I'm kind of not very active around here right now but you know, lots of holidays around and most people think about relaxing and I'm evidently one of those people. Today I was technically reminded of a series that Netflix made a few years ago and caused a stir, the one about that blonde homosexual killer (that even some girls consider handsome, I don't know where), many people were horrified because a fashion was created from him, in a kind of praise that was reflected in holidays like Halloween, where you could see people dressed up as him, nothing worse than that, just think of the families of the victims, seeing the representation of the killer of your family member everywhere, it must not feel very nice to say. For me in particular, what attracted me to watch the series is that it features the magnificent Evan Peters in the lead role, one of my favourite actors since I saw the first season of American Horror Story, well known in the acting world for knowing how to play murderers and people who are not right in the head, without his participation I don't think I would have even thought about watching the series. So now that we're here, having seen a few episodes of the series, let's talk a little about Dahmer, one of Netflix's most famous works in recent years.

A mí en lo particular más que nada, lo que me atrajo para ver la serie es que sale el magnífico Evan Peters en el protagónico, uno de mis actores favoritos desde que vi la primera temporada de American Horror Story, muy conocido dentro del mundo actoral por saber interpretar asesinos y gente que no está bien de la cabeza, sin la participación de él creo que ni me hubiera pensado en ver la serie. Este film fue dirigido por Richard Donner, mítico director que nos dio "The Omen", "Superman", "The Goonies" y las cuatro películas de la franquicia de "Lethal Weapon"; en esta oportunidad este director realiza una producción en dónde la comedia es el principal género de la historia, pero también se nota influencia del género del terror, romance y breves secuencias de acción, más que nada por lo físico del humor lo cual es lo que considero perfecto del film; este film tiene muchos cambios de escenas que se llevan a cabo en diferentes años y la transición dependiendo del fantasma que visita a Frank es natural, es un trabajo bien realizado porque función con el humor, ya que por momentos, el protagonista debe sentir que lo que sucede proviene de su imaginación.

Hay muchas opciones de films de Navidad, pero creo que a finales de los 80' hubo un estilo, en donde se alejó de lo habitual en la manera de hacer películas de navidad y por eso películas como "Die Hard", Home Alone, "Batman Return", "Lethal Weapon" y "Scrooged" tienen ese estilo crudo, divertido y navideño que pocas veces he visto en la actualidad y es por eso que ese grupo de films sean mis favoritos de esta época.

There are many options of Christmas films, but I think that in the late 80's there was a style, where they moved away from the usual way of making Christmas movies and that's why films like "Die Hard", Home Alone, "Batman Return", "Lethal Weapon" and "Scrooged" have that raw, funny and Christmas style that I have rarely seen nowadays and that's why that group of films are my favorites of this time of the year.

I think I have fallen to my lowest point, writing this a few minutes before Christmas just because of the remorse of not having written this week, but what can you do, that's life, sometimes you are not convinced by the films you see and you feel it's not worth reviewing them and when you find one you like, you don't find the courage to write about it either, the hard and difficult life of a writer. Lo que logra muy bien la película es dejarte con esa pregunta de por qué John du Pont hace lo que hace al final, cuál es su motivo, la razón de su comportamiento y es que al final es algo, un hecho que se traslada a la realidad y del cual nunca se tendrá respuesta alguna, simplemente le atribuyeron locura a John du Pont debido a su paranoia fuerte por consumo de cocaína. Yo simplemente creo que du Pont sabía lo que hacía y disparó a traición, convirtiéndose desde mi perspectiva en un cobarde pero en fin, una gran película que narra de forma majestuosa un hecho real.

I really liked the romantic story, this time I felt that there was chemistry between the two characters. In movies, there are different types of Christmas plots that have already been told (and many of them have become classics), but do you know which one was the first? Long before any movie became popular because of Christmas, there was a precursor of unquestionable quality.

In this text (which is another one of my entries for the Movies & TV Shows community's Christmas contest), my idea is to write about the first Christmas movie in the movie industry and how it managed to bring inspiration. The name of the movie is Santa Claus, and the simple plot (but which has its own identity) revolves around two children who are getting ready for bed by a babysitter, as they anxiously await the arrival of a very special guest: the Santa Claus who enters through the chimney and brings gifts.

Released by Lubin Films in September 1898 (so obviously it is an extremely short work, but very significant and representative in different spheres due to its context and narrative and technical novelty), the project, of British origin, was directed by George Albert Smith and starring Laura Bayley, Dorothy Smith and Harold Smith. Using the image overlay technique (something quite innovative and which certainly requires a very high professional level to generate a good result), Smith created a magnificent project that gained some worldwide visibility.

Visibility not only because of its possible commercial appeal (which did not exist at that time, after all, cinema was still taking its first steps after its recent birth), but because of the inventive and creative aspect of its plot, which ended up bringing popularity even greater for the Christmas season and also had a direct impact on the filming method in some types of scenes with “daring” takes for the technological standard available until then (something that I consider admirable, mainly due to its pioneering spirit in an art that has just to be born).

I really appreciate this technique of overlapping images, and the way Smith worked all of this to create this short movie fascinates me because it is something so simple, but at the same time, something so significant due to its direct narrative context, mixed with a magical aspect that can be visibly perceptible through the organization of work involving editing of scenes that favor this idea. A work truly worthy of always being remembered, and certainly many people around the world are still unaware of it because it is an extremely old movie.

Even though it is such a short and experimental work, it is quite obvious to see (if you have actually seen Christmas being portrayed in many movies, television series or music videos) how much it managed to influence the creation of so many other projects. The references are notorious and even though it is so unknown to the general public (and not so recognized within the industry itself), the merits of having been a precursor within an industry at an early stage can never be taken away. This “stamp” of originality is something surreal and will certainly always be valid.

