When in a film genre such as animation, monopolized by Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks and Sony productions, I think it is striking or attractive when certain films appear that seem to break the mold with attractive stories; These productions which I consider as independent, have certain notoriety when those who create them decide to show the world in a series of film festivals, hoping that luck smiles on them and they can have a national and international distribution, but I think there is no greater promotion when one of these films get the great recognition such as being nominated for the big prize of cinema, that promotion is what made me see a great story which I review in this publication.

Cuando en un género fílmico como es el de la animación, acaparado por producciones de Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks y Sony; creo que es llamativo o atractivo cuando aparecen ciertas películas que parece romper el molde con historias atractivas; estas producciones las cuales considero como independientes, tienen cierta notoriedad cuando quienes las crea deciden mostrar al mundo en una serie de festivales de cine, esperando que la suerte les sonría y puedan tener una distribución nacional e internacional, pero creo que no hay mayor promoción cuando uno de estos filmes obtienen el gran reconocimiento como es ser nominados al gran premio del cine, esa promoción es lo que me hizo ver una gran historia a la cual hago reseña en esta publicación.

"Robot Dreams", a Spanish-French production, premiered first at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, to be later released in theaters last December; film winner of the Goya Awards for Best Animated Film and Best Adapted Screenplay and currently nominated for Best Animated Film in the upcoming Academy Awards; this film takes place in the city of Manhattan in the 80's" and where we will see "Dog", a character who spends his time watching TV, playing video games and eating alone; precisely the loneliness makes him long and have what he sees from his window, I mean a friendship, a relationship that breaks the monotony and seeing a TV commercial, he knows he has the opportunity to have what he wants most, a friend, although not a conventional one, as it is a robot, which must teach the good of friendship, but unexpectedly, as is life itself, must also experience the trials of maintaining and strengthening a relationship.

"Robot Dreams", producción hispano-francesa, estrenada primeramente en el 76th Cannes Film Festival, para después ser estrenada en las salas de cine en el pasado mes de diciembre; película ganadora de los Premios Goya como mejor film animado y mejor guion adaptado y actualmente nominada a Mejor Film Animado en los próximos Premios a la Academia; este film se desarrolla en la ciudad de Manhattan de los 80" y en dónde veremos a "Dog", un personaje quien se la pasa viendo TV, jugar videojuegos y comer solo; justamente la soledad le hace añorar y tener lo que ve observa desde su ventana, me refiero a una amistad, una relación que rompa esa monotonía y al ver un comercial de TV, sabe que tiene la oportunidad de tener lo que más quiere, un amigo, aunque uno nada convencional, ya que es un robot, al cual deberá enseñar lo bueno de la amistad, pero inesperadamente, como es la vida en sí, también deberá experimentar las pruebas de mantener y fortalecer una relación.

My knowledge of this film was because of the nomination to the Oscars; while many people made reference to other films that should have been nominated, I thought this was an opportunity to see a film that was not part of a big production company and maybe they presented something different from the other nominees and yes it did, although in my opinion it is not so different or original; what I said before is not at all something negative, first the story is great, but what I want to refer first of all is the decisions taken in the design of the city of Manhattan and of course of the characters; the animation is excellent, the rhythm imposed to the city, the real New York of the 80's, the suburbs, the buildings, the train, the beach, everything I consider perfect, as well as the design of each character, for example "Dog" has of course the necessary reference of being a dog, but at the same time he has that particularity of being different from the others, it can be the color of his fur, his ears, his body, characteristics that you can't define for example what kind of dog he is, something already seen in other animated productions like "Snoopy" and "Scooby Doo"; I thought that was great and very correct for this story.

The story is amazing and I think it is due to the great decision of not using any words for the story of the friendship between "Dog" and "Robot"; everything that happens in this story that is divided into the points of view of its protagonists, uses between gestures, music and dreams what each one experiences in the relationship they have; This gives us moments where loneliness is a main motivator for the beginning and development of the history of both which can lead to dependence and possibly independence, shows us moments of happiness and the search for that happiness, which is an important theme in this film and what I think is excellent as it was handled, this because there is no need to look for a bad or a good in a relationship, at least not in this story.

Mi conocimiento de este film fue por la nominación a los Premios Oscars; mientras muchas personas hicieron referencia a que otros films debieron ser nominados, pensé que está era una oportunidad para ver un film que no era parte de una gran productora y tal vez presentaron algo diferente a las demás nominadas y sí que lo hizo, aunque en mi opinión no es tan diferente u original; lo antes dicho no es para nada algo negativo, primeramente la historia es genial, pero lo que quiero primeramente hacer referencia es a las decisiones tomadas en el diseño de la ciudad de Manhattan y por supuesto de los personajes; la animación es excelente, el ritmo impuesto a la ciudad, lo real que se ve esa Nueva York de los 80', los suburbios, las edificaciones, el tren, la playa, todo lo considero perfecto, así como el diseño de cada personaje, por ejemplo "Dog" tiene por supuesto la referencia necesaria de ser un perro, pero a la vez tiene esa particularidad de ser diferente a los demás, puede ser  el color de su pelaje, sus orejas, su cuerpo, características que no puedes definir por ejemplo a qué clase de perro es, algo ya visto en otras producciones animadas como "Snoopy" y "Scooby Doo"; eso me pareció genial y muy correcto para esta historia.

