I saw this movie a couple of years after its release. The good reviews caught my attention and I found it an interesting film. It is independent cinema. Shot with a very low budget, unknown actors for the time, and where Sean Baker was in charge of practically everything. Operator, script, direction, editing, photography, casting, I'm sure he even looked for the wardrobe.

What caught the attention of many at the time, is that the film was shot entirely with Iphone cell phones, specifically with the model 5. Obviously the color was modified in the post-production process, but the fact that Iphone was used grabbed headlines in some film portals.

The use of smartphones of the manzanita brand, gives it an almost documentary style. A style that the director had already shown with Take Out, which I will write about soon and also another that I have yet to see. The Prince of Broadway. It is this documentary air that gives more realism to his scenes, as well as a very dirty texture.

Vi esta película un par de años después de su estreno. Las buenas críticas me llamaron la atención y me pareció una película interesante. Es cine independiente. Rodada con muy bajo presupuesto, actores desconocidos para la época, y donde Sean Baker se encargó prácticamente de todo. Operador, guión, dirección, montaje, fotografía, casting, seguro que hasta buscó el vestuario.

Lo que llamó la atención de muchos en su momento, es que la película fue rodada íntegramente con moviles Iphone, concretamente con el modelo 5. Evidentemente el color se modificó en el proceso de postproducción, pero el hecho de que se utilizara Iphone acaparó titulares en algunos portales de cine.

El uso de smartphones de la marca de la manzanita, le da un estilo casi documental. Un estilo que el director ya había mostrado con Take Out, de la que escribiré próximamente y también de otra que tengo pendiente de ver. El príncipe de Broadway. Es ese aire documental el que le da más realismo a sus escenas, a la vez que una textura muy sucia.

Set in a city that many associate with glamour, fame and show business, what we see is the shit. Marginal areas and characters. Sleazy businesses, streets of drug dealers, alleys where prostitution is practiced. Everything that a tourist is NOT going to photograph to show off on social networks. It is a constant in the films of this filmmaker and in all of them he does it with great respect, he does not pretend to judge his characters, nor their professions, nor their mistakes. He shows them with their virtues and defects, letting them live, because they are beings who also have aspirations, dreams, looking for a happiness that seems to flee them.

Sad lives. A lot of sadness is transmitted in his characters. They are the losers, the excluded. African-American transsexual prostitutes are the two main characters. Without Dee, who has just been released from prison and when she asks her best friend about her boyfriend, she discovers that he has been unfaithful with another prostitute, a biological woman. This fact triggers the whole plot of the film, as she will look for the unfortunate woman who slept with her man, not realizing that the problem is her boyfriend, who is a pimp.

Alexandra, the other transsexual prostitute, who dreams of being a successful singer and invites everyone to her performance that night, where she will receive the blow of reality, realizing that in the city of dreams, not all of them come true.

Razmik, is another character, with a subplot that intersects with the main one, is an Armenian immigrant who works as a cab driver and loves to hire transsexual prostitutes. He has a wife and children, as well as a nagging mother-in-law, one of those who seem to detest him. What little we see of him conveys that he is trapped in a life he doesn't want.

Although dramatic at its core, the plot presents hilarious situations. There is energy and fast pacing in some of the funnier moments. The sequence in the cafeteria with all the characters present is hilarious. A delightful film that, following the filmmaker's style, shows us ugliness in a beautiful way.

Ambientada en una ciudad que muchos asocian con el glamour, la fama y el espectáculo, lo que vemos es la mierda. Zonas y personajes marginales. Negocios de mala muerte, calles de traficantes, callejones donde se ejerce la prostitución. Todo lo que un turista NO va a fotografiar para presumir en las redes sociales. Es una constante en las películas de este cineasta y en todas ellas lo hace con mucho respeto, no pretende juzgar a sus personajes, ni sus profesiones, ni sus errores. Los muestra con sus virtudes y defectos, dejándolos vivir, porque son seres que también tienen aspiraciones, sueños, buscando una felicidad que parece huirles.

