092f81dd6.jpg Source Watching Monster was overwhelming. Not only did it create a blur line between right and wrong,it was traumatizing in a way to watch. I felt things like anxiety, empathy and confusion. At one point,I was ho pacing in my room and yelled, "What the hell is going on?"

Sincerely,I loved the plot. It was really complex and the story telling was intricate. This anime definitely provoked my thoughts and way of thinking,I can't even lie.

All in all, it's a good anime. I won't really say I recommend it with goodness in my heart and excitement die to the way it affected me and made me think, but it's watchable and really good.

    >You guys should check out my vocabulary real quick!🤓 I've been reading, again!

  7. Monster: All people's lives are not equal [ENG/ESP]@cjlugo702d

    wp3084735-monster-anime-wallpapers.jpg Source

The oath that doctors take when they graduate is practically a life motto of their profession, and in the anime called Monster, it is one of the things that is highlighted in the first chapters.

It should be noted that the story is based on a manga by Naoki Urasawa, a mangaka recognized for excellent works, but undoubtedly the most relevant and most successful has been Monster, a thrilling story, full of suspense, cruelty and values, the latter above all, reflected in the character of Dr. Kenzo Tenma, who ultimately is the protagonist.

While I don't intend to cover the entire series in this post, I only wish to touch on the Hippocratic Oath, as it is the main theme at the beginning of the series. What would you do if you were ordered to operate on one person over another just because they have a different social status?

The title of the post is not based on what I believe, but it was one of the phrases used by Dr. Kenzo's fiancée when the life of a music star was saved but the life of a worker was disregarded, the latter being the one who should have been operated, however, due to the pretensions of the director, the famous was ordered to be operated on before the worker, and consequently he died negligently.

That fact brought an immense guilt in Dr. Kenzo's conscience, and was the trigger for his decisions in later cases, because putting the life of one to the detriment of another is really not the right thing to do.

    Monster (1).png Screenshot

Honestly it caught my attention, and I must confess that this plot caught me quickly, since seeing the attitude of the Doctor, and how he suffered in his conscience to do the right thing brought him consequences, but once he did it he felt true freedom in his mind. And this is the point I liked the most, doing the right thing will always bring guarantees.

Dr. Kenzo felt peace of mind but temporarily suffered the consequences, the simple fact of not submitting to external ambitions made him lose "certain privileges" and despite being the best neurosurgeon he was excluded because of his principles.

Have you ever suffered because of not compromising your values? Or have you given in to pressure? These are good questions.

I think these kinds of stories are worth reading, and if they are animated as in this case, it's good to see the anime. I clarify that it is a work of more than 20 years ago, its animation is according to the 90's, in my opinion excellent, its plot spectacular, so my recommendation is that you can see it if you have not seen it.

¿Alguna vez has padecido a causa de no comprometer tus valores?

  8. MONSTER HIGH REVIEW@omokhafue1041d

Definitely risking my life watching movies but what is life without risk? This is a review about the movie Monster High-the live action. I remember the first time I watched the animation of Monster High on Nickelodeon. I was so young and it was so good. I always mixed Monster High and Ever After High, calling one the other. Hehe.

    Source

Monster High is a musical based movie. The animation was out in the year 2010, then the live action followed suit 6th October, 2022. It was directed by Todd Holland. Monster High revolves around Clawdeen Wolf(played by Milia Harris), a werewolf who sought to gain the freedom to be her true monster self. By the way, Monster High is a school for monsters (strictly monsters). Clawdeen isn't a full monster, she's part human too. Irrespective of it, she somehow finds her way into and around the school.

Like every high school-ish movie with students that have the resemblance of what you'd call powers or ability, there's always a villain, the bad guy. During her stay in Monster High, Clawdeen searches for a way to get rid of the human part of her. Coincidentally or not, another monster existed that was out to get rid of its own human part also.

And now I feel I'm throwing some spoilers here, I'll pause on that.Anyways, this review was always meant to be a short one,my heart knows I'm not cut out for anything long as of this moment, sadly.

I feel the movie aims at promoting self value, confidence and love. In order to see the good you do and acknowledge it,you need to accept yourself for who you are,in and out. Change is good but only to a certain point then it becomes pointless, stupid and sad. Don't change yourself cause you feel you're not accepted in a particular place.

