  1. My opinion about: One Piece (Live Action, Season 2) || Mi opinión sobre: One Piece (Live Action, Segunda Temporada)⚓⛵✨@eldiariodelys97d

There’s something that makes this review very different from the one I wrote about the first season: I’m no longer approaching this world solely through the live-action adaptation. Now I have the full context of the anime and the manga… and that changes absolutely everything.

I enjoyed this season ten times more. The work they’ve done here feels meticulous, well-thought-out, and deeply respectful of the original source material. So yes, I have to thank Netflix for giving me that little push I needed to dive into this story that’s as grand as it is unforgettable.

I had EXTREMELY HIGH expectations. I knew important moments were coming—the kind that make history. And I can say this with confidence: it was completely worth the wait… though, please, don’t take so long again🥺

For those who only follow the series, in this second season the Straw Hats finally find their way to the Grand Line: that mysterious sea where, according to legend, lies the treasure left behind by Gol D. Roger, the famous One Piece. Luffy’s dream is clear: to become the Pirate King. But getting there won’t be easy.

The Grand Line isn’t just a destination; it’s a constant challenge. Unpredictable islands, extreme weather, unknown ecosystems, and new cultures put a crew that’s still growing to the test. This season represents that first big step… and everything that comes with facing the unknown.

It’s more intense, more emotional, and, in many moments, darker. What we saw in the first season was merely an introduction to the world of One Piece. Here we face much more complex themes: corruption, discrimination, abandonment, loneliness… but also hope, loyalty, and personal growth. All wrapped up in adventure, action, and conflicts that keep you completely immersed in the story.

As for the characters, I won’t go into too much detail about the main characters because I already did that in my previous review. But I do need to say this: the main cast is, quite simply, perfect.

Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Gibson, and Taz Skylar don’t just play their characters… they embody them. They respect their essence, their values, and their ways of seeing the world. You can feel their dedication, discipline, and love for what they’re doing. And that extends even to the more minor characters.

Every member of the Straw Hats evolves, both in their role aboard the ship and on a personal level. It’s true that some have less screen time, but that’s understandable given how expansive this story is and the limited number of episodes.

This season shines with the introduction of new characters.

I have to start with her: Nico Robin, also known as Miss All Sunday. One of my all-time favorite characters. Although her appearance is brief, every scene carries weight. Lera Abova manages to convey that blend of mystery, intelligence, and composure that defines the character. And honestly, it left me wanting so much more. And with her, the entire Baroque Works team really shone here. The actors really brought their characters to life, delivering action-packed and suspenseful scenes, and they were pretty ruthless. I loved all of their performances.

Another great choice was Smoker, played by Callum Kerr. His presence is commanding from the very first moment. His skills, his character, his sense of justice… it’s all there. And alongside him, Tashigi, played by Julia Rehwald, who manages to capture the essence of the character in a way that feels incredibly faithful.

It’s also impossible not to mention our beloved Miss Wednesday, played by Charithra Chandran. Beyond any senseless controversy on social media, her work speaks for itself. And it’s worth remembering something important: Eiichirō Oda is directly involved in casting. If he trusts her performance, that says a lot. One Piece has always been a story about diversity, acceptance, and respect, so criticizing an actress for her background is not only unnecessary but completely contrary to the show’s message. I can’t wait to see her again in the next season! Because her character is a very important one.

And then there’s him… Tony Tony Chopper.

I wasn’t prepared for just how adorable he’d be. His design, his voice, his expressions… everything works. It’s impossible not to fall in love with him from the very first moment. And alongside his story, characters like Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk appear. The Drum Island episodes were, without a doubt, among my favorites. The setting, the emotional weight, the characters… it all felt like watching the anime come to life.

And speaking of that, the giants Dorry and Brogy were also a total hit. Their personalities, their designs, their scenes… everything conveys that sense of nostalgia and respect for the source material.

In terms of production, this season feels more ambitious. More polished. Made with more love… and yes, with a bigger budget, too.

One Piece is an over-the-top, fantastical story—even chaotic at its core. They could have chosen to simplify it, to make it more “realistic”… but they didn’t. They chose to stay true to it.

From character design to the settings, from the Going Merry to Laboon… everything is crafted with a level of detail that feels like a constant tribute to Oda’s work.

Now, there’s also criticism. And I think the main point is clear: 8 episodes aren’t enough.

We’re talking about a massive story that keeps getting more complex. It might not feel that way right now, but this could become a problem down the road. A minimum of 10 or 12 episodes would allow for better development of storylines, characters, and key moments.

I also understand the criticism regarding omitted scenes or changes to the story. But let’s be realistic… One Piece has over a thousand chapters. It’s impossible to adapt everything word for word. What the live-action series is doing is selecting the most important moments and maintaining the essence. And honestly, it’s succeeding at that.

Plus, something I love is that this adaptation works for both fans and new viewers. I have friends who knew nothing about One Piece… and ended up laughing, crying, falling in love with characters, and wondering why they were crying over a whale.

The season finale does what we’ve seen before: it ends on a high note, but leaves the door open to something much bigger.

The introduction of Crocodile sets the stage for the Alabasta arc, a major one in the overall story. Expectations are sky-high. We want to see more of Robin, see how Chopper fits into the crew… and yes, we’re also waiting for Portgas D. Ace!

With Xolo Maridueña already confirmed for the role, the excitement is real. And the fact that he has great chemistry with Iñaki Godoy only heightens our anticipation to see that brotherly bond on screen.

In conclusion, this second season doesn’t just deliver… it exceeds expectations.

If you’re a One Piece fan, you’re going to love it. It’s not an exact copy, but it’s an adaptation that respects, understands, and honors the original story. And if you know nothing about this world, this could be the perfect gateway to it.

Because in the end, beyond pirates, treasure, and adventure… One Piece is a story about dreams, about belonging, and about finding your place in the world. It’s my favorite anime; I’m completely in love with this story and its characters. I’m so grateful to Oda for giving us this masterpiece, and I was overjoyed with every episode Netflix released. I laughed and cried all over again, and felt that kind of hope that only One Piece can give ✨

And believe me… it’s completely worth experiencing.

  2. (ENG/SPA) Roronoa Zoro The Green Beast of One Piece Netflix@promete0sz759d

    image.png

I rarely notice the acceptance of the public on Live Action as they are usually highly destructive and lethal with these products, being objective, bringing an anime to real people is an impossible task because it falls into the abyss of rejection to the human eye but there is a horizon of tolerable events which is becoming easier to achieve because I see it is achieved in varied characters of One Piece.

Roronoa Zoro is a character in his real-life version for the Netflix, I have seen him as a green beast that managed to devour that mortal public that borders the toxic and does not accept the live action, I notice it because in networks has not been so much destruction and universal deluge of criticism about him, that indicates that the character in the series at least has fulfilled and that's a lot to say.

    image.png

    image.png

Character played by Mackenyu who I think has done a good job playing the character, I have heard and read soulful fans of the anime or animation of One Piece and the worst thing I've heard at least in my circle of friends is that the series and characters are good, it's nice to hear that opinion because it reinforces my concept that the series is powerful, it lacks many points to strengthen BUT characters like Roronoa can generate a solid bond with the viewer.

