What would a parent be willing to do to ensure the well-being of a child?. I think many of us who are parents would not hesitate for a second to risk everything if it means that our children will be safe, but would you be able to take the life of another person to get it?

Inside man, is a drama series that Netflix recently released and since I saw it on the platform I didn't hesitate to give it a chance because I was practically sure I would love it, which was not only not true, but in the end I ended up detesting it.
It stars David Tennant and Stanley Tucci, two excellent actors who usually get involved in quite interesting projects, besides being created by Steven Moffat, one of the minds behind Sherlock and Doctor Who, which ended up convincing me that I should watch it, however, in its four episodes it failed to tell a credible enough story so that I could end up liking it.
Inside man, es una serie de drama que estrenó Netflix recientemente y desde que la vi en la plataforma no dudé en darle una oportunidad porque estaba prácticamente segura de que me encantaría, cosa que no solamente no fue cierta, sino que al final la terminé detestando.
Es protagonizada por David Tennant y Stanley Tucci, dos excelentes actores que normalmente se involucran en proyectos bastante interesantes, además de ser creada por Steven Moffat, una de las mentes detrás de Sherlock y Doctor Who, lo cual me terminó de convencer de que debía verla, sin embargo, en sus cuatro episodios falló en contar una historia lo suficientemente creíble como para que pudiera terminar gustándome.

I think that lately I have had few disappointments with a series as I had with this one, I remember that I opened the Netflix app to look for something new to watch and this production caught my attention immediately for the reasons I told you at the beginning.
It had a rather weak beginning, the presentation of the main characters did not please me at all, I think the only one I liked in the first episode was the Vicar and that because he was played by Tennant, who is one of my favorite actors, the others seemed horrible and too typecast.
Creo que últimamente he tenido pocas decepciones con una serie como la tuve con esta, recuerdo que abrí la aplicación de Netflix para buscar algo nuevo para ver y esta producción captó mi atención inmediatamente por las razones que les comenté al principio.
Tuvo un comienzo bastante flojo, la presentación de los personajes principales no me gustó para nada, creo que el único que me agradó en el primer episodio fue el Vicario y eso porque fue interpretado por Tennant, quien es uno de mis actores favoritos, los demás me parecieron horribles y por demás encasillados.
The story follows two plot lines, the first is that of the Vicar (Tennant), who for "defending" one of his parishioners commits stupid decision after stupid decision, which obviously lead him to the brink of insanity.
Here I honestly never understood what was the character's need to protect his sexton, the guy was committing a crime which he decided to cover up and never, no matter how much water he was up to his neck, had the idea to report it to the police, which made his whole life and that of his family go straight to hell.
It seems to me completely unreal the conflict they created for this character, I thought everything that happened around him was ridiculous, it is supposed to be a story set in our reality, which makes the decisions made by the Vicar make absolutely no sense.
Everything would have been completely solved with a simple call or a talk, there was never any compelling reason that forced him to make the decisions he made, considering that this is the basis of virtually the entire series you can imagine how is the rest of the plot.
The other characters of this plot line were truly pitiful, the vicar's wife, the son, the sexton, each and every one of them seemed to me horrendous and extremely ridiculous, I don't know if that was Moffat's idea when creating them (he has a very peculiar way of narrating his stories), but I ended up loathing and making fun of practically all the characters of this part of the story.
At one point I literally thought "What the fuck I'm watching?", because a character who loses his head and OMG, she does it in the stupidest way the writers could think of, it really made me feel ashamed, instead of drama it seemed like a kind of parody or black comedy.
There is one character in particular that seems to me one of the worst of the series, it made no sense at all, on the one hand it seems that it has some flashes of brilliance, but then it turns out that it doesn't, it was a real incoherence scene after scene, plus they made it really detestable and even though it may seem "the victim" it is impossible to empathize with it.
La historia sigue dos líneas argumentales, la primera es la del Vicario (Tennant), quien por “defender” a uno de sus feligreses comete decisión estúpida tras decisión estúpida, las cuales obviamente lo llevan al borde de la locura.
Aquí honestamente nunca entendí cuál era la necesidad del personaje de proteger a su sacristán, el tipo estaba cometiendo un delito el cual él decidió encubrir y nunca, por más que tuvo el agua hasta el cuello, tuvo la idea de denunciarlo con la policía, lo cual hizo que toda su vida y la de su familia se fueran directo al carajo.
Me parece completamente irreal el conflicto que crearon para este personaje, incluso se me hizo ridículo todo lo que pasó alrededor de él, se supone que es una historia ambientada en nuestra realidad, lo cual hace que las decisiones tomadas por el Vicario no tengan absolutamente ningún sentido.
Todo se hubiera resuelto por completo con una simple llamada o con una plática, nunca existió alguna razón de peso que lo obligara a tomar las decisiones que tomó, teniendo en cuenta que esta es la base de prácticamente toda la serie se podrán imaginar cómo es el resto de la trama.
Los demás personajes de esta línea argumental fueron verdaderamente penosos, la esposa del vicario, el hijo, el sacristán, todos y cada uno de ellos me parecieron horrendos y sumamente ridículos, yo no sé si esa fue la idea de Moffat al crearlos (es que el señor tiene una forma muy peculiar de narrar sus historias), pero terminé aborreciendo y burlándome de prácticamente todos los personajes de esta parte de la historia.
En un momento literalmente pensé “pero qué porquería estoy viendo”, porque un personaje que pierde la cabeza y ufff, lo hace de la forma más estúpida que se les pudo ocurrir a los escritores, de verdad que hasta pena ajena me dio, en lugar de drama parecía una especie de parodia o comedia negra.