As most cases with live action movies are, the original animation tops! Monster High, the live action wasn't good and it wasn't bad either. My own opinion guys: it was plain. It didn't give me this spark or jiggy excitement you get when you're watching you're childhood cartoons and movies and stuff and I was utterly disappointed. The songs in the movies were cringy at one point but they all made sense. I'd give this movie 2 out of 5 stars. My heart itched a little. Thanks for reading

  9. [FR-ENG] Monster: Urasawa narrates human fear in his manga@albator851213d

[ENG] Monster: Urasawa narrates human fear in his manga

I don't think that this manga, written and drawn by the genius of Naoki Urasawa, needs any introduction, especially for those who are more familiar with the subject. Leaving aside the aesthetic beauty of the 9 volumes of the Deluxe edition, I admit that rediscovering the tragic adventures of the protagonists of 'Monster' was a formidable journey. There really is everything in this work, from the literary genres to the historical references that characterised the second half of the 20th century: the nightmare of Nazism that never disappeared from Europe, the aftermath of World War II, the division of the European state of Czechoslovakia and the bogeyman of espionage, the Berlin Wall, Communism, experiments on human beings, the manipulation of thought and will. In short, it is one of those instances in which one can find so much moral philosophy as to attract the attention of even the most scrupulous academics.

    The history of the manga

Monster made its debut in Japan on 5 December 1994 in the Japanese magazine Big Comic Original and reached its epilogue on 20 December 2001. The cadence was periodic and at the end of a long wait, the publishing house Shōgakukan collected the 165 chapters of the work and incorporated them into 18 volumes published from 30 June 1995 to 28 February 2002.

Some might think that it took Urasawa so long to finish the script, yet it should be pointed out that it was precisely in those years that he decided to start writing the texts for 20th Century Boys (first published in 1999). Obviously, the distribution also fell worldwide and the story of Dr. Kenzo Tenma became known throughout Europe and also in America (North and South).

    The anime

Given the good results of Monster, Urasawa thought it was appropriate to make an animated transposition of the comic strip. For this reason, Madhouse launched the 74-episode anime that aired in Japan from 7 April 2004 to 28 September 2005 on Nippon Television and was later collected in five DVD box sets. The series was written and directed by Tatsuhiko Urahata and Masayuki Kojima. The anime's soundtrack was composed by Kuniaki Haishima. In addition to the original music, it makes use of the instrumental track Transiente by the Chilean group Quilapayún. British composer David Sylvian was later hired to write the closing song For the Love of Life together with Haishima.

    https://www.bedetheque.com/serie-3319-BD-Monster-Urasawa.html

    Success

Monster was a great success both in sales and with critics. It is considered to be perhaps the greatest manga created by Urasawa and many world magazines have showered the author with praise. Several awards have also been won, but the most sensational thing is that, even today, the major Hollywood film figures are said to be intent on making a film or TV series on the subject. In fact, in the beginning, New Line Cinema seemed intent on making a live action in 2009, however, it didn't go through. A few years later (2014), Guillermo del Toro had reached an agreement with HBO for the production of a TV series, but even in this circumstance nothing came of it because the broadcaster did not seem convinced of the possible success of the operation. According to sources, however, it seems that the Mexican director has no intention of giving up. Who knows how it will turn out!

    Analysis and Review

Now comes the hardest part: analysing and reviewing Monster is not an easy thing to do. The manga requires a high level of attention and that is why the reading is slow but enjoyable, definitely smooth. Each chapter and each volume forces the reader to stop and reflect on what is seen along the boards because every detail is crucial, losing something along the way could therefore be fatal to comprehension.

Urasawa creates a main narrative strand and throws in others, creating a series of subplots and secondary characters that actually play a far from marginal role. Each element is perfectly connected and each of the protagonists has a precise profile that is gradually made more and more explicit. The merits, the flaws, the sorrows, the joys, but above all the dark sides of everyone emerge, even of those who seem not to be moved by any form of evil. In fact, Dr Tenma is the embodiment of how a gentle soul can take on all the responsibilities of the world and retain his humanity while learning to handle a gun. The only blemish on his existence was that he saved from death a child who would later turn out to be the monster (or one of the many monsters) skilled in handling every thread of the story.

    https://www.bedetheque.com/BD-Monster-Urasawa-Tome-3-511-Kinderheim-17755.html

In fact, the plot is all about this detail and is set in Germany and the Czech Republic (only for a few chapters). It starts in 1986, in the German city of Düsseldorf, where the brilliant surgeon Kenzo Tenma is able to perform real miracles with a scalpel. He works in a highly specialised local clinic (the Eisler Memorial Hospital) and is engaged to Eva Heinemann, the director's daughter. Tenma is Japanese and has made a career in Europe. However, some events change his life but the crucial moment is when a child shows up in the operating room with a gunshot wound to the head. The man manages to save him but at great cost because a few years later he discovers that this child has become a socially dangerous subject not only for Germany but for the whole world. To make matters worse, that little boy, Johan, has a twin sister from whom he is eventually separated: Nina/Anna. This is how it all began! A dangerous serial killer starts killing middle-aged couples and Tenma discovers that those families had adopted (separately) those very twins who changed their names (only Anna) and surnames (both). Discovering the truth causes the protagonist to harbour a devastating sense of guilt, but his attempts to prevent the worst each time lead him to be the first suspect in those murder cases. Here also starts the long string of characters who powerfully enter the plot, playing a fundamental role. They are stern, they are knowledgeable, they are ruthless, but there are also those who are good-hearted; they make one think, they make one angry, they make one moved, they create nostalgia and second thoughts.