En este texto (que es otra de mis entradas para el concurso navideño de la comunidad Movies & TV Shows), mi idea es escribir sobre la primera película navideña en la industria cinematográfica y cómo logró traer inspiración. El nombre de la película es Santa Claus, y la trama sencilla (pero que tiene identidad propia) gira en torno a dos niños que una niñera prepara para acostarse, mientras esperan ansiosos la llegada de un invitado muy especial: Papá Noel. que entra por la chimenea y trae regalos.

Estrenada por Lubin Films en septiembre de 1898 (por lo que evidentemente se trata de una obra cortísima, pero muy significativa y representativa en distintos ámbitos por su contexto y su novedad narrativa y técnica), el proyecto, de origen británico, fue dirigido por George Albert Smith y protagonizada por Laura Bayley, Dorothy Smith y Harold Smith. Utilizando la técnica de superposición de imágenes (algo bastante innovador y que sin duda requiere de un altísimo nivel profesional para generar un buen resultado), Smith creó un magnífico proyecto que ganó visibilidad mundial.

Visibilidad no sólo por su posible atractivo comercial (que no existía en aquel momento, al fin y al cabo, el cine aún estaba dando sus primeros pasos tras su reciente nacimiento), sino por el aspecto inventivo y creativo de su trama, que acabó por atraer popularidad aún mayor para las fechas navideñas y también incidió directamente en el método de rodaje en algunos tipos de escenas con tomas “atrevidas” para el estándar tecnológico disponible hasta entonces (algo que considero admirable, principalmente por su espíritu pionero en un arte que acaba de nacer).

Realmente aprecio esta técnica de superposición de imágenes, y la forma en que Smith trabajó todo esto para crear este cortometraje me fascina porque es algo tan simple, pero al mismo tiempo, algo tan significativo por su contexto narrativo directo, mezclado con una Aspecto mágico que puede ser visiblemente perceptible a través de la organización del trabajo que implica el montaje de escenas que favorecen esta idea. Una obra verdaderamente digna de ser recordada siempre, y seguro que muchas personas alrededor del mundo aún la desconocen por ser una película sumamente antigua.

Aunque se trata de una obra tan breve y experimental, es bastante obvio ver (si has visto la Navidad retratada en muchas películas, series de televisión o vídeos musicales) cuánto logró influir en la creación de tantos otros proyectos. Las referencias son notorias y si bien es tan desconocido para el gran público (y no tan reconocido dentro de la propia industria), nunca se le pueden quitar los méritos de haber sido precursor dentro de una industria en una etapa temprana. Este “sello” de originalidad es algo surrealista y seguramente siempre estará vigente.

O primeiro filme natalino da história cinematográfica.

Dezembro é um mês extremamente popular quando nós falamos sobre as produções de audiovisuais (filmes, séries de televisão ou vídeos musicais) porque o Natal impulsiona o desenvolvimento, à criação e o lançamento desses projetos porque é uma época comercial muito rentável para os estúdios e para as produtoras. Nos filmes, há diferentes tipos de tramas natalinas que já foram contadas (e muitas delas já se tornaram clássicas), mas você sabe qual foi à primeira? Muito antes de qualquer filme se tornar popular por causa do Natal, houve um precursor de qualidade inquestionável.

Neste texto (que é mais uma das minhas participações para o concurso natalino da comunidade Movies & TV Shows), a minha ideia é escrever sobre o primeiro filme natalino que se tem notícia dentro da indústria cinematográfica e como ele conseguiu trazer inspirações. O nome do filme é Papai Noel, e à trama simples (mas que tem à sua própria identidade) gira em torno de duas crianças que estão se preparando para dormir por uma babá, enquanto elas esperam ansiosamente pela chegada de um convidado muito especial: o Papai Noel que entra pela chaminé e traz os presentes.

Lançado pela Lubin Films em setembro de 1898 (então obviamente trata-se de um trabalho extremamente curto, mas muito significativo e representativo em diferentes esferas pelo seu contexto e ineditismo narrativo e técnico), o projeto uma origem britânica, foi dirigido por George Albert Smith e estrelado por Laura Bayley, Dorothy Smith e Harold Smith. Utilizando a técnica de sobreposição de imagens (algo bastante inovador e que com certeza exigir um altíssimo nível profissional para gerar um bom resultado), Smith criou um projeto magnífico e que ganhou certa visibilidade mundial.

Visibilidade não unicamente por causa do seu possível apelo comercial (que naquela época não existia, afinal, o cinema estava ainda dando os seus primeiros passos após o seu recente nascimento), mas pelo aspecto inventivo e criativo de sua trama, que acabou trazendo uma popularidade ainda maior para a época natalina e também impactou diretamente no método de filmagem em alguns tipos de cenas com takes “ousados” para o padrão tecnológico disponível até então (algo que eu considero como admirável, principalmente por todo seu pioneirismo em uma arte que acabou de nascer).

Eu aprecio demais essa técnica de sobreposição de imagens, e o modo como Smith trabalhou tudo isso para criar esse curta-metragem me fascina por ser algo tão simples, mas ao mesmo tempo, algo tão significativo pelo seu contexto de narrativa direto, mesclado com um aspecto mágico que consegue ser visivelmente perceptível pela organização de um trabalho envolvendo edição de cenas que favorecem essa ideia. Um trabalho realmente digno de ser sempre lembrado, e que com certeza muitas de pessoas ao redor do mundo ainda o desconhecem por ser um filme extremamente antigo.

Mesmo sendo um trabalho tão curto e tão experimental, fica um tanto óbvio perceber (se você realmente já assistiu o Natal sendo retratado em muitos filmes, séries de televisão ou vídeos musicais) o quanto ele conseguiu influenciar na criação de tantos outros projetos. As referências são notórias e ainda que seja tão desconhecido do grande público (e não tão reconhecido dentro da própria indústria), os méritos de ter sido o precursor dentro de uma indústria em fase inicial nunca poderão ser retirados. Esse “carimbo” de ineditismo é algo surreal e que com certeza sempre será válido.