Just at the moment of writing this post as a quality content creator I have to do some research and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw in internet that the actor is not a rookie acting at a general level and I consider him already an expert with live action because he even appears in Samurai X, live action film of power according to his anime.

    image.png

    image.png

So my impression is that he is doing a good acting job for what his role is, it is consistent with the experience I see in the roles he has played before, one detail is that he needs to be more Bestia because I have seen images of the anime and if he is still very delicate, he has to leave that aside and act as if he were the monster of One Piece, I hope to achieve it in the future and stay in the hearts of the audience.

We can not leave aside the physical aspect, we have already talked about what his personality transmits and I think he looks decent, at first the green hair shocked me but then I got used to it and I had no problem BUT the boy needs to develop a little more muscle mass to look more manly and not so delicate because the anime character is tough plus the fact that his face should show more convincing rage and anger because it is still a very thin face, almost feminine.

    image.png

    image.png

I think the director of this series can achieve what has not been achieved in a solitary way, which is to maintain an audience level to develop in people that affection not only for the characters, but also for the actors, because the anime fan is as tough as steel when he is taken out of his comfort zone.

Although it is true that many live action are disastrous in their execution, it is seen that the care for aspect and narrative of these series has improved and I see several products unfairly dismembered under totally subjective and weak judgments in approach, fortunately this work that I liked is noticeable that came to stay along with the swords of The Green Beast of One Piece... Roronoa Zoro.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  3. (ENG/SPA) Character Review: Nami from One Piece of Netflix@promete0sz766d

    image.png

Anime or animations and Live Action are really opposite poles that are hard to combine, it's like oil and water, however there are elements that I enjoy a lot and I notice the creative effort of directors, costumes, makeup to create their version of the work using real people, now if something is difficult to represent the anime to real people are women.

Nami is a character from One Piece that in the Netflix series is played by Emily Rude, the first thing to evaluate if I were to sit in the position of director when choosing the casting is that she has her own personality, I would fight for certain essence but if the actress convinces me with her way of being I would still choose her and in this case I just notice that because she is definitely another Nami with respect to the anime.

    image.png

    image.png

Now the physique is of maximum weight to choose the actress but the original work in which it is based exaggerates its characters to the maximum, Nami of the anime as well as you see her in the image has a voluptuous body and some features of face impossible to take to real, if analyzed in detail it is horrifying because that is the essence of the drawings of this author in manga.

Another thing is that by affection of those who enjoy the anime they get to see her beautiful and at times the same anime softens her features but in essence the drawings of One Piece are not cute, they are exaggerated in extreme and in that process the humanity of the characters is deformed where the author makes his own his way of drawing because it is possible to notice his way of expressing the characters physically.

    image.png

    image.png

Basically what I want to say is that getting a Nami from the anime to real life is almost impossible but you have to choose someone because the project must continue to explore what can come out of this character in Live Action.

Emily Rudd is beautiful, as you can see in the image she has big eyes which obviously will never reach the exaggerated and atrocious of the anime and after adding her orange hair she doesn't convince me at all as Nami physically speaking and neither as I capture her in her personality BUT she is a Nami that provokes me to see and that's what I rescue.

The version of Nami for this series is extremely cold, she just stands there but she's not being cute, she does transmit a certain aura that at least reaches me and captivates me because it provokes me to see her for as long as it's necessary. If I think she needs to improve her acting skills to bring out more feelings and emotions from the character, there are moments that require sadness and that specific sensation is not conveyed to me.

    image.png

What Rudd does transmit as Nami is a look as if she was constantly challenging the rest of the characters and the audience well, as I said the orange hair did not please me and neither did the cut, I think the aesthetic work fails in that aspect, it seems that the scissors were passed abruptly, I think it could be more stylized because the actress is beautiful, since it does not look anything like the anime, I think that taking advantage of her being beautiful and highlighting it would not be bad.

She has presence for the battle, yes she has it, moments friendship that highlighted the courage to overcome adversity, this if I see it in her, the biggest criticism is not her physique because to achieve the physical anime as I said before is complex with such exaggerated artistic bases, then if I can objectively judge the personality to act that is where I see must improve her performance in the spectrum of feelings and dismiss the hairdresser who cut her hair to represent the character.

Live Action have it tough but I have watched several series without watching anime and those Netflix series I liked because of their actors, Nami played by Emily Rudd I Really Like You.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  4. One Piece - Live Action | Review [ENG-ESP]@davidpena21935d

    one.jpg Edited in Canva

One Piece was one of the best TV series that I got to see when I was little, watching several episodes in an afternoon was wonderful, enjoying good times. Of course I watched it years after it premiered and when I could understand what the TV series was based on and not be lost, where many talked about them, the characters, the treasure and the way they managed to recreate all that adventure. I was encouraged and when I realized the months passed and I had seen all that One Piece TV series, being very funny and attractive for those years of youth.

That TV series has more than 20 seasons, being very long, where at no time was repeated, since they always brought out interesting things to keep viewers attentive, all in order to find that great treasure, so it is extensive. As time went by she left it and a few weeks ago her name was named again, which surprised me a lot and I got excited, since I thought it would be a continuation, but things were not like that, but rather an adaptation of the live action form, which is not easy and the few that have been released end in failure, however, I could not stop watching it.

    image.png Source

They continued and continued working on this production until the trailer came out and it was an impressive thing, where I was very happy with the Netflix platform, since a lot of money, time and quality is at stake to recreate it in a very attractive and not boring way, where now there are only 8 episodes, in a very summarized way that great. Being something very good and I liked how it went, develop the plot, since everything begins with a great treasure cult of One Piece, where from the beginning you can see the desperation and anguish to find it and become the best pirate, achieving a series of great action and adventure.

Going from an animated series with thousands of episodes to this new adaptation, had to be something very impeccable, which shows a more realistic world, full of colors, challenges and allows it to be more attractive and striking for those who had never seen this production. Some of the things that are very shocking and I liked is the action that is found in it, since they give a great effort to excel in every scene of the whole series, showing very good fights, movements, also as the blows are a bit exaggerated, as they do not cause any damage, but in the end with the combination everything happens very quiet. In addition, each person has a skill that allows them to defend themselves and be able to excel in this great world of tracks.

One Piece covers very good elements and this 8 episodes I managed to watch it in just a short time, where the director managed to do a great job and for all the publicity they gave it on that platform, the social networks in the end if the goal was achieved. Also, I felt that the animated series has more specific details, compared to this new version, however, it is passable. Where everything starts with that young man who will do everything possible to find that treasure, but things are not as easy as you think, since at the time of seeing it needs a boat, crew, knowledge and thus this series manages to unite each of the characters, making it a great story.

A production that has very good visual effects and a great animation from the beginning to the end, which you can see that it took them a long time to create a great connection with all those who make life in it. In addition, there are a lot of effects and transitions throughout this production, showing a great job, even though it is short, it was worth it. So for the time I didn't watch an anime, this one is perfect.

Of course this production could not stay without its original characters that we saw in the first time, now they are more modern and each one of them has a great touch and bring a lot of value to the story of that great search, that treasure, also they dedicated a great time to each one of them to take a great role. I liked each one of them, especially the pirate, since his way of thinking and doing things is wonderful, he always tries to excel and not give up. In addition, we can not leave out the enemies, who always want to take everything in the best way, achieving a great combination of battles between the characters.

