Today I want to talk to you about a film that although it is quite entertaining, personally I don't like it very much because, watching it again with a critical eye, I realised that it has many script holes that end up causing the film to suffer irreparable damage to its story.

Hoy quiero hablarles de una película que aunque es bastante entretenida, en lo personal me gusta muy poco y es que, volviéndola a ver con ojo crítico me di cuenta de que tiene muchos agujeros de guion que terminan haciendo que la película sufra un daño irreparable a su historia.
Starting with the positive aspects, I have to say that it has very good elements such as its cinematography. The film has a very high budget and it shows in its production, the CGI that works has a very good quality and the shots are quite good.
Empezando por los aspectos positivos, tengo que decir que tiene elementos muy buenos como por ejemplo su fotografía. La película cuenta con un presupuesto bastante elevando y se nota en su producción, el CGI que trabaja tiene muy buena calidad y los planos son bastante buenos.
The most interesting and remarkable for me are the aerial shots (there are many in this film) as they emphasize the devastation around our protagonist, and also thanks to this kind of shots we have the most iconic scene of the film (the Zombie tower in Israel).
Los más interesantes y destacables para mi son los aéreos (hay muchos en esta película) ya que enfatizan la devastación en torno a nuestro protagonista, además gracias a este tipo de planos tenemos la escena más icónica de la película (la de la torre de Zombies en Israel)

The performances are also very good, despite the plot holes, the actors work well with what they have, so I have no complaints with this aspect at all.
Las actuaciones también son muy buenas, pese a los agujeros de guion, los actores trabajan bien con lo que tienen, así que no tengo quejas con este aspecto en lo absoluto.
The soundtrack is also good, it emphasises the scenes very well and is very well placed according to the scenes, far from that, it is not very memorable.

Now, let's start with the nonsense within the story. I have to say that although on a filmographic level, the film has a good dynamism (it is not boring), plot-wise it is so frenetic that it loses sense. To begin with, the protagonist travels from one country to another as if he were driving to the supermarket, he goes from the USA to South Korea as if one country was next to the other (even putting "10 hours later" or something like that would have been enough to make the timeline not short and unrealistic).
Ahora sí, empecemos con los sin sentidos dentro de la historia. Tengo que decir que aunque a nivel filmográfico la película lleva un buen dinamismo (no es aburrida) argumentativamente es tan frenética que pierde sentido. Para empezar, el protagonista viaja de un país a otro como si se tratara de ir en auto al supermercado, va desde USA a Corea del Sur como si quedara un país al lado del otro (incluso con poner "10 horas después" o algo por el estilo habría bastando para que la línea de tiempo no se hiciese corta e irreal)
Then we have absurd deaths like the Harvard scientist, why put him in the beginning if he's going to die almost in the next scene in the most idiotic way? It's absurd! He's there standing out for having the most brilliant mind just to make the viewer feel the loss of a valuable resource when he dies, but
I don't think he was very brilliant if accidentally shot himself, besides who gives a gun to an inexperienced scientist in a situation where every bullet counts? he could have killed someone or in effect, killed or hurt himself. A mess and a very stupid scene.
Además tenemos muertes absurdas como las del científico de Harvard, en un principio ¿Para qué lo ponen si va a morir casi a la escena siguiente de la manera más idiota? ¡Es absurdo! Está ahí resaltando por tener la mente más brillante solo para que el espectador sienta la pérdida de un recurso valioso cuando muere, pero para dispararse a si mismo en la cabeza por accidente, muy brillante no creo que haya sido, además ¿Quién le da un arma a un científico sin experiencia en una situación en la que cada bala cuenta? podría haber matado a alguien o en efecto, matarse o hacerse daño a sí mismo. Un desastre y una escena muy estúpida.

Por otro lado está la "trama" de Corea del Norte donde según un ex agente de la C.I.A, el gobierno Norcoreano le sacó los dientes a su población poco antes de la explosión del virus... Queeeeeé? si me dicen en la peli que el virus se propaga en segundos o a lo mucho 10 minutos y Corea del Norte tiene una población aproximada de 25 millones de habitantes ¿Cómo me explican que en menos de 24 hrs el gobierno de esa nación le sacó los dientes a toda su población? 🤣🤣🤣 el guionista pone estas estupideces para impresionar al espectador porque "Corea del norte sabía todo con anticipación" poniendo, una situación muy poco realista por no decir estúpida.