What Was Meant to Be, episode eight of The Wheel of Time Season Two, for me; could be the best episode of a TV series on 2023, everything that was meant to be happen, not necessary as Moiraine thought it would happen since Selene (Lanfear) had a lot to do with it, in fact she was the reason all this happen, she fool Ishamael all the time, she rescue Rand from Amyrlin Seat setting on fire the town as a distraction, took Moiraine and Lan to the exact spot where she could attack Lady Surtoh ships and all this because she loves Rand, really the OG dragon; this time seems she is focus more than ever to help him but at the end her goal is to have him for her but this is something not clear for me because when she was going to do something about it a few episodes back Moiraine show up and cut her through, I have not read the books so all I know is what I have seen so far. Another interesting topic is how Ishamael was imprison with the rest of the forsaken by Lews who was the reincarnation of The Dragon, they were "friends" but had different opinions about The Wheel, Ishamael wanted to distroy it probably he has a similar kind of though like Thanos, why suffer when he can end it all while Lews knew this was not the way, season leaves me with quite a few questions of whats next on season three, at this point everyone has a good control of their power including Perrin, Mat never had any powers he was just destine to do certain things since he was part of Rand inner circle.

Season two started very slow for that getting some what low scores of 7/10 but after episode three things started to pick up the pace rapidly to the point that every episode was a hit, out of the eight episodes it average a score of 8/10 on IMDB, considering the first episode got a 7.1 and the last episode a 9/10 showing in numbers how good this episode was its just pure and constant dopamine rush that kept me to the edge, it is in fact so good of an episode and has so many details that I saw it more than twice.

To this day I don't know who free Ishamael but at least now I know who imprison him, good old Dragon back in the day who was his "friend" knew Ishamael was a serious problem to deal with and the rest of the forsaken so he put them inside rocks that serve as prison where they will be alive but not aware of time, this seal was suppose to be so strong that not even Lews would be able to break it so how Ishamael got out and then how did he free the rest of the forsaken including Lanfear??

Once again Lanfear shows Rand she is the only one who really care for him but specifically told him the rest only care for what he can do when she doesn't so this clear out the question she is not after his powers? because that would be the most obvious answer, during this entire process as I mention, Lanfear was the one pulling the strings and putting all the pieces in place so Rand can win this battle, Lanfear still have bone to pick with Moiraine, if she provoke Lanfear and Rand is not there to get in the middle I'm sure she would not hesitate to take Moirinae life, once again Lanfear helps Moiraine and Rand, dropping Moiraine close to Falme but far enough so she could claim the Dragon with a fire banner on the sky as she mention but this distance also gave her the perfect strategy to attack the city from far away, on top she now has Lan to cover her back again.

I just love how Lanfera manipulate Ishamael, he knows it but has no other option on the other hand Rand tries to manipulate her with cheap tricks and even having all that power she agrees every time he ask for help and she likes it, so hilarious. Now I understand Ishamael wanted more time, from the start he was trying to make Rand feel everyone abandon him because that story that the Dragon eventually kills everyone so far doesn't fit with Rand, he was not going to kill his friends so Ishamael had no other option to separate them, for some time it work but Ishamael worst mistake was to awake Lanfear thinking she was going to kill Rand.

This is one of the best Karma scenes I have seen this year, on previous episode Egwene told Renna, "I'm going to kill you" and Renna did nothing, but the worst of not doing anything is that she didn't realize Egwene just went over the adam, she though of ways to hurt her suldam, that's rule number one you cant hurt your suldam or even think about it. Renna keeps provoking Egwene, the city is under attack and all suldam and damane need to defend it, when a damane refuse orders during battle first punishment is cut her tongue and second her hands, Renna cut Egwene hair to show off her power while still holding the leach, Egwene was like bitch did you just cut my hair?? That look on Egwene before she start attacking the white cloaks who are invading the city said it all.

Ishamael is highly suspicious that Lanfear is going to betray him mainly because he feels she is rushing things and been so sure that Rand is going to switch sides on top of that Turak the leader of seanchan was murder by Rand but he has an ace with him, Mat is "suppose" to kill Rand but Kim did said many times that her visions not always become true, temptation knocks at Mat's door, Padan Fain brought him the dagger that once posses him and the one he will use to kill Rand, Mat knows he is not strong enough not to touch it so went around and made a spear out of it, problem solved right? not really.

The episode is about Rand been declare as The Dragon but in my opinion this was Egwene episode, Nynaeve is suppose to be way stronger than Egwene something that might come up on season three but for how the one that has shown her powers more than anyone else is Egwene, she is not only strong and pretty but so fucking smart, the tower gets hit badly by the White Cloak army, a big rock hit them and some suldam and damene die but not Renna and Egwene, she use the opportunity to gram an adam collar from a dead sedai and wait for the exact moment to put it on Renna's neck, so they are both suldam and damane, takes the big risk to hang Renna by the collar and waits to find out who will die first or who forfeit and release the other from the adam, eventually Renna accept because she doesn't want to die expecting Egwene to release her from the adam and to my joy she doesn't and watch Renna die kicking and screaming while hanging from pilar.

During previous episodes I constantly complain about some characters that basically do shit, two of them are Mat and Perrin, well Mat in fact hurt Rand badly, it did not play out exactly as Ishamael though but he did set a trap so Mat tries to kill him from behind but Ishamael some how predict it and it was an ilusion, ends up stabing Mat and almost kill him if it wasn't by Egwene, Perrin and Elayne, btw Nynaeve did't do shit during this episode, yes its me complaining again but its just so stagnating with some of this characters, I wonder if on the books its like this?

Egwene stand against Ishamael taking almost all his attacks so thats shows she might go hand to hand with some of the forsaken, until Perrin shows up with a shield that was giving to him by Uno who is now one of the Heroes of the Horn so there must be something special about that help Egwene hold the attacks until Elayne is healing Rand, there is a scene I did not show and thats Moiraine attacking the Seanchan ships with damane holding down Rand, after the ships are destroy and Elayne heal Rand he was then able to kill Ishamael.