La historia es sorprendente y creo que es debido la gran decisión de no usar ninguna palabra para el relato de la amistad entre "Dog" y "Robot"; todo lo que sucede en esta historia que se divide en los puntos de vista de sus protagonistas, usa entre gestos, música y sueños lo que experimentan cada uno en la relación que tienen; esto nos brinda momentos en dónde la soledad es un motivador principal para el comienzo y desarrollo de la historia de ambos lo cual puede llevar a la dependencia y posiblemente independencia, nos muestra momentos de felicidad y de la búsqueda de esa felicidad, lo cual es importante tema en esta película y lo que me parece excelente tal como fue manejado, esto porque no hay necesidad de buscar un malo o un bueno en una relación, por lo menos no en esta historia.

The loneliness of "Dog" motivates a wonderful story that makes just that character have some courage or bravery to do things outside his comfort zone or rather, expand that comfort zone, I think Dog can make a number of public can identify with their attitudes although at some point feel or be seen as someone who is not ready to have a purely stable relationship, but that does not prevent him from doing his best not to feel alone again; With respect to "Robot", he has a certain similarity with his counterpart, his naivety makes him exploit new experiences, do his best to be at par with his partner and friend even if that means being dependent; his only point in favor is that at first he does not experience loneliness although some time later the longing and dependence makes him hope to recover good times; feelings that possibly do not have full demonstration because in the end he is a robot, but frustration and depression are shown in an excellent way; there is nothing more to say that "Robot" is my favorite character.

La soledad de "Dog" motiva una historia maravillosa que hace que justamente ese personaje tenga cierto coraje o valentía de hacer cosas fuera de su zona de confort o mejor dicho, expandir esa zona de confort, creo que Dog puede hacer que una cantidad de público puede sentirse identificado con sus actitudes aunque en algún momento sienta o se haga ver cómo alguien que no está preparado para tener una relación netamente estable, pero eso no evita que pueda hacer lo posible por no sentirse nuevamente solo; con respecto a "Robot", tiene cierta similitud con su contraparte, su ingenuidad le hace explotar nuevas experiencias, hacer lo posible para estar a la par de su compañero y amigo aunque eso signifique ser dependiente; su único punto a favor es que en un principio no experimenta la soledad aunque tiempo después la añoranza y la dependencia hace crear esperanza de recuperar buenos momentos; sentimientos que posiblemente no tienen demostración plena porque al final es un robot, pero la frustración y la depresión son demostradas de una forma excelente; no hay más que decir que "Robot" es mi personaje favorito.

I didn't expect much from Robot Dreams, directed and written by Pablo Berger, based on a 2007 comic of the same name and written by Sara Varon; this is one of the best movies I've seen this year, its simple narrative, its beautiful animation and the excellent use of music are the great features of this production that surely won't win the award for best animated film, but I think it is a story that everyone can see and enjoy; the way of using its characters to tell a story about the behavior in a relationship, the reasons to look for and maintain a relationship is what I liked, as well as the personal story of each of its characters and the best thing about the film is that it shows us the experience from the point of view of each one and we can understand behaviors and decisions they will take in order to find the happiness they long for. I hope you have the opportunity to see such a good and positive story, one of those that may go unnoticed in the eyes of the world because of famous or little known awards.

No esperaba mucho de Robot Dreams, dirigida y escrita por Pablo Berger, basada en un comic del 2007, que lleva el mismo nombre y fue escrito por Sara Varon; está es una de las mejores películas que he visto en este año, su simpleza en la narrativa, su hermosa animación y el excelente uso de la música es las grandes características que tiene esta producción que seguramente no gane el premio a mejor film animado, pero creo que es una historia que cada quien puede ver y disfrutar; la manera de usar a sus personajes para relatar una historia sobre el comportamiento en una relación, los motivos para buscar y mantener una relación es lo que me ha gustado, así como la historia personal de cada uno de sus personajes y es que lo mejor del film es que nos va mostrando la experiencia desde el punto de vista de cada uno y así podemos entender comportamientos y decisiones que tomarán para poder encontrar la felicidad que tanto anhelan. Espero que tenga la oportunidad de ver tan buena y positiva historia, una de esas que no sé por premios famosos o pocos conocidos, tal vez pase desapercibida a los ojos del mundo.

These days followers don't just mean random strangers, they can be your potential source of income. Celebrity, a south korean series tries to bring up the dark, glamor life of the so-called influencers. From the series, we can learn that anyone can be an influencer or celebs. There’s always some certain formula to be famous but behind those glamor life, something needs to be sacrificed. Celebrity is a South Korean series released back in 2023. It starred Park Gyu-young who plays as Seo-Ari & Kang Min-hyuk as Han Jun-kyung, the male protagonist in the story.

