Smooth Production Process
The filming process of Knox Goes Away took place without delay or controversies. The movie was film entirely in Los Angeles, CA, from October to December 2022. Despite the challenges that can occur during a filming of a movie and especially in the case of Knox Goes Away that include a high profile cast, it doesn’t affect the process of the production, successfully completing it and delivering the movie at scheduled. Also Keaton’s as a lead actor and director and the performance of the cast stand out as a key aspect of this cinematic project.
The movie Knox Goes Away has a particular topic that will make the audience get deep in their thoughts and reflect themselves if what will happen in our live if we have to pass trough a diagnose as John Knox, for the audience to think in how is going to be our lives until we are lost in our own minds, delusional and incapable to have a normal life. Knox take the decision to help his son with whom he has never had a relationship as redemption for all the time that he never expend with him trying to recover all the time that he lost and trying to create bonds with him. Is a movie that have action and fight scenes but also has that sense of humanity watching Knox losing control of his thoughts and his life, it is a good movie and with the cast should be delightful to watch.
John Blackthorne is moving fast in the ranks but not because of his own means so far but because he as become the perfect obstacle for the Council in favor of Toronaga, Yoshii has use him as a pawn on this, so far; silent war he has against the other four most powerful men in Japan.
What intrigue me the most is how far will Yabushige will remain alive playing the double agent game, for the most part he makes everyone believe he is on Toronaga's side but behind close doors he constantly talks to Ishido even advice him how to move against Toronaga and tries to make him use John as a pawn on this side too but the truth is that Yabushige intercept John when Ishido send for him, then Yabushige deliever John to Toronaga, this looks like Yabushige is with Toronaga but trying to hustle Ishido, looking for any land or power he can get from him for his personal use, I doubt Yabushige will be able to betray Toronaga before he finds out or kill him.
Source
Episode two had a dramatic ending with for almost everyone on Toronaga's clan, after John reveal to them that the Portuguese run a gun warehouse Mariko suspect this was used on their war against the Taiko, same war that Toronaga fought meaning they are not their friend but their enemy making all kind of profits under their own noses without even noticing, Yabushige was probably like wtf just happen?
Source
Toronaga has decided to move out of Osaka, he was able to delay his impeachment but thats not enough and with what John has reveal to him changes everything, before he goes kinda broke relationship between the church and Japan closing the port for them this also got Ishido suspecting and now if the other Catholic members of the Council remain loyal to their faith are they also Ishido's enemy but in the meantime allies against Toronaga?
Source
This scene is a very funny one, aside from the mind games there is certain comedy happening specially between Mariko and John, he has no other option since she is his interpreter although he is trying to learn Japanese, he is short on options so they have become some what close and Mariko makes fun of him every time she can regarding how he is a barbarian since he knows nothing about their traditions, in this case the Dr. taking care of his wound suggest they get him a women to calm him down where Mariko translate for him and latter ask if he prefers a male companion.
Source
I'm following the series episode by episode every week, let me tell you that Chiyo is going to become a very important part of John life, after her husband and baby where killed because her husband insulted Ishido she is now going to serve Toronaga to gain a place on his clan, there is suppose to be a romance relationship between John and a women but I'm not sure yet if its Mariko or Chiyo, both went through the same circumstances, both serving Toronaga to remain on his clan and gain a seat, but I'm still not sure if any of the two will fall in love with John.
Source
Japanese honor is something very beautiful that in the case of John he knows nothing about, but he does take certain risks specially lie about certain things, in this case he saves Toronaga by making a full of himself trying to stop Ishido's soldier to look into the case where women where transport, saying how disrespectful is to peek at a women's quarters, if he didnt do this Toronaga was going to be discover for sure but NONE of the Toronaga clan was going to make a fool of themself like John did because of honor, they just do not behave that way no matter what, in that case they probably prefer Toronaga getting discovered and fight for their lives.
Source
Once again Toronaga playing mind tricks at the rest of the council, before Taiko died the orders were simple and explicit, there MUST be five Regents to vote if not they cant but now Toronaga quits the Council leaving only four regents, this moves are starting to make Ishido loose his patience, I think its silly that they cant vote if Toronaga quits, first he can't quit and second if he does then he can be by default declare an enemy of the council.
This series is just getting better and better, we only on episode four as this week, I'm loving all the mind games Toronaga is playing on everyone not only on the council members but also on Yabushige, it seems that been a hostage as little gave him every advantage he needed to develop this mind state, I think we now get into the stage where John starts to go up in the ranks, learn their culture, their language, handle a sword, this is very familiar....last samurai type of thing, but still interesting to me, I'm sure most people are enjoying this tv series a lot.
¡Hola amigos!