The scene that sets Season 3, the seals for the rest of the forsaken are broken, every single one is free now, Lanfear is the only one on Rand side, she is suppose to be the strongest one of all them but there was something about Moghedien, another forsaken; that scare the shit out of her or was it the fact that they are all free against Rand? Lanfear thought everything went acording to her plan but she never thought Ishamael could or would free the rest of the forsaken.

Ishamael is gone now, Seachan's are done too but there is a bigger threat and that is the other forsaken together after The Dragon now that everyone knows its Rand, truth is that Rand and his friends now know how to control their powers way better that the start of the season but how powerful the forsaken are? Egwene and Rand can exchange blows with them but is the White Tower and Aes Sedais be on their side too? considering Moiraine and the Amyrlin Seat are not in good terms? this puts Rand in the middle of multiple battles on top of this a small civil war against the White Cloaks, this make think they might be surrounded, more powerful than before but more direct enemies than before so it won't be easy to stay alive, another question that is left hanging is on what side will Lanfear be? what are her true motives to be with Rand? she keeps saying she loves him and is the only one not after his powers? I'm sure season three will be as explosive as season two.

There are some TV series and movies that when it comes to make my post about it, a recap trying to narrate the events that I consider the most important or make the more impact for me, there could be so many details that I kind of hate the process of creating the post although once it is done it feels very satisfying, WOT is one of those TV series probably why it took me some time to create the post, didn't want it to be short and cover my favorite events during this episode, same thing happens to me with For All Mankind.

Going Home, Episode Six of Daryl Dixon, Season 1; in my opinion almost fall too simple towards the end too predictable but its expected that they reach their destiny but when Carol show up probably because I have seen her from the OG series it was a rush got to say, as always she looks so calm and now older that you would never expect her to kick your ass but also out smart you but she can. The episodes starts where it left with Daryl facing Zombies in an arena now that Genet got them all including Laurent, her main idea is to show off her power and make others believe Laurent and her are working together to unite people but thats just not true, she is really looking to establish her regime all over France and Daryl has become a stone on the road after he single handed almost destroy one of her ship with a ton of Zombies they were running experiments on, particulary one who was very strong and agile to be a Zombie, I wonder were this experiments go on season two if she will finally raise a Zombie army and it is already known that Laurent has some sort of influence over Zombies most likely because when his mother was on labor she was already bitten, infected with the virus but it never fully went into Laurent, reason why they kept saying he is a miracle, his mother turns into a Zombie right after labor when she died.

Compare to Dead City, Daryl Dixon was way better probably because it was a bit more rudimentary not sure if thats the word, Dead City was in Manhattan and Daryl Dixon happens on so many places, the go through France to reach The Nest, from open fields to a rusty Paris with the Eiffel Tower swinging from side to side almost singing, really enjoy this series and now finally make my last post about season one.

The fight scene was a great opening to the last episode of season one, at first Genet thought she was going get away with killing Daryl in front of all this people and show off her power to increase the support from Paris population, how many times have we seen Daryl fight more than three Zombies at the same time although this are not normie Zombies, Genet had her scientist develop some kind of drug that jap the Zombies making them go 0 to 100 real quick, more like Zombies from World War Z, if we can get those in masses for season two would be sick!!!

Probably Genet best chance was to tire Daryl fighting Quinn and then let go the Zombies but she was so sure her plan was going to work, look at her smug smile, well that change real quick after Daryl and Quinn started to work together and annihilate her Zombies, there was one with metal around his head that even attack another Zombie, its still very grey area how to control them properly to know who the enemy is.

So far Daryl Dixon has another thing that is very similar to the OG series and that's the tones and colors of scenes, its always that dark greenish theme on all scenes, I remember with the OG series at some point the intro made me sad just listening to the song and all the dark green color makes you feel sad about the thing but you still wanted to watch it, obviously Daryl was not going to die on season one there still gas in the tank but who did had to die Quinn, after all he was brought from the death after Isabelle abandon him when Zombies started to pup up, Quinn had to pay a high price.

Karma, Irony and Coincidence kick in hard on episode six, this is when I think the episode started to became too predictable and then what are the odds some of this things to happen to Quinn? probably was the perfect Karma payback

• Zombie bites him in the back
• He agree to Daryl cut his hand off to get free
• Laurent stab him in the head after he turn

Karma is a bitch!! the amount of payback in a single episode, consider he confess Isabelle he was fucking her sister, Laurent's mother; he also told Isabelle to get rid of her sister and drop her at a near hospital so they can move on to then many years latter when he realize who Laurent is try to claim him as his son and asks Isabelle to be with him, even force her to do it leaving her without many options in exchange for a ticket on a ship or some how get Daryl into a ship to USA, the irony on all this was that Laurent had to kill him and that sux because imagine a kid under that circumstances he basically killed both his parents, his mom during labor and then had to stab Quinn on the head to protect Isabelle, none of those were his fault but still if we go to numbers he is 2-0.

I didn't like how easy Daryl escape the compound, that's the magic of TV; the first car he check on he finds his back with all his stuff even his blade and "medieval flail", I had to look that up lol; on top meters close to him was Fallou to help him get a truck running, he knows mechanic because his uncle had a shop??; it became so predictable and unreal at this point, who didn't imagine Quinn was going to turn and attack them I think that was obvious.

I always like to think that every TV series and even episodes themself have a gas pedal that writers and directors use to control the excitement, you cant keep people producing dopamine indefinitely during 45 minutes episodes, you might be able to do it on one episode and not at 100%, after Daryl escape with Isebelle and Laurent their truck broke down and Codron track them down, when he had Daryl at his mercy he could not kill Daryl or Laurent for some reason, Laurent did told him "God loves you" but still I don't think that mean anything to  Codron, he kills the rest of Genet's goons and let Daryl go away, even figure out where the nest is and told them to walk north, less than a day, Mont Saint Michel after he picks up Daryl watch from the floor and he kept it, I wonder if latter on Genet will figure out that's the Nest??, at Mont Saint Michael the entire town was expecting Laurent. Not much happen after they arrive but to me this part of the episode was not boring since the place, the castle, the scenery was beautiful, sometimes I imagine all the people that work to build places like that and even live for so long there while my country still had nothing similar, this is for many other countries, Europe was WWWAAAYYYY more advance back then.