Vidas tristes. Se transmite mucha tristeza en sus personajes. Son los perdedores, los excluidos. Las prostitutas transexuales afroamericanas son las dos protagonistas. Sin Dee, que acaba de salir de la cárcel y cuando pregunta a su mejor amiga por su novio, descubre que éste le ha sido infiel con otra prostituta, una mujer biológica. Este hecho desencadena toda la trama de la película, ya que ella buscará a la desgraciada que se acostó con su hombre, sin darse cuenta de que el problema es su novio, que es un proxeneta.

Alexandra, la otra prostituta transexual, que sueña con ser una cantante de éxito e invita a todos a su actuación de esa noche, donde recibirá el golpe de la realidad, dándose cuenta de que en la ciudad de los sueños, no todos se hacen realidad.

Razmik, es otro de los personajes, con una subtrama que se cruza con la principal, es un inmigrante armenio que trabaja como taxista y le encanta contratar prostitutas transexuales. Tiene mujer e hijos, además de una suegra regañona, de esas que parecen detestarle. Lo poco que vemos de él transmite estar atrapado en una vida que no desea.

Dramática en el fondo, la trama presenta situaciones hilarantes. Hay energía y ritmo trepidante en algunos de los momentos más graciosos. La secuencia en la cafetería con todos los personajes presentes es divertidísima. Una película deliciosa que siguiendo el estilo del cineasta nos muestra la fealdad de una manera hermosa.

Synopsis: A meeting between friends in a country house far from the city doesn't go exactly as planned, and after an unexpected murder occurs, they are all in danger because someone is not exactly who they say they are.

Considering all the movie genres, I believe that one of the ones that can most easily adapt to the new things that are presented to society (in general) is horror. Precisely, in the current days, one of these themes that is very broad, and that has already been heavily explored, is the use of artificial intelligence. In this film, the main idea even manages to have a really interesting foundation, but unfortunately, this script loses its own relevance as it tries to be constructed throughout its somewhat chaotic projection.

The Hollywood Reporter

In the plot, we have a group of friends who decide to have a seemingly casual get-together in a country house far from the city. However, when there is a murder, things start to get out of control and a somewhat confusing spectrum of horror is presented. It doesn't take long for the audience to understand what is actually happening, but at first, the idea is too stupid to be considered a serious argument. Ironically, the script manages to work on this absurd perspective, to the point where it becomes a relevant option.

Within this dome that mixes horror and suspense, with the main threat being an artificial intelligence that flirts with the idea of bringing human emotions to machines (even though these machines are logically controlled by human beings... this argument being a good manipulation of the script to create a wave of irony within its narrative subtext), the movie brings something somewhat "challenging" to deliver something surprising to the audience, but after a promising beginning, the development of the idea sounds like a derailed train, and can no longer be controlled.

Plugged In

Whether it's because of its narrative argument lost amidst so many possibilities (and here it's worth mentioning that it's not just about using artificial intelligence as the basis for all the problems presented in the plot, but also about how to use human emotions to personify these variations in personal relationships... even though they're not considered "atypical" interactions because they don't have the same social nature) or because of its reasonable characters (and some of them quite disposable), the script becomes hostage to a good idea that was wasted by its bad decisions.

Although the development of the script manages to be quite curious due to its contextualized approach to such a controversial topic, the promise of something more complex is never fulfilled, because the script opts for the superficiality of what it really could have been and only orbits around its potential. The cast isn't the best (but I'd say that the duo Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid did the best they could with their conflicting but complementary characters) and, in general, the performances alternate between bad and average in a scenario where no one stands out.

Pipocas Club

The plot's plasticity is not supported by its own narrative. Therefore, everything becomes too fragile, and all possible conflicts become something that does not arouse much interest from the audience due to the superficial way in which everything is presented (at least that was my perception of what ends up being delivered by the characters, for example). There is a strong duality between human interests and the use of technology to create consensual bridges between both sides, and how they can “converge” with each other, but even this argument becomes somewhat confusing.

Perhaps one of the best moments of this movie is the breaking of expectations to which the viewer is subjected (and the script bets on a line of argument here, creating a type of “emotional dependence” between a human and the machine he tries to control... setting a precedent for future “humanoid” relationships in a future that is being drawn before us), creating an unlikely scenario where the audience creates empathy for who would be the villain here. At this specific point, the script establishes alternating emotional values at decisive moments in its conclusion.