It's very unrealistic, like almost everything in the movie, and you might be thinking "but it's a zombie movie, zombies aren't real" well, within the genre of course it has to be as realistic as possible, even in the Harry Potter universe where there is magic, the story keeps coherence and realism for the genre it belongs to. The evacuation scene is very idiotic, to begin with they try to be stealthy but anyway they are going to refuel the plane (a process that takes a long time and is also very noisy) and a series of unfortunate events begin, visibility is poor because it is early in the morning, it is raining, there is fog, that is to say poor visibility, and to top it all off the protagonist's wife decides to call him just at that moment, To make matters worse, the phone has sound, it doesn't vibrate, so the noise attracts the zombies, that noise, not the noise of the fuel truck or the fuel pump, but the noise of the phone, and I start with my logical reasoning. Wasn't it better to tell the wife "I'll be on an almost suicidal mission so never call me, wait for me to call you so that you don't put me in danger"? Wasn't it better to leave Korea the next day in daylight and when it wasn't raining, to see better what they were doing? I know that the situation or the mission was urgent (in inverted commas, because the mission itself is idiotic, looking for patient 0 makes no sense, much less when there are reports of immune people, it would be better to try to find the cure through these people) but if everyone died that morning, the plan would not be carried out, so you should always wait for the best moment.
Por otro lado tenemos la salida desde Corea del Sur ¡Vaya estupidez de escena! Es muy poco realista, como casi todo en la película, y puede ser que ustedes piensen "pero es una película de zombies, los zombies no son reales" bueno, dentro del género claro que tiene que ser lo más realista posible, incluso en el universo de Harry Potter donde hay magia, la historia guarda coherencia y realismo para el género al que pertenece. La escena de la evacuación es muy idiota, para empezar intentan ser sigilosos pero de todos modos van a cargar combustible en el avión (proceso que tarda bastante y además es muy ruidoso) y empieza una serie de eventos desafortunados, la visibilidad es poca porque es de madrugada, llueve, hay niebla, es decir poca visibilidad, y para colmo a la esposa del protagonista le da por llamarlo justo en ese preciso instante, para colmo el teléfono tiene sonido, no vibra, así que el ruido atrae a los zombies, ese ruido, no el del camión del combustible o el de la bomba del combustible, sino el de el teléfono y empiezo con mis razonamientos lógicos ¿No era mejor decirle a la esposa "Estaré en una misión casi suicida por tanto nunca me llames, espera a que sea yo quien te llame para que no me pongas en peligro"? ¿acaso no era mejor salir de Corea al día siguiente con luz diurna y cuando no lloviera, para ver mejor lo que hacían? Sé que la situación o la misión era apremiante (entre comillas, porque en sí la misión es idiota, buscar al paciente 0 no tiene sentido, mucho menos cuando hay reportes de personas inmunes, sería mejor intentar hallar la cura a través de estas personas) pero si todos morían esa madrugada igual el plan no se llevaría a cabo, por eso siempre se debe esperar el mejor momento.

To make a long story short let's say that the scientist in charge of the area found out from an intercepted communiqué that in India the military was fighting zombies, so he investigated the case and realised that it was real and that's why Israel built giant containment walls around its territory to prevent the infection. It sounds as stupid as it is, firstly, a scientist discovers this and doesn't report it to the other countries, which would in effect bring about almost the end of the world (which is in nobody's interest), secondly, if all this was happening in India, it would have gone viral, tourists or the locals themselves would have recorded it and uploaded it to the internet (as happened for example in The Walking dead universe) it could never be a secret, and lastly, how can you tell me that you literally wall up an entire country in just a few months when it would take decades?
Ahora hablemos de Israel, la trama más estúpida de toda la película. Para no extenderme tanto con esto digamos que el científico encargado de la zona se enteró gracias a un comunicado interceptado, que en la india los militares peleaban contra zombies, por tanto investigó el caso dándose cuenta de que era real y por eso Israel construyó muros de contención gigantes alrededor de su territorio para evitar la infección. Suena tan estúpido como es, en primer lugar, un científico descubre esto y no lo informa a los demás países, lo que ocasionaría en efecto casi el fin del mundo (cosa que a nadie le conviene) en segundo lugar, si en la India estaba pasando todo eso, ya le habría dado la vuelta al mundo, se habría hecho viral, turistas o los mismos locales lo habrían grabado y subido a internet (como pasó por ejemplo en el universo de The Walking dead) no podría ser un secreto jamás, y por último, ¿Cómo me dices que literalmente amurallas un país entero en solo unos meses cuando eso llevaría en caso tal décadas?

That's crazy.
Para colmo sabiendo que el ruido atrae a los muertos, se ponen a hacer una especie de concierto, atrayendo a hordas y hordas que terminan haciendo una torre, alcanzan el borde y se lanzan dentro. Aunque sean zombies... una caída así aplastaría el cráneo de cada uno de ellos, lo que los eliminaría, en caso de que cayeran de pie, sus piernas estaría rotas y no podrían correr, además, si de forma tan sencilla los zombiés podían escalar el muro, entonces no tenía sentido construirlo en primer lugar. Para colmo Jerry (nuestro protagonista) ve a un niño que no es atacado por los zombies y recuerda que en Corea un soldado que tenía una lesión en la pierna dijo que tampoco había sido atacado, es decir, los zombies lo ignoraban, y digo yo ¿eso no era fácil de descubrir al ver que los zombies no atacaban a los pacientes en los hospitales por ejemplo? Es una locura.