Codron was stupid enough to go back alone to Genet with the story on his hand that everyone got killed except him because he was chasing Laurent and Daryl killed the rest of Genet's goons, cmon that was stupid as fuck, she came up with this story of how she work for a long time as security at a museum and learn to read paintings, who was lying just by looking at their eyes.

At The Nest, the got Daryl a ride back home and he decided it was time to go home, on his way he found the his grand father tomb, he was a soldier who died in France during war, close to that field Daryl had to fight Zombies and from there with the episode so close to finish if you look at the time left it was uncertain was going to happen but those Zombies were really looking for him because of Laurent, he was close and Zombies following WTF!! after all the kid does seem to have some power or control over Zombies that he has not develop obviously because no body have though of that, to make things even better there is a small scene when Carol shows up after following a biker who had Daryl's bike, he never saw it coming but in matter of minutes she already had him tight down in the trunk of her car, he tells where he got the bike and now she is on her way to the same guys who put Daryl on the ship in the first place.

Episode six left us with a couple of hot topics hanging for next season

• Laurent powers over Zombies, what they really are? will he develop it?
• Genet caught Cordon who has Daryl pocket watch, will she figure out where is the Nest and attack?
• Carol is on her way to the camp where Daryl got imprison, will she fucked up?

 

Season one of Daryl Dixon was just awesome, the entire season got an average of 7.7/10 with the last episode an 8.6/10 at IMDB and numbers do make sense compare to what I saw, it was way better than Dead City, more action, more similar to the OG series from the theme of the scenes, colors, even the intro was on a similar vibe and that is very important for the brand to go on and keep fans interested, I think that's probably why Dead City didn't got that much acceptance and to be honest Daryl Dixon spinn off at first I was a bit skeptical because are they really going to release two spinn off the same year so close to each other considering Fear The Walking Dead was still running but it turn out to be more successful than I expected, this series goes against what I have mention of a minimum of 8 episodes but it is very rare to be this successful with very little episodes, consider it had one of the bad ass characters from the OG series, on 2024 there will be the continuation of Dead City and Daryl Dixon plus there will be another spinn off "The Ones Who Live" where there will be Rick and Michonne as main characters, I have higher expectations for this next spinn off.

Synopsis: Arthur Curry is now king of Atlantis, but he is also a father and husband. Trying to balance all these functions, he will need to face some more challenges after the return of his half-brother, Black Manta, who is more powerful than ever and plans to bring complete destruction to everyone who crosses his path.

One of the most popular marine kingdoms in world comic books is once again under threat, and the final fate could be catastrophic for all species that inhabit this place. In a relatively unexpected way, the DC extended universe reached its last cinematic chapter and unfortunately, despite being fun, this sequel fails to be as exciting as the first, but even so, it is still skillful enough to give the audience a conclusion pretty decent about this aquatic adventure (now reaching new heights), which becomes extremely efficient due to its amazing visual technical aspects that are even more creative and diverse in overall.

IGN Brasil

In this sequel, King Curry is learning to live a completely new life. While he needs to understand his new role within the kingdom where he lives (which in itself brings him a lot of responsibility), he is still living the experience of being a head of the family. This initial approach is very similar to what was seen in the first movie (although the reality portrayed is completely different), because it aims to consolidate the narrative within its more dramatic context (with some hints of comedy). Despite being quite predictable, it is a specific and functional technique that helps the audience to have more empathy for the plot, as well as for its respective characters.

To the detriment of the developments of its secondary characters (which are very significant in the broader context of the narrative), the movie sacrifices communication between the different worlds (aquatic and terrestrial) to talk and direct the public's interest in the chaos that is happening in under the water. On the one hand, the fact that there is no bridge between both worlds leaves a gap in the plot, because there is no way to bring new narratives to this dynamic. However, on the other hand, the deepening into the marine territory is something very well thought out, but with some flaws in the midst of its projection (including repeating some mistakes from the first feature movie).

People Magazine

Within an entire ecosystem that is shown with much greater detail, many colors, different shapes and peculiar sounds, the kingdom of Atlantis reveals itself with an opulent diversification of aspects, bringing a true visual spectacle with high quality special effects (which by far, it is the highest point of the project). Technically, the project is full of great moments that will certainly excite the public (especially the fans), the creativity in relation to the action scenes is something very precise, almost like a violent water ballet, fostered by a dangerous aspect that brings urgency necessary so that the possible imminent destruction of Atlantis is truly “felt”.

As the movie develops, there are several narrative lines until everything finds a common point. Curry is managing his new life. The kingdom is under constant alert. Orm tries to find a way to escape from prison and the villain Black Manta is looking for a way to strengthen himself with technology from the outside world, but ends up being possessed by the evil spirit of Kordax, who is trapped in the Black Trident (an extremely dangerous weapon). In an attempt to prevent the worst from happening to the kingdom of Atlantis, Curry and Orm need to form a very unlikely alliance to stop the villain from achieving what he wants: decimating the entire maritime population of the place, and its enemies.

ComicBook

There is an attempt by the script to create an electrifying journey around the protagonist and all the dangers he has to face. Following a redemption guide that is linked to the vast majority of movies involving this type of character, there is nothing new within the central context of the story, but it is very interesting to see this dynamic between the two brothers who until then fought on opposite sides, having They have to put their differences aside and fight for a common good for all. From the conflicts, the frustrations and even the jokes (which are now scarcer and much less efficient), the plot tries to mix some different types of “conflicts” amidst the sameness of its simplistic content.

Narratively, the idea of the movie is centered on already known elements, but the script is very assertive when it decides to show the marine kingdom with a more intense look (this becomes evident when the movie shows the lives of aquatic civilians in their daily activities or in moments of leisure). This underwater journey is what pave the plot with a very captivating aesthetic, giving space for a deeper understanding of this aspect, which in the previous movie was something more “superficial”. Unexpectedly, there are also some moments of tension that rely on horror to have some kind of unprecedented impact on the audience (a decision that seems out of context, but that works here).