The Bka inspector Heinrich Lunge, Eva Heinemann, Wolfgang Grimmer, the terrible Roberto, Helmut Wolf, Rudy Gillen, Julius Reichwein, Fritz Wardemann, Franz Bonaparta/Klaus Poppe and even the little foundling Dieter are the pieces of a very complicated and elaborate puzzle, like the plot of the manga that far surpasses the paradoxes of 20th Century Boys (which is a different genre altogether). Monster appears as a work that tends to emphasise the permanence of the nightmares generated by 20th century history, especially after the disasters wrought by Nazism and beyond. That extreme right that everyone in Germany today disowns, vibrates in Urasawa's pages like a giant drill. It is perhaps the manifestation of the fear that someone, even years later, might think of creating a new Reich and a new Hitler, laying the foundations for the creation of a dominant Aryan race.

Behind the figure of Johan, whose intellect surpasses all imagination, there are criminal organisations, banks, study groups, sects and so on. He represents the beginning of a new era for many unscrupulous men who have in the past made the Aryan model into a real experiment on human beings. Stories and legends about the scientists of National Socialism thus gain strength through the eyes of disturbing figures tormented by human wickedness. The incredible thing is that Tenma and Johan's paths tend to cross with characters of all kinds: wealthy businessmen, bankers, writers, university students, professionals. It is as if the world is held by the same deadly hand, a god who decides what to do with other people's lives. Johan must therefore be the new Hitler, even if his desire is the erasure of memory and memories, thus making Tenma live a life of loneliness and identity crisis just as he did. Yet, behind every monster there is a genesis, and Tenma will discover the darker, hidden sides of the world, home to human beings with a perverse, nefarious mind, intent on playing with the lives and lives of others. Monster is a portrait of human madness that sows and spreads panic at will. Urasawa takes this piece of German history (also mentioning the Berlin Wall period) and wedges it in the middle of the issue of Czechoslovakia's communism: espionage, the former Czechoslovak police, the Prague Spring, the Slovak issue and above all the beginning of everything. Nina and Johan are united by an unbreakable bond because they both had to suffer separation from their biological mother and were separated after an initial adoption as children. Their memories at some point cross paths, their memories become one and show the evilness of those who have no respect for other people's lives, of those who are convinced that they can create human beings at will, of those who are convinced that this history of Nazism can still stand!

    https://www.bedetheque.com/BD-Monster-Urasawa-Tome-5-Apres-la-fete-18823.html

"I saw the monster": this is what many people keep saying in the manga. Johan also involves serial killers in killing innocents, turns normal people into terrible murderers, convinces children to commit suicide in order to discover new worlds that only psychopathy can see. Yet, someone has been playing with him. Who is the real monster? The real monster is what each of us carries inside and is unable to hold. Tenma is intent on killing Johan and making amends for the mistake of saving his life: this, however, is not enough to teach him how to kill, he manages to keep his humanity and keep alive even those who want to kill him, those who want to arrest him and especially those who have played with his life. Nina and Dieter are the pious souls who keep him on his feet and make him realise that the right thing must be done. Tenma himself is the spearhead of the themes in the manga. A Japanese man who finds himself in Germany to make a career and has to account for many things, including the extreme right. It is as if somehow Urasawa wanted to emphasise that racism is a stain that is difficult to erase even for a proud people like Japan, which regrets having made the wrong choice in the years of the Triple Alliance. In addition, the theme of childhood, play and fairy tales is also present: the character of Franz Bonaparta and his thousands of literary pseudonyms are perhaps the most difficult puzzle to solve because it is behind his fairy tales that a part of the twins' past and of all the victims of that damned 511 Kinderheim, the hellish orphanage where children were abused and experimented on. Johan is the perfect masterpiece of the 511 Kinderheim (despite showing imbalances even as a child). Grimmer, on the other hand, is what an adult (who grew up as a child in that orphanage) does not want to be, he is the proof that the experiments of their executioners can fail, albeit in time and at a very high price. I think it's this aspect that makes Grimmer perhaps the best secondary character in the manga because while Johan is pure calculating instinct used to reason, Grimmer is pure human reflection (and he doesn't know he's succeeding in this).

In Monster every character could betray or die at any moment, every place hides a meaning and a past. Each of the characters leaves something along the way and no matter how much the world is overrun by monsters, a hope for goodness and love is always alive. Just look at the ending which, to be honest, is also quite emblematic. Monster is thus a story of madness but also a synthesis of the dramatic historical cross-section that characterised Central Europe from the end of World War II until the 1990s. The drawings are excellent, beautiful and Urasawa's style is unmistakable. The author recreates places and architecture in Germany and the Czech Republic to perfection. Everything appears very realistic, especially in the physiognomies of the characters who are able to manifest all kinds of reactions and feelings. Urasawa's women are sensual and sweet in some cases, ugly and vulgar in others, charming and lethal when needed. Nina and Eve are two faces of the same coin: the former is the representation of goodness of spirit and a life of duty; the latter is the emblem of sin, conceit, vices and more. Yet, is there hope of redemption for all? Perhaps yes, but only for some! After all, as Goya said in his portrait: 'the sleep of reason begets monsters'!

