Last year, a huge number of movies were released—so many that it was impossible for me to see them all. That’s why we continue to enjoy great productions featuring actors who have taken a chance on creating something new, and many of them have been thrillers that promise to keep us on the edge of our seats from the very first minute. That’s why Obsession was released—it’s one of those productions that focuses on psychological horror, mystery, and constant tension, three elements that add depth to the story. Very few movies take the risk of creating something in this style.

From the very first scenes, the film conveys a sense that something is about to happen—especially when it comes to a relationship, given the very nature of becoming obsessed with someone. This is something we see today, and it can lead to many consequences—including positive ones for a relationship—and it makes us wonder: What would happen if an obsession with someone never went away? And many other things—the film also takes the opportunity to incorporate a bit of horror, including wishes and rituals.

El año pasado se estrenaron una gran cantidad de películas que para mí fue imposible poder verla todas, por eso seguimos disfrutando de grandes producciones de actores que ha apostado en crear cosas nuevas y gran parte de ellas han sido de suspenso que prometen mantenernos atentos desde el primer minuto. Por eso se estrenó Obsession, la cual es una de esas producciones que apuesta por el terror psicológico, el misterio y la tensión constante, siendo tres elementos que logran darle más profundidad a la historia y son muy pocas las películas que se arriesgan a crear algo de este estilo.

La película desde las primeras escenas se puede notar esa sensación de que va a ocurrir algo y más aún cuando se trata de una relación por el mismo hecho de ocasionar una obsesión con alguien, siendo algo que se puede notar hoy en día y eso puede llevar a traer muchas consecuencias, como también cosas buenas para una relación y nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Qué pasará si la obsesión con alguien nunca se va? Y muchas otras cosas, como también la película aprovecha para darle un poco de terror incluyendo deseos y rituales.

Another strength of the movie Obsession is its focus on creating powerful scenes that feel very real—starting with good lighting and the various settings—and the best part is that it manages to convey that fear without relying on too many special effects; that’s the film’s strongest point. Although as the film gains momentum and the obsession intensifies, there are parts that are very predictable—which is typical of horror movies, though I think they should change that. However, the way they handle it keeps the experience entertaining and maintains the viewer’s interest until the very end.

In this film, the characters also play a major role and bear a great deal of responsibility, since each one must convey that fear, anxiety, and obsession with being with someone, while also making the right decisions so that everything can turn out for the best—because often, an obsession with someone can lead to taking actions that aren’t the right ones. That’s why the film builds up a strong pace to develop each character’s role and maintain the rhythm; it takes the time needed to develop each character so that the tension grows and feels very real.

Otras de las cosas que esta película Obsession apuesta en generar grandes escenas y que cada una se pueda sentir muy real, comenzando desde una buena iluminación, los distintos espacios y lo mejor es que sin tanto efecto lograr transmitir ese miedo y ese es el punto fuerte de esta película. A pesar de que a medida que la película va tomando fuerza y la obsesión va creciendo habrá parte que son muy predecibles y eso es algo típico en las películas de terror, que pienso que deberían cambiarlo. Sin embargo, la forma en que lo resuelven hace que la experiencia siga siendo entretenida y mantenga el interés hasta el final.

En esta película los personajes también tiene un gran papel y responsabilidad, ya que cada uno tiene que transmitir ese miedo, ansiedad y la obsesión de estar con alguien, además tomar la decisión correcta para que así toda pueda salir de la mejor manera, poder muchas veces la obsesión con alguien lleva tomar y hacer acciones que no son más correctas. Por eso aquí la película va tomando un gran ritmo para así poder ir desarrollando ese papel de cada personaje y saber ritmo, la película se toma el tiempo necesario para desarrollar a cada personaje y así la tensión crezca y se sienta muy real.

I really liked the result of Obsession, since it’s an interesting and unique take on the psychological thriller genre—one that allows for the continued creation of new productions in this genre, which is something that sparks a lot of discussion. Plus, it’s a well-crafted story with enough moments of tension to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat—something not all movies manage to do. So if you’re looking for something different that shows you obsession isn’t always a good thing, this is a film worth checking out.

Me gusto mucho el resultado de Obsession, ya que es una apuesta interesante, diferente y a la vez poder seguir creando nuevas producciones con el género de thrillers psicológicos, siendo algo que deja mucho de que hablar. Además, una historia bien construida con suficientes momentos de tensión para mantener al espectador atento y no todas las películas lo logran. Por eso si buscas una entrega distinta y te muestre que la obsesión no siempre es buena, esta es una opción que merece una oportunidad.