Seo-Ari was just a regular hard working girl in the cutthroat world of seoul. She isn’t quite active online and apathetic about it. However, one day her co-worker and friend talked about the recent online feud between instagram influencers. Somehow, Seo-ari started getting intrigued about it and she eventually met up with her old friend, who happened to be a famous influencer in South Korea. Behind expensive clothing and lavish lifestyle, apparently some members got their riches to maintain their lifestyle by committing crimes. For Seo-Ari climbing the ladder of these socialites, she learned that there are some formulas to it and she ended up streaming her experiences to the world. That being influencers has some type of formula.

The web of plot in this series is quite intricate because their story isn’t quite linear. It involves many characters and each of them comes with a set of stories that in the end goes back to the main character. What is intriguing about this series is the social commentary that attempts to explain the influencer phenomenon. While this series was released a while back, watching it in 2024 is still relevant. It doesn’t matter when instagram isn’t relevant anymore but there’s tiktok and youtube where such things happen.

As seen in the series, the way to get famous is to leech off someone famous. Somehow Seo-Ari was lucky because she already had a friend who was famous and in the circle. She is also stylish which sets her apart from just regular folks. It was in time when money eventually fixed her appearance and made her look even more stylish. In the end, she gained influential friends that ended up posting about her and that’s how she got her followers through exposure. I think that you can learn from her. These days, people reach out/engage with famous people so that others can also see their presence. Who knows people would start following you and you can become a celebrity overnight?

In celebrity, it was also discussed that this lavish lifestyle isn’t quite easy to maintain. Some sell their body to afford the expensive wardrobe and style. While they are not necessarily from a low-income background, it isn't enough to leisurely afford spending money whenever they can. In turn, they do whatever they could afford such a life while keeping that part private and only showcases their curated life. It somehow shows us that whatever we post in social media isn’t necessarily our actual life. I wouldn’t even trust anyone who told me it’s their raw life because in the end, anything we post is still filtered as we wanted to be seen in a certain way even more so when money is involved.

The series also shows that such life is quite fragile. While often we only see the good parts, these people's lives are filled with drama & troubles at every corner. Unless you’re pretty strong-minded and willed, think twice before you let K and M numbers of followers invade your privacy and space.

I wasn’t convinced when this series was released. I am not a fan of Park Gyu-young and rarely enjoy her series. I think a lot of her series lacked emotion and she has this arrogant aura about her. It felt the same in this series. It’s why it took me a while to check out this netflix series that was pretty famous and popular during its time. When I was convinced to check this out, the story turned out pretty intriguing. It’s one of those series that you didn’t expect to have such intriguing plots. What I also like about this series is how the story resonates with our daily life and something can be tried. I think the formula everywhere when it comes to becoming famous or well-known, is by networking with established influencers and being in their circle. By being in a certain circle, it could unlock money, power and sometimes leeway of doing things just like the common sayings “ Rules for thee and not for me” where often among these circles it’s just how it works.

Celebrity is certainly a recommended watch. It’s eye-opening and inspiring especially if you want to move up the ladder and become famous. Synopsis: Sent into space on a mission to collect a sample of cosmic dust that threatens planet Earth, astronaut Jakub Prochazka will soon discover that everything will be more complicated than he could have imagined.

One of the biggest challenges of movies that focus on building their development in “closed spaces” is to ensure that whoever is on the other side of the screen does not get bored with what they are watching. The lack of broader and more significant scenarios, as well as a deeper understanding of the characters' stories can easily destroy a project, and that is exactly what happens here, because despite the plot being very promising (and having extraordinary dramatic potential due to the very complexity of the themes that it can embrace), development is extremely precarious.

Betting everything on just one character (who in this case is astronaut Jakub Prochazka) to create all of its narratives, the script deals with themes that are very sensitive to human beings. The pain of a marriage that is coming to an end begins to torment the lonely astronaut, who during his mission begins to reflect on his own selfish and quite destructive nature (the main reason for the crisis in his relationship with his wife Lenka). A whirlwind of feelings in the middle of psychological chaos in space, where absolutely no one can help you.

There are many interesting seeds scattered throughout the plot. The loneliness of a character surrounded by nothingness. The fear and uncertainty of losing the great love of your life. The power of self-knowledge by realizing past mistakes and trying to change them at all costs before it's too late. The recognition of being just a small grain of sand in the middle of an immense desert (revealing the insignificance of the human being in the face of a much greater height). All of this is visible in the script, but nothing can be worked on deeply, giving it a very superficial atmosphere.

At one point in the movie (after some brief contacts with other humans on planet Earth, who are guiding him on the space mission), Jakub mysteriously discovers a gigantic spider on his spaceship, and inexplicably they form an unexpected friendship. Much more than that, they start true psychological duels with a philosophical bias, which had everything to be something intense, but ended up being just words thrown into space like cosmic dust disappearing into the air. In many moments the script is even too pretentious to be taken too seriously.