What do you think? Have you ever read this manga?

    https://animesweet.com/anime/naoki-urasawa-creator-of-the-monster-manga-is-producing-a-new-anime-series/

    https://www.bedetheque.com/serie-3319-BD-Monster-Urasawa.html

    https://www.bedetheque.com/BD-Monster-Urasawa-Tome-5-Apres-la-fete-18823.html

  10. REVIEW of a MASTERPIECE ANIME/MONSTER@pompoko1524d

After Tsugumi Ohba's Death Note, another masterpiece by Naoki Urasawa in Psychological-Mystery genre is this anime called "Monster". The total number of episodes is 74. Which is twice as much as "Death note". This is an anime of mystery psycho thriller genre. For this it is worth seeing. I thought it was a very deep thought , now come with a little entertainment. However, the entertainment was not taken. In this too Deep Philosophical Matters had to face sapper.

    Anime Review: Monster

    Writer : Naoki Urasawa

    Original Run : 7 April, 2004 - 28 September, 2005

    Rating: 8.8/10

    !!SPOILER!!

The name suggests that there is a supernatural matter in it. But there is no such thing in it. The way the story is drawn here and the way the characters are portrayed is very realistic. Yet for the sound effects and its slow pace it is no less than any horror and thrilling anime. It will give you enough thrill even if it is realistic. And the reason is its twist on the plot and the central villain character.

This is a conflicting anime with two opposing characters' philosophies. The name of the hero in this anime is Dr. Tenma Keina is a specialist neurosurgeon and the villain is Johann Libert (although it is Not the real name !! The facts can be understood by watching the anime) and he is of extreme antagonistic and nihilistic nature. On the other hand. Tenma is a symbol of optimism and justice. But it so happened that one day two young boys and a girl were injured in the hospital where he was working. The boy was shot in the head. And the hero takes charge of this treatment. Since he is a very skilled surgeon he operated on the boy successfully.

But the tragedy happened and the boy suddenly disappeared from the hospital bed shortly after the operation and the girl who was there also disappeared. Everyone suspects that this is the work of the murderer, the murderer has kidnapped the boy and the girl. Then mysteriously 3 people died at the hospital. After these stories, the police investigation started and a skilled detective took charge of solving the case. In this case, the detective suspected on Tenma. Because one of the three people who died was the director of the hospital who said , Tenma conspired and was demoted from his post. And the reason for the demolition is that the two young boys, the director to operate on a mayor during the operation of the girl. Gave instructions. Now there were other doctors too but as the skill of the hero is at a critical level and if the mayor is treated then the reputation of the hospital will increase and donations will be available. This was the attitude of the director. But Dr. Tenma realizes this, and since he first gets the case of the two children, he disobeys the instructions and operates on the boy. As a result, he was demoted from his post. It also stopped the new research that the doctor was doing. And he had a love affair with the director's daughter, which also broke up. All in all, the anger and frustration was born. Tenma thinks, The detective took this as the motive of the murder. But even then, the matter was put on hold for about nine years due to substantial evidence and the presence of a doctor elsewhere at the time of the murder. And after these nine years, it is not seen to be so bad.

But after nine years. After the death of the new director came and said. Tenma regains his old position. Everything was going well, but then came the real twist of the incident. Dr. After Tenma heals him, the thief who decides to tell the story of the murderer dies the same night as the guard who kept the murderer under surveillance, and the thief escapes in panic. Tenma chases the thief, and those nine-year-old memories come back. image.png

The doctor then meets the villain. I didn't expect the villain to show up so soon. The villain then says he is the little boy that Tenma saved nine years ago with an operation. The murders that followed are his. Then Dr. Tenma's morality, Value begins to hunt him down. image.png

He is a doctor, his job is to save people, but his saved man is doing these terrible things today. What he really did is right. Then he began to question the morality of the good and the bad in the pain of this conflict. He tries to stop the villain but in front of his eyes he kills the witness and leaves. And then the doctor was disappointed and told the detective everything. Tenma must have a double character. He is a good man in front of everyone but when his character wakes up, he kills and becomes a good man again.

The doctor then quit his job at the hospital and went out to look for the villain, wanting to kill him. He became a Most Wanted Criminal because of the suspicion of the police and his sudden disappearance. In this way, after fleeing as a criminal, all the more horrible information came out to find the villain and the secret organization came out. All the tragic and horrible information about the villain is coming out. And there are many more characters to be associated with it.

