One of the things I most appreciate about filmmaker Tim Burton's work is the fact that he managed, throughout his career, to create his own cinematic identity. In short, it is practically impossible (at least for those who really like cinema) to watch any of his movies and not recognize his style in what was done because it is a visual (and narrative) aesthetic that is very characteristic of what he manages to do with a high level of efficiency. Perhaps this is one of the most peculiar films of his career and also one of the most creative so far.

Among his competent cinematographic CV, Burton has a supernatural example, which despite having a very peculiar approach (by trying to mix the relatively gothic atmosphere with the comic aspect of a family drama), is very satisfying. In the plot of Beetlejuice, a couple (Adam and Barbara) end up in a car accident, but are unable to survive. They end up becoming ghosts in search of their eternal place, but for that to happen, they need to show that they can actually be quite horrifying ghosts.

However, they are ineffective ghosts when it comes to scaring people, and they need to do this to have the right to go to the next “spiritual plane”. The arrival of a new family in the house where they are living becomes a problem, so the ghosts have to enlist unexpected help: Lydia, the daughter of the couple of residents, because she can see them and talk to them (so she becomes the unexpected main link with this desperate couple who need help as soon as possible), but that doesn't help. It’s enough and they end up looking for “extra” help.

Enter the character Beetlejuice, who knows the supernatural “underworld” like no one else, but nothing that was to come could be predicted by anyone, because everything gets out of control and new problems are created. The script is not a typical or traditional comedy, it is something darker and to a certain extent, very reflective if other aspects are considered. I really like this type of comedy and the supernatural aspect was a special touch. Thinking “outside the box” is one of Burton's specialties, and here, he makes this very transparent to the entire audience.

Released in 1988, directed by Tim Burton (this being one of his most interesting movies throughout his career), written by Michael McDowell, Larry Wilson and Warren Skaare, Beetlejuice has a singular mark of quality, both in terms of narrative and in technical terms (because the practical effects are great). In the cast, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder deliver very entertaining performances (mainly within this specific type of comedy, which treats its narrative with a different approach).

Concurso CineTV: “Bitelchús”, un tipo inusual de película sobrenatural.

Una de las cosas que más aprecio del trabajo del cineasta Tim Burton es el hecho de que logró, a lo largo de su carrera, crear su propia identidad cinematográfica. En definitiva, es prácticamente imposible (al menos para quienes realmente gustan del cine) ver alguna de sus películas y no reconocer su estilo en lo hecho porque es una estética visual (y narrativa) muy característica de lo que maneja de hacer con un alto nivel de eficiencia. Quizás esta sea una de las películas más peculiares de su carrera y también una de las más creativas hasta el momento.

Entre su competente currículum cinematográfico, Burton tiene un ejemplo sobrenatural, que a pesar de tener un enfoque muy peculiar (al intentar mezclar la atmósfera relativamente gótica con el aspecto cómico de un drama familiar), resulta muy satisfactorio. En la trama de Bitelchús, una pareja (Adam y Barbara) acaba en un accidente automovilístico, pero no pueden sobrevivir. Terminan convirtiéndose en fantasmas en busca de su lugar eterno, pero para que eso suceda, necesitan demostrar que en realidad pueden ser fantasmas bastante horribles.

Sin embargo, son fantasmas ineficaces cuando se trata de asustar a la gente, y necesitan hacerlo para tener derecho a pasar al siguiente "plano espiritual". La llegada de una nueva familia a la casa donde viven se convierte en un problema, por lo que los fantasmas tienen que conseguir una ayuda inesperada: Lydia, la hija de la pareja de residentes, porque puede verlos y hablar con ellos (así se convierte en el inesperado vínculo principal con esta pareja desesperada que necesita ayuda lo antes posible), pero eso no No ayuda. Es suficiente y terminan buscando ayuda “extra”.

Entra el personaje Bitelchús, quien conoce como nadie el “inframundo” sobrenatural, pero nada de lo que estaba por venir podría ser predicho por nadie, porque todo se sale de control y se crean nuevos problemas. El guión no es una comedia típica o tradicional, es algo más oscuro y en cierta medida, muy reflexivo si se consideran otros aspectos. Me gusta mucho este tipo de comedia y el aspecto sobrenatural fue un toque especial. Pensar “fuera de lo común” es una de las especialidades de Burton, y aquí lo hace muy transparente para toda la audiencia.

Concurso CineTV: “Os Fantasmas se Divertem”, um tipo incomum de filme sobrenatural.