I liked this new adaptation of this great anime, where I'm sure it will continue, as there is still a lot to present in this live action way and be able to have a great time. Also, keep hoping that Netflix continues to do things right, not only for this series, but for all the adaptations they release.

  5. One Piece Live Action – A Lot of Care went into this show... And I still can't recommend it.@dlstudios980d

    image.png

This isn't going to be a full-on review of the show, at least not in the usual sense. Because in a lot of ways, this is how one should go about doing a live-action adaptation of an anime. If Cowboy Bebop had the same level of care and attention given to it, you would have had a really good show. I would even go as far as to say that the One Piece live-action is actually a good show. Not that it is without its problems, they certainly exist and are obvious, but the show's heart is definitely in the right place.

The problem is One Piece just doesn't translate to live action. I'll start with the biggest example, Luffy himself. A big part of the charm of Luffy is how he can just bounce around even in his normal activities. To this day, CG has never looked good when trying to showcase elastic powers, and with the cost of CG no way was going to happen even if it could be made to look good. I give a lot of credit for the casting of this show, but visually it's just never going to be able to replicate what pure animation can do for Luffy.

At first, it sounds unfair to hold this against the show, but it starts to show in almost every aspect of the show. A lot of the charm that comes from One Piece is in the way it looks and the way it is animated, much of which can't be translated into live-action. So, what does the Live Action show do to give itself its own flavor, or something to make up for it? It kind of has nothing to offer in that regard. It's not that it ends up being bad, it's that the whole show just kind of feels like a truncated One Piece light. It has nothing to offer the anime doesn't, it doesn't do anything as well as the anime and does a handful of things worse, the shortened version of the plot lines does leave the big emotional moments feeling less.

There do appear to be people whose first foray into One Piece has been the Live Action, and I'm glad it's getting people into the show in general. But at the same point, just watch the Romance Dawn arc, which takes place over the first three episodes of the anime. Because I'll be honest, if that interests you keep watching the show, if it doesn't show probably won't be for you. While animation and plot get better as it goes on, Water 7 being the absolute highlight so far for me (I am only up to Fishman Island, so I'm still behind), those first three episodes pretty much set up exactly what kind of show you are going to be in for.

At the end of the day, I think One Piece will go down as an interesting novelty. It's never going to be on the long list of failed Live Action attempts at anime, it has way too much heart for it to go that way, but I also don't think it's going to go down as some great showcase of what Live Action versions of anime could be.

And with that, a few random notes about the show:

    1. Garp had pretty much a perfect casting choice. I can't imagine another actor doing better live-action.
    2. They did a great job finding ways to condense the various story arcs so it won't go on as long as the anime.
    3. The condensed arcs do drain a good amount of the emotion of certain moments.
    4. Sanji and Zoro's fights look mostly good.
    5. Luffy's fights... do not.
    6. That fucking goat head still looks like an alter you sacrifice children too.

I have seen enough of the anime and manga, and I can say that this first season has been good. The series has tried to respect many of the essential points of the story and characters. Of course, they have summarized many anime or manga chapters in 8 chapters of almost an hour. Although this doesn't allow to develop many scenes and characters, it doesn't end up feeling negative.

The story, for those who do not know, is that of a great adventure that has several arcs, in which we will see how Luffy's crew is armed. We will get to know both the main character and his new friends who are crew members of his ship. At the same time, they will defeat several enemies in the process. It's a fairly long story, so I doubt it can be adapted beyond a certain point.

The scenery looks good but you can tell they shy away from some of it too much. The lack of music is noticeable, I hope they get around to giving it an opening in its second season. The acting is fine, highlighting in my opinion the work of Emily Rudd as Nami.

Recomendable.

Hopefully future seasons of this adaptation or other anime adaptations, will remain at the level that this series has shown. Recommended.

  7. Mi opinión sobre One Piece (Live Action)⚓⛵✨ || My opinion about One Piece (Live Action)⚓⛵✨@eldiariodelys1006d

    Hello, Nakamas!!✨

Y no me equivoqué.

Last August 31 Netflix released the live action of one of the greatest anime in history: One Piece. I have been a great anime lover for several years, but honestly I was a little reluctant to watch this anime; although I recognized that it should be wonderful for the great fame it has. However, for some strange reason I was very excited about everything related to this live action, I had a good feeling about it. And I was not wrong.

The day of the premiere I was traveling, but when I got home I dedicated a whole day to watch this series. Live action anime have a curse that they are commonly very bad, but Netflix took a risk, played and won, it was an extremely wonderful project, and the sign I needed to give anime a chance💜 Before doing this review I wanted to watch the anime episodes that were covered in the series; now, I'm ready to talks about the wonder of One Piece✨

¿De qué trata? || What is it about?

However, before dying, Roger addresses the people who had gathered to see him, and mentions to them that his great treasure hides wealth, fame and power, and is somewhere in the sea, waiting to be found; thus, he encourages everyone to take over the oceans, and thus beginning the Great Age of Pirates.

Then we meet Luffy, the protagonist of this story, a young man whose great dream is to become the new King of the Pirates by finding the One Piece. His inspiration comes from having lived during his childhood with the red-haired pirate Shanks and his crew, in addition, during that time, Luffy acquired extraordinary abilities in his body, after having eaten a "Devil Fruit". However, before starting his great adventure to go in search of the greatest treasure in history, he must first find some indispensable requirements, for example: a map, a ship, and a crew (his nakamas).

Over the course of the episodes, we see how Luffy goes about getting each of these things, even if he has to get into a lot of trouble and gain enemies. But he succeeds!✨ After getting a beautiful ship, the Going Merry, having assembled a great crew, known as the Straw Hats, and obtaining a map to his treasure, Luffy sets off on his great adventure down the Grand Line to find the One Piece.

    MI OPINIÓN || MY OPINION

In short: I loved it!💕 I watched it twice, with audio in English and in Spanish (in support of the actors that I will comment later), and although below I will tell you about the favorable points in my opinion, there is something that allowed this series to become the great worldwide success that it is: the participation of the mangaka Eiichirō Oda. The creator of One Piece was involved in the development of the series, since he is known as a man very dedicated to his work, it is not a surprise that he has supervised every detail, and I am sure that thanks to him the vast majority loves this live action.

Okay, this is a live action of an incredibly long and developed anime, so they couldn't do everything verbatim, or they would still be filming the scenes. Although you can tell that the script tries to stick as close as possible to the original story, there are still several changes in the plot, especially to make the storytelling shorter. However, I don't see it as a bad thing, since Oda not only wanted to satisfy his fandom, but also to attract new people (like me), and after having seen the anime episodes, I consider that they made a good summary of the plot, respecting the most characteristic and important details.