Hello friends! As it couldn't be otherwise, I'm watching late the movies that were nominated for awards. Today it was Past Lives turn and I saw that it was well received by the public and since I love all this past lives stuff it was about time I saw it.
Na Young and Hae Sung were childhood friends who one day have to separate because Na Young's family, now named Nora Moon, is going to emigrate to Canada. Each one continued with their respective lives until 12 years later they contact each other through the Internet and resume their friendship, but nothing is as easy as it seems and they will have to make decisions that can bring them closer or drive them apart for good.
I would like to start my review by asking you if you believe in reincarnation and past lives. I love this subject very much and I am a true believer that there is something more after death. I had the joy of feeling a strong and inexplicable connection with certain people just by seeing them, as if our souls recognized each other from somewhere. It is an experience that I wish everyone could experience and to clarify, I am not only referring to the romantic plane, but to any bond. It happened to me with a friend and the same thing happened to her with me, I call it being twin spirits.
It also happened to me to feel something similar with someone I liked but it was not the right time and it could not be. Sometimes it happens, maybe you have a strong connection with someone, but this is not enough, you have to make the necessary decisions so that something more can exist. This is more or less what this film can be summed up in.
I felt that it is one of those films that mark you in a certain way because they challenge you, they invite you to reflect, they make you feel small because life is based on choices and this can determine whether one thing or the other happens. The famous "what if..." We won't know because we didn't take that train or we didn't follow that path and that's okay.
It can be categorized as a film in which it seems that nothing is happening because it has a slow pace and there is no action, but at the same time everything is happening on an emotional level, it plays a lot with human emotions. It's like watching life itself, it's like spying on someone, it's not fantasy, it's not exaggerated, it's real. The film is about bonds, the circumstances in which they occur and what we do or don't do with them.
The chemistry of the actors was brutal, I could feel that it went beyond the screen, some scenes and shots where they were not saying anything but looking at each other were very intimate. They didn't need words to express everything they were feeling and that in a film is amazing. An incredible level of direction.
I would love to talk more about the final scene and the dream scene or the bar scene which were my favorites because you could see the whole dilemma the characters were going through, but I don't want to ruin the experience for you to discover them for yourselves if you want to see the movie. Just keep them in mind for analysis.
The truth is that I loved it, I don't know if I can say I enjoyed it because it made me rethink a couple of things, but there's nothing like when something you see gives you a slap in the face of reality hahahaha. I think I would watch it again because I'm a masochist and I liked the direction the story took. At times I felt a lot of contradiction because I wanted such a thing to happen and at the same time I didn't want it to happen because it was going to be more of the same and it could taint the movie. So I liked the final outcome, but it's also bittersweet. I want to give a special mention to Arthur who stood up to everything like a true champion and that is also what love is, overcoming the obstacles that come your way and choosing each other again.
Well friends, without a doubt it is a movie that I recommend to watch. So if you haven't seen it, don't wait any longer, give it a chance. If you have already seen it, I would like to know your opinion.

See you next time!

Thinking about Brazil and not associating it with corruption is almost impossible for us Brazilians. Certainly, for foreigners, the view of Brazil is completely different. This is acceptable because they don't live here, but alienation of any kind is also not allowed, after all, the internet is everywhere and is full of information. So, you just need to dig a little deeper into the research to see that the level of corruption here is actually quite considerable.
My participation in the Movie That Represents Your Country competition is precisely about one of the movies that exposes to the world how corruption in Brazil happens (that is, at least a very consistent part of it). The movie is Elite Squad, which was released in 2007, and automatically caused a real controversy in wide spheres here (mainly in the political scene, for more than obvious reasons), because the themes portrayed are very strong.
Written and directed with great insight and a deep insight into the controversies presented, filmmaker José Padilha directs this feature movie (which was a true success with the public and specialized critics, to the point of becoming a reference within national cinema, not just for Brazilians themselves, but also for the world) with an iron fist. His skill in directing this movie was exceptional, mainly because of the low budget (which makes its production a bit simple... but all of its content is extremely significant).
The historical and traditional clash between good and evil here is portrayed through the struggle of a BOPE captain (played brilliantly by Wagner Moura) and also a group of police officers against everyday adversities (which are basically engineered and financed by politicians). In the central plot, Captain Nascimento intends to find a replacement for his position (because he understands that he can no longer continue in this profession), but this mission will not be easy as he advances in the search.
Bringing a mix of themes, such as corruption, betrayal, friendship, family, psychological conflicts, drug trafficking and money embezzlement, the script manages to go deep in connecting all these themes in a very convincing way, to the point of causing a lot of indignation in those who is watching (especially if the viewer is Brazilian or also knows the reality of Brazil). The focus is on the state of Rio de Janeiro... But everything can be expanded nationally.
