Today I'm here with what I consider one of the best romances of the summer 2025 season. I found this anime truly beautiful, both in its story and animation, and for that reason, I'm recommending it, hoping they release a second season.
Released in 2025, directed by Miyuki Kuroki and produced by CloverWorks; the creator of this story full of romantic comedy and drama is Saka Mikami, and it had a total of 13 episodes.

However, the real twist comes when they discover she attends Kikyo Academy, the school that so vehemently rejects Chidori students. This creates some obstacles in their relationship. Will they be able to break down the strict and different barriers between their schools? Can they have a smooth relationship?
What I liked most about this story was that it didn't adopt a melodramatic style, given the circumstances of their relationship, but rather one of emotional maturity and how they integrate their respective groups of friends, transforming initial distrust into unwavering loyalty. In other words, it subverts the viewer's expectations. The central conflict isn't a lack of communication between the protagonists, but rather the invisible barriers that society builds through appearances, which has always been a significant problem. The story employs an incredibly mature narrative about prejudice and mental health (especially low self-esteem and the trauma of social rejection). What captivates you isn't whether they like each other or not, because the chemistry is evident from the first minute; what captivates you is seeing how these two worlds, so hostile to each other, begin to heal and understand one another.
Regarding the character development, they have incredible chemistry and personalities that you can't help but connect with. Their relationships and how they live their lives clearly illustrate social stigma. For example, Rintaro is judged by his appearance, like a book by its cover. Kaoruko, on the other hand, could have been the typical perfect, idealized girl, but she feels real: she's a glutton, laughs with her whole body, is expressive, and has an unwavering moral compass. The same is true for the entire group of friends; each one's appearance belies their inner selves. The animation is beautiful; I find it captivating, with harmonious color palettes that clearly evoke the characters' emotions.
Characters and story you can connect with: It's not limited to the main couple. The friends on both sides have real backstories, believable fears, and satisfying growth.
Maturity and exemplary communication: It's the end of absurd misunderstandings. If there's a doubt, a fear, or a mistake, the characters sit down and talk like mature adults, apologize sincerely, and move forward.
Beautiful visual aesthetic, faithful to the manga.
Balance between romance and friendship: The story doesn't isolate the couple in a bubble. The growth of their love goes hand in hand with the creation of a close-knit group of friends, which adds dynamism to the plot.
Slow or leisurely pace: Because it focuses so much on feelings, internal monologues, and everyday life, the pace may feel slow for those looking for a romance with dramatic twists, fast-paced comedy, or intense drama.

La historia se desarrolla en torno a dos institutos vecinos que representan mundos opuestos: la Academia Chidori, un colegio masculino famoso por albergar a chicos problemáticos y de mala reputación, y la Academia Kikyo, una elitista y prestigiosa escuela para señoritas refinadas y de buena posición. El conflicto central no es la falta de comunicación entre los protagonistas, sino las barreras invisibles que la sociedad construye a través de las apariencias y que siempre ha sido un problema bastante remarcable en la misma; la historia maneja una narrativa increíblemente madura sobre los prejuicios y la salud mental (especialmente la baja autoestima y el trauma del rechazo social), lo que te atrapa no es el ¿se gustarán o no?, porque la química es evidente desde el primer minuto, lo que te atrapa es ver cómo estos dos mundos tan hostiles entre sí empiezan a sanar y a entenderse.
En cuanto a la construcción de sus personajes, tienen una química increíble y con personalidades que logras conectar sin duda alguna, las relaciones de cada uno y como llevan sus vidas son el claro ejemplo del estigma social, por ejemplo a Rintaro con su apariencia es juzgado, como un libro por su portada, o como con Kaoruko, podría haber sido la típica chica perfecta e idealizada, pero se siente real: es glotona, ríe con todo el cuerpo, es expresiva y tiene una brújula moral inquebrantable y así mismo con todo el grupo en general de amigos, cada uno lleva sus apariencias que por el interior son mucho más. Madurez y comunicación ejemplar: Es el fin de los malentendidos absurdos. Si hay una duda, un miedo o un error, los personajes se sientan a hablar como personas maduras, se disculpan de corazón y avanzan.
Estética visual hermosa y fiel al manga.

This was definitely one of those few anime series that I had been looking forward to seeing for a long time, even before it started airing last summer. While this may not come as a surprise to some of my readers, I must admit that I am a big fan of romantic stories, especially those in the huge anime industry. My fascination with RomComs is just as strong as my fascination with fantasy anime. So much so that the number of anime I've seen in this genre is almost similar to the number of isekais and other fantasy anime I've seen since I was a child. It is not common to see such distinctive characters in most of today's RomCom animes, where they almost always replicate the same characters as always. For example, in the case of our protagonist Rintato, we do not see a useless or idiotic character as is always the case with the protagonists of other romance anime.