For example: the childhood stories of each character, the locations such as Arlong Park or Baratie , the design and development of the characters, among others. Also, they respected the order of the story arcs of the anime, and yes, they ignore several facts, but as I mentioned, it was necessary for the creation of the live action, there are scenes that would be very complicated to make real.

    image.png source

There are several iconic scenes from the anime that were very well done in the series, but I'll mention my three favorites:

First, Sanji's farewell with Zeff at the Baratie🥺 Men have a hard time expressing their feelings, and the two of them are the best example of that. It's really touching when they have to say goodbye, since Sanji joins Luffy. Zeff is just a father who wants to see his son succeed and fulfill his dream, and Sanji knows that he owes everything he has to Zeff's sacrifices. I really love that scene, because I was able to connect with their emotions.

    image.png source

Nami asking Luffy for help to save her village is a scene that broke my heart. She's a character who has had to survive on her own, in a difficult context, for that reason she always does everything alone, she doesn't ask for help, and that's the reason why this scene carries so much weight. She trusted someone else, and asked for help in something extremely important in her life. Also, Luffy promising to do so while giving her his straw hat, his greatest treasure, creating a beautiful bond between the two, was something incredibly touching.

    image.png source

And the final scene, when everyone places their feet in the barrel while mentioning their dreams, was simply W-O-W✨ Those minutes encapsulate the true essence of the story, which is to go out into the world and pursue your dreams, no matter the different obstacles along the way, you must always remain confident in what you do; moreover, it is important to lean on peers who share your same vision, because everything is better when true friends accompany you.

    image.png source

✨Actores perfectos para el personaje || Perfect actors for the character✨

Another key factor for the success of the series was the choice of actors, all of whom were incredibly perfect in their roles. They gave the love, dedication and effort needed to bring their characters to reality.

Luffy, the captain of the crew, became one of my favorite characters in the anime world. He is outgoing, full of energy and very determined, he knows what he wants and prepared himself for years to get it, and the Mexican Iñaki Godoy is his reincarnation. This character makes you laugh with his naivety, leaves you in expectation when he gets angry and decides to fight, and inspires you by the confidence he has in his dreams, and Iñaki managed to play all that splendidly. I feel that he himself, in his daily life, is a Luffy from head to toe.

    image.png source

Sanji, when he's not preparing an exquisite meal, you'll surely find him giving villains a good kicking (or seducing some girl). I love this character, he's my fictional crush, and I'm incredibly pleased with the work done by Spanish Taz Skylar💕 Honestly, I admire this man. He trained to do his action scenes and fight as Sanji, who only uses his legs in fights; also, he took cooking classes, because that's his character's great passion. He fulfilled my fantasy of bringing an anime character to reality.

And as I mentioned at the beginning, I watched the series in both languages, since the Spanish dubbing of Luffy and Sanji was done by their actors. There are people who criticized this, especially Taz for his Spanish accent, and I totally disagree, one of the key points of One Piece is the diversity of the characters (they are traveling the world), therefore, the actor's Spanish accent was a very accurate touch for the character.

Nami is a strong and intelligent woman, ambitious, but with a huge heart, and Emily Rudd was faithful to the essence of the character💕 Emily is not only a lovely woman, but she is also a big fan of the anime, allowing her to play Nami wonderfully. She's a character I really love, I connect with her in various situations, and I admire her dream of being a cartographer and wanting to travel the world.

Zoro, played by Japanese actor Mackenyu, was a dream come true for many, because his resemblance to the character is also incredible. His action scenes were great, and I really saw Zoro's vibe in him. I know the character will become the best swordsman in the world, while Mackenyu will have many doors opened for him because of his acting.

Jacob Romero Gibson was the perfect scaredy cat of Usopp. I really am very satisfied with the actors, they were perfect for their roles, not only physically, but also their way of interpreting the character, because yes, they had a script and they knew the characteristics of the character, but it was more than a performance, you feel that they are the character, and with Jacob you have that feeling.

In addition, I must also say that the supporting actors executed a wonderful role, and I hold Shanks and Zeff in my heart ❤️ And the performance of the villains was a 10/10✨ My favorite, without a doubt, was Buggy, the actor was perfect in his role, he has that sarcasm and malice of the clown, and although he is a villain, we agree that we all love him.

    ✨Escenografía || Set design✨

I don't want to make this post longer -even though there are many things I want to comment on- but I couldn't fail to mention the beautiful set design, explaining why this has been Netflix's biggest budgeted series. The locations were very well created, those people did a wonderful job and they deserve an award, my favorite set was the Baratie's restaurant, and the details on the Going Merry's boat.

Also, we must applaud the fidelity to the style of each character, not only in the costumes, but also in the extreme care given to the details: Mihawk's eyes, Shanks' scar, the braids on Zeff's whiskers, the design of the Gyojin, the Transmitter Shells, and I could go on with the list. And adding "Wanted" posters when each criminal appears I loved, along with the different "One Piece" logos depending on the plot of the chapter, and even the credits with the map is beautiful.

  8. One Piece (2023)@sheikhshaon1010d

Hello friends how are you all? Alhamdulillah I am fine. There was a time when pirates ruled the seas and those who traveled from one country to another by sea were often robbed by pirates. As a result, in order to ensure the safety of people's lives and property at sea, the governments of various countries give orders to arrest pirates and try to make people's travel by sea comfortable and safe.

As a result, pirates' robberies on the sea route have decreased a lot, but still people sometimes admit to robbery on the sea route and many times people even lose their lives to the pirates. And most of this problem started to decrease when air travel was invented by people to travel from one country to another. But the interesting thing is that when attempts were made to destroy the pirates from the sea, an era of pirates surprisingly began. After that, the age of pirates slowly came to an end and the sea route started to become normal again.

But today I will tell you about a new series, where we can see and know the beginning of the reign of pirates in a very nice and interesting way. At the same time, we can see how greedy and violent people become for wealth, and how people want to turn their lives into pirates. The beginning of the age of pirates through the TV series will be seen very interestingly through today's TV series. Let us first introduce today's interesting new movie.

    Review:

Early on in the series, Marine Chief Garp attempts to end the reign of the Sea Pirates by killing the King of the Sea Pirates in public, and ushers in a new age of pirates in pursuit of the riches hidden in the sea. As a result, all people start to realize their dreams of becoming pirates for the treasure hidden in the place called One Piece. Where the marines sought to destroy the pirates of the seas, the people began to become pirates out of greed for wealth.

After that, we see Luffy, who grew up dreaming of becoming a famous pirate and gained superpowers by accidentally eating Devil Fruit as a child. In the present day, Luffy sets sail alone with a small boat to a place called One Piece, and the pirates board Alvida's ship as the boat sinks and floats out to sea on a drum. There, the pirate Alvida is seen killing civilians without finding Zoro among the civilians, and cleans up the place with cabin boy Koby after the killing. Koby finds Luffy in the ship's drum and the two apparently become friends.

As a result, Koby helps Luffy escape at night while everyone on the ship sleeps, and they are captured by the pirate Alvida. However, Luffy uses his superpowers to throw Alvida into the sea, and Luffy leaves for the marine ship with Koby. Koby dreams of becoming a grown up from a small boy and today it is going to be fulfilled by Luffy. However, it can be seen that, along with Luffy on the marine ship, a girl named Nami also went to steal the Mefti to go to One Piece from the marine ship. Luffy also finds Zoro there who is a good fighter and a good person.