I particularly love this movie, and within Brazilian cinema, I consider it one of the most brutal examples of truthfulness about the corrupt justice system that exists in the country. This is the kind of movie that leaves you astonished to see so many bad things happening at the same time, and also to not have so much hope at times. However, the movie also brings encouragement, focusing on human figures who fight for order and against chaos, showing that there is always someone, somewhere, doing everything possible to overcome the bad side.

The show is currently on episode 8 about to finish this Friday 15, I have been keeping up with the episodes but had delays as usual to post recaps, it has been a blast for the most part but as any other mini series there are a few slow episodes. Episode six in my opinion doesn't fall into the full hype episodes and I think from here one the story is about giving some closure to all the characters, specially Crosby, Buck and Bucky. There is something unusual on this mini series, having some other strong characters like Captain Rosie who are so strong but not given enough screen time, the entire problem is that there is too much to the story that does not fit into one season and its a shame AppleTV didn't think this way, there is so much potential and they decided to make it a mini series.
Episode six is a drama episode but starts with some action, Buck is alive, landed in Germany after he had to jump ship but he was quickly capture by locals and then detain by the Military, this episode is all about Buck. There are other characters who keep developing the story like Crosby and Rosie, both send to rest and clear their minds out of base.
Source
In times of war must be a constant adrenaline rush to be in the middle of enemy territory, alone with just your pistol and trying to stay hidden from any pair of eyes that come across, you have to assume everyone is the enemy but can't take defense actions because you will be quickly out number, you might take out a few but once their bodies are discover a lot of heat will be after you, in a very short term this is what happen to Buck, he was found by locals and then detain.
Source
After the last very rough mission some of the personnel were send out to clear their mind, Crosby was send to Oxford for a conference where there would be all kind of members from the Allies Military Forces, he gets letters from his wife and before Bubbles died he was a bit dry when ever talking about her. Rosie and his crew were send out directly to a resting place, not a spa but all kind of activities to relax, as a fact that was the direct order relax, they were the only survivor of their last mission and the scene where all they see were airplane parts falling from the sky must put a lot of weigh on their shoulders, who would want to go up in the sky again after what they saw? but after all they were the only ones who came back so there must be something special about that Rosie and his crew, Co. want them back sharp as fuck but understood they have to calm down and relax after all the carnage they went through.
Source
Allies are starting to bomb Germany, they going deep and cities are starting to fall, Buck and some other pilots that were capture were been transport by train until they got to a point were the city was destroy and the train had to stop, from there they had to walk but the main problem were the people around them at the moment, the city just got bombarded by the Royal Air Force at night, the minute people saw American Pilots they brought down the hammer, attacking them, stab them, German Soldiers allow all this until it was enough mayhem and started to put them down one by one with a bullet to their heads, I guess it was a dramatic cliche scene but when the German Soldier tries to kill Buck, he ran out of bullets.
Source
Buck instead got knock out and though dead, the group of pilots were going to be burred in the outsides of the city but Buck was still alive and try to escape, he was just too weak and now military caught him again, this was the best outcome because he was either going to be burred alive or shot before been 7ft under ground.
Source
There were all kind of spies on both sides during war, we have seen this many times on WWII TV series recently like A Small Light, The New Look, All the Light We Cannot See, spies was a thing, probably not the James Bond type of spies just regular people that were a sell out, Germany had a lot of intel on American pilots and the moment Buck was capture they knew a lot about him, he was brought to interrogation although he as many others refuse to answer any questions other than his name, rank and serial number.
Source
This last four episodes of Masters of The Air I think will mostly touch on other topics than air battle, they will probably be more about the physical and psychological struggles of pilots and soldiers during war, in the case of Crosby and Rosie who have gone through so much and they are still free and alive, others with less fortune like Buck were send out to camps where all American Soldiers capture went to, on this series the camp was mostly full of Air Force members, they also show a scene how civilians were taken to work camps it was brutal to see all that people asking for help, I always see the educational side of this scenes, many jump the gun into conclusions like its propaganda on any of the two sides although all I can think is that no body should be treated this way but we also have to realize during war times this things are going to happen or worst.
Source
Part Six brings a now well known actress Bel Powley, from A Small Light, she now plays the role of Sandra Westgate who ends up to be Crosby roommate at the Oxford conference and they build a bond, I do not applaud cheating on your wife just for been out of the country for that long but we can't denied that the women is a key component of all adult men, some cant be without one at least for closure for a companion, Crosby has gone through so much and probably after a long time he found something of this on Sandra; their moment ended quickly this time since she was called back to HQ and had to go leaving Crosby hanging.