The great driving force of the entire movie (which is the protagonist's marriage) is practically apathetic, without any type of more intense emotion to justify its existence as the main drama. The chemistry between Adam Sandler and Carey Mulligan simply doesn't exist, and their respective performances oscillate between average and bad. Although it is interesting to see Sandler delivering unconventional performances to his artistic persona, the effort here is null because the result is ordinary. As for Mulligan, it's quite disappointing to see her talent being heavily unutilized.

The dilemmas worked around their marriage have some good moments, but there is nothing that justifies the more tense moments that the movie tries to bring. Separated by an immense distance, Jakub and Lena begin to reflect on their love relationship over the years, remembering facts that connect them as a couple (from the beginning of their romance to the moment of her pregnancy) and how they are dealing with everything. that. When Jakub realizes he is losing Lena for good, he begins a frantic search to save his marriage, which may be over.

Becoming the true protagonist of the movie, Hanus (who comes to life through the voice of the competent Paul Dano) brings a reflective tone to the plot, with a soft, comforting voice, but at the same time it is also intimidating. The huge spider creates a kind of bond with Jakub, who, lacking a human crew, leaves his problems in the paws of the captivating arachnid while dealing with his painful memories. A situation that happens gradually and gives the audience a “weird” experience, but which psychologically has a specific dramatic basis.

In other words, I could simply say that Spaceman is a great therapy session between a man who has difficulty creating bonds, maintaining bonds and listening to people (especially his own wife), with a spider of mysterious origin who has a philosophical soul. A Netflix production with good technical aspects, which focuses on self-discovery and human resilience in the search for redemption, but which cinematically is poorly developed or executed. Johan Renck directs this movie (which is based on the book written by Jaroslav Kalfar) with an expressionless look.

Todo ello se ve en el guion, pero no se puede trabajar nada en profundidad, dándole un aire muy superficial.

En un momento de la película (después de algunos breves contactos con otros humanos en el planeta Tierra, que lo guían en la misión espacial), Jakub descubre misteriosamente una araña gigantesca en su nave espacial, e inexplicablemente entablan una amistad inesperada. Mucho más que eso, inician verdaderos duelos psicológicos con un sesgo filosófico, que tenía todo para ser algo intenso, pero terminaron siendo sólo palabras lanzadas al espacio como polvo cósmico desapareciendo en el aire. En muchos momentos el guión es incluso demasiado pretencioso como para tomarlo demasiado en serio.

El gran motor de toda la película (que es el matrimonio de la protagonista) es prácticamente apático, sin ningún tipo de emoción más intensa que justifique su existencia como drama principal. La química entre Adam Sandler y Carey Mulligan simplemente no existe y sus respectivas actuaciones oscilan entre la media y la mala. A aranha enorme cria uma espécie de elo com Jakub, que na falta de uma tripulação humana, entrega seus problemas nas patas do cativante aracnídeo enquanto lidar com suas dolorosas lembranças. Uma situação que acontece de forma gradual e entrega ao público uma experiência “esquisita”, mas que psicologicamente tem uma base dramática pontual.

Em outras palavras, eu poderia dizer simplesmente que O Astronauta é uma grande sessão de terapia entre um homem com dificuldades de criar laços, manter elos e ouvir as pessoas (principalmente a própria esposa), com uma aranha de origem misteriosa que tem uma alma filosófica. Uma produção da Netflix com bons aspectos técnicos, que aposta na autodescoberta e na resiliência humana na busca de redenção, mas que cinematograficamente é mal desenvolvida ou executada. Johan Renck dirige esse filme (que é baseado no livro escrito por Jaroslav Kalfar) com um olhar inexpressivo.

La existencia de películas basadas en el holocausto, muestran historias crudas y fuertes, las cuales funcionan como relatos de eventos lamentables de una época que nunca debería repetirse; la mayoría de estas producciones son desde el punto de vista de millones de víctimas y de sus sobrevivientes y algunas pocas, por lo menos de las que he visto, están hechas desde el punto de vista de los victimarios; películas de diferentes géneros como drama, acción, thrillers y hasta parodias, son las usadas para enseñar parte de una historia de terror que es parte de la humanidad, justamente es eso lo que considero que es la película que hago reseña en esta publicación, una historia más del terror en la época de Nazis.

The existence of films based on the holocaust, show raw and strong stories, which function as accounts of regrettable events of a time that should never be repeated; most of these productions are from the point of view of millions of victims and their survivors and a few, at least the ones I have seen, are made from the point of view of the perpetrators; films of different genres such as drama, action, thrillers and even parodies, are used to show part of a history of terror that is part of humanity, and that is exactly what I consider the film I am reviewing in this publication to be, another history of terror in the Nazi era.