It is then seen that Luffy, Zoro and Nami resist the marines and steal the map to One Piece and escape. On the other hand, Koby started working as a Marine. Pirates Buggy the Clown and Marine Chief Garp soon learn of the map's theft. As a result, Garp orders his ship's officers to track down the thief, while Buggy the Clown plans to steal the map again, trapping Luffy, Zoro, and Nami. However, Luffy, Zoro and Nami use their wits to defeat Buggy the Clown and escape.

After that, Luffy, Zoro and Nami's ship starts sinking and they go to a nearby island where Luffy chooses a ship to buy. Also on that ship they befriended one of Usopp's nades and took them to Kaya, the ship's owner. It is seen there, Klahadore tries to take over all of Kaya's possessions by killing Kaya with the opportunity to serve, and Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp try to kill Klahadore and save Kaya's life. As a result, Kaya is happy and gives the ship to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and they leave for One Piece.

  9. One Piece is the best live action based on a manga@claudio831011d

Until a few years ago, I was a fan of Japanese manga and anime, I had entered that wonderful world of drawings, colors and above all compelling plots. I have read the most famous manga such as One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note and many others, as well as having also seen anime. In recent years, the trend has arisen to transport manga to the big screen of international cinema, with real actors playing the parts of characters created by a pencil.

    girl-3653213_1280.jpg Source

The first great difficulty in accepting a transposition of anime on cinema screens is precisely overcoming the image of the original character. It's difficult for me to watch an actor disguised as Naruto, I can't accept that his face is so different from the original, despite the great help of makeup and technology.

All the live action films I watched on TV were rejected by me, I was unable to go beyond the first few minutes of a film. I am a great lover of the masterpiece created by Eiichirō Oda and I have rejected the live action since its creation was still a rumor. A few weeks ago Netflix advertised and launched the first season of 8 episodes and I saw the trailer: another terrible creation I thought.

But I don't know what happened inside me, the strength to watch the first episode was great, also driven by the desire to retrace the history of the manga. In fact, many years have passed since I read the first volumes. And so minute after minute, episode after episode, I became more and more glued to the TV series and, despite all my fears, I admit that the final product was truly a great live action. The choice of characters was really very good, after the first episode I already became a little fond of Monkey D. Luffy from the TV series, as well as Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji.

Although initially I'm always a little strange when approaching the characters for the first time, after a while you become fond of them, a sign that a good job of studying the protagonists of the manga has been done. In my opinion, the supervision of master Oda is also fundamental, as it allowed the live action to be very faithful to the plot and the characters themselves. A masterpiece that I'm honestly super curious to continue watching, awaiting the release of the second (of at least six) season.

And have you seen the One Piece live action? What are your opinions?

    ITA

Iban tan bien!

Hello friends of the #MoviesAndTVShows community, I send a big hug from afar to all of you who read me. Today I want to give you my review of this series that is on everyone's Top, either as an anime, manga, or live-action series.

It is known that #OnePiece is one of the oldest and longest-running Japanese animated series in the history of anime, however, no matter how many chapters the series or manga has, people currently still watch it.

The series itself has so many characters and all of them at a certain point in the story play a special and unique role that neither the sight nor the memory is enough to appreciate them all. I humbly write this post because I don't know much about the anime or the manga, I've only seen a few chapters and it's mostly because there are so many! that I feel too lazy to watch them all.

Before I continue, I will explain what this series is about and why I think it is so popular. According to the website called Planeta de Libros the series deals with the following:

It tells the story of a young man named Monkey D. Luffy, who inspired by his pirate friend Shanks, begins a journey to achieve his dream, of becoming the King of pirates, for which he must find the One Piece treasure left by the former pirate king Gol D. Roger.

Well, yes, it is a pirate story, and who doesn't like pirate stories? they are classic stories like cowboys and Indians or cops and robbers. Plots that are always going to have their fans.

And one of the things that have captivated me the most about this series is the way the main character is. A person who fights for his dreams, to fulfill them no matter what it takes as long as he does not harm anyone in his way. He watches out for the good of others, is always willing to help, and will never agree with injustice.

He also keeps a close relationship with the other characters, giving them reasons to stay with him at all costs, showing them with actions and not with words that when you want something, you fight for it until you get it. And that for him, every person's dream, no matter how silly it may sound, is important and must be fulfilled.

    **Source**

What can I say about the characters? Only that each one is special. So much so that you will be able to identify with the story of each one, which will make you get fond of and appreciate that character until he/she becomes your favorite.

One of the things I liked the most about the Live Action is that they knew how to adapt the form, style, and personality as it appears in both the manga and the anime. This is because the author of the series Eiichirō Oda was quite strict with it. Thanks to him the people at Netflix have not been able to make messes like in other adaptations they have done that have sucked.

    **Own Image**

And this happened not only with the main characters but also with the villains. All, absolutely all the actors chosen resemble the animated characters to such an extent that they look like they came out of the anime or manga.

    **Source**

As a general opinion of someone who is not a fan of this series, I think they did a great job in terms of special effects, makeup, plot, characters, and above all always keeping the essence of the story.

I liked the acting of all the actors, I can say that they got into the roles very well each one, both the protagonists and the villains. They took into account a lot of details that for true fans are totally important such as facial expressions, body gestures, and many more.

Now to finish, I want to give you my score from my point of view, I rate it with an 8/10 because for not being a fan of this saga, it has caught me and has also encouraged me to continue watching the series, even though in total there are 1073 chapters of 25 minutes each, which is equivalent to invest almost 19 days of my life to finish watching them to that point.

I say up to that point because the series is still going on, no one knows when it will end. At the moment I just hope Netflix doesn't make a mistake by including characters that don't fit the story at all like they did with Nami's sister, forcing her inclusion, which I didn't think was necessary. They were doing so well! But hey, Netflix always has an ace up its sleeve to make messes like in The Witcher.

Furthermore, I understand that they also wanted or want to set up a romance between the main characters, which Oda completely disagrees with since one of the main rules of his story is no romance between the tribulation commanded under Luffy's command.

Let's hope for a new adaptation with more arcs of this incredible series and see more adaptations of its intriguing characters.

Well dear readers, this was my general opinion of the Live Action, I hope you liked it. Let me know in the comments what you thought of it and if you have already seen it or want to see it after reading it... I have nothing left to do but say goodbye until the next post, but first I want to thank you for reading it. **Greetings! Be well!

I approve of Luffy becoming King of the Pirates!😆

Greetings dear readers, today I bring you a review about the Live Action of the anime One Piece from the point of view of a person who hasn't seen the anime. You see, although I love anime, I never dared to watch One Piece because it seemed too long. I have always been aware of the great popularity of this story, when years ago I watched Naruto, Bleach and animes that caused impact in general, One Piece was always among them, which made me curious, but not enough to get into that long-lasting production, so when the news came out that Netflix would make a Live Action, I saw the perfect opportunity to finally enjoy this story and get to know once and for all the colorful character of Monkey D. Luffy as well as his journey to become king of the pirates (I love him already ❤️).

Now, why "One Piece"? Well, the story tells that the man who has the title of "King of the Pirates" is going to be executed, but before he dies he dropped the bombshell that he has his legendary treasure (the One Piece) hidden somewhere in the vast sea and whoever finds it first gets to keep it. Nobody really knows what exactly is the One Piece, but since it is the treasure of the so-called King of Pirates, it created a huge commotion that started "The Great Age of Pirates", since lots of pirates didn't think twice and decided to go to the Grand Line, the place where the aforementioned treasure should be, to look for it.