The main theme of this anime is the villain. This means that everything revolves around Johan. And this character is so beautifully portrayed that it reminds us of our inner emptiness, how helpless a person can be when he can't find the meaning of life, and how deadly the effect of wrong teaching can be on a child's mind. Johann is said to be a "pessimistic nihilist", a symbol of negative pessimism, and behind it is a huge influence on his past life that builds the character. image.png

On the other hand, the doctor is optimistic that one day or another good days will come. All human beings have equal value in life. But Johann's idea is that man is empty, there is nothing here but death. So he wants to destroy everything, even himself.

In this way, the two ideas take us to the end of this anime and give a deep message. In addition to the heroes and villains, there are other characters in the anime - Detective Lunge, Eva Heinemann, Wolf Grimmer, Roberto, Nina, Dieter, France Bonaparta, and so on. Of these, our favorite character is Wolf Grimmer. And the most disliked is Roberto K. Detective Lung wasn't liked at first, but liked it later by me. I likes the villain too, but likes fear more than that. It's very normal to be such an emotionless villain, and not to speak like a cold knife. All in all, this anime was perfect.

In the end, this anime teaches us later on that we have to face an extreme emptiness at some point in our lives. And then some value for life or Meaning is needed which comes from ultimate love, comes from forgiveness, comes from above all conflicts.

    Thanks for the reading.

  11. [ESP| ENG] Monster Musume no Iru Nichijō@dimeshana1610d

Good morning beautiful people, today I want to tell you about an anime I recently saw with @ilazramusic, this cute, interesting but quite ecchi anime called: Monster Musume HAHAHAHA, I hope you enjoy this post as much as I'm enjoying doing it, I hope you enjoy doing it!

    Separador.png

I'm not a big fan of ecchi, because it almost never has an interesting story or if it does they twist it or change it in any way to exploit a lot of sexual scenes and naked bodies HAHAHAHA, that's not bad, because if one wants to look for a more interesting story or something that focuses on that we simply look for an anime with that style but if one looks for an ecchi one seeks to have fun or be entertained with what is any joke or sexual scene.

    Separador.png

Already after having told this I want to talk about this one especially, Monster Musume has an interesting story because it is a universe where some mystical monsters that we know coexist with humans and rules are created so that everything is in harmony. Well, our protagonist lives with a Lamia who is LOSTLY IN LOVE WITH HIM and really, regardless of the rules, wants to make and have a life of love and passion with him. The rules are simple: Humans can't hurt a "Non-Human" and they can't hurt a human, and obviously they emphasize that this also means not BEING ABLE TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM.

    Separador.png

This is the funniest thing because obviously the Lamia Mia wants to have sex with her beloved Kimihito (name that by the way is almost never heard in the series HAHAHA) but she can't and as we are talking about an ecchi anime ANYWAY SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN THAT CAUSES SOMETHING SEXUAL BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS. Also this anime is a Harem, that is, there are many women who are interested in our protagonist, but something that gave me a lot of laughter in the series was that, IT WAS NEVER HIM WHO WAS LOOKING FOR THOSE GIRLS, IT WAS THE CIRCUMVENTIONS.

    Separador.png

Kimihito, first you don't know his name because EVERY WOMAN has a nickname for him: Honey, husband, master, teacher, everything but his real name making me never learn his name and have much more fun. I admit that watching this anime can really entertain you a lot and every time you see a VERY unnecessary scene where they exploit something sexual or sensual, you will laugh, because it will make you laugh how unnecessary it is, I did not feel uncomfortable or disgusted as I had happened with other ecchis I had seen (and never finished).

    Separador.png

I was also very entertained by the fact of how they drew each "Non-Human" species, lamias, centaurs, slimes, mermaids and there is even a spider woman, really the creativity to draw them was quite excellent, taking advantage of how the real ones are and how to make them very attractive. Now I want to talk about my favorite character in this series and my favorite couple, because for me, if I like a Harem, I have a favorite couple whether or not the main character is going to stay with them.

    Separador.png

A perfect example is Clannad, those who know this anime will know that this anime is a romance game of "choose your girl" and the anime implied it a little but in the end he stayed with one, well I there in that anime had my favorite which is Kotomi and if I would have liked that the protagonist would have stayed with her, but it was not so, in monster musume happens the same, and I want to mention that too.

    Separador.png

    Suu

I really love this girl, at the beginning when I was introduced to her I thought she would be a girl more in love with the main character and to complete, as she is a slime, that is, she can take the figure she wants, she was always going to have very big breasts and a slender body all over.... BUT IT WASN'T LIKE THAT... she always stayed in her normal form which is a short, tender girl with few breasts and without much desire to provoke the main character because she doesn't know much about human communication.