"The Zone of Interest", película originalmente estrenada en el pasado Cannes Film Festival quien después se dividió en tres estrenos en las salas de cine, primeramente a finales del 2023 en Estados Unidos y a principios de este año en el Reino Unido y Polonia, siendo estos dos últimos los países de origen de los productores de este film que actualmente está nominado a cinco Primos de la Academia, entre ellos al de Mejor Película. Su historia relata la vida de la "Familia Höss", conformada por "Rudolf Höss", su esposa "Hedwig" y sus cinco hijos; ellos son una familia que vive los beneficios de la posición que tiene Rudolf en el gobierno, una gran casa, mascota, jardín, piscina, servidumbre y respeto, pero todo eso puede cambiar cuando una orden del alto mando decide que Rudolf deba dejar su puesto como director del Campo de Concentración de Auschwitz.

"The Zone of Interest", a film originally premiered at the last Cannes Film Festival, which was later divided into three theatrical releases, first at the end of 2023 in the United States and early this year in the United Kingdom and Poland, the latter two being the countries of origin of the producers of this film, which is currently nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Its story tells the life of the "Höss Family", formed by "Rudolf Höss", his wife "Hedwig" and their five children; they are a family that lives the benefits of the position that Rudolf has in the government, a big house, pet, garden, swimming pool, servitude and respect, but all that can change when an order from the high command decides that Rudolf must leave his position as director of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

Mi interés por este film se da al momento de leer la sinopsis; inmediatamente pensé que está es una manera diferente de relatar un evento más que conocido, ya que explora el punto de vista no solamente de victimarios, sino de una pareja que tiene una "vida normal" en un hogar que está situada al lado de un campo de concentración en dónde murieron más de tres millones de personas; esta posible simpleza en presentar este film esconde un desarrollo en dónde la normalidad de una vida familiar esconde el terror que tiene justamente a un lado y es lo fascinante e incómodo de esta producción; es la manera demostrar tal como pudo describirlo Steven Spielberg, "La Banalidad del Mal" y esa es la manera perfecta de referirse sobre esta producción escrita y dirigida por Jonathan Glazer.

El trabajo direccional de Glazer pareciera ser simple en un principio, pero la realidad es que se toma el tiempo para mostrar ciertas tomas que nos van preparando para el desenlace de la historia. Existe un gran trabajo con respecto a filmar escenas en dónde todo se ve plano y pareciera estar viendo una obra teatral, pero lo que más me llamó la atención es las escenas en dónde el enfoque de un objeto hace que se cree profundidad en la escena, este es una práctica que toma más relevancia mientras va acercándose al final; me gustó mucho la manera de editar ciertas escenas, dónde una perspectiva tanto en el interior como el exterior de la casa porque de una manera la convierte en una protagonista más, es un objeto de poder, es un objeto de terror; este es el segundo film que veo dirigido por Glazer y quede fascinado.

My interest in this film is given when I read the synopsis; I immediately thought that this is a different way to relate a more than known event, as it explores the point of view not only of the victimizers, but of a couple that has a "normal life" in a home that is located next to a concentration camp where more than three million people died; this possible simplicity in presenting this film hides a development where the normality of a family life hides the terror that is right next to it and that is what is fascinating and uncomfortable about this production; it is the way to demonstrate as Steven Spielberg could describe it, "The Banality of Evil" and that is the perfect way to refer to this production written and directed by Jonathan Glazer.

The directional work by Glazer appears to be simple at first, but the reality is that he takes the time to show certain shots that set us up for the story's denouement. There is a great job with respect to filming scenes where everything looks flat and it seems to be watching a play, but what caught my attention is the scenes where the focus of an object creates depth in the scene, this is a practice that becomes more relevant as it approaches the end; I really liked the way of editing certain scenes, where a perspective both inside and outside the house because in a way it turns it into another protagonist, it is an object of power, it is an object of terror; this is the second film I've seen directed by Glazer and I was fascinated.

Cómo he dicho en anterioridad, la historia es relatada desde el punto de vista de una pareja quienes deben lidiar con lo cotidiano de sus responsabilidades, tanto en el trabajo como el del hogar, el asunto es que el trabajo es dirigir un campo de concentración y el hogar queda justamente al lado de dicho lugar; no hay manera de sentir un rechazo al pensar y escribir sobre eso y todo es debido a la actuación que realiza Christian Friedel como "Rudolf Höss" y de Sandra Hüller como "Hedwig Höss"; para describir el trabajo de Friedel puedo comenzar en que su actitud dentro de su hogar es de libertad y calma cuando está solo, demuestra un control ante todo, pero también la frustración a no ser verdaderamente reconocido por el puesto que ejerce, eso al frente de su gobierno y el de su esposa, persona que en mi opinión no esconde el orgullo de mantener el estatus que posee, disfruta lo que tiene y no piensa en perderlo; el personaje de Hedwig no esconde ser pasional con respecto a lo que representa, en cambio, Rudolf posee una tranquilidad y control al estar con sus iguales y subordinados, para así mantener una posición muy beneficiosa y esto por supuesto que demuestra diferencia entre ellos, pero también demuestra la maldad que practican solo por cómo ellos lo señalan, "vivir un sueño".