Uma das coisas que eu mais aprecio no trabalho do cineasta Tim Burton é o fato dele ter conseguido, ao longo de sua carreira, criar à sua própria identidade cinematográfica. Em síntese, é praticamente impossível (ao menos para quem realmente gosta de cinema) assistir a algum filme dele e não reconhecer o seu estilo dentro do que foi feito porque se trata de uma estética visual (e narrativa) muito característica do que ele consegue fazer com um alto nível de eficiência. Talvez esse seja um dos filmes mais peculiares da carreira dele e também, um dos mais criativos até aqui.

Em meio ao seu competente currículo cinematográfico, Burton tem um exemplar sobrenatural, que apesar de ter uma abordagem muito peculiar (por tentar misturar o clima relativamente gótico em meio ao aspecto cômico de um drama familiar), é muito satisfatório. Na trama de Os Fantasmas Se Divertem, um casal (Adam e Barbara) acaba sofrendo um acidente de carro, mas não consegue sobreviver. Eles acabam se tornando em fantasmas na busca por seu lugar eterno, mas para isso acontecer, eles precisam mostrar que podem ser fantasmas realmente bastante horripilantes.

No entanto, eles são fantasmas ineficientes quando se trata sobre assustar pessoas, e eles precisam fazer isso para ter o direito de irem para o próximo “plano espiritual”. A chegada de uma nova família na casa onde eles estão vivendo se torna um problema, então, os fantasmas precisam contar uma ajuda inesperada: Lydia, a filha do casal de moradores, porque ela consegue vê-los e falar com eles (sendo assim, ela se torna o inesperado elo principal com esse desesperado casal que precisa de ajuda o quanto antes), mas isso não é o suficiente e eles acabam buscando por uma ajuda “extra”.

Entra em cena o personagem Beetlejuice, que conhece o “submundo” sobrenatural como ninguém, mas nada do que estava por vir poderia ser previsto por ninguém, porque tudo sai do controle e novos problemas são criados. O roteiro não é uma comédia típica ou tradicional, é algo mais sombrio e em até certo ponto, muito reflexivo se outros aspectos forem considerados. Eu gosto bastante desse tipo de comédia e o aspecto sobrenatural foi um toque especial diferente. Pensar “fora da caixa” é uma das especialidades do Burton, e aqui, ele deixa isso muito transparente para todo público

This is where I decide to tell you something about this feature film that I am watching, and for those who do not yet know it to know about it, about this story, which in some way resembles what we are currently experiencing in my country Venezuela, and why No, in other countries.

Amigos de Movie, una vez más nos encontramos por aquí, haciendo lo que más nos gusta que es compartir nuestras reseñas de esas películas o series que nos entretiene, con la que a veces nos identificamos, con sus historias, personajes, acciones, sucesos, en fin, la cual sin duda vale la pena hablar de ellas,dar nuestras opiniones y por supuesto leer la de ustedes.

Cómo bien saben algunos de los que me leen, estos días me encuentro de reposo médico, tengo un tiempo de ocio libre por decirlo de alguna manera, lo que me lleva a pasar mis momentos viendo algo de televisión, para entreternerme un poco.

Es aquí dónde decido contarles algo, sobre este largometraje que estoy viendo, y que para los que aún no lo conocen sepan de ella, de está historia, que de alguna forma se asemeja a lo que estamos viviendo actualmente en mi país Venezuela, y porque no, en otros países.

Fuerza, coraje, rebeldía, drama, esto y mucho más es lo que veremos en estos personajes, en esta historia; una lucha por la independencia, por su libertad, ese valor y empeño en querer vivir en un mundo libre, sin tantas limitaciones o diferencias de raza, ideas, sangre y estatus social.

La Pola was a great brave woman, a Colombian heroine, who participated in political activities to free the people from the Spanish, playing a great role in the independence of Colombia; and in this soap opera we will see this warrior woman, fight to the end, with all those men willing to do anything, she didn't care about anything, she only thought about saving her people and liberating them, and in this way finally being with her loved one.

La Pola fue una gran mujer valiente, una heroína colombiana, la cuál participó en actividades políticas para liberar al pueblo de los españoles, formando un gran papel en la independencia de Colombia; y en esta teleserie veremos a esta mujer guerrera, luchar hasta el final, con todos esos hombre dispuesta a todo, a ella no le importaba nada, sólo pensaba en salvar a su pueblo y liberarlo, y de  esta forma estar finalmente con su amado.

A moving story, and when I say that it resembles what we are experiencing in the present, it is because it is like that, a repressed people, desirous of freedom, a better quality of life, a better government, laws that are fulfilled; On the other hand, the injustices, the political prisoners, the heroes who come out, dedicate themselves to searching for the beloved freedom, all this and more is what we will see in this feature film, full of action, drama, and historical events. It's a pretty long story, this soap opera came out in 2010 on the Colombian channel, right now I'm watching it with my mom again, I remember seeing it before but not complete, now I'm watching it to remember it, and well, as I said, I have time leisure.😁

Una historia conmovedora, y cuando digo que se asemeja a lo que estamos viviendo en el presente, es porque es así, un pueblo reprimido, deseoso de libertad, de una mejor calidad de vida, de un mejor gobierno, de leyes que se cumplan; por otra parte las injusticias, los presos políticos, los héroes que salen, se abocan a buscar la amada libertad, todo esto y más es lo que veremos en este largometraje, lleno de acción, drama, hechos históricos.