CNN

James Wan returns to the director's chair (and does a minimally decent job), but he also writes part of the script for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom* alongside Jason Momoa (who this time stars in a less expressive Curry, alongside a competent cast, but in general only delivers performances that are well aligned with what is required by the plot) and together they bring good ideas (such as global warming and human actions harmful to the planet, which intertwine some characters), but they compromise part of the quality of the movie with forgettable elements, helping to end DC's extended universe with a bitter, apathetic taste and without the feeling of “mission accomplished”.

CRÍTICA DE PELÍCULA: “Aquaman y el reino perdido” (2023)

Sinopsis: Arthur Curry es ahora rey de la Atlántida, pero también es padre y marido. Intentando equilibrar todas estas funciones, tendrá que afrontar algunos retos más tras el regreso de su medio hermano, Black Manta, que es más poderoso que nunca y planea llevar la destrucción total a todo aquel que se cruce en su camino.

Uno de los reinos marinos más populares del cómic mundial vuelve a estar amenazado, y el destino final podría ser catastrófico para todas las especies que habitan este lugar. Por un lado, el hecho de que no exista un puente entre ambos mundos deja un vacío en la trama, porque no hay forma de traer nuevas narrativas a esta dinámica. Siguiendo una guía de redención que está ligada a la gran mayoría de películas que involucran a este tipo de personajes, no hay nada nuevo dentro del contexto central de la historia, pero es muy interesante ver esta dinámica entre los dos hermanos que hasta entonces peleaban en opuestos. bandos, teniendo que dejar de lado sus diferencias y luchar por un bien común para todos. Este viaje submarino es lo que dota a la trama de una estética muy cautivadora, dando espacio para una comprensión más profunda de este aspecto, que en la película anterior era algo más “superficial”. Inesperadamente, también hay algunos momentos de tensión que recurren al horror para tener algún tipo de impacto sin precedentes en la audiencia (una decisión que parece fuera de contexto, pero que aquí funciona).

James Wan vuelve a la silla de director (y hace un trabajo decente), pero también escribe parte del guión de Aquaman y el reino perdido junto a Jason Momoa (que esta vez protagoniza un Curry menos expresivo, junto a un reparto competente, pero en general sólo ofrece actuaciones que están bien alineadas con lo que exige la trama) y juntas aportan buenas ideas (como el calentamiento global y las acciones humanas dañinas para el planeta, que entrelazan a algunos personajes), pero comprometen parte de la calidad de la película. con elementos olvidables, contribuyendo a terminar el universo DC extendido con un sabor amargo, apático y sin sensación de “misión cumplida”.

CRÍTICA DE FILME - “Aquaman 2: O Reino Perdido” (2023)

Sinopse: Arthur Curry agora é rei de Atlântida, mas também é pai e marido. Tentando balancear todas essas funções, ele precisará enfrentar mais alguns desafios após o retorno do seu meio-irmão, Arraia Negra, que está mais poderoso do que nunca e planeja trazer uma completa destruição a todos que cruzarem o seu caminho.

Um dos reinos marinhos mais populares das histórias em quadrinhos mundiais está novamente sob uma ameaça, e o destino final pode ser catastrófico para todas as espécies que habitam este lugar. De maneira relativamente inesperada, o universo estendido da DC chegou ao seu último capítulo cinematográfico e infelizmente, apesar de ser divertida, essa sequência não consegue ser tão empolgante quanto à primeira, mas mesmo assim, ainda é hábil o suficiente para dar ao público uma conclusão bem decente sobre esta aventura aquática (agora atingindo novos patamares), que se torna extremamente eficiente por seus aspectos técnicos visuais que são ainda mais criativos e diversificados no saldo geral.

Essa abordagem inicial é bem semelhante ao que é visto primeiro filme (embora à realidade retratada seja totalmente diferente), porque ela tem o objetivo de sedimentar à narrativa dentro de todo o seu contexto mais dramático (com algumas pitadas de comédia). Apesar de ser algo bastante previsível, é uma técnica pontual e funcional que ajuda o público a ter mais empatia pela trama, assim como pelos seus respectivos personagens.

Em detrimento dos desenvolvimentos de seus personagens secundários (que são muito significativos no contexto mais amplo da narrativa), o filme sacrifica à comunicação entre os mundos distintos (aquático e terrestre) para conversar e direcionar o interesse do público com o caos que está acontecendo em baixo da água. Por um lado, o fato de não existir essa ponte entre ambos os mundos deixa uma lacuna na trama, porque não há como trazer novas narrativas para essa dinâmica. No entanto, por outro lado, o aprofundamento dentro do território marinho é algo muito bem pensado, mas com algumas falhas no meio de toda sua projeção (inclusive repetindo alguns equívocos do primeiro longa-metragem).

Dentro de todo um ecossistema que é mostrado com muito mais riqueza de detalhes, muitas cores, diferentes formas e sons peculiares, o reino de Atlântida se revela com uma opulenta diversificação de aspectos, trazendo um verdadeiro espetáculo visual com efeitos especiais de alta qualidade (que de longe, é o ponto mais alto do projeto). Tecnicamente, o projeto é replete de ótimos momentos que certamente irão empolgar o público (especialmente os fãs), a criatividade em relação as cenas de ação é algo muito preciso, quase como um balé aquático violento, fomentado por um aspecto perigoso que traz a urgência necessária para que à possível destruição iminente de Atlântida seja realmente “sentida”.