As you can tell from the cover image Bucky is alive, Buck is capture and during an escape attempt re capture but it was the best it could happen to him after locals try to finish him on the streets and German soldiers participate too, the series is starting to fall mainly into drama of what the Pilots, Soldiers and regular people went through during the war, since Bucky and Buck are back together we will see the rest of the episodes leaning more into their release, escape or death, I have keep up with watching the episodes every week but this are the type of posts that takes me the most to write and haven't had the proper time, I think I might just speed run the next episodes for the rest of the week so I can finish the episode recaps on Saturday.
It has been a blast so far watching this series, I think most people had a good time specially during the first five episodes when it was full of air battle action, sadly NOW that the allies fighters show up they will have very few minutes of screen, I kept asking to watch a battle with fighters as escorts of the bombers but so far never got it, for the ending of the series I'm open for anything, after all a lot of people were send send to death march where they either die marching on the snow or they got killed by soldiers, sad episodes but again that's how brutal war is and there is nothing we can do about it just avoid it at all costs because there is no good outcome out of war, never is.
Right now it feels like a great time for TV series with so many productions, great shows releasing and some about to end or finish their season like Masters of The Air and Halo, last year I felt there were not this many great series like The Ones Who Live and Shogun, 2023 TWD spin off stared a bit weak with Dead City even giving the impression that they were just trying to milk the cow a bit more although towards the end Negan took the wheel and ended very strong in my opinion.
The Ones Who Live is just getting better and this is only the third episode, more mysteries are been reveal on this episode at the same time it starts to make me feel like not trusting Rick or others, like Michonne is the only good one here. It is also confirm that no body has escape so far from the city and Rick has been the only one so far that had that many attempts and almost got off when he cut his arm.
I still don't get why if the CRM does't allow A (strong leaders) in, how Rick, Jadis and Pearl make it because all the CRM wants are sheep they can control and been citizens, Jadis now is high in the ranks of the CRM but then the same question comes up why she was allow inside? she is so higher than Rick that she actually got him by the balls making him take desperate actions asking Pearl for favors and I'm starting to think that Jadis knows about this.
On episode 3 there were a few scenes with a lot of impact, Jadis been the only knowing about Rick and Michonne puts a lot of weight on him even giving him an ultimatum, if anything happens to her she left all the necessary documentation so they CRM knows about them, Rick beg her not to and let Michonne go but she is right about something, it was Rick to brought her back, she should have stay out, although Rick probably consider her chances to survive the CRM were higher been inside having him looking after her, its just sick how Jadis has total control over Rick to make him beg.
It was a matter of time and circumstances for Michonne to show off her killing skills, its a natural thing on her knowing how to fight and kill walkers and people too, she had one job; not to let others see this other side of her but she blew it off for the first time during her shift after she had to take actions to safe one of her co workers before a few walkers jump her, it does look like the CRM gathers the sheep only.
Pearl different than Rick is a soldier, she follows orders, she actually didn't like him although Major Okafor got them closer before he died, thats the only reason why she help Rick getting Michonne into Philadelphia, before Okafor died Mayor Baele ask Rick if he could trust him and Okafor like he was smelling what they were cooking and its no coincidence that now so quick after Okafor died both Pearl and Rick go higher in the ranks, in my opinion Baele is setting the bait to know what were Okafor plans and if both Pearl and Rick are still on it.
Rick doesn't give two shit about the CRM, Pearl didn't but some how she got brainwash after her debrief when she was giving the Major rank. Rick is still trying to get away but now he needs to help Michonne escape, its better one outside than both inside the CRM, he had everything perfectly lay out, tries to trick Michonne but she could not go alone, lot of people died during her journey to find Rick so there is no way she is going back home empty handed knowing she did find Rick. I think this is very selfish from her knowing she has a kid back home.
Pearl is going to pull ranks with Rick, the inevitable has happen and now all eyes are on Michonne who was presented as this poor women trying to survive, another survivor that was looking for a community to join, obviously what sold her off were her fighting skills and Pearl did advocate for her at first but now has no other option. She calls Rick and basically told him WTF? what I'm suppose to do or say about her when she is basically showing off all this talent to kill walkers, this force Rick to tell Michonne is over between them but she doesn't buy it, the most interesting and dramatic scenes happen during a mission they were part off but I better not discuss that scene until next episode, that's all the action shown during the episode so its better of you to watch the episode.
Since episode one I knew the hole CRM situation had Rick desperate to the point that he cut his arm to escape, this is usually wild animal behavior when they fell its over, when they are cornered with no where to go, this is confirm during his conversation with Jadis how he beg her to let Michonne go, I knew this spin off was going to be great because of the main characters but this is turning out awesome, not that much action between episodes but the drama generates peak dopamine, the best thing about this spin off is that cliff hangers between episodes are not that big of a deal, just enough to make you want to watch another episode and enough not to make you mad because now you have to wait a week for the next episode.