Por otra parte llegan a donde deben llegar demasiado fácil, y es que justo se estrellaron muy muy cerca del laboratorio al que debían ir.
To make matters worse, Jerry has to look for diseases to inject himself and prove his hypothesis that zombies do not attack sick people, the point is that according to what we had understood, zombies do not attack sick or crippled people (remember the military in South Korea), so why are they chasing Jerry's partner who is missing a hand? It makes no sense! Besides, when Jerry manages to get to the place where the vials of diseases are, he has no idea which one to inject himself with, O.M.G.! The key to the safe, and the list of diseases should have been given to him by the surviving scientists before Jerry went there, the intention was for him to take out and inject himself with strong but curable diseases, what if in the end he brought most of the vials with incurable diseases? The mission would be worthless!
Para colmo Jerry debe buscar enfermedades para inyectarse y probar su hipótesis de que los zombies no atacan enfermos, el punto es que según habíamos entendido, los zombies no atacan enfermos ni lisiados (recordemos el militar en Corea del sur) ¿entonces por qué persiguen a la compañera de Jerry a la que le falta una mano? ¡No tiene sentido! además cuando Jerry logra llegar al lugar donde están los frascos de las enfermedades, no tiene idea de cual inyectarse ¡OMG! La clave de la caja fuerte, y el listado de enfermedades tenían que habérselo dado los científicos sobrevivientes antes de que Jerry fuese allá, la intención era que sacara y se inyectara enfermedades fuertes pero curables, ¿Qué pasaba si al final se traía la mayoría de frascos con enfermedades incurables? ¡No valdría de nada la misión!
At the end they return to the safe zone (who knows how, because it is not explained) and it is seen that they are working on vaccines so that the zombies do not attack people and at the same time the soldiers (I assume they are already vaccinated) are massacring zombies to take back the world.
Al final vuelven a la zona segura (quien sabe como, porque no se explica) y se ve que están trabajando en vacunas para que los zombies no ataquen a la gente y a la vez los soldados (imagino que ya vacunados) van masacrando zombies para recuperar el mundo.

As I said the film is entertaining and although it has very good cinematographic aspects, I consider that one of the most important aspects (the story) is very poorly conceived and developed, the situations are just there to be, the film underestimates the viewer by placing impressive scenes without realism or context just to be impressive and that's it, it doesn't justify them.

En la película nunca se nos explica como funciona el virus, como actúa o como se originó, y esto es, claro está, para hacer todo más sencillo para el guionista, para darles un ejemplo de como llevar bien un virus zombie, les explicaré brevemente como por ejemplo se llevó en The Walking Dead (uno de los mejores trabajos del género) en la serie, si bien no se explica el origen del virus, si se nos explica como funciona, resulta que al ser aspirado por el individuo, este permanece dormido en el portador y solo se activa si el virus detecta la muerte en el cuerpo, momento en que el virus despierta y se apodera del cerebelo del individuo (la parte que controla las habilidades motoras y necesidades fisiológicas del cuerpo) haciendo que el cadáver se reanime y presente un hambre voraz, dado a que el virus activa el cerebelo con deficiencia, el cuerpo se mueve de forma torpe y errática, sin embargo, ya no razona la cantidad de fuerza empleada, y es por eso que los zombies poseen mucha más fuerza que una persona viva. Cuando se hiere la cabeza del zombie, se destruye el cerebelo, y sin la zona donde habita y se activa el virus, el mismo ya no puede "operar" ni maniobrar a su portador.

Jerry's wife might as well not be there and it doesn't affect the plot, Jerry could have been a widowed or single father and it didn't affect anything, that woman is only there to make the evacuation of South Korea go to hell.
Sabemos que en la vida real es imposible (al menos a la fecha) que un cuerpo sin vida se reanime, la serie lo presentó de una forma realista, además tiene un porque, los portadores presentan hambre voraz, por eso cazan y comen. En Guerra Mundial Z los zombies solo muerden por morder y listo, no hay un trasfondo, y si me hubiesen planteado al menos que el virus descendía de la rabia o de La enfermedad del desgaste crónico (CWD) como en Tren a Busan, quizá lo entendería, ya que son virus que pueden resultar agresivos en su portador, pero es que no explican absolutamente nada, ni de donde vino, ni como actúa, tampoco mantiene la coherencia sobre quien recibe el daño y quien no, la verdad la película es un desastre. La esposa de Jerry podría bien no estar y no afecta en nada a la trama, Jerry ha podido ser un padre viudo o soltero y no afectaba en nada, esa mujer solo está para que la evacuación de Corea del Sur se vaya a la mierda.

Anyway, as we say in Venezuela "le le di hasta con el tobo" (I even hit it with the bucket) that is to say, that I got angry with the film but honestly I didn't enjoy a film with so many flaws in its script, when I saw it the first time I found it entertaining and enjoyable, but as I watched it again I became more critical, and in turn I liked it less, to the point that I would not watch it again, unless you have no other activity to do haha 🤣.
En fin, como decimos en Venezuela "le di hasta con el tobo" es decir, que me ensañé con la película pero es que honestamente se disfruta poco una película con tantas fallas en su guion, cuando la vi la primera vez me resultó entretenida y disfrutable, pero a medida que volvía a verla me ponía más critica, y a su vez mes gustaba menos, al punto de que no la volvería a ver de nuevo, a menos que no tengan ninguna otra actividad que hacer haha 🤣