Enquanto o filme vai se desenvolvendo, há diversas linhas narrativas até tudo encontre um ponto comum. Curry está administrando à sua nova vida. O reino está sob constante alerta. Orm tenta encontrar uma forma de fugir da prisão e o vilão Arraia Negra está buscando uma maneira de se fortalecer com tecnologia do mundo exterior, mas acaba sendo possuído pelo espírito maligno de Kordax, que está aprisionado ao Tridente Negro (uma arma extremamente perigosa). Na tentativa de evitar que o pior aconteça com o reino de Atlântida, Curry e Orm precisam formar uma aliança muito improvável para impedir o vilão de conseguir o que ele quer: dizimar toda população marítima do lugar, e seus inimigos.

Há uma tentativa do roteiro em criar uma jornada eletrizante em torno do protagonista e todos os perigos que ele tem que enfrentar. Seguindo uma cartilha de redenção que está atrelada à grande maioria dos filmes envolvendo esse tipo de personagem, não há nada de novo dentro do contexto central da estória, mas é bem interessante ver essa dinâmica entre os dois irmãos que até então lutavam em lados opostos tendo que deixar suas diferenças de lado e lutar por um bem comum a todos. Desde os conflitos, as frustrações e até as piadas (que agora estão mais escassas e muito menos eficientes), à trama tenta mesclar alguns diferentes tipos de “conflitos” em meio à mesmice do seu conteúdo simplista.

Narrativamente a ideia do filme é centrada em elementos já conhecidos, mas o roteiro é muito assertivo quando decide mostrar o reino marinho com um olhar mais intenso (isso fica evidente quanto o filme mostra à vida dos civis aquáticos em suas atividades diárias ou em momentos de lazer). Essa jornada em baixo da água é o que pavimenta a trama com uma estética bastante cativante, dando espaço para que haja um aprofundamento nesse aspecto, que no filme anterior era algo mais “superficial”. Inesperadamente, há também alguns momentos de tensão que apostam no horror para ter alguma espécie de impacto inédito na audiência (uma decisão que parece descontextualizada, mas que funciona aqui).

James Wan volta a cadeira de diretor (e faz um trabalho minimamente decente), mas também escreve parte do roteiro de Aquaman 2: O Reino Perdido junto com Jason Momoa (que dessa vez protagoniza um Curry menos expressivo, ao lado de um elenco competente, mas que de maneira geral só entrega performances que estão bem alinhadas ao que é pedido pela trama) e juntos eles trazem boas ideias (como aquecimento global e ações humanas danosas ao planeta, que entrelaçam alguns personagens), mas comprometem uma parte da qualidade do filme com elementos esquecíveis, ajudando encerrar o universo estendido da DC com um gosto amargo, apático e sem à sensação de “missão cumprida”.

Slowly but surely I'm almost done with Special Ops Lioness, I got so use to watch content on VR that either sometimes I'm too tired to put on the headset when I have time to watch series or I'm lazy and just don't but watching at my computer is not the same anymore besides a very long time I stop using Tv's I just don't anymore, probably should buy a big ass TV this year and get use more to it.

Special Ops Lioness is a little under cover agent/army drama series that will most likely will get a second season, haven't seen any news saying that it has been cancel or there wont be a season two although the mission does complete from what I have seen on IMDB episodes descriptions, anyways it should get a season two after such good performance through rating sites but it could also be a one season deal, that would sux but that just how it is with the industry, never get to attach to series although some times its inevitable.

Second episode pick up some action towards the end but for the most part its just fun to see Joe mad for the most episode, she is mad because how her team got heat on their ass because of the ops at the south on top Cruz gets into a mess situation at a bar, other than that it was a very girly episode, btw Joe's daughter broke her deal of top off only.

I can see how the girly scenes between Cruz and Aaliyah can ruin the episode but lucky it doesn't repeat that often and its the only way the series can represent how Cruz takes information from her, for the most part the entertaining side of the episode is when Joe, her team members and Kaitlyn her boss jump into the scene, so far Joe had now clue who Aaliyah was getting marry with but since Cruz is getting closer to the group they have manage to get some intel on the guy although the are been extra careful since she already experience how fast Cruz can fuck things up and this was not the exception, on previous episodes Aaliyah would prefer to chose who to marry with but that's just a cliche of this kind of story, not saying its fair or not but you know what I mean, again the boring side of the episode.

Even Joe and her crew felt the same way about them monitoring the marker, "spying on spring break", Aaliyah had everything she could dream about except "freedom", many would think different since there are levels of money that can buy you happiness but we are still human and at the end its the simple things that matter the most, this scene was the ramp up of the shit storm that was coming to Joe, not only the one she knows about this is with the shitty work Kyle pull with her team on the south. I like the tough attitude of Joe but some times Zoe Saldana exaggerate a bit and goes over board making it look force, some might consider this show silly or waste of time because of the girly scenes and its a cliche to see undercover operations happen overseas when it comes to Arabic characters, IMO I think it does make it more entertain, watching a totally different culture and not the American way makes it more interesting.

Exactly as Tex describe it to Joe, the job at the south was a shit show and I got a problem with this, I still don't know why the hell Joe accept to lend Kyle part of her crew, been a special ops team already working on a mission, so far they haven't give any background between Kyle and Joe, they both are special agents who met at a restaurant, well Kyle was following her and she agree to give him a few men for his unplanned suicide mission?? makes complete no sense, Kyle almost pull the job but the EMP bomb was not big enough to shut down cameras around him so how his ass is on the line and by consequence he sets Joe ass on fire too, it seems like the asset had some good intel on terrorist but until that's proven they both Kyle and Joe are deep on this, if the media gets the footage.

Liar Liar Pants on Fire, since when the fuck that's a good advice, top off is fine just keep your pants on when dry humping?? does that really work now days?? for sure never work with any of the women when I was young that's just how a young human brain works, selfish ass Kate got into a car wreck badly, not her fault but my mom always told me at the end the truth comes to the light, always. Sadly for her his dad not only finds out she is pregnant and she is very very fucked up, but she also betray his trust that's probably that hurts the most when you are a father but he was very naive too, Kate been pregnant is on him, he knew who Joe was when they got together and her work line so Joe not been at home is not the excuse, that's the problem with anyone who works with that kind of confidential information for security agencies.