Time passes and the One Piece has not yet been found by any pirate, but there is still hope that someone will find it, someone like our protagonist Monkey D.Luffy. This particular character has wanted to be a pirate since he was a child because of the great admiration he feels for Shanks, a pirate who took care of him for a while. Luffy was a stubborn and restless child, for this reason he ended up unknowingly eating a magic fruit (Goma Goma) that gave him the ability to stretch and do particular maneuvers. You can imagine that growing up with this ability gave him an advantage over some people, but in the world of One Piece there are plenty of characters with special skills and talents, so it is the combination of his ability, plus his positive, impulsive and persevering personality, that creates an explosive combination that makes Luffy not an easy adversary.

A pirate can't go on an adventure without a crew and Luffy knows it, so as he goes on his way he recruits members such as Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji, all people with outstanding skills that together form a great team. These characters have a story that will be told in each chapter, there are wounds to heal and uncertain paths, but Luffy manages to give them hope, purpose and motivation to start over regardless of the past they have had, he is someone who looks to the future, believes in the good and greatly respects the dreams of others, encouraging them to always seek to fulfill them.

Throughout the process of forming his crew and having already formed it, Luffy faces together with them, other pirates and even the Navy, a well respected organization that is against pirates and seeks to stop them at all costs, but none of this discourages or stops him, he is completely determined to go to the Grand Line along with his crew and find the One Piece.

One piece I noticed that it is one of those stories that has a lot of characters with depth that are given their due prominence, which I love. My favorite character at the moment is Luffy, yes, the main character, the reason for this is that I love powerful, persevering, purposeful and determined characters who are not intimidated by anyone, he knows what he is, what he wants to be and where he is going, he is not afraid to express himself or to be himself, I mean, I'm a total fan, it gives me a thousand years of life to see someone so determined.

The cast that portrays the characters from what I've seen has delighted One Piece fans and I must say that I've loved them too, even though I can't really compare them to the animated version because I haven't seen it. Aesthetically, I can easily notice that an excellent job was done and in terms of acting in my opinion everyone acted super well (I loved Helmeppo a lot, what a funny man with his facial expressions 🤣).

The main characters were brilliant, but I must highlight the villains who stole the show many times, such good performances! I particularly loved Kuro, partly because I like cats, but also because his mysterious way of being and dark style catches the eye. Speaking of style, did you guys see Mihawk?, what a man! I know this character is not a villain exactly, but his appearance left me charmed, so much power, so much coolness, so much calmness when it came to do everything he had to do, fascinating! Buggy the clown also stood out a lot, very eccentric like the Joker.

As you can already deduce from everything I wrote, I liked this Live Action a lot, its campy aesthetic keeps the essence that it is a particular story, lively and that it comes from an anime that is visually very colorful. I definitely recommend to watch it for fans and non-fans in general. Those who enjoy adventure, fantasy, deep backgrounds, different battles and an original story will enjoy watching One Piece.

  13. One Piece Live Action Review@filotasriza31023d

    image.png

For those who don't know me by now, i am a huge series, movies and anime fan. I mostly watch everything and i am one of those guys that may end up starting a series at noon and watch straight ahead 10 episodes until it's morning. Regarding anime, i have a lot of them and i have read more manga than i can count.

One Piece was one of the first anime that as a kid i started watching along with Dragonball, Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh. It was thanks to these anime that i delved into the animeverse and became a big fan, so you can imagine my surprise when i learned that One Piece would have a live-action series.

To tell you the truth this isn't the first live action adaptation, we have seen live action adaptations of DB, Bleach, The promised Neverland, Inuyashiki, JoJo, Attack on Titan, Parasyte, Gintama, Death Note, Kingdom, Rurouni Kenshin and more. By far the best ones were Rurouni Kenshin and Kingdom as it revolves around martial arts which of course is easier to make a chorography than CGI that other Anime adaptations need. JoJo was quite decent as well. The rest were mediocre at best.

Thus, at first when i heard about One Piece i thought this would be a disaster but after i watched the trailer i said to myself that "hey this may be good". So i decided to watch it, not alone though but with 3 other friends of mine. Me and another friend of mine have watched and read both the Anime and the Manga, the other one have watched only the Anime and the other guy only watched the Anime up to Crocodile. This info is important and will help us later to understand some things. Spoilers ahead beware

    image.png

    The Good

I won't bother you with what's the story about cause the vast majority of people already know that, the rest go read the manga or watch the anime instead. So let's start with some nice things that i didn't expect to be this good. The sceneries were amazing, they did a very nice work creating the islands, the towns even the ships. We knew that One Piece had one of the biggest budgets and the truth is that for once you could actually see that.

Moving on the CGI was amazing, the sea monsters, luffy's and Buggy's attacks and literally everywhere they used CGI it was like the real deal. Most of the time and especially when you watch live-action adaptations one of the things that is terrible is the CGI but once again the money that was utilized from the budget were used properly. Especially, the CGI of the Sea King that took the eye of Shanks was dead spot on!

Regarding, the costumes they also did great work but the greatest of all was the acting. Most of the actors (let's be realists here) looked like the manga characters that we all loved and they all seemed passionate about One Piece even if they haden't watched it. Their acting was incredible and i hope when season 2 arrives, to find more great actors like that.

    image.png

    The Bad

Now let's start with the bad. I read mostly positive reviews which i don't think describe the actual reality. Most of these people in my opinion ofc, are either fans that simply will say that One Piece is the best no matter what or people that don't actually remember the story or have watched/read the Anime/Manga.

To begin with the fight scenes even though they were good, they last only a couple of minutes if not seconds and ended very quickly. You can say anything that you want about the screentime or the budget but you can't have iconic fights that end up with 2-3 punches. The last fight with Arlong for example literally had 2-3 moves from Luffy's side. We are talking about one of the biggest fights early on. Not even Hachi appeared...

Also, another awesome fight that lasted a lot in the Anime, was the one with Krieg. Instead, we only saw Krieg for 1 minute in the series and then never again. The same happened with the Black Cat Pirates. A great fight in the anime with Jango boosting the pirates and ofc we didn't even see Jango...

    image.png

    The Ugly

Now let's talk about the ugly. For someone who has read the manga and watched the anime, the plot was something entirely different. Ofc they followed the general path with the main characters and islands but they changed everything else and don't tell me it was due to the screentime.

We had Koby almost having the same screen time for literally no reason. Mostly every fight that happened in the manga or anime changed places in the series. Buggy (By the way the actor was pretty cool) had his entire crew together and the next moment he was alone. Where the crew go for a drink? Jango and Hachi, some very cool characters that can be seen later in the anime never appeared in the first place. Arlong went to Baratie? Buggy's head went to Arlong's place? Come on guys...

    image.png

    Overall

Overall, for me One Piece was mediocre at best even though i consider it one of the best live action adaptations along with Rurouni Kenshin. The budget seemed to be well-spent and the actors were not only similar in appearance but their acting was great. Honestly, next season i would like for the directors and everyone that takes decisions to focus on making more lenghty fights. I would also like to focus on the plot as well. You literally have the script ready you just need to adapt it. You can cut some scenes if you want but stop changing the fights, skipping moves and charachters while you give screentime to Koby for no reason.