Es una historia bastante larga, está teleserie salió en el 2010 por el canal colombiano, ahorita yo la estoy viendo con mi mamá de nuevo, yo recuerdo haberlo visto antes pero no completa, ahora la estoy mirando para recordarla, y bueno cómo dije tengo tiempo de ocio.😁

New adaptation of Scott Turow's successful novel, this time in miniseries format. I saw the first adaptation of this novel many years ago, it was a movie starring Harrinson Ford, it was a VHS copy that I rented at a video store. The movie is very good, at least that's the fleeting memory I have of it. I think I saw it again one Sunday afternoon when it was shown on a free-to-air TV channel.

Because of the good memory I had of Pakula's film, I had good expectations for this new adaptation. Even though I have yet to see the final result, I have decided to recommend it. It is a strange feeling, the miniseries has an excellent technical workmanship, a first class cast, the quality and the great work done, but at the same time I feel that it lacks more impact.

This is something that happens to me a lot with Davi E. Kelly, the showrunner. This man was consecrated in American television with his biggest hit, Ally MC Beal, I was a fan of that series full of very funny moments, but it is in that kind of stories where I think Kelly excels, but when he embarks on productions where the tone is more formal, he has never quite hooked me. He's a great story creator, I'm not saying the opposite, he knows how to capture the attention and keep the viewer attentive to a series, but many times he doesn't quite get it right with the development and the end of what he's telling.

ueva adaptación de la exitosa novela de Scott Turow, esta vez en formato miniserie. La primera adaptación de esta novela la vi hace muchos años, era una película protagonizada por Harrinson Ford, era una copia en VHS que alquilé en un videoclub. La película es muy buena, al menos ese es el recuerdo fugaz que tengo de ella. Creo que la volví a ver un domingo por la tarde cuando la emitieron en un canal de televisión en abierto.

Debido al buen recuerdo que tenía de la película de Pakula, tenía buenas expectativas para esta nueva adaptación. Aunque me falta ver la reslucion , he decidido recomendarla. Es una sensación extraña, la miniserie tiene una excelente factura técnica, un reparto de primera, la calidad y el gran trabajo realizado, pero al mismo tiempo siento que le falta más impacto.

Esto es algo que me pasa mucho con Davi E. Kelly, el showrunner. Este hombre se consagró en la televisión americana con su mayor éxito, Ally MC Beal, yo era fan de esa serie llena de momentos muy divertidos, pero es en ese tipo de historias donde creo que Kelly destaca, pero cuando se embarca en producciones donde el tono es más formal, nunca me ha enganchado del todo. Es un gran creador de historias, no digo lo contrario, sabe captar la atención y mantener al espectador atento a una serie, pero muchas veces no acaba de acertar con el desarrollo y el final de lo que está contando.

Now, it is his turn to be in the dock, being the main suspect of a co-worker, another prosecutor. This is the moment that his adversaries within the system take advantage of to sink him, because he is the main suspect, although he must be presumed innocent until the evidence proves otherwise.

Hasta ahora ha funcionado el misterio, la siembra de dudas en el espectador sobre la culpabilidad o inocencia de Rusty Sabich. Por momentos creemos y confiamos en él, en que dice la verdad, pero a través de flashbacks y algunas reacciones, podemos dudar de lo que realmente ocurrió. Sabich puede dar la impresión de ser un hombre ejemplar, pero sabemos que ha mentido en más de una ocasión a su mujer, a sus amigos, traicionando a su familia, por lo que no es tan transparente como creemos.

Rusty Sabich es fiscal, conoce todos los trucos que se utilizan en los tribunales, ha llevado a mucha gente a la cárcel, también es arrogante, por algo se ha ganado la enemistad de algunos de sus colegas. Ahora, le toca estar en el banquillo de los acusados, siendo el principal sospechoso de un compañero de trabajo, otro fiscal. Es el momento que aprovechan sus adversarios dentro del sistema para hundirle, porque es el principal sospechoso, aunque se le debe presumir inocente hasta que las pruebas demuestren lo contrario.

In a small, idyllic Midwestern town lives a seemingly ordinary young man named Gilbert Grape. After his father's death, he becomes solely responsible for the family home, and now needs to take care of two eccentric sisters, a mentally disabled brother and a morbidly obese mother. In the midst of so many premature responsibilities, Grape still needs to find a way to be happy (but to do that he needs to make his own choices). Everything becomes even more urgent for him when a young outsider arrives in the city, bringing new possibilities.