Hay un personaje en especial que me parece uno de los peores de la serie, no tiene ni pies ni cabeza, por un lado, parece que tiene unos destellos de brillantez, pero luego resulta que no, una verdadera incoherencia escena tras escena, además de que lo hicieron realmente detestable y por más que pueda parecer “la víctima” es imposible empatizar con él.
On the other hand, we have the story that revolves around the character played by Stanley Tucci, a convict expert in criminalistics sentenced to death for murdering and dismembering his wife, but for some strange reason helps solve "impossible" crimes, yes, nothing new, he also has a partner who "assists" him in his cases, it's like a kind of mixture between Sherlock and Hannibal, because there is also a journalist who ends up becoming his friend after interviewing him and helping him in one of his cases, something too trite.
This part of the story is not as ridiculous as the Vicar's, but it is tediously predictable, the only good thing is that I found a character that I didn't find SO bad, no, I'm not even talking about the Convict and much less about the Journalist, but the other prisoner that accompanies Tucci's character, although he is quite cliché, at least he is entertaining enough to make me forget for a few seconds of the disgrace I was watching.
Honestly, I never thought I'd come across a disaster of such magnitude, I don't know if this series is too elevated for my taste (which I doubt), but I was too disappointed, the FOUR episodes seemed ETERNAL to me and I only finished watching it because of how short it was, if it had had four more episodes I would have definitely abandoned it halfway through.
In fact I think the only good thing about this series is just that, its short duration that makes the agony of watching something so ridiculous relatively short. Although I must agree that Moffat and the production of Inside man does one thing very well: completely wasting the talent of the actors who participated in the series, because as ridiculous as his story was, Tennant does an excellent job as the vicar, unfortunately the story did not match him or the rest of his fellow actors.
Por otro lado, tenemos la historia que gira alrededor del personaje que interpreta Stanley Tucci, un Convicto experto en criminalística condenado a muerte por asesinar y descuartizar a su esposa, pero que por alguna extraña razón ayuda a resolver crímenes “imposibles”, sí, nada novedoso, además tiene un compañero que lo “asiste” en sus casos, viene siendo como una especie de mezcla entre Sherlock y Hannibal, porque además hay una periodista que termina convirtiéndose en su amiga después de entrevistarlo y ayudarlo en uno de sus casos, algo demasiado trillado.
Esta parte de la historia no es tan ridícula como la del Vicario, pero sí es tediosamente predecible, lo único bueno es que encontré a un personaje que no me pareció TAN malo, no, no hablo ni del Convicto y mucho menos de la Periodista, sino del otro prisionero que acompaña al personaje de Tucci, si bien es bastante cliché, por lo menos es lo suficientemente entretenido como para olvidarme por unos segundos de la desgracia que estaba viendo.
Honestamente, jamás pensé encontrarme con un desastre de semejante magnitud, no sé si esta serie es demasiado elevada para mi gusto (que lo dudo), pero me decepcionó demasiado, los CUATRO episodios me parecieron ETERNOS y solamente la terminé de ver por lo corta que era, si hubiera tenido cuatro episodios más definitivamente la hubiera abandonado a la mitad.
De hecho creo que lo único bueno que tiene esta serie es justamente eso, su corta duración que hace que la agonía de estar viendo algo tan ridículo sea relativamente corta. Aunque debo aceptar que Moffat y la producción de Inside man hace una cosa muy bien: desperdiciar por completo el talento de los actores que participaron en la serie, porque por más ridícula que fue su historia, Tennant hace un excelente trabajo como el vicario, lamentablemente la historia no le correspondió ni a él ni al resto de sus compañeros actores.
The worst of all is that the series was left with an open ending and knowing the BBC will surely give Moffat a new opportunity to invent a second season, let's just hope that as in Sherlock Mark Gatiss joins him, to see if they manage to give it a second season a little less crazy. And well, it remains to be seen who will watch it, because after the fiasco that was this season even Tennant won't persuade me to watch it.
I would like to give you a closure as I normally do, highlighting the good and bad points of the production, but I just don't see any good points outside of having had only four episodes of suffering with one of the most ridiculous and implausible storylines I've had the displeasure of watching on Netflix.
Perhaps this may seem a bit harsh, but the truth is it's not and if you think I'm exaggerating just give them a glance at the episodes and you'll agree with me. Needless to say, I don't recommend it at all, unless you want to waste your time.
Lo peor de todo es que la serie quedó con un final abierto y conociendo a la BBC seguramente le dará una nueva oportunidad a Moffat de inventarse una segunda temporada, solo esperemos que al igual que en Sherlock se le una Mark Gatiss, a ver si así logran darle una segunda temporada un poco menos descabellada. Y bueno, falta ver quién la verá, porque después del fiasco que fue esta temporada ni Tennant me persuadirá para verla.
Me gustaría darles un cierre como normalmente lo hago, destacando los puntos buenos y los malos de la producción, pero es que no le veo ningún punto bueno fuera de haber tenido solo cuatro episodios de sufrimiento con una de las historias más ridículas e inverosímiles que he tenido el disgusto de ver en Netflix.
Quizás esto pueda parecer algo duro, pero la verdad es que no lo es y si piensan que exagero solamente denles un vistazo a los episodios y coincidirán conmigo. De sobra está decir que no la recomiendo para nada, a menos que quieran desperdiciar su tiempo.