Hello everyone, today I want to share with you a movie that I saw recently and that touched my soul, it made me cry not only because of the situations of the main character, but also because of the excellently chosen soundtrack.
To be honest I had already seen the trailer several times, but I had not decided to see it until I finally decided to watch it and I want to tell you that I really liked it.
A million miles away, is an Amazon Prime original movie, premiered in September 2023, starring Michael Peña, which is based on a real life story, directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella, a Mexican director who paid attention to every detail.
The story is about a Mexican migrant who along with his family works in agricultural plantations, Jose Hernandez, a very smart little boy who dreams of becoming an astronaut.
The soundtrack as I already mentioned is excellent, great voices sounded in the film, songs so emotional and from important people or groups in Mexico such as José Alfredo Jiménez, Los Tigres del Norte, Juan Gabriel etc. really touched my heart, before seeing the film I did not know who directed it, but now researching I realize that they were selected by someone who loves Mexico, his roots, and excuse me if I am very emotional with music, but it really moves me because it represents my country.
On the other hand, we can notice the graffiti-like letters characteristic of the migrant neighborhoods. There are many details that can be seen, such as the food, which denote a bit of melancholy of the director.
The story of the Mexican migrant Astronaut is interesting, from some point in the film I was able to identify it since a few years ago I saw some interviews in the news on some television channels, so I felt more pride for people like him, who have worked hard to get ahead and pursue their dreams until they reach them.
It is a story of love, sacrifice and success in which the Latino immigrant community and all of us who have a dream are reflected.
Poor Things:When Originality is Lost in the Chaos of the Modern World
Can a film of this style, be so popular and deserving of an Oscar, is this what is being sold in this modern world, I have stayed in the old days, I do not understand how we have fallen so low, or rather, the cinema of today, its level of ingenuity, creativity and desire for marketing, leaves much to be desired.
It's time to watch some movies, considered the best and winners, taking into account that not all films are to the taste of many, as always, when we talk about cinema, we will find disagreements and different opinions, what some consider a masterpiece, others find it a real disaster, and waste of time.
With this second opinion, I base myself, when talking about this movie, Poor Creatures, and the name fits it well, unfortunately this is what is being sold, they have turned it into a new fashion, with the different genres, a world full of pleasures and debauchery.
In a way I understand the point of this movie, and that is that it shows us in a certain way, what the modern world has propitiated, with its ideologies, its feminism, revolution, and everything else, is what the great majority applaud this movie, but excuse me, this level of modernism, is too vulgar and mediocre, it is the truth, even if many think the opposite.
I do not deny that the actress played a great role, I applaud her, I do not criticize her performance, or anyone else's, because they only play a role, here we are talking about what they show us, the message, what they transmit in this film, as I mentioned, it is the new fashion, what the cinema brings us nowadays, what we see in the movies, as well as in the series, the excess of perversion, extravagance, among other things, through all possible existing genres, regardless of age, size, or whatever, it doesn't matter, this is what sells, and this is what they are going to create and show.
What we will see in this story
The plot begins, starts a little slow, and at the beginning we see this young innocent girl, where they make us think that she suffers from some disorder, but the reality is different, and is that an acclaimed scientist decided to play with science, and revive this woman, she to see how inexperienced and indifferent she feels the world, decides to go out to explore it with a sophisticated and adventurous man, thus touring several continents, and it is in this journey, where we will see, the depth of this story.
I really don't want to give you many details of what you will find in this movie, to be honest, I only saw some parts of the trailer, and although it didn't catch my attention, I decided to see it anyway, as I said for being considered one of the best, and well with the lead actress nominated for best actress, I had to see if she is really worth that role....
Sadly, it was not what I expected, since the movie is categorized as comedy, drama and science fiction; however, this is far from it, for me it was grotesque, certainly very bizarre, and boring.
It can truly be considered a masterpiece.
And yes, I know that many will perhaps retort, and say, on the contrary, it was a masterpiece; I ask you, what was the masterpiece here?
The scenery?Wardrobe? Of course, I totally agree, a period atmosphere, colorful and at the same time somber, and the costumes are masterful, the girl's dresses are striking, outlandish, .
The music? Acceptable, according to the scenographies, and the period on which the story was based.
The performances? O yes of course, Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, as always two great actors, modern, expressive, fulfilling their role, out of themselves, out of their zone, no doubt.
The message?
Well, let's digress here; let's see what is the message it conveys?