Directed by Lasse Hallström and written by Peter Hedges, the movie is a very moving family drama, which despite its more inert moments, has a lot of strength due to its multifunctional context that is very well worked within its own set of narratives. Hedges portrays the difficult daily life of a family in the midst of dramatic chaos of great proportions, while Hallström sees the best ways to portray on screen the power of this narrative (which may even be something “banal” for some, but which has a lot of significance for everyone the dilemmas he presents here).

Into Film

There is no doubt (at least for me) that this is the most moving movie of Johnny Depp's career. As the young Gilbert Grape, he delivers a relatively restrained performance, but which conveys a lot of truth in his looks and is always very simple in his actions (demonstrating that it is not always necessary to deliver desperate performances to show one's own desperation). In addition to Depp, the cast also includes Leonardo DiCraprio (who at a very young age already demonstrated that he was a good actor) and Juliett Lewis (an actress that I personally really like). A quality trio.

News

Technically, it is a movie with a simple production that at times even resembles something more trivial. However, at no point does this take away from its potential, much less the quality of the final result (which is something quite exciting). An invitation to the most different types of reflections is made through this movie, it just takes a more immersive look at what is being told. Once this is done, it is impossible not to create bonds of empathy with this movie, which goes to great lengths to create emblematic moments even though it has simplicity in essence.

Cannelton HiLife

What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a movie that talks about growing up long before your time, having to take on some previously unimaginable responsibilities. The development of the script here is, in fact, a little monotonous and even tiring at times, but all of this reflects on the very rhythm of life imposed on that small town, where the destiny of all the good characters that reside there lies. In short, it is a very delicate project, which brings together the concept of family from different perspectives in the midst of a storm that is portrayed by a cast full of chemistry.

Concurso CineTV: “¿A quién ama Gilbert Grape?”, el mejor drama de la carrera de Johnny Depp (hasta ahora).

En una pequeña e idílica ciudad del Medio Oeste vive un joven aparentemente normal llamado Gilbert Grape. Después de la muerte de su padre, se convierte en el único responsable del hogar familiar y ahora necesita cuidar de dos hermanas excéntricas, un hermano con discapacidad mental y una madre con obesidad mórbida. En medio de tantas responsabilidades prematuras, Grape todavía necesita encontrar una manera de ser feliz (pero para ello necesita tomar sus propias decisiones). Todo se vuelve aún más urgente para él cuando un joven forastero llega a la ciudad trayendo nuevas posibilidades.

Dirigida por Lasse Hallström y escrita por Peter Hedges, la película es un drama familiar muy conmovedor, que a pesar de sus momentos más inertes, tiene mucha fuerza por su contexto multifuncional muy bien trabajado dentro de su propio conjunto de narrativas. Hedges retrata la difícil vida cotidiana de una familia en medio de un caos dramático de grandes proporciones, mientras Hallström ve las mejores maneras de retratar en pantalla el poder de esta narrativa (que puede resultar incluso algo “banal” para algunos, pero que tiene un tienen mucha importancia para todos los dilemas que aquí presenta).

No hay duda (al menos para mí) de que esta es la película más conmovedora de la carrera de Johnny Depp. Como el joven Gilbert Grape, ofrece una actuación relativamente comedida, pero que transmite mucha verdad en su apariencia y siempre es muy simple en sus acciones (lo que demuestra que no siempre es necesario realizar actuaciones desesperadas para mostrar la propia desesperación). Además de Depp, en el reparto también están Leonardo DiCraprio (que desde muy pequeño ya demostró que era un buen actor) y Juliett Lewis (una actriz que personalmente me gusta mucho). Un trío de calidad.

Técnicamente es una película con una producción sencilla que por momentos incluso parece algo más trivial. Sin embargo, esto en ningún momento le resta potencial y mucho menos la calidad del resultado final (que es algo bastante ilusionante). A través de esta película se hace una invitación a los más diversos tipos de reflexiones, sólo se necesita una mirada más inmersiva en lo que se cuenta. Una vez hecho esto, es imposible no crear vínculos de empatía con esta película, que se esfuerza por crear momentos emblemáticos aunque tenga sencillez en esencia.

¿A quién ama Gilbert Grape? es una película que habla de crecer mucho antes de tiempo y de tener que asumir algunas responsabilidades antes inimaginables. El desarrollo del guión es aquí, de hecho, un poco monótono e incluso agotador por momentos, pero todo ello refleja el propio ritmo de vida impuesto en ese pequeño pueblo, donde reside el destino de todos los buenos personajes que allí residen. En definitiva, es un proyecto muy delicado, que reúne el concepto de familia desde diferentes perspectivas en medio de una tormenta que es retratado por un elenco lleno de química.