Digital Trends

Written and directed by Drew Hancock (who even tried to do a well-intentioned job, but couldn't make the most of his ideas), I would say that Companion is a kinda forgettable entertainment (in the general context), but in the specific horror scenario, it has some merits for daring to bet on "different" ideas. Someone has to pay the price for better films to be made using this theme, and this film was a good "guinea pig" where good arguments can be explored in other aspects (including with more challenging technical aspects).

Sinopsis: Una reunión entre amigos en una casa de campo lejos de la ciudad no sale según lo planeado, y después de que ocurre un asesinato inesperado, todos corren peligro porque alguien no es exactamente quien dice ser.

Considerando todos los géneros cinematográficos, creo que uno de los que más fácilmente puede adaptarse a las nuevas cosas que se presentan a la sociedad (en general) es el terror. Precisamente, hoy en día, uno de estos temas que es muy amplio, y que ya ha sido muy explorado, es el uso de la inteligencia artificial. En esta película, la idea principal incluso logra tener una base realmente interesante, pero lamentablemente, este guión pierde su propia relevancia a medida que intenta construirse a lo largo de su proyección un tanto caótica.

En la trama, tenemos a un grupo de amigos que deciden tener una reunión aparentemente casual en una casa de campo más alejada de la ciudad. Sin embargo, cuando ocurre un asesinato, las cosas empiezan a salirse de control y se presenta un espectro de horror bastante confuso. No tarda mucho en que el público comprenda lo que realmente está sucediendo, pero al principio, la idea es demasiado estúpida como para ser considerada un argumento serio. Irónicamente, el guión logra trabajar con esta perspectiva absurda, hasta el punto de convertirse en una opción relevante.

Dentro de esta cúpula que mezcla terror y suspenso, con la principal amenaza siendo una inteligencia artificial que coquetea con la idea de llevar emociones humanas a las máquinas (aun cuando estas máquinas están lógicamente controladas por seres humanos... siendo este argumento una buena manipulación del guión para crear una ola de ironía dentro de su subtexto narrativo), la película aporta algo un tanto "desafiante" para entregar algo sorprendente a la audiencia, pero después de un inicio prometedor, el desarrollo de la idea suena como un tren descarrilado, y ya no se puede controlar.

Ya sea por su argumento narrativo perdido entre tantas posibilidades (y aquí cabe mencionar que no se trata solo de usar la inteligencia artificial como base de todos los problemas presentados en la trama, sino también de cómo usar las emociones humanas para personificar esas variaciones en las relaciones personales... aunque no sean interacciones consideradas "atípicas" por no tener la misma naturaleza social) o por sus personajes razonables (y algunos bastante desechables), el guión se vuelve rehén de una buena idea que se desperdició por sus decisiones equivocadas.

Aunque el desarrollo del guión logra ser bastante curioso por su abordaje contextualizado de un tema tan controversial, la promesa de algo más complejo nunca se cumple, pues el guión opta por la superficialidad de lo que realmente pudo haber sido y solo orbita en torno a su potencial. El reparto no es el mejor (pero diría que el dúo Sophie Thatcher y Jack Quaid hicieron lo mejor que pudieron con sus personajes conflictivos pero complementarios) y en general, las actuaciones alternan entre malas y regulares dentro de un escenario donde nadie destaca.

La plasticidad de la trama no se sustenta en su propia narrativa. Por lo tanto, todo se vuelve demasiado frágil, y convierte todos los posibles conflictos en algo que no despierta mucho interés en el público debido a la forma superficial en la que se presenta todo (al menos esa fue mi percepción de lo que terminan entregando los personajes, por ejemplo). Existe una fuerte dualidad entre los intereses humanos y el uso de la tecnología para crear puentes consensuados entre ambas partes, y cómo pueden “converger” entre sí, pero incluso este argumento se vuelve algo confuso.

Quizás, uno de los mejores momentos de esta película es la ruptura de expectativas a la que se somete al espectador (y el guión apuesta aquí por una línea argumental, creando una especie de “dependencia emocional” entre un humano y la máquina que intenta controlar… abriendo un precedente para futuras relaciones “humanoides” en un futuro que se dibuja ante nosotros), creando un escenario improbable donde el público crea empatía por quien sería el villano aquí. En este punto concreto, el guión establece valores emocionales alternados en momentos decisivos de su conclusión.