    Separador.png

She was used much more for sensual scenes with other girls, because Suu as a slime needs to hydrate to survive and continue in her normal form and almost always seeks water in the body of the other girls, giving us very... scenes between the girls. Of the rest, I really like this character because of the tenderness she shows all the time and how uninterested she is that he pays a lot of attention to her and chooses her as a partner.

    Separador.png

    With Miia

Miia is the lamia that we are shown as the first "Non-Human" who lives with Kimihito and really while the series is developing I feel that the greatest connection that this protagonist has is with her, with the others the circumstances make accidents or sexual or uncomfortable situations and he is very kind to all but I feel that with Mia there is something more than "caring for everyone" or "wish welfare" in this case I felt that I loved her as something more and they understood each other together.

    Separador.png

Really if you want to have fun for a while, tolerate unnecessary sexual or sensual scenes and want to watch an anime with a simple theme but in an interesting universe I highly recommend this anime, it is really worth it and I would not put it in the "typical ecchi" anime. Finally I leave you the opening that is amazing, it's catchy and you have fun singing it.

    Separador.png

    Separador.png

I hope you liked this post, if you already knew this anime I would love to read what you think about it or if it catches your attention to watch it.

    See you soon!

  12. A review of Monster, one of my favorite anime@aurzeq1614d

Hello Hivers, Monster is an anime adaptation of a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoki Urasawa.

    capture.png

    Source

    Plot

Monster follows Dr. Kenzo Tenma, who works as a brain surgeon in a hospital in Dusseldorf after the fall of the Berlin Wall in the mid-1990s. He goes against orders and operates on a little kid, Johan Liebert, who was shot in the head by his twin sister Anna. As a result, he is unable to attend to the city mayor, who later dies under the operating table of a colleague. Years later Tenma encounters again the young boy and discovers that he has become a really dangerous serial killer. After this, starts the man hunting.

    Why you should watch it

    Mainly because:
    • Writing: The pacing is a slow burn that cleverly captivates the audience with moments of shock, amazement, and depravity, expertly paired with well-executed moments of anticipation and suitable denouement. Once the backdrop and many of the characters have been established, the series embarks on a tremendous rollercoaster of action, suspense, and character development. As the underlying mystery unfolds, viewers will rarely feel as if they have missed an essential piece of information, instead of finding themselves glued to the screen. Monster's dialogue isn't squandered on nonsense. The tense atmosphere is heightened by skillfully constructed lines that provide insight into the personalities of the protagonists while also casting mistrust shadows. The intelligent interconnection of all the characters, particularly near the show's climax, gives a clear idea of the great work performed.

    • Great characters: The depth of Monster's characters is perhaps its greatest quality, with the main cast representing some of the genre's strongest protagonists, while the supporting cast is often defined considerably better than the regular cast in many other series. The show does an exceptional job of bringing its characters to life, and while viewers will be "wowed" by the brilliance of the key roles, they may find themselves developing attached to the lesser characters throughout the course of the series. The complicated relationship between the Tenma and Johann is the series' centerpiece. Tenma's emotional, physical, and psychological transformations guide the spectator through a tangle of personal and social morality dilemmas. This is accomplished admirably without losing Tenma's core humanity or succumbing to didacticism and contrasts sharply with Johan's manipulations and calculations, which strike the spectator as cold and terrifyingly realistic. The supporting cast does an excellent job of heightening the intensity and seriousness of Tenma and Johan's relationship. They're all well-crafted and executed, and they frequently feature demons and conflicts that remind the spectator of what exactly exists at the intersection of good and evil.

    • Enjoyment: From its brilliant characters with outstanding development to its well-paced story and realistic setting, Monster will leave you on the edge of your seat. Finding a show like this is a real treat, and whilst 74 episodes may seem daunting, it is utterly worthwhile in light of the great journey taken. The show’s dramatic storyline and intrigue-filled atmosphere will keep you guessing, thinking, and feeling. The complex issues and relationships addressed throughout mark this as one of the most unique anime to appear in many years, and the questions it asks should be confronted by everyone at least once. Monster is a true rarity in anime. The quality of its story, cast, and production have earned it widespread acclaim, even garnering its plaudits from the “hate what’s popular” clique. It is both entertaining and enlightening, and the sheer depth of the series has led to it being widely regarded as a modern classic of anime.

    Rating

Overall Monster is one of the greatest anime that I have ever seen and for this reason, it is in my top 10 anime ever.

    9.0/10.0

  13. Monster Musume No Oisha-San - An Anime With An Interesting Theme That Didn't Make The Most Of It [ENG -ESP]@kuronokenshi1918d

    image.png screenshot of my monitor

There are many anime of the Fantasy genre that usually include elements of Ecchi or harem in its development and that in the end turn out to have good relevance and popularity among the public, however this does not mean that just by making an anime of this style you can be successful without worrying about creating a good story and a great character development. This is the case of an anime that even with an unusual theme and even a little innovative ends up being a fairly irrelevant and below average anime, the name of this anime is Monster Musume no Oisha-san also known as Monster Girl Doctor, a relatively recent anime since it was published in mid-2020 counting with a total of 12 chapters and is based on a light novel of the same name which began its publication in 2016 and is still in broadcast which belongs to the Seinen demographic, it also has a manga in publication since 2018 also belonging to the Seinen demographic.