Remember how I said Joe knows Cruz can fuck up things any moment, well she did again, this is becoming a thing, Cruz getting in trouble during the mission for any random reason and I feel its not the last time it will happen, although Joe did got her once on a tough situation at Aalyah house the first visit, this time Cruz went to bar with Aalyah and her friends, there she meet a guy who drug her and almost rape her if it was not for Joe who thought it would be good idea to keep close to Cruz, I wanted to put the scene when Joe caught the guy, Cruz was laying on the floor in the woods, think about it Joe was already pissed at Kyle and her daughter Kate got into a bad car wreck, she busted the guy badly, went all savage mode destroying the guy balls, then brought Cruz back to the hotel where she is still trying to fight the drug effect to wake up and Kailtlyn just arrive to talk to Joe about the Extraction Ops at the South between Kyle and her team, this episode was a total shit storm for Joe.

 

I'm still on Episode four with another four to go, this are not very long episodes so probably I will just keep charge my VR headset with my headphones and burn down four hours of Special Ops next week since this weekend is Xmas, for far a series that I have really enjoy, I hope all episodes were like the first one but its kind of a good contrast and I hope one or two episodes get to that level of dopamine, if not it will feel like they burn all their gunpowder on the first episode, yeah the girly scenes kill the excitement but it also feels nice that not much character introduction has happen, they cut it out on the first two episodes and that gives more room for the rest of the story to spread its wings, you get more for your time invested on watching the series, others are slower at first a good example this year was Wheel of Time Season two was extremely slow at first to then blow your brains out with the last three episodes, Special Ops Lioness seem to be a more leveled series in terms of pace of the story, really enjoy this episode.

Su título original es Holiday in The Vineyards y nos cuenta la historia de Carter Bradwyn, un joven mujeriego sin metas en la vida perteneciente a una familia adinerada que se dedica a la fabricación de vinos y maneja todo el monopolio de viñedos, salvo uno, el de Dos Santos. Así que su madre, quien maneja todo el negocio familiar, lo manda de incógnito a que averigüe por cuánto se estará subastando este viñedo. Allí, Carter conoce a Valentina Espinoza, la agente inmobiliaria encargada de la venta del lugar y forma una amistad con ella, aunque basada en mentiras. Bueno, esta es una película navideña un poco atípica a las que estoy acostumbrada porque el tema central no es la Navidad, sino todo lo otro que está sucediendo en el medio. Pero como transcurre en temporada navideña se siente esa magia característica de esta época en la película, lo que la hace sensacional para los que nos gusta esto.

Well, this is a Christmas movie a bit atypical to what I'm used to because the central theme is not Christmas, but everything else that is happening in between. But since it takes place during the Christmas season, you can feel that characteristic magic of this season in the movie, which makes it sensational for those of us who like this.

La verdad que me pareció una historia reconfortante, también muy interesante, sobre todo para los amantes de los vinos. En más de una ocasión terminé antojada porque quería probar lo mismo que los personajes jajaja.

The truth is that I found it a comforting story, also very interesting, especially for wine lovers. On more than one occasion I ended up craving it because I wanted to taste the same as the characters hahaha.

Me gustó mucho la mezcla de latinidad y americanismo por decirlo de alguna manera. Los personajes fueron todos muy carismáticos y tuvieron sus momentos de brillo, incluso la madre de Carter que podría ser considerada el Grinch de esta historia porque siempre hay uno. Me resultaron muy queribles los personajes, sobre todo Moe, quien ayudó mucho a Carter y le aportó humor a la película.

I really liked the mix of Latinness and Americanism so to speak. The characters were all very charismatic and had their moments of brilliance, even Carter's mother who could be considered the Grinch of this story because there is always one. I found the characters very lovable, especially Moe, who was very helpful to Carter and brought humor to the film.

Lo que no me resultó tan creíble es el cambio tan drástico de Carter, de ser un mujeriego y medio vago, por decirlo de alguna manera, a dar un giro drástico en tan solo unos días. Ya sé que la magia de las películas es así, pero no deja de sorprenderme estos cambios tan repentinos y sin escala.

What I didn't find so believable was Carter's drastic change, from being a womanizer and half a bum, so to speak, to making a drastic turnaround in just a few days. I know movie magic is like that, but it never ceases to amaze me with such sudden and scale-less changes.

La película me hizo acordar mucho a los libros románticos con temática navideña que suelo leer en esta época, este año no pude leer ninguno ya que estoy enganchada con otros géneros, pero sentí como si estuviera viendo una de esas historias de libros cobrando vida en pantalla. Me dio esa sensación. Encima el actor que hace de Carter es tal cual un personaje literario de esos que amamos las mujeres 🤭.

The movie reminded me a lot of the Christmas themed romance books I usually read around this time, I didn't get to read any this year as I'm hooked on other genres, but I felt like I was watching one of those book stories come to life on screen. It gave me that feeling. On top of that the actor playing Carter is just like one of those literary characters we women love 🤭.

Como siempre, la decoración navideña le da el toque especial, en esta ocasión tampoco tenemos una blanca Navidad pero la decoración es bien bonita. Tampoco hay una musicalización muy marcada, pero la canción final me encantó, es una mezcla entre ritmos navideños con letras que hacen referencia a los vinos y el romance. Así que me pareció una muy buena elección. Le dio un buen cierre a esta historia que tuvo sus partes emotivas y humorísticas.

As always, the Christmas decoration gives the special touch, this time we don't have a white Christmas either, but the decoration is very nice. There is not a very marked musicalization either, but I loved the final song, it is a mix between Christmas rhythms with lyrics that make reference to wines and romance. So I thought it was a very good choice. It gave a good closure to this story that had its emotional and humorous parts.

En definitiva, la disfruté bastante, se me pasó volando. La historia de amor también es muy linda y es una opción ideal para ver en estos dias. Así que está más que recomendada por mi parte.

All in all, I enjoyed it a lot, it flew by. The love story is also very nice and it is an ideal choice to watch these days. So it is more than recommended by me.