Escrita y dirigida por Drew Hancock (quien incluso intentó hacer un trabajo bien intencionado, pero no pudo sacarle todo el partido a sus ideas), diría que La acompañante es un entretenimiento olvidable (en el contexto general), pero en el escenario específico del terror, tiene algunos méritos por atreverse a apostar por ideas “diferentes”. Alguien tiene que pagar el precio para que se hagan mejores películas utilizando este tema, y esta película fue un buen “conejillo de indias” donde se pueden explorar buenos argumentos en otros aspectos (incluso con aspectos técnicos más desafiantes).

Sinopse: Uma reunião entre amigos em uma casa de campo afastada da cidade não sai exatamente como o planejado, e depois que um inesperado assassinato acontece, todos eles estão correndo perigo porque alguém não é exatamente quem diz ser.

Considerando todos os gêneros cinematográficos, eu acredito que um dos que mais conseguem se adaptar facilmente as novidades que são apresentadas a sociedade (em geral) é o horror. Precisamente, nos dias atuais, um desses temas que é muito abrangente, e que já vem sendo fortemente explorado é o uso da inteligência artificial. Neste filme, a ideia principal até consegue ter uma fundamentação realmente interessante, mas infelizmente, esse roteiro se perde dentro da sua própria relevância à medida em que ele tenta ser construído ao longo de sua projeção um tanto quanto caótica.

Na trama, temos um grupo de amigos que decide fazer uma reunião aparentemente descompromissada em uma casa de campo mais afastada da cidade. No entanto, quando há um assassinato, as coisas começam a sair do controle e um espectro de horror um tanto quanto confuso é apresentado. Não demora muito para o público entender o que está de fato acontecendo, mas a princípio, a ideia é algo estúpido demais para ser considerado como uma argumentação séria. Ironicamente, o roteiro consegue ir trabalhando essa perspectiva absurda, a ponto dela se tornar uma opção relevante.

Seja pela sua argumentação narrativa perdida no meio de tantas possibilidades (e aqui vale à pena mencionar que não se trata apenas de usar inteligência artificial como base para todos os problemas apresentados na trama, mas também, sobre como usar as emoções humanas personificando essas variações nas relações pessoais... ainda que elas não sejam interações consideradas como “atípicas” por não terem a mesma natureza social) ou pelos seus personagens razoáveis (e alguns bem descartáveis), o roteiro se torna refém de uma boa ideia que foi desperdiçada por suas decisões erradas.

Embora o desenvolvimento do roteiro consiga ser bem curioso pela sua abordagem contextualizada com um tema tão controverso, a promessa de algo mais complexo nunca é cumprida, porque o roteiro opta pela superficialidade do que realmente poderia ter sido e apenas orbita em torno do seu potencial. O elenco não é dos melhores (mas eu diria que a dupla Sophie Thatcher e Jack Quaid fez o melhor possível com seus personagens conflitantes, mas complementares) e de modo geral, as performances alternam entre o ruim e o mediano dentro de um cenário onde ninguém se destaca.

It is a drama film that narrates the historical events of the genocide that occurred in Rwanda in 1994, through the life of Agustin Muganza who was a captain of the armed forces in Rwanda of Hutu origin married to a woman belonging to the other Tutsi tribe. These differences of origin marked his destiny at the time of the civil war, which started because one tribe did not agree to be governed by the other tribe and assassinated the president by shooting down his plane and the next day soldiers assassinated the prime minister in her house in front of her children.

The war started in April and lasted 100 days. It was only a few months, but long enough for more than 800,000 people to die. When I started watching the film, I was prepared for what I would see. I knew what difficult things they were going to show, but I wanted to know this part of the story.

Always in April starts with Agustin Muganza played by Idris Elba, working as a teacher in a public school and talking about the past events, in that interaction the students ask him what was his role in the war and what he had to do, leaving him speechless, all this happens in the present for the year 2004 when the film was recorded being televised the following year, so it is an old movie that I just saw this year 2025.

