Siempre he creído en la frase "Nunca es tarde para ver una película" (hasta la pienso patentar), pero ahora debo usar la de "Nunca es tarde para recomendar un película" estas dos frases se unen por primera vez en una publicación de mi autoría y creo que desde este momento la usaré mucho más, eso porque por fin me decidí de escribir sobre uno de los mejores films del año pasado, una sorpresa por lo divertida, bien actuada y muy bien escrita porque une muchos factores que se han visto en otros films, pero como también pienso la poca originalidad en el cine puede ser contrarrestada si se usa de buena manera y eso fue lo que sucedió en esta historia.

I have always believed in the phrase "It's never too late to see a movie" (I'm even thinking of patenting it), but now I must use the one "It's never too late to recommend a movie" these two phrases come together for the first time in a publication of my authorship and I think that from this moment on I will use it much more, I finally decided to write about one of the best films of last year, a surprise because it was funny, well acted and very well written because it unites many factors that have been seen in other films, but as I also think the little originality in movies can be counteracted if it is used in a good way and that is what happened in this story.
"Palm Springs" es una comedia romántica y ciencia ficción la cual relata la historia de Nyles, un hombre que va a una boda en Palm Springs acompañando a su novia quien es una de las damas de honor, en algún momento de esta celebración quedará atrapado en un Time Loop repitiendo el día de la boda por un tiempo indefinido, esto hará que ya un conformista Nyles siempre busque como disfrutar el mismo día, lo que no sabe es que sus actos podrán tener consecuencias y eso lo descubrirá cuando Sarah, otra dama de honor, quedé atrapada también en el Loop, es por eso que está pareja deberá buscar la forma de regresar a la normalidad o tal vez quedarse estancados en un lugar sin responsabilidad.
"Palm Springs" is a romantic comedy and science fiction which tells the story of Nyles, a man who goes to a wedding in Palm Springs accompanying his girlfriend who is one of the bridesmaids, at some point in this celebration he will be trapped in a Time Loop repeating the wedding day for an indefinite time, This will make a conformist Nyles always looking to enjoy the same day, what he does not know is that his actions may have consequences and that will discover when Sarah, another bridesmaid, was also trapped in the Loop, that's why this couple must find a way to return to normal or maybe stay stuck in a place without responsibility.
La dirección vino por parte de Max Barbakow, este es el primer film que veo de este director, creo que su desempeño es bueno, siempre enfocado en sus protagonistas desde el comienzo del día hasta el momento que ellos deciden ponerle fin para después comenzar con la misma toma, hubo muchas cosas que me gusto en su dirección más que nada e las escenas de la fiesta de la boda en donde son las que más se repiten tanto como las escenas cuando se despiertan, se ve que tuvo mucho cuidado y dirigió muy bien a los actores principales; como dije su trabajo fue bueno, pero tampoco demuestra algo muy sobresaliente y que pueda destacarse, aunque en su simpleza ayuda mucho a contar la historia siempre enfocada en sus protagonista, en principal en Sarah.
La historia es tanto de Barbakow como de Andy Siara quien escribió el guion; este también significa el primer trabajo que veo de este escritor y debo decir que para mí es perfecto, la historia es sin ninguna duda lo mejor, si préstamos atención a simple vista a historia es justamente eso, simple, un hombre y una mujer se encuentra estancados en un Time Loop y deben buscar una forma de escapar, sí es que en realidad quieren eso, así de simple es, pero cuando se le presta atención podemos observar que es mucho más, es una historia de cómo adultos pueden tener una ventaja de escapar de responsabilidades y vivir tal vez una libertad, sintiéndose poderosos en saber que al despertar, estarán vivos y así disfrutar de hacer cualquier cosa sin ninguna consecuencia, dejando atrás problemas y aferrándose a un día sin fin, tal vez por momentos podamos pensar que estamos en un film que va contra las reglas de este tipo de historias, pero creo que vivir y hacer siempre lo mismo siempre tendrá una consecuencia y eso puede hacer que nos motive a romper el loop.
The direction came from Max Barbakow, this is the first film I see from this director, I think his performance is good, always focused on his protagonists from the beginning of the day until the moment they decide to end it and then start with the same shot, there were many things that I liked in his direction more than anything and the scenes of the wedding party where they are the most repeated as well as the scenes when they wake up, you can see that he was very careful and directed very well to the main actors; as I said his work was good, but it does not show something very outstanding and that can stand out, although in its simplicity helps a lot to tell the story always focused on its protagonists, mainly on Sarah.