Em uma pequena e idílica cidade do meio-oeste vive um jovem aparentemente comum, chamado Gilbert Grape. Após a morte do pai, ele se torna o único responsável pela casa da família, e agora precisa cuidar de duas irmãs excêntricas, um irmão com deficiência mental e uma mãe em processo de obesidade mórbida. No meio de tantas responsabilidades prematuras, Grape ainda precisa encontrar um jeito de ser feliz (mas para isso ele precisa fazer suas próprias escolhas). Tudo se torna ainda mais urgente para ele quando uma jovem forasteira chega à cidade, trazendo novas possibilidades.

Não há dúvidas (ao menos para mim) que este é o filme mais comovente da carreira de Johnny Depp. Na pele do jovem Gilbert Grape, ele entrega uma atuação relativamente contida, mas que transmite muita verdade nos seus olhares e é sempre muito singelo em suas ações (demonstrando que nem sempre é preciso entregar atuações desesperadas para transparecer o próprio desespero). Além de Depp, o elenco também com Leonardo DiCraprio (que ainda muito jovem já demonstrava ser um bom ator) e Juliett Lewis (uma atriz que eu particularmente gosto muito). Um trio de qualidade.

Tecnicamente, é um filme de produção simples que em alguns momentos até lembra algo mais trivial. No entanto, em nenhum momento isso tira o peso do seu potencial, e muito menos à qualidade do resultado final (que é algo bastante emocionante). Um convite aos mais diferentes tipos de reflexões é feito através deste filme, basta apenas que haja um olhar mais imersivo para o que está sendo contado. Uma vez que isso é feito, é impossível não criar lações de empatia com este filme, que não mede esforços para criar momentos emblemáticos ainda que tenha simplicidade na essência.

Gilbert Grape: Aprendiz de Sonhador é um filme que fala sobre crescer muito antes do seu tempo, tendo que assumir algumas responsabilidades até então inimagináveis. O desenvolvimento do roteiro aqui é, de fato, um pouco monótono e até cansativo algumas vezes, mas tudo isso reflete no próprio ritmo de vida imposto aquela cidadezinha, onde reside o destino de todos os bons personagens que residem nela. Em síntese, é um projeto bastante delicado, que aglutina o conceito de família sobre diversas óticas em meio à uma tempestade que é retratado por um elenco repleto de química.

Fancy Dance would be filmmaker Erica Tremblay's first fiction film. She has experience in some TV series and short documentaries of her own, but with this film she takes a big step forward. I love to see debut features, for me it's fascinating to see proposals from diverse filmmakers. In this case, the director stays true to a recurring theme, capturing the realities of Native Americans, and she carries it in her roots, in her blood, being of Native American origin.

The work may have parts that are not solid enough to make an impact. In the transition of the story I had the feeling that many flanks were opened, it tries to cover a lot and some elements can divert attention from the central focus. What cannot be denied is that it is a film that seeks to sensitize, without falling into an exaggerated melodrama, that is what I liked a lot.

Fancy Dance sería la primera película de ficción de la cineasta Erica Tremblay. Ella tiene experiencia en algunas series de televisión y cortos documentales propios, pero con esta película da un gran paso adelante. Me encanta ver óperas primas, para mí es fascinante ver propuestas de cineastas diversos. En este caso, la directora se mantiene fiel a un tema recurrente, plasmar las realidades de los nativos americanos, y lo lleva en sus raíces, en su sangre, al ser de origen nativo americano.

La obra puede tiene partes que no son lo suficientemente sólidas como para impactar. En la transición de la historia tuve la sensación de que se abrían muchos flancos, intenta abarcar mucho y algunos elementos pueden desviar la atención del foco central. Lo que no se puede negar es que es una película que busca sensibilizar, sin caer en un melodrama exagerado, eso es lo que me gustó mucho.

The hard life in the American reservations, the indifferent look of the authorities in the face of the disappearance of Native American women, the inequality and injustice of a bureaucratic system that pretends to be perfect, but only causes greater havoc in people's lives. Laws that pretend to be fair, but in the end only separate families, where the weak are the ones who will always bear the brunt.

The hypocrisy of those who take over a territory and still pretend to be the good guys. This is what is represented by the character of Nancy, a white woman ignorant of the old traditions of a people, who believes that what she is doing is for the good of Roki. It is the hypocrisy of a whole society that believes itself to be the strongest and that, directly or indirectly, seems to want to erase the traditions passed down for several generations. All this is magnificently expressed in a scene in which Roki explains to him that the Powwow is more than a dance, it is a connection.