The whole plot is based on the tribulations of Agustin Muganza remembering what happened trying to find answers that, although painful he needed them to move forward, so the story goes in two timelines the first when the war happens in 1994 where he was a captain and lived with his wife and two children, and the current one where he is a teacher and lives with his girlfriend in 2004, but he is still tormented by what he saw did or did not do and to know what happened to his family.

From the beginning you can feel the anguish and political pressure that they had before the war, a feeling that was easy for me to recognize from the moments of tension that I have lived in the last 20 years in my country, with the fortune that it has not passed to major, thank God.

Augustin Muganza while exercising his duties as a military man learns of lists of extermination that he must pass on to others to be executed, also that instead of firearms such as pistols, rifles among others the politicians decided to arm his people with white weapons such as machetes, you can imagine how bloody this war was, but Augustin Muganza deep down did not believe that the war would come and that was his biggest mistake, not listening to the fear of his wife, because when he wanted to do something it was too late and the war had broken out, making it difficult for him to escape.

The order was that the tribes would wipe each other out, that no one would survive, neither children nor women, no one. The tribe that survived would be the winner. As I mentioned in the beginning Augustin Muganza and her husband were from different tribes that were in dispute for that reason he entered the list of those who would be executed and when he found out he asked for help to his brother, who was an influential and popular speaker in Rwanda so that he would mobilize and seek refuge for his wife, children, and the wife and son of a fellow soldier and friend, while they were still hiding at home.

Walking the streets in the middle of a war is a bad idea, but sometimes desperation makes people believe that far away they can be saved and they decide to take the risk. Augustin Muganza could never see his family again and what happened to them was told by his brother 10 years later when they met again in the trial they were doing because it was proven that Augustin Muganza's brother was a precursor and inciter of the war because through his work as a broadcaster he influenced the masses, in this part you can clearly see the great responsibility of being a social communicator and the consequences of a bad speech.

Finally, I invite you to watch this movie where you will see values such as friendship and love, as well as how fear and irrational hatred make humans unscrupulous. There are strong scenes like the mass murder of girls in a boarding school, the difficulties that the survivors went through, there are many scenes that range from shocking and strong to subtle and sensitive, I think the direction made a good balance to keep the emotions of the viewers between suspense, drama and also comfort. It is not a movie that will make you cry your eyes out, rather it will leave you breathless and make you reflect, it also has its moments of happiness. This is one of the movies I would watch a second time in the future.

We continue with the review of Sean Baker's filmography. It is the turn of the funny Red Rocket, which was well received at the Cannes Film Festival the year of its premiere, and also won some awards for the leading actor. Despite these achievements, it is not a film that the general public has seen. I hope that with the success of Anora, new moviegoers will be interested in seeking it out and enjoying it.

Red Rocket is another x-ray of characters from a real America that we rarely have the opportunity to observe in such an enjoyable way. Drama and human conflicts, wrapped in very funny situations. It is part of the filmmaker's hallmark, which uses the naturalness of his actors to chronicle his society.

There is one scene in particular that made me laugh a lot. Simple and shocking. As we watch and listen to Trump's first election campaign rally on a TV, the camera shows the protagonist putting together some marijuana joints to sell and behind him are his wife and mother-in-law, lying on the couch, watching TV, and we hear when Trump says they are going to Make America Great Again.

Continuamos con el repaso a la filmografía de Sean Baker. Es el turno de la divertida Cohete rojo, que tuvo una buena acogida en el Festival de Cannes el año de su estreno, y que también obtuvo algunos premios para el actor protagonista. A pesar de estos logros, no es una película que el gran público haya visto. Espero que con el éxito de Anora, nuevos cinéfilos se interesen por buscarla y disfrutarla.

Cohete Rojo es otra radiografía de personajes de una América real que pocas veces tenemos la oportunidad de observar de forma tan amena. Drama y conflictos humanos, envueltos en situaciones muy divertidas. Es parte del sello del cineasta, que utiliza la naturalidad de sus actores para hacer la crónica de su sociedad.

Hay una escena en particular que me hizo reír mucho. Simple e impactante. Mientras vemos y escuchamos en un televisor el primer mitin de campaña electoral de Trump, la cámara muestra al protagonista armando unos porros de marihuana para vender y detrás de él están su mujer y su suegra, tumbadas en el sofá, viendo la tele, y oímos cuando Trump dice que van a Make America Great Again.