The story is by both Barbakow and Andy Siara who wrote the screenplay; this also means the first work I see from this writer and I must say that for me it is perfect, the story is without any doubt the best, if you pay attention at first sight the story is just that, simple, a man and a woman are stuck in a Time Loop and they must find a way to escape, yes they really want that, it is that simple, but when you pay attention we can see that it is much more, it is a story of how adults can have an advantage to escape from responsibilities and live maybe a freedom, feeling powerful in knowing that when they wake up, they will be alive and so enjoy doing anything without any consequence, leaving behind problems and clinging to an endless day, maybe for moments we can think that we are in a film that goes against the rules of this kind of stories, but I believe that living and doing always the same thing will always have a consequence and that can make us motivated to break the loop.
Las actuaciones son muy buenas; no soy mucho de ver Brooklyn 99 (sé que debo ver todas las temporadas), pero cuando la veo disfruto mucho de Andy Samberg, tal como se sucedía cuando veía SNL, pero eso era en estas series porque en films no había visto mucho, puedo decir que está es la primera vez que veo un film completo de este actor y su actuación me gustó, es cómica y bien hecha a pesar de que se pueda pensar que es más de lo mismo, pero eso que puede importar ya que no estamos hablando de una historia de Shakespeare ni mucho menos, ahora su interpretación de Nyles es convincente, un hombre con una relación y vida miserable que al vivir el mismo día tiene el chance de hacer lo que quiera sin responder a nadie, esto para mí no lo hace el bueno de la película porque su personaje es un completo irresponsable e inmaduro, creo que nadie debería ser como él o por lo menos no por tanto tiempo; la actuación de Cristin Milioti es igual de buena que de Samberg, su personaje Sarah es todo lo contrario a lo que es Nyles, ella si tiene algo que perder en el día que debe repetir de por vida, sus días con Nyles se convierten en un escape y eso lo interpreta muy bien, no está feliz con lo que está viviendo antes de caer en el loop y ahora solo debe encajar en su nueva vida que para nada es perfecta, pero piensa que es lo mejor; ambos personajes son muy buenos, la química de estos dos actores también lo es y creo que su diferencia tal como están escritos e interpretados es otro de los puntos positivos de este film.
The performances are very good; I'm not one to watch the series Brooklyn 99 (I know I should watch all the seasons), but when I watch it I really enjoy Andy Samberg, just like I did when I watched SNL, but that was in these series because in films I hadn't seen much, I can say that this is the first time I watch a complete film of this actor and I liked his performance, it's comical and well done even though you may think it's more of the same, but what can that matter since we are not talking about a Shakespeare story by far, now his interpretation of Nyles is convincing, a man with a miserable relationship and life that living the same day has the chance to do whatever he wants without answering to anyone, this for me does not make him the good of the film because his character is a complete irresponsible and immature, I think no one should be like him or at least not for so long; the acting of Cristin Milioti is just as good as Samberg, her character Sarah is the complete opposite of what Nyles is, she does have something to lose in the day she must repeat for life, her days with Nyles become an escape and she plays that very well, she is not happy with what she is living before falling into the loop and now she just must fit into her new life which is not perfect at all, but she thinks it's for the best; both characters are very good, the chemistry of these two actors is also very good and I think their difference as they are written and played is another of the positive points of this film.
Palm Springs es un gran film, es divertido, tiene buenos temas sobre la relación de pareja, sobre la expectativa que se crean otras personas sobre las relaciones amorosas que podamos tener, las expectativas que tenemos nosotros mismos sobre como seremos en una relación, también toca el tema de responsabilidad de nuestros actos, de madurar, de tener miedo al dar un paso de fe, de confiar en otros, creo que este film se puede esconder en ser catalogado como una comedia romántica, pero es una buena historia que habla sobre muchas cosas que pueden sentir personas sobre vivir o tener una relación y también está el asunto de vivir en un loop, eso también es importante porque siempre he creído que estas situaciones tienen algo de humor, el repetir cada vez un día y buscar que desencadena esa situación y como revertirla, creo que ya he visto diferentes películas que pueden tocar ese tema y este respeta alguna que otra ley haciéndola funcionar muy bien; como pueden ver esta película me gustó mucho, es una de las mejores que he visto, es la mejor comedia romántica que he visto y debo decir que este género no es mi favorito; si por casualidad no la han visto, se las recomiendo.
Palm Springs is a great film, it's funny, it has good themes about the relationship, about the expectation that other people create about the love relationships that we can have, the expectations that we have ourselves about how we will be in a relationship, it also addresses the issue of responsibility for our actions, of maturing, of being afraid to take a step of faith, of trusting others, I think this film can hide in being categorized as a romantic comedy, but it is a good story that talks about many things that people can feel about living or having a relationship and there is also the issue of living in a loop, that is also important because I have always believed that these situations have some humor, to repeat each time a day and look for what triggers that situation and how to reverse it, I think I've seen different movies that can touch that theme and this one respects some other law making it work very well; as you can see I really liked this movie, it is one of the best I have seen, it is the best romantic comedy I have seen and I must say that this genre is not my favorite; if by any chance you have not seen it, I recommend it.