As I have said before, the story is told from the point of view of a couple who must deal with their daily responsibilities, both at work and at home, the thing is that the work is running a concentration camp and the home is right next to it; there is no way to feel a rejection when thinking and writing about it and it is all due to the performance of Christian Friedel as "Rudolf Höss" and of Sandra Hüller as "Hedwig Höss"; to describe the work of Friedel I can begin in that his attitude within his home is one of freedom and calm when he is alone, he demonstrates control above all, but also frustration at not being truly recognized for the position he holds, that in front of his government and that of his wife, a person who in my opinion does not hide the pride of maintaining the status he holds, enjoys what he has and does not think of losing it; Hedwig's character does not hide being passionate about what she represents, on the other hand, Rudolf has a calmness and control to be with his equals and subordinates, in order to maintain a very beneficial position and this of course shows the difference between them, but also shows the evil they practice just for how they say, "living a dream".

The Zone of Interest es un corto, pero poderoso film, es una historia que no trata de minimizar, ni suavizar lo referente al holocausto; este es un film que demuestra la normalidad de los viles actos cometidos hacia millones de personas, sus planes de exterminio, la normalidad y facilidad de como hacen referencia a ciertas prácticas mortales, su influencia en la vida de los jóvenes, su uso errado del poder, la imposición y el terror, creo que está es una de las historias más crudas sobre el holocausto y en dónde no hay necesidad de mostrar lo que se le hizo a cada víctima de esos campos, solo con los sonidos, gritos, quejas, disparos, ver el humo de los hornos crematorios fue suficiente para ver todo el mal que se hizo, eso hace que este film sea incómodo, molesto y a la vez con un mensaje poderoso y es por eso que cada quien debería de ver este film, no es solo uno de los mejores del pasado año y del actual, debe ser uno a considerar en el futuro como muchos otros.

The Zone of Interest is a short, but powerful film, it is a story that does not try to minimize or soften the holocaust; this is a film that demonstrates the normality of the vile acts committed against millions of people, their extermination plans, the normality and ease of how they refer to certain deadly practices, their influence on the lives of young people, their misuse of power, imposition and terror, I think this is one of the rawest stories about the holocaust and where there is no need to show what was done to each victim of those camps, just with the sounds, screams, complaints, gunshots, seeing the smoke from the crematoria ovens was enough to see all the evil that was done, that makes this film uncomfortable, disturbing and at the same time with a powerful message and that is why everyone should see this film, it is not only one of the best of the past year and the current one, it should be one to consider in the future like many others.

Two strangers with completely different personalities need to share the same roof to face the most diverse types of missions. They give up their own lives to work performing different tasks for a mysterious agency, which requires common, everyday skills from them to get the job done. By “chance” they end up becoming husband and wife, but they also become spies. Now it's time to fight to survive.

Amid a monotonous development, the plot presents John and Jane Smith in a very conventional way, without offering anything new at first glance. Throughout the first episode (which has a very lazy pace), the script relies heavily on the involvement between the protagonists, but it seems to have forgotten to present one of its main proposals: the adrenaline of the world of espionage. This breaking point is very out of adjustment.

If on the one hand the television series succeeds in creating more common dialogue that is closer to a more believable reality between the protagonists, on the other hand, it fails (at least in this first episode) in not delivering entertainment focused on adrenaline. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine deliver good performances and have a certain chemistry on screen, but everything surrounding their existence as spies is very superficial and the deepening of their mission is very specific.

A spy story where the protagonists practically have a couples therapy session doesn't exactly seem like the best approach for a television series that ends up being based on an action movie. Perhaps the proposal for this project is something less “plastic” and more “natural”. In this aspect, if it really is the direction of the project, betting on a more intense and emotional development of the characters themselves will be its differentiator.

Even though it was an initial episode lacking anything more explosive, the script already presented its narrative structure well. Betting on elements of everyday life to intertwine its protagonists, who after this first episode begin to question themselves about the decision they made when deciding to work as spies for people they have no idea who they are. This point of reflection ends up opening space to work on dramatic elements in the series.

Technically I didn't find the production interesting. On the contrary, I found it all too simple. Not that this is necessarily a problem, but everything seems too “ordinary” compared to the premise of the plot itself (which in the next episodes will require more interesting budgets to be able to convince the public). This first episode didn't convince me, but I'll continue watching because I think the duo of Glover and Erskine is very good.

Dos desconocidos con personalidades completamente diferentes necesitan compartir el mismo techo para afrontar los más diversos tipos de misiones. Renuncian a sus propias vidas para trabajar realizando diferentes tareas para una agencia misteriosa, que requiere de ellos habilidades comunes y cotidianas para realizar el trabajo. Por “casualidad” acaban convirtiéndose en marido y mujer, pero también se convierten en espías. Ahora es el momento de luchar para sobrevivir.

En medio de un desarrollo monótono, la trama presenta a John y Jane Smith de una forma muy convencional, sin ofrecer nada nuevo a primera vista. A lo largo del primer episodio (que tiene un ritmo muy pausado), el guión apuesta mucho por la implicación entre los protagonistas, pero parece haber olvidado presentar una de sus principales propuestas: la adrenalina del mundo del espionaje. Este punto de ruptura es extremadamente inapropiado.