Separador Final sin fondo.png image.png screenshot of my monitor

This anime has a somewhat different story and approach to Fantasy anime as it is based on a Doctor and protagonist of the anime called Glenn Litbeit, in this world there are a variety of monsters, from cyclops, centaurs, Harpies, Giants, Mermaids and many more, after a long war between Humans and Monsters manages to reach a general peace and humans and monsters begin to live together instead of fighting each other. The whole story takes place in the city of Lindworn which is a city founded with the objective that humans and monsters live together as one race in harmony and peace. Doctor Glenn is a great doctor of monsters despite being human and is highly respected in the city to be considered one of the best specialists in medicine for monsters. The whole series is based on Dr. Glenn healing and saving all the monsters that need help.

    image.png screenshot of my monitor

Although the main idea of this anime is somewhat striking the development of the story leaves much to be desired, on many occasions little relevance is given to the disease itself or main theme of the chapter which does not end up being important or striking enough to become the center of attention during the episode. Many characters after having an episode focused on them and press them to be relevant during the episode become unimportant in the other chapters and practically one ends up forgetting about them. Although some stories during this anime manage to be somewhat interesting and capture the viewer's attention to some extent they fail to do this in each chapter and often turn out to be very predictable and even a little boring episodes in addition to never get to deepen much on any particular issue and only seems to be a variety of short stories with little development.

Separador Final sin fondo.png image.png screenshot of my monitor

Perhaps one of the most mistaken decisions in this anime is the excessive use of the Ecchi or harem style, as a result of which the few scenes where a more serious or sentimental atmosphere is created end up losing importance. By the end of the series they try to tell a more complex story with a more dramatic approach than the rest of the chapters and although from a certain point it ends up being a good decision, they manage to achieve a great development of the story due to the fact that they develop it in very few chapters. One of the things that surprised me the most was the fact that it is an anime based on a Seinen Novel, since during all the chapters there is never a very dramatic, deep story or one that includes strong and complicated issues for the protagonists, it gives the impression of being more of a Shonen that relies heavily on fanservice where the relevance of the background of the story is the least important thing.

Separador Final sin fondo.png image.png screenshot of my monitor

    image.png screenshot of my monitor

Separador Final sin fondo.png image.png screenshot of my monitor

  14. monster rancher a copy of a copy but classy and very very good anime@damoclesart2031d

91W9DKVaLOL.SL1500.jpg Good morning to all those in this community who love anime and manga, a while ago I talked about the classic battle between pokemon and digimon, two different series but with certain things in common and I talked about which was better, something that is extremely difficult since both They have their unique taste, but today I bring a third anime that they have always said is the copy of the copy, that is, it is the copy of Digimon which in turn Digimon is the copy of Pokemon, but Monster Rancher for me is a jewel of childhood and unfortunately they did not get anything else for television, let's talk a little about my memories about this anime

Well, I saw this anime when I was little, I do not remember how old I was but it was in the middle of the world digimon fever against pokemon and this anime came out that if I remember correctly it was created in Korea, at that time I saw it on a cable television channel called fox kids

FOX_Kids_logo.svg.png channel in which very good anime series passed for all audiences, digimon, platabor, beyblade among others, among them was monster rancher an anime that was closer to digimon than pokemon

maxresdefault.jpg This series began in the real world with the protagonist (it is always a child) who likes video games and gets a strange game that he had never seen before, he goes home and puts it on his console that was very very similar to the ps1 or psx hahaha I remember it well since I had one, and the game absorbs it taking it to the world of monsters, already here it is very similar to digimon as you see

The boy gets friends a human and several monsters with different personalities that will help him fight against the bad monsters that are many and varied also whose designs were excellent and very original, I was in love with a villain named pixie who later becomes good hahaha I remember her well

pixie.jpg and well the anime continues its course until fighting the villain of villains I do not remember his name but it had two phases, one was like a golden knight and the other was already a giant monster similar to godzilla but hairy haha, that final battle was epic I remember it well because I liked it a lot and well, good always wins of course, the protagonist leaves that world and in the real world not a second had passed if I remember correctly

07c099a364231f052994c236b8d5e19c13cda4d5_00.jpg I really liked this anime I want to see it again and remember those times, unlike digimon and pokemon it was not so easy to get figures from this series but I still managed to have two figurines and stickers, really a good childhood memory that I wanted to comment And who has not seen it, what are you waiting for? I recommend it 100% really

