  1. "Fleabag": Between simplicity and remaining a masterpiece of sarcasm [REVIEW]@chris-chris92688d

Trust me, I looked everywhere in this community.... I didn't find any post or review that had sarcasm content as beautifully done as "Fleabag". A series that shatters paradigms and perceptions of women from the movies. There is no saviour or prince charming, let alone a pregnancy and a happy family (which doesn't mean that having one is a "bad" thing) there is only a unique perspective of its protagonist (who is called "Fleabag", hence the name of the series) and how she lives.

And yes, even though it seems like a stupid and empty series.... Nothing could be further from that label. In fact, the plot of the series is a very bloody and very dark drama "How would you feel if you had sex with your best friend's boyfriend; and because of that, she decided to commit suicide? It sounds crazy... Since this series is focused on satirical humour and plenty of sarcasm.

Nevertheless, from the script, it is the drama that drives the whole story. How to deal with guilt without the hints of religion, conservative morality and above all tormented by a conscience that gives you no respite? These stark and powerful mixtures are some of Fleabag's many attractions. And it's incredible, because although everything made in the UK, and even more so on Channel Four or the BBC usually contains a lot of sarcastic material, it is no less true that no production I know of has the richness of script and originality that this precious work of art has....

I'm not lying when I tell you that the fourth wall breaking (cinematic technique) has never been so well executed and so beautifully applied. Not only because it is an essential part of the connection between the audience and the protagonist, but also because it is believable. I, a woman in my thirties, just like the protagonist, identify with the details, the gestures, the creative decisions and the brilliantly crafted script that have been made for this series.

Additionally, much of the story within the plots of Fleabag are conflicts that each and every one of us could experience. The fact that it is created, starring and written by a woman is a major plus, but if these details are not known or mentioned, it still results in a true masterpiece of sarcasm..... And because nothing exquisitely crafted can last too long, Fleabag only runs for two 6-episode seasons; each episode is 30 minutes long?

There are no heroes or villains. Just human mistakes, a feminine but never skewed view of the life of a highly flawed human in a society that pretends not to be flawed but lacks the character to trumpet the morality it constantly fails. There is no spoiler here, nor will there ever be. I am one of those who think that it is for the viewer to judge when watching the play.... On Amazon Prime Video is Fleabag. Fully in HD and like a good under-appreciated treasure, waiting to be seen. "Fleabag: Between simplicity and remaining a masterpiece of sarcasm.

  2. Fleabag | I want to fuck a priest@jauregui981215d

    image.png

    image.png

Welcome to my favorite section of favorite series and movies that collaborate more and more with my emotional and mental self-destruction. I don't know how long I had wanted to watch Fleabag, but I know it was when I saw the scene where she confesses that she wants to have sex with a priest, so I was expecting to see a dramatic comedy series that would make me laugh at how absurd and obscure it could be, but it wasn't like that, instead I came face to face with an exquisitely well done series that made me cry inside like you have no idea, because I was in those horrible days of my depression and I didn't know how to feel, or rather, I didn't feel anything, I had a strong numbness that didn't let me experience emotions normally, so I could only identify that I should be suffering and crying watching the series, but I wasn't, I could only laugh from time to time and identify the sad and traumatic moments of the series.

Fleabag follows the life of a woman trying to live independently in London, with a possible obsession with sex, while having flashbacks of a recent traumatic event that complicates things for her. This series is an adaptation of a play by treatro that also won awards, I don't know which ones, but it won them, and this series also won them. The humor of the series is weird, so that's probably why not many people like it, but overall it's totally worth watching, it had more sex than I expected, although it gets to a point where it takes a back seat because it's not the main thing in the series; the dysfunctional family is a marvel, I could say I don't know who is worse, but they are just people trying to do the best they can, although I can say who are the two worst, but I'll tell you that later.

Fleabag breaks the fourth wall, and he does it beautifully, it's one of my favorite things about the series. Usually when breaking the fourth wall she does it to give us the context of everything that is happening, of the person she is interacting with, of what she feels, thinks and believes, and she also does it to tell us what is about to happen, and she almost always gets it right, it's like she is in charge of the narrative of everything that is happening around her, but she is not, so more than once we will see how she looks at us in shock and horror because she is equally or more surprised as we are of whatever it is that is happening. It's almost impossible for me to decide on one or two fourth wall breaking moments as my favorites, they're all good, even the lesser ones, that's how well done the series is.