The story revolves around Mickey Saber, a broke porn actor who returns to his hometown, where his wife, whom he hasn't seen for years, is a former porn actress and now a prostitute. Mickey is a character we identify as the rogue. He passes up no opportunity to survive in the concrete jungle of our modernity. A man who only seeks to live from day to day in the hope of achieving the coveted American dream. Doing whatever it takes and taking advantage of whomever it takes.

Adapting again to this environment, either by social prejudice and the economic crisis that affects them. But without letting themselves be defeated, always devising some way to take advantage. That's why his encounter with Strawnerry, the 17-year-old girl from the Donut store, becomes an opportunity to return to Los Angeles as a porn producer and discover a new star.

The poor and forgotten America. Characters in the midst of frustration looking for a way to make a living. Some wanting to escape the sad reality of their lives living in a shitty city. I love how Baker tells us this story, because with all that desolation, he does it by creating very funny situations.

All the characters are played in a very natural way. Of course Simon Rex, the actor who plays Mikey, stands out. Bree Alrod is very believable as Lexi, who has similarities to characters in other Baker films. I was fascinated by Suzanna Son's beauty in this film and her character is charming.

Adaptándose de nuevo a este entorno, ya sea por los prejuicios sociales y la crisis económica que les afecta. Pero sin dejarse vencer, ideando siempre alguna forma de sacar ventaja. Por eso su encuentro con Strawnerry, la chica de 17 años de la tienda de Donuts, se convierte en una oportunidad para volver a Los Ángeles como productor porno y descubrir una nueva estrella.

La América pobre y olvidada. Personajes en medio de la frustración que buscan una forma de ganarse la vida. Algunos queriendo escapar de la triste realidad de sus vidas viviendo en una ciudad de mierda. Me encanta como Baker nos cuenta esta historia, porque con toda esa desolación, lo hace creando situaciones muy divertidas.

Todos los personajes están interpretados de una forma muy natural. Por supuesto destaca Simon Rex, el actor que interpreta a Mikey. Bree Alrod es muy creíble como Lexi, que tiene similitudes con personajes de otras películas de Baker. Me fascinó la belleza de Suzanna Son en esta película y su personaje es encantador.

When we talk about trying to “predict the future” through what is possible through art (in this case, cinema), the universe of the Seventh Art has a very diverse selection of movies on this subject. The vast majority are very efficient movies (narratively and visually speaking) and ahead of their time, proving the creative power of human beings, who here, worked on projects full of revolutionary ideas and deserve so much praise for having a very fertile mind (which is definitely not a job for just anyone).

Personally speaking, I have a very personal list on this specific subject, and I chose to talk about Blade Runner because, in addition to being a movie that completely fits into this proposal of “predicting the future”, it is one of my favorite movies within the science fiction genre. The movie was released in 1982, but it portrayed a dystopian scenario where “replicant” robots were used as “slave labor” on other planets for colonization purposes. After an unexpected revolution occurs, the robots become threats, and soon begin to be hunted and exterminated by highly trained hunters (Blade Runners), who must prevent them from returning to planet Earth. Within this reality, the movie already predicted the control of power over the people.

However, mentioning more specific details about how this movie manages to predict the future (because the point mentioned above is “too generic” to be considered a prediction), it is enough to pay close attention to the use of chaotic and exaggerated advertising that is used on billboards around the city (a great example that is seen in large metropolises around the world, in different countries). Other points to be observed are the use of technology through virtual assistants and communicative meetings made through videoconferences (within the globalized world, this is not only an option, it is an obligation... especially within the corporate world, and also in the political and personal spheres). All this without mentioning the fact of climate degradation in the midst of all the chaos. Each of these predictions became real, and what is most “scary” here is to imagine that until then everything was an “illusion”.

Without a doubt, it is incredible to realize how a movie that was released 43 years ago managed to be so accurate in its predictions for a modern world, where society is increasingly dependent on technology to sustain it in different layers (be they personal or professional). Fantastically directed by Ridley Scott, skillfully written by the trio Hampton Fancher, David Webb Peoples and Philip K. Dick, and with Harrison Ford as the main protagonist, this is a movie that will always be remembered (at least by me) when we talk about how cinema managed to predict the future.