  14. One piece live action series 4 first episodes@steemychicken11025d

When it was first announced that there would be a live adaptation of One Piece, I did not take it very positively. In general anime and live adaptation is a painful story. Especially when you're dealing with one piece, which has many supernatural elements and generally a grotesque aesthetic.

And indeed, when I saw the first trailer (after of course I sat down and looked up the budget of the series and was shocked) because of my "defenses" I didn't go crazy. Of course, the next ones left me with a positive feeling. Having already seen the first 4 episodes, these positive vibes are not only there, but have become... a treat. For me it is excellent so far. And to understand each other. Great for what it wants to do. That is, a transfer of an anime to a "realistic" medium. Yes, obviously, it's not possible in a universe where they talk on the phone through snails with swollen lips and instead turn into rubber, wait until you see I know... Black sails (series btw for those who haven't seen it). And I liked that more than anything. In an era, when especially in fantasy or sci-fi, there is a logic "put a lot of cgi, shoot 4-5 trailer scenes", make a good promo and it will "sell". Except that this " laziness" and lack of serious engagement and "friction" and love for what you want to do... well they show.. one piece is the exact opposite. It seems, boy to me the attempt to give the texture of the universe, it seems that there is respect for the source material and love in the choice of characters (Buggy is awesome and Inaki as luffy and in general so far I have not seen bad casting and acting in anyone). Now ok there are a few times where the too much cgi hits you a little badly, but generally you get used to it (at least I do).Even for the costumes I've seen some comments on, I think they're on purpose a bit like... (Good) cosplay and not quite "realistic" It is within his framework to preserve this cartoonish and grotesque element.

For the brave still reading. In the end, avoiding technical discussions or thoughtful analysis ,art is ultimately judged by whether it succeeds in giving you feelings, in giving you this purification of pleasure. And yes man, so far one piece does that. It gave me full of a sweet nostalgia, a love for the universe and an anticipation to see what happens next (even though I know). So I think that it will be enjoyed by every fan of anime and manga, who is not toxic or doesn't want to sell blackberries with his "differentiation from the mass", but also those who like fantasy and fairy tales that in their apparent simplicity they also have something to say and above all they make you have a really pleasant time for an hour outside the misery of reality. And that they know how to do all this well. Because: 1) they respect the original material, 2) they know what it is and are ok with it

  15. [ENG-ESP] One Piece - don't miss this tremendous Netflix series (NO SPOILERS)@theinfiltred1027d

    image.png

Have you seen One Piece yet? Yes, I'm talking about the new live-action series adapted by Netflix based on the manga and its anime version. Premiering in August 2023, One Piece tells the story of a boy who wishes to find a hidden treasure that lies offshore, who, with his crew, faces different challenges in order to fulfill his dream. I can comment that I did not have the opportunity to watch its animated version or even its comic book, but I dare say that it is one of the best in-person series produced by Netflix to date.

    ktytylktyk.jpg

Starring Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Arata Mackenyu, Taz Skylar, Morgan Davies, Jacob Gibson and Vincent Regan, One Piece is a very charismatic series that quickly connects with the audience with a spectacular cast and a story that knows how to combine the classic with the modern. Buggy (Jeff Ward) is a character who is loved from his first appearance, playing a "Joker" that inspires terror but at the same time causes laughter that infects the screen.

    yktrrtjrt.jpg

In the main role, Iñaki, is a great actor who brings us Monkey D. Luffy in the flesh giving his best in every scene; but Arata's performance as Zoro was undoubtedly the one I loved the most as a viewer, for playing a somber and serious character with a bit of youth which is who gives the series that mature tone it needs.

    hreherher.jpg

Special effects are at the height of any film of the same company and even greater than others like Disney, Marvel or DC, getting an A in it. Both the sea, the towns even the CGI are characterized by a great fidelity to the real and the heuristic, with vivid and very representative colors that make you want to see scenes repeatedly.

    jrtkrtjrtj.jpg

Here emphasis is not only given to the main characters, but also to the villains and supporting characters, who accompany their script with a naturalness as if they were all born for the role. Almost no actor is highly recognized but this did not prevent many from making their debut on the small screen with a performance difficult to forget.

    jrtrjrt.jpg

Other actors who stand out, although their scenes are rather considered cameos are: Peter Gadiot, McKinley Belcher lll, Craig Fairbrass, Stevel Marc and Rory Acton Burnell. I would also like to comment, as a viewer myself, that I liked this series so much that I think it should be studied in depth in theater schools and universities in the future because of the great commitment of the actors to their characters and their development as independent material. No more!

    nfmfgnfgm.jpg

Juvenile, it could be considered, but One Piece is more like an adult series played by a young cast, with very violent scenes, lots of action and blood that appears only five minutes after it starts.

    reherjerje.jpg

The teaching of this series is more about achieving the goals that one has as a person and sets out to achieve and fulfill our deepest dreams and desires, no matter what. Undoubtedly, besides its heartbreaking scenes it is a very sentimental and deep series that easily touches the heart, you don't have to be an anime fan for it, it will anyway.

    hjerher.jpg

As a personal opinion, One Piece can open endless possibilities of other manga adaptations to real life, since it achieved its goal in thousands of viewers around the world. I watched it in less than 24 hours, hooked from episode to episode without assimilating the time. The second season should be out next year so I'm already looking forward to it, and I also have a lot of faith in the reboot of Avatar that we will witness in 2024, which will surely be as good or better than this peculiar series. My favorite scene was the triple draw of Zoro's swords in the first chapter. What was yours, if you've already seen it?

  20. Review - One Piece, Season 1@thunderjack1073d

One Piece, Season 1, ran for 61 episodes, and I watched it over the period of several months, finishing that first leg of the series ealier this week. What attracted me to the series was having seen One Piece: Red in the theater last summer. At that point, My Bonnie Bride and I had no clue about what the heck was going on or anything about the many characters in the film. Thus, finding it was available on Hulu in an English dub, I set out to watch the series, and I am glad I did. NOTE – there will be some minor spoilers as I explore the reasons why I like this series.

    *One Piece* series - [IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388629/mediaviewer/rm3995109633/?ref_=tt_ov_i)

If you are not familiar with the series (and you can skip this paragraph if you are familiar with it) is about a young man, Monkey D. Luffy, who wants to become King of the Pirates, just like the first King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. Luffy has many adventures during the start of his (not exactly) piratical career and manages to gather several people around him as both crew and friends. That’s the general plot of the series. We also get a lot of backstory for the major characters and a view of their world and how it works, and their world has a lot of depth to it. It is no wonder that it is one of the most popular series in both Anime and Manga. Eiichiro Oda has done a magnificent job of weaving an interesting story and world together, it has become hard to not want more.