We mostly see them in the background or even in the third plane in each story, which I personally think is unfair, but understandable. On the other hand, we must also talk about the issue of class distinction, or rather the prejudice that exists in this regard. In this anime, we see this prejudice at the beginning in the way Kikyo's students look at and treat Chidori's students. As the episodes progress, this disappears from the foreground, but the issue remains present.

Mayormente los vemos en segundo o hasta en tercer plano en cada historia, lo cual en lo personal opino que no es justo, pero es entendible. Por otro lado, también hay que hablar del tema de la distinción de clases o mejor dicho del prejuicio que hay en esto. En este anime vemos dicho prejuicio al principio con la forma en la que las estudiantes de Kikyo miran y tratan a los estudiantes de Chidori. Con el paso de los episodios esto va desapareciendo del primer plano, pero sigue estando ese tema presente.

Here I would also like to highlight another good point about this anime, which is that we get to see a masterful and perfect ending to this teenage love story. Normally, in almost all RomCom anime, we see how the seasons end without any real progress between the main relationships or couples. Well, this is not the case here, as we can see a remarkable and even admirable progress between Rintaro and Kaoruko until the end.

Pues este no es el caso aquí, ya que podemos ver un avance notable y hasta admirable entre Rintato y Kaoruko hasta el final.

It also has its fluidity at certain moments in the anime, but it is not the most remarkable thing. The photography style, the detailed and colorful shots, and the mix of traditional animation (2D) with computer-generated environments (3D) also turned out very well. The visual effects don't stand out much as there are few episodes where this is required, but they still manage to raise the bar with the visual details in this anime. As for the sound effects, there's not much to say beyond that they are well added. Una de las grandes sorpresas que obtuvimos en la pasada temporada de verano fue el ver al famoso estudio CloverWorks trabajar en tres grandes adaptaciones a la vez. Para los que saben, de seguro recordarán que en aquel entonces pudimos disfrutar del gran regreso de My Dress-Up Darling con su segunda temporada y Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, otro gran anime de romance único en su estilo. Pero aparte de esto, también tuvimos la emisión del anime que les traje hoy. Su calidad fue de lo más destacable, empezando por el notable diseño de personajes, estilos de dibujo bien detallados y una paleta de colores vivos y variados.
También tiene su fluidez en ciertos momentos del anime, pero no es de lo más destacable. El estilo de fotografía, los planos detallados y coloridos, la mezcla de animación tradicional (2D) con entornos hechos por computadora (3D) también quedaron muy bien. Los efectos visuales no se destacan mucho al tener pocos episodios donde se es requerido esto, pero aún así logran elevar la vara con los detalles visuales que tiene este anime. En cuanto a los efectos de sonido no hay mucho de qué hablar más allá de que están bien agregados. En donde sí se destaca es en la banda sonora gracias a momentos donde la música logra elevar el ambiente a un punto máximo y nunca antes visto. En fin, este es un anime de romance que sí recomiendo ver, sobre todo si estás cansado de lo genérico.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de romance y comedia.

I saw a short video on the internet about this anime, and I decided to download it to watch. The story is about Kaoruko Waguri and Rintaro Tsumugi. You see, let's start with Rintaro-kun. Everything was going well until one day, when he got back from school to help his mother in her cake shop, he met Waguri, who was shocked at seeing him watching her eat. She became flustered and ran out of the shop. Rintaro was sad because he felt he drove his mom's customer away.
The following day, as he was feeling sad, his mom came to tell him the lady that run away yesterday was back to see him, and he was surprised, so he went to meet her, and she apologized for the previous day, she treated him to a cake, and that was the beginning of a friendship that would change his life forever.
The anime is a very nice one because it tells the story of a teenager who was going through a tough time in life and how a single event can change the entire narrative of a person's life. I love that the anime is a romantic anime, with a slice of life and comedy in it. The animation was good, and the voice actor did a very good job in making sure the character sounded like what they wanted to be.
One of the biggest plot twists of this anime is that Waguri and Rintaro became close over time, but they attend different schools. Now, Rintaro High School and Waguri School hate each other, and they don't want to have anything to do with each other. Chidori High School is believed to be for losers and boys who are very dumb; basically, every bad thing about a boy comes from that school.
Just one morning, they found out that the school they attend because both of the school is just a few meters away from the other school.
The fact that Rintaro and Waguri had to put their friendship for a while was something funny, but the anime is a very good watch. It's something you would enjoy when you try it. The anime is not complete, but it has 9 episodes out already. If you are looking for an anime you can watch that doesn't have too much action but you will enjoy, then I will recommend this anime to you.