Cuando hablamos de intentar “predecir el futuro” a través de lo que es posible hacer a través del arte (en este caso, el cine), el universo del Séptimo Arte cuenta con una selección muy diversa de películas sobre esta temática. La gran mayoría de ellas son películas muy eficientes (narrativamente y visualmente hablando) y adelantadas a su tiempo, demostrando el poder creativo del ser humano, que aquí trabajó en proyectos llenos de ideas revolucionarias y merece elogios por tener una mente muy fértil (lo que definitivamente no es un trabajo para cualquiera).

Personalmente hablando, tengo una lista muy personal sobre este tema en específico, y elegí hablar de Blade Runner porque además de realmente ser una película que encaja completamente dentro de esta propuesta de “predecir el futuro”, es una de mis películas favoritas dentro del género de ciencia ficción. La película se estrenó en 1982, pero retrataba un escenario distópico donde los robots “replicantes” eran utilizados como “mano de obra esclava” en otros planetas con fines de colonización. Después de que ocurre una revolución inesperada, los robots se convierten en amenazas, y pronto comienzan a ser cazados y exterminados por cazadores altamente entrenados (Blade Runners), quienes deben evitar su regreso al planeta Tierra. Dentro de esta realidad, la película ya predijo el control del poder sobre el pueblo.

Sin embargo, mencionando detalles más específicos sobre cómo esta película logra predecir el futuro (porque el punto mencionado anteriormente es “demasiado genérico” para ser considerado como una predicción), basta simplemente prestar mucha atención al uso de publicidad caótica y exagerada que se utiliza en las vallas publicitarias alrededor de la ciudad (un gran ejemplo que se ve en grandes metrópolis alrededor del mundo, en diferentes países). Otros puntos a observar son el uso de la tecnología a través de asistentes virtuales y reuniones comunicativas realizadas mediante videoconferencias (dentro del mundo globalizado, esto no es sólo una opción, es una obligación… especialmente dentro del mundo corporativo, y también en las esferas política y personal). Todo esto sin mencionar el hecho de la degradación climática en medio de todo el caos. Cada una de estas predicciones se cumplió, y lo más “aterrador” aquí es imaginar que hasta entonces todo era una “ilusión”.

Sin duda, es increíble ver cómo una película estrenada hace 43 años logró ser tan acertada en sus predicciones para un mundo moderno, donde la sociedad cada vez depende más de la tecnología que la apoya en diferentes niveles (ya sea personal o profesional). Fantásticamente dirigida por Ridley Scott, hábilmente escrita por el trío Hampton Fancher, David Webb Peoples y Philip K. Dick, y protagonizada por Harrison Ford, esta es una película que siempre será recordada (al menos por mí) cuando hablemos de cómo el cine logró predecir el futuro.

A grande maioria se mostra como filmes muito eficientes (narrativamente e visualmente falando) e à frente do seu tempo, comprovando o poder de criatividade dos seres humanos, que aqui, trabalharam dentro dos projetos repletos de ideias revolucionárias e merecem elogios por terem uma mente muito fértil (o que definitivamente não é um trabalho para qualquer pessoa).

Particularmente falando, eu tenho uma lista bastante pessoal sobre este tema específico, e eu escolhi falar sobre Blade Runner: O Caçador de Andróides porque além de realmente ser um filme que se encaixa completamente dentro dessa proposta de “prever o futuro”, é um dos meus filmes favoritos dentro do gênero da ficção científica. O filme foi lançado em 1982, mas retratava um cenário distópico onde robôs “replicantes” eram usados como “mão de obra escrava” nos outros planetas para fins de colonização. Sem dúvidas, é incrível perceber como um filme que foi lançado há 43 anos conseguiu ser tão preciso em suas previsões para um mundo moderno, onde a sociedade está cada vez mais dependente da tecnologia que a sustente em diferentes camadas (sejam elas pessoais ou profissionais). Dirigido fantasticamente por Ridley Scott, escrito habilmente pelo trio Hampton Fancher, David Webb Peoples e Philip K. Dick, e tendo Harrison Ford como principal protagonista, este é um filme que sempre será lembrado (ao menos por mim) quando falamos sobre como o cinema conseguiu prever o futuro.