Si, por un lado, la serie de televisión consigue crear un diálogo más común y más cercano a una realidad más creíble entre los protagonistas, por otro lado, fracasa (al menos en este primer episodio) en no ofrecer un entretenimiento centrado en la adrenalina. Donald Glover y Maya Erskine realizan buenas actuaciones y tienen cierta química en pantalla, pero todo lo que rodea su existencia como espías es muy superficial y la profundización de su misión es umy puntual.

Una historia de espías donde los protagonistas prácticamente realizan una sesión de terapia de pareja no parece precisamente el mejor planteamiento para una serie de televisión que acaba basándose en una película de acción. Quizás la propuesta de este proyecto sea algo menos “plástico” y más “natural”. En este aspecto, si realmente es la dirección del proyecto, apostar por un desarrollo más intenso y emocional de los propios personajes será su diferenciador.

Aunque fue un episodio inicial al que le faltaba algo más explosivo, el guión ya presentaba bien su estructura narrativa. Apostando por elementos de la vida cotidiana para entrelazar a sus protagonistas, quienes tras este primer episodio comienzan a cuestionarse sobre la decisión que tomaron al decidir trabajar como espías para personas que no tienen idea de quiénes son. Este punto de reflexión termina abriendo espacio para trabajar elementos dramáticos de la serie.

Técnicamente no encontré interesante la producción. Al contrario, lo encontré demasiado sencillo. No es que esto sea necesariamente un problema, pero todo parece demasiado “ordinario” en comparación con la premisa de la trama en sí (que en los próximos episodios requerirá presupuestos más interesantes para poder convencer al público). Este primer episodio no me convenció, pero lo seguiré viendo porque creo que el dúo de Glover y Erskine es muy bueno.

Eles abrem mão de suas próprias vidas para trabalharem realizando diferentes tarefas para uma misteriosa agência, que exige deles habilidades comuns do dia-a-dia para que o trabalho seja feito. Por obra do “acaso” eles acabam se tornando marido e mulher, mas também se tornaram espiões. Agora, é lutar para sobreviver.

Em meio a um desenvolvimento monótono, a trama apresenta John e Jane Smith de uma maneira muito convencional, sem oferecer nada de novo à primeira vista. Ao longo do primeiro episódio (que tem um ritmo bastante preguiçoso), o roteiro aposta muito forte no envolvimento entre os protagonistas, mas parece que esqueceu de apresentar uma de suas principais propostas: a adrenalina do mundo da espionagem. Esse ponto de ruptura é extremamente desajustado.

Se por um lado a série de televisão acerta criando diálogo mais comuns e próximos de uma realidade mais crível entre os protagonistas, por outro, ela falha (ao menos deste primeiro episódio) em não entregar entretenimento focado em adrenalida. Donald Glover e Maya Erskine entregam boas performances e tem uma certa química na tela, mas tudo o que ronda a existência deles enquanto espiões é bem superficial e o aprofundamento na missão deles é muito pontual.

Uma história de espionagem onde os protagonistas praticamente fazem uma sessão de terapia de casal não me parece exatamente à melhor abordagem para uma série de televisão que acaba sendo baseada em um filme de ação. Talvez, a proposta deste projeto seja algo menos “plástico” e mais “natural”. Neste aspecto, se realmente for o direcionamento do projeto, apostar em um desenvolvimento mais intenso e emocional dos próprios personagens será o seu diferencial.

Mesmo sendo um episódio inicial carente de algo mais explosivo, o roteiro já apresentou bem à sua estrutura narrativa. Apostando em elementos da vida cotidiana para entrelaçar os seus protagonistas, que ao logo deste primeiro episódio já começam a se questionar sobre a decisão que tomaram ao decidirem trabalhar como espiões para pessoas que eles nem imaginam quem seja. Esse ponto de reflexão acaba abrindo espaço para trabalhar elementos dramáticos na série.

Tecnicamente eu não achei a produção interessante. Ao contrário, achei tudo até simplório demais. Não que isso seja necessariamente um problema, mas tudo parece ser “ordinário” demais em comparação à premissa da própria trama (que nos próximos episódios exigirá orçamentos mais interessantes para conseguir convencer o público). Esse primeiro episódio não me convenceu, mas eu irei continuar a assistir porque eu acho que a dupla Glover e Erskine é muito boa.

Hello friends! Today I'm here to tell you about the Percy Jackson and The Olimpians series that I had the pleasure of finishing over the weekend and I'm telling you that I loved it.

Trama - Plot

Percy es un niño de 12 que siempre se sintió diferente al resto, su madre solía contarle historias sobre los dioses griegos y la mitología, hasta que un día descubre que es un semidiós y que todas estas historias eran reales. Al mismo momento que se entera de su identidad es atacado por poderosos monstruos y en el trayecto hacia el campamento mestizo donde estará a salvo, pierde a su madre. Allí es informado de todo y empieza su entrenamiento de mestizo, pero Percy quiere saber qué pasó con su madre y cuál será el Dios que lo reclamé como su hijo. Sin embargo, las cosas no son tan simples, Zeus lo acusa de haberle robado su rayo maestro y planea una guerra contra su padre si no lo devuelve. Así que ahora Percy deberá resolver el misterio del rayo, pelear contra peligrosas criaturas de un mundo que le es extraño y familiar a la vez, recuperar a su madre y evitar la guerra entre dioses. 