And it can not be denied, the story, no doubt shows us something, the sad reality of this modern world, perhaps that is why many have liked it, because yes of course, it can not be denied, in this young girl we see innocence, but at the same time perversion, evil, lack of empathy, selfishness, in short, many other things, and not to mention of course the sexual part, which we will see here.
This is the world that is reflected in this story, full of immorality, lack of education, no respect for others, contempt, lust, pleasure, this and much, is what is applauded then, what a world we live in.
But of course, all this is fiction, no, it's just a movie, so you shouldn't take it so seriously; it's true, but I still don't consider it a masterpiece.
I do recommend it
Well, if you are one of those who like this kind of movies, bizarre, grotesque, vulgar, boring and unfunny, yes of course, go ahead, sure, you will enjoy it more than me.
Thanks for reading, see you in the next one🎬.
At least it didn't win Best Picture, but they gave Emma her Oscar, sad that she won it for such a role, but, remember, this is the new era, the new trend, the new cinema....
I WOULD HAVE SEEN BETTER OPPENHEIMER
"A Western, Crime and Drama movie walks into a Bar..." Possibly, this is the introduction of some joke, but the reality is that these are the genres that make up one of the best films released last year and that competes for the big film awards with such confidence that if by surprise it is chosen as the big winner of an awards night, I am convinced that no one would say any complaints for the wonderful film production directed and CO-written by Martin Scorsese.
"Killers of the Flower Moon" is a film that narrates the series of murders of members of the "Osage" tribe that occurred in Oklahoma in 1920; this story focuses on a series of Osage women, a mother and her daughters, victims of the ambition and cruelty of a group of white men who wanted to obtain the wealth obtained from the oil that flowed from their lands and by laws imposed by the U.S. government, was the door to devise a criminal plan where manipulation was the main weapon.
Every time it is mandatory to enjoy the current work of directors like Steven Spielberg and in this case, Martin Scorsese, who once again offers the world of cinema a high level production; visually "Killers of the Flower Moon" is a genius, from its first scenes where a danger is predicted and at the same time a tribe is blessed with a great prize; It is precisely those scenes where we observe the beauty of a place that hides a vile and I can even say demonic plan and Scorsese from his camera offers us an image of the west which is not so necessary to populate a place with the typical image of the cowboy, but to show what is a lawless people and with many ways to die.
The screenplay written by Scorsese and Eric Roth, is based on the book written by the American journalist David Grann; this story of real facts is the great demonstration that not every inherited benefit will bring full joy; this story shows a generational struggle, I mean how a young part of a family can demonstrate irresponsibility, naivety and give power to those who least deserve it; precisely these elements are what gives way to a vile plan devised from greed; what is demonstrated in this story is the degree of manipulation and injustice caused and arranged by the use or importance of money, that great factor is the reason for everything we see in this film that in my opinion presents a high level in its narrative because as we can hear in one of the dialogues, at certain times we can not recognize which are the wolves, although it is something brief because from the second hour onwards, this story takes a high level of injustice and crime.
The performances are among the best of the year, having actors of the category of Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, makes this production has a high level, but before referring to the work of both, I must talk about one of the factors that motivated me to see this film and is the performance of Lily Gladstone, who plays "Mollie Burkhart"; her performance is the calm in this film, she is a woman with responsibility and possibly because of her illness she feels and looks like someone lonely, that is played very well by Lily, since the attitude of her character, how strong her voice is and how serene, makes her distant, but at the moment of falling in love she changes her countenance and surrenders to what her husband offers, which is a home and children, a dangerous arrangement that makes her a perfect victim; possibly the work of this actress is seen as brief or with little relevance, but the truth is that this story is told from her point of view, from her love story, her concern for her tribe, the suffering of the loss of her family, her illness and as I said, a perfect victim. The work of DiCaprio and De Niro_ is perfect, the character of "Ernest Burkhart", played by Leonardo, is just another victim, he is a man who proclaims himself as strong and intelligent and he is nothing of the sort, he is someone manipulable, cowardly, he is detestable and I repeat, this is because of the great work of DiCaprio; regarding Robert, I can only say before seeing his performance as "William King Hale", I considered only one character in a film as "The Devil", but seeing this film, I am convinced that "King" was the devil; what a great and impressive job, he is one of the best villains I have seen in the last years.