The presence of a state that is governed by laws that seem to apply more severely when skin color or ethnicity is not of the victors. There are many nuances to the story that would have worked better if they had chosen to make it in miniseries format.

I could sense a restrained anger. Maybe the filmmaker softens some things so as not to make a harsher critique. Maybe it's not the time, he needs financing. If he continues with his career and gets more success, there will be time for him to do something with more impact.

La dura vida en las reservas americanas, la mirada indiferente de las autoridades ante la desaparición de mujeres nativas americanas, la desigualdad y la injusticia de un sistema burocrático que pretende ser perfecto, pero que sólo causa mayores estragos en la vida de las personas. Leyes que pretenden ser justas, pero que al final sólo separan familias, donde los débiles son los que siempre llevarán la peor parte.

La hipocresía de quienes se apropian de un territorio y siguen pretendiendo ser los buenos. Es lo que representa el personaje de Nancy, una mujer blanca ignorante de las viejas tradiciones de un pueblo, que cree que lo que hace es por el bien de Roki. Es la hipocresía de toda una sociedad que se cree la más fuerte y que, de forma directa o indirecta, parece querer borrar las tradiciones transmitidas durante varias generaciones. Todo esto queda magníficamente expresado en una escena en la que Roki le explica que el Powwow es más que un baile, es una conexión.

La presencia de un Estado que se rige por leyes que parecen aplicarse con mayor severidad cuando el color de la piel o la etnia no es de los vencedores. Hay muchos matices en la historia que habrían funcionado mejor si hubiesen elegido hacerla en formato miniserie.

Pude percibir una rabia contenida. Quizá el cineasta suaviza algunas cosas para no hacer una crítica más dura. Quizá no es el momento, necesita financiarse. Si continúa con su carrera y consigue más éxito, ya habrá tiempo para que haga algo con más repercusión.

It tells the story of the Emperor of France during a political period in which he was married to his beloved Josephine. The whole movie is centered on the love affair he had with his wife.

I saw Napoleon several months ago and I have been slow to review it because I don't want to make a mistake since I don't know the story, so I will focus on giving the details of what I thought of the movie.

Hace varios meses vi a Napoleón y me he tardado en hacer la reseña porque no quiero equivocarme en vista de que no conozco la historia, por lo tanto, me centraré en dar los detalles de lo que me pareció la película.

I had the expectation of seeing the human and sensitive side of this important military man, but I must say from the beginning that I was disappointed, they showed a shy Napoleon, insecure in matters of love and I do not think that reality was like that, on the contrary, but as I do not have the certainty of the history books it is my personal appreciation.

They show a Napoleon who loved his wife Josephine to the point of being weak in character and tolerating an infidelity, he did not mind being the mockery of all the people who knew him, of his friends and enemies, as long as he remained by Josephine's side, that is how great was the love shown in the movie.

I do not doubt that there are people who for love make this moral sacrifice and decide to forgive an infidelity, but what I do not think is true is that a man of such a strong character would allow that, especially at the time we are talking about the 17th century.

However, Napoleon wanted the welfare of his nation and that is why he needed to have a son, an heir to the throne, a successor and this was what his wife could not give him and for this reason she was taken to court and not for the infidelities ending in divorce despite the love that Napoleon felt for her and she for him.

In all the movies that have to do with kings and past times it was known that both men and women had extramarital affairs to Josephine is not criticized the fact that she had lovers, because to some extent it was justified, as they spent many months away from each other because Napoleon had to travel on horseback to other continents away many times from home then for this she was not criticized, but that he could not give a son to Napoleon Bonaparte.

Josephine was a widow and mother of 2 children, reason why for a long time Napoleon thought he was sterile, what happened is that Josephine was already a woman of more than 40 years and it was likely that so much stress could not conceive, but at the end of the film show that Napoleon was able to conceive a child with one of his mistresses which broke Josephine's heart and was the main cause of their marital separation, but their intimate relationship continued long after that.

During the film I was disgruntled because at times the spouses treated each other poorly. Both Napoleon and Josefina said hurtful things to each other, they had a toxic relationship, they definitely loved and hated each other at the same time.

Argumento

Tenía la expectativa de ver el lado humano y sensible de este militar importante, pero debo decir desde un principio que me sentí decepcionada mostraron a un Napoleón tímido, inseguro en cuestiones del amor y no creo que la realidad haya sido así, al contrario, pero cómo no tengo la certeza de los libros de historia es mi apreciación personal.

Muestran a un Napoleón que amaba a su esposa Josefina hasta el punto de ser débil de carácter y tolerar una infidelidad no le importó ser la burla de todas las personas que lo conocían, de sus amigos y enemigos, contal de seguir al lado de Josefina así de grande era el amor que mostraron en la película.