The story begins in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1986, where there were still followers of Hitler and the Berlin Wall divided the country in two. The main character is Dr. Kenzou Tenma, a young and extremely talented Japanese neurosurgeon who works in a famous hospital. Despite having strong morals, he is shaken by the corruption within the hospital where he works, and is even more so after discovering in a shameful way that, because of this, he is involuntarily involved in the unjust death of a patient. One day two children are brought in urgently, one of them is a boy with a bullet lodged in his brain, soon after the mayor of the city also arrives in a serious condition. Even against the direction of the hospital, Tenma decides to operate on the child who had arrived first and then resulting in the death of the politician. With this, she loses the support of the hospital director, as well as her position and her fiancée who was only interested in money. Years later, the director of the hospital and the doctors who replaced him are murdered and after these events Tenma ends up becoming the main suspect of the crimes. Tenma decides to go after the killer to clear his name and the mistakes of the past. Without knowing it, he will be involved in a complex plot that encompasses crimes, violence and twists and turns, forcing Tenma to risk her life to stop a real "monster" and correct what may (or may not) have been the biggest mistake she has ever made.

Combining in a way of great mystery, psychological study of characters and philosophical themes about the value of human life and evil, implicit themes that force any viewer to pay attention to them, even while watching the play. Monster is one of those series that practically already have the word "masterpiece" as a subtitle. In all things, this anime seeks to be the best and most fascinating possible: the writing of the plot is dark and full of suspense, sadness and despair, but not without its most joyful and even funny moments to make the audience sigh with relief in the midst of all the tension; but without forgetting to bring a new surprise, from the first to the last episode. The characters, like almost everything in the series, are human, complex, captivating, and we come to identify with their problems and reasons. However, the protagonists reveal themselves as mentally disturbed people. Without being just weird or cute, often the anime even plays with them, showing what appears to be just a strange or cute character is actually much more than that. In demonstrating the theory that there is a monster inside each of us. The anime revolves around these characters and by going deeper into telling about each one, it would deliver valuable information about the work.

    3

The animation, although extremely realistic, especially in the facial expressions of the characters, has that minimal expressionist touch that justifies the series being animated instead of live action. The settings are one of the things that married very well with the mystery of the play. With a humid climate, Germany's sights, such as mansions, bridges, streets and old castles, are shown very well in the anime. Naoki Urasawa shows the care he took from the stage to even the typical German food. Considering that the story develops slowly, after all, it has a total of 74 episodes, the direction is so fantastically attractive that once you start this anime, you can't stop watching it, even when the plot gives the impression of losing focus and that's when something macabre and unexpected always happens that gathers all the supposedly loose ends, in such a way that it is able to please even the most demanding fans of police dramas; and even if you don't like the genre (or think you don't like it), this is a series that can easily change your mind.

The anime contains a wonderful soundtrack, starting with the opening that perfectly shows the mood of the story. The endings already tell a story from a children's book that is not suitable for children. And the songs played during the scenes manage to blend in very well with the plot.

    4

Monster is a fairly dense anime, the approach is adult and realistic, without any fantastic elements, playing on various human themes while moving a well summarized mix of well developed characters, a narrative as dispersed as well developed with well positioned turns, a very humanized art, a well elaborated animation worthy of the Madhouse studio and a soundtrack that knows how to capture the moments of the anime, from the most pleasant, to the moments when you feel death close. These are characteristics that generally describe well what is considered a classic.

More than just watching a series, the impression you get after watching Monster is that you've been through an unparalleled experience. And a little bit scary, even more so, because so realistic that it seeks to be, one has the impression that something like what happens in the series and the secrets that Tenma discovers could really happen, even if it sounds a little absurd, you will be more aware of the monsters that can really exist in our world.

  24. Monster – Must-Read Manga@grimmyx3234d

If I had to die tommorow, and could read only one last manga, it would be Monster or Berserk. It is really hard to decide which one is better. However today, I will recommend you „Monster.“

    • 1994-2001 • Written by: Naoki Urasawa • Genre – Psychological, Thriller, Mystery, Seinen • Vol:18; Ch:162

The story is about japanese neurosurgeon Kenzo Tenma working in Germany. He has everything in his life. Bright future, money, girlfriend, just everything. Lately, he gives preference to a young boy with gunshot wound to his head, againts mayor of the city he lives. The boy survives, the mayor dies. Tenma loses everything after that.

This is everything I will tell you about a plot. It is for your good, trust me. However it is not „tales from hospital“. Story is actually not about hospital at all. Characters are really well written, you will feel, what they feel and with combination of grim atmosphere, you won’t stop reading. Story has few moments, which you will remember for a very long time and that is always a good thing.

For interest, plot is set in Europe in 80’. Characters travel few times to my country, Czech Republic. You can see czech inscriptions. To be honest, they are not translated well, but this one „Obluda, která nemá své jméno“ which means A Nameless Monster is translated well.

At the end, if you want to read a very good manga, pick this one, you will not regret at all.