Percy is a 12 year old boy who always felt different from the rest, his mother used to tell him stories about Greek gods and mythology, until one day he discovers that he is a demigod and that all these stories were real. At the same moment he learns his identity he is attacked by powerful monsters and on the way to the half-breed camp where he will be safe, he loses his mother. There he is informed of everything and begins his half-breed training, but Percy wants to know what happened to his mother and which God will claim him as her son. However, things are not so simple, Zeus accuses him of having stolen his master ray and plans a war against his father if he does not return it. So now Percy must solve the mystery of the lightning, fight against dangerous creatures of a world that is strange and familiar at the same time, recover his mother and avoid the war between gods.

Reseña - Review

Mi niña interna amante de la mitología adoro esta serie, no tuve el placer de leer los libros aunque siempre me dieron curiosidad, pero hay sagas que deje pasar porque ya tenía muchas obsesiones con libros en mi adolescencia jajajaja. Ver esta serie renovó mi espíritu de querer leerlos, así que no lo descarto. Como verán, no puedo enfocarme mucho en si es fiel como adaptación literaria, lo que sí sé es que es una muy buena serie mitológica, aunque mezcla un poco de fantasía.

My inner child mythology lover adores this series, I didn't have the pleasure of reading the books although I was always curious about them, but there are sagas that I let pass because I already had many obsessions with books in my adolescence hahahaha. Watching this series renewed my spirit of wanting to read them, so I'm not ruling it out. As you will see, I can't focus much on whether it is faithful as a literary adaptation, what I do know is that it is a very good mythological series, although it mixes a bit of fantasy.

La historia de Percy me fascinó, desde el vínculo con su madre, hasta las relaciones de amistad que fue formando en su viaje de descubrimientos. Ver a tantos dioses e historias personificados fue bastante agradable, ya que me los podía imaginar siendo de esa manera. Cada uno con sus vicios y su personalidad, algunos sentí que los caracterizaron un tanto mediocres, no eran muy imponentes, creo que ese es el único fallo, porque para mí un dios debe verse y sentirse poderoso, y no dejarse engañar por niños. Sin embargo, esto me hace pensar que también es parte de lo que buscaban, ya que hacen ver qué los dioses están lejos de ser perfectos y cometen equivocaciones como cualquier persona. 

Percy's story fascinated me, from the bond with his mother, to the friendships he formed on his journey of discovery. Seeing so many gods and stories personified was quite enjoyable, as I could imagine them being that way. Each one with his vices and personality, some I felt they were characterized as somewhat mediocre, they were not very imposing, I think that's the only flaw, because for me a god should look and feel powerful, and not be fooled by children. However, this makes me think that this is also part of what they were looking for, since they make it clear that the gods are far from perfect and make mistakes just like anyone else.

Me encantó ver tanta historia mitológica cobrar vida, medusa, las moiras, las criaturas demoníacas, se vio todo bastante bonito, aunque esperaba más del Olimpo y el inframundo. Se vio un poco sin vida esto último, pero creo que puede mejorar y seguro que haya más viajes a estos lugares en futuras temporadas.

I loved seeing so much mythological history come to life, Medusa, the moiras, the demonic creatures, it all looked quite nice, although I was expecting more of Olympus and the underworld. It looked a bit lifeless the latter, but I think it can get better and for sure there will be more trips to these places in future seasons.

También encontré cierta similitud de cosas con Harry Potter, hubiera sido genial leerlo en su momento, pero creo que ahora van a volver a cobrar relevancia estos libros. Así que espero que muchos niños se embarquen en el camino de la lectura con esta saga, como muchos lo hicimos con Harry Potter, Crepúsculo y Los Juegos del Hambre en su momento.

I also found some similarity of things with Harry Potter, it would have been great to read it at the time, but I think now these books are going to become relevant again. So I hope many kids will embark on the reading journey with this saga, as many of us did with Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games back in the day.

Me gustó la historia que mostraron y contaron, me pareció entretenida, los capítulos son cortos y se puede maratonear en un día para el que quiera verla. Se puede sentir infantil de primera mano, pero pienso que a medida que crezcan los protagonistas la historia se tornará más oscura con el paso del tiempo. Me agrada que eligieran actores de la edad correspondiente y caras nuevas que observar. Ya quiero ver cómo continuará esta aventura. 

I liked the story they showed and told, I found it entertaining, the chapters are short and can be marathoned in a day for those who want to watch it. It can feel childish at first hand, but I think that as the protagonists grow up the story will become darker as time goes by. I like that they chose actors of the corresponding age and new faces to watch. I already want to see how this adventure will continue.