Although I know that Killers of the Flower Moon will not win the Academy Award for Best Picture; I think that does not prevent it from being considered as one or maybe the best film of the past year; this is a complete film, I mean that every line, both in script, acting and of course, in direction, highlights its high level; although this story is about ambition, betrayal, manipulation and crime; I think it also explores the theme of the "Power of Money"; what motivates to make money in any way, whether to do good or evil, no matter what kind, is on one side or the other, there is no in between and just that makes you see that first, there is a value of merit with respect to skin color and another that just what is described above is overshadowed by the color of money, a factor that is above all. This is a great film which may be slow in its first hour for not only giving introduction to the elements that will be developed in the course of the film, but it tries to play with the intelligence of the viewer, nothing difficult, but it makes you doubt who represents good and evil, but when everything is present, the story takes a surprising pace, gripping that makes you think how fast he spent the remaining two hours and thirty minutes; that is why if you have not seen this film, do not pay attention to the duration time because this film is the best.
Over the years of following the Oscars ceremony even before it was officially shown on television, I have read several controversies about the party. In general, there is always some political or more behavioral problem involving society, but this time, I think Hollywood is reaching a level of paranoia that is reaching red alert. I honestly can't believe a dog becomes a threat.
In summary, Messi (who is a border collie dog), a beloved canine figure who appears in the movie Anatomy of a Fall (2023), simply will not be able to attend the ceremony in this next edition of the Oscar because the major studios that have nominees for the award this Sunday They claimed that the dog “stole” the scene by attracting people’s attention during the gym’s traditional lunch. According to studio bosses, this could interfere with votes.
Honestly, the only thing I can do while writing this text is laugh compulsively and highlight that things in Hollywood lands are getting worse and worse, haha! Things are really getting out of control, and worse than that, is seeing that the big studio bosses have won, because in fact, Messi will not attend the party because of this “hunt”. However, the question is not about the presence or absence of the animal, but about the power of influence.
This only demonstrates (and reinforces) how things work within the American movie industry and helps me accept the idea that as much as I love cinema, things within this universe have their chronic problems and this is one of the many examples that I have been following you for so many years. However, I still can't accept the idea that only one dog could trigger such paranoia to this extent. This is something surreal!
Monkey Man (2024) is an upcoming action movie that seem to promise to deliver a powerful message, nothing that has not seen before but there are a few aspects that will cause a big impact into this movie; a blend of exciting action and might provoke certain reactions from viewers when it touches on topics like corruption and abuse of the weak ones, this is a movie develop around the India culture so it might or not on porpuse try to touch this aspects of now days reality within India.
As its a classic for this kind of stories, the action takes place in a city where the rich and powerful exploit the vulnerable and from this situation a man who was directly affected emerge as the center of hope for some people, might not save the world but can safe a few from this social and economical situation impacting a large population, driven by by the memory of his mother and the stories she told him about a mythical protector known as the “White Monkey” the main character takes on the role of a anonymous hero determined to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
The plot starts to develop with the main character as a kid and his struggles growing up on this society, consume by the corruption and power while this men will go beyond than most people would to challenge this social status, fueled by vengeance he will now try to put an end to the suffering of others but not before him going through a good doses of violence as a fighter to keep him sharp, there are those in power who will try to stop him at all cost to keep and maintain the grip on society.
At its core the movie digs into the concept of vengeance and the lengths an individual will go to seek justice in a corrupt society it tackles the theme of corruption and the abuse of power showing the insidious nature of systemic oppression and its devastating impact on communities.
The movie also looks at the power of storytelling and mythology as the main character’s mother’s stories about the “White Monkey” protector serve as a catalyst for his transformation into a anonymous hero this aspect highlights the role of stories in creating this new identity inspiring and providing hope in the face of such social and economical problems transferring power to those who abuse of it.
I could not find much information if there any specific reason why the movie tries to touch such provoking themes delivering more than just entertainment but also a powerful social message that might sound to the viewers, this is an important aspect to avoid viewers to call out the creator of the movie for pushing messages as its a usual practice now days although I personally don’t see anything wrong so far with it in this case.
The movie guarantees to be a visually beautiful one that makes use of a number cinematography techniques to carry its all the action and story to life the trailer gives a peek into the movie atmospheric look with excessive contrast lighting and deep shadows mainly on the city scenes, giving you that vibe of corrupt mega city.