The important part of the stories are the major themes that run through the series, and the first two are closely intertwined with each other: friendship and loyalty. As he meets and becomes friends with people, and they choose to join him on his quest, we learn the importance of friendship to Luffy. Once he decides that someone is his friend, they learn just what kind of a good guy he is. Take Nami, for instance – she is reluctant to accept his friendship at the start, and even betrays their friendship stealing their ship, The Going Merry; but as her own backstory unfolds, she finds that she regrets her actions and is surprised when Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp come to her aid. In fact, one of the more telling scenes is when Luffy tells her “You will always be my friend”. I am paraphrasing there a bit. However, that shows how important friendship, true friendship is important to the main characters and results in their loyalty to Luffy and to each other, just as Luffy is completely loyal to his friends. And they are more friends than crew. Also, it shows how friendship binds them together throughout the various trials they go through on their own personal quests and adventures together, each one contributing to the others in the group. And they are completely loyal to each other, willing to go the extra mile to help their friends, although Nami is still a bit of a mercenary at heart when it comes to money. But, hey, we all have little quirks.

I think that the third major theme is self-sacrifice, and the reason for that is Luffy consistently puts his life on the line, even to the point of possibly dying, to help not just his friends and crewmates, but for others as well, even those who initially great him with suspicion as he is so open about being a pirate (yet he doesn’t do anything that is really piratical in nature, except beating up Marines set out to fight pirates). He suffers some pretty serious wounds, and at several times nearly dies while the rest of his companions try to figure out how to save him.

Those are some of the reasons I find One Piece to be an enjoyable series, and you may find it so as well. There are other reasons as well. Although the animation is not cinematic in quality, it is of a good quality, and complemented by excellent artwork.

    from *One Piece* Season 1, episode 37 - [IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0965142/mediaviewer/rm1194722817/?ref_=tt_md_6)

The story, however is king, and it is heavily character driven as we learn about the various characters and the world they live in. Luffy, being the main character of the series, is a bit more complex than you realize at first, and his staunch loyalty and the ease with which he makes friends his due to his childhood interactions with Red-Haired Shanks, another pirate who befriended Luffy years earlier. Shanks has an easy-going way about him for the most part, and even puts his life out on the limb for Luffy, thus embedding that same type of characteristic on Luffy. There is a fair amount of action, and a lot of cliffhangers throughout each story-line as we proceed through the series, although sometimes the pacing of the story can be a bit slow while we learn about who all these different people are, and not just Luffy and company, but the many bad guys they battle as well. It’s all good stuff.

I probably identify with Zoro and Sanji best – Zoro for swordsmanship (I used to do a fair amount of fencing in college, and sword fighting in the SCA once upon a time); Sanji because I enjoy cooking and am pretty good at it (the main reason My Bonnie Bride keeps me around). In fact, I am toying with putting together a suitable rig to be Sanji sometime, or maybe even Gold Roger as then I wouldn’t have to shave my mustache.

One thing to note, for an animated series, it is not child friendly as there is a lot of profanity being slung around. Maybe this is normal Anime/Manga style, but this needs to be pointed out that it may not be suitable for younger minds. Teenagers, on the other hand, if they are like I was, they won’t learn any new naughtly words. They’ve heard them all by now.

That’s it for this time around. If you have seen One Piece, please feel free to tell me what you like about it, or write a post discussing it. I would like to hear what others think about it One Piece.

    Thanks for stopping by.

One Piece then. finally we have official traile , two words about the specific project. ▪️In 2017 the series was announced with preproducrion starting. ▪️Dear Oda is an executive producer with a big role in casting the main actors and overseeing/correcting the script. ▪️Filming was completed last year in South Africa, entire sets/villages and full size ships were built. (fan fact on the same premises where Black Sails was filmed) ▪️We have so far a list of about 30 actors participating and more will be announced with the names of the Dragon, Roger and Smoker actors still being kept secret. ▪️The 10 (or 8) episodes of the first season will take us to the end of East Blue, i.e. to the entrance to the Grand Line (chapter 100). ▪️According to showrunner Matt Owens, the series will follow the manga as much as possible and their purpose is to reach Oda's story to a world that does not prefer anime/manga. ▪️We don't know the budget as Netflix rarely announces it. But from combinations of factors and producers it becomes clear that this is one of the biggest investments of the company comparable and

My opinion after years of following the developments is that something worthwhile is coming that has so far avoided the mistakes made by similar projects in the past!

What i am expecting? To be truthful almost not a single anime that adapted into a live action movie was good ! With few exceptions! One piece requires special CGI to be a good watch i hope that they can do it ! But i i have low expectations because of previous adaptations and because i love one piece and dont want to be disappointed!

But i am really excited to watch it !

  22. One Piece Thriller Bark (337-381)@dlstudios1323d

As normal, this isn't so much a review as it is just me going over One Piece arc by arc for the first time having never seen the show before. If you have not seen the Thriller Bark arc of One Piece, avoid this review as I'll likely go into spoilers. On with the rest of the post!

If this arc ended when the crew first met Brook and he answered yes to joining the Straw Hats, I would not have minded. From the moment he was introduced, Brook has been hilarious. That said, going with a full story arc was probably for the best. I was legit surprised when they tied his back story back in with Laboon back from when the crew first entered The Grand Line. I don't know how far ahead Oda planned for Brook, but it does all come together very nicely. Brook was probably the character that I grew to like faster than any other. Even though I had to look up why the forty-five-degree angle joke was funny, I still laughed when I learned why. This guy's pun game is on point.

That said, despite my love for Brook, I can't say Thriller Bark is one of the best arcs I've seen, there have been a fair number of problems I've had with it. The biggest one is it feels like it can drag things out a lot longer than it needs to, as well as some nowhere plot twists that pull me out of it. Both of these issues I have with the fight against the strongest zombie Moria created, Oars. The entire Straw Hat Crew just can't do anything about Oars, everything they try gets shut down. And this fight goes on for a good long while, and its resolution comes in big part because people that just suddenly showed up found out, off screen mind you, that released shadows could be captured and put into someone else to boost their strength. Luffy is stuffed with one hundred shadows and suddenly goes on to absolutely wreck Oars. Eventually, the shadows leave Luffy and the fight goes on as normal, but it starts to feel like they just dragged this fight out way longer than was necessary. You could have done the same thing without Shadow Luffy at all, and I think the fight would have been better for it.

Sanji also seems to be the Strawhat that is made to look worse again, and I don't understand why. The way he just up and loses Nami after finding her just makes him look a bit daft, and again there wasn't a need for it. Could have just had him win this fight, and let Nami go on to do her thing. It's not like Absolom did anything important after this. It's just another thing that seems to be padding out the length of the arc in addition to making Sanji look silly.

The negative is out of the way, there are still many fantastic fights in this arc. My personal favorite was Ussop versus Perona. At first, I wasn't looking forward to the fight, because as soon as they realized what the ghosts did, I realized Ussop was going to be the one to take on whoever was controlling them. That said, the show committed to the joke by having Perona try to cheer up Ussop because of how utterly pathetic he seemed to be to resist the power of her ghosts. The whole fight got even better when Ussop starts arguing with himself in his mind, but the two people arguing are himself and Sogeking, which seems to imply Ussop's character development has been him losing his mind and developing a split personality that is almost identical to his personality. I loved this.

I know I said more negatively about this arc, but everything it does right is basically what One Piece has always done right. I loved the characters, a lot of great fights, and more that prevents the above-mentioned issues from ruining an otherwise great arc.

When I do my next One Piece write-up, I'll not do an arc-by-arc thing like I have been doing, but I will be talking about all arcs involved in the Summit War Saga.
