About the movie
"The Dirt" is not just a movie – It is a real, raw and chaotic story by the famous band of Mötley Crüe. The film is adapted by the self-biography written by the band themselves, who share their personal stories about how they grew up and their journey climbing over the famous ladder to the top.
If you’re a fan of punk and rock music, I am sure you will enjoy the ride.
Disclaimer
However, I need to put here a disclaimer, a warning: this movie includes scenes involving sex, drugs, as well as wild behavior. This may be found disturbing or offensive to some viewers, so please be ware and note that the movie is +18.
Overall, the movie captures very well (and maybe even accurately) the rebellious spirit and madness that defined the 80s era.
The actors really did and amazing job portraying the band members showing both their their intense highs and lows during the movie. There may (or no) be some exaggerated content (and all we know that there was too much happening behind the scenes back then), but I felt like all the movie elements felt solid. Plot, photography-screen play and also the direction were really great.
The cinematography and overall style showed some really 80s vibes. (I admit that I would really want to read the book at some point to be able and compare them both)
The Neflix category showed comedy, but I did not see many comedic elements per se (even though there are some scenes that can bring a smile on your face). The film could be characterized as a music drama with a few comic elements and one of the reasons I recommend it is because of its underlying message:
no matter why and how far someone falls, there can still be a chance to bounce back – maybe even a third or fourth chance if luck (and some good friends) are on your side.
The movie has a good 7/10 in imdb - and I fully agree, perhaps even by a little higher.
I would recommend it, but please do read the disclaimer above and watch it at your own risk. Note that it is an 1h 47m movie, so you definitely want to take that under consideration too.
I did not feel sleepy at all during my watch time (and I usually fall asleep and this is why I do not review more movies, I rarely see the endings :))
Tip
Don’t rush off when the credits show at the end – there’s a little something extra behind-the-scenes that are cool to watch.
Also, I think I was watching it louder than I should because I received a few complaints (Saw it after midnight - I think it deserves to be heard loud!)
Will you watch this movie? Have you already seen it? Let me know!