Great camera movements and angles add to the tension and action throughout the fight and chase scenes will probably help immersing the audience, I really like the contrast when he has the mask on during the ring fight how the lighting make it look like a very dusty place and also provide that underground clandestine fight type of vibes, in contrast to other scenes where there is landscape, vegetation, it truly give shots of all kind of place
Dev Patel, the well known British actor from movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Lion, and The Green Knight, is going to direct his first movie, called Monkey Man, this is an interesting new step in Patel’s career, as he moves from acting to directing, him shifting into directing shows his love for telling stories and his interest in trying new creative things, he will act in the main role and also helped write the script with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, I think this shows how much Patel cares moving forward looking into trying new things to a evolve as some one who can not only perform the role of a character but also create something from a script or scratch, also about making a story that people will find meaningful at the same time it is a big deal that Jordan Peele, who won an Oscar and started the production company Monkeypaw and has decided to back Monkey Man. Peele, who made the successful movies Get Out and Us, really liked Patel’s work and pushed for the movie to be shown in theaters through Universal Pictures, instead of just on Netflix like originally planned. As an actor, Patel has worked with some very respected movie directors, like Danny Boyle, Garth Davis, and Armando Iannucci, all this has probably taught him important things about telling stories, making characters feel and look real, and making movies look so good. For Dev Patel being an actor also helps him understand how to get strong performances from the other actors in his movie, I’m sure movie lovers like me and people who like Dev Patel are excited to see how his first time directing turns out, with his talent, creative ideas, and support from important people in the movie industry like Jordan Peele, Patel has a good chance of making a big impact as a director and showing everyone that he’s a skilled artist in many different ways.
From what I have seen on the trailer I have no doubt this is going to be a great watch, even though some action movies basically give it all on a trailer it does not seem the case with Monkey Man, the story develops in multiple locations and times from when he was a kid, then while growing up he went through some fight training and now as an adult got tired for the system and its going against it, on a timeline with so much expansion I doubt everything was reveal on the trailer. It's true that this movie probably is not going to show us anything new that we have not seen so far but it does gives a fresh face as a potential replacement for John Wick, fast fight and shooting action scenes had happen in the past but there is the culture mix on the movie too that will provide something different to it, can't wait to watch this movie.

Through that journey Darren start to bring memories from his past and Ozzie just want to leave the investigation behind because a lot of odd events start to happen, at the same time Jonah is not able to walk but talk about future and disturbing events. A movie that will force the audience to questioning what is false or true, if Margot behavior is in fact to protect her son or if she is hidden something darker, what memories does Darren want to keep hidden and if at the end the truth will be know.
Jonah is a movie that premiere on March 12th and invite the audience to enjoy another story about supernatural events, to confirm if in fact Jonah was abducted or if something more deeper is really happening.
Ben Van Kleek is a writer, producer and director from Vancouver that has dedicated his life in produce TV commercials, films and branded content, in 2021 he produced the short film Good News directed by Osric Shao which one that premiered in different film festivals. Van Kleek established in 2012 BVK Films a video production company and now he is debuting as a director with the movie Jonah, Kleek brings this supernatural thriller to life with an intriguing message that leaves audiences eager to see the film.
The story start with Margot called emergency to inform that her son has been abducted, right away journalists Darren and Ozzie where notified and they travel to meet Margot and confirm if she is telling the truth or only sailing a story to called attention of media, all this is going to bring back memories to Darren making him getting deeper into Jonah’s case trying to solved the mystery after Jonah’s return. A supernatural story that will give answer and keep the audience on the edge of their seat until the mystery is uncover.
Let know the cast of Jonah starting with Alaina Huffman portraying Margot, Jonah mother, she is an actress and producer know for be part of productions such as Smallville 2001, Supernatural 2005 and Perfection 2018. Osric Chau take the role of investigative journalist Darren, Chau is best known for his role as Kevin Train in the CW series Supernatural, as Vogel in the series Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency and as Ryan Choi in Arrowverse. Ken Kirby join the cast as Ozzie the other half that complete the investigative journalist team, Kirby is an actor and screenwriter best known for his participation in the CW series Dynasty and with the role as Lenjamin McButtons in the series The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo. Tahmoh Penikett portrays Henry, Penikeet is well known for his role as Karl Helo Agathon in the acclaimed SciFi TV program Battlestar Galactica also and as Paul Ballard in the TV series Dollhouse.
Jonah is not giving to much information of how the movie is going to develop, in order to solved the mystery people are going to need to see the movie and try to confirm what is lie and what is the truth. A story of a mother that believes his son was abducted, it seems that the movie is going to be round of supernatural events, with odd moments and a lot of intrigues. Jonah was a movie that didn’t have problems with the filming process and will give to the audience moments to reflect.
Although it seems impossible to believe the reviews of Jonah are not available yet apparently the audience are going to be critics hoping that the direction by Ben Van Kleek’s direction is good since it is his debut, the performances of each actor and actress from what is shown in the trailer seem quite exceptional and the entire plot of the film is also expected to be convincing, not predicted or repetitive.
Bringing a known topic and for many fans of the supernatural universe, Jonah is bringing a new view from a director that what to prove his value in his debut and form a carrier in the filming industry. Jonah with the premise of an abduction, premise that is old in this industry is fighting to gain a spot and show that can give the atmosphere of a good movie, giving tension, mystery, unpredictable topic and maybe a plot twist to the story, searching the truth in the unknown and one more time bringing the question that we are not alone in this vast universe.