I watched Fleabag first, and then I watched Normal People, both series are as different as they are the same, it's amazing. They are very realistic series where they show us people as a whole, nothing of just good people or good people, they are people who do good things and bad things, people who try to forgive and forgive each other, although there are many people who deserve to be sent to hell, and they do it, but as a last option, because it is frowned upon to do it first.

    image.png

    image.png

One thing I still have a hard time reconciling with is the trauma that Fleabag is trying to overcome and sometimes harder than she is, I'm not going to say anything about it, but the moment when they finally tell us everything that happened, I hated her, I hated her like I've never hated anyone before and then I forgave her, I almost stopped watching the series, it was just too much for me at that moment. That traumatic event caused trauma for me too, and it was from that explanation that I could feel a little bit what was happening and not just imagine how it is that I should feel. It was horrible, but it was one of the best things about the series, at that moment all the pieces fall into place and she can be a little more free, without having a huge burden on her that was pulling her down and nothing seemed to be able to save her.

One of the best things about the series is the relationship that forms between her and the priest, fuck, you have no idea how amazing that was, it was fun, exciting, stimulating, didactic, religious, sinful, loving, philosophical, existentialist, it was like watching two kids getting to know each other, that friendship that arose between them was something wonderful, and it calmed me down a little, the respectful and considerate way they treated each other gave me hope, something peaceful, a painful tenderness that is impossible to despise or wish away, you just accept it and live it, enjoy it, suffer it, there is no other way.

    image.png

This series has one of the best endings that could ever exist, at no time did it stop being faithful to the series, at no time was its narrative twisted, at no time was there any opportunity to ruin the series by changing the characters or the story they were telling, and although I would be able to sell my soul for more seasons of Fleabag, it is not necessary, the series ended in the best possible way, in an unparalleled climax, that no matter what, is enough and does not need more. This series and the ending is one of my favorites, because it's like starting to read a book in the middle and end up in the middle of a sentence with many questions about what will happen next, but there is no need to know, everyone can continue the story in his mind the way he wants, but the end is there, no more is needed and we have to accept it.

I was going to leave you a video of the best scenes of the series, but no, it has age restriction, so it is not seen, so I leave you the trailer of the second season, which does not make spoiler, because that is the wonder of the series, when I was watching it I did not even realize that the second season had already begun, I think I noticed it in chapter three, it was weird. I wanted to tell you more about the priest and how he realizes that she breaks the fourth wall, but no, watch the series, it's worth it. Ah, I almost never say it, the most despicable people are the stepmother, played by an amazing Olivia Colman, fuck, I loved her, and her sister's husband, what a despicable being, I hated him. I missed a lot of things to say, but I have no more energy to write, nor to live.

    image.png

I have an obsession with the length of all series, chapter after chapter and season after season, I feel that just by knowing the number of episodes of any televised work you manage to understand a lot about it: what are its intentions and for how long does it intend to pursue them.

For me one of the triumphs of Fleabag is in the consistency, two seasons, 12 episodes, 23-28 minutes. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, judging her by that is a bit cold, but then you discover that this same precision is transferred to the rhythm of each chapter, where quick cuts, shot by shot, are the norm but they are always there for a reason.

Fleabag is in his essence a dramatic comedy about a young Londoner and the bumps she encounters on this path called life. Adored by critics and by the public, this adaptation to a monologue of the same name created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who stars in the series) radiates an incredible chaotic energy where through the breaking of the fourth wall we are all made accomplices of this misadventure. Fleabag is iconic and daring, for this reason it operates with such a fast pace, there is a window, an intimate access to the toughts of a woman who has her mind everywhere.

I can't stop thinking about how there should be a correlation between the fast cuts that mark their rhythm and the shortness of their duration.

Imagen

The climax of the second season sparked an argument that I really don't like. Why? Because decides to leave us in the air in the middle of an impossible love and that is wonderful, it's brave. Why do we not respect the idea of a closure? Why do we dictate when something must end if we don't create it in the first place? Does Fleabag exist for us as a public, or do we exist as a public for Fleabag?

The Internet is an incredible place and we live (from a generational point of view) in a wonderful era, this unfortunately has made us capricious, we have lost the sense of art, understanding an audiovisual work as something that must begin, pass and end. It takes a couple of Trending Topics on Twitter for anything to take longer than it should, and the truth is, I feel that if we are honest, it is often unnecessary.

    Lavorative, personali, familiari.

    a

    Quindi, cosa aspettate?