No dudo que existan personas que por amor hagan este sacrificio moral y decidan perdonar una infidelidad, pero lo que no creo que sea cierto es que un hombre de un carácter tan fuerte permita eso, sobre todo en la época en que estamos hablando del siglo 17.

Sin embargo, Napoleón lo más que quería era el bienestar para su nación por eso necesitaba tener un hijo, un heredero al trono, un sucesor y esto era lo que no le podía dar su esposa por esta razón fue llevada a juicio y no por las infidelidades terminando en divorcio a pesar del amor que sentía Napoleón por ella y ella por él.

En todas las películas que tienen que ver con reyes y épocas pasadas se conocía que tanto los hombres como las mujeres tenían relaciones extramaritales a Josefina no se le critica el hecho que tuviera amantes, pues en cierta medida estaba justificada, ya que pasaban muchos meses alejados uno del otro porque Napoleón tenía que viajar en caballo a otros continentes alejándose muchas veces de su hogar entonces por esto no se le criticaba, sino que no haya podido darle un hijo a Napoleón Bonaparte.

Josefina era viuda y madre de 2 hijos razón por la que por mucho tiempo Napoleón pensó que él era estéril, lo que sucedía es que Josefina ya era una mujer de más de 40 años y era probable que de tanto estrés no pudiera concebir, pero al final de la película muestran que Napoleón pudo concebir un hijo con una de sus amantes lo que le rompió el corazón a Josefina y fuera la causa principal de su separación matrimonial, pero su relación íntima continuó mucho después de eso.

Durante la película me sentí contrariada porque a veces se trataban mal los cónyuges. Tanto Napoleón como Josefina se decían cosas hirientes, tenían una relación tóxica, definitivamente se amaban y se odiaban a la vez.

Opinion

A person who does not know the focus of the movie beforehand might be disappointed from the beginning, as it is not about Napoleon's life in general, it is not his biography, neither war issues nor strategies are touched with the exception of some scenes I mention later, it is about his love affair which was not that exciting either.

I was disappointed to see that great character in history turned into an insecure, weak and spineless man. In that sense, I didn't like the movie, I don't think it truly was. It is most likely based on pure fiction; I also found it a bit boring and slow.

Of the few things that I can rescue is one of the scenes that I liked the most: the one of his coronation as emperor, where the costumes were beautiful as it usually happens in these protocol acts.

The best of all the scenes, my favorite, was the battle of Waterloo. They showed how they thought about war, what strategy he used and the study he made of nature, which led him to have great victories.

The performances of the main characters, Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon and Vanessa Kirby as Josephine, convey a lot of feelings. I think they were perfect for the characters.

Opinión

Una persona que no sabe el enfoque de la película de antemano puede que se sienta decepcionado desde el inicio, ya que no trata sobre la vida de Napoleón en general, no es su biografía, ni se tocan los asuntos de guerra ni estrategias con la excepción de algunas escenas que menciono luego, es sobre su relación amorosa que tampoco fue tan emocionante.

Me sentí desilusionada de ver a ese gran personaje de la historia convertido en un hombre inseguro, débil y falto de carácter. En ese sentido, no me gustó la película, no creo que verdaderamente haya sido así. Lo más seguro es que esté basada en pura ficción; también me pareció un poco aburrida y lenta.

De las pocas cosas que puedo rescatar es una de las escenas que más me gustó: la de su coronación como emperador, donde el vestuario fue hermoso como suele ocurrir en estos actos protocolares.

La mejor de todas las escenas, mi favorita, fue la de la batalla de Waterloo. Mostraron cómo pensaban en la guerra, cuál estrategia utilizaba y el estudio que realizaba de la naturaleza, lo que lo llevó a tener grandes victorias.

Las actuaciones de los protagonistas, Joaquín Phoenix como Napoleón y Vanessa Kirby como Josefina, transmiten muchos sentimientos. Considero que eran perfectos para los personajes.

¡Hola amigos! Hoy les traigo la reseña del otro spin off de The Walking Dead que estaba mirando y termine hace poco. En esta ocasión centrado en un personaje tan emblemático como lo es Daryl Dixon.

Hello friends! Today I bring you the review of the other spin off of The Walking Dead that I was watching and finished recently. This time focused on such an emblematic character as Daryl Dixon.

Daryl continúa su aventura de descubrir mundo y en esta entrega se encuentra nada más ni nada menos que en Francia, pero él no sabe muy bien cómo llegó ahí y, lo más importante, no sabe cómo volver a Estados Unidos a reencontrarse con su gente. En su camino por descubrir una vía de escape que lo lleve hacia su destino se termina involucrando con una mujer que necesita ayuda para trasladar a un niño a otra ciudad de Francia pasando el epicentro del inicio del apocalipsis zombie. Así que ahora se ve en la disyuntiva de ayudar a estas personas alejándose cada vez más de su tierra natal. 

Daryl continues his adventure of discovering the world and in this installment he finds himself in France, but he doesn't quite know how he got there and, more importantly, he doesn't know how to get back to the United States to meet his people. On his way to discover an escape route that will lead him to his destiny, he ends up getting involved with a woman who needs help to move a child to another city in France, passing the epicenter of the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. So now he is faced with the dilemma of helping these people by moving farther and farther away from his homeland.

El personaje de Daryl es uno de mis favoritos de la serie, uno aprende a tomarle cariño a este taciturno y serio individuo. Algo que destacó de él es que siempre fue fiel a sus convicciones y a él mismo, tuvo su etapa de evolución y crecimiento y creo que se merecía tener su papel protagónico, más allá de que si lo tuvo en la serie principal también.

Daryl's character is one of my favorites of the series, one learns to get fond of this taciturn and serious individual. Something that stood out about him is that he was always true to his convictions and to himself, he had his stage of evolution and growth and I think he deserved to have his leading role, beyond the fact that he had it in the main series as well.

Con respecto a la serie, debo decir que estoy sorprendida para bien. No sé qué esperaba, pero estuvo buena en mi opinión. Al principio me enganché con las primeras tomas y estaba muy intrigada por saber cómo había terminado en Francia, quiero decir, termino en otro continente. Luego, se me hizo extraño la trama religiosa con las monjas y el niño elegido, el mesías. Sentí que estaban divagando un poco, pero me seguía cautivando la historia por lo que continúe viéndola.

Regarding the series, I must say that I am surprised for the better. I don't know what I expected, but it was good in my opinion. At first I was hooked with the first shots and was very intrigued to know how it ended up in France, I mean, it ended up in another continent. Then I got weirded out by the religious plot with the nuns and the chosen child, the messiah. I felt like they were digressing a bit, but I was still captivated by the story so I continued to watch it.

Me gustó mucho ver el resumen de cómo fue el apocalipsis zombie en Francia en sus inicios. Me di cuenta que me llama mucho la atención ver toda esta construcción de cómo sucedieron los hechos en un principio. Aunque seguimos con la duda de qué rayos paso para que se diera todo esto de los muertos vivientes, pero creo que eso nunca lo vamos a saber.

I really enjoyed seeing the summary of what the zombie apocalypse in France was like in the beginning. I realized that I am very curious to see all this construction of how the events happened in the beginning. Although we are still wondering what the heck happened to make all this undead stuff happen, but I don't think we will ever know.

Me pareció una trama muy interesante, aunque los villanos siguen dejando mucho que desear. Lo que sí me gustó fueron estos nuevos zombies mutados, aunque tampoco se explica este hecho. Me hubiera gustado conocer más de los experimentos realizados en ellos por Genet, que les inyectaban, cómo los convertían en súper monstruos y cuál es el motivo de esto, ¿para qué quieres hacer más invencible a algo que podría matarte fácilmente? Nunca centrarse en buscar una cura jaja, todo es destrucción y muerte, pero debo admitir que si me aterraban un poco estos zombies mejorados.

I found the plot very interesting, although the villains still leave a lot to be desired. What I did like were these new mutated zombies, although this fact is not explained either. I would have liked to know more about the experiments done on them by Genet, what they injected them with, how they turned them into super monsters and what is the reason for this, why do you want to make something that could easily kill you more invincible? Never focus on finding a cure haha, it's all destruction and death, but I must admit that I was a bit terrified of these enhanced zombies.

Al final quedé en una disyuntiva porque me gustó la relación que formó Daryl con Isabelle y Laurent, pero también quiero que regrese a casa con los suyos y ver ese reencuentro entre hermanos con Rick. Y ese final con cierto personaje apareciendo para buscarlo, ah mis feelings. 

In the end I was left in a dilemma because I liked the relationship Daryl formed with Isabelle and Laurent, but I also want him to go back home to his own and see that reunion between brothers with Rick. And that ending with a certain character showing up to find him, ah my feelings.

En definitiva, me pareció una muy buena primera temporada, tiene sus detalles y algunos sucesos sin sentido, pero fue un buen inicio. Quedé muy ansiosa por la próxima temporada, espero que sea mucho mejor que esta, sin dudas allí estaré para verla. Por lo pronto, voy a dejar de agobiarlos con The Walking Dead hasta nuevo aviso.

In short, I thought it was a very good first season, it has its details and some senseless events, but it was a good start. I was very anxious for the next season, I hope it will be much better than this one, I will definitely be there to see it. For now, I'm going to stop burdening you with The Walking Dead until further notice.
